00:18 --> 00:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to Radioactive Ramblings where we are back to talk about what matters most in this world.
00:24 --> 00:32 [SPEAKER_00]: My name is Aaron and today I am joined by the one the only Richard.
00:34 --> 00:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for that introduction, Aaron.
00:37 --> 00:37 [SPEAKER_01]: How are you doing today?
00:37 --> 00:39 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing wonderful.
00:39 --> 00:40 [SPEAKER_01]: How are you doing today?
00:40 --> 00:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Doing fantastic.
00:41 --> 00:46 [SPEAKER_01]: We get to talk about fallout season two episode one, the innovator.
00:47 --> 00:48 [SPEAKER_00]: That is correct.
00:48 --> 01:01 [SPEAKER_00]: And I've seen a lot of people online calling this episode by the wrong name because of a little funky thing that they did, which was not super clear, but we'll get into that
01:01 --> 01:17 [SPEAKER_00]: season 2 episode 1 we are so back and if you didn't catch our preview episode and you want a little bit of a trailer breakdown get some of the references from that go back take a little listen um it wasn't too long of an episode just just an hour long
01:18 --> 01:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and as per usual, right before recording, he's like, ah, this will be a short one.
01:23 --> 01:24 [SPEAKER_01]: This will be a short one, for sure.
01:25 --> 01:26 [SPEAKER_01]: It's never a short one.
01:26 --> 01:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I think I say that every single time.
01:28 --> 01:35 [SPEAKER_01]: I think you said that on our red rising wrap up, and that one was like, almost two hours.
01:38 --> 01:45 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, sometimes it just gets away from us, doesn't it?
01:47 --> 01:48 [SPEAKER_00]: radio actively.
01:48 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_00]: And it's not of no way of ramblings.
01:53 --> 01:58 [SPEAKER_00]: We have a lot of ways that you can get a hold of us if you want to radioactive rambal with us.
01:58 --> 02:01 [SPEAKER_00]: So Richard, this is how hard we're going to get a hold of us.
02:01 --> 02:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, there's just so many ways.
02:04 --> 02:08 [SPEAKER_01]: First off, we got our email, radioactiveethalorehons.com.
02:08 --> 02:13 [SPEAKER_01]: We have a channel set up for radioactive ramblings within the lower-hons discord server.
02:13 --> 02:19 [SPEAKER_01]: You can send us a message, chat about the show, tell us that Chase needs to be on more episodes because we miss that guy.
02:19 --> 02:20 [SPEAKER_01]: We don't need to.
02:21 --> 02:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Chase, come home, we miss you.
02:22 --> 02:24 [SPEAKER_01]: The kids miss you.
02:24 --> 02:25 [SPEAKER_01]: kids.
02:27 --> 02:37 [SPEAKER_01]: But we also have a contact for an or you could leave us a voicemail at the lorhons.com and consider giving us follow on blue sky at radioactive 141.
02:37 --> 02:45 [SPEAKER_01]: And we would also appreciate pretty please rating on Apple Podcasts Spotify.
02:45 --> 02:51 [SPEAKER_01]: There's a YouTube option, you know, whatever you guys listen to our podcast on,
02:51 --> 02:58 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, it helps other listeners like yourselves find us and expand the community and all that, so we would appreciate that.
02:58 --> 02:59 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
02:59 --> 03:08 [SPEAKER_00]: I forgot to include this in our little blurb for today, but we did get a fallout thread up in the Lohund's Discord server.
03:08 --> 03:11 [SPEAKER_00]: So there is episode discussion in there.
03:11 --> 03:17 [SPEAKER_00]: So there's a general chat where you can just post your quick thoughts about the show, what you thought about last season, stuff like that.
03:18 --> 03:19 [SPEAKER_00]: That one is spoiler free.
03:19 --> 03:25 [SPEAKER_00]: And then there are the episode by episode full spoiler chats where you can say whatever you want.
03:25 --> 03:30 [SPEAKER_00]: whenever you want, as long as it is appropriate for the community, of course.
03:31 --> 03:38 [SPEAKER_00]: But anything that you would like to say about the follow-up show as long as you're up to that episode is great.
03:38 --> 03:42 [SPEAKER_00]: So we would love to have you as part of the discussion because it's getting lively in there.
03:42 --> 03:43 [SPEAKER_00]: There are people chatting.
03:43 --> 03:45 [SPEAKER_00]: I just made some emojis for it.
03:45 --> 03:45 [SPEAKER_00]: I see that.
03:45 --> 03:50 [SPEAKER_00]: I haven't been active in it, but like I'm pulling this up as you're talking about it.
03:51 --> 04:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Good friend of the community sub-zero requested a little emoji of the fault of the Valkoy, excuse me, and I added a few in there.
04:02 --> 04:07 [SPEAKER_00]: So I might add a couple more emojis as the season goes on and I like these.
04:08 --> 04:10 [SPEAKER_00]: I especially am a fan of the NerdRage one.
04:10 --> 04:23 [SPEAKER_00]: I thought that was kind of... Oh, for sure, a fun one to do, which if you're just a watcher of the show, NerdRage is a perk that you get in fallout where...
04:23 --> 04:31 [SPEAKER_00]: it's exactly what it sounds like you can have a moment of nerd rage where you get really strong and you get a little bit better at killing things.
04:31 --> 04:33 [SPEAKER_00]: So there you go.
04:33 --> 04:42 [SPEAKER_01]: I get that whenever I'm at work and I'm reading, you know, whatever book and I'm one of my favorite characters that characters that I just go into a full-on nerd rage.
04:43 --> 04:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
04:43 --> 04:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Let's be melt the world, the metal better.
04:47 --> 04:51 [SPEAKER_00]: When that steam is coming out of your ears,
04:51 --> 04:52 [SPEAKER_00]: for sure.
04:55 --> 04:57 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, without further ado, should we get into the story?
04:57 --> 04:58 [SPEAKER_00]: We have a lot to cover today.
04:58 --> 05:01 [SPEAKER_00]: I went a little bit crazy with her outline here.
05:01 --> 05:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm excited, though.
05:03 --> 05:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm, I'm cool to start with the cold open.
05:06 --> 05:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, let's suppose to get a new it.
05:08 --> 05:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Alright.
05:09 --> 05:16 [SPEAKER_00]: Robert Edwin House CEO of Robco sits in a bar with some working-class fellows who have a bone to pick with him.
05:17 --> 05:28 [SPEAKER_00]: House quickly proves their assumptions about him correct as he tests a mind-controlled device on a few of the men ordering one to kill the others before the device pops the men's head like a balloon.
05:31 --> 05:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, what's the way the color worker?
05:33 --> 05:36 [SPEAKER_00]: We are not all like that, I swear.
05:36 --> 05:39 [SPEAKER_00]: I would say that they were kind of in the right here.
05:40 --> 05:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh for sure on this one, but like, I mean more on like the wanting to beat up people in a bar.
05:46 --> 05:47 [SPEAKER_01]: We are not all like that.
05:48 --> 05:49 [SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot though.
05:50 --> 06:00 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, every group has their bad apples who want to get into back alley fights.
06:01 --> 06:06 [SPEAKER_00]: We should talk about something kind of important and something a little bit confusing.
06:07 --> 06:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I was confused about this as well, actually.
06:12 --> 06:20 [SPEAKER_00]: So on the TV, we can see that Robert House from last season is on the TV.
06:22 --> 06:25 [SPEAKER_00]: but Robert House from this season is sitting in the bar.
06:26 --> 06:29 [SPEAKER_00]: So these are two separate people within the season.
06:29 --> 06:30 [SPEAKER_00]: They didn't just recast House.
06:31 --> 06:34 [SPEAKER_00]: There is a second house and that leads to the question.
06:35 --> 06:39 [SPEAKER_00]: And I'll give a couple of options for us after we hear your thoughts, Richard.
06:40 --> 06:42 [SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple of options of what's happening.
06:43 --> 06:45 [SPEAKER_00]: What do you think is happening here?
06:45 --> 06:46 [SPEAKER_00]: Why are there two Robert houses?
06:46 --> 07:07 [SPEAKER_01]: I think, I think it's very likely that he's got one that's just like, you know, his spokesperson, like, right, like maybe I'm assuming the TV face is more just spokesperson, like, head of the company, like, public figure head style, but then the guy in the bar was actually Robert House, right?
07:07 --> 07:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Like, that's, that's what I'm thinking.
07:09 --> 07:19 [SPEAKER_00]: That's also what I think is happening, but I do want to put forth a different theory that I've seen out there, which could very well be true, but I really doubt.
07:21 --> 07:37 [SPEAKER_01]: Just curious, because I just kind of used my brain for a second and actually thought about it for a second.
07:38 --> 07:45 [SPEAKER_01]: the guy in the bar was, or the fucking TV guy, like one of them is a mine control puppet.
07:45 --> 07:48 [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't even think about that, but that is really possible.
07:48 --> 07:49 [SPEAKER_00]: It would kind of make sense.
07:50 --> 07:57 [SPEAKER_00]: I would shy away from that one just a little bit because it seems like he's testing it out like really early stages at this point.
07:57 --> 07:58 [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah.
07:58 --> 08:01 [SPEAKER_00]: But he might have a more advanced version that wouldn't surprise me.
08:01 --> 08:06 [SPEAKER_00]: He's definitely a genius type character.
08:07 --> 08:14 [SPEAKER_00]: The other thing that I've kind of seen floating around, which I'll tell you why I don't think this is the case, Robert House has a brother.
08:14 --> 08:19 [SPEAKER_00]: And they haven't named this other house like the one that we see in the bar.
08:19 --> 08:25 [SPEAKER_00]: So a lot of people are saying, oh, maybe that is Robert House's brother and there's some kind of thing going on there.
08:28 --> 08:29 [SPEAKER_00]: The problem with that.
08:30 --> 08:32 [SPEAKER_00]: house and his brother hate each other.
08:32 --> 08:34 [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of bad blood there.
08:34 --> 08:42 [SPEAKER_00]: And Robert House's brother is kind of a nobody at this point in the show or at this point in the series.
08:42 --> 08:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
08:42 --> 08:44 [SPEAKER_00]: The whole backstory of the bad blood is that
08:45 --> 08:56 [SPEAKER_00]: The House family, their father, made the family fortune off of H&H tool company, which you hear how's talk about a lot during the episode, right?
08:56 --> 08:57 [SPEAKER_00]: The Nalgone.
08:57 --> 08:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Exactly.
08:58 --> 09:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Which, by the way, the Nalgone is a weapon from Fallout New Vegas that you can use.
09:03 --> 09:05 [SPEAKER_00]: You can get the H&H tools, Nalgone.
09:05 --> 09:06 [SPEAKER_00]: That's cool.
09:06 --> 09:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
09:07 --> 09:24 [SPEAKER_00]: When House's father died, the brother cut him out of the business and removed him from the will and took H and H tools for himself, which that's the reason why House founded his company Rob Co to begin with is because he was cut out of the family business.
09:24 --> 09:27 [SPEAKER_00]: And what ends up happening is
09:27 --> 09:38 [SPEAKER_00]: How's gets so rich off the tech sector that he is able to undercut his brother and buy out H and H tools and leave his brother destitute with absolutely nothing in the end?
09:39 --> 09:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, as you do to your family members?
09:42 --> 09:54 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I will say that house was a little bit justified because of the whole, you know, being cut out of the family business and denied the fortune situation.
09:55 --> 09:57 [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, there's definitely some bad blood there.
09:57 --> 10:06 [SPEAKER_00]: So I would say it's probably not his brother, even though people are saying that I would lean more towards the idea that he has a body double.
10:06 --> 10:12 [SPEAKER_00]: How is the whole ordeal with his brother kind of left him as a really paranoid person?
10:12 --> 10:16 [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, that makes sense.
10:16 --> 10:16 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
10:17 --> 10:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I will say the me thinking that the body double could be a mine control person.
10:22 --> 10:26 [SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm really thinking back to Gen D with this one, you know?
10:27 --> 10:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that if you haven't seen Gen V, you should watch it.
10:31 --> 10:34 [SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was pretty good and I also thought it was pretty good.
10:35 --> 10:46 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, we might go back and do a wrap up at some point, but we had some issues with the scheduling there, but we might get back to it at some point before season five of the boys comes out.
10:47 --> 10:47 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
10:48 --> 10:50 [SPEAKER_00]: We get our first needle drop of the episode right at the beginning.
10:50 --> 10:56 [SPEAKER_00]: We get cheek to cheek by Peggy Lee playing as protesters beat down on a Mr. Andy robot.
10:58 --> 10:59 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, we've all been there.
10:59 --> 11:00 [SPEAKER_01]: We've all been there.
11:00 --> 11:01 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, automation.
11:02 --> 11:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Boo!
11:03 --> 11:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Mr.
11:03 --> 11:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Handy.
11:04 --> 11:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Boo!
11:05 --> 11:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Although, they are voiced by Matt Barry, so like, maybe we don't have to kill all the Mr. Handys.
11:12 --> 11:29 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I would say so and it's also kind of funny that they're beaten down on a Mr. handy robot because that's not even a Rob co robot that's a general atomic robots, so they're just kind of going out there.
11:29 --> 11:33 [SPEAKER_00]: That was the show kind of making your comment about them not really caring.
11:33 --> 11:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, about who it is just automation in general, bad,
11:41 --> 11:41 [SPEAKER_00]: you know, very true.
11:41 --> 11:47 [SPEAKER_00]: And this is where we get the thing that I saw a lot of confusion about.
11:47 --> 11:56 [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of people thought that the title of this episode is the man who knew because the title screen at the end of the opening comes up as the man who knew.
11:56 --> 12:04 [SPEAKER_00]: That's just the title for Mr. House like we got in season one episode one title screens for Lucy Maximus in the Google.
12:04 --> 12:07 [SPEAKER_00]: So I guess they are casting Robert as the man who knew.
12:07 --> 12:10 [SPEAKER_00]: What does he know?
12:13 --> 12:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, this, you know, that's a good question.
12:16 --> 12:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I think he might know, you might know about the nuke's man.
12:20 --> 12:23 [SPEAKER_01]: He might know who dropped them, is all I'm saying.
12:24 --> 12:31 [SPEAKER_00]: He might even have been the one to push the button according to the little conversation we get later in the episode.
12:31 --> 12:35 [SPEAKER_01]: No, Robert House, he would never.
12:35 --> 12:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Nice guy.
12:37 --> 13:06 [SPEAKER_00]: real nice guy it's interesting that they are changing things a little bit here are not even changing things but they're adding some depth to his character in Fallout New Vegas and I'm really sorry listeners I'm going to say that a lot that's kind of going to be part of the point of this podcast is to point out some of the references and some of the lore from the games while we talk about this show I will try my best not to harp on it too much but it'll be hard for me
13:07 --> 13:14 [SPEAKER_00]: In Fallout New Vegas, Mr. House does not admit that he is the one who dropped the bombs.
13:14 --> 13:26 [SPEAKER_00]: He just talks a little bit to the player character about how he knew that the bombs were coming, and that's why he built an anti-missile system around Vegas to protect the city from the bombs.
13:26 --> 13:37 [SPEAKER_00]: And so a little bit of a new addition to the lore, which I think is interesting, and we'll get into the whole secretive house thing later, because it'll come up again.
13:38 --> 13:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, before we go further, I just wanted to say, I kind of hope that they don't confirm who dropped the bombs.
13:46 --> 13:47 [SPEAKER_01]: And I have a reasoning for this.
13:47 --> 14:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I saw this on Instagram the other day and like, not I never thought about it that way, but I guess I never thought about it that in depth is like, I think the idea of it being like ambiguous as to who like what specific country fired
14:06 --> 14:11 [SPEAKER_01]: fits really well with fallout itself because it's about how like war never changes and everything.
14:11 --> 14:12 [SPEAKER_01]: What am I trying to say here?
14:13 --> 14:14 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not very nervous with this.
14:15 --> 14:16 [SPEAKER_00]: I think I get it.
14:16 --> 14:23 [SPEAKER_00]: It's it doesn't really matter who dropped the bombs because the whole world has destroyed anyways, right?
14:23 --> 14:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
14:24 --> 14:27 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I I definitely agree with that.
14:27 --> 14:32 [SPEAKER_00]: I think at the end of the day if the whole world is just blown up
14:33 --> 14:35 [SPEAKER_00]: Everyone is screwed, it really doesn't matter.
14:35 --> 14:39 [SPEAKER_00]: The people in power who were able to protect themselves were able to protect themselves.
14:39 --> 14:42 [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, that's just the way it goes.
14:42 --> 14:46 [SPEAKER_00]: The little people on the ground suffer while the people at the top get to do what they want.
14:47 --> 14:47 [SPEAKER_00]: of course.
14:48 --> 14:52 [SPEAKER_00]: We get a name for the bald guy who gets stuck with the device.
14:52 --> 14:52 [SPEAKER_00]: His name is Bill.
14:53 --> 14:59 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Bill's coming back, but he was in the credits as Bill and his friends were Bill's friends.
15:00 --> 15:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
15:03 --> 15:04 [SPEAKER_00]: Bill's Buds even.
15:05 --> 15:06 [SPEAKER_00]: Bill's Buds Buds Buds.
15:07 --> 15:08 [SPEAKER_00]: Buds Buds.
15:08 --> 15:17 [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's so funny that they still have bud listed like in the Amazon x-ray situation as green on a rumour.
15:18 --> 15:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, main on a rumour.
15:22 --> 15:23 [SPEAKER_01]: that's just hilarious.
15:23 --> 15:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Do they gotta advertise rumbers?
15:26 --> 15:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Amazon, remember, Amazon.
15:27 --> 15:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Very small, local startup.
15:30 --> 15:36 [SPEAKER_00]: They need their ad revenue just a little bookstore who happens to put out fallout on Prime.
15:36 --> 15:37 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
15:37 --> 15:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you have any closing thoughts about the opening before we move on to Lucy and the Google?
15:43 --> 15:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I do not, but I am excited to talk about Lucy and the Google.
15:46 --> 15:49 [SPEAKER_01]: I think their dynamic has,
15:49 --> 15:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, you know, like in season one, I think their dynamic is great.
15:52 --> 15:57 [SPEAKER_01]: And it's probably one of my favorite parts so far of the new season.
15:57 --> 15:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
15:58 --> 16:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, you want to get us set up with Lucy in the ghoul?
16:01 --> 16:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, of course.
16:02 --> 16:07 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, they have been pursuing Hank, you know, for we don't know how long, but we'll assume.
16:09 --> 16:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, a bond maybe, maybe, at least a day, at least a day, yeah, maybe a week.
16:16 --> 16:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, call it a week, until we get like some kind of confirmation, so they've been traveling across the Mojave and they have bumped into some iconic Fallout New Vegas locations that Aaron is definitely going to tell us about.
16:29 --> 16:36 [SPEAKER_01]: And their dynamic really hasn't changed much as the ghoul's ruthless plans are still being halted by Lucy's like,
16:36 --> 16:53 [SPEAKER_01]: upbringing of the vaults about like how a world needs to be better and people need to treat each other the way they want to be treated which is a great It is a great idea to try that but unfortunately if you're going up against psycho raiders, I think you just gotta
16:54 --> 16:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Got to do what you got to do, you know?
16:57 --> 16:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
16:58 --> 17:05 [SPEAKER_00]: And the first location that they bump up against is Novak, which we talked a little bit about in our preview episode.
17:06 --> 17:10 [SPEAKER_00]: This is the place with Dinky the Dino, who is the mascot of the town.
17:11 --> 17:14 [SPEAKER_00]: This is based off of a real life road stop attraction in Nevada.
17:15 --> 17:19 [SPEAKER_00]: So if you ever see Dinky the Dino in real life, I don't think that's what its name is in real life.
17:19 --> 17:19 [SPEAKER_00]: But,
17:20 --> 17:23 [SPEAKER_00]: very cool little reference there.
17:24 --> 17:27 [SPEAKER_00]: They negotiate with a group of Raiders called the Great Cons.
17:28 --> 17:31 [SPEAKER_00]: This is the third iteration of the cons they've been the cons.
17:31 --> 17:35 [SPEAKER_00]: They've had a tough go of it and a little fun fact about them.
17:35 --> 17:38 [SPEAKER_00]: You see one of them named Nick the prick.
17:39 --> 17:43 [SPEAKER_00]: He does some jet which is a fallout drug and
17:43 --> 17:49 [SPEAKER_00]: The cons are actually responsible for manufacturing most of the drugs that are in the Mojave wasteland.
17:50 --> 17:57 [SPEAKER_00]: They're pretty big-time drug runners and dealers out here in the wasteland.
17:58 --> 17:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
17:59 --> 18:04 [SPEAKER_01]: As you kind of have to be, I mean, whatever it takes to make it through the life in the wasteland.
18:04 --> 18:05 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, exactly.
18:05 --> 18:08 [SPEAKER_00]: Whatever puts food on the table in the wasteland, I guess.
18:09 --> 18:10 [SPEAKER_00]: Good food, like, fleece-yup.
18:11 --> 18:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm, mm
18:38 --> 18:43 [SPEAKER_01]: that that guy he definitely has just laid waste to their ranks in the past.
18:43 --> 18:47 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's that's just what the ghoul seems to be good at at this point.
18:47 --> 18:49 [SPEAKER_01]: It's just kind of a lone non people.
18:50 --> 18:50 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
18:51 --> 18:52 [SPEAKER_00]: He does love to kick some ass.
18:53 --> 18:56 [SPEAKER_00]: And while he's kicking ass in this episode, Richard.
18:57 --> 18:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Big iron song, Richard.
18:58 --> 19:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm so peak.
19:02 --> 19:02 [SPEAKER_01]: I love that song.
19:02 --> 19:03 [SPEAKER_01]: You love that song.
19:03 --> 19:04 [SPEAKER_01]: We all of that song.
19:05 --> 19:06 [SPEAKER_00]: Big iron.
19:06 --> 19:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Mm.
19:08 --> 19:17 [SPEAKER_00]: I've seen people freaking out on the internet about this one because this is without a doubt the most iconic song that was in Fallout New Vegas.
19:19 --> 19:20 [SPEAKER_01]: What are you?
19:21 --> 19:31 [SPEAKER_01]: I would argue it's the most, maybe the most iconic fallout song besides I don't want to set the world on fire by the Inxpads.
19:31 --> 19:36 [SPEAKER_01]: I think those are the top two fallout like I hear them, I think a fallout.
19:37 --> 19:43 [SPEAKER_01]: And when I think of fall, I don't think of those songs, you know, but inextricably linked.
19:43 --> 19:55 [SPEAKER_00]: If I wasn't so afraid of getting copyright claimed or whatever on Apple podcasts, I don't want to set the world on fire would have been the opening for our podcast.
19:56 --> 19:58 [SPEAKER_01]: or we could have done that for a season one of them.
19:59 --> 20:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Big iron for season two.
20:00 --> 20:01 [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I get it.
20:02 --> 20:03 [SPEAKER_00]: I get what you mean.
20:03 --> 20:11 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think that a podcast of our scope would ever have a problem with that if I'm being honest, but that's just not something I want to take the chance on.
20:12 --> 20:12 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
20:14 --> 20:31 [SPEAKER_00]: In the large kind of opening shot where we see Novak for the first time, in the background you can see the Helios one solar array, which if you listen to our preview episode is the control center for the Archimedes to space laser, which is exactly what it sounds like.
20:31 --> 20:36 [SPEAKER_00]: It is a giant space laser that acts as a weapon of mass destruction only acts like it.
20:37 --> 20:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Well,
20:40 --> 20:44 [SPEAKER_00]: It kind of is a weapon of mass destruction and do you know what the control mechanism for our comedies to is?
20:46 --> 20:49 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh God what it is a toy space gun.
20:51 --> 21:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh you know that's there's there's like there's aura you know I see it there is it when you find the control mechanism for it because you can turn on the spacelies are pretty early in the game when you get to helios one but you don't have an ability to really control it.
21:07 --> 21:14 [SPEAKER_00]: Later on in the game, you then find some 10-year-old running around freeside at the outer area of Vegas.
21:14 --> 21:20 [SPEAKER_00]: And he's just playing with a little toy alien gun, and you can either buy it off him for a whole lot of money.
21:21 --> 21:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Or you can convince him that it's worthless and take his toy.
21:26 --> 21:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm kind of shocked.
21:27 --> 21:29 [SPEAKER_01]: There isn't a third option to just steal it.
21:31 --> 21:38 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's no stealing option and there is no, um, pry it from my cold dead hand's option because Well, yeah, that's a kid.
21:39 --> 21:39 [SPEAKER_00]: I get that part.
21:40 --> 21:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
21:40 --> 21:42 [SPEAKER_01]: But I think you should be able to pick puck in a kid.
21:42 --> 21:45 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, that's not inherently evil.
21:47 --> 21:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm, I don't actually think like this.
21:48 --> 21:51 [SPEAKER_01]: By the way, this is just the fallout logic getting to me guys.
21:51 --> 21:55 [SPEAKER_01]: The wasteland, the rules of the wasteland are just burdened into me.
21:55 --> 22:01 [SPEAKER_00]: Now I'm really afraid that you are going to go and take some kids lunch money after this podcast is over.
22:01 --> 22:05 [SPEAKER_02]: I would never do that dude.
22:05 --> 22:07 [SPEAKER_02]: That's messed up.
22:07 --> 22:09 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to take some adults lunch money, obviously.
22:10 --> 22:11 [SPEAKER_00]: All right, that's more acceptable.
22:11 --> 22:12 [SPEAKER_00]: I can take that.
22:12 --> 22:14 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
22:14 --> 22:24 [SPEAKER_00]: When the goal is kind of being struck, he talks about being in the town about
22:25 --> 22:41 [SPEAKER_00]: Darla is not a character we get to meet in New Vegas, but she is a character we hear a lot about because one of the companions who you meet in Novaki is one of the snipers that guards the town by being posted up in Dinky the Dino's mouth.
22:41 --> 23:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, his wife was Darla and prior to the events of Fallout New Vegas, like just before the events of the game start, the Legion takes Darla's wife and she essentially becomes a slave for the Legion and Craig Boone, who is a retired NCR sniper, he's not able to save her and so as a way to save his wife from slavery, he ends up shooting and killing his wife and that was Darla.
23:11 --> 23:12 [SPEAKER_00]: a little reference there.
23:13 --> 23:13 [SPEAKER_02]: So sad.
23:13 --> 23:15 [SPEAKER_00]: It is really sad.
23:15 --> 23:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Craig Boone.
23:16 --> 23:18 [SPEAKER_00]: He's a real tragic character.
23:18 --> 23:40 [SPEAKER_00]: He was also he's got some pretty bad PTSD because he was one of the snipers who was at the bitter spring's massacre where a lot of the women in the children that were belonging to the great cons tribe were killed by the NCR in a miscommunication where the NCR commanders told them to just
23:40 --> 23:44 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, and they were just following orders, which is just always great.
23:45 --> 23:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so Boon, he's had a rough go of it, and that leads me to flee soup.
23:54 --> 23:55 [SPEAKER_00]: Yummy in my tummy.
23:57 --> 24:00 [SPEAKER_00]: If your son owed you money, would you be pretty pissed?
24:00 --> 24:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Probably not.
24:01 --> 24:04 [SPEAKER_01]: That's my kid.
24:04 --> 24:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
24:05 --> 24:06 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
24:06 --> 24:07 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
24:08 --> 24:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, police who played he, she was sure upset that her son was killed by Hank before he got the opportunity to pay her back.
24:16 --> 24:22 [SPEAKER_00]: That might have been my favorite line in the series so far when they go up to her.
24:22 --> 24:24 [SPEAKER_00]: And they're like, oh, I'm so sorry for your loss.
24:24 --> 24:27 [SPEAKER_00]: And she's like, yeah, the Cox Locker Road and we fucking money, you know.
24:28 --> 24:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Dude, I think that...
24:30 --> 24:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Like what you put in the outline like that scene does have everything to love about fall.
24:34 --> 24:57 [SPEAKER_01]: It's got the weirdness of like Like she's gonna go make the flee soup and then to make it she just pulls her head down and starts scratching or fucking head until the fleas fall into the suit like like that's so weird and quirky but that fits perfectly with fallouts like identity and sort of just flee soup in general, you know?
24:57 --> 24:58 [SPEAKER_00]: It does.
24:58 --> 25:05 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, people out here eating giant cockroaches, they're, the flee soup should not be surprising to anyone.
25:05 --> 25:08 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm just surprised that the flees aren't the size of a small dog.
25:08 --> 25:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because we're on their big flees in 76.
25:12 --> 25:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Again, I know that that's like up for debate if that's can or not.
25:15 --> 25:15 [SPEAKER_01]: But,
25:16 --> 25:23 [SPEAKER_00]: There might have been some big fleas in 76, but I did really think that the whole flea soup thing was awesome.
25:23 --> 25:29 [SPEAKER_00]: It was disgusting in the best kind of way to see if it was just jumping in and out of the soup.
25:29 --> 25:33 [SPEAKER_00]: The whole time that Lucy had that thing, the little bowl of flea soup close to her face.
25:33 --> 25:35 [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, take that away.
25:35 --> 25:36 [SPEAKER_00]: You were going to get fleas on your scalp.
25:36 --> 25:39 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's going to come back.
25:40 --> 25:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I think that could actually be a thing at the end of the season
25:45 --> 25:47 [SPEAKER_01]: fleeing for station.
25:48 --> 25:50 [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe Ella Perneau will have to shave her hair.
25:52 --> 25:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Both, Ella Perneau.
25:55 --> 26:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you see in the goal are trying to bring Hank to justice.
26:01 --> 26:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Earth of very least, Lucy is trying to bring Hank to justice.
26:04 --> 26:05 [SPEAKER_00]: The goal just wants his family back.
26:05 --> 26:07 [SPEAKER_00]: He wants to know where they are.
26:07 --> 26:11 [SPEAKER_01]: He wants to know where his family is, and then he wants to get his get back.
26:11 --> 26:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I know as soon as he finds out, he's going to try and blow Hanks head to pieces.
26:16 --> 26:21 [SPEAKER_00]: I have a couple of questions for you.
26:21 --> 26:22 [SPEAKER_00]: I want to hear your thoughts on him.
26:22 --> 26:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, boy, I'm ready.
26:25 --> 26:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Number one, do you think that there is a big possibility that the Google's family is alive?
26:32 --> 26:37 [SPEAKER_00]: And number two, will the goal be on the same side as his family?
26:38 --> 26:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Because in the flashbacks, he's against Barb.
26:40 --> 26:42 [SPEAKER_00]: He's kind of spying on her.
26:42 --> 26:44 [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know even if they reunite.
26:45 --> 26:54 [SPEAKER_00]: Is he reuniting because he wants to get his daughter back and his wife back or does he want to get his daughter back and slime his wife?
26:55 --> 27:00 [SPEAKER_01]: I think he's going to, in a very emotional,
27:00 --> 27:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, so actually, hold on, hold on, I'm cooking, okay?
27:05 --> 27:09 [SPEAKER_01]: So Norm is unfreezing all of Buds Buds.
27:11 --> 27:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I think we got to, I'm pretty sure that his wife was in Buds Buds or at least like, like, she's got to be linked to that somehow.
27:21 --> 27:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, she's definitely still alive.
27:23 --> 27:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe through the cryo thing, you know, who knows?
27:28 --> 27:37 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that, yes, he's going to want to reunite with his wife and daughter, but I think he's going to want to maybe even kill his wife.
27:38 --> 27:45 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if it would be that far, but like he's definitely not going to mess with her anymore.
27:46 --> 27:52 [SPEAKER_01]: And then he's going to want his daughter back and she's going to be somewhat brainwashed into loving and vault tech.
27:52 --> 27:53 [SPEAKER_00]: those are some great theories.
27:54 --> 27:59 [SPEAKER_00]: The only thing I would disagree with is I don't think that Barb would be in the Buds Buds Fall.
27:59 --> 28:02 [SPEAKER_00]: I think she's way too high up on the food chain for that in Vault Tech.
28:03 --> 28:13 [SPEAKER_00]: It seems like Buds Buds is a lot of kind of bumbling, middleman injuries to put it kindly and Barb seems like she's a well.
28:13 --> 28:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Why are we putting it kindly?
28:15 --> 28:17 [SPEAKER_00]: block these people.
28:17 --> 28:18 [SPEAKER_00]: That's so true.
28:18 --> 28:19 [SPEAKER_00]: Vault tech sucks.
28:19 --> 28:23 [SPEAKER_00]: They don't deserve any sympathy from us as thank you.
28:23 --> 28:25 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but I think that
28:26 --> 28:37 [SPEAKER_00]: Barb is probably in some kind of control vault or maybe she's even somewhere in some dark corner of the place that Hank gets to later in the episode.
28:37 --> 28:43 [SPEAKER_00]: It seems like that's a pretty large vault tech HQ area, but it also seems like he was the only one there.
28:43 --> 28:46 [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know if what's going on.
28:47 --> 28:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll figure that out as the show goes on.
28:51 --> 29:01 [SPEAKER_00]: The final plot point that we have for Lucy and the goal is them going to Vault 24, which fun fact, that is cut content from Fallout New Vegas.
29:01 --> 29:13 [SPEAKER_00]: It was originally supposed to be in the game, but if you don't know the development story of New Vegas, but thus to finish Fallout 3 and they wanted something in between that game and Skyrim, and so they
29:15 --> 29:17 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
29:17 --> 29:17 [SPEAKER_00]: They told the Obsidian.
29:18 --> 29:18 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, thank you.
29:20 --> 29:28 [SPEAKER_00]: So they tell Obsidian you have 18 months to make a full game.
29:29 --> 29:38 [SPEAKER_00]: which if you know anything about game development, crazy type of line, I mean, Bethesda has been working on the Elder Scrolls 6 for God.
29:39 --> 29:40 [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know.
29:40 --> 29:43 [SPEAKER_01]: We don't know what kind of thing about that.
29:44 --> 29:45 [SPEAKER_01]: How was it going to make?
29:45 --> 29:50 [SPEAKER_01]: It's just going to make me mad when they release on another version of Skyrim.
29:50 --> 29:55 [SPEAKER_00]: do they already do they released another version of guys who are like two weeks ago for this week or two.
29:55 --> 30:19 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I can't wait for them to make one for like what's left Samsung Samsung's smart fridge right like what if I told you they already have no way there's I know they have like the Amazon Alexa one but that's the version that they have on the on the same
30:20 --> 30:21 [SPEAKER_01]: do they have it on mobile?
30:21 --> 30:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I know there's like the one elder scrolls game, but I feel like Skyrim just needs to be poured on my phone at this point.
30:28 --> 30:32 [SPEAKER_00]: Like they could probably get it to run decently well on a phone at this point.
30:32 --> 30:40 [SPEAKER_00]: If it runs on a switch which is basically just a charged up iPad, I'm sure they could get that to run on an iPhone, especially the newer ones.
30:41 --> 30:47 [SPEAKER_00]: Catch me, catch me driving a work plane, Skyrim on my phone.
30:48 --> 30:51 [SPEAKER_00]: I would totally spend $60 to play Skyrim on my iPhone.
30:51 --> 30:52 [SPEAKER_01]: $60?
30:52 --> 30:53 [SPEAKER_01]: $60?
30:54 --> 30:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Hello!
30:56 --> 30:59 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm talking like 10 because it's going to run horribly anyways.
31:00 --> 31:01 [SPEAKER_01]: This is very true.
31:02 --> 31:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe not actually because new phones are kind of...
31:05 --> 31:06 [SPEAKER_00]: probably good enough.
31:07 --> 31:18 [SPEAKER_00]: If you want to play Skyrim or fall out for the first time, and you have an Amazon subscription, which I assume you do if you're watching this show, unless you are are pulling a little bit of that.
31:19 --> 31:27 [SPEAKER_00]: Amazon Luna has the fallout games and Skyrim on available for streaming without paying any extra money.
31:27 --> 31:29 [SPEAKER_00]: It's just included in your subscription.
31:29 --> 31:31 [SPEAKER_00]: So go check it out if you haven't.
31:31 --> 31:32 [SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot of fun.
31:33 --> 31:35 [SPEAKER_00]: Man, remember when they were going to
31:36 --> 31:53 [SPEAKER_01]: the Amazon lunar cons did they not make one I don't think so I'm pretty sure it's all just like streaming through your fire stick which maybe I'm thinking of something else I know I think Google made it or tried to make a console yeah maybe that's something I think it was
31:54 --> 32:09 [SPEAKER_00]: I think I vaguely remember this whole console thing, but yeah, it's just kind of silly that they would even think about doing that when their whole gimmick is the game streaming, which I haven't replaying Vegas over the last couple of days on Amazon Luna because I
32:10 --> 32:17 [SPEAKER_00]: And that back in my hometown for a month, and I had to leave my extremely large gaming computer behind.
32:17 --> 32:24 [SPEAKER_00]: It was not feasible to bring that with me, so I tapped into the Luna Framework and hooked up my Xbox controller.
32:24 --> 32:30 [SPEAKER_00]: There's some input lag, so it's not the greatest experience I have to admit, but it's still fun.
32:31 --> 32:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
32:32 --> 32:34 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, whatever works, you know.
32:34 --> 32:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all right, up next, we get a little bit of info that Koop has been vault delving a lot in his quest to find his family.
32:42 --> 32:44 [SPEAKER_00]: He says that he's been in a whole lot of vaults.
32:45 --> 32:53 [SPEAKER_00]: That's, do you think we're going to get any flashbacks of him exploring vaults in the immediate aftermath of the bombs dropping or anything of that sort?
32:54 --> 33:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I would really like to, but I mean, I don't, I just don't know, I can't tell where they're going with the Google that much right now,
33:03 --> 33:29 [SPEAKER_01]: I would like to see that though because that sounds cool to me and like maybe we could see like early wasteland like raider tribes start in a form during that like give me give me stuff like that and I'm happy yeah that would be pretty cool I do wonder how far they're going to go with the flashbacks if we are going to get those early days of post war america because
33:30 --> 33:35 [SPEAKER_00]: I want to see what the world looks like immediately after it blows up where the goal is out there.
33:35 --> 33:47 [SPEAKER_00]: And I, I really hope that this season, we get to a point in the flashbacks where Cooper somehow gets separated from his daughter because the bombs go off.
33:47 --> 33:48 [SPEAKER_00]: He's still with his daughter.
33:48 --> 33:59 [SPEAKER_00]: So we don't know what happens in between that point where he's on the horse running away from the bombs to the point where his family is somewhere else
34:00 --> 34:23 [SPEAKER_00]: And then the final little piece of information that we get, we see that Hank used the little back or the little neck chip that Mr. House invented in order to brainwash some poor fellow to deliver a message to Lucy, he says, It's got everything handled, she needs to go home, sugar bomb, and there's a box of sugar bombs, but on the table.
34:24 --> 34:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Yummy!
34:25 --> 34:28 [SPEAKER_00]: All right, let's talk a little bit about the pre-war flashbacks.
34:28 --> 34:47 [SPEAKER_00]: We already got into it a little bit, but our pre-war story picks up pretty much right where we left off last season after coupe discovers that Barb and Voltaque want to drop the bombs themselves, coupe wants to take Janie and run as far away as possible, telling her, grab your three favorite outfits, grab your favorite toys, we got to get going.
34:47 --> 34:57 [SPEAKER_00]: he ends up meeting Lee Moldover in a little diner and Lee convinces him, stick around and spy on vault tech using your acting skills.
34:58 --> 35:05 [SPEAKER_00]: I know that your wife is a monster who wants to blow up the world, but please just see spy on her, please spy on her.
35:06 --> 35:15 [SPEAKER_00]: It starts off with the meeting that we got at the end of last season with the whole shady, we're going to blow up the world's
35:17 --> 35:21 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that the guy standing up at the top watching over them is the real Mr. House now?
35:22 --> 35:41 [SPEAKER_01]: I think it could be, but it could just as easily be someone hiring King and Voltaque that maybe we just haven't that that's going to be like some big thing that he's still alive after everything and like, like, maybe there'll be something with that, but I'd be fine if it was the real Mr. House.
35:41 --> 35:42 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that'd be good.
35:42 --> 35:46 [SPEAKER_00]: And I say the Real Mr. House, like our theories are confirmed.
35:46 --> 35:52 [SPEAKER_00]: We don't actually know yet if there's a Real Mr. House in a fake one, they could be doing something completely different with us.
35:53 --> 35:54 [SPEAKER_00]: But I'm going to go off that assumption for now.
35:55 --> 35:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
35:57 --> 36:05 [SPEAKER_00]: We get another great needle drop here with make the world go away by Eddie Arnold, which plays as Cooper and Janey are escaping Barb's clutches.
36:06 --> 36:11 [SPEAKER_00]: And they get interrupted by a mass panic when a nuclear alarm test goes off.
36:11 --> 36:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, and there was a very cool detail, not like small.
36:15 --> 36:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Like you definitely noticed it.
36:17 --> 36:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, there's the vault text salesman rushing around there, and it's very reminiscent to like the opening of four.
36:23 --> 36:32 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the even the neighborhood was so close to the like little cookie cutter neighborhood with the cul-de-sac that they have in Fallout four.
36:33 --> 36:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I'm sure that was intentional.
36:34 --> 36:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they have put a lot of like care
36:40 --> 36:52 [SPEAKER_00]: this show with like making small references wherever they can, you know, it feels like they could have made an announcement over the alarm speakers telling people, this is just a drill.
36:53 --> 37:14 [SPEAKER_01]: yeah because they're people genuinely started losing it they're going to ask for that i can't lie yeah well i think they said they said it on like the radio right before but people were like absorbed in their own like conversations and whatever so as soon as the alarm is went off they just started going into full on panic mode exactly
37:14 --> 37:21 [SPEAKER_00]: Even Janey, who heard the thing because she's, you know, she's a kid that's scary when the nuclear bomb Syrians go off.
37:21 --> 37:22 [SPEAKER_00]: She was pretty terrified.
37:23 --> 37:34 [SPEAKER_00]: And then just seeing the poster up there of Cooper giving the thumbs up like everything is just fine as people are freaking the hell out about possible nuclear annihilation.
37:34 --> 37:36 [SPEAKER_00]: So perfect.
37:37 --> 37:42 [SPEAKER_00]: You have that moment of realization on his face where he looks and he's like, damn, what did I get myself involved with?
37:42 --> 37:43 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm the poster boy.
37:44 --> 37:45 [SPEAKER_00]: for genocidal maniacs.
37:46 --> 37:46 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
37:47 --> 37:51 [SPEAKER_01]: It's happened to all of us once though, so I, you know, I can't judge.
37:51 --> 37:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
37:53 --> 38:05 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that with Cooper going to spy on his wife and house in Vegas in these next upcoming episodes, what do you think that relationship is going to look like between Cooper and House?
38:05 --> 38:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Is House going to like see right through him?
38:07 --> 38:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Or, I mean, it's going to be interesting for sure.
38:12 --> 38:17 [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's very possible that House sees right through it.
38:17 --> 38:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, from what we've seen and like you obviously know more, but from what we've seen in the show, he seems pretty intelligent and I'm assuming based on the games or based on new Vegas, at least you kind of get a better idea of that house.
38:33 --> 38:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Not only is he really intelligent, he's a really ambitious guy.
38:37 --> 38:39 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, obviously, but
38:39 --> 39:00 [SPEAKER_00]: If you end up killing him in Fallout New Vegas, his obituary gets released, which he wrote himself and it outlines his like 50 to 100 year plan for New Vegas where he essentially his plan was get really rich off of reopening the Vegas strip reopening the casinos.
39:01 --> 39:09 [SPEAKER_00]: then he was going to reignite the whole like industrial sector of America, which is just insane.
39:09 --> 39:12 [SPEAKER_00]: And then his third step was put people back on the moon.
39:12 --> 39:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, totally.
39:16 --> 39:16 [SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
39:18 --> 39:31 [SPEAKER_00]: He had a lot of big ideas, who knows if that obituary was actually his plan or if he was just kind of releasing that after his potential death in order to hype himself up and make everyone think, oh, damn, we really lost out on one of the great moments.
39:31 --> 39:32 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
39:32 --> 39:32 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
39:33 --> 39:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Could be a little bit of both.
39:35 --> 39:46 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because his intelligence he is, it's really clear that he's a guy who loves
39:46 --> 40:15 [SPEAKER_01]: uh... we haven't even covered this show we're not related to this at all but reminds me of like welcome to dairy he could have won but he had to he had to skip and be a silly little guy mm-hmm that motherfucker that was a great show go listen to what the dairy or go watch the other dairy and listen to the lower-hand scourge yeah any final thoughts on the pre-war section before we talk about the vaults a little bit
40:15 --> 40:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think I have anything else, although I would like to see a little like I'm sure we'll get more of it But like more mold-aver Towards the end of the season would be great
40:27 --> 40:32 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm really, I'm a little bit sad that she died at the end of last season.
40:32 --> 40:39 [SPEAKER_00]: I loved her character in the post-war period, but I'm glad that she came back for the pre-war stuff.
40:39 --> 40:47 [SPEAKER_00]: It was a nice surprise to see her, and I'm glad she'll be a part of the story in that going forward.
40:47 --> 40:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
40:47 --> 41:06 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping we like see how she was able to make it to present day because like obviously she wasn't being led into vault text shit like one of their cryo facilities like what what could have happened there you know.
41:07 --> 41:17 [SPEAKER_00]: It's also really interesting that she mentions how swanning her
41:17 --> 41:36 [SPEAKER_00]: what I get that infinite energy, especially in the post-apocalypse, that's huge, but they already have like close enough to infinite energy with nuclear fusion that there has to be more to the whole cold fusion thing that we don't know about yet.
41:36 --> 41:37 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's got to have like,
41:38 --> 41:45 [SPEAKER_01]: some actual crazy shit planned out that just can't couldn't happen without court fusion.
41:45 --> 41:50 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so that'll be interesting to see that going forward.
41:51 --> 42:06 [SPEAKER_00]: One final thing about Cooper before we move on, this, I meant to mention this earlier, but we saw Cooper healing his neck with a cracked fusion core, which straight out of the games that ghouls can heal using radiation.
42:07 --> 42:13 [SPEAKER_00]: They're in fact, in the games, are a variation of ghouls called glowing ones, which exactly what it sounds like.
42:13 --> 42:15 [SPEAKER_00]: It's a ghoul that is,
42:15 --> 42:25 [SPEAKER_00]: completely green and glowing with radiation, and their special ability is that because they give off radiation, the other ghouls around them are able to heal.
42:25 --> 42:30 [SPEAKER_00]: And so they're kind of acting as the ringleaders for certain packs of pharaoh ghouls.
42:30 --> 42:32 [SPEAKER_00]: We even find one...
42:32 --> 42:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Throughout the whole series, we only find one, non-ferral glowing one, and he leads a cult, which is set up very close to Novak.
42:42 --> 42:59 [SPEAKER_00]: They're at the RepCon testing site, which is a space rocket testing site, and they are the focus of a quest called, come fly with me in which you help the
42:59 --> 43:01 [SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't really work out for them, okay.
43:01 --> 43:08 [SPEAKER_00]: You help them launch and they almost immediately crash into the ground and their whole cult dies.
43:09 --> 43:12 [SPEAKER_00]: So RIP to Jason Bright and the Bright followers.
43:13 --> 43:16 [SPEAKER_02]: Jason Bright, all right.
43:17 --> 43:18 [SPEAKER_00]: John glowing.
43:19 --> 43:22 [SPEAKER_02]: Like, like, what the hell is that name?
43:23 --> 43:30 [SPEAKER_00]: There's also a really goofy character who's in that cult that's a human but he believes that he's a goal
43:30 --> 43:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, he's part of like proof in the mirror.
43:34 --> 43:43 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's kind of into Nile and at the end, basically the ghouls are using him because he's a scientist and he can get the rockets up and running again.
43:43 --> 43:50 [SPEAKER_00]: And at the end, they're like, oh, you're not a ghoul, so you can't come to the promised land with us.
43:50 --> 43:56 [SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, good for him, I guess, but he ends up in Novak.
43:56 --> 43:59 [SPEAKER_00]: So if the cons rolled in,
44:00 --> 44:01 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
44:01 --> 44:05 [SPEAKER_00]: Richard, would you like to set us up with our little vault plot line or plot lines, rather?
44:05 --> 44:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
44:06 --> 44:18 [SPEAKER_01]: So we see Stephanie settling into her new job as the Ores here of Vault 32, and Betty is doing her best to shepherd the people of Vault 33.
44:18 --> 44:24 [SPEAKER_01]: People of the vault are doing their best to give their oversuits a headache, especially Davy, Davy.
44:25 --> 44:32 [SPEAKER_01]: But maybe it's for the best at the 31ers or running things, we really just don't know, I guess.
44:34 --> 44:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm skeptical because you know, they work for a vault tech in their buds buds.
44:39 --> 44:41 [SPEAKER_01]: But you know, you never know.
44:42 --> 44:52 [SPEAKER_01]: And Norm is just trying to get through the week or however long it's been, he's run out of food so he's kind of, he's in a pickle.
44:54 --> 44:55 [SPEAKER_00]: I would say so.
44:55 --> 45:07 [SPEAKER_00]: I love the opening for the vault section where we get come go with me by the Delvikings playing as red strolls through vault 33 with a lollipop in his mouth.
45:07 --> 45:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he's an interesting character.
45:10 --> 45:11 [SPEAKER_01]: He's such a goof.
45:11 --> 45:13 [SPEAKER_00]: What did you think about his little incest support group?
45:15 --> 45:19 [SPEAKER_01]: Dude, we don't gotta talk about the incest support.
45:19 --> 45:24 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, you know, maybe that's something that's better left for just people to experience.
45:26 --> 45:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh yeah, I, I think it's so funny that everyone left as soon as they found out that it was against and not for.
45:35 --> 45:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like those two, those two were just trying to do it right then and there that that was insane, it was pretty crazy.
45:44 --> 45:52 [SPEAKER_00]: I love the way that Betty is just giving people busy work, like running a club so that they can just get out of her hair.
45:52 --> 45:54 [SPEAKER_00]: Like she has so many things to worry about.
45:54 --> 46:00 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, 33 is using makeshift water filters and it's not going super well.
46:00 --> 46:04 [SPEAKER_00]: They keep parts keep breaking, they don't have enough electricity to make it all work.
46:05 --> 46:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Things are going pretty poorly.
46:07 --> 46:15 [SPEAKER_00]: And now there's going to be even more people between the three vaults that's right with norm letting out all the 31ers
46:16 --> 46:45 [SPEAKER_00]: man, he, when we get norm going from fighting through his thirst, his starvation, and having to listen to Bud Askins, Mr. Bring on a room, it's constantly just droning on and on and on about how he needs to get into one of the pods or how he can turn into dust, he can just
46:46 --> 46:49 [SPEAKER_00]: He was just rage-beating though, I feel like.
46:50 --> 46:50 [SPEAKER_00]: Totally.
46:51 --> 47:01 [SPEAKER_00]: It was also really funny to see Norm when he finally has his moment of realization that he can just cause absolute chaos by letting everyone out.
47:01 --> 47:06 [SPEAKER_00]: He goes up to bud and kicks the syringe that bud has been threatening him with clean off.
47:06 --> 47:07 [SPEAKER_00]: The dust syringe.
47:08 --> 47:10 [SPEAKER_00]: So interesting that
47:10 --> 47:17 [SPEAKER_00]: That's the way that they would recycle norm is by turning him into dust and like using him as fertilizer for the crop fields.
47:18 --> 47:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's just insane, but I guess whatever works, you know different strokes for different folks, it's so true.
47:27 --> 47:32 [SPEAKER_00]: And we get our final or actually second to last Neil drop of the episode.
47:32 --> 47:34 [SPEAKER_00]: It's all over but the crying by the ink spots.
47:35 --> 47:35 [SPEAKER_00]: Good song.
47:36 --> 47:37 [SPEAKER_00]: Good song.
47:38 --> 47:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Like you said, the Inkspots probably the most iconic and associated with fallout.
47:45 --> 47:56 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they've been there since the fallout three trailer, so the whole time that Bethesda has owned the franchise, they've been the musical poster boys of the fallout.
47:56 --> 47:56 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
47:57 --> 47:58 [SPEAKER_00]: And rightfully so.
47:58 --> 48:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think I hope they continue to be because it's great.
48:04 --> 48:10 [SPEAKER_00]: How do you think that this whole 30 waters getting released is going to affect things in the immediate term?
48:11 --> 48:20 [SPEAKER_01]: A low key thing can norm is going to have to run for his life and maybe get exposed to the wasteland because I don't know if they're going to let that slide.
48:22 --> 48:28 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, because they should theoretically
48:29 --> 48:29 [SPEAKER_01]: yeah.
48:32 --> 48:41 [SPEAKER_01]: But who knows, maybe though, I think it'd be interesting if one or two of the people who was frozen decides to actually grow conscious.
48:42 --> 48:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Can't concentrate or whatever.
48:44 --> 48:44 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
48:44 --> 48:48 [SPEAKER_00]: And do you think, do you think it would be someone that we've met already?
48:48 --> 48:49 [SPEAKER_00]: That's part of Buds Buds.
48:51 --> 48:54 [SPEAKER_00]: We don't have the full kind of roster of who's involved, but
48:55 --> 48:59 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't, you know what, that's the thing, I just don't know.
49:00 --> 49:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
49:02 --> 49:05 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, finally we should talk about Hank a little bit.
49:06 --> 49:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, let's talk about Mr. O.G.
49:11 --> 49:12 [SPEAKER_00]: Paul the Trades.
49:14 --> 49:14 [SPEAKER_00]: O.G.
49:14 --> 49:16 [SPEAKER_00]: Paul the Trades, that's right.
49:16 --> 49:22 [SPEAKER_00]: And there was a little reference that it was apparently to one of his other movies when he's pouring the coffee.
49:22 --> 49:25 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember, it's really escaping me at the moment.
49:25 --> 49:34 [SPEAKER_00]: I apologize, folks, but it was a reference to one of his other films and one of his other characters when he is in the power arm or suit and he's really like happy with the coffee.
49:34 --> 49:37 [SPEAKER_00]: not the power I'm a part of it specifically, but the coffee part.
49:38 --> 49:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the coffee?
49:38 --> 49:40 [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know if it was the song I was playing.
49:41 --> 49:44 [SPEAKER_00]: The song, this was my favorite needle drop of the episode.
49:44 --> 49:47 [SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned this to Richard before we started our episode.
49:48 --> 49:50 [SPEAKER_00]: Working for the man by Roy Orbison.
49:51 --> 49:52 [SPEAKER_00]: This was my first time hearing this song.
49:53 --> 49:57 [SPEAKER_00]: It plays as Hank gets himself cleaned up and continues some of Valtex experiments.
49:58 --> 50:02 [SPEAKER_00]: I added this immediately to my retro playlist.
50:02 --> 50:03 [SPEAKER_00]: I love this song.
50:04 --> 50:08 [SPEAKER_01]: I, I just can't stand by that as a favorite needle drop.
50:08 --> 50:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry, you know, I think it was a great one, but, you know, I got to go with the classic Mr. Robbins.
50:17 --> 50:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
50:19 --> 50:22 [SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes you got to stick with the classics.
50:22 --> 50:23 [SPEAKER_00]: I got it.
50:23 --> 50:26 [SPEAKER_00]: Hank, he's got a lot of work to do.
50:26 --> 50:37 [SPEAKER_00]: He has 462 on red messages or on listen to messages in his voice box or in his voice mailbox.
50:38 --> 50:42 [SPEAKER_00]: That's a lot of action items to complete.
50:42 --> 50:50 [SPEAKER_00]: I hope he doesn't have to sit there and listen to all of them.
50:51 --> 50:51 [SPEAKER_00]: just a little bit.
50:51 --> 50:57 [SPEAKER_00]: He did blow up a capital city of a thriving republic with like 40 people in it.
50:59 --> 51:02 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm pretty sure he also like didn't he kill his wife.
51:03 --> 51:04 [SPEAKER_02]: It wasn't that confirmed.
51:04 --> 51:06 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, basically killed her.
51:06 --> 51:11 [SPEAKER_00]: She was technically Lucy gave the final blow, but that was a mercy kill at the end.
51:12 --> 51:15 [SPEAKER_00]: when she was a ghoul and like a pharaoh ghoul right away.
51:15 --> 51:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, it has been a minute.
51:18 --> 51:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I should have rewatch season one.
51:20 --> 51:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
51:21 --> 51:22 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I remember now.
51:22 --> 51:23 [SPEAKER_00]: It's been a minute for me as well.
51:23 --> 51:28 [SPEAKER_00]: I rewatch season one over the summer when I had a little bit more time.
51:28 --> 51:34 [SPEAKER_00]: So there's a few things that are fresher in my mind, but there are some things that I definitely could use a refresher on.
51:34 --> 51:39 [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe in the off days when there's not a new episode coming out, I'll try and work my way through.
51:39 --> 51:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I might just try and binge at this weekend.
51:43 --> 51:44 [SPEAKER_00]: That's not a bad idea.
51:45 --> 51:57 [SPEAKER_00]: And finally, Hank McLean reporting for duty to someone that isn't Vault Tech and someone that he wants to keep his activities hidden from Vault Tech.
51:57 --> 52:00 [SPEAKER_00]: Someone whose old stomping ground is Vegas.
52:02 --> 52:04 [SPEAKER_00]: Mr. Robbie Bobby House.
52:05 --> 52:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Mr. Robert House, it's gotta be.
52:08 --> 52:11 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I will be shocked if it's anyone other than Mr. House.
52:11 --> 52:16 [SPEAKER_00]: And that just really leads to the question of how deep does Mr. House's influence go?
52:16 --> 52:18 [SPEAKER_01]: That is true.
52:18 --> 52:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I, so I did have one other, like group or person, I guess that I wanted to be, unfortunately, because of the year old stomping ground line, it cannot be like who or what I wanted it to be.
52:33 --> 52:51 [SPEAKER_01]: And what I wanted it to be was like, like Russians or like communist, something like that, lean into like the political aspect, but again, because of the Vegas-year-old stomping grounds, it can't be.
52:51 --> 52:54 [SPEAKER_01]: It's got to be Mr. Mr. House.
52:55 --> 52:55 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
52:56 --> 52:59 [SPEAKER_00]: No mention of the on-clave in this episode,
52:59 --> 53:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, I wonder if they are going to be a presence.
53:02 --> 53:06 [SPEAKER_00]: They were barely a presence last season after, uh, dog meat escaped.
53:08 --> 53:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was really just like, they were just kind of like, uh, an early plot device and never used again.
53:15 --> 53:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, which makes a little bit of sense.
53:17 --> 53:18 [SPEAKER_00]: The on-clave.
53:20 --> 53:25 [SPEAKER_00]: They've been thoroughly kicked in the ass a couple of times already.
53:25 --> 53:31 [SPEAKER_00]: They had their entire base of operations on the West Coast, which was an oil rig off the coast of California.
53:32 --> 53:35 [SPEAKER_00]: They got blown up, they got nuked in Fallout 2.
53:35 --> 53:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, remember we did our episode on that?
53:39 --> 53:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so they're not doing well.
53:42 --> 53:48 [SPEAKER_00]: And some of the survivors.
53:48 --> 53:52 [SPEAKER_00]: The on-clave isn't a faction in its own right there.
53:53 --> 53:56 [SPEAKER_00]: You meet some elderly survivors of the on-clave.
53:56 --> 54:11 [SPEAKER_00]: And when I say elderly, I mean, these are people in, like, their 70s and 80s, like, they are, they're definitely out of their prime, but they have made a quiet living in the wasteland, kind of, living by themselves, keeping separate from each other.
54:11 --> 54:24 [SPEAKER_00]: And there's a really cool quest that you can do where you can convince these old timers to re-gather at their bunker and fight for whatever side in the battle of Hoover Dam that you want them to.
54:25 --> 54:40 [SPEAKER_00]: And so if you manage to convince them that they should fight on your side, they will show up in their on-clave power armor in a vertebrate helicopter and have one final
54:40 --> 54:50 [SPEAKER_00]: their big moment, which is really cool and the quest is really interesting that's how you can get some interesting looking power armor.
54:50 --> 54:55 [SPEAKER_00]: And it also has one of my favorite companions as a part of that questline.
54:55 --> 54:57 [SPEAKER_00]: His name is Arcade Ganon.
54:57 --> 54:58 [SPEAKER_00]: He's not old.
54:58 --> 55:00 [SPEAKER_00]: He was a child when the onklave were destroyed.
55:00 --> 55:01 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
55:01 --> 55:25 [SPEAKER_00]: he is a follower of the Apocalypse, which sounds like a cult, but it's actually just kind of like a science slash aid organization that aims to teach people in the wasteland a little bit about medicine and like water filtration, essentially their whole thing is kind of like a red cross situation where they want to help people get back on their feet and help communities grow.
55:25 --> 55:30 [SPEAKER_01]: the name makes me think that like they're the opposite of what they actually are.
55:30 --> 55:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
55:31 --> 55:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Like I totally would expect them to be just insane people who are just kind of doing awful stuff because that's that's just what the fallout world has come to.
55:43 --> 55:53 [SPEAKER_00]: But one other notable member of the followers of the Apocalypse, or I should say former member because he really hates science is Caesar.
55:53 --> 56:21 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, the leader of Caesar's Legion, he was a follower of the Apocalypse, and actually when he began to create Caesar's Legion, he was sent by the followers of the Apocalypse to the Grand Canyon to document some of the languages of the tribes that were living there, and he ends up getting captured by one of the tribes, and he essentially takes over from the inside,
56:21 --> 56:27 [SPEAKER_00]: brutal tactics of war and helping them conquer each other and like forcing them into submission.
56:29 --> 56:38 [SPEAKER_00]: So right, as you do, he goes from being a linguist and like aid organization member from California to being a brutal warlord.
56:38 --> 56:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, that's just the Tuesday for me.
56:41 --> 56:41 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know about you.
56:41 --> 56:50 [SPEAKER_00]: Let's take a quick ad break before we get into our thoughts and how we felt about the episode and wrap things up.
56:51 --> 56:53 [SPEAKER_03]: All right, where were you?
56:53 --> 57:11 [SPEAKER_00]: All right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all right, all
57:12 --> 57:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, I thought, and I think I said this few times already, but like I thought this episode had a great feel to it.
57:18 --> 57:26 [SPEAKER_01]: It really like captured the feel of playing the games, which the first season also did a phenomenal job of, but like,
57:27 --> 57:41 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I'm glad that they're keeping that rhythm of like very, like a, there's a good driven plot that like you care about, but there's still like all sorts of weird and like quirky shit going on in the background, like like the flee soup lady.
57:42 --> 57:50 [SPEAKER_01]: And she doesn't even really care that her son's dead, but she cares about the fucking caps that he owes her like that is peak fall out.
57:51 --> 57:54 [SPEAKER_00]: It really sucks when someone dies before you can collect your debt from them.
57:55 --> 57:55 [SPEAKER_00]: Right?
57:55 --> 58:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I know he was my closest friend and I know, like, I should totally care about that part of him dying or whatever.
58:02 --> 58:05 [SPEAKER_01]: But like, he owed me five dollars, man.
58:06 --> 58:08 [SPEAKER_00]: I need my five dollars.
58:08 --> 58:11 [SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's so messed up for her, man.
58:12 --> 58:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, and what, honestly, what a piece of shit, like dying before paying her back.
58:19 --> 58:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Horrible person.
58:20 --> 58:22 [SPEAKER_00]: What did she even raise him for all those years for?
58:23 --> 58:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like, can't even give him a little bit of a little bit of a little bit of a blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah
58:50 --> 58:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Paul.
58:53 --> 58:54 [SPEAKER_00]: Paul, move out to you betrayedies.
58:55 --> 58:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
58:56 --> 59:01 [SPEAKER_01]: That guy can't over-affirm as well as my glorious king, Adrienne Milo.
59:02 --> 59:04 [SPEAKER_00]: I'll get to the son-eater books one of these days.
59:04 --> 59:06 [SPEAKER_00]: No, you won't.
59:06 --> 59:06 [SPEAKER_00]: I will.
59:06 --> 59:08 [SPEAKER_00]: I'll get to them after the cause.
59:08 --> 59:11 [SPEAKER_00]: I've been on my, um, I've been reading rhythm of war.
59:12 --> 59:30 [SPEAKER_00]: you you have you you've been reading for a minute now and the book is like 1200 pages long it's a miracle that I got through the other ones is quick as I did dude oh well that's because I'll bring you so peak but yeah I get it rhythm took me like three whole weeks
59:30 --> 59:39 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, about a year ago, actually, and well, I promise I will have rhythm of war done by the end of January.
59:40 --> 59:41 [SPEAKER_00]: Is, is that an oath?
59:41 --> 59:42 [SPEAKER_00]: That's an oath.
59:42 --> 59:43 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
59:44 --> 59:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you want to not bring in your oath?
59:49 --> 59:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Did you have any problems with this episode?
59:53 --> 59:58 [SPEAKER_01]: I did, I had one problem, and that is the absence of the Maximus plot.
59:58 --> 01:00:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, come on, give me Maximus and give me Thadius with his weird neck mouth thing, I don't know what to call that, but like, come on, you can't have fall out without the brotherhood of steel.
01:00:12 --> 01:00:27 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, definitely it was notably absent and I've seen some folks in the discord talking about how they also felt that it was weird that they didn't have anything about the brotherhood and that, you know, the pacing may be felt a little bit off for this episode because of that.
01:00:27 --> 01:00:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't disagree with I think it did feel a little bit off.
01:00:31 --> 01:00:32 [SPEAKER_00]: I still love the episode overall.
01:00:33 --> 01:00:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like I said, that's my only like problem.
01:00:36 --> 01:00:39 [SPEAKER_01]: I think everything else has been phenomenal.
01:00:39 --> 01:00:41 [SPEAKER_01]: What are you got, friend?
01:00:42 --> 01:00:44 [SPEAKER_00]: I thought this episode was so funny.
01:00:45 --> 01:00:51 [SPEAKER_00]: There were just so many times where there was the flee soup lady or any of the other moments in this episode.
01:00:51 --> 01:00:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Even Mr. House,
01:00:53 --> 01:00:58 [SPEAKER_00]: when he gets punched in the mouth and he's like, well, I'm I'm rarely wrong, but we'll move on.
01:00:58 --> 01:01:05 [SPEAKER_00]: I just everything was the peak of fallout humor where it was so dark and witty.
01:01:06 --> 01:01:13 [SPEAKER_00]: And it just captured how messed up this world is and how everything has gone wrong.
01:01:13 --> 01:01:13 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
01:01:14 --> 01:01:15 [SPEAKER_00]: It was fantastic.
01:01:16 --> 01:01:20 [SPEAKER_00]: Every line in this show feels like it's straight out of the games.
01:01:20 --> 01:01:32 [SPEAKER_00]: It's not like some other series, which I won't name names, but I'm watching a show that has some video game tie-ins right now on Netflix, and it might be terrible.
01:01:32 --> 01:01:35 [SPEAKER_00]: If you want to hint, they recast the lead this season.
01:01:35 --> 01:01:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, the Witcher, the Witcher.
01:01:38 --> 01:01:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I would.
01:01:41 --> 01:01:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I feel sorry for ya.
01:01:44 --> 01:01:45 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
01:01:47 --> 01:01:52 [SPEAKER_00]: The only good part about the new season of the Witcher is that they brought in one of my favorite characters, Regis.
01:01:52 --> 01:01:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and what they do to one of your other favorite characters, Aaron.
01:01:57 --> 01:01:57 [SPEAKER_00]: Hmm.
01:01:57 --> 01:02:02 [SPEAKER_00]: They killed him like four books and three video games early.
01:02:02 --> 01:02:10 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so yeah, spoiler alert for a show that you don't need to waste your time with, I guess.
01:02:10 --> 01:02:16 [SPEAKER_00]: I did feel like there were a couple of things missing and that the pacing was a little bit off like folks in the discord were saying.
01:02:16 --> 01:02:23 [SPEAKER_00]: But overall, great first episode, even if it was mostly a setup episode, it did a really good job of setting things up.
01:02:23 --> 01:02:24 [SPEAKER_00]: I really loved it.
01:02:24 --> 01:02:29 [SPEAKER_00]: I think next week we are in for a treat.
01:02:29 --> 01:02:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
01:02:31 --> 01:02:35 [SPEAKER_00]: I'll just get into my, like, closing thoughts before we talk about a little bit of feedback.
01:02:35 --> 01:02:37 [SPEAKER_00]: It really felt like a return to form.
01:02:37 --> 01:02:42 [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like there was a little bit of a gap with the pacing with that black of a maximum's plotline.
01:02:43 --> 01:02:53 [SPEAKER_00]: A lot of shows have been doing a two episode drop at the beginning or as Richard suggested before we got on the microphone kind of like a longer first episode.
01:02:54 --> 01:02:59 [SPEAKER_00]: This show could have done that and maybe it would have felt a little bit more complete a little more whole.
01:03:00 --> 01:03:06 [SPEAKER_00]: However the great needle drops, the game references, all the hilarious moments made this a really memorable start to the season.
01:03:08 --> 01:03:12 [SPEAKER_00]: If the season as a whole is as good as this first episode, I'll be pretty satisfied.
01:03:12 --> 01:03:13 [SPEAKER_00]: I can't lie.
01:03:13 --> 01:03:15 [SPEAKER_00]: I'll be pretty happy with that.
01:03:16 --> 01:03:20 [SPEAKER_00]: I would get this episode like a solid 8.5 out of 10.
01:03:20 --> 01:03:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Please don't block my head with a mindful device Amazon.
01:03:24 --> 01:03:25 [SPEAKER_00]: I promise I like this show.
01:03:27 --> 01:03:29 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you don't gotta worry about Amazon and this one buddy.
01:03:30 --> 01:03:32 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think Amazon is listening or cares.
01:03:32 --> 01:03:33 [SPEAKER_01]: That's where you're wrong.
01:03:33 --> 01:03:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I actually just sent them your address when we're done just just open the door.
01:03:38 --> 01:03:39 [SPEAKER_00]: Well...
01:03:40 --> 01:03:43 [SPEAKER_00]: they have ghosted us on our screener questions before.
01:03:43 --> 01:03:45 [SPEAKER_00]: So, yep.
01:03:45 --> 01:03:46 [SPEAKER_00]: And it's all because of you.
01:03:46 --> 01:03:47 [SPEAKER_00]: It is.
01:03:47 --> 01:03:48 [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry.
01:03:49 --> 01:03:49 [SPEAKER_00]: We love you.
01:03:49 --> 01:03:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Amazon, please give us screener.
01:03:51 --> 01:03:52 [SPEAKER_01]: We love you Amazon.
01:03:52 --> 01:03:53 [SPEAKER_01]: I love the ad breaks.
01:03:54 --> 01:03:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Give me more ad breaks.
01:03:56 --> 01:03:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Please.
01:03:57 --> 01:03:58 [SPEAKER_00]: I know you guys are struggling as a company.
01:03:59 --> 01:04:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Give me more 3.5 minute ad breaks every 20 minutes in our long episode.
01:04:03 --> 01:04:07 [SPEAKER_00]: I want 10 minute ad breaks every 5 minutes.
01:04:09 --> 01:04:12 [SPEAKER_00]: I swear this episode almost made me pay for ad-free Amazon.
01:04:12 --> 01:04:14 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm, I'm a few on that.
01:04:16 --> 01:04:17 [SPEAKER_01]: It's getting to a point.
01:04:18 --> 01:04:19 [SPEAKER_00]: What did you think Richard?
01:04:19 --> 01:04:22 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you're closing thoughts on this episode.
01:04:23 --> 01:04:45 [SPEAKER_01]: aside from the ad breaks i thought this episode was i mean phenomenal premiere great premiere phenomenal whatever um as it it just really hit the now on the head with the whole like the whole feel of fallout's world and just it was just like season one in that way like the wasteland feels alive it feels dangerous like there
01:04:45 --> 01:04:49 [SPEAKER_01]: there could be a threat lurking around every corner that they turn, you know?
01:04:49 --> 01:05:05 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think the core of this feel is that Lucy is starting to adapt to the wasteland a lot better, and it's like watching a first playthrough, but like, you know, as a show, obviously.
01:05:05 --> 01:05:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's, uh, I'm talking like a full clean new playthrough, like you've never played the games before, you know?
01:05:13 --> 01:05:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:05:14 --> 01:05:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Like she's just figuring it out.
01:05:16 --> 01:05:17 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's great.
01:05:17 --> 01:05:19 [SPEAKER_01]: Like that really helps sell the
01:05:20 --> 01:05:21 [SPEAKER_01]: the vibes.
01:05:22 --> 01:05:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, but all around I'm going to have to grieve Aaron, give this one a solid 8.5 because the maximum is plot line next next episode hopefully.
01:05:33 --> 01:05:41 [SPEAKER_00]: If they had Maximus what would your score of Ben would it have been a perfect 10 or would it have been like probably 9.5 because it like it would depend.
01:05:41 --> 01:05:50 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, if if Maximus was in it and it was the same runtime then it would be like a nine
01:05:50 --> 01:05:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Like everything we got, plus Maximus, you know, then it would be probably a perfect time.
01:05:56 --> 01:05:59 [SPEAKER_00]: Let us get into a little bit of feedback.
01:05:59 --> 01:06:03 [SPEAKER_00]: This is all feedback from the Discord, which is a great way of engaging with the community.
01:06:04 --> 01:06:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Feel free to also do any of the other options that Richard mentioned earlier.
01:06:09 --> 01:06:12 [SPEAKER_00]: Like the voicemail, we would love to get a voicemail.
01:06:12 --> 01:06:13 [SPEAKER_00]: That would be so fun.
01:06:13 --> 01:06:14 [SPEAKER_00]: We'd love to get an email.
01:06:14 --> 01:06:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Really?
01:06:15 --> 01:06:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, you want to get a hold of us.
01:06:17 --> 01:06:19 [SPEAKER_00]: It just makes this whole thing a lot more fun.
01:06:19 --> 01:06:27 [SPEAKER_00]: So we appreciate all of you who are writing in and we appreciate all of you who are just listening along and watching the show with us.
01:06:28 --> 01:06:29 [SPEAKER_00]: So thank you.
01:06:29 --> 01:06:32 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we'll start off with Posse in 20.
01:06:32 --> 01:06:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Watch the first episode of Season 2 of Fallout, and it was quite good, and I enjoyed it.
01:06:37 --> 01:06:41 [SPEAKER_00]: There are several storylines that play with Central being Cooper and Lucy working together to find Hank.
01:06:41 --> 01:06:43 [SPEAKER_00]: The flashbacks are interesting.
01:06:44 --> 01:06:46 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm also very curious about what Hank is up to.
01:06:47 --> 01:06:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then we got Sub-Zero said, I think this was a table-setting episode, and many short scenes that established the key players in their locations.
01:06:56 --> 01:07:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I like the flashback content, but I think there was maybe a little too much back and forth.
01:07:01 --> 01:07:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Would have been better with one to two longer flashbacks instead of half a dozen short ones, but he thought the humor was on point and watched with a friend who's a big fan of the games and was loving all of the Easter eggs.
01:07:15 --> 01:07:19 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, um, I would agree with both of these pieces of feedback.
01:07:19 --> 01:07:20 [SPEAKER_00]: I think pausin.
01:07:21 --> 01:07:23 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm also really curious about what Hank is up to.
01:07:23 --> 01:07:38 [SPEAKER_00]: I Yeah, he's such a mystery to me, especially now that he is like working for someone else who is not Baltic because this whole time I've thought he's just a Baltic fanatic and now we get that information that maybe he's not so
01:07:40 --> 01:07:42 [SPEAKER_00]: He's not as much of the Vault Technatic as we thought.
01:07:42 --> 01:07:49 [SPEAKER_00]: He's kind of in it for himself, because he does bring up that he wants a promotion, that he's been doing good work, and he deserves it.
01:07:51 --> 01:07:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, what a mindset to be in, honestly.
01:07:55 --> 01:08:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, I had a hand in the destruction of the world, but I'll get a promotion in sub-zero.
01:08:06 --> 01:08:28 [SPEAKER_00]: I, yeah, I think that you are probably in, you are the Richard of that relationship with your friend who is like pointing out all the Easter eggs as you're watching together, because, um, yeah, I would definitely be, I would be that guy who's just pointing at the screen, like, oh my god, wait, let me pause for the next 10 minutes to talk about the Easter eggs.
01:08:29 --> 01:08:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do the, I feel like you and I both do that, like for you, you know, it depends on
01:08:37 --> 01:08:38 [SPEAKER_01]: washing or reading or whatever you know.
01:08:39 --> 01:08:49 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like when we watch welcome to dairy together, you had a lot of like awesome Stephen King lore that I had no idea about so yeah, and I didn't even bring up the giant cyborg bear.
01:08:49 --> 01:08:53 [SPEAKER_01]: We'll talk about that.
01:08:54 --> 01:08:59 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not kidding though, that is a real thing in the Stephen King universe that guy did so much coke back in the day.
01:09:01 --> 01:09:13 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, as a lot of writers did back in the day, they were cranking out content, and they were on a lot of substances while they were doing it, he had to have been on because like
01:09:14 --> 01:09:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Ah, that book.
01:09:15 --> 01:09:17 [SPEAKER_01]: That was a simple turn, root.
01:09:18 --> 01:09:19 [SPEAKER_01]: He was not on a matter in root.
01:09:19 --> 01:09:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Some of the shit in that book was pure evil.
01:09:22 --> 01:09:33 [SPEAKER_00]: And our final piece of feedback, we got from Josh Liu, who said, I did think it was a little weird that we have some, have the early ear scene where they assume Hank is going somewhere in New Vegas.
01:09:34 --> 01:09:37 [SPEAKER_00]: And then they ask the old flee sublady where he might have been headed.
01:09:38 --> 01:09:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Might have led them to the vault, so there's that still.
01:09:41 --> 01:09:42 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm happy to have it back.
01:09:42 --> 01:10:12 [SPEAKER_00]: uh... the coffee love reference was a nice tech coffee love is that the name of the project maybe that he was in i have no idea but i'm gonna go with yes drive flu seems to know ball out yet i will defer to jashley on this one i do know if it's a reference to something so i'm gonna go with that maybe maybe jashley was just saying that him loving the coffee was a reference to whatever the project was i'm not sure right in let us know what that reference was
01:10:12 --> 01:10:14 [SPEAKER_00]: This is our first truck full of them.
01:10:14 --> 01:10:22 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but thank you to everyone who wrote in and Thank you to everyone participating in the conversation on discord.
01:10:22 --> 01:10:25 [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you guys for being so awesome We love this community.
01:10:26 --> 01:10:37 [SPEAKER_00]: We love all of you and we're glad to have you with us on the new season of fallout Richard any closing thoughts after that feedback
01:10:38 --> 01:11:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, I like Aaron said we would definitely appreciate it more fun more fun to talk about it with more people But then also like I'm just happy to be back, you know, talking about I mean, I guess not back for fall out because I was in a part of the original Uh, see the first season like yeah, it's good to be back, you know, doing
01:11:01 --> 01:11:25 [SPEAKER_00]: Do it our thing where we ramble in a somewhat radioactive fashion, and I'm not sure if it'll be You joining me next week or if it's gonna be chase joining me it depends on What his schedule is looking like and what he's up to yeah, but we will definitely be back and I'll be back with you either next week or the week after so yeah, I mean at the earliest.
01:11:25 --> 01:11:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I'll see you you're at the latest.
01:11:27 --> 01:11:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I'll see you for episode three
01:11:29 --> 01:11:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
