00:58 --> 01:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Now, everyone, I just want to get ahead of something here.
01:01 --> 01:02 [SPEAKER_01]: You may notice my voice is a little different.
01:03 --> 01:04 [SPEAKER_01]: I've had the flu for a few days.
01:05 --> 01:08 [SPEAKER_01]: We're barely fitting in this recording before the episode air.
01:08 --> 01:12 [SPEAKER_01]: So apologies if I sound a little different.
01:12 --> 01:17 [SPEAKER_01]: If I'm a little bit lower energy, I'm going to try to keep hype because I am very hype about this episode.
01:17 --> 01:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Just trying to make it through a tough week.
01:21 --> 01:22 [SPEAKER_01]: So Marilyn.
01:23 --> 01:24 [SPEAKER_03]: John, you sound great, by the way.
01:24 --> 01:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, thank you.
01:25 --> 01:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
01:26 --> 01:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm doing nasal chic.
01:30 --> 01:31 [SPEAKER_01]: So what do you think of the episode?
01:33 --> 01:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, how do they just keep getting better and better?
01:37 --> 01:37 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
01:37 --> 01:39 [SPEAKER_03]: It's just phenomenal.
01:40 --> 01:47 [SPEAKER_03]: I have to say, when I first saw that that title, I found myself wondering about the meaning of it ever since I first caught a glimpse of it.
01:48 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_03]: And oh dear, I threw the worst and I wasn't wrong, unfortunately.
01:52 --> 01:56 [SPEAKER_03]: But the way we reached that point is just extraordinary.
01:56 --> 01:57 [SPEAKER_03]: I love the way
01:58 --> 02:06 [SPEAKER_03]: me keep plucking very specific notes from the book series and weaving them into interlady melodies in the TV series.
02:07 --> 02:13 [SPEAKER_03]: I think this meant go down as my most favorite and admired film version of a book or book series ever.
02:13 --> 02:17 [SPEAKER_03]: If it stays on track, big if we're only halfway through now.
02:17 --> 02:19 [SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, there's a lot to come.
02:20 --> 02:23 [SPEAKER_03]: But yes, I am very enthusiastic about this episode.
02:23 --> 02:24 [SPEAKER_03]: What about you?
02:25 --> 02:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was the best episode yet.
02:27 --> 02:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
02:28 --> 02:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe of the series so far.
02:29 --> 02:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, this was really, really excellent.
02:32 --> 02:36 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, actually, I don't know if I'll say that because the, the last couple episodes will last, he's really blew me out of the water.
02:36 --> 02:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
02:37 --> 02:39 [SPEAKER_01]: But, um, really, really great.
02:40 --> 02:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I, I got, got by the twist.
02:42 --> 02:43 [SPEAKER_01]: I did not expect Gail.
02:43 --> 02:46 [SPEAKER_03]: So did I. I got a couple of twists, actually.
02:47 --> 02:50 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought Gail was, got, you know what I mean?
02:50 --> 02:53 [SPEAKER_01]: I, I thought Gail was, was out the worded.
02:54 --> 03:23 [SPEAKER_01]: outsmitted by the mule and she wasn't that was that was your plan it was a faint and it it's really interesting because they do a lot of really great mirroring in this so you know you have you have a gal being so I think almost faux shock that Don kills the bystander because he it was necessary for the plan she's like oh I can be cold like yeah as way colder
03:24 --> 03:30 [SPEAKER_01]: What's Gail was weird to sacrifice a planet and a fleet to defeat this guy.
03:30 --> 03:32 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean not to mention an emperor or two.
03:33 --> 03:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, an empire really.
03:35 --> 03:37 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:37 --> 03:38 [SPEAKER_01]: And he knows it.
03:38 --> 03:39 [SPEAKER_01]: He knows there's no going back now.
03:40 --> 03:42 [SPEAKER_01]: That's the end of the entire empire.
03:43 --> 03:48 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I wouldn't count demos all out until we see her parts distributed on the floor.
03:48 --> 03:49 [SPEAKER_03]: That's similar.
03:50 --> 03:50 [SPEAKER_01]: That's fair.
03:50 --> 03:52 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know where she's going with it.
03:52 --> 03:56 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, she would come from me, cut into many slices, right?
03:56 --> 03:58 [SPEAKER_03]: That was the previous season.
03:58 --> 04:11 [SPEAKER_01]: So I will also say I was, you know, I need to give these guys these writers more credit because I was thinking that this Dawn plot line was going to be very like
04:12 --> 04:32 [SPEAKER_01]: romance and will they want they and it totally wanted a different direction and and I'm really glad that they fake me out without I think they made me they purposefully tease that to distract me and that was really smart plus I think we're really setting up for an amazing weaving in a book of book plotlines
04:33 --> 04:37 [SPEAKER_01]: That I can't talk about right now because it would spoil the book and spoil the whole plot of the show.
04:38 --> 04:43 [SPEAKER_01]: But I really think that we're pointing towards something that is going to make a lot of critics of certain parts of the season.
04:45 --> 04:46 [SPEAKER_01]: Have a little egg on their face.
04:46 --> 04:47 [SPEAKER_01]: You know.
04:49 --> 04:52 [SPEAKER_03]: Hopefully that those critics include neither Zen or me.
04:54 --> 04:54 [SPEAKER_03]: But we shall see.
04:55 --> 04:56 [SPEAKER_03]: We shall see.
04:56 --> 04:58 [SPEAKER_03]: But I quite agree with your assessment.
04:58 --> 04:59 [SPEAKER_03]: And it's funny.
04:59 --> 05:01 [SPEAKER_03]: I never saw the romance from the beginning.
05:01 --> 05:04 [SPEAKER_03]: I could see, though, where one might interpret it that way.
05:04 --> 05:08 [SPEAKER_03]: So they were, they were a faxy precious.
05:10 --> 05:10 [SPEAKER_01]: What?
05:11 --> 05:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
05:11 --> 05:12 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand that.
05:13 --> 05:13 [SPEAKER_03]: What?
05:13 --> 05:15 [SPEAKER_03]: My very foe gallum imitation.
05:15 --> 05:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god.
05:15 --> 05:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my god.
05:17 --> 05:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
05:18 --> 05:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't getting the gallum impression from it.
05:20 --> 05:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
05:21 --> 05:21 [SPEAKER_02]: No worries.
05:23 --> 05:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I just, I'm so impressed by this team.
05:26 --> 05:31 [SPEAKER_01]: I think, you know, there's some talks of like, will they or won't they follow the Goyer plan after this?
05:31 --> 05:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
05:33 --> 05:37 [SPEAKER_01]: I hope that they will because it's been an incredible journey so far.
05:38 --> 05:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Indeed.
05:39 --> 05:44 [SPEAKER_01]: So, since I'm sick, I'm going to say let's get right into this journey.
05:44 --> 05:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Let's start on Micogen.
05:45 --> 05:50 [SPEAKER_01]: On Micogen, day eludes captors by setting up a decoy who he watches from afar.
05:51 --> 05:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Demorselle discovers the clavagers' body and says they won't see day again nor be bothered by him, but she'll deal with dawn.
06:00 --> 06:03 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I love the visuals of Micogen.
06:04 --> 06:08 [SPEAKER_03]: All the tangled roots and all the moisture dripping in the
06:10 --> 06:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Lovely, I descriptions of the sorts of things that you would expect to find in the world, which not only thrives on mold and yeast itself, but, you know, is supplying a planet of, you know, how many millions of people, millions of people?
06:28 --> 06:34 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the foundation of Empire, where they like it or not, because it's the primary food source, now.
06:35 --> 06:39 [SPEAKER_03]: But both literally and the foundation of the fundament, the ground,
06:41 --> 06:43 [SPEAKER_03]: and, as I say, the food source to keep small going.
06:44 --> 06:52 [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm reading prayerly defoundation again, and like you were saying, there's definitely a similar event in the books.
06:52 --> 07:01 [SPEAKER_03]: So, as I said before, I love the way they're plucking these things out and giving us entirely new context and perspective on it.
07:02 --> 07:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, when we were on the surface with Demerzo and the dead clavager, um, my first thought was, well, didn't the night's last very long because I thought they were intended to make the clavagers body look like day.
07:17 --> 07:18 [SPEAKER_01]: No, I didn't think so.
07:18 --> 07:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought that that was just like a homing beacon.
07:20 --> 07:25 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, obviously, I just read it because of course that's what it was.
07:25 --> 07:26 [SPEAKER_03]: It was a marker for him.
07:26 --> 07:27 [SPEAKER_03]: It's all the OK.
07:28 --> 07:33 [SPEAKER_03]: And I like the fact that at least two captions, I finally discovered his name.
07:34 --> 07:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Maven, his name was Maven, not Clavager or Captain Maven, or whatever.
07:40 --> 07:47 [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know if he was much of a good guy in the end anyway, but his family didn't deserve to suffer.
07:48 --> 07:48 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, no.
07:49 --> 07:51 [SPEAKER_03]: And I think he was in an impossible position.
07:51 --> 07:53 [SPEAKER_03]: Whatever he did or didn't do.
07:55 --> 08:01 [SPEAKER_03]: I think the minute day first approached him, he knew that sooner or later he was just going to be screwed.
08:02 --> 08:03 [SPEAKER_03]: Because how could it be any other way?
08:05 --> 08:17 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, everybody knows that Demiselle looms the background of Empire and how can you possibly accept the word of people who are going to flip on a dime and
08:18 --> 08:31 [SPEAKER_03]: Um, have wheels with the wheels, but clearly day was much more cognizant of events and plotting six or eight steps out.
08:32 --> 08:32 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
08:32 --> 08:35 [SPEAKER_03]: In ways that just were not at the time.
08:36 --> 08:37 [SPEAKER_03]: It was a clever switch that he did.
08:38 --> 08:44 [SPEAKER_03]: They did with an unknown man, so that he was able to put the Micagenian's office trail.
08:45 --> 08:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
08:46 --> 08:47 [SPEAKER_03]: But now I wonder,
08:48 --> 08:49 [SPEAKER_03]: is Dave Vulnerable?
08:50 --> 09:01 [SPEAKER_03]: Are the Nanites that transferable and removable or I've always read it that they just took, he took some of his Nanites out enough to have the signal and put them into that.
09:01 --> 09:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I thought it was all of them and that's why.
09:03 --> 09:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, see a lot of people have said that.
09:04 --> 09:08 [SPEAKER_03]: And if that's the case, it's a pretty weak protection system, my goodness.
09:09 --> 09:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, you got to hold him down long enough to extract it.
09:13 --> 09:17 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's, that's, and you have to get past his personal aura, too.
09:18 --> 09:19 [SPEAKER_01]: So I think.
09:19 --> 09:19 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's show.
09:19 --> 09:21 [SPEAKER_03]: He did take off his personal aura.
09:21 --> 09:24 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a pretty good dual protection system.
09:24 --> 09:25 [SPEAKER_01]: I am in my opinion.
09:25 --> 09:26 [SPEAKER_01]: I am in IMO.
09:26 --> 09:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I've been on the internet too long.
09:30 --> 09:36 [SPEAKER_03]: I kept, they kept switching it up over the, you know, hundreds of years because as each successive
09:38 --> 09:40 [SPEAKER_03]: don't hinder day or whoever did something.
09:41 --> 09:41 [SPEAKER_03]: All right.
09:41 --> 09:43 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's not going to work anymore.
09:43 --> 09:46 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's try another iteration of this protection thing.
09:46 --> 09:48 [SPEAKER_03]: So for me, it's all still kind of murky.
09:50 --> 10:02 [SPEAKER_03]: And I wonder if at some point I'd like it if they would provide us, you know, very clear discussion, demarcation of the ability of limitations of nanites, but I somehow have a feeling that they're not going to do that.
10:03 --> 10:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
10:03 --> 10:04 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, this show
10:05 --> 10:12 [SPEAKER_01]: It does all, you know, and this is part of the books, too, is like, there are some things that are like really scientific because as a mom of himself was a scientist, right?
10:13 --> 10:14 [SPEAKER_01]: He wrote science textbooks, too.
10:15 --> 10:15 [SPEAKER_01]: He wrote in fiction.
10:16 --> 10:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but there were some things that were like, you know, the medallics where he's just like, and then there was magic.
10:21 --> 10:23 [SPEAKER_01]: But he's going to call it science.
10:23 --> 10:23 [SPEAKER_01]: And that's fine.
10:24 --> 10:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that that is a valid form of science fiction.
10:27 --> 10:29 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think it's almost lost.
10:29 --> 10:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Like Star Wars is like that sort of.
10:31 --> 10:34 [SPEAKER_01]: There's other kind of things like that.
10:34 --> 10:38 [SPEAKER_01]: But you know, I do appreciate the asthma balance like that.
10:38 --> 10:39 [SPEAKER_01]: And the show is holding true to that.
10:40 --> 10:42 [SPEAKER_01]: I think the show does a lot of like, all right.
10:42 --> 10:46 [SPEAKER_01]: And the vault can make physical things out of Harry Selbin's cells.
10:46 --> 10:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Fine.
10:47 --> 10:47 [SPEAKER_01]: You know?
10:47 --> 10:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was the biggest
10:50 --> 10:51 [SPEAKER_03]: love for me to swallow.
10:52 --> 10:53 [SPEAKER_03]: Think of how big that is.
10:53 --> 10:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, that you could put a whole plan answered the people inside, even a very sparsely populated planet.
11:00 --> 11:03 [SPEAKER_03]: But somehow they could all just suddenly be scooped up and put in here as their plan.
11:03 --> 11:05 [SPEAKER_03]: It was being destroyed around the world.
11:05 --> 11:08 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not sure that Azimah would have repissured that.
11:08 --> 11:18 [SPEAKER_03]: But let's remember he was writing at a point when there was a very, very stiff demarcation between science, fiction, and everything else.
11:19 --> 11:28 [SPEAKER_03]: And there were some very strong feelings that could erupt if you did not adhere strictly to science and did not have anything that could not be
11:30 --> 11:37 [SPEAKER_03]: you know, affirmed by if not the present day science, at least it came from a scientific point of view that said because this then bad.
11:39 --> 11:46 [SPEAKER_03]: But on the other hand, back to the announcements from in here, did Gayle not know that Don can be traced by his narrates?
11:48 --> 11:48 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
11:48 --> 11:49 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
11:49 --> 11:52 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't forget about his narrates, which would just simply not tell Gayle about them.
11:54 --> 11:58 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I don't think this Don is as paranoid as that day.
12:00 --> 12:08 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's just part of it is, is they thought about this clearly for a long time and clearly thought about all the different ways he should be tracked.
12:08 --> 12:09 [SPEAKER_03]: That's true.
12:09 --> 12:15 [SPEAKER_01]: And Don is literally running off, you know, hand-grabbed by a younger young person.
12:15 --> 12:20 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, young, three hundred year old young person.
12:20 --> 12:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Never dated a woman.
12:21 --> 12:28 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I also just as I was posing those questions, it suddenly occurred to me.
12:30 --> 12:33 [SPEAKER_03]: could Gale and Demorselle have actually entered into an alliance?
12:35 --> 12:35 [SPEAKER_03]: It could be.
12:36 --> 12:46 [SPEAKER_03]: And Gale knew all along that yes, Demorselle would track Dawn by his nanonites and located.
12:47 --> 12:47 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
12:47 --> 12:50 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, this is the beauty of the what they're giving us.
12:50 --> 12:52 [SPEAKER_03]: There's so many possibilities.
12:52 --> 12:57 [SPEAKER_03]: And now that we have this big, well, I shouldn't talk about the big reveal until we get there.
12:58 --> 13:02 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm now even more open to possible alternatives than ever.
13:03 --> 13:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's a lot of options.
13:05 --> 13:08 [SPEAKER_01]: I do like the idea that there will be an alliance.
13:08 --> 13:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think there's one right now.
13:09 --> 13:12 [SPEAKER_01]: I think I do think that myself was actually genuinely surprised to see gal.
13:14 --> 13:17 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, could be, could be hard to say.
13:18 --> 13:20 [SPEAKER_01]: But we're not there to talk about that yet.
13:21 --> 13:22 [SPEAKER_01]: I want to do one little critique.
13:22 --> 13:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I did not think that they made Michael Jen feel a different enough from like the trans order.
13:28 --> 13:29 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the just a area.
13:30 --> 13:37 [SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think it felt very different, but I mean, in the part where day is is driving around.
13:38 --> 13:47 [SPEAKER_01]: I think perhaps perhaps in the landscape sure you did something different, but it was like, all right, all right, we're in another city street and he's running his motorcycle down another city street.
13:48 --> 13:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, but you see, originally, Micogen was the ground level with the sky open to it.
13:54 --> 13:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right, right.
13:55 --> 14:03 [SPEAKER_03]: You have to remember that they're going to build successive layers of city streets and whatnot over the thousands of years or however long it's been.
14:03 --> 14:09 [SPEAKER_03]: So I wasn't really expecting it to look really different, like, you know,
14:10 --> 14:16 [SPEAKER_03]: caves in the French Pyrenees or something, but just, you know, one more layer of city.
14:17 --> 14:18 [SPEAKER_03]: So, but it's an interesting point.
14:18 --> 14:23 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I didn't really remind me of any of the part of the Trento, but let's face it.
14:23 --> 14:28 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't really know how many other parts of Trento are we've actually seen except the underground ones.
14:28 --> 14:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
14:29 --> 14:36 [SPEAKER_01]: And I just want to say on Demosel, I don't know if she is underestimating this day.
14:37 --> 14:41 [SPEAKER_01]: because she says, will not see him again, and he won't, he won't bother us.
14:41 --> 14:43 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that surprised me.
14:43 --> 14:45 [SPEAKER_01]: I think he will bother you.
14:45 --> 14:47 [SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely do think he'll bother you.
14:48 --> 14:52 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, she may think, all right, he's finally found a way to check out and that's the end of it.
14:52 --> 14:54 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
14:54 --> 14:54 [SPEAKER_01]: And Jason, right?
14:54 --> 15:00 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what she assumes he's doing because he's done a really good job of playing this, this fool.
15:00 --> 15:01 [SPEAKER_01]: And
15:03 --> 15:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, she kind of, I think, sees the Cleans as these fools that she loves and she harbored.
15:09 --> 15:18 [SPEAKER_01]: And she raises and she, you know, I don't think that she thinks very highly in terms of their intelligence and their wherewithal.
15:18 --> 15:26 [SPEAKER_03]: And the maturity, you know, definitely childlike in her, you know, however many, that thousands of years lies.
15:28 --> 15:40 [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, maybe she is, but that or maybe that dismissal was just on the half of her own particular officers and whatnot to not lead them to explore any further.
15:41 --> 15:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and it could be that she thinks like, all right, maybe he is planning something big, but this empire is going to fall faster than he can do anything.
15:47 --> 15:49 [SPEAKER_01]: So that's an excellent job.
15:49 --> 15:50 [SPEAKER_01]: It might not matter.
15:51 --> 15:57 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, I mean, unless again, she's got this amazing idea of connecting with
15:58 --> 16:00 [SPEAKER_03]: the foundations, right?
16:01 --> 16:03 [SPEAKER_03]: She still convinced that we're talking about it.
16:03 --> 16:05 [SPEAKER_03]: If we're meant anyway, so what's the deal?
16:08 --> 16:16 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, so let's go on to a short scene on new terminus, where Han Pritcher reports the mayor in Burr who ignores the warnings about the muil and imprisoned Pritcher.
16:17 --> 16:20 [SPEAKER_01]: In Burr worries about the capture of Magnifico by the Malose.
16:22 --> 16:28 [SPEAKER_03]: Could in Burr be even more oblivious that he already is.
16:29 --> 16:30 [SPEAKER_01]: that he's very stupid.
16:30 --> 16:36 [SPEAKER_01]: But again, like, he is, and I think you mentioned this to me before I even read this part, but like, he's pretty book accurate.
16:36 --> 16:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, that is just... Yeah, that's right.
16:38 --> 16:41 [SPEAKER_01]: At this point, the mayors of the foundation have become feckless.
16:42 --> 16:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
16:43 --> 16:49 [SPEAKER_03]: And also, you know, mayors by inheritance and their dynasties now, and so on.
16:49 --> 16:55 [SPEAKER_03]: And it's, yeah, it's an excellent sign of how fall the foundation is fallen from the days of, you know,
16:56 --> 17:00 [SPEAKER_03]: the Homer Malose and the Silver Hardens and all of that.
17:00 --> 17:13 [SPEAKER_01]: And we know based on what Gell was saying and haunt to last episode that they're supposed to be civil war between foundation and the traders, which is the, you know, progress the foundation to the next stage.
17:14 --> 17:14 [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
17:14 --> 17:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Question is what's going on with that?
17:17 --> 17:19 [SPEAKER_01]: We know Randy is hungry for it.
17:19 --> 17:19 [SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
17:19 --> 17:23 [SPEAKER_03]: But there's so many variables now that it will be interesting to see
17:24 --> 17:27 [SPEAKER_03]: what sort of tapestry they weave with them.
17:27 --> 17:30 [SPEAKER_01]: How long you think Hans is going to last in this prison with the second foundation powers?
17:30 --> 17:33 [SPEAKER_03]: Interesting question.
17:34 --> 17:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Does he want them to be revealed?
17:37 --> 17:51 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, the woman who had been this former partner who wanted intimacy with him and who, by the way, removes Gail's pendant from him, says to him, don't even try to get out of here because you trained me.
17:52 --> 17:54 [SPEAKER_03]: And I know everything that you know now.
17:54 --> 17:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Of course, one could think, yeah, I'm sure he told you absolutely everything.
17:58 --> 18:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Aha, hmm, right there.
18:00 --> 18:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Right, secure that way.
18:01 --> 18:10 [SPEAKER_03]: So, you know, it could be that he built one more little escape hatch in this seemingly impregnable prison room.
18:11 --> 18:13 [SPEAKER_03]: I just think that.
18:13 --> 18:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I think if he got out, it would not be.
18:16 --> 18:18 [SPEAKER_01]: People wouldn't assume he's a mentality, right?
18:18 --> 18:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Because they don't even know that these people exist.
18:20 --> 18:23 [SPEAKER_01]: The closest they know that exists is the mule based on rumor.
18:24 --> 18:27 [SPEAKER_01]: You don't assume that anybody else, they have no idea about this recommendation.
18:28 --> 18:38 [SPEAKER_03]: And because they know that Honest Chief of Security, he built the whole system in the beginning where I think he's like kind of a conclusion that I put forth, which is, oh yeah, well, he obviously built his own little loopholes throughout.
18:38 --> 18:41 [SPEAKER_01]: It wouldn't be in the top hundred reasons he got out, right?
18:41 --> 18:43 [SPEAKER_03]: So it's probably not.
18:43 --> 18:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's really risking finding out.
18:47 --> 18:55 [SPEAKER_03]: And that's pretty much one difference between the book series and the TV series as I think you've already pointed out that
18:57 --> 19:02 [SPEAKER_03]: The foundation, first foundation doesn't know of the existence of the second foundation.
19:02 --> 19:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Correct.
19:03 --> 19:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Correct.
19:04 --> 19:10 [SPEAKER_03]: So it'll be interesting again to see what trajectory that produces, that takes in an intersection of the books.
19:10 --> 19:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Even at this stage in the books, the first foundation knew about the second foundation but had no idea that they were mentalics.
19:18 --> 19:18 [SPEAKER_03]: True.
19:19 --> 19:19 [SPEAKER_03]: True.
19:20 --> 19:22 [SPEAKER_03]: I think then you're there with psychologists though.
19:22 --> 19:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they knew that they were psycho historians, but they didn't know that they had developed that into like powers.
19:28 --> 19:28 [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
19:29 --> 19:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
19:32 --> 19:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
19:33 --> 19:38 [SPEAKER_01]: And then the also the show is very cute, where like the books just take psychologists, right?
19:38 --> 19:40 [SPEAKER_01]: You practice psycho history, but you're a psychologist.
19:41 --> 19:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
19:41 --> 19:44 [SPEAKER_01]: But the show's like, that doesn't sound mysterious enough.
19:44 --> 19:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Let's call it psycho historians.
19:48 --> 19:53 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, you know, the academics types include my self in this lover titles.
19:55 --> 19:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
19:56 --> 19:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we all love a good title.
19:58 --> 19:59 [SPEAKER_03]: I think so.
19:59 --> 20:00 [SPEAKER_03]: I think so.
20:01 --> 20:06 [SPEAKER_01]: So why don't we take a quick break before we go back to meet the mallows?
20:27 --> 20:31 [SPEAKER_01]: We're back ready to go to Haven when Sweetheart can't make it to Tune Terminus.
20:32 --> 20:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Tornin struggles to find a new destination for the ship.
20:35 --> 20:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Magnifico plays his visus sonar, and Tornin realizes they can land on Haven in his homeworld where they're promptly shocked down.
20:43 --> 20:52 [SPEAKER_01]: There, the crumudially randu-mallow bonds with his new niece-in-law, who tells him she wants to use Magnifico's power of song as a bargaining chip with a foundation.
20:52 --> 20:56 [SPEAKER_01]: We learn more about the tragic history of Randu and Toran.
20:56 --> 20:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so now it's Uncle Randu to the rescue, which is an interesting twist.
21:01 --> 21:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think so.
21:02 --> 21:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I like this Randu.
21:03 --> 21:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I think this is, first of all, a very book actor.
21:06 --> 21:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
21:07 --> 21:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely.
21:08 --> 21:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, but, you know, I, I, we all know somebody like this, right?
21:11 --> 21:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Like a cramogenely guy, a cramogenely old man with like a heart of gold.
21:16 --> 21:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh gosh, yes.
21:18 --> 21:20 [SPEAKER_03]: It's a classic trip from a lot of Westerns.
21:20 --> 21:28 [SPEAKER_03]: I keep thinking Western throughout this whole discourse about the, you know, the treasured family heirlooms and the drinking and all the rest of it.
21:28 --> 21:31 [SPEAKER_03]: And, you know, I really think you're tough enough, and all that kind of stuff.
21:31 --> 21:31 [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
21:32 --> 21:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I have so found myself wondering, just what percentage of the time does Thor and actually wear a shirt?
21:38 --> 21:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh my gosh, I had the same thought.
21:40 --> 21:42 [SPEAKER_01]: I just get a little old.
21:43 --> 21:47 [SPEAKER_01]: And anyone in the audience who plays the Final Fantasy game series, I don't know if you're familiar.
21:47 --> 21:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think so.
21:48 --> 21:49 [SPEAKER_05]: No, no.
21:49 --> 21:51 [SPEAKER_01]: He looks like a protagonist from Final Fantasy.
21:52 --> 21:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Just like the hair, the ripped muscles, the never shirt.
21:56 --> 22:00 [SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like he do really well as a protagonist of a Final Fantasy game.
22:01 --> 22:02 [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Redfoot.
22:02 --> 22:06 [SPEAKER_01]: But yes, I was actually going to make the description this week.
22:06 --> 22:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Now I can't do that.
22:06 --> 22:08 [SPEAKER_01]: I was going to make the show description this week.
22:09 --> 22:11 [SPEAKER_01]: John and Marilyn help Torrin find a shirt in this lake.
22:14 --> 22:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, well, at least you got it in the episode.
22:17 --> 22:17 [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
22:17 --> 22:18 [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
22:18 --> 22:29 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think more than like ten people read the show description anyway, because I know you do because you're, you know, you're on the episode, but but I don't think a lot of people actually read the show description.
22:29 --> 22:34 [SPEAKER_03]: John, I like to read the show description because every week I want to see what clever way you know.
22:35 --> 22:37 [SPEAKER_01]: I've blown my whole wad though.
22:37 --> 22:38 [SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
22:38 --> 22:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Like I have no more, no more in me.
22:41 --> 22:43 [SPEAKER_03]: No, I think I think you have undiscovered depths.
22:43 --> 22:44 [SPEAKER_03]: No, we're meeting.
22:44 --> 22:45 [SPEAKER_03]: I think that's just the the flu talking.
22:46 --> 22:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, fair enough.
22:47 --> 22:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
22:47 --> 22:54 [SPEAKER_03]: No, actually one could almost assume that he's required by contract to be shirtless and at least one seen it.
22:54 --> 22:55 [SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
22:55 --> 22:57 [SPEAKER_03]: At least one time, however, love is right.
22:57 --> 23:02 [SPEAKER_03]: Now where the he required it or the show counters required it, that's, you know, that's up to you to decide.
23:02 --> 23:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Why not both?
23:04 --> 23:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Why not both?
23:06 --> 23:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it is nice to see, you know, we have a couple where for once it's not the woman being objectified as much.
23:19 --> 23:24 [SPEAKER_03]: So it's interesting that Randy is so opposed to the notion of marriage.
23:25 --> 23:26 [SPEAKER_03]: And I wonder what's behind all that.
23:26 --> 23:30 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, granted he has an unknown number of bastards out in the universe.
23:30 --> 23:36 [SPEAKER_03]: So clearly, he's not really concerned about absence of marriage.
23:37 --> 23:39 [SPEAKER_03]: But is that the only reason why he's so down on it?
23:39 --> 23:40 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
23:40 --> 23:43 [SPEAKER_03]: It just seems kind of odd to me.
23:43 --> 23:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I just think that that marriage just like isn't a thing right now.
23:46 --> 23:49 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I did enjoy when she calls.
23:50 --> 23:57 [SPEAKER_01]: When he calls, when Randy calls, beta, Torrance husband, you picked a good husband.
23:57 --> 24:01 [SPEAKER_01]: And it took me a minute to think like, oh, is he saying complimenting his nephew?
24:01 --> 24:03 [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no.
24:03 --> 24:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Can't you direct compliment to the nephew?
24:06 --> 24:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Instead, he's accidentally getting the term wrong.
24:09 --> 24:12 [SPEAKER_03]: No, I think he's deliberately, you know.
24:13 --> 24:15 [SPEAKER_03]: kneeling him, but at first I thought, oh, that's nice.
24:15 --> 24:21 [SPEAKER_03]: He's beginning to soften because he thinks Torren is showing good taste in choosing, and none of that.
24:22 --> 24:24 [SPEAKER_03]: Now he's, he's just using another way to disobey him.
24:26 --> 24:30 [SPEAKER_01]: I really, really liked learning about all these character's backstories, too.
24:31 --> 24:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought that really and way to do it.
24:33 --> 24:37 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, first of all, another suggestion.
24:38 --> 24:40 [SPEAKER_01]: And now this is being pointed out to us.
24:40 --> 24:46 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean, twice has been pointed out to us that magnificos, visit sonor, which we now just called that.
24:46 --> 24:48 [SPEAKER_01]: They don't say that in the show, but it's in the subtitle.
24:48 --> 24:49 [SPEAKER_01]: So now I can say that.
24:50 --> 24:55 [SPEAKER_01]: So magnificos, magnificos, maggies, this is sonor.
24:56 --> 25:17 [SPEAKER_01]: can affect emotions that seems like right and so they they think this is either a part of part of the meal thing or related to it who knows as far as the characters in the show are saying and he starts playing again and that's when things warm up right in the room so even as being as talking to Randy about
25:18 --> 25:26 [SPEAKER_01]: about how this is happening, about how she think back to because power of song works, they are, it is working, and they're warming up to each other.
25:26 --> 25:28 [SPEAKER_01]: I think it's really brilliant.
25:28 --> 25:29 [SPEAKER_03]: It's true.
25:29 --> 25:39 [SPEAKER_03]: I hadn't picked up on that particular nuance, but yeah, it's certainly making it trend in the direction that both you are expecting for a while now, huh?
25:40 --> 25:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and I see that the visits sooner or also made some papers fall down in your background.
25:45 --> 25:48 [SPEAKER_03]: More than just papers, yes, the whole Christmas box.
25:48 --> 25:51 [SPEAKER_03]: Unfortunately, I maintain a box throughout the year.
25:51 --> 25:53 [SPEAKER_03]: And when I buy things, I dump them in their shop.
25:54 --> 25:56 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, apologies to all our listeners.
25:56 --> 26:01 [SPEAKER_03]: I'll try and keep my office in better shape, although that's kind of past praying for it.
26:02 --> 26:02 [SPEAKER_01]: That's all right.
26:02 --> 26:03 [SPEAKER_01]: That's all right.
26:03 --> 26:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I'd help you out, but here, but I'm, you know, using our visit so-and-or is to talk right now from across the galaxy.
26:09 --> 26:10 [SPEAKER_03]: That's very sweet if you.
26:10 --> 26:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
26:11 --> 26:22 [SPEAKER_03]: It's also interesting that she still sees him as what she calls him a puppy and that whole diminutive view is, again, very true to the books.
26:22 --> 26:22 [SPEAKER_03]: So again,
26:24 --> 26:26 [SPEAKER_03]: turning the kaleidoscope just a little bit.
26:27 --> 26:28 [SPEAKER_01]: And then these are serious.
26:28 --> 26:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's not interesting that that she sees him as his puppy, but also one with power.
26:33 --> 26:35 [SPEAKER_03]: And I mean, yeah, what do we do?
26:35 --> 26:36 [SPEAKER_01]: We sell a puppy with power.
26:37 --> 26:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, right.
26:38 --> 26:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly.
26:39 --> 26:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Now, okay, just again, just to cure to me now, could Magnifico have planted this idea of himself as a puppy in beta?
26:48 --> 26:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe, I think he, for sure, planted the idea of going to Haven, in Torin.
26:53 --> 26:56 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, yeah, I didn't see it until I read your description.
26:56 --> 26:57 [SPEAKER_03]: And again, I said, oh.
26:57 --> 26:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Torin's like, where do I go?
26:59 --> 26:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Where do I go?
26:59 --> 27:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I'll play my instrument.
27:02 --> 27:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I know where we have to go.
27:03 --> 27:05 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
27:07 --> 27:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, wheels within wheels.
27:09 --> 27:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they're doing a good job demonstrating it.
27:11 --> 27:14 [SPEAKER_01]: That's why like I, I was like, we got to talk about it now.
27:14 --> 27:18 [SPEAKER_01]: This is, you know, explicit at this point.
27:18 --> 27:19 [SPEAKER_03]: It is, it is pretty explicit.
27:20 --> 27:22 [SPEAKER_03]: I really like Beta's backstory.
27:22 --> 27:30 [SPEAKER_03]: I like the origins of her, you know, very tough fiber at the same time.
27:30 --> 27:35 [SPEAKER_03]: Her playfulness or flirtation, all of these kinds of things.
27:36 --> 27:44 [SPEAKER_03]: And how she fits very nicely into, um, Mando's world.
27:44 --> 27:46 [SPEAKER_03]: And it was only a few seconds before Randy said it.
27:47 --> 27:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry, Randy, not Mando.
27:48 --> 27:54 [SPEAKER_03]: It was only a few seconds before Randy said it that I thought, you know, she's everybody as much of a trader as he is.
27:55 --> 27:56 [SPEAKER_03]: And then it says that it's okay.
27:56 --> 27:57 [SPEAKER_03]: Good.
27:57 --> 27:57 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
27:57 --> 28:00 [SPEAKER_03]: All right, follow the direction that they wanted me to go.
28:01 --> 28:05 [SPEAKER_01]: They also did a really good job showing her her hand or, right?
28:06 --> 28:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
28:06 --> 28:10 [SPEAKER_01]: There was this moment where he says, well, as he just brought him on your ladder.
28:11 --> 28:14 [SPEAKER_01]: And she doesn't say, oh, no, he was always the top goal.
28:15 --> 28:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
28:16 --> 28:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought he might be.
28:16 --> 28:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
28:17 --> 28:19 [SPEAKER_01]: But no, actually, like, he's great.
28:19 --> 28:22 [SPEAKER_01]: And we're gonna ride this ladder to the top as best we can.
28:23 --> 28:24 [SPEAKER_03]: And you should think more of your nephew.
28:25 --> 28:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
28:26 --> 28:27 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was really brilliant.
28:27 --> 28:30 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that really made, I think beta is the best character this season so far.
28:31 --> 28:36 [SPEAKER_03]: She's certainly a consistent and, you know, certainly when it serves her, honest.
28:38 --> 28:43 [SPEAKER_03]: And I guess that sort of feeling of not afraid to be exactly who and what she is.
28:44 --> 28:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
28:44 --> 28:49 [SPEAKER_01]: I think Beta, Beta is the best character on the foundation trader side, I would say.
28:51 --> 28:54 [SPEAKER_01]: But I do enjoy the Cleans still.
28:54 --> 28:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm so enjoyed there, Cleans.
28:57 --> 28:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
28:57 --> 28:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
28:57 --> 28:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
28:57 --> 28:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah.
28:57 --> 28:58 [SPEAKER_01]: For sure.
28:58 --> 28:59 [SPEAKER_01]: And all the acting going on over there.
29:00 --> 29:09 [SPEAKER_03]: And yet for all her confidence in seeming contemporary nature, the two of them got married.
29:10 --> 29:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
29:11 --> 29:13 [SPEAKER_03]: So it's an interesting contrast there.
29:13 --> 29:16 [SPEAKER_03]: I wonder if they're going to make anything more of that or just kind of leave it there.
29:17 --> 29:17 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
29:19 --> 29:19 [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows?
29:20 --> 29:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Who knows?
29:21 --> 29:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows?
29:23 --> 29:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they're going to sell Maggie.
29:25 --> 29:26 [SPEAKER_01]: I hope they keep calling him Maggie.
29:26 --> 29:27 [SPEAKER_01]: That's fun.
29:30 --> 29:31 [SPEAKER_03]: And it's easier than saying me to go.
29:32 --> 29:33 [SPEAKER_01]: That's a magnifico.
29:34 --> 29:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, too.
29:35 --> 29:36 [SPEAKER_01]: We do both mean our opposite every time it comes up.
29:37 --> 29:39 [SPEAKER_03]: Probably not since I don't know it, but you go ahead.
29:40 --> 29:41 [SPEAKER_03]: You don't know both he and Rhapsody.
29:42 --> 29:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Sorry.
29:43 --> 29:43 [SPEAKER_03]: Wait, hold on.
29:44 --> 29:44 [SPEAKER_03]: Hold on.
29:44 --> 29:51 [SPEAKER_03]: I know the original Bohemian Rhapsody that was at Brahmsburg, or one of the nineteenth century classical composer.
29:52 --> 29:55 [SPEAKER_01]: You're talking to tell me you've never heard both he and Rhapsody by Queen.
29:57 --> 29:58 [SPEAKER_03]: But that is true, John.
29:58 --> 29:59 [SPEAKER_03]: That is a literal fact.
30:00 --> 30:02 [SPEAKER_03]: If I have read, I didn't know.
30:02 --> 30:03 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's put it that way.
30:03 --> 30:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Mark, Mark, from Nevermind the music.
30:06 --> 30:11 [SPEAKER_01]: If you're listening to this, please invite Marilyn on the show to listen to Bowie Minorhapsody for the first time.
30:11 --> 30:12 [SPEAKER_01]: That's the whole episode.
30:13 --> 30:14 [SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to do anything else.
30:14 --> 30:15 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, please, I'm not interested in it.
30:15 --> 30:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Just give me her live reaction to Bowie Minorhapsody.
30:19 --> 30:20 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not interesting enough.
30:21 --> 30:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
30:21 --> 30:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Mark and Nicole, you've heard me.
30:23 --> 30:24 [SPEAKER_01]: You've heard my requests.
30:24 --> 30:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
30:26 --> 30:29 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, I can't move on with the episode from that.
30:29 --> 30:31 [SPEAKER_01]: That was mind-blowing to me.
30:32 --> 30:33 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, take a deep breath, John.
30:35 --> 30:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, all right.
30:36 --> 30:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Better?
30:36 --> 30:39 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, I'm just a poor boy.
30:39 --> 30:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Nobody loves me.
30:41 --> 30:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh.
30:41 --> 30:43 [SPEAKER_01]: That's what Rahimi and Rhapsody.
30:43 --> 30:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I figured you would have gotten that reference if you had known the song.
30:46 --> 30:47 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
30:47 --> 30:48 [SPEAKER_03]: John, I had a clue.
30:49 --> 30:49 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
30:50 --> 30:50 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
30:52 --> 30:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Blackmail time.
30:54 --> 30:56 [SPEAKER_03]: Uh-oh, you can't blackmail me on this.
30:56 --> 30:57 [SPEAKER_03]: Nope, it's out there for all the world to know.
30:58 --> 30:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Too late.
31:00 --> 31:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Dawn awakens on Gale's ship, where she reveals the power of the second foundation.
31:05 --> 31:12 [SPEAKER_01]: He records a message to dusk and learns about Selver Harden's, as I go before the arrival on Clarion Station.
31:13 --> 31:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Gale helps Dawn blackmail Vinod Tarris, I hope I'm saying that right.
31:19 --> 31:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Of the Galactic Council,
31:21 --> 31:27 [SPEAKER_01]: But after planting the evidence, Dawn shows his mercilessness by killing Tarasks a fair partner who overheard their struggle.
31:29 --> 31:30 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
31:32 --> 31:34 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, his direct quote, I'm a client.
31:34 --> 31:36 [SPEAKER_03]: We weren't raised to be kind.
31:36 --> 31:37 [SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
31:37 --> 31:39 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, what else are you going to ask from them?
31:40 --> 31:45 [SPEAKER_03]: And see my previous piece, the previous episode from my earlier thoughts about one day.
31:48 --> 31:48 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know.
31:49 --> 31:53 [SPEAKER_01]: I saw I got a little flack for saying the day was still compassionate.
31:54 --> 31:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm going to stick by it.
31:56 --> 31:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm going to double down.
31:57 --> 31:58 [SPEAKER_01]: You need John.
31:59 --> 32:04 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, I think we'll get more feedback if if I do that, which we haven't gotten a lot of feedback this season.
32:04 --> 32:07 [SPEAKER_01]: And like our numbers are similar to last season.
32:07 --> 32:08 [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't know what's going on.
32:08 --> 32:09 [SPEAKER_01]: People just aren't chatting with us.
32:10 --> 32:15 [SPEAKER_01]: So, if you want to send me back, remember, empyrethelorhounds.com and you can chat with us.
32:15 --> 32:18 [SPEAKER_01]: I think at this point, we're probably just going to do a season wrap-up feedback.
32:18 --> 32:26 [SPEAKER_01]: So, since some stuff in, I know the discord is chattering, but- Oh, yeah, discord is definitely- But you got to send it in on email if you want me to read it on air.
32:28 --> 32:30 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, okay, maybe some people in discord don't know that.
32:30 --> 32:31 [SPEAKER_03]: So, yes, discord.
32:31 --> 32:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it could be the case.
32:33 --> 32:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Nancy spoiled them.
32:34 --> 32:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Convert yourselves to emailers, okay?
32:37 --> 32:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we're going to old tech with us.
32:40 --> 32:41 [SPEAKER_01]: We've lost our spacers.
32:42 --> 32:44 [SPEAKER_01]: We've got to go back to jail.
32:46 --> 32:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you for not saying we have, you know, an almost seven-year-old person here, so we got to be kind.
32:50 --> 32:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we just lost our spacers.
32:52 --> 32:53 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just hanging in universe here.
32:54 --> 32:54 [SPEAKER_03]: I know.
32:54 --> 32:55 [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
32:55 --> 32:55 [SPEAKER_03]: That's what.
32:56 --> 32:59 [SPEAKER_03]: So, Gale has a zygode of cell wars.
33:01 --> 33:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Do you think cell war may be coming back to the show sometime?
33:04 --> 33:04 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
33:05 --> 33:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Or will the actor be returning in the role of their own daughter?
33:09 --> 33:10 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm watching.
33:11 --> 33:15 [SPEAKER_01]: I was to say, I know you would hate that if I would love that.
33:16 --> 33:18 [SPEAKER_03]: But why else are they appearing in here?
33:18 --> 33:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Why else are they putting it in here, John?
33:21 --> 33:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Why do we need to know?
33:24 --> 33:26 [SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be so cheap.
33:26 --> 33:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
33:28 --> 33:33 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm sorry to imagine, it's hard to imagine how they might do that that wouldn't be kind of cringy.
33:34 --> 33:34 [SPEAKER_03]: What?
33:35 --> 33:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, we are getting, we are getting a walking dead showrunner next.
33:40 --> 33:46 [SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's actually, is it, if you're the walking dead, I don't know.
33:46 --> 33:48 [SPEAKER_01]: You know what, it might be good.
33:48 --> 33:58 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to judge it before it comes out, but I'm just going to say that universe has not been known to always stick with the highest quality storytelling.
33:59 --> 34:02 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, hopefully there will be others who have been there from the get-go and that will rain in.
34:03 --> 34:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
34:03 --> 34:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
34:04 --> 34:04 [SPEAKER_03]: The greater.
34:04 --> 34:08 [SPEAKER_01]: And, and you know, like I said, maybe maybe the showrunners can do a great job on this.
34:08 --> 34:10 [SPEAKER_01]: I, I walk in with no pre-judgment.
34:12 --> 34:12 [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
34:13 --> 34:13 [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
34:13 --> 34:15 [SPEAKER_01]: But the season will still keep on the goyer show this season.
34:16 --> 34:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
34:16 --> 34:17 [SPEAKER_03]: It makes me curious.
34:17 --> 34:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
34:18 --> 34:19 [SPEAKER_03]: What they might be planning to do with it.
34:21 --> 34:26 [SPEAKER_03]: It's something about looking particularly from the outside at the beggar, the ship, the scale ship.
34:28 --> 34:30 [SPEAKER_03]: It makes me hope that future tech isn't quite that ugly.
34:31 --> 34:37 [SPEAKER_03]: And it certainly doesn't appear to be in any way, you know, streamlined, air slip, whatever.
34:37 --> 34:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Now maybe because it's all jump technology, it doesn't have to be, but I don't know.
34:41 --> 34:45 [SPEAKER_03]: It just looks odd to me.
34:46 --> 34:46 [SPEAKER_03]: What can I say?
34:47 --> 34:49 [SPEAKER_03]: On the other hand, it is very distinguishable.
34:49 --> 34:52 [SPEAKER_03]: So maybe that's part of the reason when they had that particular design.
34:52 --> 34:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, it's a retrofit, right?
34:54 --> 34:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, it's, it's actually, originally, do the subspace thing.
34:57 --> 34:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
34:58 --> 35:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper, whisper, yeah.
35:00 --> 35:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
35:00 --> 35:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
35:02 --> 35:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I, all these universes have all these different names for the same thing.
35:05 --> 35:07 [SPEAKER_01]: So I have to, I have to be careful.
35:07 --> 35:12 [SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I think it just is gonna look, it's like the Millennium Falcon, right?
35:12 --> 35:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Like it's kind of it's charm, isn't it?
35:15 --> 35:33 [SPEAKER_03]: put together to not put together does I suppose and maybe one of the reasons why it looks that way is because they want to impress upon us that it's actually you know several hundred years old so I wouldn't it look more clucking next to the more recent you know smooth stream line
35:35 --> 35:35 [SPEAKER_03]: technology.
35:36 --> 35:42 [SPEAKER_01]: See, I think it would raise eyebrows on a foundation planet, but not on an imperial planet, because- That's a good point.
35:42 --> 35:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
35:42 --> 35:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Empire has not advanced, and foundation has.
35:46 --> 35:48 [SPEAKER_01]: If foundation would be like, why are you still flying this?
35:48 --> 35:48 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
35:50 --> 35:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, other than sentiment, and the fact that it's the only one available to her.
35:55 --> 35:56 [SPEAKER_01]: They're always BP.
35:56 --> 35:56 [SPEAKER_01]: I find us too.
35:56 --> 35:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Right, true cars, right?
35:57 --> 35:59 [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good point.
35:59 --> 36:03 [SPEAKER_03]: Classic cars, classic ships, classic spaceships.
36:04 --> 36:08 [SPEAKER_01]: I was just, I was just looking at, uh, what are they?
36:08 --> 36:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Amphacars.
36:10 --> 36:13 [SPEAKER_01]: They are, they are the cars that can go like seven miles an hour in the water.
36:15 --> 36:16 [SPEAKER_01]: You ever see these?
36:17 --> 36:21 [SPEAKER_01]: No, there's real things in the seventies and they only made them like the seventies and eighties.
36:22 --> 36:23 [SPEAKER_01]: It costs a ton of money.
36:23 --> 36:24 [SPEAKER_01]: They cost like fifty k.
36:26 --> 36:48 [SPEAKER_01]: and they they had a propeller on the back and they were going in so you could you could drive into the water and then go seven miles an hour you could only go in fresh water because salt water would rust it super fast it was you got to look these up you got everybody look them up uh... so i'm just saying there's there's a market for everything put something in the show notes okay
36:51 --> 37:02 [SPEAKER_03]: So Donna is skilking around and over large hooded robe, which is really not very good concealment, particularly the imperial bling, just still kind of shows up.
37:03 --> 37:09 [SPEAKER_03]: And it just reminded me too much of Obi-Wan, and if jaw was, and it was just, I don't know.
37:10 --> 37:14 [SPEAKER_03]: And Gale, he is becoming a day, he is he not?
37:16 --> 37:17 [SPEAKER_03]: It's really kind of extraordinary.
37:17 --> 37:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, for sure.
37:19 --> 37:34 [SPEAKER_03]: I also, I liked the method of casting votes in the council chamber with the lights that flash, you know, they hold them up, that their badges are also voting devices and they hold them up in their hands and the light shows, you know, either yes or no.
37:35 --> 37:38 [SPEAKER_03]: And at first I thought, oh, that's nice because they're hiding their votes and I'm being see it.
37:38 --> 37:41 [SPEAKER_03]: And then I see no, they're all turning around to see what it reals to saying.
37:41 --> 37:46 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, well, human behavior hasn't changed that much in all of these centuries, though.
37:48 --> 37:48 [SPEAKER_01]: Whatever.
37:50 --> 37:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
37:50 --> 37:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Also, I don't think legislators should be able to hide their votes.
37:54 --> 37:55 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, people people should know what they're referring to.
37:55 --> 37:56 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't either.
37:56 --> 37:56 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't either.
37:56 --> 37:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't even have voted.
37:58 --> 37:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah.
37:59 --> 38:05 [SPEAKER_03]: Um, and, you know, in terms of coalition building, whatever you need to see how your colleagues should know.
38:05 --> 38:08 [SPEAKER_03]: I guess I'm, I've come still coming from the world of Conqueror.
38:09 --> 38:13 [SPEAKER_01]: It's all very, very, very, very, very, very kind of like can do whatever they want with their hats.
38:14 --> 38:18 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, the head gear is quite a startlingly.
38:18 --> 38:19 [SPEAKER_01]: There we go, isn't it?
38:20 --> 38:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
38:21 --> 38:23 [SPEAKER_01]: But this isn't a misdaveous pod.
38:24 --> 38:26 [SPEAKER_01]: This is a whole other sci-fi universe.
38:26 --> 38:27 [SPEAKER_01]: It's not even a sci-fi universe.
38:27 --> 38:29 [SPEAKER_03]: It's not even a sci-fi universe.
38:30 --> 38:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Is this a status?
38:31 --> 38:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think it's borderline sci-fi.
38:34 --> 38:35 [SPEAKER_01]: It's like a sci-fansy.
38:35 --> 38:37 [SPEAKER_03]: I think it's supposed to be our world.
38:37 --> 38:38 [SPEAKER_03]: You make, I might go with you.
38:39 --> 38:42 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but there's definitely some like, maybe it's absurdist.
38:42 --> 38:46 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, we don't have to go too deep into this.
38:46 --> 38:48 [SPEAKER_03]: Gabby on my case, what does he do?
38:49 --> 38:49 [SPEAKER_03]: magical realism.
38:49 --> 38:50 [SPEAKER_03]: That's it.
38:50 --> 38:51 [SPEAKER_03]: I think it's magical realism.
38:51 --> 38:53 [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I think we digress.
38:55 --> 38:56 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
38:56 --> 38:57 [SPEAKER_01]: So the next point.
38:58 --> 38:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, of course.
38:59 --> 39:01 [SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, I just want to say.
39:02 --> 39:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't feel badly for Taros at all, but I do feel badly for his family.
39:05 --> 39:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, my God.
39:07 --> 39:07 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm with you.
39:08 --> 39:14 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that they deliberately, I thought it was actually really smart before we go into the next part.
39:14 --> 39:25 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought it was really smart that they had that affair partner be killed because it did two things in one shot, you know, for better or worse.
39:26 --> 39:26 [SPEAKER_01]: It was a shot.
39:27 --> 39:33 [SPEAKER_01]: It showed that Dawn was a Clion and was cold and could be calculating what need be.
39:33 --> 39:37 [SPEAKER_01]: And it showed that we don't have to feel badly for terrorists, right?
39:37 --> 39:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Like it took away our sympathy for him in the next second.
39:41 --> 39:44 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think that is a brilliant way to tell a story.
39:44 --> 39:48 [SPEAKER_01]: You are doing double duty on one pop point due to emotional things.
39:50 --> 39:51 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's interesting.
39:52 --> 39:54 [SPEAKER_03]: I see what you're saying, and I think probably that isn't excellent reading.
39:54 --> 40:07 [SPEAKER_03]: I also thinking that given the society in which he lives in the mind there and so forth from his own perspective, he's not doing anything that is not in common and that everybody else isn't doing.
40:08 --> 40:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Obviously not a reason for doing it if you hold as I do certainly, and it sounds like you do with the idea that, yeah, when you're married, it means something.
40:18 --> 40:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think that this was a an unsenctioned affair based on the fact that she was hiding.
40:24 --> 40:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Wasn't like show.
40:25 --> 40:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, Clion, here's my, you know, my mistress, you know.
40:29 --> 40:31 [SPEAKER_03]: Use my latest, you know, my latest cuddle.
40:32 --> 40:33 [SPEAKER_01]: What are they doing?
40:36 --> 40:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, on the other hand, once she realized it was Empire out there, she would have been scared out of her mind.
40:43 --> 40:53 [SPEAKER_03]: So, if the circumstance, she might have wandered out and said, oh, hi, and, you know, just gone away, but Empire, hmm, probably not.
40:53 --> 40:54 [SPEAKER_03]: So, who knows?
40:56 --> 40:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm going to use it to make myself feel better about terrorists.
40:58 --> 40:59 [SPEAKER_03]: You go right ahead.
41:00 --> 41:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, I do feel badly about it.
41:01 --> 41:02 [SPEAKER_01]: It's a family though.
41:02 --> 41:03 [SPEAKER_01]: And let's let's get to the next.
41:04 --> 41:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
41:04 --> 41:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, all right.
41:05 --> 41:07 [SPEAKER_01]: So there's a betrayal next.
41:07 --> 41:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Dawn succeeds in blackmailing terrorists and forcing about to put an enclosure around Calgan.
41:13 --> 41:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Once the imperial forces get there, the meal reveals he already took a jump.
41:17 --> 41:20 [SPEAKER_01]: and uses it to destroy both Calgon and the Imperial Fleet.
41:20 --> 41:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Gail guides Dawn in an escape, and when confronted, admits that she needed Empire to fall faster, create a target for the Mule.
41:28 --> 41:35 [SPEAKER_01]: With a space suit on, Dawn survives an altercation with Tara's only to be blown into space with his fate unknown.
41:36 --> 41:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, Demosel says hello to Gail aboard the beggar.
41:42 --> 41:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, yeah, because I wasn't expecting them or so.
41:46 --> 41:47 [SPEAKER_03]: They, they didn't know I wasn't either.
41:47 --> 41:50 [SPEAKER_03]: That, that, that, that was smooth.
41:50 --> 41:52 [SPEAKER_03]: That was a really smooth.
41:52 --> 41:56 [SPEAKER_01]: This was such a smart writing episode, and I, and I, I love that.
41:56 --> 41:57 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
41:58 --> 42:03 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, I was almost on a percent certain that the meal would have left Calgon system the minute
42:04 --> 42:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Did he spoke with Empire and obtained the jump cake?
42:07 --> 42:08 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, so was the hell.
42:09 --> 42:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
42:10 --> 42:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, she goes, I wasn't totally sure, which means she was ninety nine point nine nine nine nine percent sure he left.
42:15 --> 42:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Right, right, right.
42:17 --> 42:22 [SPEAKER_03]: But at the same time, it really seems like a huge oversight.
42:22 --> 42:24 [SPEAKER_03]: And everybody else thought it was true, too.
42:26 --> 42:27 [SPEAKER_03]: That he was still there.
42:27 --> 42:28 [SPEAKER_03]: And so, yeah, okay, let's go.
42:28 --> 42:30 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, Dawn bought it.
42:32 --> 42:33 [SPEAKER_03]: without a second thought.
42:33 --> 42:35 [SPEAKER_01]: So, you know.
42:35 --> 42:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Were any of them influenced by the second foundation members?
42:39 --> 42:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, that becomes more and more of a question, doesn't it?
42:41 --> 43:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Which is kind of unfortunate because again, little hand-wavey kind of in a way, but of course we were told very early on in this season that one of the things that second foundation has been doing has been seeding the galaxy with their members.
43:01 --> 43:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I'd be able to pay for it.
43:03 --> 43:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it makes sense.
43:05 --> 43:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Like nudging just enough votes to put the English run.
43:08 --> 43:12 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a believable plausible second foundation activity.
43:13 --> 43:13 [SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
43:13 --> 43:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
43:14 --> 43:24 [SPEAKER_03]: And particularly for one of the discord people who knows exactly what I'm talking about, unless now that Calgon was taken away, it can no longer take anybody else away.
43:26 --> 43:52 [SPEAKER_03]: I've heard that in the late sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixties, I've heard that in the sixt
43:53 --> 43:56 [SPEAKER_03]: Or is he just digging the knife a little deeper into Don?
43:56 --> 43:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Is there some further?
43:58 --> 44:02 [SPEAKER_01]: I just read this as an abusive partner is look what you made me do.
44:03 --> 44:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, it's absolutely not.
44:04 --> 44:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, like I don't think that was really strategic.
44:07 --> 44:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
44:08 --> 44:08 [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
44:09 --> 44:16 [SPEAKER_03]: And I was totally futile by Gale taking on Don's form so that Don could escape.
44:16 --> 44:17 [SPEAKER_04]: Mm-hmm.
44:19 --> 44:27 [SPEAKER_03]: And then you have Gail along with her second vendation or directing down to the airlock with the space gate, which makes perfect sense.
44:28 --> 44:30 [SPEAKER_03]: And then the long game is revealed.
44:30 --> 44:32 [SPEAKER_03]: Holy cow.
44:33 --> 44:35 [SPEAKER_03]: You know, Gail says, I lied to you.
44:35 --> 44:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Empire needs to get smaller and die out.
44:39 --> 44:40 [SPEAKER_03]: That was always going to be.
44:41 --> 44:45 [SPEAKER_03]: But Empire has grown a little stronger with the aid of the Prime Radiant, hello.
44:46 --> 44:49 [SPEAKER_03]: And Foundation has grown a bit weaker than Selden's necessary predictions.
44:49 --> 44:51 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay.
44:51 --> 44:55 [SPEAKER_03]: In order to bring the plan back on track, Foundation had to be the largest power.
44:56 --> 45:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Empire had to fall to the mill so that Foundation could contain him on transfer.
45:00 --> 45:06 [SPEAKER_03]: They keep talking about containing him, I mean, I don't know, and control all the resource planets.
45:08 --> 45:18 [SPEAKER_03]: And yet it seems that she wants Dawn to keep on living because she's, you know, showing that he's refusing to go along with her anymore and it's completely rejecting her.
45:18 --> 45:20 [SPEAKER_03]: She says, you can only hate me if you live.
45:21 --> 45:26 [SPEAKER_03]: So is she trying to dislodge her own guilt or did she still have further plans for her?
45:29 --> 45:30 [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good question.
45:30 --> 45:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
45:33 --> 45:35 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't think she really needs Dawn anymore.
45:36 --> 45:36 [SPEAKER_01]: to be honest with you.
45:36 --> 45:44 [SPEAKER_01]: I think she's she has now put the fatal blow and empire and that's what you needed this dawn for is to help him bring down the empire.
45:44 --> 45:48 [SPEAKER_01]: But you know you never know you never know maybe she did have something else.
45:49 --> 45:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Or I could just be you know her natural humanity coming through and yeah.
45:54 --> 45:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I think you can at least have a decent regular life right.
46:00 --> 46:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and this leads me to suspect that one of the reasons why Gail doesn't want to take close relationships with mentalists in particular is because she doesn't want them to see how incredibly ruthless she both can and must be.
46:12 --> 46:17 [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm thinking, yeah, like master like people, you know, she didn't learn this in the vacuum.
46:18 --> 46:20 [SPEAKER_03]: She's very much like Harry Seldon in that regard.
46:21 --> 46:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
46:22 --> 46:27 [SPEAKER_03]: But when the fate of all the people, the galaxy is at stake, I guess, you know, you do what you got to do.
46:29 --> 46:38 [SPEAKER_03]: And I kind of hope that at some point preem will have some comforting words for her, because I really don't think she enjoys any of this.
46:39 --> 46:47 [SPEAKER_03]: And it's all done on a necessity and contrary to her, her normal inclinations and tensions, whatever.
46:50 --> 46:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think she's having a tough time.
46:53 --> 46:54 [SPEAKER_01]: And where's Harry Selbin?
46:55 --> 46:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Have we checked him for a while?
46:56 --> 46:58 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's just gone.
46:58 --> 47:02 [SPEAKER_03]: He's gone unless you're talking Voltaery, which is not the same as, you know.
47:03 --> 47:04 [SPEAKER_01]: No, and real no.
47:04 --> 47:06 [SPEAKER_01]: We want to get him, right?
47:06 --> 47:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Because Harry gave the prime radiant to Empire for some reason.
47:10 --> 47:13 [SPEAKER_01]: That Harry doesn't seem to know why.
47:13 --> 47:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand that at all.
47:17 --> 47:19 [SPEAKER_03]: I think if you said why it would ruin the plan.
47:20 --> 47:24 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I can't give out too much information because it'll affect your actions.
47:25 --> 47:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I have no idea.
47:27 --> 47:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I can't even go down the rabbit hall on this, but I just have to let this one play out.
47:35 --> 47:43 [SPEAKER_01]: But you know, Gail was actively like she just thwarted something that Vault Harry did is that Vault Harry strengthened Empire longer.
47:45 --> 47:45 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
47:47 --> 47:50 [SPEAKER_03]: I think one could interpret it a number of different ways.
47:51 --> 47:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, you think that Harry wants to sweeten the pot for the meal.
47:55 --> 47:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Give him a better target for when he goes conquest.
47:59 --> 48:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, that's one possibility.
48:00 --> 48:10 [SPEAKER_03]: But she keeps saying that it was Harry's plan that she's following, that it was Harry's plan said that you could only be so strong or whatever.
48:10 --> 48:12 [SPEAKER_03]: And they got too strong or whatever.
48:15 --> 48:28 [SPEAKER_03]: There may be a, you know, a fifth or sixth level chest move going on here between Harry and Demerzo, because I don't know how much psychohistry can account for the behavior of an Android.
48:30 --> 48:35 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't even know if Harry knew that dimmer cell was an android when the prime radiant was first established.
48:36 --> 48:38 [SPEAKER_03]: I can't remember if they even said that.
48:38 --> 48:45 [SPEAKER_03]: And of course, dimmer cell does not figure as a character in this fashion in the books.
48:45 --> 48:50 [SPEAKER_03]: So again, completely unknown territory, the writers can get it in any number of directions.
48:50 --> 48:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
48:51 --> 48:58 [SPEAKER_01]: We've got the X-Men now, just to whatever they need to do on Ignis and Professor X, Gail Hawke, Gail Dornec.
48:59 --> 48:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
49:00 --> 49:00 [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
49:00 --> 49:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
49:01 --> 49:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Who knows what they're doing with this?
49:03 --> 49:06 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, the second foundation is quite different from books.
49:06 --> 49:07 [SPEAKER_01]: And that's, that's okay with me.
49:07 --> 49:10 [SPEAKER_01]: I think you're telling a really interesting story with it so far.
49:10 --> 49:11 [SPEAKER_03]: They sure are.
49:12 --> 49:15 [SPEAKER_03]: I was though, Dawn's final message to dusk is so incredibly important.
49:17 --> 49:23 [SPEAKER_03]: And this is where I see a genuine love and respect between clients or at least from Dawn to dusk.
49:25 --> 49:27 [SPEAKER_03]: And they quote him,
49:28 --> 49:33 [SPEAKER_03]: They'd show a dust listening in Donna saying, you were afraid that you would be a dust that ran.
49:34 --> 49:35 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think you will.
49:36 --> 49:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Be brave.
49:38 --> 49:39 [SPEAKER_03]: Be at peace for the dust.
49:39 --> 49:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Can I pray?
49:40 --> 49:45 [SPEAKER_03]: I see you again whenever, wherever we tyrants spend eternity.
49:45 --> 49:47 [SPEAKER_03]: And there's the title, episode.
49:49 --> 49:51 [SPEAKER_03]: I just got chills and a couple of years.
49:52 --> 49:55 [SPEAKER_03]: It was really, really well done and totally unexpected.
49:55 --> 50:00 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we did see him start the message and, you know, there was a suggestion of it, but wow.
50:01 --> 50:02 [SPEAKER_01]: No, I thought that was brilliant.
50:04 --> 50:11 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, when we had that scene of them sharing a drink together, I had a feeling that was going to be the last time we see those three together of any generation.
50:11 --> 50:17 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that was the, that was kind of the love letter, the farewell letter to the Clionic Dynasty.
50:17 --> 50:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
50:17 --> 50:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
50:18 --> 50:18 [SPEAKER_03]: Interesting.
50:18 --> 50:19 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
50:19 --> 50:19 [SPEAKER_03]: I could see that.
50:19 --> 50:21 [SPEAKER_01]: And here's, here's the post script.
50:22 --> 50:30 [SPEAKER_03]: At the same time, it seems to you that Gail has given Dusk a perfect incentive to use his planet killer device on what if, if you ever needed one,
50:32 --> 50:39 [SPEAKER_03]: on whatever he perceives to be the location of the ones that basically killed on.
50:41 --> 50:43 [SPEAKER_03]: And how he interprets that will depend on any number of factors.
50:49 --> 50:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Why would you want to kill Don now because the people who killed Don.
50:53 --> 50:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm sorry.
50:54 --> 50:56 [SPEAKER_01]: I thought you meant go that dusk now wanted to kill Don.
50:56 --> 50:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I was like wait.
50:57 --> 50:58 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you're meeting something.
50:58 --> 50:59 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not.
50:59 --> 51:01 [SPEAKER_03]: No, he wanted to kill Don's killers.
51:02 --> 51:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
51:02 --> 51:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
51:02 --> 51:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
51:02 --> 51:03 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
51:03 --> 51:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm I'm good with you.
51:04 --> 51:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
51:04 --> 51:05 [SPEAKER_01]: He only thinks Don's dead now.
51:06 --> 51:12 [SPEAKER_01]: I kind of think, you know, you put somebody outside deliberately showing me that there's a space who's probably not dead.
51:13 --> 51:15 [SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, I was interested that you said that.
51:15 --> 51:17 [SPEAKER_03]: I was very interested that you said that.
51:17 --> 51:22 [SPEAKER_03]: It just mimics so much the end of day in the second season.
51:22 --> 51:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but, but they made it so clear that he got his whole space suit on and then he went to the side of the blast and then he just got sucked out.
51:30 --> 51:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, all right, he's got a few minutes at least, right?
51:32 --> 51:36 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, long enough where he could probably get scooped up by gel if he needs to.
51:37 --> 51:38 [SPEAKER_03]: And by diversale.
51:38 --> 51:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, because of course, diversale contract.
51:40 --> 51:42 [SPEAKER_01]: And then it was like, yeah, oh, his dad and I turned that way.
51:42 --> 51:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Go, you know, we got your ship a little bit that way, put him in the bag.
51:46 --> 51:47 [SPEAKER_01]: I'll I'll I'll heal him.
51:48 --> 51:49 [SPEAKER_03]: I have other things to attend to.
51:50 --> 51:53 [SPEAKER_03]: Or alternatively, no, she just didn't cancel a whole bunch more.
51:53 --> 51:56 [SPEAKER_03]: I expected.
51:56 --> 52:02 [SPEAKER_03]: We've been led to expect all along, but this may be the last time, but she may say, okay, no more clearance.
52:03 --> 52:04 [SPEAKER_01]: So I think that
52:06 --> 52:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, something is going to happen to the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the canters.
52:14 --> 52:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Uh, either this dusk is going to go insane, or there's going to be an attack on Trantor and I mean, what's the first thing the Mules should do if he wants to secure his throne is get rid of all the other sparkelyons, right?
52:29 --> 52:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, they're not dead or so.
52:31 --> 52:32 [SPEAKER_03]: If it's possible.
52:33 --> 52:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's his, and I don't even know how much he knows about her at this point.
52:37 --> 52:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
52:38 --> 52:42 [SPEAKER_03]: So that that might be his unexpected downfall.
52:42 --> 52:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm really curious because since Gail discovered her powers, she's not been in the same room as Tim herself.
52:47 --> 52:53 [SPEAKER_01]: So I don't, first of all, I don't think that she knows actually, she probably does know that Tim herself wrote about at this point.
52:54 --> 52:54 [SPEAKER_01]: But I think so.
52:55 --> 52:57 [SPEAKER_01]: But does she know if her powers will work on her?
52:59 --> 53:05 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I mean, that's probably one of the biggest questions that I got left with is, you know.
53:07 --> 53:11 [SPEAKER_03]: How does a mentality fight an android?
53:11 --> 53:12 [SPEAKER_01]: It's a good question.
53:13 --> 53:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Because, you know, completely different frames of reference, I've nothing else.
53:18 --> 53:23 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I definitely felt that the end that Don himself did not want to die at that point.
53:23 --> 53:29 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, maybe it was just human nature instinct to grab on and hold on as long as he could.
53:30 --> 53:32 [SPEAKER_03]: But, um, I don't know.
53:35 --> 53:35 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
53:37 --> 53:40 [SPEAKER_03]: I love Tim herself, like, it has been three hundred years.
53:41 --> 53:42 [SPEAKER_03]: You are looking well.
53:43 --> 53:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that was funny.
53:45 --> 53:47 [SPEAKER_01]: She, I mean, she's still got a sense of humor.
53:47 --> 53:49 [SPEAKER_03]: She's got all kinds of stuff.
53:50 --> 53:50 [SPEAKER_03]: She does.
53:51 --> 53:56 [SPEAKER_03]: But why didn't she show up before Don Lodge himself, or didn't Lodge himself, but was launched into the void?
53:57 --> 53:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, she doesn't teleport.
53:58 --> 53:58 [SPEAKER_01]: We know that.
53:59 --> 54:03 [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, but she'd been following all along.
54:03 --> 54:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, probably.
54:04 --> 54:12 [SPEAKER_03]: Not close what she following, I suppose she didn't want to, she stayed outside range so that she was, she didn't know if the bigger could pick her up.
54:12 --> 54:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Her, her Xerooth law said he needs to be taught a lesson before I rescue her.
54:17 --> 54:19 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, that could be that could certainly be.
54:21 --> 54:26 [SPEAKER_03]: Though she could also have just been ready to ditch him the way she'd done with, you know,
54:26 --> 54:28 [SPEAKER_03]: previous dawns and even a day or two, so.
54:29 --> 54:29 [SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
54:29 --> 54:32 [SPEAKER_01]: I will make Demorseld to can't and do one of you.
54:32 --> 54:33 [SPEAKER_01]: That was a great line from desk.
54:34 --> 54:35 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah.
54:38 --> 54:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so many questions.
54:42 --> 54:43 [SPEAKER_03]: If so many ways it could go.
54:43 --> 54:47 [SPEAKER_03]: I've been waiting to record this episode because I want to see the next one.
54:48 --> 54:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I do too.
54:49 --> 54:51 [SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh man, that's a great, that's a great cliffhanger.
54:52 --> 54:54 [SPEAKER_03]: What a place to end halfway through.
54:54 --> 54:55 [SPEAKER_01]: And what do I always say on Clifangers?
54:56 --> 54:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Alicia always brings us up that I complain about Clifangers.
54:59 --> 55:01 [SPEAKER_01]: But I like Clifangers where the question is what happens next?
55:02 --> 55:03 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, what's the emotional impact of that?
55:04 --> 55:07 [SPEAKER_01]: And I think we got a perfect one here with Demorsel, meaning Gail.
55:07 --> 55:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Are you only the Clifanger with Dawn?
55:10 --> 55:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Rather is a little dumb because, you know, he's like, oh, I'm outside.
55:13 --> 55:16 [SPEAKER_01]: But honestly, I don't even think that's a dumb one because we saw him put a space suit on.
55:17 --> 55:18 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm convinced he's still alive.
55:19 --> 55:33 [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm so curious about the emotional impact of these two serious players, Demosel and Gail, who have incompatible powers, these two players meeting face to face, I'm so curious what's going to happen next.
55:33 --> 55:35 [SPEAKER_01]: That's what makes great cliffhanger.
55:35 --> 55:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, for sure.
55:36 --> 55:40 [SPEAKER_03]: And I would love it if I think we had this speculation in early on.
55:40 --> 55:44 [SPEAKER_03]: I would love it if Demosel has sought her out.
55:45 --> 55:47 [SPEAKER_03]: and said, yeah, we need to join forces here.
55:47 --> 55:48 [SPEAKER_01]: That's a good prediction you had.
55:48 --> 55:49 [SPEAKER_01]: I think that's right.
55:49 --> 55:51 [SPEAKER_03]: That would be so much fun.
55:52 --> 55:53 [SPEAKER_03]: Really, so much.
55:55 --> 55:57 [SPEAKER_03]: So one really kind of fuzzy place.
55:57 --> 56:02 [SPEAKER_03]: How did, um, what's this name?
56:02 --> 56:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Tazik, the, the Calgon administrator traced Dawn's location and even entered that space lock to seek revenge.
56:13 --> 56:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, maybe he was just following him and who knows.
56:17 --> 56:21 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, I'm not sure the timing works with the scenes they were showing us.
56:21 --> 56:26 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, other than Bengale or Zara sending him some kind of a telepathic message, I'm just not sure how they're
56:28 --> 56:30 [SPEAKER_03]: We're supposed to think he accomplished it.
56:30 --> 56:31 [SPEAKER_03]: We're not supposed to think at all.
56:31 --> 56:32 [SPEAKER_03]: I realize this.
56:32 --> 56:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think on this one, this one.
56:33 --> 56:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Enjoy the drama.
56:35 --> 56:38 [SPEAKER_01]: My parents would have said to me, it's a movie.
56:38 --> 56:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Right, right, right, right.
56:39 --> 56:39 [SPEAKER_01]: You make questions.
56:40 --> 56:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Each is cereal.
56:41 --> 56:45 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
56:45 --> 56:46 [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't had to use that one in a while.
56:46 --> 56:48 [SPEAKER_01]: We've been covering such good shows.
56:48 --> 56:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, seriously, seriously.
56:50 --> 56:55 [SPEAKER_03]: I thought myself wondering, you know, this convention of numbering the claims.
56:55 --> 56:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
56:56 --> 56:57 [SPEAKER_03]: on it.
56:57 --> 56:59 [SPEAKER_03]: I think it's only the days that get numbered.
57:00 --> 57:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, I think each Cleon gets numbered.
57:04 --> 57:06 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, each Cleon get numbered only the day is known.
57:06 --> 57:09 [SPEAKER_03]: It's always, you know, Cleon.
57:09 --> 57:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's always on the day, right?
57:11 --> 57:12 [SPEAKER_03]: It's the dawn of the dusk.
57:12 --> 57:14 [SPEAKER_03]: That's the one in the middle chair, right?
57:14 --> 57:14 [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
57:14 --> 57:20 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm wondering if that somehow supports your individuation and then that reinforces the genetic drift.
57:21 --> 57:23 [SPEAKER_03]: Because I have a number.
57:23 --> 57:24 [SPEAKER_03]: I am maybe a clown.
57:24 --> 57:33 [SPEAKER_03]: I may be a clone of the very first one, but I am a number in a series, and therefore different from the number before me and the number after me.
57:33 --> 57:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, that's interesting, yeah.
57:36 --> 57:37 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it's a very human thing to do.
57:37 --> 57:41 [SPEAKER_03]: And I don't think it's hidden knowledge that the clowns are closed.
57:41 --> 57:41 [SPEAKER_03]: Is it?
57:42 --> 57:43 [SPEAKER_01]: No, that's definitely.
57:44 --> 57:45 [SPEAKER_03]: That's, yeah, that's common knowledge.
57:46 --> 57:47 [SPEAKER_03]: That's common knowledge.
57:48 --> 57:57 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they may be clones and supposedly exact copies of their originator, but the personal experience has got to shape and mold anybody regardless of their origin.
57:58 --> 57:58 [SPEAKER_03]: I think.
57:59 --> 58:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, and how many juniors or twins try to differentiate themselves?
58:05 --> 58:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly, exactly.
58:07 --> 58:08 [SPEAKER_03]: I was thinking that a lot.
58:08 --> 58:17 [SPEAKER_01]: But they don't have this quite tailored experience to try to make them exactly like, it's a very unique situation here.
58:18 --> 58:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, well, it is unique.
58:20 --> 58:21 [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, very neat edge.
58:22 --> 58:23 [SPEAKER_01]: True.
58:23 --> 58:24 [SPEAKER_03]: Here it is, you need.
58:25 --> 58:26 [SPEAKER_03]: So two small questions here.
58:27 --> 58:35 [SPEAKER_03]: I keep trying to see what are the faces that we keep seeing in the lovely opening sequence on the winged human statues.
58:36 --> 58:40 [SPEAKER_03]: They keep, they have changed the time and the sun wondering about that.
58:40 --> 58:41 [SPEAKER_01]: I haven't noticed.
58:41 --> 58:41 [SPEAKER_01]: I have to go back and look.
58:42 --> 58:50 [SPEAKER_03]: And I love the music during most of this final sequence, and it sounded the undercurrent.
58:52 --> 58:55 [SPEAKER_03]: It sounded very much like the undercurrent music for salarons.
58:56 --> 59:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I wonder if there's a link between the composers of these two shows.
59:02 --> 59:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I wonder.
59:03 --> 59:04 [SPEAKER_03]: What do you suppose?
59:04 --> 59:05 [SPEAKER_03]: All there probably just clones, right?
59:05 --> 59:06 [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
59:06 --> 59:06 [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
59:09 --> 59:10 [SPEAKER_01]: It's actually cramick brewery.
59:11 --> 59:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Cramick brewery.
59:11 --> 59:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Doesn't music for one of them.
59:12 --> 59:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, I thought it was foundation bear as opposed to rings of power bear.
59:16 --> 59:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Right, right.
59:17 --> 59:17 [SPEAKER_01]: You're right.
59:17 --> 59:18 [SPEAKER_01]: I think you're right.
59:20 --> 59:21 [SPEAKER_03]: There can be only one.
59:21 --> 59:26 [SPEAKER_03]: So only the one, the inimitable bear, I'm a query.
59:27 --> 59:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, it's been a pleasure talking with you Marilyn about another episode of foundation.
59:31 --> 59:40 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry if I was I guess we did a normal length episode anyway, but yeah, sorry if my voice was giving out at certain points where hopefully be fully on the mend next week.
59:42 --> 59:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Let's just talk quickly about the affiliates.
59:45 --> 59:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
59:46 --> 59:48 [SPEAKER_01]: Everyone check out and never mind the music.
59:49 --> 59:55 [SPEAKER_01]: They are doing a weekly music and psychology breakdown collaboration.
59:55 --> 59:59 [SPEAKER_01]: I know we're going to be doing some collaboration with them coming up so stay tuned on that.
59:59 --> 01:00:02 [SPEAKER_03]: And see if Mark actually does, in fact, me on doing episodes.
01:00:02 --> 01:00:03 [SPEAKER_01]: I hope he does.
01:00:03 --> 01:00:05 [SPEAKER_01]: I cannot, I don't believe you.
01:00:05 --> 01:00:07 [SPEAKER_01]: I know you've heard Bohemian Rhapsody.
01:00:07 --> 01:00:11 [SPEAKER_01]: It was on the radio for like ten years straight on like every rock station.
01:00:11 --> 01:00:15 [SPEAKER_03]: But John, I've never listened to a radio rock station in my life.
01:00:15 --> 01:00:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay, my own, all right.
01:00:18 --> 01:00:19 [SPEAKER_01]: All right, all right, we're moving on.
01:00:20 --> 01:00:20 [SPEAKER_01]: We're moving on.
01:00:20 --> 01:00:21 [SPEAKER_03]: But I'm willing to be educated.
01:00:21 --> 01:00:22 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm willing to educate it.
01:00:23 --> 01:00:25 [SPEAKER_01]: It's the, it might be the greatest song of all time.
01:00:26 --> 01:00:28 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, then I really don't hear it sometimes.
01:00:28 --> 01:00:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Don't go search this up until I hear back from Mark.
01:00:31 --> 01:00:31 [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
01:00:31 --> 01:00:35 [SPEAKER_03]: I will, I will end in my complete ignorance on the subject.
01:00:36 --> 01:00:36 [SPEAKER_01]: All right.
01:00:37 --> 01:00:40 [SPEAKER_01]: And if you want more Maryland, rings and rituals is available.
01:00:40 --> 01:00:46 [SPEAKER_01]: You can listen to your breakdown, Maryland, with Dr. Sarah Brown on rings of power season one.

01:00:57 --> 01:00:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Ah, yes.
01:00:57 --> 01:00:58 [SPEAKER_01]: It was very successful.
01:00:59 --> 01:00:59 [SPEAKER_01]: We had a lot of fun.
01:00:59 --> 01:01:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Very good.

01:01:47 --> 01:01:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
01:01:47 --> 01:01:51 [SPEAKER_01]: She has more knowledge about Star Wars than I have about basically anything.

01:02:04 --> 01:02:08 [SPEAKER_01]: On the main feed, I'm not going to be on it because I'm still recovering an elution.
