[00:00:50] [SPEAKER_07]: Welcome to the Lorehounds, I'm Alicia.
[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_03]: You don't have to sing.
[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I wasn't gonna do it.
[00:00:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I wasn't gonna do it.
[00:01:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Welcome, John.
[00:01:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Everybody's excited.
[00:01:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Somebody is very happy today.
[00:01:11] [SPEAKER_08]: Loving this, loving this.
[00:01:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Hi, everybody.
[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's get all the giggles out because man, what a first two episodes.
[00:01:21] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, absolutely.
[00:01:22] [SPEAKER_08]: Fun one.
[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_08]: So, I'm Alicia.
[00:01:25] [SPEAKER_08]: This is John.
[00:01:26] [SPEAKER_08]: Welcome to the MCUniverse and the first two episodes of Agatha All Along, the limited
[00:01:30] [SPEAKER_08]: series, the sequel to WandaVision are out on Disney Plus and we're covering both in
[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_08]: this episode.
[00:01:36] [SPEAKER_08]: Episode one, Seekest Thou the Road and episode two, Circle Sewn with Fate Unlock Thy Hidden
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_08]: Gate.
[00:01:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Go back and check out our Agatha All Along prep recap, a who's who if you haven't yet
[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_03]: for a reminder of where things stand in the MCU going into the series.
[00:01:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Plus an introduction to the new characters and their comic book backstories.
[00:01:58] [SPEAKER_08]: For this episode, we'll start with some quick spoiler free hot takes on the first two episodes
[00:02:02] [SPEAKER_08]: and then since we've got a lot of ground to cover this first week, we'll dive right into
[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_08]: the episodes themselves.
[00:02:08] [SPEAKER_08]: We'll give you a spoiler warning when we're about to do that.
[00:02:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But we're going to save the biggest potential spoilers for last.
[00:02:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Our thoughts about what may be happening with certain characters based on what we know from
[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_03]: the comics, but again, the MCU always does its own thing.
[00:02:23] [SPEAKER_03]: So our speculations may not spoil anything at all, but we'll warn you before we get into
[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_03]: that stuff anyway for anyone who wants to stay on the safe side.
[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_08]: We also want to hear and discuss your thoughts about the show, the comics, the characters
[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_08]: and everything else as we go.
[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_08]: Please send your feedback to mcu at the lorehounds.com.
[00:02:42] [SPEAKER_08]: You'll find that link in the show notes and voicemails are definitely encouraged as well.
[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:02:48] [SPEAKER_08]: So we have our first two episodes out.
[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_08]: We've got our show runner from WandaVision back, Jack Schaefer.
[00:02:54] [SPEAKER_08]: We've got the music team back.
[00:02:56] [SPEAKER_08]: We're definitely going to be talking about music today and most of the rest of the key
[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_08]: team is back as well.
[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_08]: So on a scale of one to just consider this episode 10 of WandaVision, how much does this
[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_08]: show feel like a continuation of WandaVision?
[00:03:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Very much feels like a seamless transition for me.
[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_03]: It was not just because the characters were the same, but just like the feel of this particular
[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_03]: scenes that really call back to the WandaVision series.
[00:03:29] [SPEAKER_03]: But it just felt tonally in that kind of whimsy, if that's the way I can put it, that WandaVision
[00:03:38] [SPEAKER_03]: had as well when it started.
[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_08]: And I think it's a good call that they did the first episode as a genre take again, like
[00:03:51] [SPEAKER_08]: WandaVision, because then that also bridged it over, bridged the gap between them in addition
[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_08]: to just literally dealing with the fallout of that show.
[00:04:00] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, definitely.
[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:04:02] [SPEAKER_03]: I think they hit all the right buttons.
[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_03]: They did everything that they were supposed to do in these first two eps and it's exciting.
[00:04:13] [SPEAKER_03]: It was fun.
[00:04:15] [SPEAKER_08]: It was exciting.
[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, we talked in our prep ep about how this is the middle show in a trilogy of shows
[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_08]: that's going to end with some sort of Vision Quest show.
[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_08]: But yeah, there are apparently wider ramifications for the MCU.
[00:04:29] [SPEAKER_08]: Are you feeling that already or you're like wait and see mode?
[00:04:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm in wait and see mode.
[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm definitely in wait and see mode.
[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Marvel has been really good about placing certain things and then having a lot of red
[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_03]: herrings for people to chase around, just trying to find out what's next.
[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_03]: So I really want to wait and see.
[00:04:52] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want to rush to judgment and say, aha, I think I know where they're going because
[00:04:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't yet.
[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay.
[00:04:57] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Fair enough.
[00:04:58] [SPEAKER_08]: And so let's just roll right into our spoiler free still, hot takes.
[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_08]: Jean, what did you think of this start to the season, these two episodes overall?
[00:05:08] [SPEAKER_03]: This was great.
[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: This was, I wrote one of my nieces, I said to her, this was fun and appropriately spooky
[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_03]: in spots.
[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:05:20] [SPEAKER_03]: It was just nice.
[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_03]: It just felt, I felt great watching both episodes.
[00:05:27] [SPEAKER_03]: We often talk about if we're taken out of a story for whatever particular reason, the
[00:05:33] [SPEAKER_03]: writing, the visuals, whatever it could be.
[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I was never taken out in any of these first two episodes.
[00:05:41] [SPEAKER_03]: My attention never waned.
[00:05:44] [SPEAKER_03]: So I was in it for the long haul.
[00:05:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I sat through it and just loved every moment of it actually.
[00:05:53] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, it was proper funny, especially the second episode I laughed out loud a lot at,
[00:06:00] [SPEAKER_08]: which I don't necessarily do that much for shows and yeah.
[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_08]: I I'm in love with all the characters, the chemistry, like any two characters that you
[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_08]: put together, they have amazing chemistry and I just want to see more of each of the
[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_08]: pairings.
[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_08]: Um, yeah, I, I did the group dynamic.
[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm very excited about, because obviously as we know, as we predicted, the first two
[00:06:24] [SPEAKER_08]: episodes were a lot about getting the group together.
[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_08]: So by the end of the first two episodes, not really a spoiler, we have the cast assembled
[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_08]: for the rest of the show.
[00:06:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Which I was grateful for.
[00:06:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I was very thankful that they didn't waste time getting the gang all together.
[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I was happy that it happened so quickly and the story moved along rather quickly when
[00:06:48] [SPEAKER_03]: they were doing that.
[00:06:49] [SPEAKER_03]: So I was very happy with that.
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:06:51] [SPEAKER_08]: And we got to, uh, yeah, we got a little time to get to know, you know, they're laying the
[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_08]: background for what's going to, I know that each episode, um, for a little bit is going
[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_08]: to focus on a different character and their trial.
[00:07:07] [SPEAKER_08]: So, um, we got to get the seeds laid or the seeds planted for that now where we find out
[00:07:15] [SPEAKER_08]: like, what is the thing each of them is seeking?
[00:07:17] [SPEAKER_08]: What's their current situation.
[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_08]: And now there's all the mystery of like, well, how did they get in this situation?
[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_08]: Like I especially have lots of questions about Jennifer Kale, but we'll get to that.
[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_08]: Um, but yeah, and I think, I think there's probably going to be an emotional ending.
[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_08]: Um, I think I'm going to have a lot of fun getting there and there was some proper scary
[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_08]: moments in the second episode.
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:07:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll get, we'll get to those as well.
[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to have to look at my reactions, my family's reaction to some of those moments.
[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Definitely.
[00:07:47] [SPEAKER_08]: Did you watch?
[00:07:49] [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, no.
[00:07:50] [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, the other, I know what you're going to talk about.
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_08]: Yes.
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[00:07:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_03]: We spoke about it.
[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:07:55] [SPEAKER_08]: Um, so what is your favorite between the first two episodes so far?
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Wow.
[00:07:58] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a tough question.
[00:08:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, yeah, I'm not gonna, I would say maybe the second one.
[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not sure.
[00:08:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not sure which one is my favorite because you know, I think both of them had really
[00:08:12] [SPEAKER_03]: strong points.
[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_03]: So, um, yeah, very different.
[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_03]: And maybe the second one stood out more because of some of the spooky elements involved.
[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, yeah.
[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_03]: So by a whisker, I'll say the second.
[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay.
[00:08:31] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, the first one I thought was amazingly done.
[00:08:33] [SPEAKER_08]: Love it.
[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_08]: Also, um, it is a, a like cop genre theme, which is definitely not my genre.
[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_08]: Although it leaned noir.
[00:08:43] [SPEAKER_08]: I love noir.
[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, the second one just made me laugh and we got to meet all the characters.
[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_08]: So that's going to be it for me.
[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_08]: Although there were some really great moments, especially with Aubrey Plaza in the first
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_08]: one.
[00:08:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Their chemistry was, was really good on screen.
[00:09:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, but the first episode made me laugh as well.
[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
[00:09:03] [SPEAKER_03]: So there were spots where maybe I shouldn't have laughed, but it was, it was funny to
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_03]: me.
[00:09:08] [SPEAKER_03]: So, but, um, yeah, yeah.
[00:09:11] [SPEAKER_03]: By a whisker, I'll say the second by a whisker.
[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_08]: So okay.
[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_08]: So you came into these episodes with a certain level of hype.
[00:09:18] [SPEAKER_08]: Has your hype gone up, down or stayed the same after watching the first two episodes?
[00:09:23] [SPEAKER_03]: No, it's gone up.
[00:09:24] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Like it's gone up.
[00:09:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm fully expecting this to be, um, Loki-ish.
[00:09:31] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay.
[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Yep.
[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_03]: And if it's anything less than that, based off these first two episodes, then I'll be
[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_03]: slightly disappointed.
[00:09:40] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:09:41] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, so from what we've heard from people who've gotten to see the first four, um, it
[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_08]: just gets better from here, at least for the next two.
[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_08]: So I have high hopes.
[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Fingers crossed.
[00:09:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Definitely.
[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay.
[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_08]: Well let's get into it.
[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_08]: So this is your official spoiler warning.
[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_08]: We are about to spoil the show.
[00:09:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Spoiler, spoiler, spoiler, la la la.
[00:10:01] [SPEAKER_08]: And here we go.
[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Seekest thou the road to all that's foul and fair?
[00:10:14] [SPEAKER_08]: So episode one is titled Seekest Thou the Road?
[00:10:18] [SPEAKER_08]: And it is from the song lyrics, obviously.
[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_08]: Um, the writer and director of this one is a showrunner herself, Jack Schaefer.
[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_08]: And so just a reminder again, what the Witches Road is, um, this is something, a concept
[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_08]: that comes from the Scarlet Witch Volume Two comics.
[00:10:36] [SPEAKER_08]: The ones that were released in 2015, it was 15 of them.
[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_08]: I really recommend them each done by a different artist.
[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_08]: Really cool.
[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_08]: Uh, and I have to say we don't see it until the second episode, but it looks just like
[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_08]: the comics, the road, don't you think?
[00:10:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, it did.
[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_03]: The way it was colored, um, everything, the visuals were really stunning actually.
[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:10:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Like a surreal dark fairy tale, which is perfect.
[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_08]: And we find out that, you know, there are some slightly different specific rules of the
[00:11:09] [SPEAKER_08]: Witches Road in the MCU.
[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_08]: It is a coven of witches with complimentary talents must open the gate to get there though
[00:11:16] [SPEAKER_08]: Agatha did it one solo and you have to sing a song to enter.
[00:11:20] [SPEAKER_08]: But of course we'll get to that in episode two.
[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_08]: This episode we start with, um, that, that humming we heard at the beginning where, um,
[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Agatha is, she is already thinking about the road, but she doesn't remember it cause she's
[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_08]: stuck in the hex.
[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_08]: And so she is, she's living out these different TV genres, including this episode, as we said,
[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_08]: is a crime drama.
[00:11:45] [SPEAKER_08]: And this is the version of the theme song they made for this, uh, sung by Matthew Mayfield.
[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_08]: So three years after the events of WandaVision, Agatha going by the name Agnes, the name she
[00:12:03] [SPEAKER_08]: gave herself when messing with Wanda's Westview hex is still stuck in the personal hex she
[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_08]: was left in by Wanda.
[00:12:10] [SPEAKER_08]: Her current delusion that she's living in a detective series and there's a Jane Doe who
[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_08]: turned up dead.
[00:12:15] [SPEAKER_08]: She follows the clues to the identity of the woman, Wanda Maximoff dead as far as everyone
[00:12:20] [SPEAKER_08]: knows since the events of Dr. Strange multiverse of madness.
[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_08]: Um, Sean, you a fan of the crime detective genre?
[00:12:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, definitely.
[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_03]: Give me more Luther.
[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_08]: Did you, did you watch Mare of Easttown or True Detective?
[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I watched True Detective.
[00:12:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I did not watch Mare of Easttown and I haven't watched the last season that came out of True
[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Detective.
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:12:45] [SPEAKER_08]: Someone was just pointing out today, I think it was Mark from Nevermind the Music that
[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_08]: the recording wouldn't would have overlapped, you know, when they were filming this and
[00:12:55] [SPEAKER_08]: filming the last season of True Detective.
[00:12:57] [SPEAKER_08]: But a lot of people have pointed out that, um, her acting in this episode was quite reminiscent
[00:13:04] [SPEAKER_08]: of Jodie Foster's acting in that season.
[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_08]: I haven't seen that one yet either.
[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Um, that's, that's really interesting.
[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_03]: That's really interesting.
[00:13:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But the thing that threw me off was the, the version that played of the song was very Sopranos
[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_03]: S. Yeah.
[00:13:21] [SPEAKER_03]: If you watch the Sopranos, that intro that, that threw me off a little bit because it
[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_03]: was just like, oh, we're going here with this.
[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_03]: But then it veered off into, you know, this other type of genre where it started when I
[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_03]: heard the song, I was immediately thinking crime, like a, you know, like a crime, like
[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_03]: a crime family type of situation because I associate it just, the vibe was very of
[00:13:46] [SPEAKER_03]: the way he sang the song was very Sopranos S.
[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[00:13:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_08]: That's fair.
[00:13:52] [SPEAKER_08]: I think someone, someone said that he sang, maybe he sang the True Detective theme song
[00:13:57] [SPEAKER_08]: or a theme song for another detective show.
[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm not, like I said, this isn't really my genre.
[00:14:02] [SPEAKER_08]: So someone let me know.
[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_08]: I did.
[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_08]: Um, I always wanted to watch Mare of Easttown as also because it's set near where I grew
[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_08]: up.
[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_08]: So I did go and like finally watch it.
[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_08]: And I'm glad I did because I definitely saw Easter eggs for that.
[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_08]: And they like the, they even put it on the screen.
[00:14:19] [SPEAKER_08]: The subtitle for this episode is Agnes of Westview as a play on Mare of Easttown.
[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, we had especially like Easter eggs for both of those.
[00:14:33] [SPEAKER_08]: I think that the biggest one for True Detective, since I can't really say much more about that
[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_08]: is, um, they in the credits as a title credits role, it says inspired by the Danish series
[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_08]: Wanda Vizdian, Vizdizen.
[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_08]: And this is apparently a reference to the fact that true crime people are saying that it's
[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_08]: inspired by a Danish series called in English, it's called The Killing.
[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_08]: In Danish it's called Forbids Delsen.
[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_08]: Forbids.
[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_08]: Forbids.
[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:15:06] [SPEAKER_08]: Forbids Delsen.
[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_08]: There you go.
[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_08]: Which means literally the crime.
[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, that's, I know a lot of people were saying on Twitter or in, on Discord that they
[00:15:16] [SPEAKER_08]: laughed out loud at that.
[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I didn't get any of that stuff.
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_03]: No.
[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I noticed the weird spelling.
[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_08]: I was like, that must be a thing.
[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that I noticed, but everything that inspired the weird spelling I didn't know about.
[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:15:30] [SPEAKER_08]: But yeah, it's, uh, I, there were definitely mayor of East town nods, like the fact that
[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_08]: she's always eating, which is something that, uh, Kate Winslet was doing in mayor of East
[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_08]: town.
[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_08]: The side of the body's turning up at the start of a, they say crick.
[00:15:44] [SPEAKER_08]: Um, it's, yeah, they did do the accents, but it seems like they were mixing the Philly
[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_08]: accent and maybe, I don't know what accent they use in.
[00:15:57] [SPEAKER_08]: Where is a true detective set?
[00:15:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Is it set in Baltimore or something?
[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know.
[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_08]: Anyway, but they did get.
[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_08]: No, in the South.
[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_08]: In the South.
[00:16:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Oh no, then it wouldn't be that.
[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, maybe.
[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_03]: It's probably another wire.
[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_08]: Could be that they were getting some wire references in there too.
[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_08]: That would make sense.
[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_08]: But yeah, they did definitely do one Philly word, which is like one thing I grew up outside
[00:16:19] [SPEAKER_08]: Philly as I said, and we do genuinely call water, wooder.
[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_08]: So we got the, we got this from the herb, the neighbor.
[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_01]: Jane Doe found it down here by the water.
[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_01]: Dispatch was tipped off by an anonymous call.
[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_08]: Somebody didn't want her out here alone.
[00:16:36] [SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I wonder if they use this, um, they use this genre because of the dead child trope,
[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_08]: you know, because we get this silent hint about, do you want to talk about that?
[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Can I, can I just say something real quick?
[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_03]: The whole detective thing had me on the, I was laughing.
[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Her accent, everything, her mannerisms, everything that was so forced.
[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I was just like, yeah, this is, this cannot be where we're at in the story.
[00:17:11] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_03]: So I was just watching it tongue in cheek and it was like, it was so hilarious to me
[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_03]: see her, you know, play that, that straight character, you know, that's down the line,
[00:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: hard ass, hard boiled cop.
[00:17:25] [SPEAKER_03]: When I know this show is not about a hard boiled cop, you know what I mean?
[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Watching it, I was just like giggling to myself all along.
[00:17:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Like this is, this is hilarious.
[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_03]: This is great.
[00:17:37] [SPEAKER_08]: It's giggling all along.
[00:17:40] [SPEAKER_08]: But yeah, we, we got that, um, you know, oh, I'm a detective who's sad because my child
[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_08]: passed away trope.
[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_08]: We get that glimpse of a certain bedroom that's covered in, uh, yeah, child things.
[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_08]: It looks like there's a little boy there and we see something, um, talking about a Nikki
[00:17:59] [SPEAKER_08]: or a Nicholas Scratch.
[00:18:02] [SPEAKER_08]: And that's something we're going to talk about more in the secret speculation section at
[00:18:07] [SPEAKER_08]: the end, but definitely remember the name Nicholas Scratch.
[00:18:11] [SPEAKER_08]: Did you also notice the Wizard of Oz?
[00:18:13] [SPEAKER_08]: Like I think there's going to be throughout the show, Wizard of Oz, the Wiz, Wicked references.
[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I got it, you know, in episode two, obviously.
[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_03]: But I didn't pick up those little things in the first episode.
[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, like the intro that they, where they talked about the Wanda Viz-Zedon, whatever
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_08]: it was.
[00:18:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, yeah.
[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_08]: They showed like the yellow tape and you're going down the yellow tape like it's the yellow
[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_08]: brick road.
[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
[00:18:41] [SPEAKER_03]: But it was the thing when I, when I watched it, I haven't rewatched the episode yet.
[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm just here really enjoying what they were doing, you know?
[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_03]: And not, and I'm glad that I don't know.
[00:19:00] [SPEAKER_04]: No, no, no.
[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_03]: It's not that not picking it apart because I'm always looking for comic book references.
[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:19:05] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm always searching for those things, but it's just like, I was so into the story
[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_03]: like from the beginning because again, it just started and I'm like, where's this going?
[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
[00:19:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Like why is she playing this cop?
[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_03]: What's going on with this, this whole, I wanted to know.
[00:19:26] [SPEAKER_03]: So I kind of paid more attention to what the story was doing rather than what was going
[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_03]: on influencing the story, if that makes sense.
[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_08]: No, yeah, no, that makes sense.
[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_08]: And I, you know, I'm looking for the comic book references, particularly in this corner
[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_08]: of the Marvel universe, but also one of the things I love about Jack Schafer, the showrunner
[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_08]: and this team is that they're cinephiles.
[00:19:52] [SPEAKER_08]: And so am I.
[00:19:54] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, I'm definitely looking for that.
[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_08]: And I went down a deep dive.
[00:19:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Like I even watched fricking Mare of Easttown for this show.
[00:20:02] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I'm glad that I've finally seen it.
[00:20:04] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay.
[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_03]: That's funny.
[00:20:08] [SPEAKER_03]: That's funny.
[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_08]: And I like that they also, they right away got the Wanda tease out of the way.
[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_08]: It's been addressed here.
[00:20:16] [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_01]: She is dead though.
[00:20:18] [SPEAKER_01]: Isn't she Herb?
[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, she's really most sincerely dead.
[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_09]: Never know.
[00:20:26] [SPEAKER_09]: They never know what's cool.
[00:20:28] [SPEAKER_03]: That was cool too.
[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_03]: But, you know, I'm glad that they, like you said, they dealt with it right away.
[00:20:34] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
[00:20:36] [SPEAKER_03]: There are no lingering questions to be asked about what this series is about.
[00:20:40] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, will she, won't she, even if she does at this point, it doesn't matter, right?
[00:20:46] [SPEAKER_03]: To the story.
[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's the most important thing.
[00:20:50] [SPEAKER_03]: This is their story.
[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_03]: This is Agatha's story.
[00:20:52] [SPEAKER_03]: This is the Coven story, independent of Wanda.
[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_03]: And they made that clear from the beginning.
[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:20:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:21:00] [SPEAKER_08]: So we see what is supposed to be Wanda's body.
[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_08]: We see the black fingertips because she's been using the dark hold obviously before
[00:21:08] [SPEAKER_08]: she died.
[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_08]: And then what did you think of that tease we get with Teen later when she meets Teen
[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_08]: and he seems to have black fingertips, but then he's like, oh, it's from fingerprinting
[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_08]: because she-
[00:21:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, it's not fingerprinting.
[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Come on.
[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_08]: You think he's been messing with the dark hold somehow?
[00:21:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely, somehow, yes.
[00:21:25] [SPEAKER_08]: Or some association with it?
[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, we can talk about it.
[00:21:29] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, we will talk about it later.
[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_08]: That's another tease for the comic speculation section.
[00:21:37] [SPEAKER_08]: We also get, yeah, it seems this first episode was definitely the one transitioning away from
[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_08]: Wanda and so we get Agatha re-emerging in the form of, she finds her brooch, which she
[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_08]: was wearing all through the first, through WandaVision and she got it from her mother
[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_08]: and it has on it the triple goddess, the maiden mother Crone, which is like, goes back to
[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_08]: Greek times with Hecate.
[00:22:03] [SPEAKER_08]: You can think about the fates, Macbeth's three witches.
[00:22:07] [SPEAKER_08]: These are all aspects of this triple goddess of witchery.
[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_08]: And what's interesting is they noted that it was made with cowrie shell, which is a type
[00:22:17] [SPEAKER_08]: of sea snail.
[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_08]: And it's something like, if you think about like Bahamas jewelry, it's often these shells
[00:22:23] [SPEAKER_08]: strung together, but this is, it's used in divination sometimes, but then often in West
[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Africa or yeah, or India or East Africa, you know, it's not really where you would associate
[00:22:39] [SPEAKER_08]: Agatha as coming from.
[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_08]: So I'm very curious where the story is behind that cowrie shell.
[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Well I think some North American peoples use cowrie shells as well.
[00:22:49] [SPEAKER_08]: Brought in, yeah.
[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_08]: Because it's not native to North America.
[00:22:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I think it is in certain parts.
[00:22:55] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll double check that.
[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[00:22:57] [SPEAKER_08]: I thought it was like warmer climates, it was native to.
[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think they have usage in North American cultures, native cultures.
[00:23:06] [SPEAKER_03]: So we'll double back to that.
[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, we'll double back to that.
[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_08]: All right, Editor Alicia from the future doubling back to that and we're kind of both right?
[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_08]: Although I'm going to give this one to Jean because, so a tribe that happens to be associated
[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_08]: with cowrie shells is the Ojibwa, which is the big brother tribe of my own Potawatomi
[00:23:30] [SPEAKER_08]: tribe and they were, you know, originally in Canada.
[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_08]: And just, I'm just going to quote Wikipedia directly here on this, but they say, this
[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_08]: is the entry for cowrie shells.
[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_08]: They say the Ojibwa Aboriginal people in North America use cowrie shells, which are called
[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_08]: sacred Mi'gis shells or white shells in Mdewinwin ceremonies.
[00:23:52] [SPEAKER_08]: And the White Shell Provincial Park in Manitoba, Canada is named after this type of shell.
[00:23:58] [SPEAKER_08]: There's some debate about how the Ojibwa traded for or found these shells so far inland and
[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_08]: so far north, very distant from the natural habitat.
[00:24:06] [SPEAKER_08]: Oral stories and birch bark scrolls seem to indicate that the shells were found in the
[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_08]: ground or washed up on the shores of lakes or rivers.
[00:24:14] [SPEAKER_08]: Finding the cowrie shells so far inland could indicate the previous use of them by an earlier
[00:24:19] [SPEAKER_08]: tribe or group in the area who may have obtained them through extensive trade networks in the
[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_08]: ancient past.
[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_08]: And to add in here that there's old Potawatomi stories from this part of the timeline, of
[00:24:32] [SPEAKER_08]: our own timeline, that there was a trade with the Scandinavians who came over before, you
[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_08]: know, pre-Christopher Columbus time.
[00:24:39] [SPEAKER_08]: So the Scandinavians also traded as far south as Africa and many other places.
[00:24:44] [SPEAKER_08]: So that could also be a way that they made it there.
[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, both right.
[00:24:49] [SPEAKER_08]: But I think Jean is more right because I should have known that.
[00:24:53] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay, back to the episode discussion.
[00:25:01] [SPEAKER_08]: So what do you think?
[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_08]: There's a lock of hair in it's a locket and there's a lock of hair inside.
[00:25:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Who do we think this hair belongs to?
[00:25:07] [SPEAKER_08]: Dark hair, I should note.
[00:25:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, for me, I thought her son immediately.
[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:25:15] [SPEAKER_08]: You know, I think at first I thought Rio, but then I'm like, no, it's her son, right?
[00:25:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I thought her son immediately.
[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't think Rio at all.
[00:25:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it was her son, but it could be Rio's as well.
[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:25:25] [SPEAKER_08]: And by her son, we mean that mysteriously empty room labeled Nicholas Scratch.
[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, yes, yes.
[00:25:33] [SPEAKER_08]: And then we also, so, um, as she's following this investigation, she, her biggest clue
[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_08]: is this like library, um, not a card.
[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_08]: What do you call it?
[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_08]: Like the insert where you write who checked out the book and, um, the book is called dialogue
[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_08]: and rhetoric known history of learning and debate by Andrew Ugo.
[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_08]: And she starts like taking the first letters of each and it's, it basically, it spells
[00:26:01] [SPEAKER_08]: dark holds like, Oh, I'll get it.
[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_08]: And Andrew Ugo, a lot of people online, I'm not great at anagrams.
[00:26:07] [SPEAKER_08]: I'd never think that way, but apparently Andrew Ugo is indeed an anagram for Wendigoor, AKA
[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_08]: the mountain where Wanda died, where the temple of the dark hold was.
[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, we're talking about the dark hold.
[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And we need to talk about it a little bit more because, because honestly, you know,
[00:26:25] [SPEAKER_03]: this is what this whole WandaVision multiverse of madness Agatha all along.
[00:26:33] [SPEAKER_03]: It all goes back to that book.
[00:26:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_03]: So it holds a very important place in the lore, a very important place in the stories
[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_03]: of these characters as portrayed on screen.
[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, this is quite an important book.
[00:26:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_08]: And it's, it's what we saw throughout WandaVision.
[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_08]: It's what we saw corrupting Wanda that it had happened too quickly in multiverse of
[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_08]: madness.
[00:26:59] [SPEAKER_08]: But the backstory is Wanda was corrupted by the dark hold.
[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_08]: It is a corrupting book tied to again, the demon C'Thun and there's no way we're not
[00:27:07] [SPEAKER_08]: going to hear the name C'Thun sometime soon.
[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_08]: Right?
[00:27:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm not saying we'll see it.
[00:27:13] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, we barely saw him in, in multiverse of madness.
[00:27:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it would be great if we did.
[00:27:18] [SPEAKER_03]: That'd be cool.
[00:27:19] [SPEAKER_08]: Bring in some Elba gods.
[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_08]: That'd be cool if it was a big demon at the end, you know, we can wait on Mephisto, but
[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_08]: maybe we'll see.
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_08]: We'll see.
[00:27:27] [SPEAKER_08]: We'll see.
[00:27:29] [SPEAKER_08]: So we find, yeah.
[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_08]: So the quote unquote librarian, cause this is while Agatha is still in her delusion.
[00:27:34] [SPEAKER_08]: It's just the neighbor says that the library book was stolen three years ago and we find
[00:27:40] [SPEAKER_08]: out that part of the library is now scorched.
[00:27:42] [SPEAKER_08]: So I kind of forgot about this after the first watch.
[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_08]: I went back and on my second watch was remember reminded that a man whispers through the stacks
[00:27:52] [SPEAKER_08]: at Agatha.
[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_08]: It's been burned.
[00:27:56] [SPEAKER_08]: And that man looked like a particular character from the comics to me.
[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you want to talk about it?
[00:28:04] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I think I have it at the end.
[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[00:28:12] [SPEAKER_03]: All right.
[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_08]: But it's a name that we've been saying a few times so far, but an older version then because
[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_03]: a much older version, a much older version.
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_08]: Not a little boy in the empty bedroom, but this is a full grown man, but certainly looks
[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_08]: like the comic book version of a certain Mr. Scratch.
[00:28:30] [SPEAKER_08]: And yeah, so we see on this insert who's had the dark hold.
[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_08]: So, so far we know Wanda took it from Agatha and there's the dates that are above that
[00:28:39] [SPEAKER_08]: are just like people's birthdays, like Elizabeth Olsen's and Stan Lee's and stuff.
[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_08]: Jack Kirby's birthdays.
[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_08]: But I'm wondering, yeah, now I really want to see the names filled in like the MCU.
[00:28:50] [SPEAKER_08]: What was the MCU chain of possession of the dark hold?
[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_03]: That's going to be, if we get that, that I'll, I'll stand up and clap on viewing because
[00:29:00] [SPEAKER_03]: that would be, that would be awesome if they actually connected dots in that way.
[00:29:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:29:06] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_08]: No, I mean, they teased it.
[00:29:08] [SPEAKER_08]: So I'm like, Oh, you better deliver now.
[00:29:10] [SPEAKER_08]: You, you can't tease and not follow through.
[00:29:13] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_08]: We'll see.
[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_08]: But I think, yeah, this, there was this teasing motif in this, like one of the things that
[00:29:21] [SPEAKER_08]: I loved musically was so, okay.
[00:29:24] [SPEAKER_08]: So we got back for this, the song composers, uh, Kristen Anderson Lopez and Robert Lopez.
[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_08]: And they are known for like frozen and stuff, but also they did the key songs for Wanda
[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_08]: vision.
[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_08]: Like they did the Agatha all along, but they also did the Wanda vision theme song, which
[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_08]: was always some version of Wanda vision.
[00:29:45] [SPEAKER_08]: And so every episode they would mix those four notes up in a new way to make a new genre
[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_08]: of it.
[00:29:53] [SPEAKER_08]: And in this episode, while Agatha is like struggling and trying to figure out the mystery of, you
[00:29:59] [SPEAKER_08]: know, basically trying to figure out that she's trapped.
[00:30:02] [SPEAKER_08]: We hear this motif come up a few times in the music.
[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_07]: Go home, Agnes.
[00:30:18] [SPEAKER_08]: So they just play the first three notes throughout the music, but they never resolved the quartet.
[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_08]: So you're left like, Ooh, yearning and like, where's that resolution?
[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_08]: Which I just think is brilliant the way they handle that.
[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_03]: No, really good stuff.
[00:30:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Really good stuff.
[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Like the, the showrunners, the, yeah.
[00:30:39] [SPEAKER_03]: They're hitting on what they need to hit, man.
[00:30:42] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, it's just, it's really, it's so enjoyable when you can tell that, that folks
[00:30:49] [SPEAKER_03]: have agency to do the story the way that they're doing it because they want to do it that way.
[00:30:57] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[00:30:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_03]: It didn't feel like, ah, we have to put this in because, you know, obligations to studio
[00:31:06] [SPEAKER_03]: fan service or whatever.
[00:31:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, no, no, none of that was present in this episode or the second one.
[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_08]: And I like the symbolism of the way they play with the music because we also get throughout
[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_08]: the episode versions of this ballad of the witch's road.
[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_08]: And so it's like Agatha is trying to break out of Wanda's music out of Wanda's theme
[00:31:28] [SPEAKER_08]: song and have her own theme song, you know, her own show.
[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_08]: And this, this is the episode where we see that evolution happen.
[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm glad that it didn't take the entire episode for it to happen.
[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[00:31:42] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, so we get faces new and old.
[00:31:44] [SPEAKER_08]: We get in addition to the neighbors from one from WandaVision who are reprising the roles
[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_08]: in Agatha's delusion, two new characters enter the picture.
[00:31:52] [SPEAKER_08]: One a teenage boy who breaks into her house.
[00:31:56] [SPEAKER_08]: We find out later to find a way to the witch's road and another, a woman, another witch.
[00:32:01] [SPEAKER_08]: We quickly learned named Rio Vidal, who seems to have a past with Agatha.
[00:32:06] [SPEAKER_08]: Both work separately to help Agatha break out of the hex so they can talk to the real
[00:32:11] [SPEAKER_08]: witch beneath or well by talk real means attack.
[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_08]: But though currently powerless, Agatha manages to hold her off and convinces her that it
[00:32:20] [SPEAKER_08]: will be more satisfying for Rio to kill her if she lets Agatha get her powers back first.
[00:32:26] [SPEAKER_08]: But Rio warns her that she's not the only one who wants to see Agatha dead.
[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_08]: The Salem seven will be showing up once dusk falls.
[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_08]: So I noticed in my second watch, I think teen was looking at the brooch when Agatha caught
[00:32:39] [SPEAKER_08]: him in her house.
[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_03]: What does that mean?
[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_08]: You want to talk about it?
[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_08]: I want to talk about it at the end.
[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[00:32:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Fair enough.
[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Fair enough.
[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, the end, I think it's going to be a lot of teen theories.
[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_08]: So that's why I want to protect people who want, I mean, cause we don't know, we're still
[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_08]: speculating.
[00:33:00] [SPEAKER_08]: We have some good hints like that at least help us shape our theories.
[00:33:06] [SPEAKER_08]: I think, yeah, I loved the sequence in the morgue of her stripping off like the layers
[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_08]: of the different costumes for WandaVision.
[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:33:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Just great, great, great callback.
[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Just really nice to see her shedding these layers upon layers of different personalities
[00:33:26] [SPEAKER_03]: that were placed upon her to get to her true self, which is really wonderful to watch and
[00:33:34] [SPEAKER_03]: think about what that symbolism means to so many people in our current society.
[00:33:40] [SPEAKER_03]: It's just really great, great stuff.
[00:33:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Great visual.
[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_08]: Speaking of visuals, we got our first bare female bum in the MCU.
[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, that's right.
[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_03]: And someone who didn't care one lick.
[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:33:56] [SPEAKER_08]: He tries to hand, Herb tries to hand-
[00:33:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Like the hell out of here.
[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know what his non-hex name is, but he tries to hand her like a coat and she's
[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_08]: like, nah.
[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Nah.
[00:34:04] [SPEAKER_03]: She throws it to the ground.
[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just walk away, man.
[00:34:08] [SPEAKER_03]: So that was really, really cool to see.
[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But I want to say, Rhea Vidal's entrance was totally badass.
[00:34:17] [SPEAKER_08]: Oh yeah.
[00:34:18] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, we're going to cut to that just a second.
[00:34:23] [SPEAKER_08]: But just on the nudity front, apparently that was Catherine Han's idea that she was supposed
[00:34:29] [SPEAKER_08]: to put on a bathrobe and she's like, no, Agatha would just go outside naked.
[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, first of all, so there's this whole idea of rebirth.
[00:34:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, definitely.
[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_08]: There's also, so you might think Adam and Eve, but there was also before there was Eve,
[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_08]: there was Lilith.
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_08]: Lilith.
[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_08]: And Lilith is often, well, Lilith is actually a character in Marvel, so she's not Lilith,
[00:34:50] [SPEAKER_08]: but Lilith is just in general outside of Marvel considered a sort of mother of witches and
[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_08]: or vampires.
[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_08]: She's often considered the mother of the darker side of female nature.
[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_08]: And yeah, I just love that Agatha's not uncomfortable, but everyone else is.
[00:35:09] [SPEAKER_08]: And of course, witches are always accused of dancing around naked, which is not untrue
[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_08]: depending on how witchcraft is practiced.
[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And she's also several hundred years old.
[00:35:22] [SPEAKER_03]: She's got her body hanging out.
[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_03]: She's over that.
[00:35:26] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what that's expressing.
[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_03]: This is someone who is totally comfortable with who she is in her own skin.
[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_03]: So she doesn't care.
[00:35:34] [SPEAKER_03]: And if you care, that's your problem.
[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_03]: That's your issue.
[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_03]: It's got nothing to do with me.
[00:35:41] [SPEAKER_03]: And she was fully owning who she is.
[00:35:46] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was awesome.
[00:35:49] [SPEAKER_08]: And we also find out that the neighbors have just been humoring her for the past three years,
[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_08]: that she was like-
[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_03]: That's nuts.
[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_08]: They're just like, sometimes you're a little weird.
[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_08]: Seems like you've been on a true detective kick lately, true crime kick lately.
[00:36:07] [SPEAKER_03]: That's some loving neighbors, man.
[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_03]: They must really love her because for me, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
[00:36:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not with any of that.
[00:36:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I see you, I'm going to walk in the opposite direction.
[00:36:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I will let you go inside before you even spot me.
[00:36:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Get out of here.
[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_03]: But that must be a really great neighborhood.
[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_03]: They went through some trauma together.
[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_03]: That's true.
[00:36:34] [SPEAKER_03]: And they said, we're going to band together, we're going to stick together, we're going
[00:36:37] [SPEAKER_03]: to lift each other up.
[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_03]: What a wonderful community.
[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to be part of that community.
[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_08]: Oh my gosh.
[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_08]: It's true.
[00:36:43] [SPEAKER_08]: Westview seems great.
[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_08]: There's apparently like a thousand people less there now or more than pre-WandaVision.
[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_08]: So not everyone stuck around, but those who did, you got to imagine they pulled together.
[00:36:53] [SPEAKER_08]: Even though they apparently don't realize that she was a big part of what was going
[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_08]: wrong.
[00:37:01] [SPEAKER_03]: They don't get it, but it's okay.
[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_03]: They love her still.
[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_08]: They blame Wanda and so she gets her neighbor to explain to her what's been going on the
[00:37:11] [SPEAKER_08]: past three years and then they have this exchange.
[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_09]: Three years?
[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_01]: We try not to say her name.
[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
[00:37:25] [SPEAKER_08]: I just love like, so the second time I went through and watched everything that was happening
[00:37:31] [SPEAKER_08]: in the first part of this episode, I just kept in mind like that when she's driving a car,
[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_08]: she's sitting at that desk where she has like tubes tied to a lamp as a steering wheel and
[00:37:41] [SPEAKER_08]: she's using little mini cereal boxes and pedals.
[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_08]: When she thinks she's taking pictures of the body, she's talking to her but the fence and
[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_08]: she's taking pictures of just like the bushes.
[00:37:55] [SPEAKER_08]: And then she thinks she's a rest of teen, but she's just tied them up and shoved him in
[00:38:01] [SPEAKER_08]: her closet.
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Just somebody who doesn't, you know, who's living in a different reality from everyone
[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_03]: else.
[00:38:10] [SPEAKER_03]: And that's, you know, so I mean there's just so many things you can say about that.
[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Just having someone who was tampered with your whole being, your mind, your body, your
[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_03]: soul, everything that you thought you knew isn't real, right?
[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_03]: It's been taken away from you and you had no agency about it.
[00:38:38] [SPEAKER_03]: And now you wake up and it's three years later, you wake up to your own self and you're like,
[00:38:44] [SPEAKER_03]: what the hell?
[00:38:46] [SPEAKER_03]: What did I do?
[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_03]: What am I doing?
[00:38:48] [SPEAKER_03]: And not only what did I do and what am I doing?
[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I can't conjure.
[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I have no power.
[00:38:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:38:57] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_03]: That's gotta be frightening.
[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[00:39:01] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, I've got to give you some points by the way, because the fact that we find out
[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_08]: for the last three years she's been living in this delusion by herself, but the neighbors
[00:39:10] [SPEAKER_08]: have just been living normally shows that you were maybe right about the fact that
[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_08]: Wanda didn't have to, you know, include everybody in her hex.
[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I think, yeah, I'm still gonna stick with that story.
[00:39:26] [SPEAKER_08]: Although I don't know if Vision and the kids could have physically separated for her if
[00:39:30] [SPEAKER_08]: she didn't have like a boundary spell up, but not everyone had to be like forced to
[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_08]: play characters.
[00:39:39] [SPEAKER_03]: To stay and play a character.
[00:39:40] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_08]: They could have been themselves.
[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_03]: And she took all of that away from everyone.
[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_08]: She did.
[00:39:47] [SPEAKER_08]: She did.
[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_08]: So no wonder they don't want to say her name.
[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_03]: She took all of that away from everyone and she took it away from Agatha for three extra
[00:39:56] [SPEAKER_03]: years.
[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:39:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, I mean, to be fair, you know, Agatha did try to steal all her magic and kidnap their
[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_08]: kids and fake or not, you know?
[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah.
[00:40:07] [SPEAKER_03]: We're not saying Agatha is a, you know, an angel.
[00:40:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_03]: But at the beginning of this story, at the beginning of her story, you know, looking
[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_03]: at from her perspective, you know, this has gotta be so maddening and so upsetting and
[00:40:27] [SPEAKER_03]: so frightening because she knows the things that she's done.
[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_03]: As soon as Rio comes through that door, you can see it on her face.
[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_03]: She's like, oh shit.
[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Like-
[00:40:39] [SPEAKER_03]: What am I going to do?
[00:40:42] [SPEAKER_03]: And how am I going to do it?
[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And she thinks really quickly on her feet to get out of that jam.
[00:40:48] [SPEAKER_03]: But you know, she has to be thinking about everybody she's ever wronged and the list
[00:40:55] [SPEAKER_03]: is probably really long.
[00:40:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:40:58] [SPEAKER_08]: So you wanted to talk about Aubrey Plaza's, Rio's entrance.
[00:41:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:41:04] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, blasting open the door.
[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_03]: She didn't knock.
[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_03]: She didn't ring the bells.
[00:41:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Just boom.
[00:41:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Bye bye front door.
[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_03]: That was badass, you know?
[00:41:11] [SPEAKER_03]: And immediately went on the attack.
[00:41:14] [SPEAKER_03]: And I think that's so refreshing to see.
[00:41:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Like no talk, no, you know, hey, how you doing?
[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm not going to give you a chance.
[00:41:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to try to take you out immediately.
[00:41:23] [SPEAKER_03]: And I love that.
[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_03]: I love that.
[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:41:26] [SPEAKER_08]: I know she's playing her most unhinged self since at least Legion.
[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_08]: Aubrey Plaza also played a really unhinged character in Legion.
[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_08]: But I love this quote.
[00:41:35] [SPEAKER_08]: You remember pain.
[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, it kind of tickles, doesn't it?
[00:41:37] [SPEAKER_08]: Like that was intense.
[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_08]: We have Agatha holding the blade of the knife.
[00:41:40] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:41:41] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_08]: Do you think though that Rio really wanted to hurt her?
[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_03]: No.
[00:41:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I think if she wanted to kill her, she would have killed her quite easily.
[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[00:41:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Quite easily.
[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[00:41:58] [SPEAKER_08]: And we also get this quote.
[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_09]: After all these centuries, Agatha Harkness will finally meet her end.
[00:42:07] [SPEAKER_09]: It really warms the heart.
[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_09]: You don't have a heart.
[00:42:10] [SPEAKER_09]: Yes, I do.
[00:42:12] [SPEAKER_09]: It's black and it beats for you.
[00:42:18] [SPEAKER_08]: And she licks her hand and heals it.
[00:42:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_03]: That's just so many questions, right?
[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_03]: So many questions to be answered in just that one exchange.
[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:42:30] [SPEAKER_08]: So we have, I, we don't know her backstory yet.
[00:42:34] [SPEAKER_08]: Seems to be something, a Spanish speaking place.
[00:42:38] [SPEAKER_08]: Her name means the river of life and she keeps saying to Agatha, Te veo, which means like
[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_08]: I see you.
[00:42:44] [SPEAKER_08]: And we find out they haven't seen each other since Agatha got the dark hold and hid behind
[00:42:48] [SPEAKER_08]: that dark magic.
[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_08]: And they have these interesting exchanges where she says, you can't kill me.
[00:42:54] [SPEAKER_08]: And then Agatha says, you can't kill me.
[00:42:57] [SPEAKER_08]: It's not allowed.
[00:42:58] [SPEAKER_08]: And then later Rio says, so take my power.
[00:43:02] [SPEAKER_08]: And Agatha is like, that's cute, but you know it would kill me.
[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_08]: So there's some past where they are bound from hurting each other somehow.
[00:43:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:43:12] [SPEAKER_03]: There are rules that govern the magic in the MCU.
[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[00:43:20] [SPEAKER_03]: There, we haven't seen the councils or the people who enforce magical order except for
[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_03]: in Doctor Strange, but that's just one small corner of the magical realm of the MCU.
[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_03]: So they have rules and laws and bylaws and all of these things that keep people from
[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_03]: just wreaking havoc on the world and the universe at large.
[00:43:50] [SPEAKER_03]: So this must be one of those sort of things where she says, it's not allowed.
[00:43:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Not allowed by who?
[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Not allowed by what?
[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_03]: By what, you know, where is it not allowed?
[00:44:05] [SPEAKER_03]: How is it not allowed?
[00:44:06] [SPEAKER_03]: These are questions that I have to see who exactly is writing these laws that says that
[00:44:13] [SPEAKER_03]: you can't kill her.
[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:44:17] [SPEAKER_08]: So one thing that I hope that it looks like they're doing that I hope they follow through
[00:44:23] [SPEAKER_08]: with versus the comics is in the comics, I have said before that I always end up reading
[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_08]: Doctor Strange comics by accident because if you follow any of the witchy women's stories,
[00:44:35] [SPEAKER_08]: they always go back to Doctor Strange and that's only more recently been starting to
[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_08]: change.
[00:44:40] [SPEAKER_08]: So I like this feeling we're getting here where, yeah, indeed, Doctor Strange has this
[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_08]: whole organized magic part of the universe, but these are basically like hedge witches
[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_08]: just out there doing their own thing, just trying to get through life.
[00:44:55] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:44:55] [SPEAKER_03]: And that makes sense.
[00:44:56] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean?
[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_03]: That makes sense.
[00:44:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Doctor Strange says he's the Sorcerer Supreme.
[00:45:03] [SPEAKER_03]: What makes him that?
[00:45:06] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:45:06] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, yeah.
[00:45:08] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what makes him that?
[00:45:10] [SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm.
[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Just because he wears the cape.
[00:45:13] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.
[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_03]: What makes him that?
[00:45:16] [SPEAKER_03]: What makes the ancient one, the one who bestows that title on any one person?
[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
[00:45:24] [SPEAKER_03]: So I think that's what they're trying to do is to tie all of these strands of the MCU magic
[00:45:32] [SPEAKER_03]: together because right now everybody seems to...
[00:45:38] [SPEAKER_03]: We don't know.
[00:45:40] [SPEAKER_03]: We just don't know what is binding all of these magical beings together.
[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_08]: And there's definitely different rules in the MCU because, for instance, this whole
[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_08]: colored magic thing, I actually kind of think it's cool perhaps.
[00:45:54] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm very curious about it, but Agatha's like, let me get my purple back.
[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_08]: And obviously Wanda has red magic.
[00:46:01] [SPEAKER_08]: Alice we'll meet in the next episode has, let's call it coral colored magic.
[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_08]: It's also red.
[00:46:09] [SPEAKER_08]: But yeah.
[00:46:10] [SPEAKER_08]: Rio has green magic and they all have their different things.
[00:46:13] [SPEAKER_08]: So I'm curious what the rules or whatever are behind that.
[00:46:19] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_08]: Like red is chaos magic?
[00:46:22] [SPEAKER_08]: Are they tied to the infinity stones, the colors?
[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know because she said purple and there's only one big purple in MCU for me.
[00:46:33] [SPEAKER_03]: So as soon as you said purple, I'm like, oh, my ears kind of lit up.
[00:46:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, oh, what are we talking about here?
[00:46:42] [SPEAKER_03]: This is Fantastic Four?
[00:46:44] [SPEAKER_03]: What?
[00:46:45] [SPEAKER_03]: No, wait, purple?
[00:46:47] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, Agatha is tied to the Fantastic Four, but yeah.
[00:46:53] [SPEAKER_03]: So the big purple guy I'm talking about is Galactus for folks-
[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_08]: Which we know we're getting.
[00:46:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[00:46:58] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, do you think...
[00:47:00] [SPEAKER_08]: So of course people keep asking the cast all these questions that they can't answer.
[00:47:06] [SPEAKER_08]: And of course people are asking Catherine Han like,
[00:47:09] [SPEAKER_08]: oh, is Agatha going to show up with the Fantastic Four?
[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_08]: Because they're so closely associated in the comics and she's like, that would be cool.
[00:47:16] [SPEAKER_08]: But I wonder, I mean, I bet she doesn't even know because I bet
[00:47:20] [SPEAKER_08]: because they're starting in a different universe.
[00:47:22] [SPEAKER_08]: I bet they're not even, they're going to meet up in like Doomsday.
[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe.
[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_03]: If they survive.
[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I'm not entirely sure that that's the Fantastic Four
[00:47:35] [SPEAKER_03]: that we're going to get down the road.
[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_08]: No, you don't think?
[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_08]: I think they'll come over to this universe.
[00:47:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know.
[00:47:42] [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know.
[00:47:42] [SPEAKER_08]: All right.
[00:47:43] [SPEAKER_08]: All right.
[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_08]: Or what if our universe, quote unquote, is the one that dies and some people make it into theirs?
[00:47:51] [SPEAKER_08]: That would be wild, but they're not going to do that, are they?
[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I don't think so.
[00:47:58] [SPEAKER_03]: That would be super interesting, but that would throw away the last, what?
[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:48:05] [SPEAKER_08]: For anyone who doesn't know-
[00:48:07] [SPEAKER_03]: 10, 14 years?
[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:48:09] [SPEAKER_08]: For anyone who doesn't know, they're in a retro futuristic universe of Fantastic Four.
[00:48:13] [SPEAKER_08]: That's where we're going to see them in their first movie.
[00:48:17] [SPEAKER_08]: But yeah, then we get the closing credits and the music for this episode, not for the next one,
[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_08]: is the classic 1966 song by Donovan, Season of the Witch,
[00:48:26] [SPEAKER_08]: which I'm not going to play for copyright reasons, but look it up if you're not familiar with it.
[00:48:31] [SPEAKER_08]: And of course, there's lots of interesting Easter eggs.
[00:48:34] [SPEAKER_08]: I won't go that into detail because you can find visual guides to that on YouTube and
[00:48:40] [SPEAKER_08]: we have a whole other episode to watch.
[00:48:43] [SPEAKER_08]: But just to call out a few things, we do get, we get like some artwork that's often,
[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_08]: yeah, sometimes altered versions of famous witchy paintings.
[00:48:53] [SPEAKER_08]: We get images of real women who were accused of witchcraft in history.
[00:48:58] [SPEAKER_08]: We get clips from witchy films like Snow White and The Craft,
[00:49:02] [SPEAKER_08]: soon to be the topic of the Wolf Shift Dust Booktober episode.
[00:49:07] [SPEAKER_08]: And yeah, we get an image of Alice's rockstar mom.
[00:49:09] [SPEAKER_08]: We'll talk more about that in the next episode.
[00:49:11] [SPEAKER_08]: And we get instructions.
[00:49:13] [SPEAKER_08]: Like the one, the first thing they show is probably the most important.
[00:49:16] [SPEAKER_08]: It explains what happens at the end of the next episode.
[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_08]: It's a clip of text that says,
[00:49:21] [SPEAKER_08]: ye shall remove your shoes before touching the hallowed ground.
[00:49:26] [SPEAKER_08]: In order to connect to the power of the earth,
[00:49:28] [SPEAKER_08]: you must touch your feet to the soil and channel her divine magic through you.
[00:49:33] [SPEAKER_08]: There must be nothing in between no rubber or wood, not a soul, just not a soul, S O L E,
[00:49:39] [SPEAKER_08]: just your soul, S O U L.
[00:49:43] [SPEAKER_08]: So that explains why they go barefoot in the next episode.
[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And just one thing I'm really interested to see is if
[00:49:49] [SPEAKER_03]: the Witch's Road that we are seeing now has the same rules as the one from the comics,
[00:49:57] [SPEAKER_03]: which is that non-magical people can't walk the Witch's Road.
[00:50:03] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Well, we have Sharon Davis there.
[00:50:06] [SPEAKER_08]: Spoiler for the next episode.
[00:50:08] [SPEAKER_03]: But is she non-magical?
[00:50:11] [SPEAKER_08]: Good question.
[00:50:13] [SPEAKER_03]: That's because that was the first thing when they were on the road.
[00:50:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like, they're saying she's not a witch, but if the road behaves like,
[00:50:25] [SPEAKER_03]: has the same traits and characteristics from the comics, then she shouldn't be able to walk it.
[00:50:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Could be completely different. I'm curious. Yeah.
[00:50:34] [SPEAKER_08]: We'll talk about her. I'm worried about her.
[00:50:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh boy.
[00:50:38] [SPEAKER_08]: Do you have anything else you want to shout out from the first episode before we move on to episode
[00:50:41] [SPEAKER_08]: two?
[00:50:43] [SPEAKER_03]: No, let's get to episode two.
[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_08]: All right. We're going to take a quick break and when we get back, episode two.
[00:51:06] [SPEAKER_02]: Down, down, down the road, down the Witch's Road. Circle sewn with fate, unlock thy hidden gate.
[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_08]: So here we are, episode two, as the song lyrics said, a circle sewn with fate,
[00:51:28] [SPEAKER_08]: unlock the hidden gate. And again, these are all titles from the Witch's Road song lyrics.
[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_08]: We're going to talk more about the lyrics at the end. This episode was directed by Jack Schaeffer.
[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_08]: Again, the showrunner and it was written by Laura Donnie,
[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_08]: who is also another member of the WandaVision writing team.
[00:51:47] [SPEAKER_08]: So Jean, do you want to summarize the first part of the episode?
[00:51:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Sure. Seeking power. The teen boy tied up in Agatha's closet says he's a big fan of hers
[00:52:00] [SPEAKER_03]: and broke in to find a way to walk the Witch's Road. Like Agatha, he seeks power. Though Agatha
[00:52:08] [SPEAKER_03]: has walked the road alone before without her powers, she will need the help of a coven.
[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_03]: So she and teen hit the road. Just the regular locals you drive on at first.
[00:52:22] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, the biggest mystery they're setting up, which is why we're being so coy with this
[00:52:26] [SPEAKER_08]: spoiler section at the end, is that she can't hear him say his name or tell his life story later.
[00:52:34] [SPEAKER_08]: And do you get the sense he has no idea she can't hear that, right?
[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_08]: I don't think so.
[00:52:39] [SPEAKER_08]: He seems like confused by her weird responses.
[00:52:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I think, yeah, I think he totally thinks that everybody can hear him.
[00:52:48] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_03]: That he's not aware that everything he's saying is muffled. He's not aware.
[00:52:54] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah, we need anyone who can do lip reading, please write in, tell us what he's saying. But we
[00:53:01] [SPEAKER_08]: know later when they're in the car, he starts by saying he's from Eastview and then she can't
[00:53:07] [SPEAKER_08]: hear anything. And then the first thing we hear him say is, it's nice to get to know each other
[00:53:11] [SPEAKER_08]: a little better. And she's disgruntled and is like, drive faster. So I imagine he's just told
[00:53:17] [SPEAKER_08]: her something really personal and then he's heard she's so rude about it. It's nice we get to know
[00:53:22] [SPEAKER_03]: each other a little better. And just to give her a sense of who he is because he knows all about her.
[00:53:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Right? And that awkwardness that you have meeting someone who you might consider a hero,
[00:53:40] [SPEAKER_03]: someone that you might look up to. And now you're sitting in the car with them, driving them around
[00:53:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and you want them to know, hey, I'm not just somebody who worships your magical feet. This
[00:53:54] [SPEAKER_03]: is who I am too. So he's totally unawares that no one can understand him.
[00:54:01] [SPEAKER_08]: Right. Yeah. Well, we don't even know if no one could understand him because
[00:54:05] [SPEAKER_08]: whenever he's about to, someone asks who he is or he's going to introduce himself to someone else,
[00:54:09] [SPEAKER_08]: she interrupts and she keeps referring to him as her pet or her familiar Toto.
[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, that's true. That is true.
[00:54:16] [SPEAKER_08]: So we don't know if the whatever is happening where she can understand them,
[00:54:22] [SPEAKER_08]: if that affects any of the others.
[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Good point.
[00:54:26] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, he's 16, although the actor was 18 at the time of filming. So that's actually quite good.
[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_08]: And he thinks he broke the spell to get her out of the hex by himself,
[00:54:37] [SPEAKER_08]: but I don't think that's true. She doesn't seem to think that's true because she laughs at him.
[00:54:41] [SPEAKER_03]: I think he had a hand in it. I think he definitely had a hand in it. He might've pushed her,
[00:54:52] [SPEAKER_03]: but I think the breaking of the spell was Agatha.
[00:54:56] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Well, I was thinking because I think Rio was also,
[00:55:00] [SPEAKER_08]: I had played a role in it and I even wondered if anyone else, like the whispering man in the library,
[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_08]: whoever he may be, or the Salem Seven who wanted to-
[00:55:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think it was the Salem Seven.
[00:55:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I just think that everyone that she encountered before she broke the spell was pushing her to do
[00:55:24] [SPEAKER_03]: it. Like taking her hand and saying, go ahead, you can do this, you can do this, you can do this,
[00:55:30] [SPEAKER_03]: without them actually doing it. So it was her, but they each played a role
[00:55:37] [SPEAKER_03]: in her being able to break free of Wanda's spell.
[00:55:44] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. I do think it was like a collective effort and obviously took her too because Rio even said,
[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_08]: claw your way out.
[00:55:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Right, right.
[00:55:53] [SPEAKER_08]: I also, I'm predicting now, so she and Teen, we'll keep calling him that,
[00:56:00] [SPEAKER_08]: they both say they want power, but then Teen says that the road will give you the thing you want
[00:56:07] [SPEAKER_08]: the most if you make it to the end. I have a feeling they're going to find that they want
[00:56:11] [SPEAKER_08]: something other than just power. And to be more specific, we also hear he says this.
[00:56:18] [SPEAKER_05]: The road promises that what's missing awaits you at its end. Power is what I'm missing.
[00:56:27] [SPEAKER_05]: Sounds like it's what you're missing too.
[00:56:32] [SPEAKER_08]: The road promises you what you're missing. That is different
[00:56:36] [SPEAKER_08]: than it will give you what you want most.
[00:56:38] [SPEAKER_03]: It is different. What's he missing? He says power, but-
[00:56:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I doubt it.
[00:56:46] [SPEAKER_03]: For me, it felt like he is seeking the road to get what he wants and to get what he wants,
[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_03]: he needs power.
[00:56:55] [SPEAKER_08]: So power is actually just a means-
[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Means to an end.
[00:56:59] [SPEAKER_08]: To an end, yeah.
[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's how I took it when he said that.
[00:57:03] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[00:57:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Because he was not a mustache twirling villain. Give me all the power so I can take over the
[00:57:12] [SPEAKER_03]: world. No, he wasn't there, right? So I just felt like this is a kid who wants something.
[00:57:21] [SPEAKER_03]: We don't know what it is that he wants, but the witch's road
[00:57:24] [SPEAKER_03]: is leading him to be able to get what he wants.
[00:57:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. And with Agatha, I have to wonder if what she's missing is her son.
[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_03]: No. I think what she's missing is her power.
[00:57:40] [SPEAKER_08]: You think it's genuinely power for her?
[00:57:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. Yes.
[00:57:43] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. Okay. Okay. We shall see.
[00:57:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, it could come with those other things where primarily she wants her magic back.
[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Well, one thing she's definitely missing is friends and that's a problem because we hear-
[00:57:57] [SPEAKER_08]: What do you know about covens?
[00:58:01] [SPEAKER_06]: Just that they're drawn together by mysterious forces of fate
[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_06]: and that they're the truest form of sisterhood and...
[00:58:07] [SPEAKER_06]: Oh my God, are you taking me to meet your coven?
[00:58:10] [SPEAKER_09]: No, those harpies are dust. We do need a coven to access the road.
[00:58:16] [SPEAKER_06]: Right. Of course, that makes sense. It is the witch's floral possessive road.
[00:58:24] [SPEAKER_08]: So it's time to get the team together.
[00:58:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. Yeah, let's get it.
[00:58:29] [SPEAKER_08]: Just a couple more notes before we move on to the... I love that she spits at Wanda's
[00:58:34] [SPEAKER_08]: destroyed house foundations. She's-
[00:58:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Makes sense, right?
[00:58:37] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah, absolutely. I'm sure she's mad.
[00:58:39] [SPEAKER_08]: Makes sense.
[00:58:39] [SPEAKER_08]: Real mad.
[00:58:41] [SPEAKER_08]: And we have to call out, of course, that at one point,
[00:58:46] [SPEAKER_08]: Teens, I'm trying so hard not to call him other names, but Teens phone rings and we see on it,
[00:58:53] [SPEAKER_08]: Boif, which presumably stands for boyfriend. And he says he worries. He's going to be real worried
[00:58:58] [SPEAKER_08]: when Teen disappears. We're going to talk more about that in the secret comics corner.
[00:59:05] [SPEAKER_08]: And also we're introduced to the Covenstead rule, which is a made up MCU thing, but it makes sense.
[00:59:11] [SPEAKER_08]: So the rule is wherever you are, a coven there shall be. So that means within any three mile
[00:59:17] [SPEAKER_08]: radius, there will be a collection of witchy enough people to form a coven. Even the most
[00:59:23] [SPEAKER_08]: down and out witches when in close proximity with each other, bring out a magical spark.
[00:59:30] [SPEAKER_08]: So that brings us to... Do you want to summarize the next part?
[00:59:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, absolutely. Assembling the coven. Agatha first tries their luck with a strict,
[00:59:39] [SPEAKER_03]: moral psychic medium. After playing along with Agatha's play acting,
[00:59:44] [SPEAKER_03]: duh, it turns out actually psychic medium, Lillia Caldero calls her out for being Agatha
[00:59:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Heartless, recently released from the spell of someone she wronged. She says she's not
[00:59:58] [SPEAKER_03]: interested in joining the coven despite being in dire straits herself, foreclosure hanging over her
[01:00:04] [SPEAKER_03]: shop. But she divines the four names she needs to join her ideal coven. Unfortunately, Lillia's
[01:00:12] [SPEAKER_03]: name is on the list after all. She's instructed to meet Agatha at her house at 5 PM.
[01:00:20] [SPEAKER_08]: So what do you think of Lillia, our Patti LuPone character?
[01:00:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Awesome. Great. She was great. She was great. She struck all the right tones. I mean,
[01:00:34] [SPEAKER_03]: the way that she and Agatha obviously have a history, they've known each other for who knows
[01:00:42] [SPEAKER_08]: how long. Well, but it seems like there's more of a reputation... Well, she knew who Agatha was,
[01:00:48] [SPEAKER_03]: but Agatha didn't know who she was somehow. Yeah, but I think that's due to Agatha's
[01:00:55] [SPEAKER_03]: place in their world. Right. Agatha says herself, no one else is as high profile as her.
[01:01:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Exactly. So she may not know her, but she knows her. You know what I mean? So it was really cool
[01:01:10] [SPEAKER_03]: to see that play on people who have been around for a very long time. She says, how old are you?
[01:01:17] [SPEAKER_03]: What are you? 400.
[01:01:20] [SPEAKER_03]: And then Tene looks at her like, what? Huh? What's going on here? But that's the beauty of
[01:01:27] [SPEAKER_03]: what the show is doing, is bringing in these characters who, for whatever reason, are no
[01:01:33] [SPEAKER_03]: longer at their height. They're all... At some point they've fallen. They've lost their former
[01:01:42] [SPEAKER_03]: status. Each of them that we meet with are looking to get that back. Agatha is the first among them,
[01:01:53] [SPEAKER_03]: but each of the coven is looking to gain something, which is power.
[01:02:01] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. No witch in good standing is joining this coven. These are all desperate witches.
[01:02:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. Yes.
[01:02:07] [SPEAKER_08]: No. Yes.
[01:02:08] [SPEAKER_08]: And we find out that this version of Lili Kalduru is Sicilian. She's Eastern European
[01:02:15] [SPEAKER_08]: in the comics. So I'm guessing this... Like we talked about before, it makes sense that they are
[01:02:22] [SPEAKER_08]: diversifying and not just relying on stereotypes. But also this severs her origin story from Wanda's,
[01:02:30] [SPEAKER_08]: where she took part in Wanda's origin story in the comics. So yeah. Although I do wonder,
[01:02:36] [SPEAKER_08]: there's one thing in the comics where she changes. She can change her appearance to look older or
[01:02:42] [SPEAKER_08]: younger depending on what she's doing. So like when she wants to look wise, she looks older.
[01:02:47] [SPEAKER_08]: When she wants to look sexy, she looks younger. So I wonder if we'll see any of that.
[01:02:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know. I don't know. I think they're going to play it straight up with what we have.
[01:02:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. You don't want to waste Patti LuPone.
[01:03:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. That's what I'm... Yeah. Yeah.
[01:03:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I think they're going to play it straight up.
[01:03:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. And we hear that she got chased out of villages for accurately predicting tragedy.
[01:03:09] [SPEAKER_08]: And it was wracking my mind because there was another story that was the exact same,
[01:03:13] [SPEAKER_08]: but this is a recurring theme in witchcraft. If you are cursed when you can see the future,
[01:03:19] [SPEAKER_08]: because people don't want to believe you. Oh no, I'm just remembering somebody chased
[01:03:28] [SPEAKER_08]: away from Atlantis. Anyway, it doesn't matter. I did laugh during this. She's playing along with
[01:03:36] [SPEAKER_08]: Agatha play acting and then suddenly she's like, oh, another thing, blah, blah, blah.
[01:03:41] [SPEAKER_08]: And someone who you wronged and they took your agency dot, dot, dot for three years.
[01:03:47] [SPEAKER_08]: For three years.
[01:03:48] [SPEAKER_08]: I was like, that got specific.
[01:03:51] [SPEAKER_03]: She knew all along. As soon as you walked in through the door, she knew who you were.
[01:03:57] [SPEAKER_03]: This whole Southern accent thing you put on wasn't necessary. Just come out with the truth and tell
[01:04:05] [SPEAKER_03]: me what you're doing here. What do you want? So that was cool. She got her money. You know what
[01:04:09] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean? She got her money. Yeah, that's true.
[01:04:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Game pay, the fee. So it was good. It was good.
[01:04:15] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. And she's not impressed with Agatha's reputation. We hear this.
[01:04:21] [SPEAKER_10]: I didn't read your fortune. I read your reputation.
[01:04:25] [SPEAKER_10]: Witches like you are the reason people think we poison apples and steal children and eat babies.
[01:04:30] [SPEAKER_10]: Babies are delicious.
[01:04:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Agatha has a reputation.
[01:04:35] [SPEAKER_08]: Has she ever really eaten a baby? I don't think so.
[01:04:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Her reputation says she does. She has, right?
[01:04:42] [SPEAKER_03]: She leans into it.
[01:04:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. She's not saying no.
[01:04:46] [SPEAKER_08]: What do you think is going on with Lillia? Occasionally, it seems like she gets a magical
[01:04:52] [SPEAKER_08]: migraine and at one point later, she screams, get off me.
[01:04:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. That had me confused a little bit. Who is she talking to? Is she seeing something
[01:05:06] [SPEAKER_03]: that's about to happen? Is she being told that something is about to happen? Is some force
[01:05:13] [SPEAKER_03]: pulling her in a different direction? I have questions. I have questions. I have questions to
[01:05:19] [SPEAKER_03]: how her power operates and who she's connected to because she seems to be connected to some
[01:05:24] [SPEAKER_03]: sort of spirit or spirits who are giving her or guiding her or telling her things.
[01:05:32] [SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, that's going to be interesting to unravel.
[01:05:35] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah. I'm very curious. When she writes down that list of coven members and hands it over,
[01:05:41] [SPEAKER_08]: she says three of pentacles, which is the tarot card that it stands for both teamwork and it
[01:05:48] [SPEAKER_08]: means you're on the right track. So this is saying we're along the right track, but I'm
[01:05:54] [SPEAKER_08]: wondering if... So in the comics, she's both a descendant of the Baron's Mordo, but also a lover
[01:06:02] [SPEAKER_08]: of a later one. So comic books. Weird.
[01:06:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[01:06:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if we're going to get all of that.
[01:06:08] [SPEAKER_08]: But I do wonder in the comic, she was a caretaker of the book of Cagliostro,
[01:06:15] [SPEAKER_08]: which is something we've heard about, talked about through Dr. Strange, especially in What
[01:06:20] [SPEAKER_08]: If we saw him in one of the episodes, he found the book of Cagliostro and used it to summon up
[01:06:26] [SPEAKER_08]: all of these demons. And in the comics, she also at one point has from the god Set, she has
[01:06:33] [SPEAKER_08]: a serpent crown. So I'm looking for, if there's any references to these things, then we're going
[01:06:40] [SPEAKER_03]: to be Leo pointing meme at the TV. Well, I think Serpent Society is going to be in
[01:06:48] [SPEAKER_03]: the Captain America 2025 movie. Yeah, true. Could be tied in, who knows?
[01:06:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe there's a tie-in.
[01:06:56] [SPEAKER_08]: Do you want to queue up the next witch?
[01:07:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely. Next, they gather Jennifer Kale, a potions witch with no great love for Agatha,
[01:07:07] [SPEAKER_03]: but legal problems in both the witching world and the human world and her powers are bound.
[01:07:14] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. So out of all of the characters that they pulled from the comics, this is the biggest
[01:07:20] [SPEAKER_08]: departure, which is interesting because it's also other than Agatha, it's the biggest comic
[01:07:26] [SPEAKER_08]: character other than Agatha and Teen. It's the biggest character from the comics out of all
[01:07:33] [SPEAKER_08]: these that they've pulled in. So it's interesting that they've completely just gone with a whole
[01:07:39] [SPEAKER_08]: new story. I'm not hating on that, but I'm going to double down now on my Man-Thing's
[01:07:44] [SPEAKER_08]: going to show up later theory. I mean, they have to walk the green.
[01:07:50] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. I mean, I just feel like this Man-Thing could definitely show up at a trial and Man-Thing
[01:07:56] [SPEAKER_08]: is the guardian of the nexus of all realities and that's definitely got to include the witch's road.
[01:08:01] [SPEAKER_08]: And why do you pull up specifically Jennifer Kale, this specific character? So yeah,
[01:08:09] [SPEAKER_08]: listen for the name Theodore or Ted Salas as we go. And also listen for, she's also associated
[01:08:17] [SPEAKER_08]: with a book, The Tome of Zaret Nah, which kind of it's like a demon summoning book in a way.
[01:08:24] [SPEAKER_08]: Oh yeah, that's right. Her ancestor. Oh, Jennifer Kale's ancestor is one who, that's the person I
[01:08:33] [SPEAKER_08]: was trying to think of who was making predictions about Atlantis and got kicked out of the country
[01:08:39] [SPEAKER_08]: because like, oh, you say that we're going to all drown. So you have to go. Right. Okay.
[01:08:47] [SPEAKER_08]: So yeah, so they're mixing, they're mixing the backstories together. I'm curious how that's
[01:08:52] [SPEAKER_08]: going to go. But maybe we'll hear something about Dakeem, the enchanter was Jennifer's
[01:08:58] [SPEAKER_08]: magical trainer, her grandfather, Joshua, her brother. And of course we've mentioned before
[01:09:05] [SPEAKER_08]: that she is a cousin of ghost writers, Johnny Blaze and Danny Ketchum. So listen for all this.
[01:09:12] [SPEAKER_08]: She also has, I like the witches comic where she has a coven with two other big witches from the
[01:09:18] [SPEAKER_08]: comics overall, Topez, who's like an angelic one and Satana, you might know from the Hellstrom
[01:09:23] [SPEAKER_08]: series. I haven't read that. I haven't read that yet. And yeah, she prefers women now in the
[01:09:30] [SPEAKER_08]: comics, but she did have a romantic deadpool in the past. So just mentioning that, I doubt
[01:09:34] [SPEAKER_08]: they're going to go there with that. I can't see that. Oh no. Please no. No, no, no, no.
[01:09:43] [SPEAKER_08]: But in this version, we find out she's been bound for the last century or so. So again,
[01:09:47] [SPEAKER_08]: that's a departure because she's much older. They're all quite old in this version. She's got
[01:09:54] [SPEAKER_08]: edible probiotic candles. This is like a- That's the funniest shit.
[01:09:58] [SPEAKER_03]: That was the funniest. I was like, oh wait, they eating the wax?
[01:10:05] [SPEAKER_08]: She's like, you just got to burn it first. And she's got a lawsuit because people are getting
[01:10:10] [SPEAKER_08]: have to get skin grafts. Oh yeah, they eating the wax.
[01:10:14] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, the burning wax. Yeah. Because FDA says it has to be burned first.
[01:10:20] [SPEAKER_08]: That was great. But then, so another funny thing is Agatha is, they really leaned when all in on
[01:10:28] [SPEAKER_08]: you know what, we're going to make some jokes that are just for women. And they have Agatha
[01:10:32] [SPEAKER_08]: making jade egg jokes, which for anyone who doesn't know, this is like a tool that women can
[01:10:39] [SPEAKER_08]: place inside their, I'm going to say a scientific word that may make some men uncomfortable,
[01:10:44] [SPEAKER_08]: inside their vagina. And you can do muscle exercises to hold it in place and strengthen
[01:10:50] [SPEAKER_08]: the muscles down there, which help with various things. So that's what all those jade egg jokes
[01:10:54] [SPEAKER_08]: were about. And she's like, she steals one. She's like, you know where to find it, which yeah,
[01:10:59] [SPEAKER_08]: she means. Yeah, exactly.
[01:11:03] [SPEAKER_08]: But then yeah, Jennifer Kale also calls Agatha out again. Everyone's calling out Agatha today,
[01:11:09] [SPEAKER_08]: but Jennifer says, Who's this? Another child sacrifice? What do you think that means?
[01:11:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. That's the thing. Are these things that really happened? Did she really do it or does she
[01:11:26] [SPEAKER_03]: want people to think she's this evil? Yeah.
[01:11:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Or maybe not evil, but just unhinged. Like I will eat babies and sacrifice children,
[01:11:38] [SPEAKER_03]: so don't mess with me. Or did she actually do these things?
[01:11:43] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. I mean, she did like her face when Jennifer said that, her face was like she had,
[01:11:50] [SPEAKER_08]: was like slapped emotionally a little bit. So I do wonder if whether or not she actually did it,
[01:11:57] [SPEAKER_08]: I wonder if that's the story about how she lost her son.
[01:12:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Her reputation precedes her.
[01:12:03] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. All right. You want to set up the next witch?
[01:12:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. And then Alice Woo Gulliver, a blood witch, daughter of a witch, protection witch in her own
[01:12:13] [SPEAKER_03]: right. An ex-cop who's a bit too aggressive for her new mall security job, which she's immediately
[01:12:19] [SPEAKER_03]: relieved of. What she wants most of all is answers. What happened to her mom when she
[01:12:24] [SPEAKER_08]: walked the witch's road and never came back? So yeah, this story, Alice Woo Gulliver's story
[01:12:31] [SPEAKER_08]: is the most similar to the comic book origins. Although, so in the comic book, her mom is the
[01:12:37] [SPEAKER_08]: August Woo of the Coral Shore in Hong Kong. And in this case, it's Lorna Woo and the Coral Shore
[01:12:44] [SPEAKER_08]: is the name of a rock band, which has the most famous cover of the Ballad of the Witch's Road.
[01:12:51] [SPEAKER_08]: What do you think of this backstory?
[01:12:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I want to know why her mom is gone just as much as she does.
[01:13:02] [SPEAKER_03]: Like, I want to find out what's going on. I immediately wanted her to know. You know what
[01:13:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean? I immediately wanted her to know. Like, damn, she doesn't know what happened to her
[01:13:13] [SPEAKER_03]: mother. Let's hope she finds out. That's where I was at with it. I think her being a mall cop was
[01:13:21] [SPEAKER_03]: hilarious. But he stole something. He's like, yeah, you know what? You're done. Get out of here.
[01:13:29] [SPEAKER_03]: And just the way that you can be so downtrodden, know that you're destined or come from more,
[01:13:43] [SPEAKER_03]: and you're just here and stuck in this place, which she looked totally defeated.
[01:13:50] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[01:13:51] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, standing there, she just looked totally defeated. And if it's because of what happened to
[01:13:59] [SPEAKER_03]: her mom, then she's someone I'm rooting for to get the answers that she needs to get to move on in
[01:14:06] [SPEAKER_03]: her life. And I felt that in that brief instance. Like, man, she's so... It's like she hit rock
[01:14:14] [SPEAKER_03]: bottom, standing there as the security and being berated by the manager. Man, that's got to be
[01:14:26] [SPEAKER_08]: tough. Yeah. Yeah. So again, we talked about all these characters' comic book origins in more
[01:14:33] [SPEAKER_08]: detail in what comics you should read if you want to know more about them. But just as a recap,
[01:14:39] [SPEAKER_08]: her mom in the comics was killed in Hong Kong by a demon she was hunting. In this version,
[01:14:44] [SPEAKER_08]: she seems to have died on the witch's road. Now in the comics when her mom died, Alice woke up
[01:14:50] [SPEAKER_08]: with coral or red hair. And in this version, we see she has like the red tips in her hair. So
[01:14:55] [SPEAKER_08]: that's a nod to that for sure. But her boss, right before he fires her, he calls her bad luck. So
[01:15:02] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm wondering if she's cursed somehow?
[01:15:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe. Because it's not said directly that she is using her witch powers.
[01:15:15] [SPEAKER_03]: We could see with the other members of the coven that they were actively using or trying to use
[01:15:23] [SPEAKER_03]: whatever remnants of their powers that they once had, but she doesn't look like she's using anything.
[01:15:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[01:15:32] [SPEAKER_03]: So how does that play into who she is, what she is, what she's doing? Because in the comics,
[01:15:41] [SPEAKER_03]: she's also a cop, right? Her dad is a cop and she does the things that she does with her powers.
[01:15:49] [SPEAKER_03]: And so far we haven't gotten any indication that she's been using her powers in large or small
[01:15:56] [SPEAKER_03]: ways, except for this one mention of her being bad luck.
[01:16:03] [SPEAKER_08]: Right. Yeah. And that she's a blood witch. She's a daughter of a witch.
[01:16:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Right. She's a daughter of a witch. Right.
[01:16:08] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Which makes me wonder when she tracks Agatha's house and they ask her,
[01:16:13] [SPEAKER_08]: how did you do that? And she's like, I'm an ex-cop that's going to answer a lot of the questions.
[01:16:17] [SPEAKER_08]: But I wonder if there was some magical aspect too.
[01:16:21] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[01:16:22] [SPEAKER_08]: So the women and teen gather at Agatha's house, a cluster of prickly personalities each after
[01:16:28] [SPEAKER_08]: their own goals, but they are missing one, their green witch. Agatha had eaten the list Lillia
[01:16:34] [SPEAKER_08]: wrote when teen asked who the fourth name was, and Lillia reveals it was just a black heart.
[01:16:40] [SPEAKER_08]: Knowing and ignoring that must mean Rio Vidal, Agatha instead recruits Sharon Davis,
[01:16:45] [SPEAKER_08]: a woman who loves to garden and was known as Mrs. Heart in the hex.
[01:16:49] [SPEAKER_08]: Agatha invites her to a party, leaving the poor woman lost as to what's going on when the women
[01:16:54] [SPEAKER_08]: weirdly gather in the basement and start singing to summon a door to the witch's road.
[01:17:00] [SPEAKER_03]: It's probably my favorite scene in both episodes.
[01:17:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[01:17:06] [SPEAKER_03]: My favorite scene in both episodes. And Sharon Davis steals the screen time.
[01:17:13] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Every little thing she does is funny. It made me laugh out loud.
[01:17:17] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. She's just hilarious. She's just hilarious.
[01:17:17] [SPEAKER_08]: I love Deborah Drowrup. Yeah.
[01:17:19] [SPEAKER_03]: She's my favorite character that we've met so far.
[01:17:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Which is why I'm totally invested in her having magical abilities.
[01:17:28] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I hope she lasts longer than I fear she will.
[01:17:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Ah, don't say it. Don't go down that road.
[01:17:40] [SPEAKER_07]: Down, down, down the road.
[01:17:44] [SPEAKER_08]: I did note Agatha's mailbox is overflowing. That could just probably just because she was
[01:17:50] [SPEAKER_08]: like too hexed out to realize, but I do wonder if there's anything important in that mailbox
[01:17:55] [SPEAKER_03]: that you might have missed. But then how come her neighbors
[01:17:57] [SPEAKER_03]: didn't clear out her mailbox for us? Exactly. They're bringing her food.
[01:18:00] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, they bring her- They're doing everything else,
[01:18:02] [SPEAKER_03]: but they're not looking at her mail. Yeah.
[01:18:06] [SPEAKER_08]: And also it's interesting when Lillia and Jennifer meet, Lillia is like high priestess.
[01:18:11] [SPEAKER_08]: She recognizes this about Jennifer somehow, and she also recognizes that Jennifer's bound,
[01:18:16] [SPEAKER_03]: which makes sense. The high priestess thing got me.
[01:18:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. Because I already said that I wish
[01:18:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Marie Laveau was represented in this coven, in this magical series. If they somehow tie her
[01:18:33] [SPEAKER_03]: backstory to the voodoo of Louisiana or West Africa or Haiti or anything like that, that would
[01:18:43] [SPEAKER_03]: be so cool for me. So I'm very interested- That's also why I was wondering about the shells.
[01:18:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, definitely. But it wasn't... But the shells were... I think I would more agree
[01:19:00] [SPEAKER_03]: if the shells came from Jennifer. Yeah.
[01:19:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Obviously, you know what I mean? But I'm not sure about the shells coming from Agatha's
[01:19:13] [SPEAKER_08]: backstory. What if there was a history there somewhere? I don't know. Anyway, yeah,
[01:19:17] [SPEAKER_08]: just spitballing. But I do wonder... So in the comics, Jennifer's backstory is that she
[01:19:24] [SPEAKER_08]: is a descendant of this cult, of this tome of Zahrad-Na. So I could guess maybe the head of
[01:19:31] [SPEAKER_08]: the cult might be called a high priestess. Maybe that too, that too.
[01:19:36] [SPEAKER_03]: All right. You want to set up the basement bit? Yeah, let's go. The real plan.
[01:19:42] [SPEAKER_03]: The women sing the ballad to summon the road, but the door does not immediately appear.
[01:19:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Eventually they realize Agatha seems to be trying to goad them into attacking her. Agatha had
[01:19:54] [SPEAKER_03]: explained to Lillia that she can't steal someone's power unless they attack her first.
[01:20:00] [SPEAKER_08]: Do you believe that was a plan all along? Yes.
[01:20:03] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah? You do think that was Agatha's plan? Yes.
[01:20:07] [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know. I think at least part of her went through all this thinking like,
[01:20:11] [SPEAKER_08]: maybe we will get on the road. And it was only after it didn't work. She's like,
[01:20:15] [SPEAKER_08]: all right, plan B. That's my interpretation. So why did she send Teen upstairs when they
[01:20:20] [SPEAKER_03]: started singing the song? She had intentions of going on the road.
[01:20:24] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I do wonder that. Did she want to leave him behind or was she protecting him?
[01:20:32] [SPEAKER_03]: She doesn't seem very protective in these first two episodes. You know what I mean?
[01:20:39] [SPEAKER_03]: So I thought that plan was the plan all along was to get her, get them to attack her,
[01:20:47] [SPEAKER_03]: get her powers or get some powers where she's able to defend herself against the Salem Seven.
[01:20:54] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, for me, I see it as part of her, as you say,
[01:20:58] [SPEAKER_08]: letting herself be seen as more wicked than maybe she is deep down.
[01:21:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. But maybe that was legitimately,
[01:21:08] [SPEAKER_08]: she's like, all right, I tried this witch's road thing. This didn't work. Plan B, steal power.
[01:21:13] [SPEAKER_08]: That's what I do. That's my fallback. Right. That's what I mean. So it's all about power.
[01:21:17] [SPEAKER_03]: In general, that's her fallback. Getting her powers back.
[01:21:23] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. I don't know if that's what she... I feel like, I don't know. My prediction, we'll see-
[01:21:28] [SPEAKER_08]: You're giving her some grace.
[01:21:29] [SPEAKER_08]: My prediction is the end of the season, she's going to realize the thing that she's missing
[01:21:33] [SPEAKER_08]: is her son. And then she's going to understand Wanda a little better.
[01:21:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. All right. All right.
[01:21:40] [SPEAKER_08]: All right. We got to your-
[01:21:41] [SPEAKER_08]: We'll see. We'll see.
[01:21:43] [SPEAKER_08]: We got to your favorite part of the episode. Do you want to summarize it?
[01:21:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Meanwhile, Agatha has sent Tene upstairs to find Señor Scratchy, which he does. But he also finds
[01:21:53] [SPEAKER_03]: that the Salem Seven have arrived and there's no door to hold them out. As tension reaches its peak,
[01:22:00] [SPEAKER_03]: the door appears on the floor in the shape of a pentagram. The six of them descend before the
[01:22:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Salem Seven can reach them. And they find a wooden road stretching out in front of them
[01:22:12] [SPEAKER_03]: with no way to return, even if they wanted to. They remove their shoes and leave them,
[01:22:18] [SPEAKER_03]: continuing barefoot to whatever lies ahead.
[01:22:23] [SPEAKER_08]: So go ahead. What was your family yelling?
[01:22:27] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm sitting there with my beautiful better half, and we're watching Tene upstairs move a
[01:22:34] [SPEAKER_03]: sofa, do all these close the blinds. And we're like, why the fuck are you still upstairs?
[01:22:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Go to the fucking basement. Go to the basement. What are you doing? It was so Friday the 13th,
[01:22:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Freddy Krueger bad decisions. Go to the basement. That's where the help is. That's where the door
[01:23:01] [SPEAKER_03]: is. That's where everything you need to get away, get out from the line of fire. What are you doing,
[01:23:09] [SPEAKER_03]: bro? I was so like, I wanted to reach through the screen and just shake them up and say,
[01:23:17] [SPEAKER_03]: go in the damn basement. So yeah, that totally, totally worked for me. Obviously,
[01:23:24] [SPEAKER_03]: the whole scene worked for me.
[01:23:27] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, yeah, I was with you. I was also like, I was like on the one hand,
[01:23:31] [SPEAKER_08]: admirable he's trying to block off the door since there is none, the windows since they broke
[01:23:37] [SPEAKER_08]: through that. But then I was also at some point, I was like, get downstairs. The song's almost done.
[01:23:46] [SPEAKER_08]: I have a question though. So he found the rabbit and he was holding it. And then what happened
[01:23:51] [SPEAKER_03]: to the rabbit? I don't know because I was so focused on him going into the basement.
[01:23:57] [SPEAKER_08]: I have no idea what happened to Senor Scratchy. I watched closely and I still don't know.
[01:24:00] [SPEAKER_03]: We have no, we don't know the whereabouts of Senor Scratchy.
[01:24:04] [SPEAKER_08]: I have questions that are going to come up in the last section.
[01:24:07] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. But yeah, the Salem Seven proper scary. What did you think of them?
[01:24:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I loved the way that they were portrayed, the way they moved, the way they shifted,
[01:24:17] [SPEAKER_03]: the way they, everything about them was properly spooky.
[01:24:21] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[01:24:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Like I loved it.
[01:24:23] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. So this version of the Salem Seven is, we've, we were getting teases of them throughout
[01:24:29] [SPEAKER_08]: the episode because we saw these Agatha looking at these random animals and getting freaked out.
[01:24:34] [SPEAKER_08]: And most of them in this version at least are, well, actually in the original version,
[01:24:39] [SPEAKER_08]: they were also mostly shifters.
[01:24:41] [SPEAKER_08]: Yes.
[01:24:42] [SPEAKER_08]: But in this version, they mostly shift into animals. So our Salem Seven here are called
[01:24:48] [SPEAKER_08]: Vertigo, Coyote, Crow, Fox, Owl, Rat and Snake. And Vertigo is really the only carryover from
[01:24:57] [SPEAKER_08]: the comics. Although I guess you could count Snake because there was a reptilia in the comics, but
[01:25:01] [SPEAKER_08]: the other comics characters were different. So it's interesting that Vertigo was the only one
[01:25:06] [SPEAKER_08]: who couldn't shift in the comics. She was the eldest daughter and she was like the best witch
[01:25:12] [SPEAKER_08]: of the bunch. So I wonder if that's going to be the same.
[01:25:17] [SPEAKER_03]: We'll see.
[01:25:18] [SPEAKER_03]: It didn't show us much.
[01:25:20] [SPEAKER_08]: No, we know just the biggest parasties.
[01:25:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. They didn't reveal much so far. And I'm glad that they didn't because
[01:25:30] [SPEAKER_03]: we don't know how much of a proper antagonist they will be. So it's going to be very interesting
[01:25:36] [SPEAKER_03]: if they can get on the road as well.
[01:25:39] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah. So Mrs. Davis is delightful and I want her to be around the whole time.
[01:25:46] [SPEAKER_08]: Are you not as worried as I am?
[01:25:48] [SPEAKER_08]: Don't start. Don't start.
[01:25:49] [SPEAKER_08]: Are you not as worried as I am?
[01:25:50] [SPEAKER_08]: No, I'm not. I'm not worried.
[01:25:52] [SPEAKER_08]: She just wanted to get out of the house. She thought she was going to a party and now she's
[01:25:54] [SPEAKER_08]: on the road of death.
[01:25:55] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. And she took off her shoes and she's walking it. Let's go. You know, find her magic.
[01:26:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Am I supposed to know this song?
[01:26:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's find her magic. This is great. Yeah.
[01:26:06] [SPEAKER_08]: When she was just even singing the song, she's like,
[01:26:09] [SPEAKER_08]: am I supposed to know this song? And then by the end she's like swinging arms.
[01:26:12] [SPEAKER_08]: She's like, this song is great. I love this song. It's my new favorite.
[01:26:15] [SPEAKER_03]: She was in it. Yeah, let's go get her magic. Come on.
[01:26:21] [SPEAKER_08]: But we do have to note that Jennifer said earth magic is arguably the most important
[01:26:27] [SPEAKER_08]: skill set for an attempt at the road. And what other character has a lot of earth magic?
[01:26:35] [SPEAKER_08]: Rhea Vidal, the green witch.
[01:26:39] [SPEAKER_03]: The sea, but also the black heart, right?
[01:26:42] [SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm. Yeah. The black heart. Yeah. What do you think finally opened the road? Because they sang
[01:26:49] [SPEAKER_08]: the song and they were getting more and more desperate as they're singing it and the door
[01:26:52] [SPEAKER_08]: didn't appear. And then when they're fighting at the end is when it finally showed up. So true
[01:26:58] [SPEAKER_08]: sisterhood is fighting like sisters.
[01:27:01] [SPEAKER_03]: No, I don't know. I don't know what caused... That's a good question. I haven't thought about
[01:27:08] [SPEAKER_03]: that. Maybe I'll write in and let you know my thoughts on what opened the road, what opened
[01:27:15] [SPEAKER_03]: the door. Because I hadn't thought about that. Or like someone showed up or yeah, I don't know.
[01:27:20] [SPEAKER_08]: Or Salem Seven showed up and the need was desperate. I don't know.
[01:27:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe it was Mrs. Davis getting into the song.
[01:27:27] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, she was into the song and then I think she was bewildered after it ended and they're
[01:27:31] [SPEAKER_07]: all yelling at each other and she's like, what? We're having fun, right?
[01:27:34] [SPEAKER_08]: That's a good question.
[01:27:36] [SPEAKER_08]: All right. So yeah, let's talk about this song, The Witch's Road. Super catchy. You and I both
[01:27:42] [SPEAKER_08]: can't stop singing it. But we've also... Oh, by the way, it turns out it's kind of a coincidence
[01:27:50] [SPEAKER_08]: that they can all sing. I mean, obviously they knew what they were getting with Patti LuPone,
[01:27:55] [SPEAKER_08]: but for the rest of them, they were like, oh, by the way, we've decided you need to be able to sing
[01:28:00] [SPEAKER_08]: to enter the road. And it's like, oh, look at this. We're actually all completely brilliant
[01:28:05] [SPEAKER_08]: singers. Like Ali-An is apparently like a pianist also. So, and they're like, oh,
[01:28:12] [SPEAKER_08]: they just happen to all be musical. So lucky them because that song's amazing.
[01:28:16] [SPEAKER_08]: But the executives, they say that the lyrics are also kind of instructions or clues to the show.
[01:28:23] [SPEAKER_08]: So I thought we could go through them.
[01:28:29] [SPEAKER_03]: That's interesting tidbit.
[01:28:31] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. So we got our first stanza, Seekest thou the road, which was the name of the first title,
[01:28:39] [SPEAKER_08]: to all that's foul and fair, gather sisters, fire, water, earth, and air. So I guess this is
[01:28:46] [SPEAKER_08]: what we have. She needed to get this coven together of different...
[01:28:52] [SPEAKER_08]: So earth is obviously the green witch. I guess fire is probably the protection witch.
[01:28:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Air feels like... Jennifer Kael has an airy aura for some reason. And then water divination,
[01:29:06] [SPEAKER_08]: that's what I'm going with. What do you think?
[01:29:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. No, I agree with those. I agree with those.
[01:29:12] [SPEAKER_08]: And then darkest hour, wake thy power, earthly and divine, which they already pointed out,
[01:29:17] [SPEAKER_08]: the earthly part's important, burn and brew with coven true and glory shall be thine. So again,
[01:29:23] [SPEAKER_08]: it has to be a true coven.
[01:29:25] [SPEAKER_03]: So maybe this is what opened the door. Darkest hour, wake thy power.
[01:29:33] [SPEAKER_08]: Oh yeah. Because of the Salem seven were encroaching. Yeah.
[01:29:38] [SPEAKER_03]: And that's what made them into a true coven facing this threat together.
[01:29:44] [SPEAKER_08]: I think there shall be more threats to come. Okay. So then the second verse starts with
[01:29:52] [SPEAKER_08]: the lyrics that were the title of the second episode, which is circle some fate,
[01:29:57] [SPEAKER_08]: unlock thy hidden gate. And so, yeah, that seems pretty clear. We got the hidden gate at the end of
[01:30:02] [SPEAKER_08]: this and then it continues marching ever forward, meet the wooded shrine. Okay. Clear. I stray not
[01:30:08] [SPEAKER_08]: from the path. I hold death's hand in mine, AKA sorry, Mrs. Davis first. No, just kidding.
[01:30:16] [SPEAKER_03]: No.
[01:30:19] [SPEAKER_08]: But we get this instruction that they are not allowed to stray from the path,
[01:30:24] [SPEAKER_08]: which makes me predict at some point somebody is going to be forced to stray from the path.
[01:30:28] [SPEAKER_03]: No.
[01:30:33] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. Primal night, give it sight familiar by thy side. And she called, oh,
[01:30:41] [SPEAKER_08]: she called. Yes. When he ran downstairs is when the door appeared and she called him her familiar.
[01:30:49] [SPEAKER_08]: So maybe that's what it was about. Okay. And then, so another night reference, if sun be gone,
[01:30:56] [SPEAKER_08]: we carry on spirit as our guide. Now this spirit as our guide part reminds me of the fact that
[01:31:04] [SPEAKER_08]: Wanda's real mother, Natalia ended up acting as a sort of guide for her and Agatha when they did
[01:31:12] [SPEAKER_08]: the witch's road. So I wonder, we have a few parent stories going on. Maybe Alice's mother
[01:31:20] [SPEAKER_08]: will show up since we know she died on the witch's road. I think that would be my first guess.
[01:31:27] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. That maybe we'll see her mom. Yeah. And then we have a third verse. So,
[01:31:37] [SPEAKER_08]: oh yeah, each of the choruses and this chorus here ends with blood and tears and bone made
[01:31:44] [SPEAKER_08]: on mother crone. Interesting. And then the third verse starts with the road is wild and wicked
[01:31:52] [SPEAKER_08]: winding through the wood where all that's wrong is right. And all that's bad is good.
[01:31:59] [SPEAKER_08]: How that like a reversal somehow, Hmm. Through many miles of tricks and trials
[01:32:08] [SPEAKER_08]: well wonder we'll wander high and low tame your fears. A door appears. The time has come to go.
[01:32:14] [SPEAKER_08]: And that's how the, it ends down, down, down the witch's road. Follow me, my friend glory at the
[01:32:23] [SPEAKER_03]: end. And that from the previous verse, the ending of the refrain made in mother crone that's on her
[01:32:31] [SPEAKER_08]: brooch. Yeah. Right. Yeah. Yeah. This is like the sort of central archetype I think for the triple
[01:32:40] [SPEAKER_08]: goddess. Yeah. Hmm. Uh, some worrying things in there, especially all that stuff about characters.
[01:32:51] [SPEAKER_08]: You're really often characters. No, I hold death's hand in mine. I I'm worried that there's not enough
[01:32:55] [SPEAKER_08]: merchandising out there for Sharon Davis. I'm going to tell you that.
[01:33:01] [SPEAKER_08]: No, Mrs. Davis will survive. I hope so because yeah, I think she's, I think she's delightful
[01:33:09] [SPEAKER_08]: and I would be sad if she died. So will I, maybe she'll be the spirit guy after she dies.
[01:33:16] [SPEAKER_08]: Oh, come on. Sorry. Sorry. That's terrible. Sorry. I don't want it to happen. I'm just comparing
[01:33:22] [SPEAKER_08]: myself. You're offing. I'm pre grieving. I'm pre grieving. Mrs. Davis is going to survive.
[01:33:30] [SPEAKER_03]: She will come into her witchly powers. Okay. Okay. On the road. All right.
[01:33:35] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. Well, do you have any, uh, anything else you want to add about the second episode before
[01:33:41] [SPEAKER_08]: we get into our comic book, spoilery, specular speculation? Nah, I think we,
[01:33:46] [SPEAKER_03]: we hit everything that I wanted to say about it. Um, just great. It was, it was fun. It was fun.
[01:33:53] [SPEAKER_03]: It was spooky. Um, love the portrayal of the Salem seven. Give me more of that. Give me more of that.
[01:33:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. So I'm totally ready to see what happens on the road.
[01:34:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I think, uh, if anyone who's checking out now, um,
[01:34:11] [SPEAKER_08]: yeah, I, we want to hear your theories, especially about teen and other things. And, um, yeah, we
[01:34:18] [SPEAKER_08]: will, well, you will be back next week. I'm actually going to miss covering the third episode.
[01:34:24] [SPEAKER_08]: I'm definitely going to send in a voicemail with my thoughts and any Easter eggs I notice.
[01:34:29] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. I'm going to be at my sister's wedding. So David's taking my place.
[01:34:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Wonderful. Very lovely. Yeah.
[01:34:38] [SPEAKER_08]: But, uh, for those of you who want to hear what we really think the comic spoilers begin in three,
[01:34:46] [SPEAKER_08]: two, one comic spoilers engage. So, okay. We've we've, I did not expect that they would outright
[01:34:55] [SPEAKER_08]: in the first episode, bring up the name Nicholas scratch.
[01:34:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Neither did I.
[01:35:01] [SPEAKER_08]: Even though the Salem seven's coming in and again, in the comics, Nicholas scratches her son
[01:35:06] [SPEAKER_08]: and the Salem seven are his children.
[01:35:09] [SPEAKER_03]: All her grandchildren, Agatha's grandchildren.
[01:35:11] [SPEAKER_08]: Do you think it's going to be the same relation? So we already get the implication. He's still her
[01:35:17] [SPEAKER_08]: son. Do you think the Salem seven is still her grandchildren?
[01:35:20] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know because the room was, was a, a teen's room and or a young child's room.
[01:35:30] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not sure.
[01:35:32] [SPEAKER_08]: But that's also was in her delusion though.
[01:35:36] [SPEAKER_03]: Was it really though?
[01:35:37] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Well, this is when she was still in the cup show. We didn't see what it looks like
[01:35:41] [SPEAKER_08]: after she was broken under the hex.
[01:35:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Huh. I don't know. I, I'm, I'm not sure at what point she lost her son.
[01:35:53] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[01:35:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Because in the comics he's, he's grown, you know, when the Salem seven comes along,
[01:36:00] [SPEAKER_03]: like she's raised them. He, she's not lost to her.
[01:36:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.
[01:36:05] [SPEAKER_03]: But this suggests that at some point in his childhood, he's lost to her.
[01:36:10] [SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
[01:36:10] [SPEAKER_03]: So I don't know if it's going to be the same as in the comics where, you know, his children are,
[01:36:18] [SPEAKER_03]: he's leading his children on a war path against his mom.
[01:36:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe he's part of the Salem seven.
[01:36:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe he's one of the Salem seven.
[01:36:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, I don't, I mean, I guess no, he's not one. I don't think he's one of the Salem seven.
[01:36:34] [SPEAKER_08]: I think.
[01:36:36] [SPEAKER_08]: Why not?
[01:36:36] [SPEAKER_08]: I bet because he's their father. I don't know.
[01:36:40] [SPEAKER_08]: In the comics.
[01:36:42] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Okay. But here's the question. Do we think the whispering man in the stack and
[01:36:46] [SPEAKER_08]: I recognize the actor's face. I cannot remember his name and he's not credited. So, uh, we're
[01:36:52] [SPEAKER_08]: definitely going to be getting, we're going to find out who this is later for sure. Um,
[01:36:57] [SPEAKER_08]: if anyone recognized the actor, please let us know. But he, he looks like Nicholas Scratch
[01:37:02] [SPEAKER_08]: in the comics. No?
[01:37:03] [SPEAKER_03]: He does. He does. He does. He does.
[01:37:06] [SPEAKER_08]: Like if I made like a human version from the fantastic four comics.
[01:37:10] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[01:37:11] [SPEAKER_08]: That's what I would cast. Yeah.
[01:37:13] [SPEAKER_03]: No, he does look like him. Does look like him.
[01:37:15] [SPEAKER_08]: So he's grown up. Yeah. But then we'd have this whole teen question where I think regardless,
[01:37:23] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I think-
[01:37:23] [SPEAKER_03]: You think teen is Nicholas Scratch?
[01:37:25] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I think MCU is going to diverge from the comics as always. And, but I do think this
[01:37:31] [SPEAKER_08]: teen is going to end up being called Wiccan because like, what are we even doing with
[01:37:36] [SPEAKER_08]: having him in this show while they're setting up all these other young adventures can't characters.
[01:37:41] [SPEAKER_08]: If it's not Wiccan, it's clearly Wiccan. But, and Wiccan could even still be called Billy
[01:37:46] [SPEAKER_08]: Kaplan because you know, he was raised by some family in East view. Um, but what if he's not
[01:37:54] [SPEAKER_08]: Wanda's son reincarnated? What if he's Agatha's son reincarnated? Or what if he's somehow some
[01:38:01] [SPEAKER_08]: mixture of the two that brings the two women together because they have a common son?
[01:38:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want that.
[01:38:07] [SPEAKER_08]: You don't want it?
[01:38:08] [SPEAKER_03]: No, I don't want that. I want Wanda's son. I want Billy.
[01:38:15] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, I think his name is going to be Billy Kaplan regardless.
[01:38:19] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. But I want him to be Wanda's son.
[01:38:22] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay.
[01:38:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't want him to be Agatha's son.
[01:38:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay. What if he's both?
[01:38:33] [SPEAKER_03]: No, no. Because, because I think that's a huge part of Wanda's story and I don't want to just
[01:38:41] [SPEAKER_03]: like, just like this story for me.
[01:38:42] [SPEAKER_08]: Well, yeah, but that's not to say that her, yeah, yeah. But it would still be part of her
[01:38:46] [SPEAKER_08]: story if he was both somehow, somehow Billy returned.
[01:38:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. No, no, no.
[01:38:56] [SPEAKER_08]: I feel like this is, there's going to be a lot of, this seems to be a show that's a lot about
[01:39:02] [SPEAKER_08]: dealing with your legacy and, you know, being a parent and having parents and stuff. Because we
[01:39:08] [SPEAKER_08]: know we've got Agatha, we have her mommy stuff from the last, from WandaVision, you know, where
[01:39:15] [SPEAKER_08]: she and her mom tried to like kill her basically. And she killed her and her whole coven back in
[01:39:20] [SPEAKER_08]: in the original Salem. We have obviously Alice Wu Gulliver with her whole situation.
[01:39:27] [SPEAKER_08]: We have whatever's going on with Teen. And I'm still waiting to see what they're going to pull
[01:39:31] [SPEAKER_08]: from Jennifer Kale's story, but it is in the comics to a certain degree, it's a story about
[01:39:35] [SPEAKER_08]: legacy, about what's handed down to you. So.
[01:39:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Which is why I want it to be Agatha's son. I'm not Agatha's son, excuse me. I want him
[01:39:43] [SPEAKER_03]: to be Wanda's son because, you know, she uses the Darkhold magic to create him. Right? Like
[01:39:57] [SPEAKER_03]: that's part of his legacy is the Darkhold. But what's interesting is that in the current Marvel
[01:40:10] [SPEAKER_03]: comics, the Darkhold has taken human form.
[01:40:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, is a person.
[01:40:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe he's the Darkhold.
[01:40:19] [SPEAKER_03]: The Darkhold has taken human form and is a boy, you know, 12 years old, 13 years old,
[01:40:28] [SPEAKER_03]: something like that.
[01:40:30] [SPEAKER_08]: 16? Sure. Why not?
[01:40:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. Why not 16? And guess who is his-
[01:40:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Daddy.
[01:40:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Mama.
[01:40:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Guess who is his mom?
[01:40:39] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. She brought him into being basically. So yeah.
[01:40:45] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[01:40:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Agatha Harkness.
[01:40:48] [SPEAKER_08]: No, that makes a lot of sense. And maybe it is sort of like a reborn kind of thing. Like she had a
[01:40:54] [SPEAKER_08]: son that somehow was sacrificed for the Darkhold and now, or maybe she went after the Darkhold for
[01:41:04] [SPEAKER_08]: the same reason Wanda did is she wanted her son back. And that's something that got between her
[01:41:08] [SPEAKER_08]: and Rio.
[01:41:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe, but remember Wanda actually had the book.
[01:41:15] [SPEAKER_07]: Uh-huh.
[01:41:16] [SPEAKER_03]: So the book is gone.
[01:41:18] [SPEAKER_07]: Uh-huh.
[01:41:18] [SPEAKER_03]: That magic had to go somewhere.
[01:41:22] [SPEAKER_08]: Yep. I have another question about Teen and the rabbit. So I keep asking, where's the rabbit?
[01:41:29] [SPEAKER_08]: But like, does anyone but Agatha ever see the Teen and the rabbit in the same place at the
[01:41:37] [SPEAKER_08]: same time? Like, has anyone else even seen the rabbit this whole, like since this show started?
[01:41:43] [SPEAKER_08]: In WandaVision, they saw the rabbit, but now?
[01:41:45] [SPEAKER_03]: That's a good question. I don't know. Was anyone given the chance to see the rabbit?
[01:41:55] [SPEAKER_08]: We only saw the rabbit in the beginning and then we saw Teen holding the rabbit and then the rabbit
[01:42:01] [SPEAKER_08]: just disappeared when the Salem Seven showed up and we don't know what happened. But nobody else,
[01:42:07] [SPEAKER_08]: like the rabbit wasn't around when they were gathering for...
[01:42:11] [SPEAKER_08]: And she keeps calling him her pet and her familiar.
[01:42:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Questions, questions, questions.
[01:42:17] [SPEAKER_08]: Questions, questions. So see, those of you who stuck around, we're not spoiling anything. We
[01:42:22] [SPEAKER_08]: don't know.
[01:42:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Right. But this is an interesting line to pull on. Like I'm really leaning into Darkhold.
[01:42:35] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, yeah. They explicitly said Darkhold in these two episodes. So that's got to be...
[01:42:42] [SPEAKER_08]: Maybe this, yeah, it's about bringing the Darkhold back to life.
[01:42:47] [SPEAKER_08]: But I think you're right that it could be... I'm still...
[01:42:51] [SPEAKER_08]: And his fingertips.
[01:42:54] [SPEAKER_08]: The fingertips with the ink.
[01:42:55] [SPEAKER_03]: We already know that wasn't ink. You could say that, right?
[01:42:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Right.
[01:43:00] [SPEAKER_03]: They're not going to fingertip your 10 fingers. They're not going to ink your 10 fingers,
[01:43:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't think.
[01:43:08] [SPEAKER_08]: I guess they do, but it was also that was part of her delusion. So that didn't even really happen.
[01:43:13] [SPEAKER_08]: Right. It didn't really happen.
[01:43:13] [SPEAKER_08]: So this is her brain telling her things.
[01:43:18] [SPEAKER_08]: I do think, as I said, he's going to end the series called Wiccan, being named Wiccan. I'm
[01:43:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Boyf, who called. Apparently his name's Eddie. I don't know if this is actually confirmed or
[01:43:37] [SPEAKER_08]: there's something that's been in the rumor mill for more than a year. But
[01:43:41] [SPEAKER_08]: people are like, because it's Eddie, it can't be Hulkling, who is Wiccan's boyfriend in the comics.
[01:43:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Husband. They got married.
[01:43:49] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Okay. But not when they were teenagers.
[01:43:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah. Good thing they got a family. Yeah, yeah.
[01:43:54] [SPEAKER_08]: But Eddie is right next to Teddy, which is his name's Theodore Altman in the comics. So
[01:44:01] [SPEAKER_08]: I don't know. Do we think Boyf is Hulkling or just-
[01:44:05] [SPEAKER_08]: No.
[01:44:05] [SPEAKER_08]: Someone along the way?
[01:44:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I would need further evidence. I just need, I would need more to go on. I would need more to go
[01:44:13] [SPEAKER_03]: on.
[01:44:15] [SPEAKER_08]: And these two, Wiccan and Hulkling are considered one of the best romances in the comics. So
[01:44:20] [SPEAKER_08]: the question, on the one hand, do you think you want to see that on screen because it's such a
[01:44:25] [SPEAKER_08]: fan favorite and it's such a beautiful story and everything. On the other hand, does Disney dare?
[01:44:31] [SPEAKER_08]: Why wouldn't they?
[01:44:33] [SPEAKER_08]: Because they are terrified. They told the people at Pixar to make Riley from inside out to less
[01:44:42] [SPEAKER_08]: gay, less gay coded even, because she doesn't do anything. She just plays hockey. She's just
[01:44:47] [SPEAKER_08]: a girl playing hockey and she really likes another girl, but that could, who knows?
[01:44:52] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. When I say why wouldn't they, that was firmly tongue in cheek.
[01:44:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[01:44:57] [SPEAKER_03]: We know how Disney is terrible with these. With anything that strays from
[01:45:06] [SPEAKER_03]: what the most horrible of the fan base dislikes.
[01:45:11] [SPEAKER_08]: Mm-hmm. Yeah. There was already, there's already the, before the episodes went live,
[01:45:18] [SPEAKER_08]: their kind of reviews that you would expect popped up. We're not going to talk about it.
[01:45:21] [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly. We're not going to talk about it.
[01:45:23] [SPEAKER_08]: It still got really strong positive reviews-
[01:45:25] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, definitely.
[01:45:25] [SPEAKER_08]: Despite that. So-
[01:45:27] [SPEAKER_08]: Definitely.
[01:45:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
[01:45:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just, yeah. It would be a shame if they leaned away from that. It really would be.
[01:45:36] [SPEAKER_03]: It would be very disappointing if they did, especially seeing that they're maybe leaning
[01:45:43] [SPEAKER_03]: into a relationship between-
[01:45:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Agatha and Rio.
[01:45:47] [SPEAKER_03]: And Agatha. So let's see what it brings, what the rest of the season brings. But yeah.
[01:45:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. I hope that they just, this is on TV. I hope they just have the guts and go for it.
[01:46:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. But again, I don't think he's the Ted Teddy Altman from the comic.
[01:46:08] [SPEAKER_08]: No.
[01:46:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. I don't think so.
[01:46:10] [SPEAKER_08]: Maybe he's going to break up with him because he just disappeared.
[01:46:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Maybe. Or maybe he's going to break up with him because, you know, Billy or Teen isn't really Teen.
[01:46:22] [SPEAKER_03]: You know what I mean? Like this is something completely different. This is a force of nature
[01:46:27] [SPEAKER_03]: and not actually a person.
[01:46:30] [SPEAKER_08]: Hmm. So speaking of forces of nature, what the last comic book thing I wanted to bring up is
[01:46:36] [SPEAKER_08]: that there is a character in the comics named Blackheart who is the son of Mephisto. And I do
[01:46:42] [SPEAKER_08]: have to say in another comic, I think only like one comic, Mephisto also has a daughter named
[01:46:47] [SPEAKER_08]: Mephista. So I could see it's possible. What if Rio was Mephisto's offspring?
[01:46:56] [SPEAKER_03]: Hmm.
[01:46:58] [SPEAKER_08]: Blackheart.
[01:46:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know yet. I don't know yet. Yeah, it doesn't seem like that would be the way to go
[01:47:10] [SPEAKER_03]: at all. I don't think that could be his daughter.
[01:47:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Why?
[01:47:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Because there's just something about Mephisto's character that
[01:47:30] [SPEAKER_03]: they haven't really brought up in the MCU.
[01:47:35] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, this could be them bringing it up.
[01:47:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I know. That's what I'm saying. I don't know if introducing him via his daughter in this series
[01:47:43] [SPEAKER_03]: kind of makes sense to me.
[01:47:46] [SPEAKER_07]: Okay.
[01:47:48] [SPEAKER_03]: So I'm not sold on her being the Blackheart from the comic books.
[01:47:54] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.
[01:47:56] [SPEAKER_03]: She would be way more powerful than she is.
[01:48:00] [SPEAKER_08]: I mean, she seems pretty powerful. I think she just was pulling her punches with Mephisto.
[01:48:05] [SPEAKER_03]: No, we already agree with that, that she's pulling her punches,
[01:48:08] [SPEAKER_03]: but she would be way more powerful as a witch, as a magic user,
[01:48:15] [SPEAKER_03]: than even the glimpses that we received in the first episode.
[01:48:20] [SPEAKER_08]: Okay. All right.
[01:48:23] [SPEAKER_03]: And then she's talked about as being the green of the coven, right?
[01:48:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. And that's not a hellfire thing.
[01:48:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. Right. So it doesn't track with me for her to be the daughter.
[01:48:38] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. I think the problem is that anytime you put two words together,
[01:48:42] [SPEAKER_08]: there's a Marvel character named that because there's just so many Marvel characters.
[01:48:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. That is true too. That is true too. And when she says, I'm the Blackheart,
[01:48:56] [SPEAKER_03]: it didn't feel like... It felt more of a Blackheart as in you broke my heart type of thing.
[01:49:02] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah. Just like, I am so edgy.
[01:49:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. Because of you, because of what you did, how you wronged me.
[01:49:13] [SPEAKER_09]: Yeah. After all these centuries,
[01:49:17] [SPEAKER_09]: Agatha Harkness will finally meet her end. It really warms the heart.
[01:49:23] [SPEAKER_09]: You don't have a heart. Yes, I do. It's black and it beats for you.
[01:49:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. So I don't think that's the daughter of Mephisto.
[01:49:35] [SPEAKER_08]: She definitely better not be Agatha's daughter.
[01:49:37] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh gosh, no. We know she's not.
[01:49:42] [SPEAKER_08]: All right. Any final thoughts on the comic book side?
[01:49:45] [SPEAKER_03]: No, that's really... Yeah, I think that's pretty much it. I think
[01:49:51] [SPEAKER_03]: Teen is going to be the dark hole.
[01:49:54] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. I think... I mean, that's not a bad call. It's not a bad call. Yeah.
[01:49:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Let's see if that holds.
[01:50:02] [SPEAKER_08]: All right. Well, we will be back talking about every episode along the way until we get these
[01:50:07] [SPEAKER_08]: final revelations again. David will be stepping in for me next week. So congratulations to my
[01:50:13] [SPEAKER_08]: sister in advance. Congrats. Enjoy.
[01:50:18] [SPEAKER_08]: And the show is going to continue through October where we get a double finale that drops the night
[01:50:23] [SPEAKER_08]: of October 30th. So Halloween for the rest of us. Yeah. And I'll be back for episodes three
[01:50:31] [SPEAKER_08]: through nine. We also, we both started this week, the new series, The Penguins. So we're going to
[01:50:38] [SPEAKER_08]: have... After we watched it, you, David and I all were like, I don't know, we might have to do more
[01:50:44] [SPEAKER_03]: than one episode. Yeah. It's going to have to be more than a season recap because wow.
[01:50:51] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah. We agreed that we shouldn't compare it with this one because people keep trying to
[01:50:58] [SPEAKER_08]: compare them because they're comic book shows, but they are just so different.
[01:51:01] [SPEAKER_03]: So drastically different. There's nothing similar or there are nothing alike. There are nothing
[01:51:08] [SPEAKER_03]: alike except for the fact that the characters are drawn in comic books. That's it.
[01:51:14] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah. Just completely, they're not trying to be the same thing. And I think that they are both
[01:51:19] [SPEAKER_08]: exceptional examples of their own specific genres.
[01:51:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Yes. Yes. They're doing their own thing and they're doing their own thing very, very well.
[01:51:28] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. Yeah. Super impressed with the openings of both. So yeah, we'll definitely be talking more
[01:51:33] [SPEAKER_08]: about that. Obviously Rings of Power still going on episode seven coming out next week. And you
[01:51:40] [SPEAKER_08]: get the public feed, you get the private feed comes with an extra show guide and lore cast.
[01:51:47] [SPEAKER_08]: And there's the mailbags in between. There's one shots coming out. So we just released Alien
[01:51:53] [SPEAKER_08]: Romulus, which we had a great discussion. A blast doing that. That was fun.
[01:51:57] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. Yeah. It was a lot of fun. Big ass baby.
[01:52:01] [SPEAKER_08]: Big ass baby. That's the most important thing you need to take away from.
[01:52:06] [SPEAKER_08]: And the acid ballet. Yes.
[01:52:10] [SPEAKER_08]: And yeah, there's going to be, I think next week David's going to release another episode where
[01:52:15] [SPEAKER_08]: he's talking to various members of the community about that film also. And there's also going to be
[01:52:20] [SPEAKER_08]: a Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice breakdown coming out. Brennan and I recorded that last night,
[01:52:25] [SPEAKER_08]: so that'll be coming out probably shortly after this one.
[01:52:29] [SPEAKER_08]: Awesome. Stay tuned in October for all the spooktober goodness. We're just ramping up on
[01:52:34] [SPEAKER_08]: the scary side. And as always, of course, the Supercast and Patreon subscribers get early
[01:52:42] [SPEAKER_08]: ad-free access, extra episodes, including Second Breakfast and Elevensies, which was this month
[01:52:48] [SPEAKER_08]: Prey. Elevensies is our extra film review pod. And yeah, I went overboard on Prey. It was
[01:52:55] [SPEAKER_03]: my month of proposing movies.
[01:52:57] [SPEAKER_03]: I heard. I heard. I heard people who haven't watched it actually really liked it.
[01:53:02] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah.
[01:53:02] [SPEAKER_08]: It's such a good movie.
[01:53:03] [SPEAKER_08]: Who would have thought? Yeah.
[01:53:04] [SPEAKER_08]: Exactly.
[01:53:07] [SPEAKER_08]: Check out Nevermind the Music. If you liked our little musical snippets today,
[01:53:12] [SPEAKER_08]: guess what? They do it way better and also way shorter. So you'll find out their own-
[01:53:18] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah, really fun. You listened to the first-
[01:53:20] [SPEAKER_08]: I did.
[01:53:21] [SPEAKER_08]: There's three and a half episodes out because the half is like they do these side tracks
[01:53:26] [SPEAKER_08]: where they're talking about cover songs this week.
[01:53:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I haven't listened to that one yet.
[01:53:29] [SPEAKER_08]: Yeah. But really well-mixed, super fun. Much shorter than these. I was getting teased by
[01:53:40] [SPEAKER_08]: Mark about how long our episodes are, but you know what?
[01:53:43] [SPEAKER_08]: Hey, come on.
[01:53:45] [SPEAKER_04]: It's lots of sips.
[01:53:45] [SPEAKER_08]: A lot to talk about.
[01:53:46] [SPEAKER_08]: A lot to talk about.
[01:53:47] [SPEAKER_03]: A lot to talk about.
[01:53:49] [SPEAKER_08]: But speaking, of course, of our Supercast and Patreon subscribers, we always shout out
[01:53:55] [SPEAKER_08]: our biggest supporters. So we shout out our Discord server boosters who help make the
[01:54:01] [SPEAKER_08]: Discord a better place. This is like our primary social center. So definitely check out the link
[01:54:07] [SPEAKER_08]: in the show notes for the Discord. You'll find a link tree that goes to all the other podcasts
[01:54:11] [SPEAKER_08]: that we mentioned and the Discord and all this other stuff. And then I'm going to thank our
[01:54:16] [SPEAKER_08]: Loremasters who are our highest tier of subscribers. And we, like the software that we're
[01:54:22] [SPEAKER_08]: using, supporting co-hosts, just basically being able to run this and have some small compensation
[01:54:30] [SPEAKER_08]: for the amount of time that we put into this. Loremasters are what really make that possible.
[01:54:35] [SPEAKER_08]: So thank you so much. Thank you also to everyone who listens in general and our Lorehounds tier
[01:54:41] [SPEAKER_08]: as well, of course.
[01:54:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. Thank you. Thank you for this community. Thank you.
[01:54:46] [SPEAKER_08]: So I've lined up some music as we do. And this time it's from the Ambient folder,
[01:54:51] [SPEAKER_08]: so it's not going to be epic this time. It's called Violet Skies. So let's see. All right.
[01:54:59] [SPEAKER_08]: Thank you to our Discord server boosters, Narls, Aaron K., Tilla the Thriller, Dork of the Ninjas,

[01:56:01] [SPEAKER_08]: and always last, Adrian. Thank you.
[01:56:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Thank you. That was not epic, but it was cool.
[01:56:10] [SPEAKER_08]: It was ambient.
[01:56:13] [SPEAKER_08]: It was kind of like Mellowitchy vibes.
[01:56:16] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, definitely. Definitely. It fit the theme.
[01:56:19] [SPEAKER_08]: And until next week, we're going down, down, down the road.
[01:56:24] [SPEAKER_00]: We cast T'Challa.
