[00:00:18] Hello and welcome back to the Radioactive Ramblings podcast, the show where we are three buddies who get together and ramble about movies, TV, video games, and always get chronically sidetracked. I'm one of your hosts, Aaron.
[00:00:34] And I'm the final one, Richard.
[00:00:40] Before we get into the topic of today's episode, I want to share a little bit about our Patreon, which is brand new.
[00:00:47] If you want to help us keep things running and support your favorite Ramblers, consider joining us for as little as $2 a month with our Chatterbox tier.
[00:00:57] For that, you're going to receive early and ad-free podcasts, as well as some exclusive content.
[00:01:03] For the most dedicated Ramblers out there, we've also got a few higher tiers, so check out the link in the show notes to see if a membership is right for you.
[00:01:11] Chase, what are we going to be rambling about today?
[00:01:15] Today, we're going to be yipping and yapping about...
[00:01:20] Okay, okay.
[00:01:22] About Act 3 of Season 2 of Arcane.
[00:01:27] Yes, we are.
[00:01:28] But before we get the episode started off for you, we just want to very obviously note there will be spoilers for the whole rest of Arcane and just the series as a whole.
[00:01:39] So if you're listening to this and you have not watched Act 3, put a pin in it and come back to it later when you have watched Season 2 Act 3.
[00:01:49] Because that shit is great, and if you get it spoiled by us yapping, you're going to be mad.
[00:01:54] Because you want to experience Peak for the first time.
[00:01:57] And also stay off of TikTok, because you'll get that spoiled for you like I did.
[00:02:02] Yeah, I didn't get that spoiled. I knew about the 4 frames per second scene, but nothing else.
[00:02:09] Although that was great.
[00:02:11] But before we get into it, we just have one other thing, which is how to contact us.
[00:02:16] We have a lot of different ways, honestly an army of different ways to contact us. It's kind of crazy.
[00:02:21] And the first is our email, radioactive at thelorehounds.com.
[00:02:26] We also have a channel set up for radioactive ramblings inside the Discord server for the Lorehounds.
[00:02:31] You can send us a message, chat about the show.
[00:02:34] And we have a contact form, or you can leave us a voicemail at thelorehounds.com.
[00:02:40] And consider giving us a follow on Blue Sky, which is Radioactive 141.
[00:02:44] We also would appreciate a rating on Apple Podcasts, or Spotify, or Audible, or wherever else you listen to us.
[00:02:52] It helps other people find us.
[00:02:56] Yeah, all that info is going to be in the show notes as well.
[00:03:00] So without further ado...
[00:03:02] Actually, you know what? No.
[00:03:04] Before we get started, how are you both doing today?
[00:03:08] Oh, sorry. I just got back.
[00:03:09] I had to put some pants and a hat on because it's so cold.
[00:03:14] A hat?
[00:03:16] Yeah.
[00:03:16] You're inside, aren't you?
[00:03:17] I'm just thinking of what this guy has to say at this point.
[00:03:19] What the hell?
[00:03:21] It's like a Christmas...
[00:03:26] I'm going to text you guys a picture.
[00:03:29] Like a beanie? Like a Santa hat?
[00:03:32] I'm excited to see what Chase Posner has for us.
[00:03:35] Please cut that out. Cut that out. Cut that out.
[00:03:37] I am not trying to dox Chase. I'm sorry.
[00:03:40] Richard?
[00:03:43] Aaron?
[00:03:44] How are you?
[00:03:45] I'm fucking fantastic.
[00:03:46] I am listening through all of Brandon Sanderson's newest book and I am enjoying it a lot.
[00:03:56] How are you doing?
[00:03:57] I'm doing pretty good today.
[00:03:59] I'm very happy to be talking about Act 3 of Season 2.
[00:04:04] You want to give us a little bit of a rundown of this season?
[00:04:07] Yeah, yeah.
[00:04:09] Let's...
[00:04:10] Alright.
[00:04:14] So for Faye's rundown, we're going to have a little bit more of a long-winded breakdown.
[00:04:21] Um...
[00:04:21] Um...
[00:04:22] Because this act is jam-packed full of important moments.
[00:04:26] So I just kind of want to give everything a little spotlight just so we don't miss anything important.
[00:04:34] So, in Act 3 of Arcane Season 2, the narrative reaches its climax, weaving together the fates of Piltover and Zahn's key figures in a series of intense confrontations and poignant resolutions.
[00:04:49] Echo utilizes his time manipulating the Z-Drive to rescue Jinx from a self-destructive act.
[00:04:57] After multiple attempts, he successfully saves her, leading to a heartfelt exchange that rekindles their bond and offers Jinx a glimmer of hope amidst her turmoil.
[00:05:07] The escalating conflict culminates in a decisive battle against Victor and Ambassador Medarda's Noxian forces.
[00:05:16] Piltover's enforcers, led by Caitlyn and Zahnite rebels, including Vi and Jinx, form an uneasy alliance to thwart Victor's plan to unify humanity under his vision of the Glorious Evolution.
[00:05:30] Um...
[00:05:31] Which is actually a line from the game.
[00:05:38] It's like a voice line that his character is always spamming.
[00:05:42] This alliance underscores a pivotal moment of unity between the two cities.
[00:05:47] Victor, having merged with Shimmer-infused Blood, attains a formidable power and seeks to impose his vision on Piltover and Zahn.
[00:05:57] However, confronted by Jace and reminded of their shared past, Victor experiences a moment of clarity and recognizing the flaws in his ideology he chooses to sacrifice himself to prevent further destruction, bringing a tragic yet redemptive end to his arc.
[00:06:18] Embessa Medarda's ambition leads her to a confrontation with Caitlyn.
[00:06:24] Despite her formidable prowess, Embessa is ultimately defeated, symbolizing the collapse of external threats and paving the way for potential reconciliation between Piltover and Zahn.
[00:06:36] In the battle's aftermath, Jinx is presumed dead following a massive explosion.
[00:06:42] However, subtle clues such as a distinctive pink flash and Caitlyn's discovery of an intact explosive monkey suggest she may have survived, leaving her ultimate fate ambiguous and open to interpretation.
[00:06:56] This season concludes with Piltover and Zahn on the brink of a fragile peace.
[00:07:01] The resolution of key characters' arcs and the introduction of new elements hint at the expansive potential of the League of Legends universe, setting the stage for future narratives and spinoffs that will explore other regions and characters.
[00:07:21] All right.
[00:07:24] Sorry.
[00:07:25] There's actually another one.
[00:07:27] No, there's another one.
[00:07:28] I didn't think I needed to write to put that.
[00:07:31] I mean, I wrote it, motherfucker.
[00:07:33] Mm, I don't think you know this source material like that, bro.
[00:07:37] A little bit of source material like that.
[00:07:40] I did want to quickly add on to our little spoiler warning.
[00:07:44] I think that I want to add a quick disclaimer for...
[00:07:48] Sorry, can you say that one more time?
[00:07:50] I said that I wanted to add a quick disclaimer for the spoilers of our show right now, just because in case we get into some of the League of Legends lore, I want that to kind of be open if we have any questions about that for Chase or anything like that.
[00:08:07] I feel like that won't be a problem for most of our listeners because League of Legends lore is kind of complicated and it seems like they're doing a lot of changes.
[00:08:14] Not a spoiler or anything.
[00:08:18] Like, there's no, like, story mode in League of Legends.
[00:08:22] All of that stuff is, like, stuff you have to, like, go to their website and read.
[00:08:27] Okay, so not really a spoiler.
[00:08:29] But anyways, if you wanted to read that on your own, too bad, because we're going to spoil it for you.
[00:08:38] But yeah, no new characters are really introduced in the last act, which makes sense because, obviously, last act, this is when everything comes to an end.
[00:08:48] So we pretty much just have a few characters that we wanted to touch up on and talk about how they ended.
[00:08:57] But should we do a few hot takes before that?
[00:09:01] Yeah, we can do hot takes first.
[00:09:03] Chase, you want to start us off with your hot takes?
[00:09:06] Yeah, I'll leave the spiciest one for last.
[00:09:10] Okay.
[00:09:12] So my first hot take, which I feel like is kind of a lukewarm take, honestly, is I feel like that Loris, Seb, and Maddie were hyped up slash given too much screen time for very little impact on the story.
[00:09:28] Who is Seb?
[00:09:30] He's the fish guy.
[00:09:31] He's like the fish guy.
[00:09:33] Yeah, Loris was the big dude.
[00:09:34] And I feel like...
[00:09:35] The big dude with the shield.
[00:09:37] No, I knew Loris.
[00:09:38] I knew Mr. Muttonchops.
[00:09:40] When he died and it focused on him for a solid few seconds, it was just...
[00:09:45] I don't know.
[00:09:45] I didn't care that much.
[00:09:49] His death was shocking to me.
[00:09:51] Not because I was like, no, I didn't want him to die.
[00:09:54] I was so attached to him.
[00:09:56] More just because I was like, there's no way that's how they ended his character.
[00:10:02] Like, he was about to pull off something heroic and just got fucking shot in the neck.
[00:10:09] Yeah.
[00:10:09] Maddie's death was really heroic.
[00:10:11] I mean, I enjoyed Maddie's death, but that's all I enjoyed about her character.
[00:10:16] She deserved it so bad.
[00:10:19] Maddie.
[00:10:20] Sorry.
[00:10:21] Um...
[00:10:21] Okay.
[00:10:24] And then Seb, like, he literally has, like, zero lines.
[00:10:28] So, yeah.
[00:10:29] Was he the fish guy with the beret?
[00:10:31] Yes.
[00:10:32] Yeah.
[00:10:32] He was the fish guy that was in, like, the special enforcer squad that Vi was with.
[00:10:36] Vi and Caitlyn were, like, running.
[00:10:38] I see.
[00:10:39] You know what?
[00:10:40] Now that you mention him, I do remember him.
[00:10:45] I remember him having a little bit too much screen time for a character with no lines.
[00:10:50] But, yeah.
[00:10:51] The Loras scene was so prolonged.
[00:10:54] I was like, are we really spending this much time on this guy's death right now?
[00:10:58] Like, he didn't even do anything important.
[00:11:00] Granted, he was trying to.
[00:11:03] But...
[00:11:04] Yeah.
[00:11:05] I also felt like his introduction into the story was kind of ridiculous.
[00:11:09] The way that they said him.
[00:11:10] Yeah, it was a little haphazard.
[00:11:11] Just, like, throw him in there, I guess.
[00:11:13] It was just him and Vi, like, drinking on the side of the road.
[00:11:17] And somehow he got scooped up into this elite unit.
[00:11:22] Yeah, I don't know how that worked.
[00:11:23] Because they never specified whether or not he was, like, already an enforcer prior.
[00:11:29] Like, I guess that would have made more sense if he was already an enforcer.
[00:11:33] And because he was buddies with Vi now that he got his, like, golden ticket into the crew.
[00:11:39] But it would be so much more goofy if he was actually just a fucking random dude.
[00:11:46] And then got put into the elite squad.
[00:11:50] Because he shared a fucking drink with Vi.
[00:11:53] You know, Loras' death scene really made me feel like there were probably a lot of scenes in this season that got left on the cutting room floor.
[00:12:02] For sure.
[00:12:03] I definitely believe.
[00:12:04] That reminds me of the Lord of the Rings movie when they say goodbye to the horse or the pony.
[00:12:12] Bill, yes.
[00:12:13] And they're like, bye, Bill, you're such a great horse.
[00:12:17] And it's like, what?
[00:12:18] Excuse me?
[00:12:19] Like, there was no other scenes where he's, like, doing anything in the movie.
[00:12:25] So there must be, like, so much cut content, right?
[00:12:30] Where it's just, like, them interacting with each other.
[00:12:34] Right.
[00:12:35] Yeah.
[00:12:36] There's gotta be.
[00:12:40] Okay, I'll go into my next hot take.
[00:12:42] I think that Vi should not have been okay with the gray abuse from Caitlyn.
[00:12:48] And should have had a harder time getting back with her and accepting her, like, apology.
[00:12:55] Right.
[00:12:56] I feel like it was kind of instantaneous.
[00:12:59] Yeah.
[00:12:59] Or at least, like, maybe that's the wrong word to use.
[00:13:02] But, like, relatively instantaneous.
[00:13:05] Like, considering crimes.
[00:13:07] Like, I was gonna say, like, at first I was, like, trying to make an excuse for her in my head and be like, I mean, like, I get under, like, I understand, like, forgiving a loved one for doing something so awful.
[00:13:18] But it's like, this is literally, like, a war crime.
[00:13:21] Like, this is next level.
[00:13:22] Like.
[00:13:23] Chase.
[00:13:24] Are you telling me you wouldn't forgive me if I committed war crimes?
[00:13:30] Probably not, honestly.
[00:13:31] Aw.
[00:13:33] Well, I have some bad news.
[00:13:34] Like, maybe if you, like, sent me, like, a stimulus check, I would think about it.
[00:13:39] A stimulus check.
[00:13:43] Go back to COVID times, except it's Richard shelling out the dough.
[00:13:48] Because he's spreading his vile gas around.
[00:13:53] Gassing it up, as they say.
[00:13:55] Yeah.
[00:13:55] Money spread on IG, too.
[00:13:57] You know what they say, when you're with Richard, someone's always cutting cheese.
[00:14:01] Alright?
[00:14:02] Oh, what?
[00:14:03] Okay, let's get back to the hot take.
[00:14:05] Do you guys agree or disagree with my...
[00:14:09] I'm with you.
[00:14:11] Maybe not after those comments you just made.
[00:14:12] But...
[00:14:14] I think that there's a lot of reasons why Vi should have been a little bit more skeptical about getting back with Caitlyn.
[00:14:23] I think that...
[00:14:25] Kate kind of did a lot to break the trust between the two of them, so it should have been a little bit more difficult.
[00:14:31] But I don't think they had time to tell that story, so I'm kind of okay with the fact that they got together.
[00:14:38] I'm happy that with our final product of Arcane, I do think it would have benefited from a third season.
[00:14:46] I think...
[00:14:47] I mean, like, they didn't even have to do nine whole episodes for a third season, but I really do believe that...
[00:14:54] Season two, I wouldn't say felt rushed, but it certainly felt crammed.
[00:14:59] There is so much content in season two and so many important story arcs and character arcs that happened.
[00:15:07] Right.
[00:15:08] That I think that if we just gave them another, I don't know, like four hours of screen time, it would have...
[00:15:17] There would have been so many of our hot takes or, like, problems with the show that, like, we would not be having complaints about.
[00:15:25] Yeah.
[00:15:25] Right, they could have done, like, an epilogue or something.
[00:15:28] Yeah.
[00:15:30] Well, mate, that's not the wrong...
[00:15:31] Never mind.
[00:15:32] I'm gonna show you.
[00:15:33] No, I get what you're trying to say, though.
[00:15:35] Chase, I think that your third and final hot take kind of...
[00:15:39] It goes really well with the point about Vi and Kate's relationship being rushed.
[00:15:45] Yeah, exactly.
[00:15:46] Especially...
[00:15:47] I mean, this hot take, I'm gonna talk about it.
[00:15:49] I'm gonna give an explanation.
[00:15:52] So, everyone who hears this, before you write your hate mail to us, I would like a chance to explain myself first.
[00:16:03] And before you go on, I would just like to say, only address your hate mail to Chase, alright?
[00:16:10] I'm kidding.
[00:16:11] I'm sorry.
[00:16:12] I thought we were doing this as a team, motherfucker.
[00:16:16] Alright.
[00:16:17] Alright.
[00:16:18] Um, I thought that the sex scene had really poor timing contextually within the show.
[00:16:25] Because it takes place literally right after Jinx basically tells Vi she's gonna go kill herself or disappear.
[00:16:35] Which I feel like still means kill self.
[00:16:38] Or something of self-harm.
[00:16:42] Which, I mean, clearly Vi and Jinx have not, I wouldn't say fully mended their relationship, but are at a point where Vi is able to recognize Jinx as her sister again.
[00:16:56] And show that they love each other.
[00:16:58] I think that seeing Vi ignore or put off Jinx's cry for help to get laid is a little odd.
[00:17:11] I think that, obviously, it's like they're in a very, like, life or death situation and brink of war.
[00:17:23] So, like, I understand that, like, get your bag when you can.
[00:17:28] But at the same time, your little sister is on the verge of killing herself and you're...
[00:17:36] Horny.
[00:17:37] Yeah, you're horny.
[00:17:40] I agree with that point.
[00:17:42] I think that it would have been better if they had waited a few more scenes.
[00:17:48] Or just put that scene with Jinx a little bit earlier.
[00:17:51] I don't know.
[00:17:52] Just anything to put some distance between the sex scene and Jinx's, like, experience where she is admitting to her sister that she's about to do something drastic and might not be around anymore.
[00:18:11] Like, that's...
[00:18:12] It's just very poor timing.
[00:18:14] I think that both of those scenes were, like, really important for the relationships between both of those characters.
[00:18:21] Or between...
[00:18:22] Oh, I completely agree.
[00:18:24] I think the scene should be in the show.
[00:18:27] I don't think that it needs to be removed.
[00:18:30] I just think it needs to be placed somewhere else.
[00:18:33] Yeah, I think that they were...
[00:18:35] Both of those scenes were so important for Vi's interpersonal relationships in both her family and her romantic life.
[00:18:44] And sandwiching them together just didn't work well.
[00:18:48] It just made it seem weird.
[00:18:50] I didn't pick up on that the first time.
[00:18:52] I just kind of was going with whatever was happening in the show.
[00:18:55] But after you brought it up to me, because you did bring it up to me before we recorded this podcast, like, a while back.
[00:19:02] And I was like, oh, I didn't even think of it like that.
[00:19:04] But now that I have heard that perspective, it's stuck in my head now.
[00:19:15] All right.
[00:19:17] Richard, you don't have any hot takes today?
[00:19:20] I do not.
[00:19:21] I was too lazy to write any again.
[00:19:23] No, no.
[00:19:24] When I...
[00:19:24] Wow.
[00:19:25] When I was writing on the outline, because I wrote after you guys, the only one that I really agreed with was your one about Loras, Seven, Maddie.
[00:19:36] I'm not going to lie.
[00:19:36] That's the only one you agreed with?
[00:19:38] I would have...
[00:19:38] If I had written it to...
[00:19:39] Well, I agreed with most of them.
[00:19:41] But, like, the only one, I guess, that I really would have mentioned was that one.
[00:19:45] And I'm not going to lie.
[00:19:46] I would have wrote, I feel like Loras, Fishguy, and Maddie.
[00:19:49] Because I didn't know his name.
[00:19:52] How did you find out that his name was Seb?
[00:19:54] Do you really want to know?
[00:19:56] It's kind of embarrassing.
[00:19:58] Did you see one of those, like...
[00:20:00] I want to know.
[00:20:00] Can I guess how you found...
[00:20:02] Yeah, sure.
[00:20:03] Because I've seen TikTok edits where people are, like, thirsting over the fish die.
[00:20:08] Yep, that's exactly what it was.
[00:20:09] And then I liked to comment on it that it was like, honey, I think your favorite movie might be The Shape of Water.
[00:20:18] Yeah.
[00:20:19] You're right.
[00:20:21] No, that's the only reason why I know this character exists.
[00:20:24] Because I saw people on TikTok, like, making edits of him.
[00:20:27] And I'm like, who is that?
[00:20:30] That's the only reason I know his name.
[00:20:32] That's the only reason I know his name.
[00:20:33] No, yeah.
[00:20:34] Otherwise...
[00:20:34] Seriously, who is that?
[00:20:36] Okay.
[00:20:37] Anyways.
[00:20:39] I'll get on to my hot takes.
[00:20:40] My hot take number one.
[00:20:42] Heimerdinger didn't have to die.
[00:20:44] Bring him back.
[00:20:45] Respawn him in Yordle City or wherever he's from.
[00:20:47] Bandle Land.
[00:20:50] Bandle Land.
[00:20:51] Yordle City.
[00:20:52] Same thing.
[00:20:52] Yoda Town.
[00:20:53] I don't really care.
[00:20:54] With Bandle Brew.
[00:20:56] Bandle Brew?
[00:20:57] Is that, like...
[00:20:58] That's...
[00:20:59] They're, like, alcohol in Bandle Land.
[00:21:02] Right.
[00:21:02] Right.
[00:21:03] Heimerdinger probably makes the best Bandle Brew.
[00:21:06] Heimerdinger!
[00:21:06] Heimerdinger probably makes the best Bandle Brew.
[00:21:11] Um...
[00:21:12] Maybe.
[00:21:13] Maybe.
[00:21:14] Think about it.
[00:21:15] Him and...
[00:21:16] What's-his-face singed?
[00:21:18] Top alchemist?
[00:21:19] You can't tell me that that guy doesn't know.
[00:21:21] Top alchemist.
[00:21:23] Anyways.
[00:21:24] That guy puts acid in your beer when you're not paying attention.
[00:21:28] Yeah, I wouldn't trust singed around anyone's drink.
[00:21:32] That guy is shady as hell.
[00:21:34] But my second hot take here...
[00:21:36] I only have two.
[00:21:37] I'm not as fun as Chase with my three hot takes.
[00:21:41] But...
[00:21:41] I think that it would have been a lot more impactful...
[00:21:45] The final battle if Victor's followers weren't just turned into faceless robots.
[00:21:50] Which I understand.
[00:21:51] That's kind of the point.
[00:21:52] Is that he's taking away all of their autonomy.
[00:21:54] But at the same time...
[00:21:55] When all of these people that he's taken control of are turned into...
[00:22:00] Basically machines that don't have any semblance of who they were before...
[00:22:06] Every time one of them dies...
[00:22:08] You don't really feel the impact of like...
[00:22:10] Someone real whose...
[00:22:13] Freedom has been taken away from them.
[00:22:15] It has just died and it's not their fault.
[00:22:17] You just feel like, oh, another robot is dead.
[00:22:21] Yeah.
[00:22:21] It would have been cooler if they made them into the robots.
[00:22:25] But like...
[00:22:26] Their faces were just like...
[00:22:28] Like the robot.
[00:22:30] But with their like human face on it.
[00:22:33] I will say...
[00:22:34] There is a very cool detail which I missed on my first watch.
[00:22:39] That I only had pointed out to me because I was...
[00:22:42] Scrolling through.
[00:22:43] I don't remember if it was Discord or TikTok.
[00:22:45] But I saw a detail which was one of the robots.
[00:22:50] The one that attacks Jace and Mel inside of the council chamber.
[00:22:55] It was the same guy that Victor initially heals of the Shimmer addiction.
[00:23:02] Oh yeah.
[00:23:03] It was him because he had the same pendant and the same...
[00:23:06] I think it was a shoulder piece.
[00:23:08] Something like that.
[00:23:09] But those two little details to point to the fact that that used to be him.
[00:23:14] Oh.
[00:23:14] Interesting.
[00:23:15] Yeah.
[00:23:17] That's all I really have unless you guys had any final comments on the hot take section.
[00:23:22] I wish I were doing it.
[00:23:24] They probably...
[00:23:24] Like my beloved goat.
[00:23:27] It probably made them all like the robots as similar as possible.
[00:23:31] Just because it's easier to animate that way.
[00:23:34] Yeah.
[00:23:35] That was probably a big part of it.
[00:23:37] They already have so much shit to animate.
[00:23:40] It's a really minor nitpick in like what was probably...
[00:23:45] The grand scheme of nitpicks.
[00:23:46] Yeah.
[00:23:47] In my...
[00:23:48] One of my favorite final acts of a show.
[00:23:51] It was such a minor thing.
[00:23:53] But I mean...
[00:23:54] This just goes to show how...
[00:23:56] Far I had to dig to find something wrong with this season.
[00:24:00] You know what I mean?
[00:24:00] Like I just...
[00:24:02] There wasn't a whole lot that I didn't like.
[00:24:07] Yeah.
[00:24:07] Should we do like a few character catch-ups and talk about some endings?
[00:24:12] Can we just mention a few things about the characters I think?
[00:24:16] Yeah.
[00:24:17] Jason-Victor dichotomy.
[00:24:19] Kind of crazy.
[00:24:21] I really liked their ending where...
[00:24:25] Jace says like we do it together.
[00:24:28] Or something like that.
[00:24:30] Right.
[00:24:30] In like the...
[00:24:31] Friendship realm?
[00:24:33] In the friendship realm?
[00:24:34] Is that what I wrote?
[00:24:35] I think so.
[00:24:37] I saw it written somewhere.
[00:24:38] That's where the power of friendship is born though.
[00:24:42] Yeah.
[00:24:42] Truly.
[00:24:43] Another thing that I really liked about the Jason-Victor ending was...
[00:24:48] When the older Victor...
[00:24:50] When we finally get to see that flashback of older Victor giving...
[00:24:55] Jace a little pep talk in the world that he destroyed.
[00:24:59] We have him telling Jace that in all these universes...
[00:25:03] You're the one thing that can convince me that I need to hold on to my humanity.
[00:25:09] I don't remember what the exact quote was but that was kind of the sentiment.
[00:25:12] Was that...
[00:25:13] You're the only one who could convince me that...
[00:25:16] It's not worth it to make everyone into a singular robot.
[00:25:21] Damn.
[00:25:21] I love when we get two best friends and one of them turns evil and the other one has...
[00:25:26] Is the only one who can and will stop them.
[00:25:29] Crazy that we've gotten it three times in like big media in the last couple years.
[00:25:34] Crazy that three episodes ago Jace went in guns blazing and blasted Victor's face off.
[00:25:40] And in the third episode of this act he uses the power of friendship to bring him back.
[00:25:45] What a switch up.
[00:25:46] And the power of friendship is what works.
[00:25:48] What if fire turn around now?
[00:25:51] Yeah I would say so.
[00:25:52] Rather fire.
[00:25:54] Another character that I think we should spend a little time on is Ambessa.
[00:26:00] The way that she just gets foiled in the end by Mel.
[00:26:04] It's so good man.
[00:26:06] That one little tactical error she makes throughout the series.
[00:26:10] Or not just one tactical error but the series of small short-sighted errors she makes that leads to her downfall.
[00:26:18] It's just so perfect.
[00:26:24] Yeah.
[00:26:25] Yeah.
[00:26:25] I have a little bit more to say.
[00:26:27] I have a little bit more to say about her in my art moment because...
[00:26:31] Yeah of course you do dumbass.
[00:26:32] I always have more to say about Ambessa.
[00:26:35] I believe it.
[00:26:38] Does anyone have anything to say about Mel's character?
[00:26:43] Just that I thought her powers were sick as fuck.
[00:26:47] I mean come on.
[00:26:49] I loved it when she used it to kill Maddie.
[00:26:52] I was gonna say.
[00:26:53] You only like her powers if she used them to kill Maddie.
[00:26:56] I mean that's definitely part of it.
[00:26:58] And save Kate.
[00:27:00] Is it the bigger...
[00:27:01] No.
[00:27:01] No.
[00:27:01] Who gives a shit?
[00:27:04] I would be fine if Kate died just so that it...
[00:27:07] If it had a chance...
[00:27:09] What the fuck was I gonna say?
[00:27:11] I thought it was really interesting that she chose to save her mom.
[00:27:15] Yeah.
[00:27:16] I think that's interesting too.
[00:27:17] Or not like save because her mom still fucking died but...
[00:27:21] Have mercy maybe?
[00:27:23] To like help her.
[00:27:25] Yeah.
[00:27:28] Jinx is...
[00:27:29] Okay.
[00:27:30] This has been a big point of debate online.
[00:27:33] And I personally am leaning one way or another.
[00:27:37] But is she dead or not?
[00:27:39] I think she definitely survived.
[00:27:42] Yeah.
[00:27:43] I think she's alive as well.
[00:27:45] Okay.
[00:27:45] Oh yeah.
[00:27:46] I'm about to say something that might be a spoiler.
[00:27:50] So...
[00:27:52] If you guys on listening right now do not want to know it.
[00:27:58] It's about Jinx.
[00:28:00] Tune out for like the next minute.
[00:28:03] And then come back.
[00:28:05] Um...
[00:28:06] In the League of Legends, Laura Jinx should still be alive.
[00:28:14] Okay.
[00:28:15] But yeah.
[00:28:15] I mean so should Victor, right?
[00:28:17] And Ambessa.
[00:28:18] No.
[00:28:19] No?
[00:28:20] But aren't they in the games?
[00:28:21] Yeah.
[00:28:22] But just because you're in the game doesn't mean your character is like still around.
[00:28:26] Okay.
[00:28:26] I see.
[00:28:27] So it's different.
[00:28:29] Like...
[00:28:30] Like...
[00:28:32] Uh...
[00:28:33] I think...
[00:28:34] Yeah.
[00:28:34] So basically everything in Arcane is considered like the new precedent for all of those characters
[00:28:41] and those areas in Runeterra.
[00:28:45] But I think Jinx should still technically be alive.
[00:28:50] Also I think it's so heavily hinted at that Jinx survived that it's like...
[00:28:55] I don't know.
[00:28:57] I think like the whole thing is in the moment you're supposed to think she's dead but then
[00:29:02] you like realize oh she's actually okay.
[00:29:06] I also think we would have seen in the epilogue that we got with Vi and Kate I think that we
[00:29:13] would have seen Vi be a little bit more shaken up about Jinx's death in that moment.
[00:29:19] Maybe...
[00:29:19] I feel like we also would have seen Echo mourning her death if she was dead.
[00:29:25] That's very true.
[00:29:26] I feel like Vi, Echo, all of the people who were close to Jinx have already mourned once
[00:29:34] with the death of Powder.
[00:29:36] And so...
[00:29:38] I feel like we would have seen a little bit more out of them if Jinx was actually dead.
[00:29:43] Yeah.
[00:29:44] I agree.
[00:29:46] I don't have a lot to say about Echo other than he's the goat and I want him in whatever
[00:29:52] projects come next.
[00:29:54] No, he's amazing.
[00:29:56] And also...
[00:29:57] The four frames for a second, man.
[00:29:59] The boy savior.
[00:30:00] The boy savior.
[00:30:01] Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:30:02] The boy savior.
[00:30:02] You stopped mentioning four frames because I actually wrote that in interesting moments.
[00:30:07] Well, I mean...
[00:30:08] Because I wanted to put it in my interesting and also my art moments, like kind of a two
[00:30:11] for one.
[00:30:12] I mean, Echo is just always so good.
[00:30:13] This show did not get me to start playing League of Legends, but it did get me to buy an Echo
[00:30:21] spinoff game, Metroidvania style that I have yet to play very much of, but...
[00:30:25] So, I mean, practically got you to play League of Legends?
[00:30:30] No, I wouldn't say that.
[00:30:33] I wouldn't say that.
[00:30:34] For Vi and Kate, I really liked the line that Vi had where she's like, I'm the dirt under
[00:30:39] your fingernails.
[00:30:40] I thought that that was a...
[00:30:43] Not indicative of a healthy relationship, but very...
[00:30:48] A good summary of their relationship.
[00:30:53] Yeah, I mean, I wouldn't say they have a healthy relationship either.
[00:30:56] So, I agree with you there.
[00:31:00] I like their relationship a lot.
[00:31:02] But I definitely...
[00:31:04] I wouldn't call Vi's relationship with anyone in this series healthy, unfortunately.
[00:31:09] Which is sad because I feel like she really deserved some kind of happy ending.
[00:31:14] And all of her relationships are just so complicated and messed up.
[00:31:22] Yeah, I would agree.
[00:31:23] I would agree with you there.
[00:31:26] Yeah, 100%.
[00:31:28] Shut up.
[00:31:29] Richard, what did you think about Vi and Kate's relationship at the end?
[00:31:34] I...
[00:31:36] It was cute, you know?
[00:31:38] But, yeah.
[00:31:40] Definitely not great.
[00:31:42] Do you think that Maddie should have survived and stayed with Kate?
[00:31:46] No.
[00:31:47] I think that Maddie should have died in a way more horrifying and nasty way.
[00:31:52] She deserved every...
[00:31:57] Every bit of hate she's gotten from the community.
[00:32:00] Every bit of hate.
[00:32:01] And honestly, she deserved to go out in a more horrifying way because fucking hell, I did not like her.
[00:32:07] Anyone who stood in the way of Vi and Kate's relationship is op number one.
[00:32:13] Yeah.
[00:32:13] Well, she wasn't even...
[00:32:15] She wasn't even just annoying for that.
[00:32:17] Yeah.
[00:32:17] It was the fact that she came in like a fucking snake after being like, oh my god, Vi, I'm your biggest fan.
[00:32:27] Glazing her in the streets, you know?
[00:32:30] And then had to steal her girlfriend.
[00:32:33] And then tried to shoot Caitlyn.
[00:32:36] Yeah.
[00:32:37] That is crazy.
[00:32:38] And then killed herself of her own volition, so...
[00:32:43] Yeah, you think that was on purpose?
[00:32:44] She knew that Mel's shield was there.
[00:32:47] Yeah.
[00:32:48] That's actually why she hesitated and waited so long to do it.
[00:32:51] She was waiting for Mel to, like, have it set up so that it would arc around perfectly and kill her.
[00:32:56] I mean, Caitlyn was slaying too hard to be shot in the head, so...
[00:33:01] Say that again?
[00:33:01] I've just known Caitlyn was slaying too hard to be shot in the head.
[00:33:06] Damn right.
[00:33:07] Right.
[00:33:08] Exactly.
[00:33:09] Richard, you want to start us off with your, like, interesting moments here for the season?
[00:33:14] I like Timerdinger's instruments, and I like the song he played, honestly.
[00:33:17] It was a fun little moment.
[00:33:19] It's kind of a banger.
[00:33:20] Me and Aaron were actually talking about his instrument.
[00:33:24] Well, like, they looked...
[00:33:25] It looked cool as fuck.
[00:33:27] And then he had, like, the little harmonica, too.
[00:33:29] But, like, the guitar banjo, I guess, is more accurate.
[00:33:34] Yeah, I think it's, like, a banjo.
[00:33:37] It was cool.
[00:33:38] And I like the vibe of it.
[00:33:40] A quick action banjo.
[00:33:40] Well, yeah, I like that it had, like, the...
[00:33:43] That he was like, you know what?
[00:33:44] What would be cooler than a banjo?
[00:33:46] A banjo with a switch.
[00:33:48] I mean, you're practically Heimerdinger in real life, so you should be able to make one of those for us.
[00:33:53] I'm actually not.
[00:33:54] I do what the blueprints tell me to do, and that's it.
[00:34:00] I keep seeing people online saying that he sounds like Noah Kahn when he's singing that song, and I just can't unhear it.
[00:34:09] He just doesn't, though.
[00:34:10] It's, like, high-pitched Noah Kahn.
[00:34:12] I understand where people are going.
[00:34:13] It's like Noah Kahn if it was a different person singing it.
[00:34:17] Like, I don't know what to say.
[00:34:19] I feel like I understand where people are coming from with that one.
[00:34:23] I think it's, like, a similar cadence, maybe.
[00:34:25] Yeah.
[00:34:26] It's very, like, stick season when he's singing that.
[00:34:30] I thought it was interesting, like, Kate and Vi's relationship developing more.
[00:34:33] Obviously, it's not healthy, and no one, like you said earlier, Vi doesn't have healthy relationships, really.
[00:34:42] But it was definitely interesting, and, like, I was shipping it the entire time.
[00:34:48] So, yippee.
[00:34:50] I just wish it happened, maybe a little differently, and it was healthier for both of them.
[00:34:56] But I don't know.
[00:34:58] I don't have much to say on it.
[00:34:59] I'm really not as much a yapper when it comes to Arcane as I am with other stuff.
[00:35:04] This is something that we kind of skipped over with our...
[00:35:08] We are Teresa and...
[00:35:10] Nemo.
[00:35:11] And so we are switched to Shopify.
[00:35:12] The platform, which we used before Shopify, has used regularly updates, which have sometimes
[00:35:17] led to the drive, that the shop didn't work.
[00:35:20] End of this is our Nemo Boards Shop, which is also a good figure.
[00:35:24] And the illustrations on the boards come now much clearer, what is us also important
[00:35:28] and what our brand also makes us out.
[00:35:31] Start your test today for 1€ per month on shopify.de.
[00:35:35] Slash Radio.
[00:35:38] Our episode, or our Act 2 review, but I thought that it was really cool for their relationship
[00:35:45] when it turned out that Caitlyn was on Vi's side during the whole confrontation with Ambessa
[00:35:51] at Victor's Commune.
[00:35:54] Yeah.
[00:35:54] I don't think that we really touched on that, but I thought that that was a good building
[00:35:58] block for their relationship, and it showed that they both still cared about each other
[00:36:02] a lot, even after everything that had happened.
[00:36:04] And it was kind of a nice setup for their relationship.
[00:36:09] Yeah.
[00:36:11] My interesting moments, Mel and Caitlyn's team up, that was just so awesome.
[00:36:17] You know, I, these are two characters that I didn't really expect to see going at, like
[00:36:24] doing a little team up together.
[00:36:28] And I think that Caitlyn's skill as a marksman and Mel's newfound abilities within the arcane
[00:36:37] just really created some interesting visual moments when they were fighting with Ambessa.
[00:36:42] During that fight, she was using a spear, though.
[00:36:46] Was she using a spear instead of her gun?
[00:36:49] Yeah.
[00:36:50] Well, I thought that was really cool then, not her marksmanship.
[00:36:54] Sorry.
[00:36:55] Sorry.
[00:36:56] I felt like the nerd emoji in real life right there.
[00:36:59] Holy shit.
[00:37:01] Don't worry, there was a whole section in the last podcast where you put on a nerd voice
[00:37:05] and played devil's advocate.
[00:37:07] That didn't happen!
[00:37:09] You cut that!
[00:37:10] I did cut that!
[00:37:12] You cut that, motherfucker!
[00:37:13] Why would you cut that?
[00:37:13] Why would you cut that?
[00:37:14] This is like you cutting what Chase said about me.
[00:37:19] Unbelievable.
[00:37:20] Chase has never said anything bad about you, ever.
[00:37:23] Chase said when I talk, he wants to shoot me in the face, and that's fair.
[00:37:29] He's your number one hype man.
[00:37:31] I'm literally always glazing you, bro.
[00:37:33] I don't know what you're on about.
[00:37:35] Yeah.
[00:37:38] The second interesting point that I made note of was, I really thought it was interesting
[00:37:45] that Echo's first words in the series were, give me a few seconds, and then he creates
[00:37:49] a device that literally can give him a few seconds, four seconds to be exact, which I
[00:37:55] won't say anything else about that because I know Chase has a lot to say.
[00:37:58] But I just really love the detail that the writers put into this.
[00:38:02] Since Echo was already a character in League of Legends before all of Arcane, I feel like
[00:38:08] that give me a few seconds line was definitely intentional, but just seeing his character come
[00:38:14] full circle was awesome.
[00:38:17] Yeah.
[00:38:20] Finally, Savika being on the council, this is one that's a little...
[00:38:28] This is a bittersweet moment for the end.
[00:38:31] It felt like...
[00:38:32] Not felt like.
[00:38:33] It definitely is more to placate Zahn instead of giving them full independence.
[00:38:39] And you can see that in the way the other counselors look at her.
[00:38:42] She's still an outsider to them, and they look at her with almost disgust on their faces when
[00:38:49] they see her walking into the council chamber.
[00:38:52] You can feel that not a lot has changed and that the people from Piltover don't look at
[00:38:57] the people from Zahn any differently after all of the events that have happened.
[00:39:05] But yeah, that's all I had for my interesting moments.
[00:39:09] Right.
[00:39:10] Yeah.
[00:39:11] Of course it is.
[00:39:17] Chase, you want to take us into your interesting moments?
[00:39:20] Yeah.
[00:39:22] Yeah.
[00:39:22] Um...
[00:39:22] The first interesting moment, or both of my interesting moments I took down, um...
[00:39:29] Were about the echo and powder in the alternate universe.
[00:39:36] Um...
[00:39:40] Sorry, Richard is fucking with the outline right now.
[00:39:44] I hope everyone...
[00:39:44] It's distracting.
[00:39:47] Um...
[00:39:48] Every time Richard exists, um...
[00:39:52] I think about putting him in a hydraulic press.
[00:39:55] Yeah.
[00:39:58] Alright, alright.
[00:39:58] You're not creating gold like that again.
[00:40:00] That shit...
[00:40:01] Wait.
[00:40:02] Why is that actually fire?
[00:40:04] Why is that fire?
[00:40:05] Oh my god.
[00:40:07] You're so mad.
[00:40:08] Why are you rambling right now?
[00:40:10] Sorry.
[00:40:11] I'm actually a radioactive rambler.
[00:40:13] Yeah, well you smell radioactive for sure.
[00:40:16] You look radioactive.
[00:40:18] But that beanie is fire.
[00:40:20] Or not beanie.
[00:40:21] That hat is fire.
[00:40:23] Um...
[00:40:23] So the first interesting moment I took down was the...
[00:40:28] The moment when powder and echo in the alternate universe...
[00:40:32] The moment timeline...
[00:40:33] Are about to kiss.
[00:40:35] And echo's like...
[00:40:37] Can we pretend like it's our first time?
[00:40:39] And I think that's so interesting.
[00:40:43] Because...
[00:40:44] Clearly echo is having reservations.
[00:40:48] And is feeling uncomfortable.
[00:40:49] Because up until this point...
[00:40:53] Um...
[00:40:53] Jinx is still like his enemy at this time.
[00:40:57] Like they had...
[00:40:58] I think the last time him and Jinx had interacted...
[00:41:01] Uh...
[00:41:02] Was the fight on the bridge where she almost kills him.
[00:41:07] Um...
[00:41:09] And it's kind of...
[00:41:11] Like letting himself fall back in love with powder...
[00:41:15] Is just such an interesting like...
[00:41:17] Thing to watch unfold with this episode.
[00:41:21] I think it's a whole episode, right?
[00:41:22] With echo and powder?
[00:41:24] Um...
[00:41:25] It's all of episode...
[00:41:27] I believe...
[00:41:27] Seven.
[00:41:28] Seven.
[00:41:29] Oh.
[00:41:29] Really?
[00:41:29] One of us is lying and one of us isn't.
[00:41:33] Alright.
[00:41:34] Chase, keep doing your points...
[00:41:36] And I'll do research.
[00:41:39] Um...
[00:41:40] Just...
[00:41:41] I don't know.
[00:41:41] Just like a great character to watch.
[00:41:44] Because I mean...
[00:41:44] Seeing powder too.
[00:41:47] Like...
[00:41:47] Powder powder.
[00:41:49] Unaffected.
[00:41:51] By...
[00:41:51] Um...
[00:41:52] Like...
[00:41:59] Stable version...
[00:42:01] Of that character on screen.
[00:42:03] Like an adult mentally stable version.
[00:42:05] And to see that like...
[00:42:07] The genius inventor part of...
[00:42:11] Powder...
[00:42:12] Slash...
[00:42:13] Jinx...
[00:42:14] Is like...
[00:42:15] A like core part of that character.
[00:42:18] And...
[00:42:18] And I think it's kind of hinted at too that...
[00:42:21] Jinx...
[00:42:21] Slash...
[00:42:22] Powder...
[00:42:24] Um...
[00:42:25] Is actually like...
[00:42:27] A better inventor than...
[00:42:30] Echo and Heimerdinger.
[00:42:31] Because they couldn't do it without her.
[00:42:34] She...
[00:42:34] She was like...
[00:42:35] Basically the one that made the breakthrough on the...
[00:42:39] The...
[00:42:40] The...
[00:42:40] Fucking...
[00:42:41] Time machine thing.
[00:42:42] That they made.
[00:42:43] So I thought that was really cool.
[00:42:45] And then of course...
[00:42:47] For interesting moments...
[00:42:48] Richard...
[00:42:48] Once again...
[00:42:49] These two motherfuckers trying to steal my thunder.
[00:42:52] Um...
[00:42:53] I don't know...
[00:42:54] I feel like we'd need a public hanging for these two.
[00:42:57] It's getting out of hand.
[00:43:00] Um...
[00:43:00] Four frames a second...
[00:43:02] Was just...
[00:43:03] I mean...
[00:43:04] Is that not just so beautiful on screen to watch?
[00:43:09] Come on like...
[00:43:10] It is.
[00:43:11] You should explain...
[00:43:13] Like the...
[00:43:14] The four frames a second thing for anyone who isn't aware of that.
[00:43:18] Okay.
[00:43:19] So...
[00:43:19] When...
[00:43:20] Echo and Powder Dance...
[00:43:23] Before...
[00:43:24] Echo gets sent back to the...
[00:43:26] Correct...
[00:43:27] His correct timeline.
[00:43:29] Um...
[00:43:30] They show...
[00:43:31] Them dancing...
[00:43:33] In four frames a second.
[00:43:36] Um...
[00:43:36] Which relates to...
[00:43:38] How Echo can travel four frames backwards.
[00:43:41] And how Echo...
[00:43:42] At that time knows he's about to leave this universe.
[00:43:47] Which is basically his ideal world.
[00:43:49] Um...
[00:43:50] Except for the fact that Vi's dead.
[00:43:52] But other than that...
[00:43:53] Like it's his ideal world.
[00:43:55] Um...
[00:43:57] And he's trying to savor all of this time that he can...
[00:44:02] Here...
[00:44:04] Especially with this version of Powder.
[00:44:08] Um...
[00:44:08] Before he goes back.
[00:44:11] So I just...
[00:44:11] Like it's such like a bittersweet moment.
[00:44:14] Um...
[00:44:15] Which is truly just...
[00:44:17] Great to watch on screen.
[00:44:19] And I think they need to release that extra 60 minutes of...
[00:44:25] Show that they have between Echo and Jinx.
[00:44:30] Release the extra four hours of Loras content that they cut from our screens.
[00:44:36] You know what?
[00:44:37] They probably have four hours of content like where Seb is just talking.
[00:44:45] Before we move on to the art.
[00:44:47] I did want to touch on one thing that you said in your little section about Jinx.
[00:44:52] Which was...
[00:44:53] That Jinx is a better inventor than both Heimerdinger and Echo.
[00:44:58] And I think that that comes from the fact that...
[00:45:01] Jinx or Powder.
[00:45:02] Whichever form of this character we find her in.
[00:45:06] She has this willingness and this ability to look outside the box.
[00:45:10] Of what people think is possible.
[00:45:12] Or what people think is normal.
[00:45:13] And look for really creative solutions.
[00:45:16] And I think that that's her strength as an inventor.
[00:45:18] Is her creativity that...
[00:45:20] I mean, let's be frank.
[00:45:21] Heimerdinger is old and stuck in his boxes.
[00:45:24] And Echo...
[00:45:26] Hasn't always had the most resources to work with.
[00:45:29] And maybe is looking at things from kind of a narrow view.
[00:45:33] But Powder slash Jinx is always looking at things with a unique perspective.
[00:45:38] So I think that's cool.
[00:45:39] And we even see Jinx in the main timeline is able to figure out the Hextech gems with just a few notes from Jace's lab.
[00:45:49] So that's like also another thing hinting at how genius she is.
[00:45:54] Yeah.
[00:45:55] You know what else?
[00:45:56] Jace performs Victor erasure.
[00:45:58] Or someone performs Victor erasure on all of the Hextech documents.
[00:46:02] Yeah.
[00:46:03] Because in the aftermath, when they're looking at the Hextech stuff.
[00:46:06] Yeah, that's true.
[00:46:08] When they're looking at the Hextech documents in the aftermath, Victor's name is off of all of it.
[00:46:14] So poor guy had his name removed from his life's work.
[00:46:17] The only reason why I say that Jace might have been involved is because I don't know if Victor's name was on it or not before Jace actually perished and entered the friendship realm.
[00:46:26] I feel like we see that Jace tries to give Victor his flowers when he can.
[00:46:32] He does.
[00:46:33] He does.
[00:46:35] But without further ado, Chase, I'm interested to hear your art moments.
[00:46:41] So the first one I put was Jace and Victor's friendship realm.
[00:46:47] This is when Victor basically like slurps Jace up into the...
[00:46:55] Sorry, I'll rephrase that.
[00:46:58] Yeah, please do.
[00:47:01] This is when Victor like puts his like fingers on Jace's head and it takes him into the like astral like world that we always see Jace.
[00:47:15] And what's her name again?
[00:47:16] I forgot.
[00:47:18] I think it's Cassandra.
[00:47:20] No.
[00:47:21] Cassandra Bowman.
[00:47:23] Sorry.
[00:47:25] What?
[00:47:26] What?
[00:47:28] What am I missing here?
[00:47:30] Don't worry about it.
[00:47:31] And his lab like assistant that got one tapped by the...
[00:47:37] It's Skye.
[00:47:38] I was just messing with you.
[00:47:40] That's who it was.
[00:47:41] I mean, she does like disappear in like act two, I think.
[00:47:48] But we always saw them in that realm.
[00:47:51] But yeah, when he takes Jace in there, I thought just how that was animated was so just good looking.
[00:48:00] The...
[00:48:00] Their bodies like being like the like milky white and it's just their faces.
[00:48:06] And when Victor's like face is like the mask and then it slowly like becomes his real face again.
[00:48:14] That was so awesome.
[00:48:18] Yeah.
[00:48:19] Yeah.
[00:48:20] Yeah.
[00:48:20] The way that they visualized the friendship realm was...
[00:48:24] I don't know what else to call it.
[00:48:25] I'm just going to keep calling it the friendship realm.
[00:48:27] I like that you've coined that term.
[00:48:33] But I thought that they did a great job with that.
[00:48:36] I think that one of my favorite moments that takes place inside this friendship realm is when...
[00:48:40] It is Victor and Skye.
[00:48:43] And Skye is sort of disappearing.
[00:48:46] And Victor goes, I'll miss our talks.
[00:48:49] And she's like, no, you won't.
[00:48:51] I feel like that was kind of like the last represent...
[00:48:55] Like his humanity like finally fully leaving him at that point.
[00:49:00] Yeah.
[00:49:00] She was almost his conscience throughout the entire time that he was doing everything.
[00:49:04] And when she finally disappears, he loses any semblance of trying to do what the audience could see as the right thing.
[00:49:14] He certainly believes he's doing the right thing.
[00:49:16] But we no longer believe that he has pure intentions anymore.
[00:49:21] I have a question for you.
[00:49:22] Yeah, go for it.
[00:49:23] Why did you say Cassandra?
[00:49:26] Why did I say Cassandra?
[00:49:28] Yeah.
[00:49:28] Huh?
[00:49:29] Um...
[00:49:30] I can't lie.
[00:49:31] For half a second, I did think that was her name.
[00:49:36] Okay.
[00:49:37] Sorry.
[00:49:38] I just wanted to know the plan behind your sabotage.
[00:49:42] Um...
[00:49:43] No.
[00:49:43] For the next art moment that I wrote down was...
[00:49:46] The atmosphere of the timeline Jace was sent to.
[00:49:50] I thought they did such a good job of like portraying a ruined city.
[00:49:58] Um...
[00:49:59] Like...
[00:50:00] I thought it was just so well drawn.
[00:50:04] It was...
[00:50:05] Like everywhere you looked, it's exactly what I imagine...
[00:50:10] Um...
[00:50:11] Like a city to look like after...
[00:50:14] Like, I don't know, like...
[00:50:15] A hundred years of...
[00:50:18] No human interaction with it.
[00:50:20] And like harsh...
[00:50:22] Um...
[00:50:23] Weather conditions.
[00:50:25] I don't know if...
[00:50:27] I think you've both seen it.
[00:50:29] It reminds me a lot of...
[00:50:31] The way that they...
[00:50:33] Visualized the ruined cities in The Last of Us.
[00:50:36] Yes.
[00:50:37] Yes.
[00:50:38] Exactly.
[00:50:38] I really got heavy Last of Us vibes.
[00:50:42] Which...
[00:50:42] That show is so damn good.
[00:50:44] And the game is so good.
[00:50:45] I don't want to just say the show because the game came first.
[00:50:48] But...
[00:50:48] The Walking Simulator?
[00:50:51] Don't you dare.
[00:50:52] That was Death Stranding, idiot.
[00:50:54] I'm kidding.
[00:50:54] I'm kidding.
[00:50:56] That's a good game and you know it, idiot.
[00:50:58] They both are.
[00:50:59] Yeah.
[00:51:01] Death Stranding?
[00:51:02] Death Stranding is a decent game.
[00:51:04] It's just a lot closer to Walking Simulator.
[00:51:06] Okay.
[00:51:07] Norman Reedus.
[00:51:09] Uh...
[00:51:10] Okay.
[00:51:10] ...into my...
[00:51:13] Art moments.
[00:51:14] Sorry.
[00:51:15] Norman Reedus.
[00:51:16] Daryl Dixon.
[00:51:18] Or Sam Porter Bridges.
[00:51:20] Go carry around a baby in a tank.
[00:51:23] I will.
[00:51:24] I will.
[00:51:25] I love stealing babies and carrying them around in a tank.
[00:51:28] Go run around shooting zombies with your crossbow.
[00:51:32] Maybe I will.
[00:51:34] Coral.
[00:51:37] Uh...
[00:51:37] My...
[00:51:38] The first art moment that I took note of was Mel's presence taking over the sort of black
[00:51:43] rose dimension that her mother gets trapped in.
[00:51:46] I thought that that was so cool.
[00:51:49] Uh...
[00:51:49] When she says, I see your face deceiver and immediately starts to take over everything.
[00:51:55] I think that that's a great way of showing the audience not only Mel's intelligence and ability to spot a rat from a mile away, but also it shows Mel's innate power.
[00:52:12] Like, she's a really powerful arcane user.
[00:52:15] And the fact that she was able to overtake this black rose sorceress who has been screwing with her family for probably decades at this point.
[00:52:24] It just goes to show how truly powerful she is.
[00:52:28] Yeah.
[00:52:29] You know what's interesting about the black rose is there's actually many legends in the U of Legends that are part of the black rose.
[00:52:37] Wait.
[00:52:39] Oh, really?
[00:52:40] Is there a league of them that's part of it?
[00:52:43] That'd be crazy, wouldn't it?
[00:52:45] That's $80.
[00:52:46] What are we?
[00:52:47] Some kind of league of legends?
[00:52:55] Well, a few forced laughs later and here we are.
[00:52:58] A little distorted bits of Piltover.
[00:53:01] Holy shit.
[00:53:02] I just read A as if it was an actual word in the outline.
[00:53:06] It wasn't a marker for my name.
[00:53:11] Jesus Christ.
[00:53:13] It's Betty Bye time for you.
[00:53:16] No, he has to finish the book tonight.
[00:53:18] I swear to God.
[00:53:19] I probably will finish the book tonight as I'm falling asleep.
[00:53:22] Are you guys recording on Wednesday anyways?
[00:53:25] We're so far behind.
[00:53:27] We're not even on the second book yet and that's what I'm about to finish.
[00:53:29] Oh my gosh.
[00:53:31] Yeah, Aaron's behind though.
[00:53:32] Aaron's got to finish them all.
[00:53:35] Especially given how we're going to start restructuring it.
[00:53:40] Yeah.
[00:53:42] Ultimately, I'd like you to be like half a book ahead at least.
[00:53:45] I will.
[00:53:46] I will be.
[00:53:48] But the second art moment that I took note of after Mel's little black rose dimension foray was
[00:53:55] the little distorted bits of Piltover.
[00:53:58] This ties into Chase's art moment of the atmosphere in Jace's dimension.
[00:54:02] But the bits of Piltover that remain distorted after Victor's defeat, they look exactly like
[00:54:08] Jace's hell reality.
[00:54:09] And I thought that that was a really cool detail that they decided to leave in that even though
[00:54:15] Victor's plan didn't succeed, he still had an impact in the short time that he was around.
[00:54:21] And you can see just how fast he would have turned the world into that hellscape.
[00:54:26] Right.
[00:54:27] Like there's scars from his attempt.
[00:54:30] Exactly.
[00:54:30] I thought that that was great detail.
[00:54:32] They could have easily not done that and had the story still make perfect sense.
[00:54:37] But the animators, the writers, everyone on this team, they go the extra mile to make
[00:54:44] sure that this world feels real.
[00:54:46] And I just can't appreciate that enough.
[00:54:50] So yeah, Richard, take it away, buddy.
[00:54:53] Sounds like you can appreciate enough, actually, considering you don't even have it in your
[00:54:57] top three shows this year.
[00:54:59] There were just too many good shows that came out.
[00:55:02] I'm sorry.
[00:55:03] You're not.
[00:55:04] Yeah, whatever, Aaron.
[00:55:05] Stop lying.
[00:55:08] Okay.
[00:55:09] Anyways.
[00:55:09] Yeah.
[00:55:10] I'll shut up now.
[00:55:12] Actually, I won't.
[00:55:13] I have to ramble.
[00:55:15] So, and I know I didn't type this out.
[00:55:17] Well, I should have maybe expanded upon it, but that's why I'm talking about it, actually.
[00:55:22] Any animation related, like magical shit, just in general, as a whole, was cool.
[00:55:27] The friendship realm was cool.
[00:55:29] The black rose dimension, that shit was cool.
[00:55:33] The different timelines were cool.
[00:56:06] Obviously, I don't know.
[00:56:08] I don't know.
[00:56:13] I don't know.
[00:56:15] I don't know.
[00:56:30] Now that we've heard all of our art moments, we should probably start wrapping up and getting
[00:56:35] into our final thoughts, how we felt about the season.
[00:56:38] And to start us off, Richard, I'd like you to do the honors of giving your final impressions
[00:56:45] on this show.
[00:56:46] That's crazy, because honor is dead.
[00:56:49] But I'll see what I can do.
[00:56:50] Your honor remains.
[00:56:51] My honor does remain, like my goat, Cassie Salbolona.
[00:56:55] But after seeing it through to the end, I could say that this show is a solid like 9.6.
[00:57:02] And for me, I feel like objectively, it's a higher rating.
[00:57:05] I'm just not as interested in League of Legends, so that's why I docked it a little more than
[00:57:10] I should have, and that was unfair.
[00:57:13] Being objective, it is a 9.8, at least.
[00:57:16] Bro is actually just...
[00:57:18] I am stealing...
[00:57:20] No, no, no.
[00:57:21] You're legitimately right.
[00:57:22] I'm so sorry that I'm agreeing with your point and also spoiling it.
[00:57:25] Sorry, spoiler alert for Chase's section.
[00:57:29] But they did tie most plot lines up so well.
[00:57:32] It was really well done.
[00:57:33] The characters felt very real and developed.
[00:57:34] I don't have interest in playing League of Legends.
[00:57:37] Sorry, Chase.
[00:57:38] But I do have interest in whatever other shows and projects Riot has coming out in the future.
[00:57:43] I think they said that they had at least one more show planned, right?
[00:57:48] They have three areas planned.
[00:57:52] Okay, that's awesome, and I'm super hyped for those.
[00:57:55] A minimum of one more show.
[00:57:57] Okay.
[00:57:58] Yeah, I'm super excited for that, then.
[00:58:01] I just don't have any interest in League, but I'm glad that I don't...
[00:58:05] It's not like...
[00:58:07] I'm glad that I didn't have to play League of Legends to understand it, you know?
[00:58:12] Yeah, I think that's one of the great things about Arcane is that you don't have to know
[00:58:17] anything about League of Legends to enjoy the series.
[00:58:21] I would say it's similar to Fallout, honestly.
[00:58:26] Like, Fallout...
[00:58:27] I feel like the show explains itself pretty well.
[00:58:30] Yeah, I had that same exact experience.
[00:58:30] I had, like, the reverse experience.
[00:58:33] I had never played any Fallout game ever.
[00:58:37] Like, I knew a little bit about Fallout, but nothing really that crazy.
[00:58:42] And I watched the show, and I loved it, I think, just as much as everyone else.
[00:58:47] Yeah, and I think we're all excited to cover...
[00:58:49] Oh, sorry.
[00:58:50] No, go ahead.
[00:58:51] Sorry.
[00:58:52] We're definitely excited to cover Season 2.
[00:58:54] Well, you're not invited to that.
[00:58:56] I'm not?
[00:58:57] I mean, no, if you guys wanted to keep it as a tradition, I'd be fine.
[00:59:00] I'm kidding.
[00:59:01] We're just joking.
[00:59:02] Yeah, fuck you, Chase.
[00:59:04] You know what?
[00:59:04] Maybe you aren't invited.
[00:59:06] Well, you're invited to Red Rising.
[00:59:07] The problem is you don't read, because no one ever taught you how to read.
[00:59:10] Exactly.
[00:59:12] Anyways, what I was going to say...
[00:59:15] What I was going to say was that...
[00:59:18] I think that it's so funny that video game adaptations have such a reputation, and rightfully so, for being...
[00:59:28] There's no nice way to put it, of being complete shit.
[00:59:31] Dog shit.
[00:59:31] Yeah.
[00:59:32] Yeah.
[00:59:33] And this year...
[00:59:34] Borderlands, we're looking at you.
[00:59:35] Yeah.
[00:59:36] This year, 2024, we got two of the best video game adaptations.
[00:59:42] Not even two of the best...
[00:59:44] Well, I mean, Arken Season 1 was like 2022, I believe.
[00:59:49] Right.
[00:59:50] Right.
[00:59:51] But, you know, with Season 2...
[00:59:53] They already had their spotlight, I would say.
[00:59:57] They did.
[00:59:57] But it's still impressive that we were able to get just such a fantastic bunch of video game related shows.
[01:00:07] And hopefully this trend can continue, because there's so many good stories that can be told from these universes.
[01:00:14] And when studios kind of make these cash grab awful projects that you can tell zero effort and zero passion went into them, it just ruins the whole idea.
[01:00:30] It makes people who play video games feel very disenfranchised about the stories that they love.
[01:00:37] And it also kind of ruins other people's perceptions.
[01:00:40] So, I think Fallout and Arcane are starting to bring people back around.
[01:00:45] And I'm really appreciative of that.
[01:00:47] So, props and keep on going.
[01:00:51] Yeah.
[01:00:53] The last thing I really had to say...
[01:00:55] Well, two things I had to say.
[01:00:56] The soundtrack...
[01:00:58] They understood what they needed.
[01:00:59] I mean, the soundtrack was beautiful.
[01:01:02] And I don't know why I wrote this game.
[01:01:03] But for the show, it was beautiful.
[01:01:06] I really liked, too, the song that played during Echo and Jinx's Dance.
[01:01:12] Like, the French song.
[01:01:14] I think it was French.
[01:01:15] Yeah, it's on, like, three of my playlists now.
[01:01:17] That shit is actually so fire.
[01:01:20] Yeah, it's in my head for sure.
[01:01:23] So, like, there was that.
[01:01:24] There was obviously the amazing animation.
[01:01:27] And the conclusion was a good ending.
[01:01:29] And honestly, I expected it would be a bit sadder than it was.
[01:01:34] Granted, I also, of course, believe that Jinx is alive.
[01:01:39] So, I think if I didn't believe in that, then it would be a sadder ending.
[01:01:43] But she's alive.
[01:01:44] I believe it.
[01:01:45] A hundred percent.
[01:01:46] Yeah.
[01:01:47] I don't think we got to talk about this because you were out for the episode.
[01:01:53] But I really liked the Heaviest the Crown Arcane rendition.
[01:01:58] Like, I went and listened to the actual song because you told me to.
[01:02:01] And I liked it.
[01:02:03] But I thought the Arcane one was actually, like, really good.
[01:02:07] I would consider the Arcane one as good.
[01:02:10] I mean, I obviously prefer that type of music because I'm silly.
[01:02:14] Yeah.
[01:02:14] Silly.
[01:02:15] But, yeah.
[01:02:16] I think that they were both fantastic versions.
[01:02:17] And I think that I'm really happy that they actually re-recorded the song in full instead of just doing, like...
[01:02:25] Instead of just doing a slower cover.
[01:02:27] Or a slower, like...
[01:02:31] Instrumental bit without remastering the vocals.
[01:02:34] But then again, I don't think that would be possible.
[01:02:37] I don't know.
[01:02:37] I'm just yapping at this point.
[01:02:39] Someone tell me to shut up.
[01:02:41] Shut up.
[01:02:42] All right.
[01:02:43] We'll go on to my little paragraph that I wrote.
[01:02:47] Um, I said...
[01:03:17] I think that even without a lot of concrete answers at the end of the series, I still feel so fulfilled with its ending.
[01:03:25] I think that the show does a good job of letting the viewer be comfortable with a more realistic ending to a story where not everyone gets a happy ending.
[01:03:34] And not everyone that did awful things gets punished for them.
[01:03:38] Overall, there's so little to complain about and so much to marvel about with Arcane.
[01:03:44] All I can say is this truly does feel like a modern day masterpiece.
[01:03:49] I've...
[01:03:50] Um...
[01:03:50] Going back to what I said about the being comfortable with not everyone getting punished.
[01:03:56] I think, like...
[01:03:57] I was kind of talking about Caitlyn here.
[01:04:00] I think, like, Caitlyn's, like, ending is kind of a more realistic ending to things.
[01:04:07] Um...
[01:04:07] Like, if something like this...
[01:04:10] I mean, obviously it would never happen in real life because there's just so much fantasy shit.
[01:04:17] But you know what I mean.
[01:04:17] Like, like, we see, like, world leaders and, like, very powerful people do shitty things all the time and get away with it all the time.
[01:04:27] So I think, like, it's not so unrealistic for, like, Caitlyn to be able to just have her happy ending.
[01:04:34] Obviously we don't want Caitlyn to have her perfect ending, but she gets one.
[01:04:41] Um...
[01:04:42] Um...
[01:04:43] And I kind of think that, like...
[01:04:45] Um...
[01:04:46] It's okay we don't get the exact answer to everyone's ending in the show.
[01:04:53] I like that they've left some things open to interpretation and maybe we'll see more about those endings in the other spinoffs.
[01:05:05] I don't know.
[01:05:08] But yeah.
[01:05:09] That's fine.
[01:05:10] Yeah.
[01:05:12] Um...
[01:05:12] I guess that I will take up the Olympic torch here and...
[01:05:17] First of all, as much as it pains me...
[01:05:22] Hold on.
[01:05:22] Chase, I think we're gonna cut the episode right there, right?
[01:05:26] Yeah, I don't wanna hear Aaron just fuckin' yip and yap about all the other shows he liked more than Arkane.
[01:05:32] Yeah, that's fair.
[01:05:33] Alright, it's done.
[01:05:34] Alright, we're done.
[01:05:35] Never mind, I was gonna offer a formal apology for doubting your recommendation, Chase, but now, guess what?
[01:05:41] I'm not gonna do it.
[01:05:42] No, I want that apology now.
[01:05:45] No, you...
[01:05:46] Oh, I just smacked my mic on accident.
[01:05:50] You squandered your chance with your...
[01:05:54] Mutiny?
[01:05:54] Legacy.
[01:05:55] Yeah.
[01:05:56] So, I'll just go into my pre-prepared...
[01:05:59] No, I want my apology now.
[01:06:03] Don't...
[01:06:04] Don't...
[01:06:04] Don't let him have it, Aaron.
[01:06:05] Do not let him have it.
[01:06:07] No, I don't actually want my apology, but I want you to apologize to all the viewers that had already seen Arkane and had already enjoyed Season 1 of Arkane and were thinking in their heads that maybe we should cover it while you're over here in your dorm room telling me,
[01:06:24] I'm gonna watch every episode of the news first.
[01:06:31] Listeners, I am very sorry to any Arkane fans out there who might have tried to tell me beforehand that the show was really good.
[01:06:43] You were right.
[01:06:44] Uh, Chase, however, is exempt from this apology, so...
[01:06:49] He's not a part of this.
[01:06:50] But anyone else out there who liked Arkane, I apologize for not understanding that this one was truly a 10 out of 10 banger.
[01:07:00] But, with that being said, I think that with 2024 coming to a close, I think that this is my favorite year for television.
[01:07:08] Full stop.
[01:07:09] Penguin, House of the Dragon, Rings of Power, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Fallout, Arkane.
[01:07:14] It's been banger after banger after banger.
[01:07:17] And it really is...
[01:07:20] Them giving us this animated gem, it's the cherry on top.
[01:07:23] I think that animated shows rarely get the love that they deserve, and this show really just showcases why animation naysayers are missing out.
[01:07:32] I think the story, the characters, the art direction, the music, which the music I'm counting both the formal score and the popular songs that are in this.
[01:07:40] I think the complex messages in this show as well.
[01:07:43] It all just comes together to make one of the greatest animated shows of all time in my mind.
[01:07:51] I do think that they did the right thing by ending this after two seasons and moving on to some new stories.
[01:07:58] They had a story to tell.
[01:08:00] Excuse me.
[01:08:01] They had a story to tell.
[01:08:02] They told it.
[01:08:03] And now we can move on to other stories in this world.
[01:08:06] They didn't carry it on for so long that we got sick of the characters in the setting.
[01:08:10] And I'm really looking forward to seeing a few of our arcane characters that we've come to know and love in future projects.
[01:08:16] So I'm just happy that most of our significant characters had pretty conclusive endings.
[01:08:22] Solid nine and a half hex cores out of ten.
[01:08:26] All right.
[01:08:27] I'll take us into the outro.
[01:08:30] We all had a great time covering arcane and hoped you enjoyed our thoughts.
[01:08:35] And thank you for joining us.
[01:08:38] And I think that's all we have for today.
[01:08:40] So we hope you guys tune in again for whatever we're covering next.
[01:08:46] Yeah.
[01:08:47] Yeah.
[01:08:48] And before we let you guys go, I wanted to give a quick shout out to all of the other podcasts in the network.
[01:08:54] First, to the ones who make all of this possible, our parent podcast, The Lorehounds.
[01:08:58] They've got a lot of great coverage coming out right now surrounding Dune Prophecy.
[01:09:02] They just did a two-parter on the new season of Pachinko, which is apparently really good.
[01:09:09] I've had it on my list for a while, but I haven't gotten around to it yet.
[01:09:12] But also in the network are excellent podcasts like Wool Shift Dust, the Star Wars Canon Timeline podcast, Rings and Rituals, Properly Howard Movie Review, The Severance Podcast, and of course, our newest affiliate, Nevermind the Music.
[01:09:26] Links to all of these shows and info on how to get a hold of us, as well as Patreon info.
[01:09:32] That's all going to be in the show notes.
[01:09:34] So thank you all for listening, and we hope to see you guys in the next Arcane-related League of Legends.
[01:09:41] Whatever comes next, we hope to see you then.
[01:09:44] So thank you for listening.
[01:09:46] When are we playing League of Legends and we're all playing Arcane characters?
[01:10:14] Never, but when are we playing The Forest again for RealReal?
[01:10:19] We'll play The Forest right after we do a League of Legends livestream on the Patreon.
[01:10:24] Yeah, we should make that for like $300.
[01:10:29] It would take at least $5,000 for me to even download League of Legends.
[01:10:33] Oh, shut up, bro.
[01:10:35] Shut up.
[01:10:36] It would take me $5,000 to download a 13 gigabyte free game and play it for 45 minutes with my friends.
[01:10:44] You're such a loser.
[01:10:46] Yeah.
