00:01 --> 00:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
00:03 --> 00:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm right, right!
00:06 --> 00:20 [UNKNOWN]: Nice to meet you, everyone!
00:22 --> 00:23 [SPEAKER_01]: So, see, World's have collided.
00:24 --> 00:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right here.
00:26 --> 00:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Usually we do this across the country from one another and now we're sitting across the table.
00:30 --> 00:31 [SPEAKER_00]: But very close.
00:31 --> 00:32 [SPEAKER_00]: Very close.
00:33 --> 00:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Two guys, one Mike, you may have seen this video.
00:37 --> 00:40 [SPEAKER_01]: If there was a candle on the table, this would be romantic.
00:40 --> 00:41 [SPEAKER_01]: We would be blowing it out.
00:41 --> 00:43 [SPEAKER_01]: We're talking so close to each other.
00:43 --> 00:45 [SPEAKER_01]: So the world's have collided.
00:45 --> 00:49 [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen you in your natural habitat that included singing hearts.
00:50 --> 00:51 [SPEAKER_01]: How do I get you alone?
00:51 --> 00:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Are you okay?
00:52 --> 00:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
00:52 --> 00:55 [SPEAKER_01]: You seen me in my natural habitat, which included going into the dump?
00:55 --> 00:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
00:57 --> 00:58 [SPEAKER_00]: We've pretty much covered everything.
00:58 --> 01:00 [SPEAKER_00]: We're back, right back where we left off.
01:00 --> 01:04 [SPEAKER_01]: So I want to talk to you a little bit about part of,
01:06 --> 01:08 [SPEAKER_01]: being physically in the same space as you.
01:09 --> 01:11 [SPEAKER_01]: As I can see what you're wearing, yeah.
01:12 --> 01:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I was going to bring up this shirt that you're wearing right now this morning in this conversation regardless of whether or not you wore it.
01:20 --> 01:21 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, well there we go.
01:21 --> 01:27 [SPEAKER_01]: So you are wearing a Gremlins II character shirt.
01:27 --> 01:28 [SPEAKER_01]: This is Greta Gremlins.
01:28 --> 01:30 [SPEAKER_01]: The very sexy female Gremlins.
01:31 --> 01:31 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:32 --> 01:35 [SPEAKER_01]: And you wore that when we went to the dump.
01:35 --> 01:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right.
01:36 --> 01:38 [SPEAKER_01]: So here's this is this kind of guy talk.
01:38 --> 01:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Now, right, when you put it on, did you think Anthony will appreciate this teacher?
01:44 --> 01:45 [SPEAKER_00]: It's a Friday shirt for me.
01:46 --> 01:47 [SPEAKER_01]: It's usually Friday shirt.
01:47 --> 01:48 [SPEAKER_00]: This is one.
01:48 --> 01:51 [SPEAKER_00]: There's there's a handful of Friday shirts.
01:51 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not in the office.
01:52 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
01:53 --> 01:55 [SPEAKER_00]: So I will put this one on.
01:55 --> 01:57 [SPEAKER_00]: I have a point break shirt that I'll put on.
01:59 --> 02:01 [SPEAKER_00]: There is a yacht rock shirt that I'll put on some time.
02:01 --> 02:08 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, that makes me feel a little bit better because I did notice it when we went to the dump together.
02:09 --> 02:10 [SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't say anything about it.
02:11 --> 02:12 [SPEAKER_01]: And I don't know why.
02:12 --> 02:17 [SPEAKER_01]: I think it might have been a masculinity thing like, this is what girls do.
02:18 --> 02:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Girls.
02:19 --> 02:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Girls compliment each other's attire.
02:22 --> 02:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe men of our generation don't really do that.
02:26 --> 02:27 [SPEAKER_01]: And then afterwards,
02:28 --> 02:30 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought, you know what, I liked the T-shirt, why didn't I just say it?
02:31 --> 02:35 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I think it's because I think this is a perfect example of the world's colliding right?
02:35 --> 02:37 [SPEAKER_00]: Because that's a very Midwest approach.
02:38 --> 02:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Sure, I think to friendship, whereas when we got together for the first time, I think one of the first things I told you was I was impressed by your arms.
02:47 --> 02:51 [SPEAKER_00]: So I think from a California perspective, I'm pretty settled in.
02:58 --> 03:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, thank you, and thank you again for your compliment.
03:00 --> 03:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate that I was wearing a shirt that was an homage to a podcast that we did and you didn't mention it and I was wondering I was just kind of curious like was it was it that masculinity kind of thing?
03:17 --> 03:18 [SPEAKER_00]: No, I wasn't.
03:18 --> 03:20 [SPEAKER_01]: You just wasn't wearing a pants shirt, right?
03:20 --> 03:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was
03:26 --> 03:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I have enlisting boxes because I've just moved to us.
03:29 --> 03:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I was wearing a black shirt with the name Vince.
03:33 --> 03:35 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, yeah, the color of my, I did notice the shirt.
03:35 --> 03:39 [SPEAKER_01]: So you did know that you didn't say anything.
03:39 --> 03:40 [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know you were trying to impress me.
03:41 --> 03:44 [SPEAKER_01]: I was saving that t-shirt, I won't say that.
03:45 --> 03:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I sometimes I wear that t-shirt.
03:46 --> 03:49 [SPEAKER_00]: So what you didn't compliment, you didn't say anything about my shirt or the retribution.
03:50 --> 03:58 [SPEAKER_01]: You felt slighted that I did not recognize that I was taking my like I forgot how to be a man in California I was taking my lead from you.
03:58 --> 04:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I do wear that shirt on occasion, but it's always met with Not really scorn but sort of perplexed disappointment by my wife She's like what is Vince?
04:11 --> 04:11 [SPEAKER_01]: What is Vince?
04:12 --> 04:13 [SPEAKER_01]: What why are you wearing a shirt?
04:13 --> 04:16 [SPEAKER_01]: That's Vince and I have to every time I have to explain it's
04:17 --> 04:22 [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's funny, it's what Tom Cruise wears in the color of money.
04:22 --> 04:25 [SPEAKER_01]: His name is Vince, he wears a shirt, this has Vince, he wears it so much.
04:27 --> 04:29 [SPEAKER_01]: And I bought it, I thought that was good.
04:29 --> 04:32 [SPEAKER_01]: So I thought you, you have all people who appreciate it, and you just say nothing.
04:33 --> 04:33 [SPEAKER_00]: No, I didn't know.
04:33 --> 04:34 [SPEAKER_00]: I did recognize him.
04:34 --> 04:38 [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, yeah, he's got a color money shirt in my head, and I'm like, well, he knows that.
04:38 --> 04:43 [SPEAKER_01]: He's like, it's like, we were at a conference and I was wearing my name tag.
04:43 --> 04:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like that.
04:44 --> 04:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, your name's Anthony.
04:45 --> 04:46 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
04:46 --> 04:47 [SPEAKER_01]: He knows that, all right.
04:47 --> 04:48 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
04:48 --> 04:56 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so today we're discussing the next season of properly Howard, the theme this season is pretty simple.
04:58 --> 05:09 [SPEAKER_00]: it is double features yeah and but it's not so simple because when I explained or I told a Heather that we're doing double features she's like so like
05:10 --> 05:13 [SPEAKER_00]: like a movie and it's sequel and like a movie that would pair together.
05:13 --> 05:15 [SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's what you said this.
05:15 --> 05:19 [SPEAKER_01]: So we probably do need to explain to people what a double feature is.
05:20 --> 05:20 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
05:21 --> 05:22 [SPEAKER_01]: See what is a double feature?
05:22 --> 05:26 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, a double feature would be would like we used to go to Empire Cinema here in Ronda Park.
05:26 --> 05:30 [SPEAKER_00]: And Ronda Park would have double features almost exclusively.
05:30 --> 05:31 [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's all it would do.
05:31 --> 05:34 [SPEAKER_00]: And they were always the movies that were on their way out of the United Artists that like U.A.
05:34 --> 05:35 [SPEAKER_00]: six, U.A.
05:35 --> 05:38 [SPEAKER_00]: five, the ones that were like on their main run.
05:40 --> 05:41 [SPEAKER_00]: This is back before streaming.
05:41 --> 05:50 [SPEAKER_00]: This is back when there was a dead period between a movie's release and it's released, like in the theater and it's released on VHS.
05:50 --> 05:56 [SPEAKER_00]: And so Empire cinemas was sort of like a purgatory where you could watch these movies that had already been, you know, they'd already run their course.
05:56 --> 06:04 [SPEAKER_00]: And you could do it less expensive, much less expensive because if you really, it would be cheaper than one ticket at the other places and you'd get two.
06:05 --> 06:07 [SPEAKER_00]: And they were usually paired somewhat,
06:08 --> 06:18 [SPEAKER_00]: Logically okay, so you would see things like the logically is the important part right so we're looking around the same time frame so it's not like they're just going to pick two movies at random it would have to be
06:19 --> 06:47 [SPEAKER_00]: two movies that are on their way out so you would probably see like a lethal weapon with you know name another action film that came out around that time that is sort of on its on its tail end out i mean just for the sake of having its conversations i don't think it's accurate but it would be like tango and cash and lethal weapon would be together yeah you know a couple of buddy movies cop movies action and so that way it would make sense to watch a both right i mean it would be weird if it was you know lethal weapon and remains of the day
06:48 --> 06:49 [SPEAKER_01]: that would be odd now.
06:50 --> 07:00 [SPEAKER_01]: The theme for this season is double features and I think that we should interpret this somewhat loosely but we should be able to explain why these two movies are paired together.
07:00 --> 07:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Right, okay.
07:02 --> 07:09 [SPEAKER_01]: So these are movies that like you finish one movie and you're in a particular headspace and you think, you know what?
07:09 --> 07:11 [SPEAKER_00]: I think I'm not fit on this movie.
07:11 --> 07:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Now, it could have a similar theme, it could have a similar genre, something that maybe struck you like, if I'm sitting at home and I'm watching the lighthouse.
07:25 --> 07:30 [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm in a headspace, but I could be like, man, I really do love me some willing to foe going for it.
07:31 --> 07:33 [SPEAKER_00]: So I might want to lean towards remains of the day.
07:36 --> 07:42 [SPEAKER_00]: So maybe I'm like, you know what, give me some Spider-Man, give me a modern, you know, a modern willing to foe as opposed to like an old time you willing to foe.
07:43 --> 07:44 [SPEAKER_00]: Or it could be like,
07:44 --> 07:50 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'd take a black and white movie, you know, or I like, I like feeling this level of anxiety.
07:51 --> 07:57 [SPEAKER_00]: I like it when a one guy dances and throws up, like those could be the kinds of, that might move me towards my next watch.
07:57 --> 08:04 [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm so I might have been inspired during the movie because something, something particular was, was putting, like, just tickling my fans.
08:04 --> 08:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
08:05 --> 08:05 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
08:05 --> 08:07 [SPEAKER_01]: So what we've done,
08:07 --> 08:16 [SPEAKER_01]: As we've just come up with movies, I've come up with sex, Steve's come up with sex, we're going to read them to each other and then it will be our responsibility to then pair.
08:17 --> 08:19 [SPEAKER_01]: movies with the other person's movies.
08:20 --> 08:20 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
08:21 --> 08:23 [SPEAKER_00]: So we get the headspace.
08:23 --> 08:26 [SPEAKER_00]: We create our own headspace based on the inspiration of the titles.
08:26 --> 08:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
08:27 --> 08:37 [SPEAKER_01]: And so we're going to do a break in the middle of this podcast and we'll come back together for us it will be a week later for the listeners that will happen right after the break.
08:38 --> 08:41 [SPEAKER_01]: We'll come up with pool of movies and then we will
08:47 --> 08:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Listener suggestion and the key is is that we don't care they just pick and choose.
08:52 --> 08:56 [SPEAKER_00]: We pick pairs We pick the pairs, but it's up to us to maybe be able to justify it.
08:56 --> 08:57 [SPEAKER_01]: All right Steve.
08:57 --> 08:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Why don't you go first?
08:58 --> 09:01 [SPEAKER_00]: All right We'll go one one one one that kind of weird.
09:01 --> 09:05 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all right The first movie I'm gonna pick is the devil's advocate.
09:06 --> 09:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Now we've talked about this one All right, this is this is really broken Al Pacino
09:14 --> 09:18 [SPEAKER_01]: where he's his volume, knob broke.
09:18 --> 09:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, he can only shout at 10.
09:22 --> 09:25 [SPEAKER_01]: And then we have Keanu.
09:25 --> 09:25 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
09:27 --> 09:34 [SPEAKER_01]: And what are these two things?
09:34 --> 09:34 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
09:34 --> 09:34 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
09:34 --> 09:34 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
09:34 --> 09:35 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
09:35 --> 09:35 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
09:35 --> 09:35 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
09:35 --> 09:35 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
09:35 --> 09:36 [SPEAKER_01]: We wouldn't.
09:36 --> 09:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Normally we wouldn't spoil these movies at the time.
09:39 --> 09:41 [SPEAKER_00]: But you probably already guessed.
09:42 --> 09:49 [SPEAKER_00]: If you've been holding out on watching Devil's Advocate for whatever reason All right, so this is good.
09:49 --> 09:52 [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm gonna come up with a pairing for that.
09:52 --> 10:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna have a week to think about it Devil's Advocate All right, here's my first movie Joe versus the volcano.
10:01 --> 10:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh wonderful.
10:03 --> 10:04 [SPEAKER_01]: I love this movie.
10:04 --> 10:04 [SPEAKER_01]: It's 1990.
10:04 --> 10:07 [SPEAKER_01]: I just there's there was a time in the 90s.
10:07 --> 10:10 [SPEAKER_01]: They're early 90s when
10:11 --> 10:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Those films just did something to my brain chemistry.
10:16 --> 10:19 [SPEAKER_01]: It hardwired certain parts of my brain.
10:20 --> 10:25 [SPEAKER_01]: And I love these movies, and this is one of those movies that is not a great movie.
10:26 --> 10:28 [SPEAKER_01]: No, but I love it.
10:28 --> 10:29 [SPEAKER_01]: I love this movie.
10:30 --> 10:34 [SPEAKER_01]: This is Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan and a volcano.
10:34 --> 10:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
10:35 --> 10:38 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry if you haven't seen it, and we support it on that period as well.
10:40 --> 10:46 [SPEAKER_01]: So it will be Steve's responsibility to come up with a pairing for Joe versus the volcano.
10:47 --> 10:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I'll be interested to see what you come up with.
10:49 --> 10:50 [SPEAKER_00]: Now it is now your turn.
10:51 --> 10:52 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go with Bagania.
10:53 --> 10:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Bagania, I did see Bagania.
10:56 --> 10:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Jesse Plamens, Emma Stone.
10:59 --> 11:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Now, I am not a big fan of your ghost, Lantamos, so much so that you don't even care to get his name or I don't even care to get it.
11:10 --> 11:15 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I've ever liked any of his movies, but I kind of like this one.
11:17 --> 11:22 [SPEAKER_01]: So, all right, so that is well taken.
11:22 --> 11:24 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking forward to watching that again.
11:25 --> 11:29 [SPEAKER_01]: You're gonna hate this little boy, but it is one of my favorites.
11:31 --> 11:32 [SPEAKER_01]: a river runs through it.
11:32 --> 11:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Never seen it.
11:34 --> 11:35 [SPEAKER_01]: This is 1992.
11:36 --> 11:40 [SPEAKER_01]: This is a young Brad Pitt.
11:40 --> 11:42 [SPEAKER_01]: He never looked better than in this movie.
11:42 --> 11:43 [SPEAKER_01]: I will say.
11:44 --> 11:45 [SPEAKER_01]: This is about brothers.
11:45 --> 11:47 [SPEAKER_01]: This is a period piece.
11:47 --> 11:50 [SPEAKER_01]: There is a river involved in this movie.
11:50 --> 11:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, another boy.
11:53 --> 11:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Brad Pitt is handsome and there is a river.
11:55 --> 11:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's talk about this for a minute.
11:58 --> 11:59 [SPEAKER_01]: you've not seen it.
12:00 --> 12:08 [SPEAKER_01]: How are you going to determine the pairing you're going to watch at first and then determine or are you just going to like get a general idea?
12:08 --> 12:10 [SPEAKER_00]: I think I can get a general idea.
12:10 --> 12:13 [SPEAKER_00]: Because I don't want to, because I haven't seen it, I don't want to like spoil it.
12:13 --> 12:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, and we don't want to spoil anything except for the times we just did.
12:17 --> 12:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, so I'll get, I'll do a vibe check and I'll, you know, and there are some things that I, the cover of the,
12:26 --> 12:29 [SPEAKER_00]: the DVD probably will do a lot to inspire me.
12:30 --> 12:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
12:30 --> 12:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
12:31 --> 12:31 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
12:32 --> 12:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, my next, oh no, it's your next film.
12:34 --> 12:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
12:34 --> 12:35 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
12:35 --> 12:38 [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I'd like to go with maximum overdrive.
12:39 --> 12:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Who was in this?
12:40 --> 12:41 [SPEAKER_00]: Emilio Estivas.
12:42 --> 12:49 [SPEAKER_00]: And um, the guy who plays Eddie Arcadian from Barry Gordies, the last dragon.
12:55 --> 12:56 [SPEAKER_01]: and maximum overdrive.
12:56 --> 12:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, Bugonia was my other one.
12:58 --> 13:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, okay, it doesn't matter.
13:02 --> 13:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Cutting all of that.
13:03 --> 13:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
13:04 --> 13:04 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
13:05 --> 13:05 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
13:06 --> 13:07 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
13:07 --> 13:19 [SPEAKER_01]: So, my next film is a film I've never seen, but I think is appropriate given the time and space it were to recording this and that is nine to five.
13:19 --> 13:20 [SPEAKER_00]: Ooh, yeah.
13:20 --> 13:20 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
13:21 --> 13:29 [SPEAKER_01]: So, we got Lily Tomlin, we've got Dolly Parton, and who else is in?
13:29 --> 13:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Jane Fonda, Jane Fonda.
13:30 --> 13:33 [SPEAKER_00]: And of course, my favorite Japanese.
13:35 --> 13:38 [SPEAKER_01]: One of the ten best debnies ever to have the name.
13:38 --> 13:41 [SPEAKER_00]: So, so far, there's the terms of vibe check.
13:41 --> 13:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
13:42 --> 13:46 [SPEAKER_00]: I've got killer vehicles.
13:46 --> 13:49 [SPEAKER_00]: I've got the devil and a kind of...
13:50 --> 13:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Kidnapping sinister plot, you have Wimsy.
13:53 --> 13:56 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
13:56 --> 13:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
13:57 --> 13:57 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
13:58 --> 13:58 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
13:58 --> 14:00 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:00 --> 14:00 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:00 --> 14:01 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:01 --> 14:02 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:02 --> 14:03 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:03 --> 14:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:05 --> 14:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:05 --> 14:07 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:07 --> 14:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:09 --> 14:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:11 --> 14:12 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:12 --> 14:13 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:13 --> 14:14 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:14 --> 14:15 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:15 --> 14:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:16 --> 14:17 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:17 --> 14:18 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I wouldn't actually...
14:19 --> 14:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I saw this once.
14:21 --> 14:22 [SPEAKER_01]: I was 11 years old.
14:24 --> 14:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I remember, as an 11 year old thinking, this is very impossible.
14:31 --> 14:32 [SPEAKER_00]: But Alyssa Milano was in it.
14:32 --> 14:35 [SPEAKER_00]: So you're 11 years old and everything, everything was right with the world.
14:37 --> 14:37 [SPEAKER_01]: Commander.
14:38 --> 14:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Schwarzenegger, who else is a car with?
14:42 --> 14:42 [SPEAKER_01]: There's in this one?
14:42 --> 14:52 [SPEAKER_00]: No, you're thinking action Jackson, which now in retrospect, it probably should be action Jackson, with a karate master Craig and T Nelson.
14:54 --> 14:54 [SPEAKER_00]: Really?
14:54 --> 14:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
14:56 --> 14:57 [SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
14:57 --> 14:58 [SPEAKER_00]: So think about that in terms of Perry.
14:58 --> 14:59 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
14:59 --> 15:03 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, is now my turn.
15:04 --> 15:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm going to give you a choice.
15:07 --> 15:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Would you rather have a movie that I think is a bad movie that I enjoy?
15:13 --> 15:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Or do you want to think, would you rather have a good movie that other people think is a bad movie?
15:21 --> 15:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Hmm, wow, that's really, you choose.
15:27 --> 15:28 [SPEAKER_01]: The first one is,
15:29 --> 15:30 [SPEAKER_01]: It's a bad movie that I enjoy.
15:31 --> 15:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Kind of a guilty pleasure.
15:32 --> 15:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Gotcha.
15:33 --> 15:35 [SPEAKER_00]: Is it the end of Dr. Murrow?
15:35 --> 15:37 [SPEAKER_01]: It is not.
15:37 --> 15:39 [SPEAKER_01]: But now that you mentioned it.
15:39 --> 15:43 [SPEAKER_01]: The other one is a movie that's critically pupooed.
15:44 --> 15:45 [SPEAKER_01]: But I think there's a good movie.
15:45 --> 15:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
15:48 --> 15:49 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to go with the former.
15:49 --> 15:53 [SPEAKER_01]: This is millennium with Chris.
15:53 --> 15:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Chris, this is awesome.
15:56 --> 15:57 [SPEAKER_01]: This is 89.
15:58 --> 16:01 [SPEAKER_01]: It's got Cheryl lad in it, why wouldn't it?
16:01 --> 16:06 [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not going to spoil anything about this movie, because I don't see exactly what the cover of it looks like.
16:07 --> 16:09 [SPEAKER_00]: And I remember I was going, Christopher, stop for a second.
16:10 --> 16:14 [SPEAKER_00]: So, if you felt a little late, this is good for Christopher.
16:14 --> 16:18 [SPEAKER_01]: This is almost the perfect property however moving.
16:18 --> 16:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I won't say anything else about that.
16:22 --> 16:27 [SPEAKER_00]: So one thing I'm going to be looking for is somebody with the first name that also shows up in their last name.
16:27 --> 16:28 [SPEAKER_00]: That would be the double time.
16:30 --> 16:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
16:30 --> 16:31 [SPEAKER_00]: If only it was male, no Gibson.
16:34 --> 16:35 [SPEAKER_00]: And then it's your turn.
16:35 --> 16:36 [SPEAKER_00]: You're the last film.
16:36 --> 16:36 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
16:37 --> 16:39 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to give you a choice.
16:39 --> 16:44 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you want something a little more modern that sort of follows in the category of sort of like,
16:47 --> 16:53 [SPEAKER_00]: in the founder type realm, or something, 80s, and uncertain.
16:56 --> 16:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, my preference is the former.
16:58 --> 16:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
16:58 --> 16:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
16:59 --> 16:59 [SPEAKER_00]: So the air.
17:00 --> 17:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Air, okay.
17:01 --> 17:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
17:03 --> 17:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I enjoyed the air.
17:03 --> 17:06 [SPEAKER_00]: You're just, you're just a way to time bandits.
17:09 --> 17:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I just, I did recently watch time bandits.
17:11 --> 17:12 [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't get through.
17:13 --> 17:15 [SPEAKER_01]: I've never been successful on every watch.
17:18 --> 17:24 [SPEAKER_01]: And then this is the last film I've been trying to shoot or in this into a lot of different seasons.
17:25 --> 17:27 [SPEAKER_01]: This is one of my favorite films.
17:27 --> 17:31 [SPEAKER_01]: It just knocked off when Harry and Matt Sally on my top 10 this year.
17:32 --> 17:34 [SPEAKER_01]: It is the film Zodiac.
17:35 --> 17:36 [SPEAKER_00]: We did Zodiac.
17:36 --> 17:38 [SPEAKER_00]: Almost positive, we've done Zodiac.
17:38 --> 17:40 [SPEAKER_01]: I know that it was on a list, but I think it got bumped.
17:40 --> 17:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, did Zodiac got bumped?
17:42 --> 17:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
17:43 --> 17:45 [SPEAKER_01]: It was on one of our lists, but I think it got bumped.
17:48 --> 17:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever the case is, we're going to rewatch Zodiac every day on the point.
17:55 --> 18:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I just simply remember thinking, I just don't have time for this, we're going to have to shorten the season and I regretted it.
18:03 --> 18:04 [SPEAKER_00]: Gotcha.
18:04 --> 18:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
18:04 --> 18:05 [SPEAKER_00]: Zodiac it is.
18:05 --> 18:06 [SPEAKER_00]: So Zodiac it is.
18:07 --> 18:08 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
18:08 --> 18:09 [SPEAKER_00]: So we are going to...
18:09 --> 18:10 [SPEAKER_00]: Wait, that's only five, right?
18:11 --> 18:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, let me let me read my my six.
18:14 --> 18:14 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
18:15 --> 18:24 [SPEAKER_01]: My six are Joe versus Volcano river and through it 95 Millennium Zodiac and I've got one more.
18:24 --> 18:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I'm so do I I'm gonna propose that we both Both add those all right.
18:34 --> 18:34 [SPEAKER_00]: I'll go next
18:36 --> 18:37 [SPEAKER_00]: Psycho too.
18:37 --> 18:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Psycho too.
18:39 --> 18:40 [SPEAKER_00]: I've never seen psycho.
18:40 --> 18:41 [SPEAKER_00]: Me neither.
18:42 --> 18:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
18:44 --> 18:46 [SPEAKER_00]: But I've heard it's actually good.
18:47 --> 18:50 [SPEAKER_00]: And you know, it's appreciated over time.
18:50 --> 18:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Is it a hitchcock?
18:52 --> 18:52 [SPEAKER_00]: No.
18:53 --> 18:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, then what are we doing?
18:55 --> 18:56 [SPEAKER_00]: We're watching the different one.
18:57 --> 19:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, all right, then this last one, I've been also trying to shoehorn into a season for a while and I haven't been able to do it.
19:07 --> 19:10 [SPEAKER_01]: It is Spike Lee's inside man.
19:11 --> 19:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, I like Muslim inside man.
19:13 --> 19:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Now we actually are going to go to break, and when you hear us next, the sound quality might be different, because we will be a weak older.
19:27 --> 19:27 [SPEAKER_00]: Steve, we're back.
19:28 --> 19:28 [SPEAKER_01]: we are.
19:29 --> 19:30 [SPEAKER_01]: It's been a week.
19:30 --> 19:35 [SPEAKER_01]: You've had some time to consider the films I chose for us.
19:35 --> 19:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
19:35 --> 19:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I've had some time to consider yours.
19:39 --> 19:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Are you ready to pair these films with a thematic double feature?
19:46 --> 19:47 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
19:47 --> 19:52 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I was going to, I was like, oh, she'll be explaining it again, but then I realized that you're going to stitch these together.
19:53 --> 19:53 [SPEAKER_00]: So the explanation.
19:54 --> 19:55 [SPEAKER_00]: is just happened.
19:56 --> 19:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Now for us it's like ancient history.
19:59 --> 20:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it could be that this still doesn't make sense to listeners, but that's fine.
20:04 --> 20:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like if you're if you chose vice versa, a logical choice, I might be like father like son.
20:09 --> 20:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that makes sense.
20:11 --> 20:22 [SPEAKER_00]: Which by the way, I mean with Kirk Cameron, you know, being a staunch vocal Christian, I really think it's overdue for the sequel like father like son like Holy Spirit.
20:26 --> 20:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think it tells us how committed he actually is that that hasn't happened.
20:30 --> 20:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's all fake.
20:32 --> 20:33 [SPEAKER_01]: It's all fake.
20:33 --> 20:34 [SPEAKER_01]: All for show.
20:37 --> 20:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Do you want to go first?
20:39 --> 20:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you want me to go first?
20:40 --> 20:40 [SPEAKER_00]: I'll do.
20:41 --> 20:41 [SPEAKER_00]: I'll pair one of yours.
20:42 --> 20:42 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
20:42 --> 20:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Wonderful.
20:43 --> 20:44 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
20:44 --> 20:47 [SPEAKER_00]: So, uh, uh, you have Joe versus the volcano.
20:49 --> 20:53 [SPEAKER_00]: And I am going to pair it with short time.
20:55 --> 20:56 [SPEAKER_01]: short time.
20:57 --> 21:00 [SPEAKER_00]: A rare film where Dabney Coleman is the lead.
21:01 --> 21:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Short time.
21:02 --> 21:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
21:03 --> 21:04 [SPEAKER_01]: I am not.
21:04 --> 21:06 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I've ever heard of this movie.
21:06 --> 21:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Dabney Coleman plays a detective.
21:10 --> 21:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
21:11 --> 21:22 [SPEAKER_00]: And and and and due to a switch up with his um like one of his medical like checkups uh he believes that he only has weeks to live from a
21:24 --> 21:29 [SPEAKER_00]: and he finds out that his life insurance policy will pay out more to his family if he dies in the line of duty.
21:30 --> 21:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, so this is this I love it.
21:32 --> 21:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Number one, it's a 1990 film, which is exactly when Joe versus volcano was done.
21:40 --> 21:46 [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, of course, Tom Hanks and Debny Coleman are definitely on each other's corner in 1990.
21:47 --> 21:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Does Debny Coleman play his father in, uh, you've got mail.
21:51 --> 21:52 [SPEAKER_01]: I do believe that's true.
21:52 --> 21:59 [SPEAKER_01]: I also think that Dabney Coleman was actually the first choice for Philadelphia For both parts.
22:00 --> 22:13 [SPEAKER_01]: It was really gonna be it is no he was it was just the Denzel part He was just he was just voicing Denzel So and of course there are the medical links there.
22:13 --> 22:14 [SPEAKER_01]: I like this a lot now.
22:14 --> 22:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I I've not seen this movie.
22:16 --> 22:18 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it's a good movie, but it
22:19 --> 22:20 [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't have to be.
22:20 --> 22:26 [SPEAKER_01]: It absolutely works as a thematic, uh, pair with.
22:26 --> 22:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have it.
22:26 --> 22:28 [SPEAKER_00]: Looking at this one.
22:28 --> 22:29 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm hoping this one makes the cut.
22:29 --> 22:31 [SPEAKER_00]: I think this will be a fun ride.
22:31 --> 22:32 [SPEAKER_00]: It's Dabney Coleman.
22:32 --> 22:36 [SPEAKER_00]: It's Matt Fruer as not Max headroom, which is exciting.
22:37 --> 22:43 [SPEAKER_00]: So not only do you have Dabney Coleman as the lead, but you have Matt Fruer as a regular person.
22:43 --> 22:46 [SPEAKER_00]: And of course, if you're going to have Dabney Coleman,
22:46 --> 22:49 [SPEAKER_00]: in a comedy, you probably should have Terry Garren there, so.
22:51 --> 22:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Excellent, excellent, excellent.
22:53 --> 22:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, speaking of Terry Garren, I'd like to offer my first, alright, pairing.
22:59 --> 23:01 [SPEAKER_01]: You chose Devil's Advocate?
23:02 --> 23:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
23:02 --> 23:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I'm going to pair that with Oh God.
23:08 --> 23:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh God is,
23:12 --> 23:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh God, you devil was my first choice, and I realized, no, that's actually a sequel.
23:18 --> 23:22 [SPEAKER_01]: The first one is named, oh God, it features George Burns as God.
23:22 --> 23:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
23:22 --> 23:24 [SPEAKER_01]: John Denver and the aforementioned Terry Gar.
23:24 --> 23:40 [SPEAKER_01]: So I thought this was, I thought this was, I thought this was, I thought this was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought it was, I thought
23:41 --> 23:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, maybe not the same time period, but we balance, you know, God and devil themes and everybody knows the John Denver was the Kiana Reeves of the 70s.
23:55 --> 23:57 [SPEAKER_00]: I wish John Wick was starring John Denver.
23:58 --> 24:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm looking forward to rewatching this.
24:01 --> 24:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I remember enjoying this as a kid and thinking it was funny and, you know, who doesn't love a George Burns film.
24:09 --> 24:16 [SPEAKER_00]: I could just, yeah, I could just funny that we were like, again, in the, in the, in the, in,
24:16 --> 24:30 [SPEAKER_00]: spirit of connecting I just you had used like father like son and vice versa as a a pairing I could have easily said big and a teen again starring George Burns not as god in this case.
24:33 --> 24:35 [SPEAKER_01]: All right now it is your turn again.
24:35 --> 24:44 [SPEAKER_00]: All right so I want this there is definitely a line running through this so I'm going to take your nine to five and I am going to pair it
24:45 --> 24:46 [SPEAKER_00]: with another Terry guard joint.
24:47 --> 24:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, Mr.
24:49 --> 24:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Mom.
24:49 --> 24:51 [SPEAKER_01]: I wondered whether that might happen.
24:52 --> 25:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Definitely have some similar themes in terms of gender and workplace dynamics.
25:02 --> 25:07 [SPEAKER_00]: And whereas nine to five has Dad and E. Coleman, Mr.
25:07 --> 25:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Mom has a Martin Moll, and two guys that I think could,
25:12 --> 25:19 [SPEAKER_00]: feel seemingly interchangeable, but both crucial to, you know, 80s films.
25:19 --> 25:21 [SPEAKER_01]: This is kind of eerie.
25:22 --> 25:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Just last night, I watched a documentary on Martin Mall.
25:27 --> 25:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Wow, I think it just came out.
25:30 --> 25:33 [SPEAKER_01]: It was directed by mostly directed by Bob Sagitt,
25:34 --> 25:38 [SPEAKER_01]: And then it was paused because of his tragic death.
25:39 --> 25:41 [SPEAKER_01]: And I had no idea.
25:41 --> 25:43 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it features some big names.
25:43 --> 25:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you got Norman Lear, being interviewed, you've got Steve Martin being interviewed.
25:49 --> 25:51 [SPEAKER_01]: It's a fantastic documentary.
25:52 --> 25:56 [SPEAKER_00]: And there was so much to Martin Moll.
25:57 --> 25:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Glad you named checked Martin Moll.
25:59 --> 26:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Far out.
26:00 --> 26:00 [SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
26:02 --> 26:07 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, my next pairing is to maximum overdrive.
26:09 --> 26:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Also, Mr. Maxim, maximum overdrive is going to be paired with silver bullet.
26:19 --> 26:23 [SPEAKER_01]: This is 1985, we get to return to our love of wear wolf movies.
26:23 --> 26:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes indeed.
26:25 --> 26:34 [SPEAKER_01]: This feature is Gary Bucy, who may or may not be a real wear wolf, I don't know.
26:34 --> 26:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Of course, these are both Stephen King movies from the 80s and one of them features.
26:41 --> 26:49 [SPEAKER_01]: killer cars, one of them features killer wolves, but, you know, very, both very distinctively Stephen King.
26:50 --> 26:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this is, this is a, I believe, have you ever seen this?
26:53 --> 26:54 [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen it once.
26:54 --> 26:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I've seen it once long time ago.
26:57 --> 26:59 [SPEAKER_00]: This is Corey Hayman, a wheelchair, correct?
27:00 --> 27:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
27:01 --> 27:05 [SPEAKER_00]: OK. Another Oscar snub.
27:08 --> 27:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I like the Korean sort of, you know, he felt, you know, he's got vampires under his belt.
27:14 --> 27:16 [SPEAKER_01]: He's got werewolves under his belt.
27:17 --> 27:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
27:18 --> 27:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what a more could you want from a career.
27:20 --> 27:21 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
27:21 --> 27:22 [SPEAKER_01]: It is now your turn.
27:23 --> 27:23 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
27:24 --> 27:29 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to take your millennium, and I'm going to pair it with the movie, Noine.
27:31 --> 27:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
27:33 --> 27:35 [SPEAKER_01]: This is a really bad movie, isn't it?
27:38 --> 27:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, I'll tell you it's not like millennium is not a bad move.
27:46 --> 27:51 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want I don't want to to pump up people's expectations of millennia.
27:54 --> 27:57 [SPEAKER_00]: No, I just saw some pictures of millennium and I'm like knowing seems
28:00 --> 28:21 [SPEAKER_00]: Tell me about knowing so okay, so I don't it's not having never seen millennium I try not to do too much research because I want I want it Got you know I want to absorb it and feel it for what it what it's trying to do and I understand millennium is it's sort of plain crash Sort of centric and sure sub time travel and maybe
28:22 --> 28:26 [SPEAKER_00]: Is it like time-traveled to warn or to prevent or to...
28:28 --> 28:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I think you definitely got to find out, but you are not far off.
28:33 --> 28:41 [SPEAKER_00]: And so I was knowing also sort of centers around there's like disasters that are happening, right?
28:41 --> 28:47 [SPEAKER_00]: And there's something to do with predictions and finding out that.
28:47 --> 28:47 [SPEAKER_00]: Have you ever seen this?
28:48 --> 28:49 [SPEAKER_01]: This sounds very familiar.
28:50 --> 29:04 [SPEAKER_00]: So there's a time capsule, and he, in Nicholas Cage, of course, is the star, and there seems to be something that has to do with, you know, something predictive, something maybe outside of time.
29:05 --> 29:13 [SPEAKER_01]: So, okay, so this is, it's very well could be that I've seen this Nick Cage movies kind of blur together.
29:15 --> 29:15 [SPEAKER_01]: for me.
29:16 --> 29:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
29:17 --> 29:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I have either seen all of them or three of them over and over again.
29:22 --> 29:25 [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not sure if I've seen this or not.
29:26 --> 29:31 [SPEAKER_00]: So this is not leaving Las Vegas.
29:32 --> 29:32 [SPEAKER_00]: It's a different.
29:32 --> 29:34 [SPEAKER_01]: I like that Rose burn is in this movie.
29:34 --> 29:37 [SPEAKER_01]: This is this is.
29:37 --> 29:39 [SPEAKER_00]: So this is a 35% on rotten tomatoes.
29:39 --> 29:42 [SPEAKER_00]: However, Roger Ebert gave it four stars out of four.
29:43 --> 29:47 [SPEAKER_00]: and said that knowing is a novel, best science fiction films I've seen.
29:48 --> 29:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Right needs a spendable intelligent and when it needs to be rather awesome.
29:52 --> 29:59 [SPEAKER_00]: You continue to with expert and confident storing telling, Roya strings together events that keep tension at a high pitch through the film.
29:59 --> 30:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
30:00 --> 30:03 [SPEAKER_00]: He says, he says, pluck this movie and it vibrates.
30:05 --> 30:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, all right, well, you know what, Roger Ebert was wrong a lot.
30:10 --> 30:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let's do it.
30:13 --> 30:17 [SPEAKER_01]: But, but he was right a few times, and I'm looking forward to this.
30:17 --> 30:22 [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so, which I saw in the theater with my son, who was, I think, like 12 or 13 at the time, he loved it at the time.
30:23 --> 30:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, all right, well, very good.
30:26 --> 30:30 [SPEAKER_00]: So, you were pairing millennium with knowing.
30:30 --> 30:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Not bad, not bad, not bad, okay, my turn.
30:36 --> 30:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, you chose commando, I'm going to pair this with Rambo first blood.
30:45 --> 30:49 [SPEAKER_00]: And wait, so first blood or Rambo first blood part two.
30:50 --> 30:53 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going, this is very important distinction.
30:53 --> 30:54 [SPEAKER_01]: This, this is the problem.
30:55 --> 30:57 [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to pair it with first blood, 1982.
30:57 --> 31:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Because again, this is going to cause my rant, then it's going to hear it here, you've
31:06 --> 31:07 [SPEAKER_00]: There's first blood.
31:08 --> 31:09 [SPEAKER_00]: There's a Rambo first blood part two.
31:10 --> 31:11 [SPEAKER_00]: And then we scale it out to Rambo three.
31:11 --> 31:12 [SPEAKER_00]: Where?
31:12 --> 31:16 [SPEAKER_00]: Rambo three should be, it should be Rambo two, first blood part three.
31:18 --> 31:19 [SPEAKER_00]: She said they skipped it to Rambo three.
31:19 --> 31:22 [SPEAKER_00]: Rambo three should be Rambo three search for Rambo two.
31:22 --> 31:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Which should have a rocky reference somewhere in there?
31:26 --> 31:32 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, Rambo two, first blood part three, Apollo's revenge or something like that.
31:32 --> 31:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, the problem is you got, I mean, there's a lot of Rambo films for one thing.
31:36 --> 31:40 [SPEAKER_00]: There's first blood Rambo, first blood part two, Rambo three, which should not be named that.
31:40 --> 31:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Then the next one, you know what that one's called?
31:43 --> 31:46 [SPEAKER_00]: Rambo, just Rambo, we're just Rambo.
31:46 --> 31:48 [SPEAKER_00]: But it's, well, we have Rambo.
31:48 --> 31:55 [SPEAKER_00]: You see, in at all, so we have two Rambo's, one Rambo three, no Rambo two.
31:55 --> 31:56 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't understand this.
31:57 --> 31:58 [SPEAKER_00]: And then there's Rambo last blood.
31:59 --> 32:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, I paired the very first iteration of this story,
32:07 --> 32:19 [SPEAKER_01]: to commando because if there were ever two actors on each other's corner during this time period, it was absolutely sorts of nigger and Stallone.
32:20 --> 32:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Also, there is a Stallone biopic that's coming out.
32:24 --> 32:26 [SPEAKER_00]: There's a biopic or biopic.
32:27 --> 32:31 [SPEAKER_00]: I see biopic, but I'm also say apricot.
32:32 --> 32:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh-huh.
32:32 --> 32:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
32:33 --> 32:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I've taken to say in raspberries with a pea, I've already started pronouncing the pea.
32:39 --> 32:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
32:40 --> 32:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Now that I've started, I can't stop.
32:42 --> 32:43 [SPEAKER_00]: Nobody asked for this.
32:43 --> 32:44 [SPEAKER_00]: And you're doing it now.
32:46 --> 32:47 [SPEAKER_01]: I saw the pea.
32:47 --> 32:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't stop.
32:48 --> 32:49 [SPEAKER_01]: I couldn't stop myself.
32:50 --> 32:50 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
32:50 --> 32:52 [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, we're going
32:57 --> 33:11 [SPEAKER_01]: uh... two movies that uh... probably seeking the same demographic and yet two very different movies yes to mention yes i think it's first blood uh... while action does
33:12 --> 33:15 [SPEAKER_00]: hold a little more emotional gravity.
33:16 --> 33:23 [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like first blood is sort of almost a carryover from these 1970s were films in a lot of ways.
33:26 --> 33:32 [SPEAKER_01]: So, anyway, well, and I feel like Camando is firmly, you know, both feet in the 80s.
33:32 --> 33:38 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, Camando seems more like a truer response to Rambo first blood part two.
33:38 --> 33:39 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, it is now your turn.
33:40 --> 33:41 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, okay.
33:41 --> 33:41 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
33:42 --> 33:44 [SPEAKER_00]: We're, so River runs through it.
33:45 --> 33:50 [SPEAKER_00]: Another movie that I've never seen and I'm trying not to spoil anything by reading up on it.
33:50 --> 34:05 [SPEAKER_00]: My understanding is this is a film about brothers and they're complicated relationship with each other sort of through their complicated relationship with their father and sort of follows that journey, right?
34:07 --> 34:14 [SPEAKER_00]: dealing with, I guess, sort of family dynamics and maybe varying, maybe emotional struggles.
34:15 --> 34:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
34:16 --> 34:18 [SPEAKER_00]: So I have chosen them with a melancholia.
34:20 --> 34:21 [SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen this.
34:21 --> 34:24 [SPEAKER_01]: I've heard that it's actually pretty decent.
34:24 --> 34:25 [SPEAKER_00]: Never seen it myself.
34:26 --> 34:31 [SPEAKER_00]: But it is a film that explores
34:39 --> 34:47 [SPEAKER_00]: And then so it's their dynamic as they are dealing with their own sort of depression as well as the impending end of the world.
34:48 --> 34:49 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
34:50 --> 34:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Who starts in this movie?
34:52 --> 34:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Kirsten Dutz.
34:54 --> 34:55 [SPEAKER_00]: And opposite.
34:55 --> 34:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Pirsten Dutz.
34:57 --> 35:02 [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, so is it Angelina Jolie or is that some new?
35:02 --> 35:06 [SPEAKER_00]: It is Charlotte Gainesboro.
35:07 --> 35:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
35:09 --> 35:10 [SPEAKER_00]: There's a little bit of key for in here too.
35:11 --> 35:13 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, well, you say no more.
35:15 --> 35:19 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's nothing that can depress me more than older key for so.
35:20 --> 35:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so this is I think it's it's my understanding it's it's it's a weighty movie.
35:26 --> 35:31 [SPEAKER_01]: I think I honestly have not seen it and yet it does feel like it's sort of a
35:36 --> 35:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like maybe it's a, yeah, I think I feel like there's a vibe match, but it's also like through a very different lens, right, like so mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm mm
35:58 --> 36:06 [SPEAKER_01]: the the shoe, the Michael Jordan's Air Air Jordan's, which we both see in both enjoyed.
36:08 --> 36:23 [SPEAKER_01]: It is in some ways not really a docu-drama, but kind of, you know, tries to tell us a story about a product that made it into pop culture and kind of took over pop culture for a long time.
36:24 --> 36:28 [SPEAKER_01]: And so I am pairing that film with the movie Tetris.
36:29 --> 36:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, interesting.
36:30 --> 36:30 [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't seen that.
36:30 --> 36:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Tetris is also a newer film.
36:33 --> 36:34 [SPEAKER_01]: It's 2023.
36:35 --> 36:43 [SPEAKER_01]: It tells the story of how one of the most popular video games of all time made it into pop culture.
36:44 --> 36:50 [SPEAKER_01]: And it's directed by John Beard and it stars Terran Ederton.
36:51 --> 36:53 [SPEAKER_01]: which, if you don't know who that is?
36:53 --> 36:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I know that.
36:54 --> 36:55 [SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't really matter.
36:57 --> 37:03 [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway, this is, I thought this was surprisingly an interesting movie.
37:04 --> 37:09 [SPEAKER_01]: It's in the genre designation, sometimes it's called a thriller.
37:10 --> 37:13 [SPEAKER_01]: I can see why people might say that.
37:13 --> 37:16 [SPEAKER_01]: It's not why you would go to this movie, you know?
37:16 --> 37:17 [SPEAKER_01]: For a while.
37:17 --> 37:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen Tetris?
37:18 --> 37:19 [SPEAKER_01]: I have not.
37:20 --> 37:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
37:21 --> 37:27 [SPEAKER_01]: So that is my, that is our next pairing, the movie air, and the movie Tetris.
37:28 --> 37:28 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
37:30 --> 37:35 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to take your zodiac and I'm going to pair with Dirty Harry.
37:36 --> 37:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Perfect.
37:38 --> 37:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right.
37:39 --> 37:41 [SPEAKER_01]: So explain that this seems obvious to me once you
37:42 --> 38:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so Dirty Harry set in San Francisco during the time of the zodiac killers sort of rampager for whatever you want to call it and it's actually drawing from the zodiac in terms of the the Scorpio is the yes this is this you know killer that is using you know cipher's similar to the zodiac killer so it's I mean it's one you know both movies are
38:12 --> 38:14 [SPEAKER_00]: one more obvious in the other, inspired by the zodiac heal.
38:15 --> 38:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Dirty Harry's definitely inspired by the zodiac in terms of the serial killer and the San Francisco setting.
38:25 --> 38:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Clint Eastwood and a big gun.
38:28 --> 38:28 [SPEAKER_00]: So.
38:30 --> 38:33 [SPEAKER_00]: All right, it seems right right for our broadcast, too.
38:33 --> 38:38 [SPEAKER_00]: It's kind of surprisingly haven't ventured into the Dirty Harry universe.
38:39 --> 38:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, there are a number of films that were sort of inspired by this zodiac killer and some of them are mentioned in the film zodiac.
38:48 --> 38:50 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't remember whether dirty hair is.
38:52 --> 38:56 [SPEAKER_01]: My next one, you chose the film Bagonia.
38:59 --> 39:04 [SPEAKER_01]: I chose the day the earth stood still, which version.
39:05 --> 39:14 [SPEAKER_01]: This is 2008, sorry, Keanu, and have you, I'm assuming you've seen this?
39:15 --> 39:27 [SPEAKER_01]: No, okay, I actually quite enjoy this film, it's speaking to 21% Rod Tomatoes, so it's kind of a guilty pleasure.
39:28 --> 39:50 [SPEAKER_01]: I could watch and rewatch this film, and I don't want to spoil anything, but in both films, there is some question about someone who looks human, maybe that person could be a creature from outer space, so anyway, I thought this was a nice pairing.
39:50 --> 39:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Man, this cast is incredible.
39:52 --> 39:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, for 2008, David Earthdreadsville?
39:56 --> 39:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
39:56 --> 40:04 [SPEAKER_00]: Keanu, kind of, Janet Connelly, Jiggins Smith, John Klee's John Ham, Kathy Bates, Kyle Chandler, you even have James Hong?
40:05 --> 40:06 [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm, yeah.
40:06 --> 40:08 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
40:08 --> 40:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Now it is your turn.
40:10 --> 40:12 [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so this is our final, my final pairing for you.
40:13 --> 40:15 [SPEAKER_00]: You chose to move it inside a man.
40:16 --> 40:39 [SPEAKER_00]: And so thematically I was there was a lot that I was trying to to go with here thematically right and there's seemed like there was a lot of options, but I went Different interpretation right I'm an inside man, you know without doing any spoilers for those who are going to want to watch with us, you know, it's there's it's there's a man inside it during a bank robbery right I mean there's this inside man is very very
40:40 --> 40:47 [SPEAKER_00]: key to sort of the the machinations of what's going on outside the choose interspaces I have it's interspaces.
40:47 --> 41:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I chose it because it's also about an inside man oh goodness How do you spell interspaces?
41:00 --> 41:01 [SPEAKER_00]: Is there a hyphen?
41:02 --> 41:05 [SPEAKER_00]: No, I believe it's one a word in for the movie
41:07 --> 41:22 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, and tell me about interspace, so the interspace is a 1987 film, this is a it's a Martin short and Dennis Quaid joint.
41:23 --> 41:31 [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's only time they paired up and another San Francisco film right, so I'm just giving you two two SF films back to back.
41:32 --> 41:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Very good.
41:32 --> 41:33 [SPEAKER_00]: So,
41:36 --> 41:37 [SPEAKER_00]: Dennis Quaid plays.
41:38 --> 42:02 [SPEAKER_00]: I think he's like he's Air Force or something along those lines and he's part of us of a miniaturization experiment, so he gets miniaturized and as luck would have it, he ends up getting injected into Martin Short and now he can communicate to and sort of through Martin Short as he's going through his
42:03 --> 42:08 [SPEAKER_00]: his body, and it's just an amazing, what an amazing film.
42:09 --> 42:12 [SPEAKER_00]: So I think I actually saw this in the theater.
42:13 --> 42:15 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm for sure, so I like multiple times in the theater.
42:15 --> 42:15 [SPEAKER_00]: I love this.
42:15 --> 42:18 [SPEAKER_00]: And I have not seen it since.
42:19 --> 42:27 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think I've seen it somewhat, I haven't seen it recently, but recently enough to wear a Heather Rolder Eyes when she's found out I was gonna watch it again.
42:28 --> 42:32 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so for my last, you chose Psycho 2.
42:34 --> 42:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Psycho 2, I am pairing with the Exorcist Part 3.
42:41 --> 42:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
42:42 --> 42:59 [SPEAKER_01]: So both of these films, Psycho 2 and Exorcist 3, they're building from horror classics, but they're not written or directed by the original, the original people.
43:04 --> 43:05 [SPEAKER_01]: connection.
43:06 --> 43:09 [SPEAKER_01]: And for Exorcist 3, we've lost the freaking connection.
43:11 --> 43:25 [SPEAKER_01]: But both of these films are kind of, you know, they sort of stand in that kind of cash grippy kind of legacy, but upon review, the decades have looked favorably upon these.
43:26 --> 43:27 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yeah, exactly.
43:27 --> 43:27 [SPEAKER_00]: These are
43:34 --> 43:41 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, not on par with the original film, but we're the, we're the, we're the follow up.
43:41 --> 43:49 [SPEAKER_01]: I understand that X is just two is not X is just two is widely pand is one of the worst films of all time.
43:50 --> 43:51 [SPEAKER_01]: I chose X is just three.
43:51 --> 43:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen X is just three?
43:54 --> 43:54 [SPEAKER_00]: No.
43:55 --> 43:55 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
43:55 --> 43:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, and we were covering
43:58 --> 44:24 [SPEAKER_01]: uh... late night with the devil i kind of got on a uh... an exorcist film kick and i i watched a few of these and i i you know this is not it's not a perfect film by me stretch uh... but i enjoyed it right on i'm looking forward to it i uh... is one that i sort of had on the list of wants to watch if i ever get around it and now i've a reason
44:28 --> 44:31 [SPEAKER_01]: We've got some listener selections.
44:32 --> 44:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Have you looked at the list yet?
44:34 --> 44:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
44:35 --> 44:43 [SPEAKER_01]: So first thing we're going to do is we're going to select our listener duo, and these have to be selected as a set, right?
44:43 --> 44:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
44:45 --> 44:47 [SPEAKER_00]: So, we, we deliberate.
44:47 --> 44:48 [SPEAKER_00]: This is us picking the duo.
44:48 --> 44:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's right.
44:49 --> 44:55 [SPEAKER_01]: And so we're going to just start out just by using our own sense and preferences.
44:56 --> 45:04 [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, maybe listen to the listeners rationale for the choice of the double feature.
45:05 --> 45:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Ultimately, we get to just choose the set and then after that, then we narrow our own list.
45:13 --> 45:16 [SPEAKER_01]: But, and those also have to be selected as a set.
45:17 --> 45:21 [SPEAKER_00]: So, that brings us to 10.
45:22 --> 45:23 [SPEAKER_00]: Where is the other two come from?
45:24 --> 45:25 [SPEAKER_01]: I think 10's a good number.
45:26 --> 45:27 [SPEAKER_00]: Will you set 12?
45:27 --> 45:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I know.
45:35 --> 46:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, well, you just you I could get talked into a dozen so big on rule if you want to hold me to a dozen That's fine, and you so rarely know what you're talking about All right, so this first listener suggestion is the big labowski and Robert Altman's the long goodbye I Like both these movies and One of these is in my top 10 and
46:06 --> 46:25 [SPEAKER_01]: This is from David M. or Davey Mac, he says Jeff Bridges the dude and Elliott Ghoul's Philip Marlow both sort of stumble their way through films, both their detective stories of a sort and both are big on California vibes.
46:26 --> 46:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would even say both are great LA movies.
46:31 --> 46:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen the longer by I've not seen the longer by okay.
46:34 --> 46:35 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
46:35 --> 46:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Interesting.
46:36 --> 46:52 [SPEAKER_00]: You're not a big Altman fan Am I not I don't I never thought you were I Think I maybe I don't have a Great deal of experience with Altman.
46:52 --> 46:59 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so you're open neutral Well, I mean, I think I was so burned by Popeye as a child
47:01 --> 47:09 [SPEAKER_00]: that I can't imagine that he, you know, that Altman could read it and I've seen like I've seen the player.
47:09 --> 47:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
47:12 --> 47:13 [SPEAKER_00]: And that's fine.
47:15 --> 47:17 [SPEAKER_00]: I was highly recommended the player.
47:18 --> 47:21 [SPEAKER_00]: as an opportunity to sort of redeem, and it wasn't enough.
47:21 --> 47:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
47:22 --> 47:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Altman is an acquired taste.
47:25 --> 47:33 [SPEAKER_01]: His movies, sometimes they can be long and winding, and in the same way the Big Lebowski is.
47:33 --> 47:37 [SPEAKER_01]: It's like, does one seem really follow from the next?
47:39 --> 47:40 [SPEAKER_01]: And yet, I will say this.
47:42 --> 47:44 [SPEAKER_01]: I think the longer by might be his best film.
47:45 --> 47:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I could definitely get behind Big Lebowski and longer by if or no other reason then I get to watch the Big Lebowski again You'll watch it anyway There's another suggestion.
47:57 --> 48:02 [SPEAKER_00]: There's Harold and Kumaar go to White Castle and the Odyssey Where's this?
48:02 --> 48:04 [SPEAKER_01]: I did not see this on the list.
48:04 --> 48:09 [SPEAKER_00]: So put the top As a list change on official submission on official submission
48:10 --> 48:13 [SPEAKER_00]: Posted by Sub-Zero on the Discord, but it was not sent in there.
48:13 --> 48:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, okay.
48:14 --> 48:18 [SPEAKER_01]: So, this is not on the list, but now it is on the list.
48:18 --> 48:26 [SPEAKER_01]: So, explain to me again, Harold and Kumar go to White Castle and the Odyssey and the Odyssey.
48:27 --> 48:31 [SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen Harold and Kumar go to White Castle.
48:31 --> 48:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Have you?
48:33 --> 48:33 [SPEAKER_00]: I have.
48:34 --> 48:35 [SPEAKER_00]: Did you enjoy it?
48:40 --> 48:41 [SPEAKER_00]: for this film.
48:41 --> 48:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
48:42 --> 48:42 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
48:42 --> 48:43 [SPEAKER_00]: It's enjoyable.
48:43 --> 48:44 [SPEAKER_00]: And have you seen it?
48:44 --> 48:45 [SPEAKER_00]: It's a stone or a comet.
48:45 --> 48:46 [SPEAKER_00]: I have not seen it.
48:46 --> 48:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I have.
48:46 --> 48:47 [SPEAKER_01]: So you.
48:47 --> 48:47 [SPEAKER_01]: So we.
48:49 --> 48:52 [SPEAKER_01]: So this is a one film that I've seen in one film that you've seen.
48:54 --> 48:56 [SPEAKER_00]: The Odyssey sure does feel like a movie I'll never see.
48:58 --> 49:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I, I, I guess I'm gonna offer mixed reviews on this.
49:04 --> 49:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I think you'll actually enjoy the Odyssey, but not for the reasons everyone else did.
49:11 --> 49:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
49:13 --> 49:13 [SPEAKER_00]: That's interesting.
49:15 --> 49:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, anyway.
49:17 --> 49:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I can, you know what, that, that kind of appeals to me.
49:21 --> 49:22 [SPEAKER_00]: It feels like one for you one for me.
49:23 --> 49:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
49:24 --> 49:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
49:24 --> 49:27 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, next option, this is from Hof.
49:28 --> 49:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Fight Club and office space.
49:31 --> 49:32 [SPEAKER_01]: These are two bangers.
49:33 --> 49:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm almost, I almost want to check this one off right away.
49:39 --> 50:04 [SPEAKER_01]: this this one seems like yeah you can't go wrong with either of them all right so thematically links white collar disillusionment rebellion against authority existential awakening crisis of masculinity reshaping of identity and i will also add both nineteen ninety nine movies yeah this is is a very compelling case with two films he did skip he did skip a one i mean did
50:10 --> 50:14 [SPEAKER_01]: I guess I did skip this one because Zodiac was already on another list.
50:14 --> 50:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Do you want to talk about this one right?
50:17 --> 50:25 [SPEAKER_00]: So it's David Finchner's Zodiac is also by David Mack and Bong Junho's memories of murder both the films
50:25 --> 50:32 [SPEAKER_00]: related to Saul, David Wright's, both films related to Unsolved, serial murders and both take place over the course of many years.
50:32 --> 50:36 [SPEAKER_00]: It's interesting to see takes on a similar story from two different countries and all languages.
50:36 --> 50:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Moreover, I think that Fincher and Bung Junho kind of, a lot of their films are in conversation with the other.
50:44 --> 50:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I love Zodiac, it's in my top 10, and I've never seen memories of murder.
50:48 --> 50:51 [SPEAKER_01]: So that does appeal to me on that level.
50:54 --> 50:56 [SPEAKER_01]: So far we've got some pretty great options here.
50:57 --> 50:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, so okay.
50:58 --> 51:01 [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, keep keep going.
51:01 --> 51:01 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, right now.
51:02 --> 51:06 [SPEAKER_00]: I think fight club in office space is probably in it's the leader in the club.
51:06 --> 51:06 [SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
51:06 --> 51:07 [SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
51:07 --> 51:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Let me talk about a couple other ones from the prestige and night crawler.
51:14 --> 51:20 [SPEAKER_01]: That would be the links with deception and illusion pitfalls of obsession and ambition,
51:26 --> 51:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, how do you say that weren't Ruth less-ness?
51:30 --> 51:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
51:31 --> 51:32 [SPEAKER_00]: Have you seen both of these?
51:33 --> 51:35 [SPEAKER_00]: I've seen prestige, but not Nikron.
51:35 --> 51:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, interesting.
51:37 --> 51:37 [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen them both.
51:38 --> 51:40 [SPEAKER_00]: I have our time with musicians and movies.
51:40 --> 51:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Because you just feel like you're just using photography.
51:45 --> 51:48 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, if you get to a point where you say, well, how do I get out of this?
51:48 --> 51:53 [SPEAKER_00]: I could create a scenario where magic is this solution or magic is sort of
51:56 --> 51:59 [SPEAKER_00]: Right because it's not they're not not even actual sliding.
51:59 --> 52:00 [SPEAKER_00]: It's moving.
52:00 --> 52:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think that the prestige is not about the illusion really.
52:04 --> 52:12 [SPEAKER_00]: It's about the character and sure and sort of the the the extent to which he's willing to go.
52:12 --> 52:16 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's talk about the next one.
52:16 --> 52:18 [SPEAKER_01]: This is three clock high and in bruise.
52:21 --> 52:23 [SPEAKER_01]: I've been wanting to watch three clock high.
52:25 --> 52:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen in Bruce?
52:28 --> 52:28 [SPEAKER_00]: I've seen in Bruce.
52:28 --> 52:29 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
52:29 --> 52:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Did you like it?
52:31 --> 52:31 [SPEAKER_00]: I like the one.
52:31 --> 52:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
52:32 --> 52:32 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
52:32 --> 52:45 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think we ever talked about the medical like mental weight of anticipation, confinement, inevitable confrontation, judgment, and punishment, uncompromising antagonists.
52:46 --> 52:47 [SPEAKER_00]: That's you know what?
52:49 --> 52:50 [SPEAKER_01]: That's a compelling case too.
52:52 --> 52:52 [SPEAKER_01]: You want to take the next one?
52:54 --> 53:05 [SPEAKER_00]: Sure, it's the Goonies and Mad Max Fury Road, thematic links and marginalized groups against oppressive forces, quest for survival and redemption, mutual dependence, unlikely coalition.
53:05 --> 53:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Can I just say this?
53:07 --> 53:10 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I just not into these Mad Max movies.
53:12 --> 53:13 [SPEAKER_00]: Have you seen the Fury Road?
53:14 --> 53:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and everyone loved it, and I thought maybe this is just not appealing to me.
53:20 --> 53:22 [SPEAKER_00]: What's your relationship with Mad Max?
53:23 --> 53:28 [SPEAKER_01]: My entire childhood, I made a mistake between the first and the second film.
53:30 --> 53:36 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that I saw Mad Max and thought it was the road warrior or vice versa.
53:36 --> 53:39 [SPEAKER_01]: And I could never distinguish the two in my mind.
53:40 --> 53:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Kind of a jaws, jaws two thing for me.
53:43 --> 53:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, that's right.
53:45 --> 53:48 [SPEAKER_00]: But then so I think it's interesting because I think our age group,
53:49 --> 53:55 [SPEAKER_00]: was sort of, we kind of went backwards, right, because I think Mad Max beyond Thunderdome was such a big part of the A.
53:55 --> 53:55 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
53:56 --> 54:07 [SPEAKER_00]: That I feel like that's that was my introduction to the idea of Mad Max more so than having like scene, road warrior and Mad Max prior to I and I and I and I never even saw beyond Thunderdome.
54:08 --> 54:10 [SPEAKER_00]: but beyond thundered on what I have seen, it's pretty weird.
54:10 --> 54:11 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, these are all pretty weird.
54:11 --> 54:14 [SPEAKER_01]: They're pretty weird, and I'll be honest about this.
54:14 --> 54:20 [SPEAKER_01]: There is a sense in which my distaste of Tina Turner colors all of this.
54:21 --> 54:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
54:25 --> 54:27 [SPEAKER_00]: You're distaste of Tina Turner.
54:27 --> 54:28 [SPEAKER_00]: You're an iconologist?
54:28 --> 54:29 [SPEAKER_00]: As a kid.
54:29 --> 54:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Don't go on a record.
54:31 --> 54:33 [SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't like to make this clear.
54:34 --> 54:38 [SPEAKER_00]: I want to tell you right now, I do not approve of icon.
54:39 --> 54:43 [SPEAKER_00]: This is where the podcast, we agreed to disagree on this one.
54:43 --> 54:48 [SPEAKER_01]: For some reason, as a kid, Tina Turner was the music.
54:49 --> 54:56 [SPEAKER_01]: I never knew the person behind the music, but the music was just very distasteful to me.
54:57 --> 54:57 [SPEAKER_00]: Really?
54:57 --> 55:01 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thematically or just musically.
55:01 --> 55:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Just musically, just didn't even... Never appealed to me.
55:10 --> 55:11 [SPEAKER_01]: because she was in one.
55:11 --> 55:14 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so a no-go on Goonies and Max Mad Max Fury road.
55:15 --> 55:31 [SPEAKER_01]: If I, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if I have any, if
55:32 --> 55:33 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
55:33 --> 55:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, this is from Ian Eon.
55:36 --> 55:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Clearly is about a private detective, played by Dollar Settle in.
55:40 --> 55:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Jane Fondes in this movie.
55:41 --> 55:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, and here it vices a lesser known film directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, starring Walking Phoenix.
55:49 --> 55:50 [SPEAKER_01]: I could see both again.
55:51 --> 55:53 [SPEAKER_00]: These are kind of heavy movies.
55:55 --> 56:20 [SPEAKER_00]: uh... and they are kind of movies that require they require work from the audience i'll say i'm a past okay i figured you both great movies i'm sorry i think i probably wouldn't i would not mind uh... seen either i i'd actually want to see both but i just feel like the sake of the podcast
56:23 --> 56:25 [SPEAKER_01]: This from Maryland, oh brother, we're out there and the Odyssey.
56:25 --> 56:26 [SPEAKER_01]: This is great.
56:26 --> 56:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, this is yeah, these are both great movies I mean both are adaptations from yeah, I mean they basically said it Nolan ripped off
56:37 --> 56:38 [SPEAKER_01]: What a hack.
56:40 --> 56:44 [SPEAKER_01]: I could see a brother again and see it happily.
56:44 --> 56:53 [SPEAKER_01]: I do think that oddly the Odyssey and Harold and Kumar pairing seems more of a properly Howard.
56:54 --> 57:00 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so let's add this from David of Laura on fame.
57:01 --> 57:03 [SPEAKER_01]: This is Tim Popo.
57:04 --> 57:05 [SPEAKER_01]: and chugret.
57:06 --> 57:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Now chugret, I've seen a lot, I love Tampopo is not something that I've ever even heard of.
57:14 --> 57:15 [SPEAKER_00]: I've heard of it.
57:16 --> 57:17 [SPEAKER_00]: I think I ordered it once.
57:19 --> 57:21 [SPEAKER_01]: You're not going to go into your rant about Chinese food again.
57:22 --> 57:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Because I do believe this is Japanese.
57:27 --> 57:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, hmm, let's see here.
57:28 --> 57:40 [SPEAKER_01]: A teenage girl seeks justice on the frontier while a noodle shop owner pursues culinary excellence as a pathway to fulfillment, but turned to termination of action by recruiting unlikely allies.
57:43 --> 57:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, so this is interesting.
57:44 --> 57:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I, I definitely could, I could get behind this.
57:48 --> 57:51 [SPEAKER_01]: I have a feeling that you're gonna, you're gonna veto this.
57:52 --> 58:19 [SPEAKER_00]: why because because of racism because of racism yeah because of racism uh the very fact that you said I could get behind this I don't think that we're doing I don't think we're around I don't think for the sake the sake of this podcast which is already an hour long uh I I don't think that if we're gonna sit there and deliberate whether or not we should watch tempo I don't think we should be watching tempo
58:20 --> 58:21 [SPEAKER_00]: No offense to tempo and offense today.
58:21 --> 58:23 [SPEAKER_00]: I'd like to say tempo.
58:24 --> 58:28 [SPEAKER_01]: And apologies if I'm not pronouncing that correctly.
58:28 --> 58:31 [SPEAKER_01]: McCabe and Mr. and Mrs. Miller.
58:31 --> 58:32 [SPEAKER_01]: That's one film.
58:33 --> 58:34 [SPEAKER_01]: 1971 and thief.
58:35 --> 58:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man.
58:36 --> 58:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Have you seen thief?
58:37 --> 58:38 [SPEAKER_01]: We should see thief.
58:38 --> 58:40 [SPEAKER_01]: You and I should cover thief.
58:42 --> 58:43 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I've never seen things.
58:43 --> 58:50 [SPEAKER_00]: You, I remember, I think you were watching thief and like, tech to me, I'm not like, it is, it's just, it's a thing of beauty, beef.
58:52 --> 58:55 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we should definitely, is that a Jimmy Con joint?
58:55 --> 58:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, absolutely.
58:57 --> 59:07 [SPEAKER_01]: Both films explore the conflict between the individual enterprise and that we're gonna use power, asking whether skill ambition and hard work can secure independence when larger interests control the terms.
59:11 --> 59:14 [SPEAKER_01]: I could, again, I'm going to say something.
59:14 --> 59:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I could, I could be in this.
59:17 --> 59:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the, yeah, I feel like this is something that you could convince yourself a lot faster than you could convince me again.
59:24 --> 59:25 [SPEAKER_00]: These are actually down to one.
59:25 --> 59:27 [SPEAKER_01]: These are definitely in my wheelhouse.
59:27 --> 59:29 [SPEAKER_01]: This is sort of 70s centric.
59:29 --> 59:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this feels like if you were picking your own dough.
59:31 --> 59:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's true.
59:32 --> 59:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's skip it.
59:34 --> 59:37 [SPEAKER_01]: This is from Alicia Apocalypse Now and Interstellar.
59:38 --> 59:39 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to say no to that.
59:40 --> 59:42 [SPEAKER_00]: I wish one of you saying no, just deserve it.
59:42 --> 59:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Interstellar.
59:43 --> 59:45 [SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I've seen it enough.
59:45 --> 59:51 [SPEAKER_01]: I've seen it a lot and every single time I think, this is the last time I'm going to do in this.
59:51 --> 59:52 [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like that the first time.
59:52 --> 59:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
59:53 --> 59:56 [SPEAKER_01]: The next one is 28 years later and the drama.
59:56 --> 59:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Now this appeals to me.
59:59 --> 01:00:00 [SPEAKER_00]: It feels to me too.
01:00:02 --> 01:00:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, 28 years later, however, I mean, I feel like I need to, you need to watch the other ones.
01:00:09 --> 01:00:10 [SPEAKER_00]: I need to catch up to everything.
01:00:10 --> 01:00:11 [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't seen any of them.
01:00:11 --> 01:00:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I think you would enjoy all of them.
01:00:13 --> 01:00:17 [SPEAKER_00]: I may have only seen 28 days, the one with the Sandra Bullock.
01:00:17 --> 01:00:18 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if that's in the same canon.
01:00:18 --> 01:00:20 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think I can.
01:00:21 --> 01:00:25 [SPEAKER_01]: This is, I'm almost willing to green light this right now.
01:00:27 --> 01:00:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, you settle down.
01:00:28 --> 01:00:29 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, I love the drama.
01:00:30 --> 01:00:31 [SPEAKER_01]: We both saw the drama.
01:00:32 --> 01:00:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I almost didn't survive the drama.
01:00:33 --> 01:00:35 [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of anxiety for me.
01:00:36 --> 01:00:37 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh man, that was so good.
01:00:38 --> 01:00:39 [SPEAKER_00]: That was one of my favorite movies of the year.
01:00:39 --> 01:00:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:00:40 --> 01:00:42 [SPEAKER_01]: It does make me want to greenlight that.
01:00:43 --> 01:00:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, let's talk about the last couple here.
01:00:45 --> 01:00:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Nancy suggests, by the way, Nancy, thank you for all of your help in compiling this list.
01:00:52 --> 01:00:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Taking in finding Nemo, this is just a genius pairing.
01:00:58 --> 01:01:00 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think we've ever done an animated film.
01:01:02 --> 01:01:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
01:01:04 --> 01:01:05 [SPEAKER_00]: Taking would be fun for us to watch.
01:01:07 --> 01:01:08 [SPEAKER_00]: Never seen taken.
01:01:08 --> 01:01:08 [SPEAKER_00]: What?
01:01:09 --> 01:01:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Feels like something I should have seen.
01:01:12 --> 01:01:13 [SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like everyone's seen taken.
01:01:14 --> 01:01:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Taken always felt like something where I like, I probably get it.
01:01:19 --> 01:01:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Finally, Nemo, I might have watched more than any other movie, just because my children would have watched.
01:01:26 --> 01:01:44 [SPEAKER_01]: This is sort of like, find the turtle scene and find Nemo, throw it on the DVD player, and you could take a shower because my kids would be entertained and I would be, you know, happily pass the scary parts and then I would just like watch it because it's such a good movie, you know.
01:01:45 --> 01:02:09 [SPEAKER_01]: it beyond and be like man this is just the banger of a movie so I've seen this movie a lot I think it's a great movie it is a great movie for sure it doesn't seem like you're too excited about this so I would say that the taking finding the mo taken taken finding the mo the 28 years later in the
01:02:16 --> 01:02:24 [SPEAKER_00]: I would have probably pushed more for Goonies and Mad Max for your road, but I mean, I don't want you to have any sort of Tina Turner triggering.
01:02:24 --> 01:02:26 [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe I need to revisit Tina Turner.
01:02:27 --> 01:02:33 [SPEAKER_01]: She did, she did, there are many stages of life where I've just like Tina Turner.
01:02:35 --> 01:02:40 [SPEAKER_01]: As a kid, it didn't make any sense who needs a heart when a heart can be broken.
01:02:40 --> 01:02:42 [SPEAKER_01]: It made no sense to me.
01:02:42 --> 01:02:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Heart is essential, biologically.
01:02:47 --> 01:02:50 [SPEAKER_01]: That really turned me off as an eight year old.
01:02:51 --> 01:03:04 [SPEAKER_01]: And then as a teenager, the rock videos, there were horses and sexuality in the same scene,
01:03:05 --> 01:03:06 [SPEAKER_00]: Wait, which one was your fool?
01:03:06 --> 01:03:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Where are you watching?
01:03:08 --> 01:03:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, what, which song was it?
01:03:10 --> 01:03:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Where she was just a lot of like, but muscular sexy horse video.
01:03:14 --> 01:03:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm telling you, you do a surf sexy horse video.
01:03:18 --> 01:03:20 [SPEAKER_00]: I probably won't.
01:03:21 --> 01:03:22 [SPEAKER_00]: No thank you.
01:03:43 --> 01:03:46 [SPEAKER_01]: They're very disconcerting and very disconcerting.
01:03:46 --> 01:03:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, if you're active with sexy horse video, yeah, you should.
01:03:52 --> 01:03:57 [SPEAKER_00]: Chances are you're gonna be a little, you know, you'll be disconcerting for sure.
01:03:57 --> 01:04:01 [SPEAKER_00]: And I just be honest disconcerting their sexy horse video.
01:04:01 --> 01:04:04 [SPEAKER_01]: The raspy voice never did it for me.
01:04:04 --> 01:04:06 [SPEAKER_01]: And I guess maybe like I was not.
01:04:06 --> 01:04:11 [SPEAKER_00]: The case what I don't understand, you're a Bob Dylan fan and you're talking about non-sensical lyrics and raspy voices
01:04:15 --> 01:04:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Like I said, maybe I should revisit Tina Turner give her another shot.
01:04:19 --> 01:04:26 [SPEAKER_00]: I was always told by like family like she had great legs and I was too young to know what what I feel like I needed someone to show me worse legs.
01:04:26 --> 01:04:28 [SPEAKER_00]: So I had sort of a baseline.
01:04:28 --> 01:04:29 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
01:04:30 --> 01:04:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I I'm gonna say I'm kind of leaning toward 28 years later in the drama, but if you wanted to talk me into fight club and office space, I could get behind that.
01:04:43 --> 01:04:44 [SPEAKER_00]: Here's what I'm gonna recommend we do.
01:04:46 --> 01:05:10 [SPEAKER_00]: Now that we've had this discussion, I recommend we pick our double features because we could end up thematically overlap and that might put us in a situation where we go okay well because we chose x, y and z that might take one of these off in terms of like oh this feels like we might be you know treading on familiar ground.
01:05:10 --> 01:05:11 [SPEAKER_00]: So that's my recommendation
01:05:13 --> 01:05:16 [SPEAKER_00]: I know you wanted to do this first, and I think it's good.
01:05:16 --> 01:05:21 [SPEAKER_00]: We've got three that we're putting, and I think that since we can't quite decide, let's go to our list.
01:05:21 --> 01:05:22 [SPEAKER_00]: And let's make our selection.
01:05:22 --> 01:05:25 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, I'm gonna let you choose first.
01:05:25 --> 01:05:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Now we are gonna select 10 from our list.
01:05:29 --> 01:05:31 [SPEAKER_01]: That gives us 12 total.
01:05:32 --> 01:05:35 [SPEAKER_01]: We have to select in pairs so that the two films come as a unit.
01:05:36 --> 01:05:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I would also say you can choose
01:05:39 --> 01:05:46 [SPEAKER_01]: to either select a film or select two films or you can choose to veto two films.
01:05:46 --> 01:05:48 [SPEAKER_00]: So that your turn right off the list.
01:05:49 --> 01:05:49 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
01:05:49 --> 01:05:55 [SPEAKER_01]: So your turn can either be to ensure that we do watch two films or ensure that we do not.
01:05:56 --> 01:05:59 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you have, you know, again, you're not the given in your revelation.
01:05:59 --> 01:06:04 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you feel that you're more inclined to choose or to veto?
01:06:05 --> 01:06:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Kind of trying to gauge what kind of mood you're in.
01:06:08 --> 01:06:10 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to keep my card's close.
01:06:11 --> 01:06:12 [SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
01:06:13 --> 01:06:13 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:06:14 --> 01:06:14 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:06:14 --> 01:06:15 [SPEAKER_00]: So I go first.
01:06:15 --> 01:06:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Video or.
01:06:17 --> 01:06:19 [SPEAKER_00]: Video or choose.
01:06:20 --> 01:06:23 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to veto a river runs through it and melancholia.
01:06:23 --> 01:06:25 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
01:06:25 --> 01:06:26 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
01:06:30 --> 01:06:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Does that bother you?
01:06:31 --> 01:06:31 [SPEAKER_01]: No, that's fine.
01:06:33 --> 01:06:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Was that one you would have chose?
01:06:36 --> 01:06:39 [SPEAKER_01]: I might have, but I wouldn't have been my first choice.
01:06:39 --> 01:06:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Alright, so now you get to pick.
01:06:41 --> 01:06:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to veto maximum overdrive and silver bullet.
01:06:52 --> 01:06:54 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
01:06:55 --> 01:06:57 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you have a reason why I'm just curious?
01:06:57 --> 01:07:10 [SPEAKER_01]: I was asked by Alicia to do a wearable podcast, which I recorded this morning and in preparation for that podcast, I think I've watched 10 wearable movies in the last week.
01:07:11 --> 01:07:38 [SPEAKER_01]: to prep a lot of these movies you know I love where we'll movies so silver bullet which you know it's a fine where we'll movie but it is kind of a shlaki where we'll movie sure sure and I feel like as opposed as opposed to like tingle too I could watch another where we'll movie in the next month or so that'd be fine but that one in particular after sitting down and rewatching part of it I kind of feel like
01:07:41 --> 01:07:43 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't feel like I want to spend some time here.
01:07:44 --> 01:07:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Gotcha.
01:07:45 --> 01:07:45 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:07:45 --> 01:07:46 [SPEAKER_00]: That's good.
01:07:46 --> 01:07:48 [SPEAKER_00]: I just didn't really want to watch River runs through it.
01:07:50 --> 01:07:57 [SPEAKER_01]: At some point we will do a river runs through it and maximum overdrive combo and we'll try to find out why they pair.
01:07:57 --> 01:07:59 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
01:07:59 --> 01:07:59 [SPEAKER_01]: You're doing.
01:08:00 --> 01:08:01 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:08:01 --> 01:08:03 [SPEAKER_00]: I am going to select nine to five in Mr.
01:08:03 --> 01:08:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Mom.
01:08:04 --> 01:08:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Mmm.
01:08:05 --> 01:08:05 [SPEAKER_00]: Very good.
01:08:05 --> 01:08:07 [SPEAKER_00]: I got it.
01:08:08 --> 01:08:11 [SPEAKER_00]: I gotta guarantee some some dabney and some martin mole.
01:08:11 --> 01:08:23 [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like to me, this is going to be the main topic of conversation, less of the movies, but just how, you know, what a double feature to have dabney and Mr. Mole.
01:08:24 --> 01:08:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm going to select Devil's Advocate and Oh God.
01:08:29 --> 01:08:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Wow, I did not expect that one.
01:08:33 --> 01:08:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Is this mostly because of an Oh God?
01:08:36 --> 01:08:39 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of curious to see if I still like this movie.
01:08:40 --> 01:08:44 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, really, I think the last time I saw this, I was probably nine years old.
01:08:45 --> 01:08:46 [SPEAKER_00]: Everybody was nine years old.
01:08:46 --> 01:08:50 [SPEAKER_01]: And you know, we've been circling devil's advocate for and I've never seen devil's advocate.
01:08:50 --> 01:08:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, wow.
01:08:52 --> 01:08:53 [SPEAKER_00]: All right, this is exciting.
01:08:54 --> 01:08:57 [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so now I get to veto or select.
01:08:59 --> 01:09:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is a tough one.
01:09:05 --> 01:09:08 [SPEAKER_00]: I am going to... Oof.
01:09:11 --> 01:09:13 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to veto millennium and knowing.
01:09:13 --> 01:09:15 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:09:15 --> 01:09:16 [SPEAKER_00]: He said he sounded a little chuffed.
01:09:16 --> 01:09:21 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I kind of feel like you're doing the Chris Christophus and what I did to the turn.
01:09:22 --> 01:09:23 [SPEAKER_00]: It's fair.
01:09:25 --> 01:09:27 [SPEAKER_00]: It's the sexy horse done.
01:09:27 --> 01:09:28 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm pretty sure that.
01:09:30 --> 01:09:33 [SPEAKER_00]: There's no way Chris Chris Doverston has a you know dabble.
01:09:33 --> 01:09:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
01:09:33 --> 01:09:39 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to select inside man and inner space.
01:09:40 --> 01:09:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
01:09:42 --> 01:09:44 [SPEAKER_00]: Kind of a surprising selection.
01:09:44 --> 01:09:46 [SPEAKER_01]: Why do you say that?
01:09:47 --> 01:09:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Inner space because I dislike Martin Short.
01:09:52 --> 01:09:53 [SPEAKER_01]: I do dislike Martin Short.
01:09:54 --> 01:09:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Although the combination of of
01:10:00 --> 01:10:01 [SPEAKER_00]: You just like Martin Short.
01:10:02 --> 01:10:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Look, I know that he's the funniest man alive at dinner parties.
01:10:06 --> 01:10:07 [SPEAKER_01]: Guess what, I've never been invited.
01:10:08 --> 01:10:15 [SPEAKER_01]: And all I ever see is him on talk shows and television shows that are not great.
01:10:15 --> 01:10:18 [SPEAKER_01]: I do enjoy a couple SNL sketches.
01:10:18 --> 01:10:19 [SPEAKER_01]: I do like three megos.
01:10:19 --> 01:10:21 [SPEAKER_00]: He runs his juniors jackpot wad.
01:10:22 --> 01:10:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I do appreciate that he was cat in the hat in the cartoon, but uh, I've never been a Martin short guy.
01:10:32 --> 01:10:33 [UNKNOWN]: Wow.
01:10:34 --> 01:10:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Green Migos done do for you.
01:10:36 --> 01:10:40 [SPEAKER_01]: I do like three Migos and that is that that's just going to be the outlier.
01:10:41 --> 01:10:41 [UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
01:10:42 --> 01:10:44 [SPEAKER_01]: So it is now your turn.
01:10:45 --> 01:10:46 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:10:46 --> 01:10:50 [SPEAKER_00]: So what are we for sure watching Devil's Advocate, Oh God, nine to five Mr.
01:10:50 --> 01:10:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Mom.
01:10:51 --> 01:10:52 [SPEAKER_00]: inside man in respect.
01:10:52 --> 01:10:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Correct.
01:10:55 --> 01:10:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Very good.
01:10:55 --> 01:10:59 [SPEAKER_00]: I am going to select Zodiac and Dirty Harry.
01:10:59 --> 01:11:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I was hoping we would do Zodiac one of these days.
01:11:04 --> 01:11:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Now for sure we are.
01:11:06 --> 01:11:06 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:11:07 --> 01:11:07 [SPEAKER_00]: So you get to pick.
01:11:07 --> 01:11:08 [SPEAKER_00]: Right.
01:11:08 --> 01:11:08 [SPEAKER_00]: And this is it.
01:11:11 --> 01:11:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm thinking about the other list now.
01:11:15 --> 01:11:19 [SPEAKER_00]: And what we have left is Joe versus the volcano in short time.
01:11:21 --> 01:11:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Psycho 2 and XSS3, Bagonia and the day the earth stood still, C'mando and first blood and air and tetra.
01:11:30 --> 01:11:35 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to select Jovers is the volcano and short time.
01:11:36 --> 01:11:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Wow, man lots of damn me lots of Terry Gar.
01:11:42 --> 01:11:47 [SPEAKER_00]: All right well we got our surprise you didn't I can surprise you didn't go command of the first bug.
01:11:48 --> 01:11:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think I just my affection for Jovers of all Kano kind of one out.
01:11:55 --> 01:11:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Definitely kind of rode the co-tails on that one.
01:11:59 --> 01:12:06 [SPEAKER_00]: So your your list where you got to pick your your initial movies first one out.
01:12:06 --> 01:12:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, because you got you got a forum for from your list.
01:12:13 --> 01:12:15 [SPEAKER_01]: So you you select a devil's advocate.
01:12:16 --> 01:12:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
01:12:18 --> 01:12:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Otherwise, I was sort of lead dance partner.
01:12:25 --> 01:12:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
01:12:26 --> 01:12:26 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
01:12:26 --> 01:12:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Because of that, I feel like I'm going to allow you to take the lead with the listener selections.
01:12:35 --> 01:12:35 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:12:35 --> 01:12:37 [SPEAKER_00]: So we had a narrow down to three.
01:12:38 --> 01:12:39 [SPEAKER_00]: three double features.
01:12:39 --> 01:12:41 [SPEAKER_00]: We had five club and office space.
01:12:42 --> 01:12:50 [SPEAKER_00]: We had 28 years later in the drama and then taken and finding Nemo.
01:12:52 --> 01:12:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Now taking a look at what we've chosen.
01:13:01 --> 01:13:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Five club and office
01:13:05 --> 01:13:06 [SPEAKER_00]: be somewhat unique.
01:13:07 --> 01:13:09 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, there is the office space.
01:13:09 --> 01:13:11 [SPEAKER_00]: We have Jovers of the Volcano.
01:13:12 --> 01:13:14 [SPEAKER_00]: We have, sure, time to have Mr. Mong of 95.
01:13:14 --> 01:13:22 [SPEAKER_00]: There's, uh, it feels like there's a fair of office comedy.
01:13:22 --> 01:13:27 [SPEAKER_01]: And in addition to that, we have, um, uh, another
01:13:33 --> 01:13:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Right, so so it makes me feel as much as I love this pairing that we might we might be already kind of been there done that oh I thought you said this would this would work thematically with the season well it would create it would almost feel like it's creating a theme for the season right I don't you know
01:14:00 --> 01:14:03 [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of offices, office stuff happening, right?
01:14:03 --> 01:14:06 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I guess the outlier would be devil's advocate, no God.
01:14:06 --> 01:14:10 [SPEAKER_00]: I know that devil's advocate would probably have some workplace.
01:14:11 --> 01:14:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Look, in Zodiac, there's a lot of office.
01:14:13 --> 01:14:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because Dramx in that movie is wrong.
01:14:17 --> 01:14:25 [SPEAKER_00]: All right, so this would almost create a double feature theme that almost becomes a, you know, a 12 movie close enough type of theme.
01:14:25 --> 01:14:25 [SPEAKER_00]: So
01:14:25 --> 01:14:27 [SPEAKER_00]: So that's one way to look at it.
01:14:27 --> 01:14:35 [SPEAKER_00]: 28 years later in the drama, do feel very different from what we're doing, which might be a good thing.
01:14:35 --> 01:14:45 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if we read the links, Alicia wrote, how do societal influences both encourage and condemn violent action?
01:14:45 --> 01:14:53 [SPEAKER_01]: What makes someone a good or bad person and how to toxic allies as escalate on savory situations?
01:14:54 --> 01:14:57 [SPEAKER_01]: And then so then it'll take and then find a Nemo.
01:14:58 --> 01:14:59 [SPEAKER_00]: I really kind of like this.
01:15:01 --> 01:15:02 [SPEAKER_00]: It's very.
01:15:04 --> 01:15:05 [SPEAKER_00]: Look, either way, I'm watching something.
01:15:05 --> 01:15:07 [SPEAKER_00]: I guess, you know, because I've seen.
01:15:07 --> 01:15:09 [SPEAKER_00]: I club an office space man.
01:15:09 --> 01:15:16 [SPEAKER_00]: I, I kind of want to take the 28 years later off just because I don't know how many movies I want to watch in prep.
01:15:18 --> 01:15:18 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm letting you lead.
01:15:20 --> 01:15:23 [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm going to narrow it down to take it and find a Nemo.
01:15:24 --> 01:15:31 [SPEAKER_00]: and fight club in office space go fight club in office space
01:15:32 --> 01:15:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, how could you go wrong?
01:15:33 --> 01:15:35 [SPEAKER_01]: You just can't go wrong.
01:15:35 --> 01:15:38 [SPEAKER_01]: So, a half congrats.
01:15:39 --> 01:15:43 [SPEAKER_01]: And we will now read the full list.
01:15:44 --> 01:15:51 [SPEAKER_01]: We have Fight Club office space zodiac dirty hairy, nine to five, and Mr.
01:15:51 --> 01:15:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Mom, inside Man and inner space.
01:15:56 --> 01:16:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Jovers is a volcano in short time Devils advocate and oh god The 1977 George Burns and John Denver movie with the lovely Terry guard Oh So Steve we got Halloween coming up.
01:16:17 --> 01:16:23 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna suggest we start with Devils advocate Okay, and then it's nice because then um
01:16:24 --> 01:16:27 [SPEAKER_00]: We can kind of do like an all Saints day with oh god.
01:16:27 --> 01:16:27 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:16:27 --> 01:16:29 [SPEAKER_01]: So that'll be our first duo.
01:16:30 --> 01:16:33 [SPEAKER_01]: We are going to be doing these in separate weeks.
01:16:34 --> 01:16:36 [SPEAKER_01]: But we will do one right after the next.
01:16:36 --> 01:16:41 [SPEAKER_01]: We will start with levels advocate and we will follow that up with oh god.
01:16:43 --> 01:16:43 [SPEAKER_00]: Love it.
01:16:52 --> 01:16:53 [UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
01:17:49 --> 01:17:50 [UNKNOWN]: Come on!
