[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Welcome to the House of the Hounds, where the Lorehounds, your guide, is to the Dance of the Dragons. I'm John.

[00:00:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm David and this is our coverage for the HBO original series, House of the Dragon.

[00:00:31] [SPEAKER_00]: The season finale, season 2, episode 8, titled The Queen Who Ever Was.

[00:00:37] [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to start off with our hot takes for the episode before we get into a scene-by-scene breakdown.

[00:00:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Although I think we're going to do some season overall thoughts too during our hot takes.

[00:00:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think so. I think it might be warranted a little bit and then on the feedback, I think that's when we'll do a little bit more as well.

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we're going to... Are you and Alicia still going to do a...

[00:00:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we are.

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to record a Friday.

[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so we have like three podcasts covering the last episode.

[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think our final recaps are just going to be woven into all of that stuff. Yeah?

[00:01:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_04]: That makes sense.

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Since I kind of interrupted your train of thought with that and you didn't get to say what we're doing,

[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_04]: we are going to be doing a spoiler...

[00:01:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Lorecast, whatever.

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, maybe we'll call it a Lorecast.

[00:01:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's a fun branding.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's good.

[00:01:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Where we will talk full book spoilers on the Friday pod.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_04]: The one that we record Friday.

[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know. It's going to come out Friday or Saturday.

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_04]: But anyway, point is we will be talking about full book spoilers.

[00:01:31] [SPEAKER_04]: So if you have feedback, maybe just send it to me actually because I don't know how...

[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_04]: For book spoiler feedback.

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_04]: For book spoiler feedback.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_00]: No, I think Nancy's fully briefed.

[00:01:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Nancy is?

[00:01:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I believe she's read it.

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay, okay.

[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Then still hotd at thelorehounds.com.

[00:01:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Or maybe put a spoiler up on the top of it and warn her that there might be spoilers below.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, go ahead.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Give everybody a book spoiler warning.

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_04]: But Alicia and I will be talking because we've already been spoiled for everything.

[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_04]: We'll be talking about what they did right, wrong this season,

[00:02:01] [SPEAKER_04]: what we hope for next season, and our general thoughts on the season, I think.

[00:02:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And Thursday where we're going to record our feedback,

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_00]: where Hand of the Pod, Nancy M, is collecting all of our feedback for us.

[00:02:13] [SPEAKER_00]: So you can send your feedback to hotd at thelorehounds.com.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Nancy has done an amazing job this season.

[00:02:22] [SPEAKER_00]: We really...

[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think people really understand how important it was to have her on that.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_00]: So everyone send her an email or ping her on the Discord and thank her profusely,

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_00]: because it has been a major boon for us.

[00:02:37] [SPEAKER_00]: You can also send us voicemails.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_00]: You can use the website.

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a contact form there as well as a voicemail tool.

[00:02:44] [SPEAKER_00]: But you could also just use your phone and use whatever voicemail app you have on your phone

[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_00]: and then just send that voicemail to hotd at thelorehounds.com.

[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And then we can integrate those in.

[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_00]: And again, we're going to record Thursday evening this week,

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_00]: probably around 7.30 Eastern time or so.

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Cool.

[00:03:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, if you want to support the community on Supercaster Patreon,

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_04]: you can go into the link tree in the show notes and find links how to do that.

[00:03:13] [SPEAKER_04]: We had a great season doing our first ever season pass,

[00:03:16] [SPEAKER_04]: where we just charged $10 flat.

[00:03:20] [SPEAKER_04]: And we made sure that you got permanent access to basically the Supercast and Patreon benefits

[00:03:25] [SPEAKER_04]: for Just House of the Dragon.

[00:03:27] [SPEAKER_04]: We are going to do it since it was a success.

[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_04]: We're going to do it again for Rings of Power.

[00:03:32] [SPEAKER_04]: So that is now available on the network page as well.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_04]: You can find that in the show notes as well in the link tree.

[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_04]: You can also find our Discord server,

[00:03:41] [SPEAKER_04]: which you can just join in on the conversation.

[00:03:42] [SPEAKER_04]: A lot of fun there.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_04]: And all of our affiliate podcasts.

[00:03:45] [SPEAKER_04]: David, do you want to pitch the show guide one more time?

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess our final pit, well, final whatever.

[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_00]: The show guide. Yes.

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_00]: It is a really cool online encyclopedia that just covers the show up until now.

[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: We use a thing called Notion.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_00]: It's an amazing platform.

[00:04:05] [SPEAKER_00]: John along with Brian,

[00:04:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and Aaron put together a deep set of resources about the characters

[00:04:14] [SPEAKER_00]: and the actors and the dragons and the locations and everything's cross linked.

[00:04:18] [SPEAKER_00]: John, you've been doing these amazing episode recaps where you...

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying.

[00:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Where we actually use that as our outline.

[00:04:25] [SPEAKER_00]: So that's another cool thing.

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Like if you want to be sort of,

[00:04:27] [SPEAKER_00]: you can see sort of how the podcasts are made.

[00:04:30] [SPEAKER_00]: You can see the outline that we read from for it.

[00:04:33] [SPEAKER_00]: And John sent some screenshots and all that kind of stuff.

[00:04:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's a really great resource.

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_00]: It's also really great for second screening while you're watching.

[00:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: You can like go into the character guide and scroll through really quick

[00:04:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and match a face and go,

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_00]: oh, okay, that's that person.

[00:04:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Or today I was trying to look up who the actor was for Admiral Lothar,

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I believe is the...

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Lohar?

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Lohar.

[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Sorry, don't have me.

[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_00]: For Lohar.

[00:04:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And that was really great to find out that that's Abigail Thorn.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And I just, it was just right there at the tip of my fingers.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to do that for...

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, we're not going to.

[00:05:09] [SPEAKER_00]: We have done that.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_00]: John has done that with Marilyn's Elb for Rings of Power.

[00:05:13] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's going to be part of the benefits for the regular subscribers

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_00]: as well as the season pass subscribers for Rings of Power.

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_04]: That's right.

[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_04]: The one guide to rule them all is live.

[00:05:22] [SPEAKER_04]: So don't miss it.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Very cool.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_00]: It's been such a cool feature.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It really allows us to take screenshots and point out details

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_00]: or write little notes about things.

[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just, it's really extended our ability and I'm so glad we're using it.

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_00]: So, and thanks for all the hard work on this here, John.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_00]: It's been really...

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Of course.

[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_04]: It's fun to do.

[00:05:42] [SPEAKER_04]: You are...

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_04]: It's fun to do.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Ball.

[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_00]: You were having a ball with this.

[00:05:45] [SPEAKER_04]: I was.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I even, I've been experimenting with new features for the Rings of Power one.

[00:05:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Sweet.

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Because that, you know, every, every time I do something,

[00:05:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm like, oh, what else can I do?

[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm-hmm.

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I love it.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I love it.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[00:05:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I kind of get based on your spicy hot take after the episode last night.

[00:06:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Did I yuck your yum?

[00:06:07] [SPEAKER_00]: No, you didn't.

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: But I was just curious.

[00:06:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I want to know where you are at this morning, where you're feeling with sort of a little

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_00]: bit of distance from the end of the episode.

[00:06:19] [SPEAKER_00]: You had feelings last night.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_00]: You had a lot of different feelings.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm just curious to, to where you're at.

[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Where have you landed as of today?

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, I said to myself last night, I'm a little cranky about it right now.

[00:06:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe after a good night's sleep, I'll feel better.

[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_04]: And then I didn't sleep because my children were maniacs at 3 AM.

[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_04]: But then I went and I went through the show guide and doing the episodic recap actually

[00:06:45] [SPEAKER_04]: made me feel worse about the episode because I was, I'm writing and I'm like, I only

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_04]: need to write one or two sentences about this scene.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_04]: And every other episode I've been writing a paragraph.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I noticed that for in the previous episodes.

[00:06:58] [SPEAKER_04]: And that wasn't, that was not like me being spiteful about something.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_04]: It was just me like, there's nothing to say about this scene.

[00:07:04] [SPEAKER_04]: This is just a fact.

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_04]: I just saw a fact where I saw a shot of, of like the last like six to eight bullet

[00:07:11] [SPEAKER_04]: points are just a shot of an army or a shot of a person, you know, showing

[00:07:16] [SPEAKER_04]: us something for next season.

[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_04]: It was essentially a trailer for season three.

[00:07:21] [SPEAKER_04]: And I will say, I thought that this season overall had some pacing issues.

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_04]: I was willing to overlook them because I thought season four had a really great

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_04]: mid-season climax and I said, okay, you know what?

[00:07:33] [SPEAKER_04]: I trust them to do that again.

[00:07:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Season four of Game of Thrones.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Episode four, episode four.

[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Okay.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_04]: That was the Rook's Rest climax.

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I trusted them again to do that in the season finale.

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Unfortunately, I don't think they did that.

[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't want to get on the, on the, you know, we need a battle for it

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_04]: to be a satisfying conclusion because I don't, I don't agree with that.

[00:07:56] [SPEAKER_04]: But what you do need is action in the sense of something needs to feel

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_04]: like it resolved in this finale.

[00:08:04] [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think anything resolved.

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't, I can't point to a single plot line that resolved.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_04]: And that is a weakness, not a strength that does not make me look

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_04]: more forward to season three.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Um, and I'll say in part it's because we left season one on a very cliff

[00:08:23] [SPEAKER_04]: hangar point where we said, okay, that's great.

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_04]: We had a whole season of setup.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_04]: And now in season two, we're going to go right into the action.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of didn't.

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's, that's okay.

[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_04]: But then you got to, by the end of season two, you got to really

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_04]: start wrapping some things up.

[00:08:37] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't feel like we did that.

[00:08:39] [SPEAKER_04]: So I would say overall I was at about an eight out of 10 on the season.

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_04]: I think the finale brought me down to a seven, seven and a half out of time.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I again, that's not a bad show.

[00:08:51] [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, that's still an excellent show.

[00:08:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's still it's great TV.

[00:08:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, it's good TV.

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_04]: It's good TV.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_04]: So, but, but I'm not going to grade the show on a curve.

[00:08:59] [SPEAKER_04]: You know why?

[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Because it's fucking HBO.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_04]: This is HBO.

[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_04]: If they can't get it right, then nobody can.

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_04]: They have all the money in the world to do this.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I know that we have the Zaslaw nonsense, but they've got

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_04]: the budgets, they've got the time.

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_04]: They spent two years doing this.

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_04]: It's the biggest franchise in the world.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_04]: People want to work on this.

[00:09:20] [SPEAKER_04]: The best people in the world are looking at it on a technical aspect.

[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_04]: The CGI looked amazing the entire season.

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_04]: The practical effects looked amazing.

[00:09:30] [SPEAKER_04]: The sets beautiful.

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_04]: And so what really took away from this show was to me, the

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_04]: structure of the storytelling.

[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_04]: We had some good dialogue.

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think we had great dialogue.

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_04]: We had, but, but we had good points in the story.

[00:09:49] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it felt like it dragged a lot of the time.

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I thought that the Damon thing was going to maybe go to

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_04]: something a little bit more meaningful to me.

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Again, I said this on the.

[00:09:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I said this on the hot takes, but you're not going to make

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_04]: me feel something about Game of Thrones season eight.

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_04]: It was not a good season.

[00:10:07] [SPEAKER_04]: It was it was something that literally killed a fandom for years.

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't know why they insist on connecting everything to that.

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_04]: And you know why?

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Because it's like in Star Wars, where everything has to

[00:10:19] [SPEAKER_04]: connect to Luke Skywalker.

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_04]: It makes it feel smaller.

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_04]: If everything has to connect to the same few people,

[00:10:25] [SPEAKER_00]: especially when you keep using the same sound effects over

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_00]: and over again.

[00:10:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, that's a separate point with that.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_04]: But my point is my point is like, let this be its own

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_04]: story, guys.

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:10:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Let this breathe a little bit.

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_04]: And then, yeah, I really do think something happened where it

[00:10:41] [SPEAKER_04]: should have been 10 episodes because they set up some

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_04]: really good stuff and I don't need them all resolved in the

[00:10:47] [SPEAKER_04]: finale, but I need one of them to be resolved in the

[00:10:49] [SPEAKER_04]: finale.

[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_04]: And they really, I thought that they they let us to.

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't subvert my expectations exceed them.

[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what I want to say.

[00:11:01] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm tired of this subvert expectations thing.

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_04]: I want to be exceeded in my expectations.

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's what a show like Severance does.

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what a show like Foundation has done for me.

[00:11:10] [SPEAKER_04]: And or and or, you know, you know, instead of instead of

[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_04]: trying to keep me from guessing where we're going,

[00:11:18] [SPEAKER_04]: let me guess where we're going and then show me something

[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_04]: more.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think that this show did at the season.

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_04]: I think we have the potential for an amazing season

[00:11:26] [SPEAKER_04]: three.

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_04]: But I just don't think when you have a show that needs two

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_04]: years between each season with the level of CGI they're doing,

[00:11:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think you can end a season on a note like this.

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's a bad mistake.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It's disappointing too, because season I've heard this

[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and I don't know the veracity of it.

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_00]: If this is true that there was a fall off from season one

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_00]: because people were kind of like, do I really want to go?

[00:11:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, season one was just like a lot of this sort of

[00:11:57] [SPEAKER_00]: family drama on this table setting.

[00:11:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Like where's the where's the dramatic tension and

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_00]: release? Where's the tension and release?

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_00]: And if they couldn't do that in this whole entire season,

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_00]: how is that going to affect viewership for season three?

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:12:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Like how many people are going to come rushing hard back

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_00]: for season three?

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_04]: It just felt very cheap to end the episode on a series

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_04]: of montages that are just here's what you're going

[00:12:25] [SPEAKER_04]: to get next season.

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean guys, this is going to be 2026.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_04]: You got to give me something now because next year we

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_00]: have the night of the seven kingdoms.

[00:12:33] [SPEAKER_04]: And these shows just take two years to make now.

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Minimum.

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Minimum.

[00:12:38] [SPEAKER_00]: At the level that they're doing production at.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:12:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Now that being said, those are all my complaints

[00:12:43] [SPEAKER_04]: and I wanted to get them out of the way up front.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.

[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And I wanted you to have that opportunity.

[00:12:47] [SPEAKER_04]: I just want to say something nice about the show

[00:12:49] [SPEAKER_04]: before I turn it to you is that I do think

[00:12:53] [SPEAKER_04]: that they sold a lot of the family drama really well.

[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I really like what they did with all the bastards,

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_04]: all the all the dragon seeds.

[00:13:01] [SPEAKER_04]: I thought that stuff was really great.

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_04]: I really like the way that they gave a storyline

[00:13:07] [SPEAKER_04]: from a different character in the book to Reina.

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_04]: And I really like the way that they're having

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Kristen Cole sort of change, you know,

[00:13:16] [SPEAKER_04]: changes philosophy a little bit after that dragon fight.

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_04]: There's there's some really good points.

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_04]: And I really love all the stuff with Aegon.

[00:13:22] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's great.

[00:13:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Most of the show I think is operating at a high level.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_04]: It is it is just this there's something off

[00:13:31] [SPEAKER_04]: in the pacing and structure of the season.

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think that's on writing and show runners.

[00:13:36] [SPEAKER_04]: That's not on the actors or any of the production

[00:13:38] [SPEAKER_04]: or anything like that.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Because I think everybody's doing a great job

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_04]: on all of those things.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Could even be studio.

[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, yeah, I'm level.

[00:13:48] [SPEAKER_04]: We don't know.

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. But at the same time, like I don't know.

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_04]: But that's your job then fight. Right?

[00:13:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, exactly.

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Like tell a good story.

[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_04]: And again, it doesn't even need to be a battle,

[00:13:59] [SPEAKER_04]: but resolve something for me this season.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, anyway, what are your thoughts?

[00:14:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I checked in with a few other podcasts

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_00]: over the course of today, just listening in,

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_00]: catching people's hot takes and stuff like that.

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a few more to come.

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm sure the kind of consensus

[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_00]: that it feels like other podcasters

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_00]: are coming to everybody's kind of coming to is

[00:14:24] [SPEAKER_00]: this was a banger episode eight of a 10 episode season.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's right.

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_00]: If we had nine and we had some armies

[00:14:32] [SPEAKER_00]: and we had some dragons and we actually had some

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_00]: because we're winding up this clockworks, right?

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Winding, winding, winding.

[00:14:41] [SPEAKER_00]: You've got to release that catch so it can, you know,

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_00]: but it can sort of, you know, unwind it

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_00]: like you're saying something has to resolve

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_00]: that tension has to release.

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And then we would have had a nice cool down

[00:14:52] [SPEAKER_00]: episode 10 and just wow, like, wow,

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, we're really excited.

[00:14:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this really felt like episode eight

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_00]: of a 10 episode season.

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Wouldn't it have been nice to be going right now?

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Like man, that really set up next week.

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Can't wait to see what happens then.

[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_04]: But now again, it's not a year from now.

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_04]: It's two years from now, minimum.

[00:15:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Minimum we're looking at two years

[00:15:13] [SPEAKER_04]: that we have to wait for that to resolve

[00:15:14] [SPEAKER_04]: or what they just did to resolve.

[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't, one, I think this is a critique

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_04]: on the industry as a whole

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_04]: rather than House of the Dragon itself is,

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think it's sustainable

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_04]: to keep doing these two year gaps.

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_04]: I think we're going to have to figure out

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_04]: either how to get the CGI done faster

[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_04]: or how to rely more on practical effects

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_04]: so that your post takes less time.

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Because I just don't think that it tells a good story

[00:15:38] [SPEAKER_04]: to be waiting that long in between seasons

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_04]: because now you're telling me this is going to be

[00:15:41] [SPEAKER_04]: an eight year show for four seasons.

[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think of all those actors

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_00]: their availabilities, their careers,

[00:15:47] [SPEAKER_00]: those production crews, those locations.

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's a lot.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Right, right.

[00:15:53] [SPEAKER_04]: And you look at something like the Wheel of Time,

[00:15:55] [SPEAKER_04]: like my God, they're doing like two years

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_04]: between seasons on that,

[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_04]: they're supposed to be eight seasons.

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_04]: What are they going to do?

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_04]: What are they going to do?

[00:16:03] [SPEAKER_04]: They're not going to be able...

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Rand is going to be 40 by the time he's supposed to be 20.

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_00]: The aging can only take you so far.

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe they're maybe the studio heads

[00:16:11] [SPEAKER_00]: are banking on AI for that.

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:16:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I just think we're...

[00:16:16] [SPEAKER_04]: We are at an interim point right now

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_04]: where the technology is not where they want it to be

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_04]: on the speed of processing these special effects.

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_04]: But they want to push out these shows

[00:16:33] [SPEAKER_04]: that are bigger and bigger in scope.

[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_04]: And so I think either the technology is going to get faster

[00:16:39] [SPEAKER_04]: or we're going to learn to rely on it less

[00:16:41] [SPEAKER_04]: where there's going to be some kind of shift,

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_04]: maybe bull, right?

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe some shows rely on it less.

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Some shows rely on it more,

[00:16:47] [SPEAKER_04]: but the technology gets faster

[00:16:49] [SPEAKER_04]: or maybe it gets more expensive,

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_04]: but it's still faster.

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.

[00:16:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and we're in a really weird place too

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_00]: with the industry and if you listen to any of

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_00]: sort of the Hollywood peripheral people,

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_00]: not peripheral, they could be very integral,

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_00]: but people who are kind of speaking outside of the bubble,

[00:17:09] [SPEAKER_00]: they're saying there's a crisis brewing right now,

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_00]: even though it feels like we've got tons and tons of content

[00:17:14] [SPEAKER_00]: in the pipeline, they're saying that the stuff

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_00]: that three, four, five years, it's going to be weird

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_00]: because studios aren't green lighting things.

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_00]: People are giving up on the career or the profession,

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_00]: especially the back end folks.

[00:17:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And the whole streamer,

[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, are these technology companies

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_00]: or are they entertainment companies?

[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_00]: And there's this whole thing, post-strike.

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, yeah, the actors and the writers

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_00]: might have quote unquote won the strike,

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_00]: but they're losing this greater thing

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_00]: because the studios are now just sitting on their hands

[00:17:51] [SPEAKER_00]: and going, uh, and that's a problem when you have

[00:17:56] [SPEAKER_00]: a stock market controlling the fate of,

[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, our entertainment and our storytelling.

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And then of course you look at YouTube and TikTok

[00:18:04] [SPEAKER_00]: and those things just absolutely dwarf anything

[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_00]: that Hollywood is putting out right now.

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like it's a completely ridiculous ratio of numbers

[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_00]: of what TikTok is getting for a viewership

[00:18:16] [SPEAKER_00]: versus a show like this.

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_00]: It starts in a really weird place.

[00:18:20] [SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah.

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And how that is driving the decisions of studio heads

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_00]: to say, OK, well, let's let's stretch it out

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_00]: or let's do this, let's chop it here

[00:18:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and let's buy, you know, let's pad it there.

[00:18:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's weird.

[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_04]: But what was so weird to me was there was

[00:18:35] [SPEAKER_04]: a Hollywood reporter article where they quoted

[00:18:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Ryan Condola saying, oh yeah, no, we chose to make it eight

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_04]: episodes so we could start and end at good spots.

[00:18:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I was like, this was not a good spot to end, buddy.

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.

[00:18:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what would make you think that.

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_04]: So that makes me think it wasn't the studio.

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_04]: And we have scenes flying.

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_04]: And people try to blame HBO for a game of Thrones weird ending.

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:18:57] [SPEAKER_04]: And then they go around and say, no, we wanted them

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_04]: to do three more seasons.

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. Right. Right.

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_04]: So I don't know. I don't know.

[00:19:04] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not buying it, Ryan.

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm not buying it.

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_00]: The other thing that I thought was a little weird

[00:19:10] [SPEAKER_00]: for this episode was there.

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_00]: It was a very jet-packy episode, not in maybe the same level.

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_00]: They have dragons at least they can justify moving around.

[00:19:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. Right.

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_04]: But there's a lot of armies are moving fast.

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm hmm.

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And then there were some weird stuff.

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I noticed some weird green screen and some madding issues

[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and some of the ADR was a little bit off on this episode.

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_00]: So it felt like this episode kind of got squeezed.

[00:19:32] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, just the whole thing was was.

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like you said, just off it was like,

[00:19:38] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, you open your refrigerator and you're like,

[00:19:40] [SPEAKER_00]: something here is not right.

[00:19:42] [SPEAKER_00]: It's not fully blown yet, but it's something's going.

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And it was weird. Yep.

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I felt too from an episode level and a season level,

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_00]: they kept zigging when I was expecting them to zag, which is fine.

[00:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Then, you know, take me someplace new that I wasn't prepared.

[00:20:00] [SPEAKER_00]: But then I never felt like they really followed through on it.

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Like we thought I really thought

[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Aiman was going to have a soft spot in his heart for the small folk

[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_00]: because of that whole setup with the rat catchers.

[00:20:12] [SPEAKER_00]: No, the bra, well, the rat catchers, but also the brothel madam.

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, and that sort of that very womb like mothering situation.

[00:20:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And like when you hurt me, you know, when you hurt

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_00]: when you princess fight, you hurt people like me.

[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, oh, OK, so they're planting a seed of consciousness in them.

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And then they zag and then they say, no, no, this dude's a monster.

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Or right in a bit too cartoonish, right?

[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_04]: This was another complaint of mine, but I had enough that I didn't want to say it.

[00:20:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he was very he was toiling his mustache a lot in this one.

[00:20:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Renier is mew.

[00:20:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I kept thinking, Renier, you know,

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_00]: they were like leading to this thing where Renier is going to have a break

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and she's going to be really ruthless.

[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_00]: So she's watching the dragon seeds burn.

[00:20:54] [SPEAKER_00]: And then now she's like, oh, like, you know, we can still do deterrence.

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And then she's like, but no, we're going to burn, you know,

[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to burn some armies and everybody's like, you know.

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_00]: So that was weird for her misjudging broom.

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_00]: Right? You know, I thought, OK, well, maybe she, you know, she's grown,

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, she's like step she's put her boots on and then and put her crown

[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_00]: on and and broom is like the ruler I finally wanted.

[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_00]: But no, instead we get broom playing silly buggers.

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_00]: It was just they were a little thing or Miss Ariya the kiss.

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, wait, what was that for?

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, exactly. Yeah, that again, out of nowhere,

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_00]: have no problem with the kiss and I have no problem with them

[00:21:33] [SPEAKER_00]: doing something with that relationship and going to her.

[00:21:35] [SPEAKER_00]: But they didn't.

[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. They didn't do anything before or after that.

[00:21:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. It felt so out of place.

[00:21:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Just bizarre.

[00:21:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I did like in this episode a lot of this.

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of reckonings happening.

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Aegon's having a reckoning.

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Coralus is having a reckoning.

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Rain is having a reckoning.

[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Reneer is having a little bit of a reckoning.

[00:21:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess, you know, everybody's sort of coming to the realities like, whoa,

[00:22:01] [SPEAKER_00]: my world has shifted.

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I've got a, you know, I've got a change here,

[00:22:05] [SPEAKER_00]: which is great dramatic tension, right?

[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_00]: And the human heart and gone through itself.

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, that's the kind of stuff we want, you know,

[00:22:13] [SPEAKER_00]: that gives us cool story.

[00:22:15] [SPEAKER_00]: But it never they didn't go far with those things.

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And I loved all the whisperings in the ears.

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you've got Laris and Masaria and Alice

[00:22:25] [SPEAKER_00]: doing all these little whispers to all these people,

[00:22:27] [SPEAKER_00]: which I thought was a very cool plot device.

[00:22:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And I thought it worked well.

[00:22:31] [SPEAKER_00]: There were some burner, some great lines in here,

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, scattering your crumbs and, you know,

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Minner, but Dusted the Feet of Dragons stuff like that.

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Like there are some real banger scenes

[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_00]: and real real barn burner of lines.

[00:22:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And then they were just sort of lost them on a bunch of other stuff.

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I still love the

[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_00]: they're they're working in and around constantly

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_00]: these bigger meta conversations, which I love.

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that richness of fate and destiny.

[00:23:03] [SPEAKER_00]: And does Damon really have a choice in the matter here?

[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Because there's this, you know, fate of the world

[00:23:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and then your fate and, you know, well, I can't leave you.

[00:23:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I tried already and it didn't work out.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_00]: So does that mean you really have choice or not?

[00:23:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, Guy had one vision and he's coming out

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_04]: speaking in tongues.

[00:23:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm telling you.

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I love all this stuff with family

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and legacy and lineage and and Coralus is not being a great dad

[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and Jay's struggling with his lineage and legacy

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and legitimacy of rule.

[00:23:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, all of that stuff is really good.

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I forgot Allison had a big reckoning as well.

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Obviously, that's the whole other conversation we're going to have.

[00:23:44] [SPEAKER_00]: So there's a there's a bunch of it's like rich fertile soil.

[00:23:49] [SPEAKER_00]: And then they were like, oh, well, put some beans over here

[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_00]: and some tomatoes over there and we'll call it good.

[00:23:54] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, no, you could have had this massive vegetable garden

[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_00]: where we could have feasted and frolic and had an amazing time.

[00:24:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And then yeah, I don't know something.

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_04]: One more episode, guys, we could have done one more episode.

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_04]: This would have been one of the

[00:24:08] [SPEAKER_04]: like I guarantee you you have one big resolution

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_04]: at the end of this episode or in another episode.

[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I think this goes down as one of the top shows of the year.

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think it has a chance now.

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think that that's what they were banking on

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_00]: with Game of Thrones, flashback stuff like this is really going to wow them.

[00:24:25] [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to punch them in the face with, you know, I don't know.

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, Daenerys and the dragons.

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_04]: I really do think that they overestimate

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_04]: how much goodwill people have towards that last season.

[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_04]: I and again, I just don't want

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't want the world to continue to feel so small.

[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't want everything to to revolve around a single night battle.

[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's the problem is I don't think in the books,

[00:24:51] [SPEAKER_04]: it's going to be one night that it's somebody called it online

[00:24:55] [SPEAKER_04]: like the mildly cold evening instead of the long night.

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_04]: That's funny.

[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_04]: It's it's just like I just don't think that they you have to sell me on some

[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_04]: like the reason that it works to keep calling back to Darth Vader

[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_04]: is because he was fucking terrifying

[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_04]: and then you like ruled the galaxy with an iron fist.

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_04]: That's why they're able to use him in so many other pieces of media in Star Wars.

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Now, you can't do that with the Night King or with the White Walker that we saw

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_04]: because that they ended up kind of being nothing.

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Right? They really didn't do much once they came down.

[00:25:29] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, that's that, folks.

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_04]: That's the end of my complaints.

[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's talk about the episode.

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Let's do it.

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_04]: A Lannister abroad is what I'm calling it.

[00:25:38] [SPEAKER_00]: That was that was a cute, cute title.

[00:25:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Thailand proposes an alliance with the triarchy

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_04]: who agreed to help him in exchange for the stepstones

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_04]: after begrudgingly accepting the terms he's challenged to combat by their commander.

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Admiral Shadarco.

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Lohar, who needs to see Thailand prove himself worthy.

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think that was a real monkey.

[00:26:05] [SPEAKER_00]: You think so? I think so.

[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_04]: That looked like a CGI monkey to me.

[00:26:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Didn't it? Remember, it looked like a CGI giraffe in The Last of Us to people, not to me.

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_04]: But is it because is it because it's in a CGI environment?

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know, and my comment is that whole background as we were, you know,

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_00]: zooming across those the beach and those ships and then up onto the thing.

[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, oh, this really reminds me of like a Sid Meier civilization game.

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Hey, I got to see from from.

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I know you did. That's why I thought about it.

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_00]: It was in my head.

[00:26:39] [SPEAKER_00]: But that's like I was like, oh, I feel like I'm playing Civ.

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_00]: But I think it was a real monkey walking across there because it had shadow

[00:26:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and it was moving the sand and it had very deliberate motion.

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, so I felt that was real.

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_00]: It was it was a weird way to open the scene, though.

[00:26:54] [SPEAKER_04]: It sure was.

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe, you know, I guess it sets us in like we are in a different place.

[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's fine. That's fine.

[00:27:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I did like the little drop about tapestries that the triarchy guy said.

[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_00]: He's like, yeah, we got we got we got tapestries and perfumes.

[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, tapestries. Very cool.

[00:27:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, what what I read from that was you guys don't have a secure border.

[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_04]: We are bringing those things to Westeros, whether you like it or not.

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_04]: We don't care if you guys have food to eat,

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_04]: but we'll definitely charge you top dollar for our other products.

[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_04]: And probably we're going to make more money if it's on the black market.

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_00]: They're very they felt to me like they were very good at understanding

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_00]: the value proposition of any situation and maximizing for them.

[00:27:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And it really felt like Thailand was way out of his depths.

[00:27:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It's one thing for him to be a master of coin.

[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_00]: It's another thing for him to

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_00]: to be negotiating these, you know, international treaties at this level.

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was way outclassed.

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_04]: I agree with you.

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_04]: And then of course, it's like, yes, I would love to meet him.

[00:28:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Admiral Loar and she walks in and is just like, I'm going to eat you alive.

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_00]: So question because the actor is a trans woman

[00:28:25] [SPEAKER_00]: and I looked up her IMDB and read just a little bit.

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_00]: This they are I'm not sure there are specific pronouns

[00:28:35] [SPEAKER_00]: because I didn't find that out, so I'll just do they they are a big YouTuber

[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and the philosophy tube is their channel and a bunch of other stuff.

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So I think this is what was the musician who showed up in a Game of Thrones episode?

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I forget the guy's name. I don't know.

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I just know that.

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, so Thorne came out as a trans woman.

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_04]: I believe I believe she her pronoun.

[00:29:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Somebody can write it and correct if they somebody knows the Wikipedia.

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm pretty sure based on this Wikipedia article, she her pronouns.

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_04]: So she I think was in the acolyte.

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Really had the power of many.

[00:29:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm looking right now.

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Ensign, Yoris was the name of her character.

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_04]: OK, she has the power of many.

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, what I got a little confused by was clearly

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_00]: you know they're doing something with the with the gender and stuff there.

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_00]: But then one of the triarchy refers to Lohar as a he.

[00:29:43] [SPEAKER_00]: But then but then otherwise I'm like, I didn't notice that.

[00:29:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, I caught that on my rewatch today.

[00:29:49] [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, it's not a big deal.

[00:29:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not I'm not too worried about it.

[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I love the fact that they're bending Tyler's brain, though.

[00:29:56] [SPEAKER_00]: He's like, I don't know what to do with this situation.

[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And I thought in commander.

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I thought it was great.

[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I love just, you know, flipping it all upside down a little bit and shaking it about.

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_00]: So but again, it's it's not unlike the kiss or some other things where, OK,

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_00]: this was cool. What are we doing with it?

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Like how far are we going with this and is it really going to be something?

[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know that it will be.

[00:30:21] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, now that I'm reflecting on it and I can hope it will be, but I have no guarantee.

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. And again, what's interesting about these greens is that their whole philosophy is,

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_04]: well, we can't put a woman on the throne because this is a man's shot.

[00:30:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, you don't even think.

[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_04]: And yet they are constantly challenged in that proposition.

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. Yeah. Right.

[00:30:45] [SPEAKER_04]: And here, Thailand is face to face with the woman who is powerful.

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Who he needs to win the approval and respect of. Right.

[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. I did.

[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I did like the little slide joke that was made when the captain said or the admiral says,

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_00]: well, you know, what are you some sort of philosopher when the actor is a.

[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_00]: So that was pretty clever.

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I didn't know about the philosophy philosophy tube.

[00:31:14] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what it was. Yeah.

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Philosophy tube thing before, before I saw the episode, but that's pretty funny.

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, somebody did make a joke about how her teeth are pretty, pretty perfect.

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. And they said, what is the triarchy dental plan?

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Because I need my veneers done next.

[00:31:30] [SPEAKER_00]: That's right.

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And somebody write in and remind us who that who the musician was that made a cameo.

[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_04]: It was like a. Ed Sheeran. Is that what you're talking about?

[00:31:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. Ed Sheeran.

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. So this is like, is this like an Ed Sheeran thing?

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, why did they pick this actor for this role?

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I think this is just a character.

[00:31:47] [SPEAKER_04]: This is the main character.

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_04]: This is somebody who we're going to see going forward.

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_00]: OK, well, then they cast somebody who is not coming from a non-traditional acting

[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_04]: source, right? Like she's already in the acolyte, so she's legit now.

[00:32:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Once you're in the acolyte, that's that.

[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a year. You're made.

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_04]: You're made. No, you got you got a few years of acting, though.

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_04]: You got 2021 to 22, you got Latha 2023 Django.

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, it's not nothing.

[00:32:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, OK.

[00:32:14] [SPEAKER_04]: All right, shall we move on to Aiman having a temper tantrum

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_04]: and burning sharp point to get his rage out?

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_00]: So sharp point.

[00:32:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I looked up on the map.

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I am post a little screenshot in the discord as well.

[00:32:27] [SPEAKER_00]: It's really right up the bum of Dragonstone.

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_04]: And yeah, he just got mad right after he saw that.

[00:32:33] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what happened.

[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And but it's it's a very important strategic point

[00:32:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and it's in Renea's backyard.

[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_00]: So it's a real FU challenge, you know.

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_00]: And yes, it was a I'm mad, so I'm going to go do something

[00:32:47] [SPEAKER_04]: crass and but like what is his strategic advantage there?

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's he really just again,

[00:32:53] [SPEAKER_04]: I do think we've gone too cartoon with him.

[00:32:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Way too cartoonish, right?

[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_04]: And and really early in the season last season, early this season,

[00:33:02] [SPEAKER_04]: this whole regret over Luke dying.

[00:33:04] [SPEAKER_04]: I really think we had a big opportunity to have a relatable villain.

[00:33:08] [SPEAKER_04]: And we've now lost it.

[00:33:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Right, right.

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's where I was a little confused in the

[00:33:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought they were going to zig and instead they zagged.

[00:33:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And I thought maybe you would have some sort of.

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Balancing of thing.

[00:33:24] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's struggling with like, oh, well, this is a strategic point.

[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I should nuke it.

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_00]: But hey, there's a lot of small folk there

[00:33:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and like some sort of crisis in the heart or something.

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_04]: No. But again, like,

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_04]: don't subvert my expectations or pass them.

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_04]: So instead of just having him hard pivot with no explanation,

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_04]: have him struggle with something and then be pushed into another bad decision again.

[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_04]: There you go. You know what?

[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. I am the bad guy and I'm just going to lean into that.

[00:33:48] [SPEAKER_04]: That's an interesting character.

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_04]: It's not interesting for him to be like, oh, I guess I'll burn my brother

[00:33:52] [SPEAKER_00]: and show us that arc.

[00:33:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. And show us the struggle and the tension and the resolution.

[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_00]: So right.

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I will say it looked like it was a great POV with the dragon

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and the city on the back.

[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_00]: So visually amazing.

[00:34:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And he did look pretty aroused when he was watching the flames burn.

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But then, you know, they show Vigar taking off and flying towards the city

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_00]: and people screaming again, and then it went nowhere.

[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. You know, again, there's no

[00:34:21] [SPEAKER_00]: they just was it budget?

[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_00]: What why?

[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you gave us a whole bunch of other montagey things

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: like can you just show us one more dragon burnings, you know, small folk or something?

[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Can you throw us a bone?

[00:34:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I agree with you.

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_04]: All right. Speaking of bones,

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Laris asks Aegon to run away.

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_04]: He insists that Aegon must flee to Essos with him to Reneara's

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_04]: due to Reneara's growing advantage and Amon's increasingly desperate behavior.

[00:34:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Aegon makes clear that his penis exploded,

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_04]: leaving him to consider whether life is worth living.

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_00]: You can play that sound clip now.

[00:34:56] [SPEAKER_04]: OK, here we go.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.

[00:35:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you know what happened?

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_04]: That was a song.

[00:35:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know it.

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, OK.

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a book of love boy and it's all about

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_00]: a woman who wishes that she could be a boy and hang out

[00:35:24] [SPEAKER_00]: and play with boy toys and all this kind of stuff.

[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's just it struck me as very funny with this.

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was a cool jam and maybe some people will get the joke.

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was all right.

[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_04]: The thing so I'm sorry that I don't get the joke.

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I had a suspicion that you wouldn't.

[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_00]: And then it was like in my head and I was just like, OK, I need to hear it.

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm like, OK, I got to make other people hear it.

[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So sorry about that, everybody is a little self-indulgent.

[00:35:50] [SPEAKER_00]: OK, so I'm making fun of Aegon for for not having his sausage anymore.

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Fair enough.

[00:35:57] [SPEAKER_04]: But something I wanted to compliment about the scene is I do think this

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_04]: scene actually did surpass my expectations

[00:36:03] [SPEAKER_04]: because we all knew Aegon was starting to feel maybe I shouldn't be alive anymore.

[00:36:09] [SPEAKER_04]: He's just been really leaning into that whole existential crisis

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_04]: this whole season.

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_04]: But then he comes out with the comedy.

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_04]: He goes, right? Hey, by the way, hard pivot.

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_04]: My penis exploded like a sausage.

[00:36:25] [SPEAKER_04]: He says that. Yeah.

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_04]: So so it both accomplishes the character

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_04]: moment that we needed, which was I'm not sure I want to be alive.

[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_04]: And it makes me laugh.

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_04]: There you go, exceeding expectations.

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Tom McCartney had an amazing season.

[00:36:41] [SPEAKER_00]: So bravo to him.

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think Laris has been a great,

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_00]: a good, strong character this season as well.

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I've enjoyed his arc.

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think Laris is clearly like if you're, you know,

[00:36:56] [SPEAKER_00]: if you had any thoughts, otherwise he's clearly behind Aegon.

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. You know, why is he identified with him?

[00:37:05] [SPEAKER_00]: What is it? Is it, you know, this a sense of I've got a disability?

[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_00]: You've got a disability kind of thing.

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_00]: No, it's that.

[00:37:13] [SPEAKER_00]: A ruler.

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_04]: It said, amen.

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Humiliated him in front of the council.

[00:37:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Or that Aegon is manipulative, manipulatable.

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Aegon is not very sharp.

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's about as sharp as a white bag of mice.

[00:37:27] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, he's clearly, you know,

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Laris schools him and like, well, yeah, if you arrest him

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_00]: and now you have no dragons to seven, right?

[00:37:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. Yeah.

[00:37:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. I mean, it's it's a really great scene of dialogue here.

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_04]: This is one of the better seasons of the episode.

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_04]: I think Laris is an increasingly obscure character, right?

[00:37:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Obscures not the right word.

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Opaque. Opaque.

[00:37:53] [SPEAKER_04]: There you go. Thank you.

[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_04]: Opaque character where I'm not sure his exact contingency here.

[00:37:59] [SPEAKER_04]: He we know, we know he's going to he's going to carry him across the narrow sea.

[00:38:03] [SPEAKER_04]: I do love their little date later on the trolley.

[00:38:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. But yeah, I really wonder what his true end game is here.

[00:38:11] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a great set up to in this scene

[00:38:13] [SPEAKER_00]: when he's first standing in the room

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and I just have to give props to Laris's operational security.

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_00]: He waits till Orwell leaves and he hears the door click before he starts speaking

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and to take that beat in a television show like that.

[00:38:30] [SPEAKER_00]: That just shows you who Laris is and how they're playing him.

[00:38:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, he's in shadow.

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_00]: They shoot the the the he's there's light coming in with the window

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and he's standing back and his face is in shadow.

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's just a really good way to set him up that his intentions are opaque.

[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't really understand who this guy is.

[00:38:52] [SPEAKER_00]: And I love the fact that he's moved all his money to the Iron Bank.

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that was very clever.

[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_00]: He's been planning this escape for a while.

[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_04]: And we know that's true because Simon says so earlier in the season.

[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_04]: He's like, hey, we don't have any money because the Lord here,

[00:39:04] [SPEAKER_04]: he kept moving money away anticipating a war.

[00:39:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. Mm hmm.

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_04]: So so that I love a little consistency.

[00:39:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I love when they see things like that.

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_04]: There's reasons for the money moving around good stuff.

[00:39:17] [SPEAKER_00]: More sober kits of sober case or were cats for for

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Aegon and isn't realms delight wasn't that Renears?

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes. Yes. So that was another fun bit.

[00:39:31] [SPEAKER_04]: That's his jealousy of her, right?

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Aegon the realms delight.

[00:39:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And he really likes it in that when he says that you can see

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_00]: he's got this like very dreamy look in his eye when he says it.

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I thought he was being sarcastic there.

[00:39:43] [SPEAKER_04]: I thought that was more of like, OK, well,

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll never live up to my dear sister who my dad wanted on the throne the whole time.

[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_00]: OK. Interesting.

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_04]: All right. So next up is Rena running a 5K.

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_04]: There's nothing to say about this other than nothing.

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_04]: My girl did not pack provisions.

[00:40:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Gee, very ill considered.

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_04]: Wildly unprepared. Yeah.

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know what to say about any of this because

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_00]: where are we? Where is this whole thing going?

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, resolve that at least have resolved exactly one thing.

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, anyway, does she get the dragon?

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Does she die? We don't know.

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Have her show up in Dragonstone on the back of whatever dragon that is.

[00:40:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, could have resolved or even, you know, really,

[00:40:34] [SPEAKER_04]: what I think would have been the most satisfying non-battle

[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_04]: conclusion to this episode was see what happens.

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Does Reneara act on Allison's offer and does it succeed?

[00:40:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Resolve that and we don't even need a battle.

[00:40:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Even have it come to pieces and be really messy,

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_00]: like the real shit hit the fan and then now we're in this crazy mess

[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_00]: and then, you know, call it a season, right?

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_00]: And now it's like, wow, we've got pieces all over the table.

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, what are we going to do? Yeah. Right.

[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_04]: All right. All right.

[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Jace puts Ulf in his place.

[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Ulf stalls before going to dragon riding practice

[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_04]: and fails to recognize Jace after Ulf continues to be rude

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_04]: and begins to tussle Jace's hair.

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Jace threatens Ulf.

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Hugh apologizes for his companion's behavior.

[00:41:24] [SPEAKER_00]: When I was doing my rewatch and I had the subtitles on,

[00:41:28] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, he was like, dude, we were supposed to be in training.

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_00]: We kind of go and he's like,

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Ulf is like, yeah, yeah, I'll go.

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I'll find no worry about it.

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_00]: He's really funny.

[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_00]: He's like, you don't really hear that unless you're

[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_00]: you're looking for it at the top of the episode.

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Jake, we're watching Jace walk in.

[00:41:44] [SPEAKER_00]: But it's there.

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_00]: It's the setup is already there.

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. Oh, yeah.

[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_04]: I have the subtitles on when I watch the first time.

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I love this this whole situation.

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I really think that the strongest part

[00:41:56] [SPEAKER_04]: of this season was the setup of the dragon seeds.

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_04]: They really do feel like distinct people.

[00:42:02] [SPEAKER_04]: They feel like they have their own personalities,

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_04]: their own pros and cons.

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Although although Adam, I don't see a con with Adam

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_04]: other than maybe he might be he might be a little too.

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Quick to send me.

[00:42:14] [SPEAKER_04]: No, well, not quick to bend the knee.

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_04]: I think you might be able to eager to rush into battle.

[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_04]: OK. So I don't know.

[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's that's not me knowing anything from the book.

[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_04]: It's just the characterization they've given me right in the show.

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_00]: The whole thing between Ulf and Jace, though, I thought was good.

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_00]: It was again, I think this episode is is there's a lot of great scenes.

[00:42:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And but then the sum of its whole is missing again.

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_00]: But anyway, the whole thing of Ulf being

[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Ulf just cuts right to Jace's point

[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_00]: that these people are not highborn.

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And that just calls into question all of our legitimacy, especially mine.

[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And and Ulf is the guy to just really rub Jace completely the wrong way.

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_04]: I think.

[00:43:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Here's the thing, his his point is good.

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_04]: His reasons are bad. Yes.

[00:43:14] [SPEAKER_04]: His reason for not liking them is that they are lowborn

[00:43:18] [SPEAKER_04]: and that they make him seem closer to a lowborn person.

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_04]: What his reasons should be is these guys are mocking

[00:43:26] [SPEAKER_04]: a very these guys are mocking the new codes that they were just handed.

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's like it's like when we have an election in this country

[00:43:34] [SPEAKER_04]: and we want to elect someone serious to hold the nuclear codes.

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Sometimes we get concerned if that person doesn't seem to be taking it very seriously.

[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_04]: That's this right now.

[00:43:44] [SPEAKER_04]: This is a lethal weapon.

[00:43:46] [SPEAKER_04]: And those two have dragons that are bigger than any of the other dragons they have.

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_04]: So let's say you take down Vigar.

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_04]: What's the next biggest threat?

[00:43:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Hugh and Ulf. Right.

[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_04]: It's dangerous.

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_04]: And and Jace has a point there, but it has nothing to do with their heritage.

[00:44:02] [SPEAKER_04]: It has everything to do with their temperament.

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he even gets into the whole like this is a sacred inheritance,

[00:44:07] [SPEAKER_00]: which is why the dragon masters, the dragonkeepers were like, no,

[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_00]: we're out. This is ridiculous.

[00:44:15] [SPEAKER_00]: This is weird.

[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_04]: But your hair so dark, Jace.

[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_04]: No one's going to doubt we're Targaryens, but you.

[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I know, you know, you guys are probably talking about this on the on the lower cast.

[00:44:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I've seen a little cheater chatter here and there that Ulf is as odious

[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_00]: as he is on screen as he is in the books.

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Just he's just kind of.

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_04]: A drunkard, right?

[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_04]: He's just kind of a sleazy drunkard.

[00:44:43] [SPEAKER_04]: He's rude. He's obnoxious.

[00:44:44] [SPEAKER_04]: He doesn't have manners and clearly seem to be taking this whole thing seriously.

[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[00:44:50] [SPEAKER_00]: And it's only when Jace calls him to heal like or later when Adam even says something

[00:44:55] [SPEAKER_00]: like no, no, Jace says something when he because he talks about sharp point.

[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Now Adam says something to him too.

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_04]: He says, yeah, he says there's plenty of time to see which one of us is a coward

[00:45:04] [SPEAKER_00]: and and Jace says, yeah, sharp point just got torched.

[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_00]: So are you man?

[00:45:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you going to be able to handle that kind of right?

[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:45:14] [SPEAKER_04]: So Corliss is back and he's ready to give sage advice and rename his ship.

[00:45:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Reneer tells Corliss she hopes the new dragon advantage will be a deterrent.

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Corliss, along with the rest of us, rolls his eyes and tells her

[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Aemond is not going to be deterred strike while he she can.

[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_04]: He renames his ship the queen whoever was.

[00:45:36] [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, he says the queen who never was.

[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was the queen who ever was.

[00:45:41] [SPEAKER_00]: No, no, I actually I thought

[00:45:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I heard that's the name of the episode, right?

[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Is whoever was so it's a play on

[00:45:50] [SPEAKER_00]: it's a play on the episode.

[00:45:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Huh? Yeah.

[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Huh?

[00:45:55] [SPEAKER_04]: All right, I'm going to change it right now live in the show.

[00:45:57] [SPEAKER_04]: God, you're hearing it now.

[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Here you go.

[00:45:59] [SPEAKER_04]: The queen who never was, I guess.

[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_04]: So listeners, you'll remember that was the

[00:46:04] [SPEAKER_04]: the sober cat if we're going to go back to that word for

[00:46:09] [SPEAKER_04]: for Renee, Renees, Renees is now deceased wife.

[00:46:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_04]: As she was passed over at the Great Council in favor of Viseras.

[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_00]: So I have a question

[00:46:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and this is not a rhetorical question.

[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_00]: It's just sort of like a more WTF question.

[00:46:29] [SPEAKER_00]: What is the hand doing about to go out on blockade?

[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, he should be he's got other things to do than to be like

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_00]: captaining the ship.

[00:46:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I just find that very strange.

[00:46:41] [SPEAKER_00]: However, I do think his advice is correct, which is strike quickly.

[00:46:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And it really annoyed me that Renees was sort of in this,

[00:46:51] [SPEAKER_00]: oh, we have deterrence now mode.

[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like it really frustrated me because it wasn't part of,

[00:46:58] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, the arc wasn't she wasn't moving forward.

[00:47:01] [SPEAKER_00]: And I go, no, no, no.

[00:47:02] [SPEAKER_00]: So it was really annoying.

[00:47:04] [SPEAKER_04]: But what was satisfying was she took the advice.

[00:47:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that's true.

[00:47:09] [SPEAKER_00]: She did take the advice.

[00:47:10] [SPEAKER_04]: The next scene we see with her, she's taking the advice,

[00:47:13] [SPEAKER_04]: which is really, I think I think that's satisfying character growth.

[00:47:16] [SPEAKER_04]: And you could see even in that moment, she's doubting what she's saying.

[00:47:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Like I really want it to be deterrence.

[00:47:21] [SPEAKER_04]: He's like, look, kid, I'm knowing you for a long time.

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_04]: I've known him for a long time.

[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_04]: You're not going to deter this kid.

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Go hit him where it hurts.

[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.

[00:47:29] [SPEAKER_04]: She right away is just like, you know, I know you're right,

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_04]: even though I don't want you to be.

[00:47:34] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's good writing.

[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_00]: It is.

[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, yeah.

[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a confusing episode, I think, for me.

[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a little bit of whiplash.

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:47:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Next up, Broom makes a move.

[00:47:49] [SPEAKER_04]: He arrives at Harren Hall and offers to serve Damon as he believes

[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Reneira isn't fit for the job and that the realm needs a king.

[00:47:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Damon calls him a turn bloke but takes no action.

[00:48:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Did you like the whole the winds of Harren Hall being like traitor?

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't catch that on the live watch, but I caught it on the

[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_00]: on my rewatch with the subtitles.

[00:48:10] [SPEAKER_00]: And I was like, oh, that was interesting.

[00:48:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I really liked it when he's like, what the fuck was that?

[00:48:14] [SPEAKER_04]: He turns around.

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Doesn't know what it is.

[00:48:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I did like learning the fact that cracksies enjoys a little bacon for breakfast.

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_04]: He loves it.

[00:48:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, he loves it.

[00:48:23] [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't catch that actually.

[00:48:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's when the one of the River Lords is like, our sheep got

[00:48:28] [SPEAKER_00]: sold by somebody else and I've only got pigs.

[00:48:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And Damon says, yeah, bring him.

[00:48:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Cracksie likes him.

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_00]: So they're going to be marching in two days time.

[00:48:38] [SPEAKER_00]: So again, here we have all of this culmination, the, you know,

[00:48:42] [SPEAKER_00]: the drums of war are beating and everybody's, you know, two days,

[00:48:46] [SPEAKER_00]: two days, two days were about to go.

[00:48:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is usually something you do in a penultimate episode.

[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway, right.

[00:48:51] [SPEAKER_04]: All right.

[00:48:53] [SPEAKER_04]: All right.

[00:48:53] [SPEAKER_04]: I do like you in that drum all night.

[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Broom saying to David, like he's like, how do you like my army?

[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_00]: And he's like, it's very large.

[00:49:02] [SPEAKER_00]: We've got sausages and very large army condos.

[00:49:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And sir Simon for the win there.

[00:49:11] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.

[00:49:12] [SPEAKER_04]: So, so what's, you know, sir Simon acting like a Druth Plagueis.

[00:49:17] [SPEAKER_04]: But anyway, my whole point is what is Broom's next move?

[00:49:22] [SPEAKER_04]: We is he going to just fall in line?

[00:49:25] [SPEAKER_00]: We see in that scene as Damon is whipping up everybody's

[00:49:32] [SPEAKER_00]: ardor Broom skulks.

[00:49:35] [SPEAKER_00]: He doesn't only skulk away.

[00:49:36] [SPEAKER_00]: He scurries away.

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_00]: He actively, and I watched this a couple of times.

[00:49:41] [SPEAKER_00]: He actively sort of fights his way to get back away from Damon as Damon's,

[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, whipping everybody up.

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_00]: So not not a good look for Broom.

[00:49:50] [SPEAKER_04]: But he did say in this scene, I would never serve the Greens.

[00:49:53] [SPEAKER_04]: He made that very clear.

[00:49:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[00:49:55] [SPEAKER_04]: So what is his move?

[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_00]: But he's he's got to be careful of Damon because, you know, Damon's,

[00:50:04] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, he'll turn to the other way now.

[00:50:07] [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, is he is he is he's worried for his safety is the way that I read

[00:50:14] [SPEAKER_00]: that final scurrying away.

[00:50:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, you know what else?

[00:50:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I've never seen Damon like be towered over before.

[00:50:24] [SPEAKER_04]: And Broom's tall.

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I guess.

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he is.

[00:50:28] [SPEAKER_04]: He is as any looking at this shot and the whole scene, he's just kind of

[00:50:31] [SPEAKER_04]: looming over Damon.

[00:50:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, anyway, one more scene before we go to break.

[00:50:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Amen continues his brutality.

[00:50:40] [SPEAKER_04]: He implements a search requirement for all vessels in and out of King's Landing.

[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Jasper Wild implores Amen to spare the fishing boats for the sake of the city's

[00:50:49] [SPEAKER_04]: food stores, but Amen refuses.

[00:50:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I the only thing I really took away from this scene is that

[00:50:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Amond is building the bonfire underneath King's Landing.

[00:51:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And again, a zig where we zagged.

[00:51:02] [SPEAKER_00]: We were building to that.

[00:51:04] [SPEAKER_00]: And with Misari is mission and, you know, whispering around the town

[00:51:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and getting that riled up, you know, getting everybody riled up

[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_00]: and then sending in the relief boats.

[00:51:15] [SPEAKER_00]: And the only thing that ended up resulting in was a little cut on

[00:51:19] [SPEAKER_00]: Allison's cheek and Helena getting a little shock.

[00:51:24] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, you know, the he's going to do that.

[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_00]: It's we know that the results are going to be bad for the small folk.

[00:51:33] [SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know, there's not much more to say about the scene.

[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think he's just going to keep building up the pressure under

[00:51:38] [SPEAKER_04]: himself and under under the greens.

[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[00:51:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Now, the one thing is that the one thing that the blacks did

[00:51:44] [SPEAKER_04]: that might undercut their position in King's Landing is they did

[00:51:47] [SPEAKER_04]: kind of kidnap all the blonde haired people, didn't they?

[00:51:51] [SPEAKER_04]: I know that it was a voluntary thing, but like if you're starving

[00:51:56] [SPEAKER_04]: and they say, Hey, come ride a dragon and you can be a lord or a lady.

[00:52:01] [SPEAKER_04]: I think I think you probably go.

[00:52:03] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think so.

[00:52:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And and when these when the dragon seeds show back up on the backs of dragons,

[00:52:12] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, those are going to be interesting folk hero stories.

[00:52:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. So any other thoughts on Amon's scene here?

[00:52:20] [SPEAKER_00]: No, that's really it.

[00:52:21] [SPEAKER_00]: Like you said, there's just so many scenes where it's like,

[00:52:24] [SPEAKER_00]: OK, one bullet point like here is a fact.

[00:52:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's just like a fact.

[00:52:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. All right.

[00:52:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's take a quick break.

[00:52:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Cool. And we'll be back soon.

[00:52:34] [SPEAKER_04]: We'll be right back or House of the Dragon.

[00:52:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Back with more House of the Dragon.

[00:52:48] [SPEAKER_04]: All right, my next scene is called Alice in to remember she's apparently

[00:52:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Allison offers to take Helena away before Amon arrives to recruit her

[00:52:59] [SPEAKER_04]: as a dragon rider.

[00:53:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Allison defends her, warding him away.

[00:53:02] [SPEAKER_04]: She then approaches Grand Maester or Wilde to obtain passage somewhere.

[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't say this before when we were talking about that, the Agon scene.

[00:53:11] [SPEAKER_00]: But Orwell is a good man.

[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_00]: He's been a really solid character, navigating a really tricky situation

[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_00]: and just managing to keep his head and to, you know, get his job done.

[00:53:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I like him.

[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I was a little suspicious of him because he seemed to go along

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_04]: with the Greens pretty closely at the same time.

[00:53:34] [SPEAKER_04]: I think he's just kind of trying to survive and I respect it.

[00:53:37] [SPEAKER_00]: He's just trying to be, hey, look, I'm just the Grand Maester.

[00:53:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I got my Maesterly things to do, right?

[00:53:43] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, it's chains heavy and I don't have any time for your bullshit.

[00:53:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Green.

[00:53:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought this was interesting.

[00:53:51] [SPEAKER_00]: One part of this scene was interesting where it was really Helena

[00:53:55] [SPEAKER_00]: speaking to Allison's interstate with a number of things.

[00:54:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And Allison could kind of, I think part of Allison's

[00:54:03] [SPEAKER_00]: coming around. Yeah, she went on her little nature walk, but then also

[00:54:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and there's another thing.

[00:54:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I feel bad because I just feel like I'm

[00:54:13] [SPEAKER_00]: piling on to the episode.

[00:54:15] [SPEAKER_00]: What caused Allison to have a crisis to come back into?

[00:54:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Like what was the trigger to have her come back to the city

[00:54:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and try and grab her daughter?

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know, right?

[00:54:26] [SPEAKER_00]: They just, you know, she just showed up and she's talking to Allison.

[00:54:29] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, maybe she heard about a heard about SharePoint being burned.

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_00]: Maybe, I don't know, but she was in the woods, right?

[00:54:34] [SPEAKER_00]: And she was in the woods.

[00:54:36] [SPEAKER_00]: So anyway, I just I just liked Helena

[00:54:40] [SPEAKER_00]: speaking to Allison's interstate of turmoil and having this place

[00:54:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and role in Allison's decision to seek out Rara and Nira later on.

[00:54:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. Yeah, I mean, we don't know the timing of things.

[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to defend this scene for you. Don't worry.

[00:54:56] [SPEAKER_04]: We don't know the timing of things.

[00:54:58] [SPEAKER_04]: She could have been back for a few days and then this happens.

[00:55:00] [SPEAKER_04]: That's true. Right.

[00:55:01] [SPEAKER_04]: We don't know. We don't know.

[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_00]: There's there's they're jumping around us so much.

[00:55:05] [SPEAKER_04]: And I don't think they need to really spell out something like that.

[00:55:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's fine.

[00:55:09] [SPEAKER_04]: That's fine.

[00:55:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I will say we see Allison in blue again.

[00:55:13] [SPEAKER_04]: She's continued to wear blue, something my wife, Maya, who showed up on the pod once

[00:55:18] [SPEAKER_04]: want something she brought up is wasn't that the colors of her mother's house?

[00:55:23] [SPEAKER_04]: And I looked it up in the show only.

[00:55:26] [SPEAKER_04]: It looks like in the show only.

[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Her mother was from House Florent, which has blue flowers around a fox on the sigil.

[00:55:33] [SPEAKER_04]: OK, so this is all I want to be like my mother and not my dad.

[00:55:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. Right.

[00:55:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I think that's nice.

[00:55:40] [SPEAKER_00]: She no longer has Otto or her husband

[00:55:43] [SPEAKER_00]: or her children really there.

[00:55:46] [SPEAKER_00]: So she's sort of suddenly free, right?

[00:55:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Of all of those constraints. Right.

[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_00]: So she's referring to that.

[00:55:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Did you see how Helena was kind of smiling

[00:55:55] [SPEAKER_04]: when she was thinking about getting out of the city?

[00:55:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm hmm. Mm hmm.

[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_00]: And I liked the comment she says to

[00:56:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Amy and I won't burn anyone like, you know, with the subtext being like you did.

[00:56:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, later, she abandons the subtext anyway.

[00:56:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, I know. But at least in that moment it was like, yeah,

[00:56:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not doing what you did, my friend.

[00:56:18] [SPEAKER_00]: That's not that.

[00:56:19] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, my brother, that's not that's not what's happening.

[00:56:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:56:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Meanwhile, Orwell is getting all the secrets of everybody.

[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_04]: He's going to book her passage and Allison's been busy.

[00:56:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I wonder, does Aiman know about any of her movements?

[00:56:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Because it seems like she's leaving a pretty big trail.

[00:56:34] [SPEAKER_00]: This is a very leaky kingdom, you know, keep and in city.

[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. The spy network is not great.

[00:56:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. And again, spy network way.

[00:56:47] [SPEAKER_04]: I do think that's one of the complaints I've had about I've had

[00:56:49] [SPEAKER_04]: about the season is the Laris spy network has just vanished.

[00:56:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, there's just nothing there.

[00:56:57] [SPEAKER_04]: You know what I bet it is?

[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_04]: You know what I bet it is?

[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_04]: He put them all in Allison's quarters.

[00:57:02] [SPEAKER_04]: So they're too busy trying to draw sketches of her feet.

[00:57:05] [SPEAKER_00]: So they were building that up with her handmaidens.

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And then last season, they were building up his little network

[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_00]: with the little bee things on the, you know, the bells of his guys.

[00:57:14] [SPEAKER_00]: We never see them again.

[00:57:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. They're kind of letting go of threads here

[00:57:18] [SPEAKER_04]: that I wish they wouldn't even just one scene this season

[00:57:21] [SPEAKER_04]: where we see some some hint of those insects and symbols.

[00:57:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that would have been cool.

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Or yeah, like giving him him giving a couple of orders,

[00:57:29] [SPEAKER_00]: go do this, you know, go go grab the person something.

[00:57:32] [SPEAKER_04]: And again, you know, we're talking about like, can we use budget

[00:57:35] [SPEAKER_04]: to excuse some of these shortcomings?

[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think you can for that.

[00:57:38] [SPEAKER_04]: That's right. Yeah.

[00:57:39] [SPEAKER_00]: That's just writing. Yep. Yep.

[00:57:42] [SPEAKER_04]: All right.

[00:57:42] [SPEAKER_04]: Kristen Cole take a he take a freshman philosophy one on one course

[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_04]: and he learns what nihilism is.

[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Gwane tries to challenge Crystal over his sister's honor,

[00:57:54] [SPEAKER_04]: but Cole is on phase.

[00:57:55] [SPEAKER_04]: He talks about the pointless list,

[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_04]: pointlessness of their lives in a war between dragons

[00:58:00] [SPEAKER_04]: and depresses Gwane into defeat.

[00:58:02] [SPEAKER_00]: How did Gwane come to the conclusion

[00:58:06] [SPEAKER_00]: that he needed to put a sword next to Cole's neck?

[00:58:10] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know.

[00:58:11] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, Cole was sniffing his daughter, his granddaughter,

[00:58:14] [SPEAKER_04]: sniffing his sister's boob sweat.

[00:58:16] [SPEAKER_00]: But she gave him that favor openly.

[00:58:19] [SPEAKER_00]: He asked for the favor of the queen, you know, to, you know,

[00:58:23] [SPEAKER_00]: like it was in the open.

[00:58:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. But has he ever sniffed it in public before?

[00:58:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. OK. That's kind of weird.

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_00]: But I don't know.

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_00]: That doesn't does that give you an excuse to, you know,

[00:58:35] [SPEAKER_00]: challenge, you know, your hand of the king and and Kings Guard,

[00:58:40] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, Lord Commander of the Kings Guard.

[00:58:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[00:58:42] [SPEAKER_00]: It just seemed like a little bit of seemed a little out of the blue.

[00:58:45] [SPEAKER_00]: That he just, you know, how he's out in the woods.

[00:58:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, how did he figure that out?

[00:58:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I think he suspected that, like, what is his evidence to actually do that?

[00:58:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, I don't want to nitpick too much on that.

[00:58:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I think relative to the rest of this episode,

[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_04]: this was one of my my more favorite scenes.

[00:59:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. I think the I think Cole's nihilism is great.

[00:59:08] [SPEAKER_00]: And I love the fact that Gwane just has to sit down at the end.

[00:59:12] [SPEAKER_04]: He's like, oh, you're right.

[00:59:14] [SPEAKER_04]: It's like he just gave him an edible.

[00:59:16] [SPEAKER_04]: He's like, oh, man.

[00:59:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And great writing, you know,

[00:59:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Minner like dusts and, you know, it's just all of that stuff was really good.

[00:59:28] [SPEAKER_04]: I want to talk about Cole's worldview here that all men are corrupt.

[00:59:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Do you believe that?

[00:59:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Because I don't.

[00:59:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I think he believes it.

[00:59:37] [SPEAKER_00]: All men are corruptible.

[00:59:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm hmm.

[00:59:41] [SPEAKER_00]: It's it's I think it's a

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I might get in trouble for saying this.

[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it might be a feature, not a bug.

[00:59:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It's part of it's something that's built into us

[00:59:50] [SPEAKER_00]: because it's just time and time and time again as we look at human history.

[00:59:54] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, the the the susceptibility to power and the excesses of power

[01:00:00] [SPEAKER_00]: are all just per per per pervasive.

[01:00:05] [SPEAKER_00]: We've never been able to shake it no matter what systems and structures

[01:00:08] [SPEAKER_00]: we try to put into place.

[01:00:10] [SPEAKER_00]: You give somebody enough power and it doesn't go well, generally speaking.

[01:00:17] [SPEAKER_04]: I think what I'm thinking with him

[01:00:21] [SPEAKER_04]: he seems to think once you sinned may as well lean into it.

[01:00:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Based on based on the way he's talking, oh, all men are corrupt.

[01:00:31] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, all men are corrupt.

[01:00:33] [SPEAKER_04]: They don't stick by their vows either.

[01:00:35] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think that, OK,

[01:00:37] [SPEAKER_04]: I would agree that nobody follows all the rules 100 percent of the time.

[01:00:41] [SPEAKER_04]: People speed over the speed limit, right?

[01:00:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Like just just little things, but.

[01:00:46] [SPEAKER_04]: That doesn't mean like just because you go 10 miles over the speed limit

[01:00:49] [SPEAKER_04]: doesn't mean you need to run somebody over with your car.

[01:00:52] [SPEAKER_04]: You know what I mean?

[01:00:53] [SPEAKER_04]: There is a moral relativism there that he's completely lost the plot of.

[01:00:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, agreed.

[01:01:00] [SPEAKER_00]: What does he say?

[01:01:03] [SPEAKER_00]: What is it here?

[01:01:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Honor is a mist that melts in the morning.

[01:01:07] [SPEAKER_04]: For you, Kroll, I just again,

[01:01:11] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that we should hold people to the standard of perfection,

[01:01:15] [SPEAKER_04]: but we should hold people accountable for what they do.

[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_04]: And he's never been held accountable for what he's done.

[01:01:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. Not once.

[01:01:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. He goes, oh, well, she saved me twice.

[01:01:22] [SPEAKER_04]: It's like, oh, man, you just you just don't get it.

[01:01:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Like you just because you broke your oath of chastity

[01:01:30] [SPEAKER_04]: did not mean you needed to kill somebody at a wedding.

[01:01:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Did not mean you needed to seduce the queen and break it again.

[01:01:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Did not mean that you had to launch a 20 year vendetta over a woman

[01:01:41] [SPEAKER_04]: who rejected your advances.

[01:01:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I just don't.

[01:01:45] [SPEAKER_04]: And it did not mean that you had to send the Eric Eric twins to their death.

[01:01:51] [SPEAKER_04]: All of these things that were choices at every single point.

[01:01:55] [SPEAKER_04]: And he just goes, well, I made this one mistake outside of Reneiros chambers once.

[01:01:59] [SPEAKER_04]: So now I have to make keep making the wrong choices.

[01:02:02] [SPEAKER_04]: No, every day is a new choice.

[01:02:04] [SPEAKER_04]: Every situation is a new choice.

[01:02:06] [SPEAKER_04]: And this guy just straight up sucks because he just gave up

[01:02:08] [SPEAKER_04]: the minute that a girl said, I'm not into you.

[01:02:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas Allison.

[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Is trying to apply some corrective

[01:02:20] [SPEAKER_00]: action by going to see Reneiro later.

[01:02:23] [SPEAKER_00]: So so even though and she's got to make some painful choices

[01:02:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and she's got to fess up to some painful stuff, that's the truth of it.

[01:02:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Right? If you're going to if you're going to restore some things,

[01:02:33] [SPEAKER_00]: then you've got to put in some of the work.

[01:02:35] [SPEAKER_00]: And Cole is just willing to go, well, we're just dust in the face of dragons.

[01:02:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And and always woe is me.

[01:02:43] [SPEAKER_00]: What was us?

[01:02:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I send so what kind of I don't know if it's so what he's

[01:02:50] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah, he's really in a pit of despair.

[01:02:52] [SPEAKER_00]: He's in a real mud pit.

[01:02:54] [SPEAKER_04]: He's dug it himself.

[01:02:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Sorry, I cannot feel sympathy for Cole here.

[01:02:59] [SPEAKER_04]: But but again, like I really do think this is great writing.

[01:03:03] [SPEAKER_04]: This is because this is a villain that people know in real life.

[01:03:06] [SPEAKER_04]: These people who who give up after making a mistake and say, sure.

[01:03:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. That's the end of it.

[01:03:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to just keep being a bad person.

[01:03:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm going to lean into it.

[01:03:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Because again, I truly don't believe there is a person who is born a bad person.

[01:03:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I think we all make choices and we every single day, no matter what you've done

[01:03:28] [SPEAKER_04]: before you have the choice to do something good today.

[01:03:31] [SPEAKER_04]: And he does not believe that he believes that once you've done one bad thing,

[01:03:35] [SPEAKER_04]: you got to keep going.

[01:03:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And he's done a lot.

[01:03:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he says women have brought me grief after grief.

[01:03:41] [SPEAKER_00]: So no.

[01:03:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Wait, no, no, no.

[01:03:44] [SPEAKER_04]: I know I know I know I'm saying I disagree with him, not you.

[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. Yeah.

[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. Yeah.

[01:03:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Because he says grief after grief, which I really like the writing of because,

[01:03:52] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah, it's Renea and Allison.

[01:03:54] [SPEAKER_00]: That's grief and that's grief that you've because you were chasing those.

[01:03:58] [SPEAKER_00]: And he says, you know, women have brought me nothing but grief and upon grief.

[01:04:02] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I was trying to figure out he says she saved me from the headman's

[01:04:09] [SPEAKER_00]: axe twice and I was trying to figure out what were the two occasions?

[01:04:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, he said, did he say the headman hence been asked twice

[01:04:18] [SPEAKER_04]: because he said once by the headman and twice by me, once by the headman

[01:04:22] [SPEAKER_04]: and once by me.

[01:04:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought he said twice by the headsman.

[01:04:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think so.

[01:04:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I think he said once from the headsman and once from me.

[01:04:29] [SPEAKER_04]: I think he said he said that she saved my life twice

[01:04:32] [SPEAKER_04]: and then he listed those two sources.

[01:04:35] [SPEAKER_04]: OK, because because that would be where he was about to fall on his sword

[01:04:38] [SPEAKER_04]: in the godswood.

[01:04:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's right.

[01:04:41] [SPEAKER_00]: That's right. I forgot about that.

[01:04:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. And then I guess the other one would would have been the murder

[01:04:45] [SPEAKER_00]: of Leonor's lover.

[01:04:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. The judgment of Joffrey, which they didn't show us.

[01:04:51] [SPEAKER_00]: They just said he was just suddenly.

[01:04:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, he's there.

[01:04:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. Well, they immediately time skip from there.

[01:04:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. Yeah.

[01:04:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, anyway, yeah.

[01:05:01] [SPEAKER_04]: So I pretty sure that's what they said.

[01:05:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Somebody could write in.

[01:05:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Everybody wrote into correct me about Sarah next last week.

[01:05:05] [SPEAKER_04]: So they could they could write into correct me about this this week.

[01:05:08] [SPEAKER_04]: That's fine.

[01:05:09] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm crankier this week.

[01:05:10] [SPEAKER_04]: So right in all you want.

[01:05:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Thailand somehow wins.

[01:05:15] [SPEAKER_04]: That's the next section.

[01:05:16] [SPEAKER_04]: After almost losing to Lohar, Thailand

[01:05:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Lannister lands some good hits on the enemy,

[01:05:24] [SPEAKER_04]: earning the respect of Lohar at a feast.

[01:05:27] [SPEAKER_04]: She agrees to help him break the blockade and offers to allow him

[01:05:30] [SPEAKER_04]: to impregnate her wives, to which he asks how many.

[01:05:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Did you think he was excited by that?

[01:05:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was more still.

[01:05:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I think I thought he was weirded out by the.

[01:05:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I thought he was terrified.

[01:05:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. OK, that's that's what I thought.

[01:05:47] [SPEAKER_00]: He was like, oh my God, like, what do I have to do?

[01:05:49] [SPEAKER_00]: This is crazy. Mm hmm.

[01:05:50] [SPEAKER_00]: So.

[01:05:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think every interaction with this woman is

[01:05:55] [SPEAKER_04]: he's just terrified of it.

[01:05:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[01:05:59] [SPEAKER_00]: So we don't get an army fighting.

[01:06:01] [SPEAKER_00]: We get a mud fight.

[01:06:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Didn't love it.

[01:06:04] [SPEAKER_04]: It was fine.

[01:06:05] [SPEAKER_04]: It was fine.

[01:06:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[01:06:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought there'd be a bigger crowd, too,

[01:06:08] [SPEAKER_00]: because the let's like the King's Envoy and like all the triarchy.

[01:06:12] [SPEAKER_04]: So there was I feel like they see her fight somebody in the mud

[01:06:16] [SPEAKER_04]: every single day. It's old news.

[01:06:18] [SPEAKER_04]: Loa's fighting again.

[01:06:19] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll catch the matinee.

[01:06:21] [SPEAKER_00]: There was somebody shouted out in the live chat of the discord

[01:06:25] [SPEAKER_00]: last night that there was somebody with blue hair.

[01:06:29] [SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know what the significance of blue hair in

[01:06:34] [SPEAKER_04]: would be Tyroshi, I believe.

[01:06:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's see.

[01:06:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's double check.

[01:06:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Blue hair.

[01:06:40] [SPEAKER_04]: See, I can't.

[01:06:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I don't want to get spoiled.

[01:06:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[01:06:44] [SPEAKER_04]: It is a Tyroshi.

[01:06:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, so the Tyroshi have blue hair

[01:06:50] [SPEAKER_04]: and you'll remember Dario Naharis, the original one,

[01:06:53] [SPEAKER_04]: not the one where they just made him a basic white guy.

[01:06:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[01:06:57] [SPEAKER_00]: A Swarthi guy.

[01:06:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Mm hmm.

[01:07:00] [SPEAKER_04]: But yeah, so that's the Tyroshi thing.

[01:07:02] [SPEAKER_00]: OK.

[01:07:02] [SPEAKER_04]: And then I mistakenly on the instant take called her

[01:07:07] [SPEAKER_04]: Lohar Tyroshi, but she is Lyseni.

[01:07:09] [SPEAKER_04]: OK, it's from Lys.

[01:07:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Lease. Got it.

[01:07:12] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[01:07:14] [SPEAKER_00]: All right. I don't have much.

[01:07:15] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have much more to add to this.

[01:07:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. So let's go to Bela and Jace.

[01:07:20] [SPEAKER_04]: Jace pouts until Bela finds him

[01:07:23] [SPEAKER_04]: and tells him to prove he's worthy

[01:07:24] [SPEAKER_04]: because of who he is, not what he is.

[01:07:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought this was a good scene.

[01:07:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was.

[01:07:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Jace needing a

[01:07:35] [SPEAKER_00]: note to get sort of needs like a slap in the back of the head.

[01:07:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Basically, that's what she did

[01:07:41] [SPEAKER_00]: in a very in a very supportive

[01:07:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and a spousal kind of way.

[01:07:48] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, yeah, dude, come on, get get with it.

[01:07:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I know they're not married yet.

[01:07:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I just say she comes in the room and she goes, stop pouting.

[01:07:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm not pouting.

[01:07:56] [SPEAKER_04]: And then he goes and then she says, well, what would you call it?

[01:07:59] [SPEAKER_04]: And I so wanted him to say, I knew he wasn't going to say it.

[01:08:02] [SPEAKER_04]: But when she goes, what would you call it?

[01:08:04] [SPEAKER_04]: I want him to go meowing.

[01:08:08] [SPEAKER_00]: You can overdub that.

[01:08:09] [SPEAKER_00]: You could dub that in yourself, I think.

[01:08:11] [SPEAKER_04]: That's true. I can make a tech talk about it.

[01:08:14] [SPEAKER_00]: This goes into the whole legitimacy stuff.

[01:08:17] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think it's really good.

[01:08:18] [SPEAKER_00]: It's it's, you know, your resentment diminishes you.

[01:08:23] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, if you if if you hear these whispers all the time,

[01:08:26] [SPEAKER_00]: then, you know, stand up and be the man

[01:08:28] [SPEAKER_00]: that you know yourself to be and stop playing into the

[01:08:33] [SPEAKER_00]: the the the social construction that's going on around you.

[01:08:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Break through it a little bit.

[01:08:39] [SPEAKER_04]: I agree with that.

[01:08:40] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think she brings up a good point, right?

[01:08:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Which is, well, you're not the first person

[01:08:45] [SPEAKER_04]: who has been the illegitimate child of a such a lord or lady.

[01:08:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, come on.

[01:08:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Look at my grandpa.

[01:08:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Grandpa, but with his his your coreless.

[01:08:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, OK.

[01:08:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, I think what they're not is people who actually inherit the.

[01:09:01] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, no, I was just trying to just talk.

[01:09:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I was just pointing more to the, you know, to the whole bastard story.

[01:09:07] [SPEAKER_04]: So even, you know, you get close enough with the king or queen,

[01:09:09] [SPEAKER_04]: they'll legitimize the bastard.

[01:09:11] [SPEAKER_04]: And then that's just that's just there, right?

[01:09:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, you you saw the way in Game of Thrones.

[01:09:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I'll give you an example.

[01:09:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Ramsey Snow became Ramsey Bolton. Right.

[01:09:20] [SPEAKER_00]: And and that's

[01:09:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm not complaining about Jace's character.

[01:09:27] [SPEAKER_00]: This is this is his character, but it's like, dude,

[01:09:29] [SPEAKER_00]: you you are by blood the firstborn of the queen

[01:09:36] [SPEAKER_00]: who was, you know, the of the legitimate queen and by decree.

[01:09:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. So you've got blood and decree as your title.

[01:09:45] [SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to prove anything to anybody.

[01:09:47] [SPEAKER_00]: All right. You may have to fight a little bit,

[01:09:49] [SPEAKER_00]: but you you nobody can say that you don't have a legitimate claim.

[01:09:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. They could they could fight you for the claim,

[01:09:55] [SPEAKER_00]: but you have a claim.

[01:09:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I think what Baylor is saying is be the kind of person

[01:10:00] [SPEAKER_04]: that they'll want to follow.

[01:10:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, like they owe it that they owe it to you because they don't.

[01:10:05] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a really good point.

[01:10:07] [SPEAKER_00]: That's a really good point.

[01:10:08] [SPEAKER_04]: I like go out there and go to Ulf and Hugh and and Adam.

[01:10:12] [SPEAKER_04]: I always forget Adam

[01:10:13] [SPEAKER_04]: because he feels like a more professional dragon rider already.

[01:10:16] [SPEAKER_04]: But go to the three dragon riders.

[01:10:19] [SPEAKER_04]: And just be like a really good mentor

[01:10:22] [SPEAKER_04]: and and make them feel like they want to follow you.

[01:10:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Don't go, you don't understand the the sacred nature of what you've been handed.

[01:10:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Be a leader, right? Step up. Yeah.

[01:10:35] [SPEAKER_04]: My God, stop meowing a little.

[01:10:39] [SPEAKER_04]: All right. Then we go to the uncomfortable dinner

[01:10:42] [SPEAKER_04]: where Hugh, Adam of Hall and Ulf come to dinner.

[01:10:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Jay stares them down the whole time before

[01:10:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Reneira lays out her plan to attack castrally rock in Old Town in two days.

[01:10:54] [SPEAKER_04]: The small folk begin to take issue with harming innocence,

[01:10:57] [SPEAKER_04]: but are interrupted by a message from Simon Strong for Reneira.

[01:11:00] [SPEAKER_04]: He tells her that Damon is wavering.

[01:11:04] [SPEAKER_00]: Silver wings ago or she is.

[01:11:06] [SPEAKER_00]: That was a really bad English accent.

[01:11:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm very sorry to everyone.

[01:11:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I just loved all of line.

[01:11:13] [SPEAKER_04]: It was very off sucks.

[01:11:15] [SPEAKER_00]: He does. He does.

[01:11:20] [SPEAKER_00]: This.

[01:11:21] [SPEAKER_00]: So we were debating this all last week,

[01:11:24] [SPEAKER_00]: this whole thing of, you know, what do you do with the

[01:11:27] [SPEAKER_00]: Drunken sailor, a drunken sailor and an old fun dragon.

[01:11:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And what's going to happen when

[01:11:34] [SPEAKER_00]: the commander of the armies, the queen says, OK,

[01:11:38] [SPEAKER_00]: unfortunately, not fortunately or unfortunately,

[01:11:41] [SPEAKER_00]: she should, you know, she's just going to say, do this.

[01:11:44] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you going to be able to do that?

[01:11:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. Whatever that is,

[01:11:48] [SPEAKER_04]: are you going to be able to act as a team to take down there?

[01:11:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Because that's what it's going to take.

[01:11:56] [SPEAKER_00]: So and then I also, you know, Nate brought up

[01:12:00] [SPEAKER_00]: this whole thing previously,

[01:12:03] [SPEAKER_00]: which is the World War Two dropping the atomic bomb scenario.

[01:12:09] [SPEAKER_00]: Like, is it justifiable to,

[01:12:12] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, do that kind of destruction on that kind of scale

[01:12:17] [SPEAKER_00]: in order to potentially, potentially

[01:12:21] [SPEAKER_00]: stop, you know, future perceived even greater scale.

[01:12:26] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. It's a kind of is that a trolley problem kind of thing?

[01:12:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Kind of. And the dragon is even less severe than the atomic bomb

[01:12:32] [SPEAKER_04]: because the atomic bomb had lasting radiation effects

[01:12:35] [SPEAKER_04]: that made the land uninhabitable and had lasting health problems for generations.

[01:12:39] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. Whereas the dragons, yeah, you get burned alive.

[01:12:42] [SPEAKER_04]: But that's it. That's it.

[01:12:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Whatever whoever dies in that aftermath, immediate aftermath is that's the damage.

[01:12:47] [SPEAKER_00]: And you could probably gain

[01:12:51] [SPEAKER_00]: capitulation pretty quickly by, you know, by a couple of strafing runs

[01:12:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and people would give up, right? Yeah.

[01:12:58] [SPEAKER_04]: I think you go there, you just show up with the dragon

[01:13:02] [SPEAKER_04]: and they will bend the knee.

[01:13:03] [SPEAKER_04]: If Jason Lannister was not there, they're just going to bend the knee.

[01:13:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[01:13:11] [SPEAKER_00]: When she leaves and she pulls Adam

[01:13:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and then later we learn that, you know, he's flying air patrol for her.

[01:13:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think Adam was the right choice of all the people

[01:13:25] [SPEAKER_00]: that she could have picked from the table?

[01:13:26] [SPEAKER_04]: Yes, absolutely he was. I agree.

[01:13:30] [SPEAKER_04]: The only one to just come immediately didn't need to already

[01:13:34] [SPEAKER_04]: had a dragon in Bentheny.

[01:13:36] [SPEAKER_04]: Plus, you need the designated survivor of Jace.

[01:13:39] [SPEAKER_04]: And do you think she needs to occasionally remind Jace that that's the reason

[01:13:43] [SPEAKER_04]: and not just leave him to be angry about it?

[01:13:48] [SPEAKER_00]: The what about

[01:13:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Bayla, which you have taken Bayla as a potential?

[01:13:56] [SPEAKER_04]: She's supposed to be Queen next.

[01:13:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Because I thought Bayla was a better like if you got Jace there

[01:14:02] [SPEAKER_00]: having Bayla with him is easier to manage you and Ulf.

[01:14:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Or do you want to avoid the complication of bringing Damon's daughter?

[01:14:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, didn't think about that.

[01:14:16] [SPEAKER_00]: Didn't think about that. That's that's accurate.

[01:14:18] [SPEAKER_00]: That's that's right. That's right.

[01:14:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that's why.

[01:14:21] [SPEAKER_00]: So I really liked the fact that

[01:14:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Reneer's decision making in that scene,

[01:14:27] [SPEAKER_00]: like we can deconstruct it and go, oh, that was a really good flash leadership decision.

[01:14:30] [SPEAKER_00]: She knew exactly who to call on.

[01:14:33] [SPEAKER_00]: She had to let she didn't have to really think about it.

[01:14:34] [SPEAKER_00]: She looked, she's got, oh, Adam, you're the guy. Come on, let's go.

[01:14:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I really like that that that showed me the competent leader that she's becoming.

[01:14:42] [SPEAKER_00]: And and

[01:14:45] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah, I just enjoyed the efficiency of the scene, I guess, in that way, too.

[01:14:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Sure. Yeah.

[01:14:51] [SPEAKER_04]: I agree with you.

[01:14:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that dinner went well after she left.

[01:14:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[01:14:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Jason, I'm going to take my mind in my room, my little birds to my room.

[01:15:02] [SPEAKER_04]: You know that all was living it up with with that.

[01:15:05] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, right?

[01:15:06] [SPEAKER_04]: He's just like, give me all the wine, leave the flag in and just bring it.

[01:15:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Bring it all.

[01:15:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Bring the dessert, bring everything now.

[01:15:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Just bring the other courses now.

[01:15:14] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. Yeah.

[01:15:16] [SPEAKER_04]: All right. Alice gets to the point is the next scene,

[01:15:19] [SPEAKER_04]: which has about a million images, which some need some alt text

[01:15:23] [SPEAKER_04]: because you added them later.

[01:15:24] [SPEAKER_04]: But that's OK.

[01:15:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm here to help you.

[01:15:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Damon touches the wherewood tree and watches season eight of Game of Thrones.

[01:15:34] [SPEAKER_04]: He sees the White Walkers, Daenerys's eggs, Daenerys hatching her dragons

[01:15:38] [SPEAKER_04]: and a vision of Helena.

[01:15:42] [SPEAKER_04]: And more, you want to go through all of this stuff?

[01:15:45] [SPEAKER_00]: No, we don't need.

[01:15:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't think we need to go through all of this stuff.

[01:15:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Why not? We're on a podcast.

[01:15:52] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I know.

[01:15:53] [SPEAKER_04]: This is first image actually.

[01:15:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know. I don't recognize that other than him touching the wherewood tree.

[01:15:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. So that is let me scroll down to that same spot.

[01:16:05] [SPEAKER_00]: That who is that?

[01:16:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Is that that was somebody in a tree?

[01:16:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Are you talking about the random target?

[01:16:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah. Who is that?

[01:16:15] [SPEAKER_00]: That was some watcher in the tree and they had a birthmark on their cheek.

[01:16:21] [SPEAKER_00]: And then that's what the raven sort of popped out from.

[01:16:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Brendan, I'm trying to think Brendan Rivers.

[01:16:29] [SPEAKER_04]: All right, I'm not going to speculate because I'm not sure.

[01:16:31] [SPEAKER_04]: So somebody write in with this.

[01:16:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Fair enough. Fair enough.

[01:16:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I think I liked the callback to some of the Game of Thrones stuff.

[01:16:45] [SPEAKER_00]: But it was so sort of on the nose in some way.

[01:16:51] [SPEAKER_00]: And it really was that, hey, everybody, remember Game of Thrones?

[01:16:57] [SPEAKER_00]: And were they overplaying it for the people who are like a little bit peripheral

[01:17:01] [SPEAKER_00]: or could you have compressed that down and made it a little bit simpler?

[01:17:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Like so having watched all the shows,

[01:17:08] [SPEAKER_00]: like I know who the blue-eyed white walker people are.

[01:17:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Like I would have loved just a flash of blue eyes

[01:17:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and maybe a dagger and maybe a dragon's egg or something like that.

[01:17:19] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't need this whole synopsis.

[01:17:22] [SPEAKER_00]: I just felt it was it was a little too indulgent.

[01:17:25] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but Damon didn't see all of season eight yet.

[01:17:28] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the problem. That's the problem.

[01:17:32] [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I don't know.

[01:17:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I have mixed I really mixed emotions because when I was watching

[01:17:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and I was like, oh, cool, boom, boom, boom, oh, cool, cool.

[01:17:39] [SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm like, but really?

[01:17:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Did we did we really need that?

[01:17:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[01:17:43] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's one of those things where different people are going to have

[01:17:45] [SPEAKER_00]: very different reactions, depending on what their opinions are of

[01:17:49] [SPEAKER_00]: game of thrones.

[01:17:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I I'm not going to do it again.

[01:17:54] [SPEAKER_04]: But I'm just going to say I'm just going to say

[01:17:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I think some people are just show watchers only

[01:17:59] [SPEAKER_04]: and they will have a fun time being like, oh, look, Daenerys.

[01:18:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, it's connected. That's that's going to come from them, right?

[01:18:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, memberberry stuff.

[01:18:06] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, that's fine. It's fine.

[01:18:09] [SPEAKER_04]: I guess again, I just think it makes the world feel smaller.

[01:18:12] [SPEAKER_04]: But again, that's a preference thing and I don't want to litigate it much.

[01:18:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I do want to talk about two things.

[01:18:16] [SPEAKER_04]: You brought up the tree little spooky thing.

[01:18:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Clippity cloppily.

[01:18:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah, yep.

[01:18:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Yep. The antler.

[01:18:24] [SPEAKER_00]: What is it? The the subtitle said, Antlered human shape,

[01:18:28] [SPEAKER_00]: clip clopping grumbles.

[01:18:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. So that's the children of the forest, right?

[01:18:34] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know anything about them.

[01:18:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I know that they exist.

[01:18:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I know that there's some sort of stuff with them, but I don't know.

[01:18:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I would need a maesters lesson to know more.

[01:18:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, they or is it the Green Men?

[01:18:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Green Men, Game of Thrones.

[01:18:53] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, the Green Men.

[01:18:55] [SPEAKER_04]: OK, I think it's the Green Men, actually, because they are the ones

[01:18:58] [SPEAKER_04]: who are a sacred order and trusted with the guardianship

[01:19:01] [SPEAKER_04]: of the Isle of Faces in the Riverlands.

[01:19:03] [SPEAKER_04]: There you go.

[01:19:04] [SPEAKER_04]: They some nursery tales claim they are horned and have dark green skin.

[01:19:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Boom. There you go.

[01:19:10] [SPEAKER_04]: According to old man, Green Men ride Elks and sometimes have antlers.

[01:19:15] [SPEAKER_04]: So that looks like these. This is a Green Man.

[01:19:19] [SPEAKER_04]: Very exciting. We don't know much about them.

[01:19:22] [SPEAKER_04]: I would I would love to hear more.

[01:19:23] [SPEAKER_04]: Here's the thing.

[01:19:24] [SPEAKER_04]: I think that the lore of Westeros is so much deeper than the Targaryens.

[01:19:30] [SPEAKER_04]: And I wish that this network would explore that more.

[01:19:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Kind of like the Skywalker's.

[01:19:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, yeah.

[01:19:36] [SPEAKER_04]: And and I want to see ancient Starks and Lannisters.

[01:19:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And I wish that Age of Heroes

[01:19:45] [SPEAKER_04]: show didn't get canceled, because I think that would have been really cool.

[01:19:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. I don't know.

[01:19:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I know there's a couple things I want to go to.

[01:19:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I just I love Alice.

[01:19:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm really going to miss her.

[01:19:58] [SPEAKER_00]: She's just hilarious.

[01:19:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I love the fact that she just shows up on Daemon's bedside.

[01:20:03] [SPEAKER_04]: My only thing is Twilight vibes, right?

[01:20:06] [SPEAKER_04]: How long have you been watching me?

[01:20:08] [SPEAKER_04]: A couple months.

[01:20:10] [SPEAKER_00]: She just shows up and he's OK with it.

[01:20:14] [SPEAKER_00]: Why was she crying?

[01:20:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[01:20:18] [SPEAKER_00]: So I heard this on the ringer

[01:20:21] [SPEAKER_00]: on one of their their live watches with Joanna and Mallory and Chris Ryan.

[01:20:27] [SPEAKER_00]: And Chris Ryan thought he was she was doing a Ben Kenobi

[01:20:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and she felt the disturbance in the forest with Sharps Point.

[01:20:33] [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of like that.

[01:20:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I was like, OK, that's decent head cannon.

[01:20:36] [SPEAKER_04]: All right.

[01:20:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Sharp point. Sorry.

[01:20:38] [SPEAKER_00]: Not Sharps Point.

[01:20:38] [SPEAKER_04]: She's like, we got to we got to get you prepped to go serve your wife

[01:20:43] [SPEAKER_04]: because things are happening.

[01:20:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I like that even more.

[01:20:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I like that even more.

[01:20:47] [SPEAKER_00]: That's why she's there.

[01:20:50] [SPEAKER_04]: The ones that the ready just was that I said wants at the ready.

[01:20:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Just really. Yeah.

[01:20:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, because because Sharps Point, Sharps Point happened.

[01:20:59] [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, OK, we got to move this thing along now.

[01:21:01] [SPEAKER_00]: You got to you got to take your place.

[01:21:03] [SPEAKER_04]: You got somebody had to move this along.

[01:21:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Somebody please.

[01:21:06] [SPEAKER_04]: And so all right.

[01:21:08] [SPEAKER_04]: Now let's get to the big question.

[01:21:10] [SPEAKER_04]: What the heck was Helena doing there?

[01:21:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the old Wafo sticker on her.

[01:21:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Is that what you wanted to do?

[01:21:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, yeah, just just tape Wafo to her mouth

[01:21:20] [SPEAKER_04]: because she's just going to tell the whole freaking plot

[01:21:23] [SPEAKER_04]: before the end of the season.

[01:21:25] [SPEAKER_00]: But I did a real double take, too, because I was like, wait, what?

[01:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Huh? Huh?

[01:21:28] [SPEAKER_00]: And then it made a lot more sense on my my rewatch.

[01:21:31] [SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, she's totally plugged in.

[01:21:33] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah. So again, what is she doing?

[01:21:35] [SPEAKER_04]: She's plugged into where would TV?

[01:21:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm hmm. Yep.

[01:21:38] [SPEAKER_00]: She's got a portable satellite dish.

[01:21:40] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what's going on anymore

[01:21:43] [SPEAKER_04]: because to me, the Valyrian and the, you know,

[01:21:48] [SPEAKER_04]: then the gods of the North men,

[01:21:52] [SPEAKER_04]: the of the first men,

[01:21:54] [SPEAKER_04]: those have always seemed like completely different magic systems to me.

[01:21:58] [SPEAKER_04]: So I'm very confused as to how Helena ended up with this.

[01:22:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Then again, Helena doesn't only have Targaryen blood, right?

[01:22:04] [SPEAKER_04]: She is part Hightower.

[01:22:06] [SPEAKER_04]: OK, which are not North men, but they are of Westeros.

[01:22:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I don't know enough about the deeper religions

[01:22:13] [SPEAKER_00]: and magic systems to know, can you are you tapping into something

[01:22:17] [SPEAKER_00]: that can allow you to skip over and connect to other magic systems?

[01:22:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Can my Betamax and my V, you know,

[01:22:24] [SPEAKER_00]: VCR VHS tape record off of each other or something?

[01:22:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.

[01:22:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Fair enough. We just don't know.

[01:22:32] [SPEAKER_00]: A couple of things that popped up that caught my attention was that

[01:22:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Aegon disappears in the gods eye.

[01:22:37] [SPEAKER_00]: That's the lake at Heron Hall, isn't it?

[01:22:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes. So so there's a some prophecy thing.

[01:22:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I do not Google the gods eye, everyone.

[01:22:50] [SPEAKER_04]: OK. Do not Google the gods eye.

[01:22:53] [SPEAKER_04]: I swear, just don't do it.

[01:22:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Don't do it. Wait two years.

[01:22:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[01:22:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, let's let's read this scene

[01:23:01] [SPEAKER_04]: before we go into what she was saying to Amon.

[01:23:03] [SPEAKER_00]: OK, all right.

[01:23:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Helena, like I said, needs a spoiler warning.

[01:23:06] [SPEAKER_04]: She tries to he tries to bully.

[01:23:09] [SPEAKER_04]: Amon tries to bully Helena into riding Dreamfire.

[01:23:11] [SPEAKER_04]: She refuses and asks if he will burn her like he did Aegon.

[01:23:16] [SPEAKER_04]: She tells him he will be swallowed by the gods eye

[01:23:19] [SPEAKER_04]: or swallowed into the gods.

[01:23:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's her exact wording and he'll die.

[01:23:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Amon then threatens to kill her, but she tells him

[01:23:26] [SPEAKER_04]: it won't change anything.

[01:23:29] [SPEAKER_00]: She has no Fs to give.

[01:23:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, she's she's just spoiling the plot for everybody.

[01:23:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Or is she wrong?

[01:23:35] [SPEAKER_04]: Right? Is this going to happen or not?

[01:23:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Is it fate?

[01:23:38] [SPEAKER_04]: She very clearly said without riddle, you are going to die.

[01:23:41] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm hmm.

[01:23:42] [SPEAKER_04]: You're going to be dead.

[01:23:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Why did Aegon have a tear in his eye?

[01:23:48] [SPEAKER_00]: He was like crying at one.

[01:23:50] [SPEAKER_00]: Amond. Yeah.

[01:23:51] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm hmm.

[01:23:51] [SPEAKER_04]: You said Aegon. That's why I was confused.

[01:23:53] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, sorry, sorry, sorry.

[01:23:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Amond. Yeah.

[01:23:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Amond has a tear in his eye.

[01:23:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe because he knows she's right, maybe he's been listening to her.

[01:24:02] [SPEAKER_04]: Maybe I mean, she did correctly predict he was going to get the dragon.

[01:24:06] [SPEAKER_04]: OK, that he'd have to give up an eye for it.

[01:24:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Right. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Good point.

[01:24:11] [SPEAKER_04]: So maybe he's probably one of the one of the few people

[01:24:13] [SPEAKER_04]: who's actually paying attention to her unlimited amounts of crazy.

[01:24:17] [SPEAKER_00]: She also says something about a wooden throne, Aegon on a wooden throne.

[01:24:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know what that means to be honest with you.

[01:24:24] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know where they're going with that.

[01:24:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, maybe that's because he's he's traveling in that cart now.

[01:24:30] [SPEAKER_04]: Good point. That could be could be.

[01:24:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Because at this moment, he's doing that, right?

[01:24:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Mm hmm.

[01:24:36] [SPEAKER_00]: And will he be on a wooden throne in

[01:24:40] [SPEAKER_00]: where are they going? Bravo's going as as so.

[01:24:42] [SPEAKER_04]: So they just said as so.

[01:24:43] [SPEAKER_04]: So they didn't really give.

[01:24:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, they did say the iron bake of Bravo's,

[01:24:46] [SPEAKER_04]: but that doesn't mean that they have to go.

[01:24:48] [SPEAKER_00]: They're going there.

[01:24:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I did like the way that Lara said, he's like, well,

[01:24:51] [SPEAKER_00]: we can live well, we'll be OK.

[01:24:54] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, you're not the it's not going to be like you're the king, dude.

[01:24:57] [SPEAKER_04]: So I would watch us about this.

[01:25:00] [SPEAKER_04]: Coming knock on our door.

[01:25:02] [SPEAKER_00]: We've been waiting for you.

[01:25:04] [SPEAKER_00]: All right.

[01:25:06] [SPEAKER_04]: So yeah, I mean, the God's eye, she mentions it.

[01:25:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Just do not Google it.

[01:25:12] [SPEAKER_04]: You can look at a map.

[01:25:13] [SPEAKER_04]: It is a big lake.

[01:25:14] [SPEAKER_04]: I think I believe it's the largest lake in West Rose.

[01:25:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Somebody could write in correct me if they want.

[01:25:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I believe it's the largest lake in West Rose.

[01:25:20] [SPEAKER_04]: OK. And it is just below Harren Hall.

[01:25:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Right, right.

[01:25:25] [SPEAKER_04]: Mm hmm.

[01:25:26] [SPEAKER_04]: And I believe later we actually see a view of it.

[01:25:29] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I miss that.

[01:25:30] [SPEAKER_04]: I will point it out.

[01:25:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I will point it out because I took a.

[01:25:32] [SPEAKER_04]: Well, actually, it's the next scene.

[01:25:34] [SPEAKER_04]: OK, it's what I call Renea checks on Pookie.

[01:25:36] [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, there you go.

[01:25:37] [SPEAKER_00]: It is right there, isn't it?

[01:25:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I believe that's the God's eye that we're looking at.

[01:25:40] [SPEAKER_00]: That's nice.

[01:25:41] [SPEAKER_00]: See, there's a nice little connective detail, right?

[01:25:43] [SPEAKER_00]: She mentions it in the in the previous scene.

[01:25:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And then we see Renea flying over it.

[01:25:47] [SPEAKER_04]: But mm hmm.

[01:25:49] [SPEAKER_04]: And so Renea brings Adam to fly on Syrox and see smoke to Harren Hall.

[01:25:54] [SPEAKER_04]: There, Renea challenges Damon to declare his loyalty.

[01:25:58] [SPEAKER_04]: He kneels along with his followers, Alfred Broomneals,

[01:26:02] [SPEAKER_04]: but sulks into the crowd afterward.

[01:26:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I like the fact that that Renea

[01:26:09] [SPEAKER_00]: while I mentioned this before that she brought a wingman

[01:26:13] [SPEAKER_00]: while she's out on this mission.

[01:26:14] [SPEAKER_00]: That was smart.

[01:26:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.

[01:26:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I just appreciate that.

[01:26:18] [SPEAKER_00]: And then my other thought is

[01:26:21] [SPEAKER_00]: hashtag dragons are cats are really cats

[01:26:23] [SPEAKER_00]: because what do they do to sleep all day?

[01:26:25] [SPEAKER_00]: And then another one comes around and they get all frisky.

[01:26:27] [SPEAKER_00]: You know, just what do dragons do?

[01:26:30] [SPEAKER_04]: They sleep all day.

[01:26:31] [SPEAKER_04]: I love coraxies basically being like, hey,

[01:26:34] [SPEAKER_04]: haven't seen you in a while.

[01:26:35] [SPEAKER_04]: What's up, y'all?

[01:26:36] [SPEAKER_04]: What are you two doing?

[01:26:39] [SPEAKER_00]: Were you a little shocked that none of these

[01:26:43] [SPEAKER_00]: river, these, you know, these.

[01:26:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Rivermen, these rivermen, these soldiers,

[01:26:48] [SPEAKER_00]: they'll just kind of stop and stare at her

[01:26:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and not drop the knee and or anything.

[01:26:53] [SPEAKER_04]: They're just like, I'm sure they were unclear on instructions.

[01:26:56] [SPEAKER_04]: Are we like, they didn't know if they were serving Damon or Renea.

[01:27:00] [SPEAKER_04]: And that's why she says, who do you serve?

[01:27:05] [SPEAKER_04]: She calls him out.

[01:27:06] [SPEAKER_00]: She's like, you got to make this clear right now.

[01:27:08] [SPEAKER_04]: And he comes up to her.

[01:27:10] [SPEAKER_04]: He he starts he starts trying to approach her softly

[01:27:13] [SPEAKER_04]: and she takes a step back and says,

[01:27:16] [SPEAKER_04]: who are you sworn to?

[01:27:19] [SPEAKER_04]: And I thought that was really smart.

[01:27:22] [SPEAKER_04]: It was it was made him come in

[01:27:25] [SPEAKER_04]: and do his whole Hyvalerian thing.

[01:27:27] [SPEAKER_04]: But I liked that.

[01:27:29] [SPEAKER_04]: So usually they speak in Hyvalerian

[01:27:30] [SPEAKER_04]: when he's trying to be intimate with her here.

[01:27:32] [SPEAKER_04]: It actually felt like, all right,

[01:27:33] [SPEAKER_04]: let's talk about the family secret for a minute

[01:27:35] [SPEAKER_04]: and then we'll go back to Common's tongue.

[01:27:37] [SPEAKER_00]: Right.

[01:27:40] [SPEAKER_00]: And it was a good.

[01:27:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I thought it was well acted and well written this scene.

[01:27:43] [SPEAKER_00]: And it was well shot as well.

[01:27:45] [SPEAKER_00]: And I did get a little feels when he took it.

[01:27:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I won't lie.

[01:27:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I did.

[01:27:49] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, great scene.

[01:27:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I didn't know good about that.

[01:27:51] [SPEAKER_04]: Overall, great scene.

[01:27:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I see as much as I didn't really like the flash forward scene,

[01:27:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I think I like the result of it.

[01:27:59] [SPEAKER_04]: Is that Damon and Damon is kind of forced to be loyal here.

[01:28:04] [SPEAKER_00]: They it was a real slow glide slope

[01:28:07] [SPEAKER_00]: for him to get to this point.

[01:28:09] [SPEAKER_00]: He had to get to this point.

[01:28:11] [SPEAKER_00]: He had to unload a bunch of,

[01:28:14] [SPEAKER_00]: he had to go through a bunch of therapy

[01:28:16] [SPEAKER_00]: to be able to actually get to the point

[01:28:18] [SPEAKER_00]: where he could hear the message of the song of Ice and Fire

[01:28:22] [SPEAKER_00]: and understand his position in it.

[01:28:24] [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm fine with that arc of that story.

[01:28:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's great.

[01:28:30] [SPEAKER_00]: And then it was just like this questionable

[01:28:31] [SPEAKER_00]: like why is this so slow and taking so long?

[01:28:35] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a very, very, very, very slow glide bath.

[01:28:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Give me two max three episodes.

[01:28:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Not eight.

[01:28:42] [SPEAKER_00]: Right, yeah.

[01:28:43] [SPEAKER_00]: It really was almost the entire season.

[01:28:46] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[01:28:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I think like episode two he flies off and then that's that.

[01:28:49] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.

[01:28:51] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it's interesting how dragons are keyed

[01:28:54] [SPEAKER_00]: to their riders as well.

[01:28:56] [SPEAKER_00]: Like how did Syrax know to come up and perch up there?

[01:28:59] [SPEAKER_00]: Was he feeling her angst in some way?

[01:29:02] [SPEAKER_00]: Like how are they?

[01:29:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I just,

[01:29:04] [SPEAKER_04]: It's like auto start on your car.

[01:29:07] [SPEAKER_00]: It's like, wait, auto.

[01:29:09] [SPEAKER_00]: I had to think about it over a second.

[01:29:11] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or when I just walk up and I can open the door

[01:29:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't have to press a button or anything like that.

[01:29:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Oh, fancy pants, bitch McGee over here.

[01:29:18] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, check me out.

[01:29:20] [SPEAKER_00]: Riding style.

[01:29:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Simon's reaction was priceless.

[01:29:24] [SPEAKER_00]: That open mouth, he was like, whoa.

[01:29:28] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.

[01:29:29] [SPEAKER_04]: He's like, I don't know what's gonna happen here

[01:29:31] [SPEAKER_04]: but I caused it either way.

[01:29:33] [SPEAKER_00]: He's, I don't know.

[01:29:34] [SPEAKER_00]: He's not the MVP of the season

[01:29:37] [SPEAKER_00]: but he's been a delight and a joy.

[01:29:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I will miss him for these next couple of years.

[01:29:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, good guy, good guy.

[01:29:44] [SPEAKER_04]: Shall we go over to the Valyrians?

[01:29:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we shall.

[01:29:50] [SPEAKER_04]: Alan is ready to speak his mind when Coralus

[01:29:54] [SPEAKER_04]: criticizes Alan's leadership style

[01:29:55] [SPEAKER_04]: and tries to quote help him.

[01:29:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Alan speaks up about his childhood of poverty,

[01:30:00] [SPEAKER_04]: starvation and shame.

[01:30:02] [SPEAKER_00]: This line of scattering crumbs of your favor,

[01:30:07] [SPEAKER_00]: man that just burned so brightly.

[01:30:11] [SPEAKER_00]: That was like, wow.

[01:30:13] [SPEAKER_00]: And to see him after all this whole season

[01:30:16] [SPEAKER_00]: just sort of holding his composure

[01:30:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and then to see him tear off the lid

[01:30:21] [SPEAKER_00]: and just give Coralus what for.

[01:30:23] [SPEAKER_00]: It felt very cathartic.

[01:30:26] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, the guy really just was cold

[01:30:32] [SPEAKER_04]: and just into duty the whole season

[01:30:35] [SPEAKER_04]: and finally Coralus goes,

[01:30:37] [SPEAKER_04]: why don't you smile a little bit?

[01:30:40] [SPEAKER_04]: You know?

[01:30:41] [SPEAKER_04]: And he's like, oh, you want to see emotion from me?

[01:30:45] [SPEAKER_04]: Look at the second picture I took in the show guide.

[01:30:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Dude has a deeper frown than Florence Poo

[01:30:49] [SPEAKER_04]: who has like maybe the most famous frown of all time.

[01:30:53] [SPEAKER_00]: That is a stink face.

[01:30:54] [SPEAKER_00]: That is a real stink face.

[01:30:58] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but he's not wrong, right?

[01:31:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Like that is, that's really,

[01:31:03] [SPEAKER_00]: it's a really great illumination of the family

[01:31:07] [SPEAKER_00]: of this thing like, oh, I'm a magnanimous daddy.

[01:31:10] [SPEAKER_00]: Can't you see I'm just trying to help you

[01:31:12] [SPEAKER_00]: and it really checks him and puts him in his place.

[01:31:16] [SPEAKER_00]: And I think when Coralus is looking back over his life

[01:31:20] [SPEAKER_00]: at all of this stuff, that's, you know,

[01:31:24] [SPEAKER_00]: his son, his daughter, his wife,

[01:31:28] [SPEAKER_00]: you know, all of this stuff,

[01:31:30] [SPEAKER_00]: it's a bit of a mess for Coralus.

[01:31:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Agreed, agreed.

[01:31:36] [SPEAKER_04]: And he still kind of doesn't fix it here.

[01:31:38] [SPEAKER_04]: You know, he had a chance but he doesn't fix it.

[01:31:40] [SPEAKER_04]: But then later we do see them wearing armor together.

[01:31:43] [SPEAKER_04]: They do go out together.

[01:31:45] [SPEAKER_04]: He didn't go like, all right, take him to the headsman.

[01:31:47] [SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, that's because Alan is a man of honor,

[01:31:50] [SPEAKER_00]: right? And he says as much because, you know,

[01:31:52] [SPEAKER_00]: no matter what my personal feelings are,

[01:31:53] [SPEAKER_00]: I am going to serve and do the job that I'm supposed to do.

[01:31:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Because I've done that my entire life.

[01:31:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I've taken care of my family.

[01:32:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I sold fish from dawn up, you know,

[01:32:03] [SPEAKER_00]: from sunup till dusk, whatever.

[01:32:06] [SPEAKER_00]: And that's who he is in his bones

[01:32:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and there's a fire behind that.

[01:32:12] [SPEAKER_00]: But he's built that armor,

[01:32:15] [SPEAKER_00]: that structure, those systems in his mind

[01:32:17] [SPEAKER_00]: to keep him, give him the ability to do that.

[01:32:22] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a really interesting character moment

[01:32:23] [SPEAKER_00]: because seeing Coralus walk by

[01:32:27] [SPEAKER_00]: when he was a hungry kid

[01:32:29] [SPEAKER_00]: built him into the man that he is now

[01:32:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and that man is going to...

[01:32:33] [SPEAKER_00]: That man was the man who fished him out of...

[01:32:35] [SPEAKER_00]: Coralus out of the water.

[01:32:37] [SPEAKER_04]: Right. All right.

[01:32:40] [SPEAKER_04]: Let's go to the second to last big scene

[01:32:44] [SPEAKER_04]: which is Missaria telling Reneera to burn them all.

[01:32:48] [SPEAKER_04]: Which quite honestly baffled me.

[01:32:50] [SPEAKER_04]: This was the point in the episode where I said

[01:32:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't think we're acting like our characters now.

[01:32:54] [SPEAKER_04]: This is just...

[01:32:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I did start to feel the hand of the writer here.

[01:32:58] [SPEAKER_00]: So the one thing I took away from this scene

[01:33:01] [SPEAKER_00]: which is a really...

[01:33:02] [SPEAKER_00]: It's a less...

[01:33:06] [SPEAKER_00]: Obscures not the right word.

[01:33:08] [SPEAKER_00]: It's something that it's a...

[01:33:10] [SPEAKER_00]: It's maybe not something that everybody would be familiar with

[01:33:12] [SPEAKER_00]: but this is very much something that

[01:33:15] [SPEAKER_00]: spoke to me of the Bhagavad Gita

[01:33:17] [SPEAKER_00]: which we talked about during the foundation show

[01:33:20] [SPEAKER_00]: because there are some of that stuff there

[01:33:21] [SPEAKER_00]: where basically...

[01:33:23] [SPEAKER_00]: Which is part of the Mahaparata

[01:33:24] [SPEAKER_00]: which is a big mythology

[01:33:27] [SPEAKER_00]: that comes out of the subcontinent of India.

[01:33:31] [SPEAKER_00]: And there's Prince

[01:33:33] [SPEAKER_00]: who's a member of a family

[01:33:34] [SPEAKER_00]: and his family is about to go to war with another family

[01:33:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and on the eve of battle

[01:33:40] [SPEAKER_00]: he's the guy who's got to blow the horn

[01:33:42] [SPEAKER_00]: to start the whole battle

[01:33:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and he has this crisis of confidence.

[01:33:46] [SPEAKER_00]: And so he has this long conversation

[01:33:48] [SPEAKER_00]: with an avatar of Vishnu

[01:33:51] [SPEAKER_00]: in the form of Krishna

[01:33:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and Krishna walks him through...

[01:33:57] [SPEAKER_00]: Basically you've gotten to this point

[01:33:59] [SPEAKER_00]: there's nothing more to do here

[01:34:01] [SPEAKER_00]: you have to follow through

[01:34:03] [SPEAKER_00]: and you have to...

[01:34:04] [SPEAKER_00]: You have to find the way

[01:34:07] [SPEAKER_00]: you have to understand that

[01:34:08] [SPEAKER_00]: you have to fulfill your duty

[01:34:12] [SPEAKER_00]: in this thing even though it's going to be

[01:34:14] [SPEAKER_00]: terrible and horrible

[01:34:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and this is where you are now

[01:34:18] [SPEAKER_00]: so make your choice

[01:34:21] [SPEAKER_00]: and get through it

[01:34:22] [SPEAKER_00]: and I think that's what...

[01:34:23] [SPEAKER_00]: To me that's what I took away from that

[01:34:25] [SPEAKER_00]: is Masariya saying

[01:34:28] [SPEAKER_00]: there's no way to avoid this

[01:34:29] [SPEAKER_04]: There is a way to avoid it

[01:34:31] [SPEAKER_04]: I totally disagree and I think Masariya would...

[01:34:34] [SPEAKER_04]: Would how?

[01:34:36] [SPEAKER_04]: You kill the armies that are on the road

[01:34:38] [SPEAKER_04]: and not within the city right now

[01:34:41] [SPEAKER_00]: So maybe I missed what Masariya actually said

[01:34:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't remember her actual words

[01:34:46] [SPEAKER_04]: So Reneara basically goes to her with doubts

[01:34:48] [SPEAKER_04]: like do I really have to attack Casterly Rock

[01:34:50] [SPEAKER_04]: and Old Town like that

[01:34:52] [SPEAKER_04]: It's like yeah you know

[01:34:53] [SPEAKER_04]: you got to make sure that you win

[01:34:55] [SPEAKER_04]: because those people are cruel

[01:34:57] [SPEAKER_04]: See I agree with you about the army

[01:35:00] [SPEAKER_04]: You have exposed armies right

[01:35:02] [SPEAKER_04]: fucking now

[01:35:03] [SPEAKER_04]: That's what I'm saying

[01:35:04] [SPEAKER_04]: This does not make sense to me

[01:35:06] [SPEAKER_04]: This idea that...

[01:35:08] [SPEAKER_04]: And I think this whole idea of Reneara

[01:35:10] [SPEAKER_04]: first of all being okay with killing

[01:35:12] [SPEAKER_04]: cities of innocents

[01:35:15] [SPEAKER_04]: and then Masariya

[01:35:16] [SPEAKER_04]: egging her on

[01:35:18] [SPEAKER_04]: completely goes against what we learned about these characters

[01:35:20] [SPEAKER_04]: over the last season or two

[01:35:21] [SPEAKER_00]: If she was advocating killing innocents

[01:35:24] [SPEAKER_00]: Yes I agree with you

[01:35:26] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I understood

[01:35:28] [SPEAKER_00]: Or if she was just saying well yeah

[01:35:30] [SPEAKER_00]: attack their armies and do what you got to do from a military standpoint

[01:35:33] [SPEAKER_00]: Then that's where I...

[01:35:34] [SPEAKER_00]: That's what I had taken away from it

[01:35:35] [SPEAKER_00]: and maybe I wasn't paying attention to her words

[01:35:38] [SPEAKER_00]: precisely

[01:35:38] [SPEAKER_04]: I guess they didn't go into two specifics

[01:35:41] [SPEAKER_04]: but I'm pretty sure we can safely know

[01:35:43] [SPEAKER_04]: that she is in on all of Reneara's plans at this point

[01:35:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Seriously

[01:35:47] [SPEAKER_00]: She's right there

[01:35:49] [SPEAKER_04]: So I don't think this is going to be a surprise

[01:35:51] [SPEAKER_04]: to her that she's trying to go for Casterly Rock

[01:35:54] [SPEAKER_04]: and Old Town

[01:35:57] [SPEAKER_04]: Anyway

[01:35:57] [SPEAKER_04]: I just don't understand the point of

[01:36:00] [SPEAKER_04]: like I could understand showing up

[01:36:02] [SPEAKER_04]: putting a castelon there

[01:36:04] [SPEAKER_04]: and having them roll until

[01:36:06] [SPEAKER_04]: the war is over

[01:36:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I could totally understand that but

[01:36:09] [SPEAKER_04]: why not just take out the armies

[01:36:11] [SPEAKER_04]: if one of them is completely unguarded by a dragon

[01:36:13] [SPEAKER_04]: the other one has a small dragon

[01:36:16] [SPEAKER_04]: What's stopping you

[01:36:17] [SPEAKER_01]: Right

[01:36:19] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know it's baffling

[01:36:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Again this is where I started to feel the hand of the writer

[01:36:24] [SPEAKER_04]: because I didn't feel like characters were acting the way

[01:36:27] [SPEAKER_04]: You know early this episode

[01:36:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Reneara is saying

[01:36:30] [SPEAKER_04]: well I hope this will be a deterrent

[01:36:32] [SPEAKER_04]: How do you go from I hope this will be a deterrent

[01:36:34] [SPEAKER_04]: to I'm going to burn cities

[01:36:35] [SPEAKER_04]: That's not a one step

[01:36:38] [SPEAKER_04]: that's several steps

[01:36:39] [SPEAKER_04]: The next step is

[01:36:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Go attack the army

[01:36:45] [SPEAKER_00]: It kind of smacks as a season 8

[01:36:46] [SPEAKER_00]: Thrones thing

[01:36:47] [SPEAKER_04]: It does and so this is where

[01:36:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I took a lot of issues with the episode

[01:36:52] [SPEAKER_00]: Gotcha

[01:36:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Speaking of people acting completely

[01:36:56] [SPEAKER_04]: out of character

[01:36:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Allison

[01:37:00] [SPEAKER_04]: arrives

[01:37:01] [SPEAKER_04]: at Dragonstone to plead for peace with Reneara

[01:37:04] [SPEAKER_04]: She discusses the envy

[01:37:06] [SPEAKER_04]: she felt for Reneara growing up

[01:37:07] [SPEAKER_04]: and how she felt she was placed

[01:37:10] [SPEAKER_04]: on paths not of her choosing

[01:37:12] [SPEAKER_04]: She tells Reneara

[01:37:13] [SPEAKER_04]: that when Aemond flies to Harrenhal

[01:37:15] [SPEAKER_04]: she will convince Helena to open the gates

[01:37:17] [SPEAKER_04]: and allow Reneara to enter as conqueror

[01:37:19] [SPEAKER_04]: After pressing

[01:37:21] [SPEAKER_04]: she agrees to forfeit Aegon's life

[01:37:25] [SPEAKER_04]: What

[01:37:29] [SPEAKER_04]: This entire war

[01:37:30] [SPEAKER_04]: if you're going to take Allison's story

[01:37:32] [SPEAKER_04]: because I think Allison is still taking Allison's story

[01:37:36] [SPEAKER_04]: This entire war was fought

[01:37:38] [SPEAKER_04]: because she thought that if she didn't

[01:37:41] [SPEAKER_04]: put her son on the throne

[01:37:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Reneara would have her children killed

[01:37:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Right

[01:37:46] [SPEAKER_04]: If you believe that

[01:37:47] [SPEAKER_04]: then this scene doesn't make any sense

[01:37:49] [SPEAKER_04]: and I do not accept it as anything

[01:37:51] [SPEAKER_04]: but the hand of the writer

[01:37:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know your thought on this

[01:37:54] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm mixed

[01:37:56] [SPEAKER_00]: There's so much that I like about it

[01:37:57] [SPEAKER_00]: There's some good lines in here

[01:37:59] [SPEAKER_00]: There's a great culmination

[01:38:03] [SPEAKER_00]: of these two characters

[01:38:05] [SPEAKER_00]: where the whole thing

[01:38:06] [SPEAKER_00]: has been swirling around these two

[01:38:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and there was supposed to be

[01:38:10] [SPEAKER_00]: there's supposed to be some catharsis here

[01:38:12] [SPEAKER_00]: but there was none for me in some way

[01:38:14] [SPEAKER_00]: and I just thought that the plan

[01:38:16] [SPEAKER_00]: was very flimsy

[01:38:18] [SPEAKER_00]: That sounds like a really bad plan

[01:38:19] [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to fall apart very quickly and very easily

[01:38:22] [SPEAKER_00]: The plan of opening King's Landing

[01:38:24] [SPEAKER_00]: and oh, he's going to go away

[01:38:26] [SPEAKER_00]: and then the guards will just put down their weapons

[01:38:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and ta-da!

[01:38:30] [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, this scene

[01:38:32] [SPEAKER_00]: delighted me and confused me at the same time

[01:38:35] [SPEAKER_00]: I loved seeing these two actors on screen together

[01:38:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I loved them wrestling with their past

[01:38:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I loved Allison

[01:38:41] [SPEAKER_00]: trying to dig in

[01:38:43] [SPEAKER_00]: and pull up

[01:38:44] [SPEAKER_00]: cough one up on herself

[01:38:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and get real

[01:38:48] [SPEAKER_00]: with Reneara

[01:38:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I loved Reneara, it was just like

[01:38:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and then when she does offer

[01:38:55] [SPEAKER_00]: her son, you know, Reneara feels it

[01:38:58] [SPEAKER_00]: she feels it both for her son

[01:38:59] [SPEAKER_00]: and for her

[01:39:01] [SPEAKER_00]: so there's all this great stuff and then yet

[01:39:03] [SPEAKER_00]: it just didn't work

[01:39:05] [SPEAKER_00]: work, so I don't know

[01:39:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and I just feel bad because

[01:39:10] [SPEAKER_00]: like, I don't feel like I'm getting

[01:39:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the more we talk about the episode

[01:39:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm losing steam

[01:39:15] [SPEAKER_00]: for the episode, you know what I mean?

[01:39:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I just think that these were

[01:39:21] [SPEAKER_04]: look, I'm just going to say it

[01:39:23] [SPEAKER_04]: this scene does not happen in the book and that's okay

[01:39:25] [SPEAKER_04]: that's not a deal breaker for me

[01:39:26] [SPEAKER_00]: there's plenty of that, right?

[01:39:27] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, because I mean, why would this be recorded?

[01:39:30] [SPEAKER_04]: A client-deafened meeting between the two

[01:39:32] [SPEAKER_04]: why would that be recorded by the maesters?

[01:39:35] [SPEAKER_04]: That's totally fine, I just

[01:39:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I do not buy, one I don't buy that

[01:39:38] [SPEAKER_04]: Allison would have willingly agreed to have

[01:39:41] [SPEAKER_04]: Aegon executed

[01:39:43] [SPEAKER_04]: Second, I don't buy that Reneara would insist on it

[01:39:47] [SPEAKER_04]: Especially if Aegon's that defeated

[01:39:49] [SPEAKER_00]: I did buy that though

[01:39:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I did, yeah, yeah

[01:39:52] [SPEAKER_00]: that she said like there's nothing

[01:39:54] [SPEAKER_00]: so this goes into the question of

[01:39:57] [SPEAKER_00]: choice

[01:39:57] [SPEAKER_00]: but it's not a choice of destiny of what the gods will

[01:40:01] [SPEAKER_00]: but what society demands

[01:40:03] [SPEAKER_00]: the society demands that

[01:40:05] [SPEAKER_00]: if I

[01:40:06] [SPEAKER_00]: to become the legitimate

[01:40:08] [SPEAKER_00]: if I'm going to regain some of my legitimacy

[01:40:11] [SPEAKER_00]: as the ruler of this

[01:40:13] [SPEAKER_00]: kingdom, I have to put down

[01:40:15] [SPEAKER_00]: any usurpers

[01:40:16] [SPEAKER_00]: whoever they may be

[01:40:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and they need to die

[01:40:20] [SPEAKER_00]: people need to see the evidence of their death

[01:40:24] [SPEAKER_00]: that's the way the mechanics

[01:40:26] [SPEAKER_00]: that's the way the arithmetic of this world works

[01:40:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and so I got

[01:40:30] [SPEAKER_00]: that Reneara got that

[01:40:32] [SPEAKER_00]: how they worked that out though

[01:40:34] [SPEAKER_00]: how they worked it out in that

[01:40:37] [SPEAKER_00]: specific dialogue, yeah

[01:40:38] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know that I was

[01:40:40] [SPEAKER_00]: moved by it

[01:40:41] [SPEAKER_04]: You've convinced me that this is plausible

[01:40:43] [SPEAKER_04]: I will say that, you've convinced me that this is plausible for Reneara's point

[01:40:47] [SPEAKER_00]: right, oh I didn't mean to

[01:40:49] [SPEAKER_04]: well you did

[01:40:51] [SPEAKER_04]: good job

[01:40:51] [SPEAKER_00]: well done me

[01:40:54] [SPEAKER_04]: I still don't buy the Allison thing

[01:40:56] [SPEAKER_00]: she shows up so easily

[01:40:58] [SPEAKER_00]: sorry I interrupted

[01:40:59] [SPEAKER_04]: the protection of her children is so fundamental to her character

[01:41:03] [SPEAKER_04]: that I don't think that's plausible

[01:41:05] [SPEAKER_04]: and there's no amount of dialogue

[01:41:07] [SPEAKER_04]: that could have you

[01:41:10] [SPEAKER_04]: make me believe that she really will

[01:41:11] [SPEAKER_04]: forfeit Aegon

[01:41:12] [SPEAKER_04]: now you could read this as its a ploy

[01:41:14] [SPEAKER_04]: she will actually shuffle Aegon away

[01:41:17] [SPEAKER_04]: and perhaps that's the point

[01:41:19] [SPEAKER_04]: right, maybe that's the point

[01:41:21] [SPEAKER_04]: Aegon is shuffled away

[01:41:22] [SPEAKER_04]: and Reneara is not going to be able to tell the difference between

[01:41:25] [SPEAKER_04]: she shuffled him away or somebody else did

[01:41:27] [SPEAKER_00]: ooh I like that, that's a good angle

[01:41:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't thought about that

[01:41:30] [SPEAKER_04]: anyway so I think that's something

[01:41:32] [SPEAKER_04]: that they're leading to so let's

[01:41:34] [SPEAKER_04]: give them credit for that

[01:41:36] [SPEAKER_04]: again I don't think this

[01:41:39] [SPEAKER_04]: scene worked for me

[01:41:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and these two just show up, oh I'm just going to pop over to King's Landing

[01:41:43] [SPEAKER_00]: oh I'm just going to pop over to Triton Stone

[01:41:45] [SPEAKER_04]: right, nobody has

[01:41:47] [SPEAKER_04]: security and

[01:41:49] [SPEAKER_04]: ah man

[01:41:50] [SPEAKER_04]: it's just strange, I do think

[01:41:53] [SPEAKER_04]: the show has suffered by one thing

[01:41:55] [SPEAKER_04]: I think in season 1 they rightly

[01:41:58] [SPEAKER_04]: focused on the relationship between Allison

[01:42:01] [SPEAKER_04]: and Reneara

[01:42:02] [SPEAKER_04]: and I just think that

[01:42:05] [SPEAKER_04]: that story finished

[01:42:06] [SPEAKER_04]: towards the end of season 1

[01:42:08] [SPEAKER_04]: we had a few dangling threads with it

[01:42:10] [SPEAKER_04]: early season 2

[01:42:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and now the stories

[01:42:13] [SPEAKER_04]: the story's been told and we don't need them to interact anymore

[01:42:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I thought it was a really good

[01:42:21] [SPEAKER_04]: end to that story

[01:42:22] [SPEAKER_04]: bookend when Allison

[01:42:24] [SPEAKER_04]: says alright well maybe I was wrong

[01:42:27] [SPEAKER_04]: but it doesn't matter, there's been no mistake

[01:42:28] [SPEAKER_04]: this is where we're at

[01:42:30] [SPEAKER_00]: 100% agree

[01:42:31] [SPEAKER_04]: that is a great character motivation

[01:42:33] [SPEAKER_04]: is I'm too stuck and I don't want to die

[01:42:35] [SPEAKER_04]: and I don't want my kids to die so I'm doubling down

[01:42:38] [SPEAKER_04]: that's an awesome villain

[01:42:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and it was high stakes in the moment

[01:42:42] [SPEAKER_00]: because they were in Kings Landing

[01:42:44] [SPEAKER_00]: at the

[01:42:45] [SPEAKER_00]: the SEPT or whatever

[01:42:48] [SPEAKER_00]: so you felt the tension

[01:42:50] [SPEAKER_00]: of that and why did you have to mess with that

[01:42:53] [SPEAKER_04]: this undercut that completely

[01:42:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I agree

[01:42:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I think I agree

[01:42:57] [SPEAKER_04]: good, because I'm right

[01:42:59] [SPEAKER_04]: so we come to the montage

[01:43:02] [SPEAKER_04]: the trailer for season 3

[01:43:04] [SPEAKER_04]: as I call it

[01:43:06] [SPEAKER_00]: that's really what it is

[01:43:07] [SPEAKER_00]: it's the trailer for season 3

[01:43:08] [SPEAKER_04]: this is like a third of the outline here

[01:43:10] [SPEAKER_04]: so I'm going to speed run us through

[01:43:13] [SPEAKER_00]: there's nothing to say

[01:43:15] [SPEAKER_04]: the dragon seeds suit up

[01:43:17] [SPEAKER_04]: Allison returns home

[01:43:19] [SPEAKER_04]: then this one I do want to talk a little bit about

[01:43:22] [SPEAKER_04]: the high towers march will Daren

[01:43:23] [SPEAKER_04]: flies above

[01:43:24] [SPEAKER_04]: looks like Daren flying on to Sarion

[01:43:26] [SPEAKER_04]: what do you think, you like the look of them

[01:43:30] [SPEAKER_00]: I didn't get enough

[01:43:31] [SPEAKER_00]: to get a look

[01:43:32] [SPEAKER_00]: it was just sort of

[01:43:33] [SPEAKER_00]: it's too small, there wasn't enough room to see

[01:43:36] [SPEAKER_04]: well also to Sarion is supposed to be a very small

[01:43:38] [SPEAKER_04]: dragon younger than

[01:43:41] [SPEAKER_04]: what's the name of Jesus Dragon

[01:43:44] [SPEAKER_04]: here's what we're going to do, we're going to go to the show guide

[01:43:46] [SPEAKER_04]: hey

[01:43:47] [SPEAKER_04]: and we're going to go over to Vermax

[01:43:49] [SPEAKER_04]: that's the name of Jesus Dragon

[01:43:52] [SPEAKER_00]: from a framing standpoint

[01:43:54] [SPEAKER_00]: they shot it correctly to make the dragon

[01:43:56] [SPEAKER_00]: look small relative to the landscape in the army

[01:43:58] [SPEAKER_00]: so you know, yeah that's fine

[01:44:00] [SPEAKER_00]: they did that right

[01:44:02] [SPEAKER_04]: and I think we can safely say

[01:44:04] [SPEAKER_04]: they did not cast Daren yet

[01:44:06] [SPEAKER_00]: oh really, okay

[01:44:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I mean, no I don't know that

[01:44:10] [SPEAKER_04]: physically I'm just saying why would you not show him

[01:44:12] [SPEAKER_04]: if you already cast them

[01:44:13] [SPEAKER_00]: sure, sure, that's a good point

[01:44:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I just think they were just like

[01:44:18] [SPEAKER_04]: well let's tease them but we'll work on that next season

[01:44:21] [SPEAKER_00]: saved on casting budget

[01:44:22] [SPEAKER_00]: and scheduling headaches and stuff

[01:44:25] [SPEAKER_04]: alright, I don't know why this is moving

[01:44:28] [SPEAKER_04]: and changing shapes

[01:44:29] [SPEAKER_00]: sorry that was me, I was trying to look at a picture of the

[01:44:32] [SPEAKER_04]: oh sorry go ahead

[01:44:33] [SPEAKER_00]: no, no, no, I wanted to look at the

[01:44:36] [SPEAKER_00]: the graybeards

[01:44:38] [SPEAKER_04]: okay, yes, the graybeards are here

[01:44:40] [SPEAKER_04]: so the graybeards that the Starks

[01:44:42] [SPEAKER_04]: promised are

[01:44:44] [SPEAKER_04]: marching down the twins it looks like

[01:44:47] [SPEAKER_04]: and the Lannister army reaches

[01:44:48] [SPEAKER_04]: what I think is the Trident

[01:44:50] [SPEAKER_04]: I hope people will write in for this because

[01:44:52] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm notably bad at geography in these worlds

[01:44:54] [SPEAKER_04]: but I think that's the Trident

[01:44:56] [SPEAKER_04]: which you'll recall is where Robert killed

[01:44:58] [SPEAKER_04]: Rhaegar Targaryen

[01:45:00] [SPEAKER_04]: and essentially turned the tide of the war

[01:45:03] [SPEAKER_04]: against the Mat King

[01:45:04] [SPEAKER_00]: okay

[01:45:06] [SPEAKER_04]: big location

[01:45:08] [SPEAKER_04]: right and that is also near

[01:45:10] [SPEAKER_04]: Harrenhal, so we know where

[01:45:12] [SPEAKER_04]: we're going here

[01:45:15] [SPEAKER_04]: Daemon looks over his army

[01:45:17] [SPEAKER_04]: camped outside of Harrenhal

[01:45:18] [SPEAKER_04]: all the Rivermen

[01:45:19] [SPEAKER_04]: and then Tylin and Corliss both sail

[01:45:22] [SPEAKER_04]: towards the blockade I really love

[01:45:25] [SPEAKER_04]: how Lohar just kind of pops out

[01:45:29] [SPEAKER_04]: Tylin's just enjoying himself and Lohar

[01:45:31] [SPEAKER_04]: is like, and hello I'm here

[01:45:32] [SPEAKER_04]: hey buddy

[01:45:34] [SPEAKER_04]: they kind of mirror that scene

[01:45:36] [SPEAKER_04]: at the end of Game of Thrones Season 7

[01:45:39] [SPEAKER_04]: where the Dany

[01:45:40] [SPEAKER_04]: sailing across the

[01:45:42] [SPEAKER_04]: the narrow sea and they have the whole

[01:45:44] [SPEAKER_04]: fleet of ships sailing like that

[01:45:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I do

[01:45:48] [SPEAKER_04]: get a little bit of the nostalgia buttons from that

[01:45:50] [SPEAKER_00]: okay

[01:45:52] [SPEAKER_04]: and then Reina finds

[01:45:54] [SPEAKER_04]: Sheepstealer

[01:45:55] [SPEAKER_00]: right, he's looking pretty ragged

[01:45:57] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah, as a raggedy looking dragon

[01:45:59] [SPEAKER_04]: very cool

[01:46:00] [SPEAKER_04]: alright can we talk about though

[01:46:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Otto's imprisonment

[01:46:05] [SPEAKER_04]: what's going on there

[01:46:06] [SPEAKER_00]: no information that like such

[01:46:09] [SPEAKER_00]: scant information it's like

[01:46:11] [SPEAKER_00]: granted we got the mystery solved

[01:46:13] [SPEAKER_00]: why nobody's being able to find him

[01:46:15] [SPEAKER_00]: or where he is but

[01:46:17] [SPEAKER_00]: who, where, when, why, how

[01:46:19] [SPEAKER_00]: anything, yeah, it's a real

[01:46:23] [SPEAKER_00]: mystery which is a little

[01:46:25] [SPEAKER_00]: bit frustrating

[01:46:26] [SPEAKER_04]: do you think, here's a theory that I've heard

[01:46:29] [SPEAKER_04]: that I like, you think when

[01:46:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Laris was sent to go find him by Aemond

[01:46:34] [SPEAKER_04]: he actually

[01:46:35] [SPEAKER_04]: turned him over to the Beesbury clan

[01:46:37] [SPEAKER_00]: mmm

[01:46:38] [SPEAKER_04]: because he's like well fuck you if I can't be him

[01:46:41] [SPEAKER_04]: neither can you

[01:46:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I like that, that was a good theory

[01:46:44] [SPEAKER_04]: I think Laris was involved

[01:46:45] [SPEAKER_04]: that's my theory right now

[01:46:47] [SPEAKER_00]: that works, I can buy that

[01:46:49] [SPEAKER_04]: and then Alice again looks

[01:46:51] [SPEAKER_04]: worried, it's really well

[01:46:53] [SPEAKER_04]: we're out there, and then finally

[01:46:55] [SPEAKER_04]: we see right before

[01:46:57] [SPEAKER_04]: the last couple shots

[01:46:59] [SPEAKER_04]: which I want to talk about in a little bit more detail

[01:47:01] [SPEAKER_04]: we see Laris and

[01:47:03] [SPEAKER_04]: Aegon who

[01:47:05] [SPEAKER_04]: looks miserable in a

[01:47:07] [SPEAKER_04]: cart being taken away

[01:47:12] [SPEAKER_04]: yep so

[01:47:13] [SPEAKER_04]: this closing montage, they have these two

[01:47:15] [SPEAKER_04]: beautiful shots that really mirror the two

[01:47:18] [SPEAKER_04]: you know, Allison and Roneira

[01:47:20] [SPEAKER_04]: I really love these shots because

[01:47:23] [SPEAKER_04]: to me, these

[01:47:25] [SPEAKER_04]: frame how, what the characters want

[01:47:27] [SPEAKER_04]: right? Roneira wants to be

[01:47:29] [SPEAKER_04]: part of the histories, she wants a scroll

[01:47:31] [SPEAKER_04]: to be in that slot written about her

[01:47:33] [SPEAKER_04]: interesting and Allison wants to be free

[01:47:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I really think that that showcases

[01:47:39] [SPEAKER_04]: the character as well and I think there were really smart

[01:47:41] [SPEAKER_04]: shots

[01:47:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I agree, yeah, the Allison

[01:47:45] [SPEAKER_00]: one definitely gives that sense

[01:47:46] [SPEAKER_00]: and I would say not only

[01:47:49] [SPEAKER_00]: the histories but she's also constrained

[01:47:51] [SPEAKER_00]: by

[01:47:53] [SPEAKER_00]: society and the histories

[01:47:55] [SPEAKER_00]: she's constrained by the song

[01:47:57] [SPEAKER_00]: of ice and fire, she's constrained by

[01:47:59] [SPEAKER_00]: the

[01:48:01] [SPEAKER_00]: rules of society

[01:48:04] [SPEAKER_04]: I like it, I think that's right

[01:48:06] [SPEAKER_04]: that's right

[01:48:08] [SPEAKER_04]: well did we complain enough about the episode?

[01:48:11] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm done

[01:48:13] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sorry that I dragged you down

[01:48:15] [SPEAKER_04]: with me, I feel like I was a bad influence

[01:48:17] [SPEAKER_04]: on you

[01:48:18] [SPEAKER_00]: you were a bad influence but you weren't selling me

[01:48:21] [SPEAKER_00]: on something that wasn't there below the surface

[01:48:24] [SPEAKER_04]: I really tried to be fair

[01:48:26] [SPEAKER_04]: really really tried to be fair

[01:48:28] [SPEAKER_04]: to this show

[01:48:28] [SPEAKER_04]: but then at the same time I was thinking to myself

[01:48:31] [SPEAKER_04]: but this is HBO

[01:48:33] [SPEAKER_04]: and this is the biggest franchise

[01:48:35] [SPEAKER_04]: they have

[01:48:36] [SPEAKER_04]: if they're not putting the money into it

[01:48:39] [SPEAKER_04]: if they're not putting the time into it

[01:48:40] [SPEAKER_04]: if they're not putting the resources into it

[01:48:42] [SPEAKER_04]: then they're doing something wrong on that song

[01:48:46] [SPEAKER_04]: I agree

[01:48:47] [SPEAKER_04]: I agree

[01:48:48] [SPEAKER_04]: that said, I am very excited for season 3

[01:48:51] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's going to start off with bangers

[01:48:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I just saw something popped up in my email

[01:48:55] [SPEAKER_00]: House of the Dragon to end with season 4

[01:48:57] [SPEAKER_00]: season 3 to begin production early

[01:48:59] [SPEAKER_00]: 2025

[01:49:03] [SPEAKER_00]: that's in the HBO

[01:49:05] [SPEAKER_00]: Reddit

[01:49:05] [SPEAKER_04]: so beginning production next year

[01:49:08] [SPEAKER_04]: so again

[01:49:08] [SPEAKER_04]: we're looking at 2026 minimum

[01:49:11] [SPEAKER_00]: production is probably shooting

[01:49:13] [SPEAKER_00]: they're probably in pre-production writing right now

[01:49:16] [SPEAKER_04]: right

[01:49:19] [SPEAKER_00]: well, let us know

[01:49:21] [SPEAKER_00]: if how you're feeling

[01:49:23] [SPEAKER_00]: we'll take it all

[01:49:24] [SPEAKER_00]: we'll have a little therapy session

[01:49:26] [SPEAKER_00]: we'll work through our issues

[01:49:29] [SPEAKER_00]: we'll work through our feelings

[01:49:31] [SPEAKER_00]: hopefully we'll pull up some lore bits

[01:49:33] [SPEAKER_00]: some of the maesters will write in

[01:49:34] [SPEAKER_00]: and correct us on some of our knowledge

[01:49:36] [SPEAKER_00]: H-O-T-D

[01:49:38] [SPEAKER_00]: at thelorehounds.com

[01:49:40] [SPEAKER_00]: send us a voicemail

[01:49:42] [SPEAKER_00]: by either going to our website or recording

[01:49:44] [SPEAKER_00]: a voicemail on your phone

[01:49:45] [SPEAKER_00]: and email that to us

[01:49:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I believe Nancy's going to skim the discord a little bit

[01:49:50] [SPEAKER_00]: but hopefully we'll just stick to

[01:49:52] [SPEAKER_00]: the more substantive comments

[01:49:55] [SPEAKER_00]: and

[01:49:56] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah, we'll

[01:49:58] [SPEAKER_00]: hash it out on Thursday

[01:50:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and then you and Alicia are going to dive

[01:50:02] [SPEAKER_00]: deep into the lore on Friday

[01:50:04] [SPEAKER_00]: or sometime the weekend

[01:50:05] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah, I think we're going to record it Friday

[01:50:07] [SPEAKER_04]: I just want to say I hope people heard the

[01:50:10] [SPEAKER_04]: positives in between

[01:50:13] [SPEAKER_04]: because I really did

[01:50:14] [SPEAKER_04]: enjoy the season of television

[01:50:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't feel like it was a waste of time or anything

[01:50:18] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it was very good

[01:50:20] [SPEAKER_04]: it needed an episode or two more

[01:50:21] [SPEAKER_04]: but I'm certainly going to be watching season 3

[01:50:25] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm sure we're going to cover season 3

[01:50:27] [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to be covering 9-7 kingdoms

[01:50:28] [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to be covering season 3

[01:50:30] [SPEAKER_00]: day 1

[01:50:30] [SPEAKER_04]: and yeah

[01:50:32] [SPEAKER_04]: I think it'll be a lot of fun going forward

[01:50:35] [SPEAKER_04]: so if you're a little disappointed

[01:50:37] [SPEAKER_04]: by this finale, I think you have a lot to look forward to

[01:50:39] [SPEAKER_04]: if you are not afraid of book spoilers

[01:50:41] [SPEAKER_04]: join me and Alicia to talk about those

[01:50:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and join everybody on the discord

[01:50:45] [SPEAKER_00]: because the conversation is

[01:50:47] [SPEAKER_00]: rocking over there

[01:50:49] [SPEAKER_00]: people are digging into

[01:50:51] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of stuff so join us there

[01:50:52] [SPEAKER_00]: we have a great community

[01:50:53] [SPEAKER_00]: great mod team

[01:50:55] [SPEAKER_00]: great community conversation

[01:50:58] [SPEAKER_00]: where nerds

[01:50:59] [SPEAKER_00]: what did we say?

[01:51:01] [SPEAKER_00]: where the nerds find a home

[01:51:03] [SPEAKER_00]: I like it a lot

[01:51:05] [SPEAKER_04]: plenty of other stuff on the Lorhounds feed

[01:51:08] [SPEAKER_04]: I believe Deadpool and Wolverine

[01:51:10] [SPEAKER_04]: still needs to come out so that'll be out soon

[01:51:13] [SPEAKER_04]: and

[01:51:15] [SPEAKER_04]: I know

[01:51:16] [SPEAKER_04]: Aaron is doing a boys wrap up this week

[01:51:18] [SPEAKER_04]: cool

[01:51:20] [SPEAKER_04]: well on radioactive ramblings

[01:51:22] [SPEAKER_04]: Wolshift dust

[01:51:23] [SPEAKER_04]: I believe has something new coming out this week

[01:51:26] [SPEAKER_04]: so check out that feed, sorry I didn't do the

[01:51:28] [SPEAKER_04]: weekly schedule yet

[01:51:29] [SPEAKER_04]: and Rings and Rituals is continuing

[01:51:32] [SPEAKER_04]: the season 1 rewatch

[01:51:34] [SPEAKER_04]: don't forget to tune into that

[01:51:36] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm reposting their episodes

[01:51:38] [SPEAKER_04]: so that people can reexperience them

[01:51:40] [SPEAKER_04]: as we get closer to Rings of Power

[01:51:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I just did a

[01:51:44] [SPEAKER_00]: for subscribers I just did a video

[01:51:46] [SPEAKER_00]: based breakdown

[01:51:48] [SPEAKER_00]: of the new Alien Romulus

[01:51:50] [SPEAKER_00]: trailer

[01:51:52] [SPEAKER_00]: and that's

[01:51:53] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of fun

[01:51:54] [SPEAKER_00]: so I kind of go through and break apart

[01:51:57] [SPEAKER_00]: each of the scenes

[01:51:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and point out a lot of Easter eggs

[01:52:00] [SPEAKER_00]: and fun stuff like that and then today

[01:52:02] [SPEAKER_00]: also we released

[01:52:03] [SPEAKER_00]: a crossover podcast with Aisha

[01:52:06] [SPEAKER_00]: from every single sci-fi film

[01:52:08] [SPEAKER_00]: ever and we're teaming up

[01:52:10] [SPEAKER_00]: the two podcasts are teaming up to

[01:52:13] [SPEAKER_00]: tackle some Alien coverage

[01:52:15] [SPEAKER_00]: where it's the 45th anniversary

[01:52:17] [SPEAKER_00]: of the 1979 Alien movie

[01:52:19] [SPEAKER_00]: as well as

[01:52:21] [SPEAKER_00]: the new movie, Rimiulus

[01:52:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and so

[01:52:24] [SPEAKER_00]: we're going to do a academic

[01:52:27] [SPEAKER_00]: conversation sort of in the style

[01:52:28] [SPEAKER_00]: of every single sci-fi film ever

[01:52:30] [SPEAKER_00]: that's what Aisha does

[01:52:31] [SPEAKER_00]: brings in a couple of academics

[01:52:33] [SPEAKER_00]: we talk about wider social impacts of things

[01:52:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and what's going on in society that inform the film

[01:52:38] [SPEAKER_00]: so we've got two great guests lined up for that

[01:52:40] [SPEAKER_00]: and I think that's going to drop on the 17th

[01:52:43] [SPEAKER_00]: of August

[01:52:44] [SPEAKER_00]: and we're also going to do

[01:52:47] [SPEAKER_00]: a conversation around

[01:52:48] [SPEAKER_00]: talking just about the movie Alien

[01:52:51] [SPEAKER_00]: from 1979 for

[01:52:52] [SPEAKER_00]: the 45th anniversary of that

[01:52:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and that's going to be Alicia

[01:52:56] [SPEAKER_00]: and Aisha and myself

[01:52:58] [SPEAKER_00]: and hopefully Ron

[01:53:00] [SPEAKER_00]: is going to be able to make it

[01:53:01] [SPEAKER_00]: we've got a schedule but life

[01:53:04] [SPEAKER_00]: sometimes gets away so we're pulling for

[01:53:06] [SPEAKER_00]: a four person conversation about the movie

[01:53:08] [SPEAKER_00]: and then about a week after

[01:53:10] [SPEAKER_00]: August 16th is when the movie comes out

[01:53:12] [SPEAKER_00]: about a week later we're going to have a

[01:53:13] [SPEAKER_00]: Lorehounds one-shot review of Alien Romulus

[01:53:16] [SPEAKER_00]: so

[01:53:17] [SPEAKER_04]: very cool

[01:53:18] [SPEAKER_04]: alright and I'm looking forward to it

[01:53:21] [SPEAKER_04]: I really loved your video Breaking Down the Trailer

[01:53:23] [SPEAKER_04]: maybe you want to see it more than I did before

[01:53:25] [SPEAKER_04]: just when I only watched the trailer

[01:53:27] [SPEAKER_00]: oh cool, well maybe we'll join us on the pod

[01:53:31] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to say that's doubtful

[01:53:32] [SPEAKER_04]: but I'm going to be enjoying it

[01:53:34] [SPEAKER_04]: from the sidelines because I'm tired

[01:53:36] [SPEAKER_04]: after Outlaw Summer

[01:53:39] [SPEAKER_00]: fair enough what are you calling fall

[01:53:40] [SPEAKER_00]: you had a really catchy thing

[01:53:42] [SPEAKER_04]: oh yeah it's Fellowship Fall

[01:53:43] [SPEAKER_00]: Fellowship Fall, I love it

[01:53:45] [SPEAKER_00]: alright should we get out of here

[01:53:47] [SPEAKER_04]: let's do it, let's just do our quick
