BONUS - House of the Dragon pre-s02 Finale Chat

[00:00:00] Hello properly Howard fans, if you've been keeping up with Steve and I's coverage over a double dragon, you know that I've been involved with a House of the Dragon fantasy fantasy league where a group of us got together and gained points by certain phrases and character

[00:00:34] actions done during season 2 of House of the Dragon. Just as a little bit of bonus content here's my conversation with league members Ray, Melanie, Laura, Allison, Nolan, his girlfriend Shai, Allison, Robin and Ken. This conversation assumes that you've seen everything up until episode 7 of season 2 but

[00:00:59] this is a pre-finale conversation. Alright here's the gang. I think as punishment for losing Anthony should have to have both me and Ray for every Daenerys chapter going forward. As someone who was also in that Daenerys chapter that was intense.

[00:01:50] But I have no idea what that could possibly be but I think he's going to bring something to the table. So Otto brings a rabbit to a dragon fight. Is Allison's? But it's a ferocious rabbit. I have a prediction and what I would really like to see.

[00:02:13] I think that the Lannisters and Daemon are there's going to have to be some fighting there, some sort of situation and I just really want to see a dragon eat a lion. Alright so Laura would like to see, she's not predicting that but she would like to see

[00:02:28] a dragon eat a lion. Oh the words why are they showing us a lion in that big motorcade for no reason? The mascots, those lions are not going to be beneficial. Exactly! And the dragon eats the lion because it's symbolic. Who's next?

[00:02:47] I feel like we're due a big death. We got Raidenice earlier in the season. Somebody with blonde hair is getting kicked off the board in this last episode in my opinion. I think we're going to have a showdown at Heron Hall and I'm not quite sure who all

[00:03:07] is going to be there. There's a lot of moving pieces but something's going to happen there and it's going to be bloody and there's going to be dragon fire and potentially lots of death. That's my guess. It'll be the ghost of Daemon's mother.

[00:03:20] She's going to show up again. She's showing up right. I see that kind of party Anthony. My prediction, Daemon is going to stop whatever the hell this season is and swear fealty to his goddamn wife, get it together.

[00:03:41] I think they're going to leave us with a big cliffhanger. I think they're going to go right up to a Daemon showdown and then not give it to us. Okay Rae, can you give us one of these and behave while you do it? No. Okay.

[00:03:57] Alright, I just want to say for the record, I didn't watch the whole show. There was two scenes that like, so I'll scroll through the videos on Twitter and I was just scrolling through and then I just saw this scene and I couldn't stop.

[00:04:17] I just let it kick through. Let me ask you this. You spoiled yourself. Let me ask you, Rae, are you happy with yourself? No. I love it. I can't wait to watch it again. I love it. My prediction here is the same thing that I watched.

[00:04:35] You all are going to go fucking crazy as I did and I can't wait to talk to you all about this fucking scene. Nice. Rae, have you seen that the HBO yesterday dropped a like sneak peek or something like that? Did any of you guys see that? No.

[00:04:54] I don't need a sneak peek. I saw I got a full peek. Well, I was wondering if they were using that to combat some of whatever you found. I don't know. Oh no. I don't want to see it. I'm like, yeah, I only watched two scenes.

[00:05:10] So I don't I don't know how it's going to end. I think these scenes were like relatively in the beginning. So in full, how would you say time wise? Like two minutes, three minutes? I'm not saying anything. Don't worry about it.

[00:05:21] I want to say that I just saw two scenes. They felt like they were relatively early on in this episode. I don't know. I don't have an inkling of how it's going to end.

[00:05:34] I still have no idea where they're going to where they're going to drop us off at. Yeah. But goddamn, the scene that I watched, it was so good. It was so good and I cannot wait to talk to you all about it.

[00:05:49] How much how much better would this season have been stands, you know, Damon's fever dreams? Yeah. Oh, I like not just I'm enjoying Damon and Aaron Hall. I'm enjoying the now every day or have you enjoyed the ball? It's the pace. Bring back his mother.

[00:06:05] I want to see the goat involved. Of course you do. I know. I love Millie Elcock so much. I want to see her in every single episode. Please more dream. She is. Okay. There's just a lot of scenes that just didn't move things forward.

[00:06:18] The pacing was definitely slower. Okay. Going back to Damon's fever dreams, except for maybe it'll impact his less for the crown. Has anyone noticed any change that he's gone through? Like the guy doesn't even look tired when he's there, like when he's awake.

[00:06:36] I would think he'd be exhausted and like, I don't know. I wish I saw more of an impact on him. There's no way that the day minute at the beginning of the season would allow himself to be pushed around by Oscar Tully.

[00:06:50] And so he was willing to lose face for a larger political agenda. There's a beginning of the season. He was horrible at politics. He was just a completely novice at politics. I'll say, I feel like Matt Smith looks tired most of the time in general.

[00:07:07] But that's just my personal opinion. Jeff Cutie Lee. All right. You just got Melanie fired up. I just think that we didn't need episode two through seven to go through this arc. All right, Melanie, you had some information to share with us.

[00:07:27] Maybe if we do this in future seasons. Yeah. So first thing, obviously your grace has to go. It was said a total of 173 times. And in just the first seven episodes and the next like highest raked phrase is at 28.

[00:08:02] So I just had to explain to shy why he's GB 10 and not just. All right, right. Oh my God. So we were like fighting on immortal. We were fighting an immortal. He's not even saying anything. He's just smirking over there. Yeah. Yeah.

[00:08:22] What do you think you are, Damon? I'm doing my game of smirk over here in the corner. Yeah. Ken's over there driving in his GD Tesla somehow. Yeah. I was with his GD family. With his GD family. Okay.

[00:08:36] Now when Ken goes up against Steve B, neither of them get to use your grace, right? Neither of them. So they get points for all like their characters saying anything still, right? Like the full list. Right. Yeah. So neither of them get to use your grace.

[00:08:56] As a phrase that they have ownership of. Yeah. As a phrase that they have that they get points for other people saying or that they can use as a multiplier. So any predictions GD Ken? No, Steve's got a good team.

[00:09:13] I was looking at his team a lot this week to try to figure out which phrase I would use to replace your grace. The one thing that I was nervous about because he picked, can I say Melanie, what he picked? Yeah. Okay. So he picked Dracarys.

[00:09:29] And so I was thinking about doing something with that as well in anticipation of a fire battle with dragons. Yeah. So my thought was because Aegon was not saying Dracarys and that the lack of high Valyrian

[00:09:45] being taught to the new dragon riders, I didn't think that Dracarys was going to be used as much as maybe it could have been. So I went with seven to go. This is why we've bent the knee for you. Yes, very good. So all right.

[00:10:03] Any final feelings about this season as a whole or the season finale? So I have a question. What are our bets on who's coming out ahead at the end of this season, team green or team black? Oh, I'm 100% team black.

[00:10:25] Unless they push every single dragon, they have to be slow. The hyena is on the rise. Team green, they have one full-fledged dragon rider. Here's the thing about that. This is a show that is built. This is a show that's built on subverting expectations.

[00:10:47] So everything looks weighted toward team black, right? Oh, we still haven't seen Allison's other boy yet. Deron. The way they're talking about him, he sounds like he's the next coming for their team.

[00:11:01] And then we're also, you know, we're all hung up on dragon riders getting killed in dragon fire. But these people can still get taken out by very mundane ways. A little spooking in their tea. A little acid summation. Exactly. A little acid. A little head rash.

[00:11:22] Her sister might have a tantrum. That is true. I would say my, what I think, and this is again, this is uninformed thinking, is that it can't be left away the last episode ended. The last episode ended with like the blacks feeling like this shit, this is ours,

[00:11:45] we got this, we got all the dragons. And it was a big hurrah. I don't think they make us wait two years without like something for the greens where you're just like thinking like, oh, this shit just changed again. You're thinking more along the lines of like showmanship.

[00:12:04] I'm thinking something, I think something is going to happen to shift the balance of power right now. Right now, Reneira looks like the almighty and that her rise is inevitable. We got maybe three seasons of this. Something's got to be like, you know what I'm saying?

[00:12:19] Half of her dragon riders don't even have learner's permits. Yeah.
