00:00 --> 00:05 [SPEAKER_02]: Can you confirm for me that crime in a barrel is a popular topic in black culture?
00:05 --> 00:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Can you confirm that for me?
00:07 --> 00:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Does anybody have a raven?
00:08 --> 00:10 [SPEAKER_02]: I think it's a for a raven.
00:10 --> 00:11 [SPEAKER_02]: This is Ron Dawson.
00:11 --> 00:12 [SPEAKER_02]: I got three niggas with me.
00:12 --> 00:13 [SPEAKER_02]: All right, let's go.
00:16 --> 00:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, there are your girls, boys, and nine binaries.
00:18 --> 00:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to another episode of Denny's In dueregs.
00:21 --> 00:23 [SPEAKER_01]: And if you're wondering, what happened to you do?
00:23 --> 00:25 [SPEAKER_01]: His brain was planted into a white man.
00:25 --> 00:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I'll get out and so.
00:30 --> 00:31 [SPEAKER_01]: That is what has happened.
00:31 --> 00:34 [SPEAKER_02]: He's suffering from a bit of like a real quick.
00:34 --> 00:35 [SPEAKER_01]: That too.
00:36 --> 00:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm just joking.
00:36 --> 00:43 [SPEAKER_01]: We have Dave from the Lorhounds or the patron saint of the network that we are part of.
00:43 --> 00:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back, Dave.
00:45 --> 00:46 [SPEAKER_03]: Thanks, thanks for having me.
00:46 --> 00:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Is this your first or second time back since we did the pre show recording?
00:51 --> 00:54 [SPEAKER_03]: This is my third time on.
00:54 --> 00:56 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, right, it's like the number three count.
00:56 --> 00:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, cool.
00:58 --> 01:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we went to have Dave for a couple of things.
01:02 --> 01:06 [SPEAKER_01]: One, we're going to do a quick sort of like overall recap of how to the dragon.
01:06 --> 01:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, we had our final episode discussion last week.
01:10 --> 01:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I can't say one of that.
01:11 --> 01:13 [SPEAKER_03]: You're final episode, and we're going to say yeah.
01:14 --> 01:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Can I just one, one thing, can I just a note for you?
01:17 --> 01:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
01:18 --> 01:18 [SPEAKER_03]: J.D.
01:18 --> 01:21 [SPEAKER_03]: remember to breathe man, cuz like I was right there.
01:21 --> 01:22 [SPEAKER_02]: I was broke out during the night.
01:22 --> 01:23 [SPEAKER_02]: I know.
01:23 --> 01:23 [SPEAKER_03]: I know.
01:24 --> 01:25 [SPEAKER_02]: I get on a rant.
01:26 --> 01:27 [SPEAKER_03]: I get on a rant.
01:27 --> 01:27 [SPEAKER_03]: You were on.
01:28 --> 01:28 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god.
01:28 --> 01:30 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:31 --> 01:31 [SPEAKER_01]: So.
01:32 --> 01:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so if you haven't seen that, you know, check out the channel, go watch it or have a realistic thing.
01:36 --> 01:37 [SPEAKER_01]: You can find it on our feed.
01:38 --> 01:41 [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll have just like a recap of that.
01:41 --> 01:46 [SPEAKER_01]: And then in another episode, we're going to talk about the first episode of the lantern.
01:46 --> 01:55 [SPEAKER_01]: So this week, you'll probably see two dentists in during episodes drop on your YouTube and podcast feeds, one for House of Dragon, one for Lanterns.
01:56 --> 01:57 [SPEAKER_01]: So House of Dragon, overall,
01:58 --> 02:10 [SPEAKER_01]: And I know Dave, you have a couple questions that you had dropped before we get to those, though, everyone kind of like a round rob and overall, how would you say you thought about the season?
02:10 --> 02:11 [SPEAKER_01]: In terms of, like, did you like it?
02:11 --> 02:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Did you not like it?
02:12 --> 02:14 [SPEAKER_01]: If you want to rate it, how would you do that?
02:15 --> 02:20 [SPEAKER_01]: How would you compare it to some of the other game I told on shows?
02:20 --> 02:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Why don't we start with you, Dave?
02:23 --> 02:29 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so Joan and I are going to do our season wrap tomorrow.
02:29 --> 02:30 [SPEAKER_03]: We've got our recording schedule for that.
02:30 --> 02:36 [SPEAKER_03]: We've got a lot of feedback community and yeah, and that's that's one of the things I was really curious to see like.
02:37 --> 02:41 [SPEAKER_03]: what you guys made up, because I've been following your episodes all the way through the season.
02:41 --> 02:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Uh, I spat my coffee out multiple times.
02:50 --> 02:54 [SPEAKER_03]: There's a lot of, uh, a lot of lore hounds have been enjoying your guys's coverage as well.
02:54 --> 02:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Good job.
02:54 --> 02:55 [SPEAKER_03]: Good job.
02:55 --> 02:58 [SPEAKER_01]: He, he probably got a deeper understanding of the lore.
02:58 --> 02:59 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure listening to us, right?
02:59 --> 03:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
03:01 --> 03:13 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, Ron had to explain a few things for me and I got that, you know, once Ron set me straight about menstruation cycles and a few other Well, the turbine diaper, that's important.
03:13 --> 03:13 [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
03:14 --> 03:17 [SPEAKER_03]: If only I had known when I first child.
03:17 --> 03:18 [SPEAKER_02]: I do broke it down for us.
03:20 --> 03:25 [SPEAKER_02]: But do you know who Prony James is the most brilliant thing.
03:28 --> 03:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Nevermind.
03:30 --> 03:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Ron Ron failed that test.
03:31 --> 03:33 [SPEAKER_03]: That was one of his.
03:33 --> 03:34 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my god.
03:34 --> 03:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Do I get to play my white card and get out of here?
03:37 --> 03:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you get out of jail.
03:41 --> 03:41 [SPEAKER_02]: Now he's bad.
03:41 --> 03:42 [SPEAKER_02]: He's seen that's what's messed up.
03:42 --> 03:51 [SPEAKER_02]: He's trying to suck you into that black hole black hole blackness is he I'm his white friend from his friend Ron has white friends.
03:52 --> 03:53 [SPEAKER_03]: He has a white friend.
03:53 --> 03:54 [SPEAKER_00]: He has a right friend.
03:54 --> 03:56 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I live in Canada.
03:56 --> 03:57 [SPEAKER_03]: I live near here.
03:57 --> 03:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
03:59 --> 04:00 [SPEAKER_03]: With this girlfriend.
04:00 --> 04:01 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you're.
04:03 --> 04:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Say what when did you think of this of the show over all day?
04:06 --> 04:14 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so going into the season, I was doing my season one and season two, rewatch.
04:15 --> 04:25 [SPEAKER_03]: And I remember starting season one and just going, oh my god, like the first, the first two thirds of season one is just so hard to watch.
04:26 --> 04:29 [SPEAKER_03]: Not because anything was bad, like production was good.
04:29 --> 04:53 [SPEAKER_03]: acting is good dialogue is good sent everything like you know patty costume the teen is like that that he was like made for that role is as a seris i'm absolutely milly alcoque was great um... but the they're just fucking horrible people and you're just watching horrible people be horrible to each other and there's not like a singular bad guy like this year we had orman right like oh okay we got like
04:54 --> 04:56 [SPEAKER_03]: This guy who got asked fucked at the end, that was awesome.
04:57 --> 04:59 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm probably speaking from the door, right, right, right.
05:00 --> 05:09 [SPEAKER_03]: That is like one of my favorite audio clips now, but they were just all horrible to each other and you're just like, oh, God.
05:10 --> 05:16 [SPEAKER_03]: And then at about, yeah, two thirds of the way through, kind of, the season flips and it's like, oh, okay, we know we're through.
05:16 --> 05:19 [SPEAKER_03]: And then season two, I enjoyed season two much better.
05:21 --> 05:42 [SPEAKER_03]: uh... relative to season one season three i'm gonna have to think on it but it's not any worse than season two like i don't feel i don't feel like they've noticed over and they're in a dive that they're gonna have to like you know pull the franchise out of i think this held its own if not a little bit better i mean on that
05:42 --> 06:03 [SPEAKER_03]: Just on the dragon side of things, the CGI made it handle all of the stuff like if you listen to any of our coverage, Sean was really into the fact that we are learning a lot more about what it is to be a dragon writer and how dragon writers interact with their dragons and what's the range of the wife of the dragon wifi and the dragon bluetooth.
06:04 --> 06:05 [SPEAKER_03]: How does that all work?
06:07 --> 06:14 [SPEAKER_03]: So like on that like it scored really well, I thought, just that that's myth is freaking amazing.
06:15 --> 06:18 [SPEAKER_03]: Emma Darcy was just fire this year.
06:19 --> 06:29 [SPEAKER_03]: So I think they're hitting some strides and I got to see like what the community feedback comes in at and then I got to sit with it a little bit but it made I think it might.
06:30 --> 06:36 [SPEAKER_03]: I think it might be my favorite season so far.
06:36 --> 06:46 [SPEAKER_03]: Not that it didn't have flaws, but compared to season 1 and season 2, I think just relative in a relative scale, I think I enjoyed this season more.
06:47 --> 06:49 [SPEAKER_03]: There's more action going on.
06:49 --> 06:55 [SPEAKER_03]: We have armies on the march and we had a clear bad guy with Ormond and stuff like that.
06:55 --> 06:58 [SPEAKER_03]: But it also brought in a little bit of that game of thronesy stuff where we're
06:58 --> 07:15 [SPEAKER_03]: Hopping around a little bit and we're meeting some other characters and we're like right Jetpacking around and yeah here and there so Yeah, I think it was I think they did a good but then they they kept us also Center like when we were at Heron Hall we were at Heron Hall and King's land and we were in King's land, you know like
07:16 --> 07:24 [SPEAKER_03]: So we moved around, but they didn't really disorient us and you're not like, wait a minute, how did John Snow get from like, here to there?
07:25 --> 07:25 [SPEAKER_02]: Mm-hmm.
07:26 --> 07:26 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm not.
07:27 --> 07:28 [SPEAKER_02]: The right.
07:28 --> 07:31 [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I know, I'm feeling pretty positive about it.
07:31 --> 07:40 [SPEAKER_03]: And I think that bodes well for the franchise overall, which is one of my questions, I was curious about what you guys all were thinking about the franchise as a whole.
07:40 --> 07:44 [SPEAKER_03]: But just on that, I think it's good.
07:44 --> 07:44 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm good.
07:45 --> 07:45 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
07:46 --> 07:46 [SPEAKER_01]: How would cheese you, Vaughn?
07:48 --> 07:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, I, I, I liked it a lot.
07:53 --> 08:03 [SPEAKER_00]: I think I, I also think there's probably my favorite season, so far, and it was because of the action that kind of moved it.
08:04 --> 08:10 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, yeah, the first, the first season, even the first season, you know,
08:11 --> 08:16 [SPEAKER_00]: It didn't, it didn't feel like it moved a lot, though there was action happening.
08:16 --> 08:20 [SPEAKER_00]: It was drama happening, but not physical action.
08:20 --> 08:23 [SPEAKER_00]: And not that I have to have physical action all the time.
08:23 --> 08:27 [SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to always have swords and dragons to make a story.
08:28 --> 08:38 [SPEAKER_00]: And you just hear a do the boring, right exactly, exactly, and glad you're sorry that's what this, that's what most of this season wasn't.
08:38 --> 08:42 [SPEAKER_00]: There were some, there were a couple of laws, but most of the season wasn't boring.
08:43 --> 08:50 [SPEAKER_00]: And I think the the best thing about the season is that it did keep you, it's hard to say keep you guessing, but.
08:52 --> 08:56 [SPEAKER_00]: We as an audience knew what was going on and we were just waiting for everybody else to know what was going on.
08:56 --> 09:00 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't feel like that all happened a lot, especially in the first season.
09:00 --> 09:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Second season maybe.
09:01 --> 09:03 [SPEAKER_00]: But you knew aiming was over here doing something.
09:03 --> 09:05 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, agon was over here doing something.
09:05 --> 09:09 [SPEAKER_00]: You knew, you know, Damon and the high towers were over here doing something.
09:12 --> 09:26 [SPEAKER_00]: I guess the anticipation and knowing that it was slowly coming together is what helped the it was it was what helped the season roll along because you knew you just knew that something like that was going to happen now throwing in the dragon riders and there.
09:28 --> 09:52 [SPEAKER_00]: weird ups and downs and losing a wife and not feeling respected over here and not feeling respected over there and not getting your hair done over here that was those sprinkling were great and but the weird thing was you didn't have to have them they added to a lot of what was going on but in terms of the main storyline and the main battles that we're going on.
09:53 --> 09:55 [SPEAKER_00]: The side dragonwriters were side dragonwriters.
09:55 --> 10:06 [SPEAKER_00]: So I hate to say it, but I can see them all getting killed in some way and still liking what's going to happen.
10:06 --> 10:12 [SPEAKER_00]: So in my book, that means it was a great, it was a great season and it gives me something to look for it too.
10:13 --> 10:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Interesting, the B-plot stayed the B-plot.
10:16 --> 10:19 [SPEAKER_03]: It never, never was set of the A-plot stuff.
10:19 --> 10:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
10:23 --> 10:24 [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I agree with these guys.
10:24 --> 10:26 [SPEAKER_02]: I had a roof on time watching it.
10:26 --> 10:32 [SPEAKER_02]: I think, um, I think the character development was, um, is what propelled it.
10:32 --> 10:46 [SPEAKER_02]: I think with with what Javans just said about all the different factions and of people in their little story lines, it served to, I think, create chaos in the show in, in a certain way that that, that,
10:47 --> 10:50 [SPEAKER_02]: kind of imposed itself on Renera.
10:51 --> 10:56 [SPEAKER_02]: So, like when she's having all these issues, it's because the dragon rider's or it's because of Damon or it's because of Amy.
10:57 --> 11:08 [SPEAKER_02]: All these things are kind of, you know, stuff that she's, even things that she's not aware of, it's kind of having its effect on her, trying to wrangle down this kingdom that she doesn't have control over.
11:08 --> 11:11 [SPEAKER_02]: And so that was, it was fun seeing that and I actually dug
11:12 --> 11:20 [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I thought one of the, I think was episode three where she got into the kingdom and then, uh, it was just, there we got the throne.
11:21 --> 11:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, yeah, where everybody's just asking for things and we, there wasn't a lot of fighting on what not, but you, you just saw her exasperating and, and, and, and walk, that's, you know, I think that's how this that shows on prepare for it.
11:33 --> 11:34 [SPEAKER_03]: That was the best episode of the season.
11:35 --> 11:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was pretty, but I know like, I do thought I was boring.
11:38 --> 11:39 [SPEAKER_02]: I did.
11:39 --> 11:39 [SPEAKER_02]: I did.
11:39 --> 11:44 [SPEAKER_02]: But for me, it was like just intriguing, you know, with the power struggles whatnot.
11:44 --> 12:00 [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I agree with you guys, and the thing I would say is, I think with all those that character development that also helped enhance the action, where they had a lot of action, but it's because we have these concrete, dramatic, conflicting moments with the characters.
12:01 --> 12:03 [SPEAKER_02]: that kind of bolstered the storytelling.
12:03 --> 12:11 [SPEAKER_02]: So it wasn't like, you know, sometimes we get these sort of channel shows, whatever, it's just a whole bunch of action, but the story's kind of stupid or doesn't really hit.
12:11 --> 12:18 [SPEAKER_02]: And it doesn't match the level of action and fighting or whatever, but I felt like a lot of the drama and this did.
12:18 --> 12:20 [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, we're talking about game with Donald's dude.
12:20 --> 12:25 [SPEAKER_02]: So I mean, it's already a premier show that they already do a really great job, but yeah, this was a good season.
12:26 --> 12:26 [SPEAKER_02]: I dug it.
12:27 --> 12:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
12:28 --> 12:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I would say I don't I don't think I'm as high on the season as you guys are I liked it.
12:34 --> 12:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, but for I can't explain why right now, but I feel like like when I rewatched seasons one and two, I came out of those rewatches feeling like, wow, I forgot how amazing these two seasons were.
12:50 --> 12:55 [SPEAKER_01]: I think I like the more than other people I understand and appreciate the criticism that
12:57 --> 13:18 [SPEAKER_02]: reasons why people like season two more it's just dry pie like you're just oh my god he's all crushers filling your I'm gonna use that and I think to give it credit though, it's also like setting up it has to stop himself from game with the room, so it's going to take a little bit more time to me and
13:19 --> 13:19 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
13:19 --> 13:20 [SPEAKER_02]: Let you get your bearings.
13:21 --> 13:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
13:21 --> 13:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
13:22 --> 13:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
13:23 --> 13:29 [SPEAKER_01]: So, I think hands down the battles in this season far outweigh anything we saw.
13:29 --> 13:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we didn't see anything we saw any battles in season one.
13:34 --> 13:37 [SPEAKER_01]: I think season two ended with them about to go to battle.
13:38 --> 13:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, which I think there's still a lot of people off and so that's it.
13:41 --> 13:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I still kind of see episodes one and two of this season is really nine and ten of season two, but we won't go there again.
13:50 --> 13:57 [SPEAKER_03]: So when people in years to come and they like, oh, what's this, you know, house of the dragon thing, I think I'll watch it for the first time.
13:57 --> 14:02 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they're going to just go, you know, and there's going to be no season differentiation.
14:02 --> 14:02 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, right.
14:04 --> 14:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, so, but uh, but when I, at the end of this one,
14:10 --> 14:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't have that same level of elevation that I had at the end of the other two.
14:16 --> 14:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Like I kind of felt like there really are high highs of the other two seasons.
14:21 --> 14:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Like the big episodes where something big happened, whether it was.
14:27 --> 14:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Amen, getting a vague hour for the first time on that episode or the episode where.
14:37 --> 14:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Where he kills his brother.
14:40 --> 14:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Which I think was like season episode nine of season two
14:44 --> 14:46 [SPEAKER_02]: Um, whatever so that be wrong.
14:46 --> 14:48 [SPEAKER_02]: That's the penultimate episode.
14:48 --> 14:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Penultimate and we meet the penultimate episode.
14:51 --> 14:53 [SPEAKER_01]: That is a kind of word.
14:53 --> 14:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I know.
14:54 --> 14:55 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just letting you stand.
14:55 --> 14:57 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just clarifying it on.
14:57 --> 15:00 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so check out JD over here with the Argon gas though.
15:00 --> 15:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
15:02 --> 15:03 [SPEAKER_03]: Go around our beta Santa.
15:03 --> 15:04 [SPEAKER_02]: I got the Argon gas.
15:05 --> 15:08 [SPEAKER_01]: But I, but for season three, like I said, the battles that we're good.
15:08 --> 15:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought, uh,
15:11 --> 15:25 [SPEAKER_01]: If I had a criticism for season three, I don't, I kind of felt like the ups and down of what Renera went through a little bit more erratic than I think I would have liked.
15:26 --> 15:32 [SPEAKER_01]: It's not nearly as bad as what they did to the Daenerys, but there was a little bit of
15:34 --> 15:44 [SPEAKER_01]: expediting her escalation to Mad Queen, or I don't, I, that's what frustrated me last year.
15:44 --> 15:45 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I don't see that.
15:45 --> 15:47 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't see that at all.
15:47 --> 15:49 [SPEAKER_02]: You don't see what, you don't see what.
15:49 --> 15:53 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I don't think that they rush drive the rest.
15:53 --> 15:54 [SPEAKER_02]: You said it's I'm just going off what you said.
15:54 --> 15:57 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't.
15:57 --> 15:59 [SPEAKER_00]: It's a nice, it means rush.
15:59 --> 16:01 [SPEAKER_00]: I know you didn't say rush, but it's like me.
16:01 --> 16:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Technically, you did not say rush.
16:03 --> 16:04 [SPEAKER_02]: You didn't wear an expedite.
16:04 --> 16:06 [SPEAKER_02]: I said, I said corrected.
16:06 --> 16:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I said they, I feel like they expedited it a little bit.
16:11 --> 16:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
16:13 --> 16:14 [SPEAKER_02]: Someone could say they rushed a little bit.
16:14 --> 16:16 [SPEAKER_02]: But I said correct, I'm sorry.
16:16 --> 16:17 [SPEAKER_03]: But my bad.
16:17 --> 16:23 [SPEAKER_03]: So I was wondering because this all this prior conversation has been very calm and measured and thoughtful.
16:23 --> 16:26 [SPEAKER_03]: That's like, is this the Dungeons & Dragons?
16:26 --> 16:26 [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
16:26 --> 16:30 [SPEAKER_02]: I just didn't want to interrupt now.
16:30 --> 16:32 [SPEAKER_02]: I'll take over 30 minutes of the show.
16:32 --> 16:36 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I feel like I'm like, yeah, like I'm willing to supposed to be here.
16:36 --> 16:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
16:36 --> 16:36 [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
16:37 --> 16:39 [SPEAKER_02]: All right.
16:39 --> 16:39 [SPEAKER_02]: No, for real though.
16:40 --> 16:42 [SPEAKER_02]: And also Dave, I just want him to sell his bullshit out front.
16:42 --> 16:44 [SPEAKER_02]: So I can confront him on it after he says it.
16:44 --> 16:45 [SPEAKER_02]: No.
16:45 --> 16:46 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm setting the trap.
16:46 --> 16:47 [SPEAKER_00]: That's why he's laying the trap out.
16:47 --> 16:48 [SPEAKER_00]: Just listen.
16:48 --> 16:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Just listen.
16:49 --> 16:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Just listen.
16:53 --> 17:01 [SPEAKER_01]: There were times where in one episode she was like, I'm the queen dammit and another episode she is kind of
17:05 --> 17:28 [SPEAKER_02]: not as tough as she was in the prior episode and then I just like I don't know it's like you look at her that was one thing between Damon and Mesaria right and not only that she's walking into this world this thing that she's coveted for so long and then when she gets there she doesn't know how to handle it I mean you even made the point you made that some point of the series never how to sit in on the meetings
17:29 --> 17:33 [SPEAKER_02]: This is what all this shit works and so what one time this fool's coming up as well.
17:33 --> 17:35 [SPEAKER_02]: We need more bread in the bakery.
17:35 --> 17:38 [SPEAKER_02]: We need this and I know we need more tiles on the rules.
17:38 --> 17:42 [SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's asked about this bullshit and she's like, I don't even have the kingdom under control.
17:42 --> 17:51 [SPEAKER_02]: Y'all motherfuckers got to sit down, take a breath, let me kill a man and take on before we get into all the other stuff.
17:51 --> 17:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
17:52 --> 17:55 [SPEAKER_02]: And so I think for me, I love that because it's like it really
17:57 --> 18:08 [SPEAKER_02]: And also, the chaos that happens around the kingdom is something that was always like in Shakespeare when you have a fucked up leader on top of the kingdom, the kingdom's not going to function properly.
18:08 --> 18:12 [SPEAKER_02]: It's like having a wayward ship with no captain, and that's what you got going on.
18:12 --> 18:18 [SPEAKER_02]: And she's trying to seize the helm of the ship that everybody keeps pulling her from all these different directions.
18:18 --> 18:21 [SPEAKER_01]: No, I think that's fair, and maybe...
18:22 --> 18:26 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I can't be misremembering it, um, like I said, because she was a meany.
18:26 --> 18:28 [SPEAKER_02]: You're a captain, save a home.
18:28 --> 18:30 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm gonna let her to save everybody and she was a meany.
18:31 --> 18:31 [SPEAKER_02]: I get it.
18:31 --> 18:46 [SPEAKER_01]: No, I mean, I mean, I mean, so the question is, can you buy and I think it is reasonable to buy that from episode, was it episode two or three where she's like, you said, JD, she's like giving it is, um,
18:47 --> 19:13 [SPEAKER_01]: free food and everything to try social security and dental plans around a bullshit say oh listen we got we got some other shit that's cry on the list right um i mean if i didn't rewatched i'd probably probably not feel as strong i think you guys make strong cases for it i'm gonna say i like first one making that i like to see right uh i really like the season um i i think part of me is filling like
19:15 --> 19:17 [SPEAKER_01]: It deserves more than eight episodes.
19:17 --> 19:23 [SPEAKER_01]: I think maybe that is, whoa, someone got shot.
19:23 --> 19:25 [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry, that's just my daughter just came into the house.
19:25 --> 19:27 [SPEAKER_02]: She's, and shot you?
19:27 --> 19:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Do you want all of this stuff?
19:28 --> 19:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
19:33 --> 19:37 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think, yeah, so maybe that's why I'm feeling,
19:38 --> 19:40 [SPEAKER_01]: But season two eight episodes also.
19:40 --> 19:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was season two.
19:41 --> 19:43 [SPEAKER_02]: Let me let me post something here.
19:43 --> 19:47 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, because I know that we're all kind of liberal progressive on this show.
19:48 --> 19:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Do you think that our, that may be modern politics is influencing how you feel about who me personally.
19:55 --> 19:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like maybe that kind of plays into that where.
19:58 --> 20:03 [SPEAKER_02]: because I don't like, there's no part of me that feels that she's been irrational or man.
20:03 --> 20:08 [SPEAKER_02]: I feel like she's been treading water, trying to catch up, get up to speed with what she needs to do.
20:08 --> 20:20 [SPEAKER_02]: But I also feel like, sometimes I feel like you were saying, well, this isn't fair, she's not smart, she's not a Democrat, if you don't point to have the job here, and I'm like, I just don't, I don't think you understand,
20:21 --> 20:31 [SPEAKER_02]: this is not modern this is more equivalent to medieval times and right right way life was back then even I know it's on a different planet and not sure first no so that's stuff you got to
20:32 --> 20:53 [SPEAKER_02]: So that's why I enjoy it because it keeps, it's kind of showing the essence of that lifestyle and But even even so, I mean shit, you look at modern day politics and even though it's not that crude There's still a lot of fucked up stuff going on that, you know, that we can glean from this show and that's curve No, I think it's interesting.
20:53 --> 20:54 [SPEAKER_01]: You were gonna say something there
20:55 --> 21:21 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I thought just to jump off of JD's point, that was one of the points that I emailed you earlier about today, which I don't know if this is a good segue to this, but one of the things that I've been really thinking about all season long and I was curious to get your guys as perspective on for me that one of the mean themes of the season was and the show overall is all about power.
21:22 --> 21:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, right, right.
21:23 --> 21:25 [SPEAKER_03]: Who has power?
21:25 --> 21:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Who do we give our power to?
21:28 --> 21:30 [SPEAKER_03]: What happens when we hold power?
21:30 --> 21:32 [SPEAKER_03]: What happens when we use power?
21:32 --> 21:34 [SPEAKER_03]: How does using power affect us?
21:35 --> 21:37 [SPEAKER_03]: What happens if we have power, but we don't use it?
21:38 --> 21:39 [SPEAKER_03]: and how does that affect us.
21:40 --> 21:46 [SPEAKER_03]: What happens when we're like, oh, we want to take our power back individually or collectively.
21:46 --> 21:54 [SPEAKER_03]: And like you're saying, JD, there's a, that's what's interesting about the show is that we get to then reflect out of this show.
21:56 --> 22:10 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, did Kamala actually have any power or did Joe Biden hold all the power and like not actually run, you know, so right way too long to screw up, you know, and then they did Democrats didn't have a primary battle, you know, they didn't have like, you know,
22:22 --> 22:26 [SPEAKER_02]: But I'll be saying, that's what Game of Thrones is, just a name.
22:27 --> 22:33 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I know this is House of Dragons, but it's part of the Game of Thrones universe.
22:33 --> 22:35 [SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, it's all about these leverage.
22:35 --> 22:37 [SPEAKER_02]: It's almost like a watch in a mouse trap game.
22:37 --> 22:38 [SPEAKER_02]: It's just lever after lever.
22:38 --> 22:40 [SPEAKER_02]: It's always about power.
22:40 --> 22:44 [SPEAKER_02]: It's everything you just said, Dave, and every show, every season, it's all about who's
22:45 --> 22:46 [SPEAKER_02]: We're just in a fuckery.
22:46 --> 22:51 [SPEAKER_02]: We're just looking at political fuckery going on and everybody's exploiting everybody else There's no like oh, this is peaceful times.
22:51 --> 23:03 [SPEAKER_02]: You know the war is ended and we've got 50 years of prosperity No, it's like there's always something going on We're somebody's manipulating or turning the screws or doing some underhanded shady shit Which is why people love it?
23:03 --> 23:05 [SPEAKER_03]: I my daughter I've been watching.
23:05 --> 23:12 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if you've guys seen this that there's a new World war two 20 part series that's hosted by Tom Hanks
23:13 --> 23:14 [SPEAKER_01]: No, of course.
23:14 --> 23:30 [SPEAKER_03]: He gives us on the history channel a thing and so we watched that and so as we were watching, finishing up watching that and sort of getting to the end and they're covering the stuff of the final days of
23:30 --> 23:59 [SPEAKER_03]: of Germany in the final days of Japan, you know, in their relative timeframes, you know, we're going into these, you know, battles on in, in Westeros here with, you know, House of the Dragon, and G Wayne says to, to Darren one time, and I forget the exact quote, but they're just going, oh man, Ormond is crazy, like how, you know, how we got to do, you know, we got to do something about this, and, and G Wayne's like,
23:59 --> 24:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's crazy when we give our power away to crazy people like this, what do we, you know, we're just, all of humanity suffers because this asshole over here thinks that their, you know, something, you know, their huge show.
24:16 --> 24:24 [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm, of course, I'm thinking about, you know, Adolf Hitler and the, and the Japanese military command, and it wasn't so straightforward, there's an emperor, but there's a bunch of Japanese and well,
24:25 --> 24:42 [SPEAKER_03]: and the generals are like, we're not giving up right we're going to fight to the death last man and the emperor's like, well, I don't know if that's such a good idea and like there's all this kind of tension within Japan about you know how far they're going to take the war until the and then the president you know blah blah blah but it's this idea that like
24:43 --> 24:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we give these people their our power and then we're like, oh, shit, they're driving us down a really bad road.
24:50 --> 24:50 [SPEAKER_03]: When do we take it back?
24:51 --> 24:52 [SPEAKER_03]: How do we take it back?
24:52 --> 24:53 [SPEAKER_03]: What's your pathway?
24:53 --> 24:54 [SPEAKER_03]: What are our choices?
24:54 --> 24:58 [SPEAKER_03]: What are our legitimate choices to stop this madness?
24:59 --> 25:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Yep, yeah, you know.
25:00 --> 25:01 [SPEAKER_00]: And on the power,
25:01 --> 25:13 [SPEAKER_00]: thing, Ron, I agree with everything there, but I also feel like the main driving, I guess, narrative of this is to me.
25:13 --> 25:15 [SPEAKER_00]: There's Rayneira not using her power.
25:15 --> 25:17 [SPEAKER_00]: When she gets it, she's gotten it.
25:18 --> 25:29 [SPEAKER_00]: And all the little things that come, the administrative stuff, going after Amen, doing this, doing that, she has the power to just say, let's do this.
25:30 --> 25:34 [SPEAKER_00]: And it doesn't seem to happen often enough to her.
25:34 --> 25:37 [SPEAKER_00]: She's just like, okay, we have a problem with the rats.
25:37 --> 25:41 [SPEAKER_00]: Let's fix the rags problem and just say it, let it go and move to the next thing.
25:42 --> 25:44 [SPEAKER_00]: But it's like she's sitting there with a mouth open like what's going on?
25:45 --> 25:45 [SPEAKER_00]: What's going on?
25:45 --> 25:46 [SPEAKER_00]: What's going on?
25:46 --> 25:47 [SPEAKER_00]: What's going on?
25:47 --> 25:47 [SPEAKER_00]: All she has to do,
25:48 --> 25:58 [SPEAKER_00]: As Queen is a third herself in some situations, and she gets pulled everywhere, and that is what I don't know if she's the mad queen or not.
25:58 --> 26:07 [SPEAKER_00]: I forget whether Pistoric or Reference is, but that's what seems to be driving her crazy is that she's being pulled in so many directions, but she does have the power.
26:08 --> 26:09 [SPEAKER_00]: It's not a power struggle here.
26:09 --> 26:10 [SPEAKER_00]: She has it.
26:10 --> 26:13 [SPEAKER_00]: She just does not feel like she doesn't feel like
26:14 --> 26:22 [SPEAKER_00]: She has, she has the dragons, she has the throne, she has a small council, she has an army, she has it all.
26:23 --> 26:27 [SPEAKER_00]: But for some reason, and we're watching this happen, everything feels like it's teetering.
26:28 --> 26:29 [SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know why.
26:29 --> 26:31 [SPEAKER_03]: There's no real reason back to her daddy issues.
26:31 --> 26:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
26:32 --> 26:32 [SPEAKER_03]: Definitely.
26:32 --> 26:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Because Daddy didn't actually have her sit, like you guys were talking in your, uh, your final episode.
26:38 --> 27:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Desaris didn't actually have her chair the small council didn't actually have her sit and do the the small folk you know petitions and and you know making and incrementally making more and more decisions and actually this is how you move these levers this is how you push this button you want to manipulate the master of whispers This is you got to have a separate network that's watching the network and all that kind of stuff nobody ever taught her shit
27:08 --> 27:26 [SPEAKER_03]: And not to mention her dad he knew yeah exactly yeah how much do you know he just kind of everybody was like oh you know jovial white dude every piece of the the yeah kingdoms at peace like we're just right you know we're just And that and that you could kind of feel that's what she picked up on was like this you know go along to get along.
27:26 --> 27:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Hey, everybody's friends.
27:28 --> 27:30 [SPEAKER_02]: Rogo roll cool by y'all
27:34 --> 27:43 [SPEAKER_01]: The more I think about it, I think my comparison divided in Harris is that much stronger because one of the big downfalls of Kamala was not
27:45 --> 27:52 [SPEAKER_01]: disconnecting herself completely from Biden, like when asked, you know, on the view, you know, what would you do differently?
27:52 --> 27:54 [SPEAKER_01]: You didn't have a good answer for that.
27:54 --> 27:57 [SPEAKER_02]: She was one of the worst political moments ever in history.
27:58 --> 28:08 [SPEAKER_01]: But I think it's analogous to Renera in the first half of the season trying to rule like her dad, not really disconnecting herself.
28:08 --> 28:14 [SPEAKER_01]: And not until the end, where she was calling him by his name, not even calling him our father anymore.
28:14 --> 28:16 [SPEAKER_01]: She was just calling him, you know, the Sarah's.
28:17 --> 28:17 [SPEAKER_01]: And so...
28:18 --> 28:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, I think I think a lot of the points you made were good.
28:21 --> 28:40 [SPEAKER_01]: I think JD you asked me, you know, is the political climate and I think about like some of the jokes I made in the earlier episodes where I said she's feeling kind of Trump because like in that episode three, she was worried about her coordination and maybe think about Trump in his ballroom and so.
28:41 --> 29:05 [SPEAKER_01]: uh... like maybe i was making a political gold up in the in the right right right maybe i was making some subconscious connections there but overall i think the episode i mean i think the season was a solid season it was fun to discuss uh... i feel like there's a lot to have to get through with the only one season left i'm a little concerned about season four
29:06 --> 29:20 [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, I've made a point not to spoil myself, but when I listen to, you know, podcast for people talking, people like who read the books or what videos, they've suggested that there's a lot to get through.
29:21 --> 29:24 [SPEAKER_01]: in order to, in only eight episodes left.
29:24 --> 29:29 [SPEAKER_01]: And so the recent conclusion of the book series exactly, right, right, right.
29:29 --> 29:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, thankfully we actually have a complete of books.
29:32 --> 29:37 [SPEAKER_01]: So we don't, we know it, we don't have showrunner's checking out halfway through the season.
29:38 --> 29:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no, which in peace, right.
29:41 --> 29:41 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think,
29:42 --> 29:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Germ is there.
29:43 --> 29:45 [SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna finish the main series.
29:45 --> 29:46 [SPEAKER_03]: Do you traumatize now?
29:46 --> 29:49 [SPEAKER_03]: He's he's like, he's he's so traumatized.
29:49 --> 29:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't think it happened.
29:51 --> 29:54 [SPEAKER_01]: And that's all sorry for like I'm not a book reader.
29:54 --> 29:57 [SPEAKER_01]: So I can't have so sorry for the book readers who've been waiting like 20, 3D years.
29:58 --> 30:00 [SPEAKER_01]: So however it's how long it's been since last book came out.
30:01 --> 30:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm looking forward to season four.
30:03 --> 30:06 [SPEAKER_01]: I think it sucks for your halfway another two years.
30:07 --> 30:09 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm a court comes out two years.
30:09 --> 30:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm crazy.
30:12 --> 30:13 [SPEAKER_03]: points them out to really quick.
30:14 --> 30:25 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know a lot of the histories I haven't read the book, but you know, obviously I hang out with a lot of people who do, but I'm so I won't spoil anything, but I will point out that in the tapestry,
30:26 --> 30:28 [SPEAKER_03]: when Reneer is looking at it before she closes the window.
30:28 --> 30:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
30:30 --> 30:31 [SPEAKER_03]: She sees herself standing there.
30:31 --> 30:31 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
30:31 --> 30:32 [SPEAKER_01]: We all see that.
30:32 --> 30:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
30:33 --> 30:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Flames.
30:33 --> 30:35 [SPEAKER_03]: What's in the background?
30:35 --> 30:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
30:36 --> 30:37 [SPEAKER_01]: It's chaos.
30:37 --> 30:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you see it.
30:38 --> 30:39 [SPEAKER_03]: I'll sit down dragons.
30:39 --> 30:42 [SPEAKER_03]: There's like a disconnected dragon claw.
30:43 --> 30:43 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
30:43 --> 30:44 [SPEAKER_02]: She has her.
30:44 --> 30:44 [SPEAKER_02]: I didn't notice it.
30:45 --> 30:46 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah.
30:46 --> 30:46 [SPEAKER_00]: Flames.
30:46 --> 30:47 [SPEAKER_00]: I swear.
30:47 --> 30:48 [SPEAKER_03]: I saw the flames.
30:50 --> 30:51 [SPEAKER_03]: lightsaber or something like that.
30:51 --> 30:53 [SPEAKER_03]: But it's behind it.
30:53 --> 30:54 [SPEAKER_03]: What's behind it?
30:54 --> 30:56 [SPEAKER_03]: Or dragons going.
30:56 --> 30:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
30:57 --> 30:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
30:57 --> 31:01 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it seems to be dragons in Game of Thrones.
31:01 --> 31:01 [SPEAKER_03]: Remember?
31:02 --> 31:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
31:02 --> 31:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
31:02 --> 31:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
31:03 --> 31:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
31:03 --> 31:06 [SPEAKER_03]: And and simply with all the dragons are killed.
31:06 --> 31:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Night of the seven kingdoms as well, which is about exactly halfway between Game of Thrones and this.
31:12 --> 31:14 [SPEAKER_01]: So we know by night of at seven kingdoms,
31:19 --> 31:25 [SPEAKER_01]: So it'll be curious to see so so my I'm assuming like I haven't read the books.
31:25 --> 31:40 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know But I'm assuming we are gonna see whatever ends all the dragons and we're gonna Figure out who which Targaryen is upsetting on the throne and that's a lot to Punch through on in eight episodes is it eight or nine?
31:40 --> 31:42 [SPEAKER_03]: I think I thought it was nine.
31:42 --> 31:43 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was eight
31:43 --> 31:44 [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, I think you might.
31:45 --> 31:45 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
31:45 --> 31:46 [SPEAKER_01]: So, I'm sorry.
31:46 --> 31:46 [SPEAKER_03]: I just don't see.
31:47 --> 31:48 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
31:48 --> 31:51 [SPEAKER_03]: Anyway, we have nine to seven kingdoms in between.
