Star Wars: Maul - S01E05-06 - Inquisition / Night of the Hunted

David, Jean, and Bryan return for the third week of Star Wars: Maul - Shadow Lord as the stakes reach a new level with the arrival of the Empire on Janix. The team digs into Daki's frustrating decision-making, Two Boots' uncertain loyalties under Imperial occupation, and the chilling introduction of Inquisitor Marrok as he takes over the investigation. Elysia sends in an extensive lore bomb on the history of the Inquisitors alongside her fresh takes. The conversation highlights Maul's stunning lightsaber forms practice, the horror-tinged pacing of episode six's chase and train fight sequences, Devon's resilience against a far more powerful opponent, and the quiet scene between Devon and Riley that grounds the chaos in real human stakes. The team also speculates on what Lawson's ex-wife Drea is really up to inside the Empire.

00:19 --> 00:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Welcome to the Lowrounds where your guides to the underbelly of the empire.
00:23 --> 00:24 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm David.
00:24 --> 00:32 [SPEAKER_02]: This is our coverage of episode five and six of the new Star Wars animated feature, a mall shadow lord.
00:33 --> 00:37 [SPEAKER_02]: Back with me this week are Jean and Brian.
00:38 --> 00:39 [SPEAKER_02]: Jean, how are you doing this week?
00:39 --> 00:40 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm good, man.
00:40 --> 00:41 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm good, you know?
00:41 --> 00:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm just, yeah, I want to talk about this guy.
00:48 --> 00:49 [SPEAKER_02]: It's going on.
00:49 --> 00:50 [SPEAKER_05]: It is going on.
00:50 --> 00:51 [SPEAKER_05]: He's right now he does.
00:51 --> 00:52 [SPEAKER_05]: Here we go.
00:52 --> 00:53 [SPEAKER_05]: I'm good.
00:53 --> 00:53 [SPEAKER_05]: I'm good.
00:53 --> 00:56 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, may the force be with you.
00:56 --> 00:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
00:57 --> 00:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're coming up on May the Force.
00:59 --> 01:01 [SPEAKER_02]: I think this series ends on May the Force.
01:01 --> 01:02 [SPEAKER_05]: So it does.
01:03 --> 01:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:03 --> 01:09 [SPEAKER_02]: I am podcasting from the middle of Delaware and the basement of our in-laws house.
01:09 --> 01:15 [SPEAKER_02]: So if my audio is a little bit different, understand why it's spring break for our school districts.
01:15 --> 01:18 [SPEAKER_02]: So we're out on a little family road trip.
01:18 --> 01:22 [SPEAKER_02]: And speaking of Brian, it's not to David divert too much from our main topic.
01:22 --> 01:25 [SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, we do that on the
01:25 --> 01:32 [SPEAKER_02]: We were at three different historic sites today, plus a major museum.
01:33 --> 01:39 [SPEAKER_02]: And I know you were a dosent in the past at some historic sites.
01:39 --> 01:41 [SPEAKER_02]: And I have to say today,
01:41 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_02]: I just had the most lovely, we as a family had the most lovely experience with just what three or four or five different dosits and all dosits and all the places that we went.
01:52 --> 01:56 [SPEAKER_02]: And like shout out to anybody who volunteers their time at a historic site.
01:56 --> 01:58 [SPEAKER_02]: Y'all are amazing.
01:58 --> 02:00 [SPEAKER_02]: You know your history, your passionate.
02:00 --> 02:08 [SPEAKER_02]: You take your time to be with people from all kinds of walks of life,
02:08 --> 02:12 [SPEAKER_02]: and you're just there sharing the history with people.
02:12 --> 02:13 [SPEAKER_02]: It's amazing.
02:13 --> 02:16 [SPEAKER_02]: It's just really such a special activity.
02:16 --> 02:19 [SPEAKER_02]: So I just had to do that because we had an amazing experience today.
02:20 --> 02:20 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's great.
02:20 --> 02:21 [SPEAKER_05]: That's awesome.
02:21 --> 02:22 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
02:22 --> 02:23 [SPEAKER_05]: I love sharing the love.
02:23 --> 02:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, you know, we got a for Christmas and Hanukkah this last year.
02:28 --> 02:31 [SPEAKER_02]: I got the family, the National Park stamp books.
02:32 --> 02:33 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
02:33 --> 02:38 [SPEAKER_02]: And we got a special one because of the American Revolution, the Ken Burns documentary, Brian, which you and I covered.
02:38 --> 02:41 [SPEAKER_02]: And so there's a special one just for that as well as a regular park's book.
02:41 --> 02:43 [SPEAKER_02]: So we got our, we're in the first state today.
02:44 --> 02:46 [SPEAKER_02]: So we got our first stamps in our book.
02:46 --> 02:47 [SPEAKER_02]: So all right.
02:47 --> 02:49 [SPEAKER_05]: Very exciting journey begins.
02:49 --> 02:49 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
02:50 --> 02:53 [SPEAKER_02]: So, anyway, sorry to dive onto my favorite too much.
02:55 --> 02:58 [SPEAKER_02]: We're coming in hot, full spoilers, everything Star Wars on the table.
02:58 --> 03:14 [SPEAKER_02]: We've got a fresh off the digital presses, like literally moments before recording Alicia has sent in her fresh takes and has got a big lore bomb for us on the inquisitors and the history and who and a whole bunch
03:14 --> 03:19 [SPEAKER_02]: If you want to get in touch with us, that you can send emails, your com-links to Star Wars at TheLoreHounds.com.
03:19 --> 03:23 [SPEAKER_02]: And of course, we have a Discord server, invite you to join.
03:23 --> 03:24 [SPEAKER_02]: It's open to everyone.
03:25 --> 03:31 [SPEAKER_02]: We have a special bank of channels just for Star Wars and each of the pair of episodes.
03:31 --> 03:35 [SPEAKER_02]: for the mall series have their own channel.
03:35 --> 03:38 [SPEAKER_02]: So you can discuss without worrying about spoilers.
03:39 --> 03:44 [SPEAKER_02]: There's link trees and the shownuts for everything and we are independent podcasters.
03:45 --> 03:48 [SPEAKER_02]: And so subscriptions are very important to us.
03:48 --> 03:50 [SPEAKER_02]: And so I would invite you to check us out.
03:50 --> 03:52 [SPEAKER_02]: And if you like what we do, give us a subscription.
03:53 --> 03:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Again, links in the show notes.
03:55 --> 03:57 [SPEAKER_02]: We're not going to cover our Star Wars background.
03:57 --> 04:00 [SPEAKER_02]: We've done that in the last couple of episodes.
04:00 --> 04:10 [SPEAKER_02]: Just, you know, anybody who gets a little first key about what, you know, any of us individuals know, we have varying degrees of experience and knowledge around that, but the thing is, is that.
04:10 --> 04:13 [SPEAKER_02]: we're all here today, because we're really enjoying the series.
04:13 --> 04:16 [SPEAKER_02]: So let's go with that as a baseline.
04:17 --> 04:22 [SPEAKER_02]: And I think we might as well just get into some fresh takes.
04:23 --> 04:27 [SPEAKER_02]: Jean, you wanna start us off just your general takes for episodes five and six.
04:28 --> 04:30 [SPEAKER_02]: You wanna get into this specific episodes?
04:30 --> 04:37 [SPEAKER_01]: They've done a great job of really making me like Darth Maul.
04:39 --> 04:49 [SPEAKER_01]: That's my guy, you know, and I am enjoying the ride to see how he manipulates the board.
04:50 --> 04:51 [SPEAKER_01]: I just love it.
04:52 --> 04:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
04:53 --> 04:55 [SPEAKER_01]: I can't get enough of the guy.
04:55 --> 04:59 [SPEAKER_01]: He's really, he's captivating.
04:59 --> 05:05 [SPEAKER_01]: As far as a character is concerned, they've done a great job after making him captivating.
05:05 --> 05:27 [SPEAKER_01]: and he is so cunning and so meticulous and so two steps ahead in his thinking that it's yeah he's risen up my ranks of characters that I want to see more of right one forward so yeah
05:28 --> 05:29 [SPEAKER_01]: That's where I'm at.
05:29 --> 05:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I think the it's done that job for me and um everything else is just gravy at this point.
05:40 --> 05:42 [SPEAKER_02]: Brian, what are you feeling?
05:42 --> 05:49 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, this is, we're, we're feeling I think with these two episodes, the intensity.
05:49 --> 06:00 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like writing a wave and your top of the wave and you're kind of seeing down and you're just writing it and it's like, oh, what is going to happen here?
06:01 --> 06:01 [SPEAKER_05]: And...
06:01 --> 06:24 [SPEAKER_05]: So we're feeling the intensity, it's moving, it's on a force of its own, no pun intended and we also see in these two episodes the boot of the Empire and how it affects a community, a city and such a large city too.
06:24 --> 06:32 [SPEAKER_05]: and just one large ship can just have such a big impact about the community, very scary actually.
06:32 --> 06:32 [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
06:33 --> 06:38 [SPEAKER_05]: And we're, these two episodes were at a kind of tipping point.
06:38 --> 06:43 [SPEAKER_05]: We have, as I mentioned, the Empire and Janix, you know, what's going to happen to Janix.
06:44 --> 06:45 [SPEAKER_05]: And then we have the Syndicate.
06:46 --> 06:46 [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
06:46 --> 06:47 [SPEAKER_05]: Is it money?
06:47 --> 06:59 [SPEAKER_05]: or for mall is it I want an apprentice and we are kind of trying to figure out what direction these two plots are going for.
07:00 --> 07:02 [SPEAKER_05]: So it's it's very interesting.
07:03 --> 07:03 [SPEAKER_05]: It's good stuff.
07:05 --> 07:05 [SPEAKER_02]: Nice.
07:06 --> 07:14 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't have much to add other than I feel that five obviously was a more of a setup
07:15 --> 07:18 [SPEAKER_02]: And then there's a lot of dramatic payoff in six.
07:19 --> 07:32 [SPEAKER_02]: But I just keep being amazed by the cinematic quality, the direction that the animators have taken, the camera moves are so cinema-driven, right?
07:32 --> 07:39 [SPEAKER_02]: And you just feel these grand sweeps, and you got these wide shots, and then these close-up shots,
07:39 --> 07:46 [SPEAKER_02]: the ending shot of mall and six, that sort of hypnotic thing, I mean, it's not the ending ending, but it's the end of that scene.
07:46 --> 07:48 [SPEAKER_02]: That's just incredible.
07:48 --> 07:49 [SPEAKER_02]: It's just really good.
07:49 --> 07:56 [SPEAKER_02]: So, but Alicia has some takes for us, so let's check out to see what she has to say.
07:56 --> 07:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Hello, my dark side curious.
07:58 --> 08:04 [SPEAKER_00]: It's Alicia again checking in by Conlink after Mall, Shadow Lord Episodes 5 and 6.
08:05 --> 08:07 [SPEAKER_00]: This was a fun pair of episodes.
08:07 --> 08:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Episodes 6 is everyone keeps saying was obviously a highlight.
08:12 --> 08:20 [SPEAKER_00]: I do love Brander Lawson's coffee addiction, although someone needs to get him a thermos for when he's like zipping around the city.
08:20 --> 08:23 [SPEAKER_00]: in his little flying car, whatever it's called.
08:23 --> 08:36 [SPEAKER_00]: I really like that they're showing the, you know, that malls, knees, they're, they're reminding us that their machine parts, and they need to be maintenance and repair it, and mall is just,
08:36 --> 08:42 [SPEAKER_00]: a being just, you know, mortal and has to attend to these things as we all have to attend to our knees.
08:43 --> 08:55 [SPEAKER_00]: And now they complexities of Eko-Diodaki and Devon having nowhere else to go, but then putting
08:55 --> 09:10 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I understand why people are mad at them, but I'm also like, I don't know what else they were going to do and they feel the same and you know, we saw I could do a documentary, tell Devon to stay behind and protect them, so
09:10 --> 09:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's complicated.
09:11 --> 09:12 [SPEAKER_00]: It's complicated.
09:12 --> 09:18 [SPEAKER_00]: I did like when Devon called out to Riley, Porsche, the sheltered little Riley.
09:18 --> 09:22 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, you don't think my life was maybe a little bit different than yours.
09:22 --> 09:31 [SPEAKER_00]: When I was raised to be a child soldier, I am wondering more and more now if
09:31 --> 09:41 [SPEAKER_00]: It may end up that Devin gets sent on the path with, say, Ventress, who was last seen in the tales of the underworld episodes, connecting with the path.
09:42 --> 09:49 [SPEAKER_00]: And that's, that's to smuggle out young Jedi force, you know, young force sensitive people.
09:50 --> 10:00 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, a wood mall be accepted to go with them that would be so interesting if this show ended up exploring that because we do see mall softening versus what he was.
10:01 --> 10:19 [SPEAKER_00]: I wonder where Riley is going to land at the end of all this with the tension between his parents and obviously he's seeing that his mom is working for the bad guys.
10:19 --> 10:21 [SPEAKER_00]: and just be sad that his dad didn't show up enough.
10:22 --> 10:35 [SPEAKER_00]: But we do see that Riley chose his dad to live with, and he seemed to understand that something's wrong about the empire from the moment he went to try to visit him at the office.
10:35 --> 10:38 [SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, this is not a slow child.
10:39 --> 10:48 [SPEAKER_00]: On mall side of things, it's interesting to see descent within the death watch ranks be interesting to see where that goes from here.
10:48 --> 10:54 [SPEAKER_00]: It was fun seeing the mother daughter voice acting duo in the same scene this week.
10:55 --> 11:00 [SPEAKER_00]: So the rena-soul character, Brandeer's informant slash maybe Bunch.
11:00 --> 11:02 [SPEAKER_00]: Come on while partner.
11:02 --> 11:05 [SPEAKER_00]: She is played by Pamela Adlon.
11:06 --> 11:08 [SPEAKER_00]: And she is a new species.
11:08 --> 11:10 [SPEAKER_00]: They called the Pad Lombs species.
11:10 --> 11:12 [SPEAKER_00]: Get it, get it after her.
11:13 --> 11:13 [SPEAKER_00]: Very cool.
11:13 --> 11:18 [SPEAKER_00]: I hope we learn more about the Pad Lombs and see more of that.
11:18 --> 11:26 [SPEAKER_00]: But Devon is played by Pamela Adlon's real-life daughter, Gideon Adlon, so that's fun.
11:26 --> 11:34 [SPEAKER_00]: All in all though, the coolest thing here was, you know, other than mall showing up to save the days, just like the relentlessness of Mark.
11:34 --> 11:42 [SPEAKER_00]: So the lower bomb this week, I'll be back later with it's going to be about the inquisitors, who Mark is and his whole crew.
11:43 --> 11:45 [SPEAKER_00]: But I leave you with this question, a ponder for now.
11:46 --> 11:48 [SPEAKER_00]: Is Spybot secretly the best character in this show?
11:49 --> 11:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes.
11:56 --> 12:08 [SPEAKER_01]: It's no, no, but, but, but if I'm ranking in order, it is small, and then it is spy-by.
12:10 --> 12:23 [SPEAKER_05]: Right where the spybot ranked a spybot is very high for people who remember from last episode I like you got to show the love for spybot He's just you know, I mean he needs it.
12:24 --> 12:25 [SPEAKER_05]: We all need the spybot.
12:26 --> 12:26 [SPEAKER_05]: I mean my gosh.
12:27 --> 12:29 [SPEAKER_05]: It's just so handy to have around
12:29 --> 12:34 [SPEAKER_02]: What was the, uh, I remind me of the droids name from Rebels.
12:34 --> 12:38 [SPEAKER_02]: I can see his face or a nice face, but it's shaped a little orange guy.
12:38 --> 12:39 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, gosh.
12:39 --> 12:40 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
12:40 --> 12:43 [SPEAKER_05]: Don't come on, it's, uh, somebody look it up.
12:43 --> 12:44 [SPEAKER_02]: Somebody's got the internet.
12:44 --> 12:46 [SPEAKER_02]: I can't write it because I got a small screen.
12:46 --> 12:47 [SPEAKER_02]: What's the, it's name?
12:47 --> 12:51 [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, anyway, I would love to see a spin off with spybot and that joy.
12:51 --> 12:52 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to get added out.
12:52 --> 12:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully people will not, uh, you know, but hey engagement.
12:56 --> 12:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Why is that?
12:57 --> 12:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, why?
12:59 --> 13:00 [SPEAKER_01]: Totally blanking.
13:01 --> 13:02 [SPEAKER_02]: Come on, somebody look, you can kill.
13:02 --> 13:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I can.
13:03 --> 13:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I'm not.
13:03 --> 13:04 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying it.
13:04 --> 13:05 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to find it.
13:06 --> 13:11 [SPEAKER_02]: Chopper, chopper, we're all old, our son-aptic, we're fired.
13:12 --> 13:13 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we're fired today, totally.
13:14 --> 13:18 [SPEAKER_02]: What about a chopper spybot spin off?
13:19 --> 13:19 [SPEAKER_02]: I love that.
13:20 --> 13:21 [SPEAKER_02]: I can alternate those things.
13:23 --> 13:26 [SPEAKER_02]: Two little shit birds getting up to some free stuff.
13:27 --> 13:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
13:28 --> 13:30 [SPEAKER_02]: You know, committing genocide casually.
13:33 --> 13:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man.
13:34 --> 13:36 [SPEAKER_01]: What did you have to see survive?
13:36 --> 13:37 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
13:37 --> 13:37 [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
13:38 --> 13:38 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
13:38 --> 13:39 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
13:39 --> 13:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
13:40 --> 13:41 [SPEAKER_05]: Sith and Jedi.
13:41 --> 13:42 [SPEAKER_05]: No, no, no, no, no.
13:42 --> 13:44 [SPEAKER_02]: It's a joy.
13:44 --> 13:44 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
13:44 --> 13:47 [SPEAKER_02]: If you got to watch the draw, it's always got to watch the draw.
13:47 --> 13:50 [SPEAKER_02]: I think so we're going to take a quick break here.
13:50 --> 13:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Then we'll come back and we'll talk about episode five.
13:52 --> 13:57 [SPEAKER_02]: And I just want to prepare everybody like.
13:57 --> 14:01 [SPEAKER_02]: Alicia's got her lore bomb is like 11 minutes long.
14:01 --> 14:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so we're going to school.
14:04 --> 14:14 [SPEAKER_02]: So get your notebooks out, you know, settling, get your cup of calf because we've got some a learning to do so let us take a quick break and then we'll come back.
14:14 --> 14:16 [SPEAKER_02]: We will talk about episode five.
14:28 --> 14:29 [SPEAKER_02]: And we're back.
14:29 --> 14:42 [SPEAKER_02]: So chapter five, inquisition, imperial forces led by Lieutenant Blake and that Jedi hunting inquisitor Mark, occupied Genics City, and take over the investigation into Mall.
14:42 --> 14:49 [SPEAKER_02]: Devon wants to stay to confront Mall, but Daki decides to escape the city to hide from the Empire.
14:49 --> 14:54 [SPEAKER_02]: as they attempt to leave, the city is locked down and they're cut off by imperial troopers.
14:55 --> 15:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Despite the protests of a second in command, Rootcast Mall, Rootcast Mall decides to stay in the city in hopes of making Devon his apprentice.
15:06 --> 15:15 [SPEAKER_02]: Chief Klyce is interrogated by the
15:15 --> 15:22 [SPEAKER_02]: Lawson is questioned by American claims that he first encountered malduring an ambush in the lower levels of janks.
15:22 --> 15:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Genics, sorry, Riley contacts his mother, Dreya, who works for the empire and tells Riley to cooperate with the investigation.
15:31 --> 15:36 [SPEAKER_02]: He attempts to visit Lawson at the precinct and has turned away by two boots.
15:36 --> 15:43 [SPEAKER_02]: Mara investigates the scene of the firefight and sees evidence of
15:43 --> 15:51 [SPEAKER_02]: Blake allows Lawson to leave the precinct and he comes home to find Devon and Ducky seeking a refuge with Riley.
15:51 --> 15:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you Wikipedia for that episode synopsis.
15:55 --> 15:56 [SPEAKER_02]: John to you first.
15:58 --> 15:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Man, what's up with Ikodeo Ducky?
16:00 --> 16:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Man, I'm one of the people who was upset.
16:04 --> 16:10 [SPEAKER_01]: That he bought Devon, you know, to Lawson's crib like that.
16:10 --> 16:12 [SPEAKER_01]: But that I mean, come on, bro.
16:12 --> 16:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
16:13 --> 16:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
16:13 --> 16:19 [SPEAKER_01]: And not the city much sooner, like the moment that's done broke orbit.
16:19 --> 16:22 [SPEAKER_01]: It's been gone because it's gone.
16:22 --> 16:25 [SPEAKER_01]: That's what you keep telling her that she needs to do, she needs to be on the run.
16:25 --> 16:31 [SPEAKER_01]: But then you're trying to do what, you know, go slow.
16:31 --> 16:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, what's happening here?
16:34 --> 16:39 [SPEAKER_01]: And then to show up at Do's House, I'm just like, man, come on, you can't do that.
16:39 --> 16:41 [SPEAKER_01]: You can't put people in situations like that.
16:41 --> 16:42 [SPEAKER_01]: You can't do that.
16:43 --> 16:50 [SPEAKER_01]: You can't put people in situations like that.
16:50 --> 16:51 [SPEAKER_01]: And it goes to the heart of things
16:52 --> 17:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Because they have this thing about them that sometimes a lot of the times they will put a loose at risk without any regard and I just don't understand.
17:12 --> 17:17 [SPEAKER_01]: why as a crew, they choose that sort of violence, it's crazy.
17:18 --> 17:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, what are we doing?
17:20 --> 17:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, I don't respect the crew of the Jedi.
17:23 --> 17:29 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't respect, I just can't, the guy has a kid in his house.
17:30 --> 17:41 [SPEAKER_01]: He's, you know that the empire is there and you know the first place they're gonna go to is the quote unquote police headquarters, right?
17:41 --> 17:45 [SPEAKER_01]: You know those guys are gonna be underscored.
17:45 --> 17:46 [SPEAKER_01]: Daki knows this.
17:47 --> 17:50 [SPEAKER_01]: This is not something that is, we'll be foreign to him.
17:51 --> 17:52 [SPEAKER_01]: He knows the tactics.
17:53 --> 17:59 [SPEAKER_01]: So why would he jeopardize Lawson and Lawson's family?
18:00 --> 18:12 [SPEAKER_01]: I hate it, and that's the thing that, you know, everything else that went on in the episode, the set up for episode six, you know, me and Maroc and all of that stuff, yeah, cool.
18:12 --> 18:19 [SPEAKER_01]: But I think that's the one thing that's gonna stay with me for this, these two episodes, right?
18:19 --> 18:27 [SPEAKER_01]: It's that showing no care to the safety of others was really, really, really.
18:27 --> 18:30 [SPEAKER_01]: really annoying and angry.
18:31 --> 18:33 [SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, that's where I'm at.
18:35 --> 18:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Brian, were you as frustrated by Eko Dio Daki as a Jean and I were?
18:41 --> 18:49 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but lately we'll let me interrupt you, sorry, just
18:50 --> 18:56 [SPEAKER_02]: I get the choice of going to Lawson and Riley's house because like where else are you going to turn like I understand that.
18:56 --> 19:00 [SPEAKER_02]: But bro, why weren't you not out of the city the moment.
19:00 --> 19:02 [SPEAKER_02]: The Imperial showed up.
19:02 --> 19:06 [SPEAKER_02]: You should have just been gone and this sort of slow moving.
19:06 --> 19:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, let's just sort of wander our way.
19:08 --> 19:10 [SPEAKER_02]: I just it just boggled my mind.
19:10 --> 19:11 [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
19:11 --> 19:11 [SPEAKER_02]: So go ahead.
19:11 --> 19:12 [SPEAKER_02]: Pick up your thoughts.
19:13 --> 19:15 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I think.
19:15 --> 19:24 [SPEAKER_05]: they should have been out of that city, out of the planet, way even before the in destroyer ever showed up.
19:24 --> 19:27 [SPEAKER_05]: They should have been when things were being to go down, they should have been gone.
19:29 --> 19:29 [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
19:30 --> 19:39 [SPEAKER_05]: It's one of those things that I will say is I don't necessarily excuse that decision, because it's a really bad one.
19:40 --> 19:44 [SPEAKER_05]: But Dekai is not on his game, right?
19:44 --> 19:47 [SPEAKER_05]: He is to me a wounded animal.
19:48 --> 19:50 [SPEAKER_05]: And he is a Dekai.
19:51 --> 19:52 [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, Eko Deodaki.
19:53 --> 19:54 [SPEAKER_05]: Dekai, sorry.
19:55 --> 19:55 [SPEAKER_02]: I know.
19:56 --> 19:57 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
19:57 --> 19:58 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
19:58 --> 20:00 [SPEAKER_05]: So he is not on his game.
20:01 --> 20:03 [SPEAKER_05]: He is he is literally hurt.
20:04 --> 20:04 [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
20:04 --> 20:05 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's call him Ed.
20:05 --> 20:05 [SPEAKER_05]: Ed.
20:06 --> 20:07 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
20:07 --> 20:08 [SPEAKER_05]: Ed is not the master.
20:09 --> 20:10 [SPEAKER_01]: The EDD was wild.
20:10 --> 20:11 [SPEAKER_01]: That was cool.
20:11 --> 20:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
20:12 --> 20:12 [SPEAKER_05]: EDD was wild.
20:13 --> 20:13 [SPEAKER_05]: Ed.
20:13 --> 20:22 [SPEAKER_05]: And was injured, he's been in a fight, and he's been fleeing from genocide.
20:23 --> 20:26 [SPEAKER_05]: So I will give him...
20:27 --> 20:30 [SPEAKER_05]: I'll give him some grace to say he's not thinking straight.
20:30 --> 20:33 [SPEAKER_05]: He's not at full power or so to speak.
20:33 --> 20:36 [SPEAKER_05]: You know, I think he's wounded.
20:36 --> 20:40 [SPEAKER_05]: He's not feeling well and he's desperate, I think.
20:40 --> 20:43 [SPEAKER_05]: And that is unfortunately.
20:44 --> 20:53 [SPEAKER_05]: You know, the end of episode five, and then we get to episode six, are the consequences of that poor decision, right?
20:53 --> 20:57 [SPEAKER_05]: All of a sudden, they are, as I was mentioning earlier, the stakes go up.
20:57 --> 21:04 [SPEAKER_05]: So he did make a very poor choice, but in my head, I think I kind of maybe in a way, understand it.
21:05 --> 21:13 [SPEAKER_05]: And it, like John, I think in this moment, we could really see how the Jedi has stumbled.
21:13 --> 21:25 [SPEAKER_05]: right and they've stumbled pretty low until maybe we get back to the original, you know, trilogy where we begin to see them kind of build back up because right now they're a hot mess.
21:27 --> 21:28 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah.
21:28 --> 21:43 [SPEAKER_01]: So, so question, I'm not sure, I don't know if I missed it, but how long between Order 66 and this series and the story that we're watching?
21:44 --> 21:46 [SPEAKER_02]: I know it has been more than a year.
21:46 --> 21:49 [SPEAKER_02]: I know just guess the timeline in prior episodes.
21:49 --> 21:50 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if I can't remember.
21:50 --> 21:56 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you can access the notes in the different outlines.
21:56 --> 21:57 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't have the text screens.
21:58 --> 22:00 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm working because I'm podcasting from a basement.
22:00 --> 22:02 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't have, and I'm on a small laptop.
22:02 --> 22:05 [SPEAKER_02]: It's hard to look up this stuff.
22:05 --> 22:10 [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, no, I had some questions about that as well.
22:11 --> 22:14 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk a little bit about Marock.
22:15 --> 22:21 [SPEAKER_02]: I loved, I loved, loved, loved the fact that he was already in the room in just in the shadows.
22:22 --> 22:27 [SPEAKER_02]: And the first we get of him is like the hand on loss and the shoulder, I think is what it was.
22:27 --> 22:29 [SPEAKER_02]: And then the lighting and everything like that.
22:29 --> 22:31 [SPEAKER_02]: So that was just a really great.
22:32 --> 22:44 [SPEAKER_02]: I was a little surprised that the lieutenant, that seems like a low rank for somebody coming in for what's the lieutenant's name Blake and they certainly make him look like a
22:45 --> 22:47 [SPEAKER_02]: not nice guy no no matter what.
22:48 --> 23:02 [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah the fact that the the empire are come and straight in to the police department right you you just know that that's going to mess up loss and and so yeah for you could do a document and to make that choice about going to him.
23:03 --> 23:06 [SPEAKER_02]: But then of course yeah as we said he doesn't have a lot more choices.
23:09 --> 23:12 [SPEAKER_02]: Two boots is kind of
23:13 --> 23:16 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that was the next thing I was going to say.
23:17 --> 23:23 [SPEAKER_01]: See, I know you, I know you do, you do, you do, um, two boots, no, I wasn't.
23:24 --> 23:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to, I don't want to immediately throw him, you know, throw two boots off the ledge, but throw him in the trash compactor.
23:33 --> 23:48 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if two boots is playing into a role right now, because I kind of got that feeling that he was just, you know, going along to get along, but then it was just like,
23:48 --> 23:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Wait a minute, I think he's really believing that everything is going the way it should be going.
23:55 --> 23:57 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was afraid of mine.
23:57 --> 24:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I was of two minds watching him interact with Riley.
24:02 --> 24:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Because at one point, I was just like, I think he's just trying to get this kid out of his quickly enough.
24:09 --> 24:13 [SPEAKER_01]: So no suspicion can be thrown his way.
24:13 --> 24:18 [SPEAKER_01]: But he did get a pretty hard shove in the back.
24:18 --> 24:27 [SPEAKER_01]: But then there's also interactions where he, where it seems, I say, you know, tools actually believes in what's happening, that's a great thing.
24:27 --> 24:34 [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm confused a little bit by how two boots is reacting to the Empire's presence right now.
24:34 --> 24:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
24:35 --> 24:37 [SPEAKER_02]: He's like, oh, look, they're being so generous.
24:37 --> 24:38 [SPEAKER_02]: It's very recent.
24:38 --> 24:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
24:40 --> 24:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
24:40 --> 24:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
24:40 --> 24:41 [SPEAKER_01]: But then they're here.
24:42 --> 24:48 [SPEAKER_01]: But then when he says, when he tells Riley
24:48 --> 24:58 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, and then it's like a, there was almost like a faster pace, like you got to get out of here as you were saying that.
24:59 --> 24:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
24:59 --> 24:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
24:59 --> 24:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
25:00 --> 25:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
25:01 --> 25:03 [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm I'm a little confused as to where two boots is right down.
25:04 --> 25:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
25:05 --> 25:13 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping he two boots goes the right way and doesn't have to be reprogrammed.
25:15 --> 25:25 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping the programming that Tubu's has allows Tubu to make the correct decision to see that the empire thinks without, you know, someone.
25:25 --> 25:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they left some crumbs for a possible turn for Tubu.
25:31 --> 25:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yeah, yeah.
25:33 --> 25:33 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
25:33 --> 25:34 [SPEAKER_05]: And it wouldn't be the...
25:35 --> 25:39 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it won't be the first time, like a droid comes to say that.
25:39 --> 25:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely, yes, you know, yes.
25:41 --> 25:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
25:42 --> 25:45 [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm invested in the two-boot situation right now.
25:46 --> 25:46 [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
25:48 --> 25:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Really quick, back to, I know we're kind of swinging around here, but something just reminded me about the interrogation scene.
25:56 --> 26:03 [SPEAKER_02]: I want to put, we're going to put Alicia's inquisitor stuff towards the end here
26:05 --> 26:24 [SPEAKER_02]: But I noticed, again, a couple of times I mentioned this last episode, and a couple of times this episode, and especially when Lawson walks into the interrogation room in the music, there was like a synth sound that gave me like hardcore and or vibes again.
26:24 --> 26:27 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you guys picked up on it this time or not.
26:27 --> 26:29 [SPEAKER_02]: I heard the music this time.
26:29 --> 26:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
26:30 --> 26:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
26:30 --> 26:31 [SPEAKER_01]: I'd be here to music this time.
26:31 --> 26:34 [SPEAKER_02]: And then seeing the scratch marks on the desk, right?
26:34 --> 26:40 [SPEAKER_02]: That really brought me back to, yeah, Bixie's interrogation and the use of torture.
26:41 --> 26:43 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I've tortured it on that side and that stuff.
26:43 --> 26:47 [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I love how they're bringing in these dark elements.
26:47 --> 26:52 [SPEAKER_02]: Like this is a kind of a Star Wars storytelling that I've been,
26:53 --> 26:56 [SPEAKER_02]: You know, you could have multiple lanes.
26:56 --> 26:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Star Trek does this.
26:57 --> 27:00 [SPEAKER_02]: I know Star Wars does it as well, but I want Star Wars to do it.
27:01 --> 27:02 [SPEAKER_02]: more better, I guess.
27:02 --> 27:02 [SPEAKER_02]: You can say.
27:03 --> 27:06 [SPEAKER_02]: And I really want them to lean into for the adult content.
27:07 --> 27:09 [SPEAKER_02]: And this is really leaning into that.
27:09 --> 27:13 [SPEAKER_02]: And the fact that we have divorced pair or separated parents here.
27:13 --> 27:14 [SPEAKER_02]: We have torture here.
27:14 --> 27:20 [SPEAKER_02]: We have, you know, not just faceless bad guys, but like real evil stuff going on.
27:21 --> 27:30 [SPEAKER_02]: And that is, I think, just an important storyline to not forget is how bad the empire is and how
27:30 --> 27:34 [SPEAKER_05]: Well, you know, just just quickly David, you mentioned Star Trek.
27:34 --> 27:38 [SPEAKER_05]: It's kind of interesting because I think Star Trek was really geared toward adults.
27:40 --> 27:41 [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm not sure where it goes.
27:41 --> 27:46 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and store words from the get go was kind of, although a lot of adults liked it.
27:46 --> 27:47 [SPEAKER_05]: But it's for quadrant.
27:47 --> 27:48 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
27:48 --> 27:52 [SPEAKER_05]: It was, you know, a lot of kids just, you know, we're the same generation.
27:52 --> 27:56 [SPEAKER_05]: We just got sucked into the toys and the, and the, you know, everything.
27:57 --> 28:06 [SPEAKER_05]: And I think they got shackled a little bit with the kids until they kind of started to really think outside the box a little bit.
28:06 --> 28:21 [SPEAKER_02]: right and until we get you know stuff like and or yes exactly and I would say bad batch a little bit I think there's some different story lines with rebels like again I'm not I'm not there as I heard there is you know yes there is yes right yeah
28:21 --> 28:23 [SPEAKER_02]: they start to play with it a little bit more.
28:23 --> 28:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
28:24 --> 28:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
28:24 --> 28:30 [SPEAKER_01]: I think what they did was dip their toes into that type of storytelling with the animation.
28:31 --> 28:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Mm-hmm.
28:31 --> 28:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
28:32 --> 28:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Before they bought it to, you know, live action.
28:35 --> 28:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
28:35 --> 28:36 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
28:36 --> 28:42 [SPEAKER_01]: So the animation had been going in this route, you know, for 20 years.
28:43 --> 28:45 [SPEAKER_01]: And now the live action is catching up.
28:47 --> 29:06 [SPEAKER_02]: And I really, you know, you can say what you want about Tony Gilroy and his personal attitudes towards the Star Wars property, but he did kind of break through a wall here in terms of being irreverent towards the canonical side of things.
29:07 --> 29:17 [SPEAKER_02]: And then just saying, I have a story to tell about this, these spies and these people who are putting everything on the line to
29:17 --> 29:37 [SPEAKER_02]: and telling that story got it was it was it a year ago that and or season two was it was I think we were watching it like right about now yeah right about now yeah yeah yeah that's right so that you know that we this is the first real property that was produced after the ending of that I would assume.
29:38 --> 29:43 [SPEAKER_02]: because we did have the acolyte, but that had been in production prior.
29:43 --> 29:46 [SPEAKER_02]: So we're living in a post-and-or world.
29:47 --> 29:47 [SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
29:47 --> 29:56 [SPEAKER_02]: And so we can sort of take benefit from how that the influence of that show is we're gonna see.
29:56 --> 30:06 [SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna be interesting to see and properties coming forward where do we pick up those different elements that they've met new territory that and or broke open for us.
30:09 --> 30:12 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's talk a little bit about, let's see, I don't know where we want to go.
30:12 --> 30:22 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, because I want to talk about the mom, but I also want to talk about, you know, something we didn't talk about with Eka Deodaki, is the fact that bro tried the mind trick and it didn't work.
30:22 --> 30:26 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it worked on the trooper, but there's a network of troopers, right?
30:27 --> 30:29 [SPEAKER_02]: And the other guy picked it up.
30:30 --> 30:31 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, exactly.
30:31 --> 30:32 [SPEAKER_05]: I love that, I love that part.
30:32 --> 30:36 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like there were just too many store troopers around to make that work.
30:37 --> 30:38 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, what was this?
30:38 --> 30:55 [SPEAKER_02]: Is there are these guys technically TK troopers because they're a little bit different and I don't know the the evolution and history of the Of the troopers coming from clones to human conscripts and what their the different names are And somebody said something in this.
30:55 --> 31:02 [SPEAKER_02]: I thought I heard a Trooper maybe it was last bank of episode somebody referred to a TK number.
31:02 --> 31:04 [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh, okay, is that
31:04 --> 31:05 [SPEAKER_05]: might have been episode five.
31:05 --> 31:07 [SPEAKER_05]: There were five of us together.
31:07 --> 31:08 [SPEAKER_05]: They were communicating with one another.
31:08 --> 31:10 [SPEAKER_05]: So the other I didn't hear that as well.
31:10 --> 31:11 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
31:12 --> 31:14 [SPEAKER_05]: TK was wasn't the front.
31:14 --> 31:14 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
31:14 --> 31:19 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm sure there's some, you know, or I don't know if we'll see where we go with the next set of episodes.
31:19 --> 31:24 [SPEAKER_02]: But it would be interesting to get a little bit of throughline of how troopers.
31:25 --> 31:29 [SPEAKER_02]: Because you can tell the era
31:29 --> 31:44 [SPEAKER_02]: whether they're clones or you know stormtroopers or what have you so that's sort of a historical throughline Let's talk about the mom a little bit, Dram, and what are your guys' theories?
31:45 --> 31:50 [SPEAKER_02]: John, do you have any personal theories about what's up with Riley's mom?
31:51 --> 31:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah
31:54 --> 31:59 [SPEAKER_01]: I think she might be a double agent.
31:59 --> 32:00 [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
32:00 --> 32:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Did you read my comment in the discord before you I didn't know.
32:03 --> 32:04 [SPEAKER_02]: Is that yours?
32:04 --> 32:05 [SPEAKER_02]: I did not see it.
32:05 --> 32:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
32:06 --> 32:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Because I laid down that picture.
32:08 --> 32:10 [SPEAKER_02]: The moment that I watched it.
32:10 --> 32:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I did not see it.
32:11 --> 32:12 [SPEAKER_01]: I did not see it.
32:12 --> 32:12 [SPEAKER_01]: I did not see it.
32:12 --> 32:14 [SPEAKER_02]: I did not see it.
32:14 --> 32:16 [SPEAKER_02]: She is a deep coverage.
32:18 --> 32:19 [SPEAKER_02]: So we're on the same place.
32:19 --> 32:23 [SPEAKER_02]: You're on the same mindset, okay, okay, Brian, are you in on this bed or are you?
32:23 --> 32:30 [SPEAKER_05]: I see the issue, like I'm thinking like back story.
32:30 --> 32:33 [SPEAKER_05]: So we know we know loss and is a bounty hunter.
32:34 --> 32:43 [SPEAKER_05]: So I'm thinking was a bounty hunter, but it's like, okay, so your wife, it's like so the empire,
32:43 --> 32:48 [SPEAKER_05]: maybe might know that he was a bounty hunter, maybe maybe not.
32:49 --> 32:51 [SPEAKER_05]: And if so, would they even bring her in?
32:53 --> 32:58 [SPEAKER_05]: But so there is because their relationship with him, he's teemed it.
32:58 --> 33:26 [SPEAKER_05]: heard his paintings to affect her yeah and wherever she is in the power structure yeah that's why I was thinking like a scientist something that has no huge maybe some security clearance but not super high security clearance we don't we know it's not you know it doesn't have the white uniform that we see for the internal bureau right so but it's kind of that drab
33:26 --> 33:27 [SPEAKER_05]: You know, there's no.
33:27 --> 33:36 [SPEAKER_02]: And she didn't have to make it, you know, there's no rank-in signal that just but she had a little badge or an ID thing or something on her waist.
33:36 --> 33:41 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she could be that that was making me think as civilian administration or something.
33:41 --> 33:42 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, like I was kind of.
33:42 --> 33:47 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, maybe data, maybe, you know, technology.
33:47 --> 33:53 [SPEAKER_02]: What if she's in like Palpatine's the administrative setup or something like that?
33:53 --> 33:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
33:54 --> 34:01 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, the thing that made me think that was, it was so low key.
34:01 --> 34:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
34:02 --> 34:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
34:03 --> 34:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
34:03 --> 34:07 [SPEAKER_01]: Because it was so, it was, why are they introducing her to us?
34:07 --> 34:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it was almost like a secret that she was talking to her songs.
34:14 --> 34:14 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
34:15 --> 34:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
34:15 --> 34:22 [SPEAKER_01]: It, it, it's seeing, that's what it's, it felt like she was somewhere in a corner
34:22 --> 34:40 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, trying to get a broadcast out, that's the field that I got watching her and that's why I think maybe there's more to what's going on with her than what we originally have been, you know, fed and she was really clear.
34:41 --> 34:42 [SPEAKER_02]: do what the troopers tell you.
34:43 --> 34:53 [SPEAKER_02]: Follow the orders, not cause problems, just be insignificant, to not draw attention to yourself.
34:53 --> 35:00 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm paraphrasing about here, but she was like super specific of, not like, oh, don't worry, honey, everything will be fine.
35:00 --> 35:05 [SPEAKER_02]: But you know, whatever, she was like, listen to me, do not,
35:05 --> 35:11 [SPEAKER_02]: pop your head up above anything, which, well, episode six, you know, well, that's so much for that plan.
35:13 --> 35:19 [SPEAKER_02]: But she was like, and she got down on his level and was like, she was giving him the talk.
35:19 --> 35:25 [SPEAKER_02]: Like, when you encounter the empire, do what they say, do not have a round.
35:26 --> 35:40 [SPEAKER_02]: And that was just like, that was so at a character in, at some of the, and then what you're saying is, well, you're on, like, that whole picture was like, oh, this is sort of, this is kind of an innocuous, you know, I'm talking to my mom, but there's just signal all over it.
35:40 --> 35:43 [SPEAKER_02]: They're signaling to me that there's stuff.
35:43 --> 35:46 [SPEAKER_02]: There's more than what we know here, right?
35:46 --> 35:47 [SPEAKER_02]: So.
35:47 --> 35:48 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
35:48 --> 35:56 [SPEAKER_05]: And I keep thinking that she is either seen some very horrible stuff on her side.
35:56 --> 35:59 [SPEAKER_05]: And that's why she's giving this message to our son.
35:59 --> 36:02 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, I, you know, reading between lines.
36:03 --> 36:03 [SPEAKER_05]: I know.
36:03 --> 36:05 [SPEAKER_05]: I know what they can do.
36:05 --> 36:06 [SPEAKER_05]: I've seen it.
36:06 --> 36:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
36:08 --> 36:09 [SPEAKER_02]: And then how did they get together?
36:09 --> 36:10 [SPEAKER_02]: How, yeah.
36:10 --> 36:11 [SPEAKER_02]: So there's a whole lot of questions.
36:11 --> 36:12 [SPEAKER_02]: A lot of
36:13 --> 36:17 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's swing back to Miracle real quick before we do the lore bomb.
36:18 --> 36:19 [SPEAKER_02]: What's that?
36:19 --> 36:20 [SPEAKER_02]: OK, so here we are.
36:20 --> 36:23 [SPEAKER_02]: We're sure at least I've showed my lack of knowledge again.
36:24 --> 36:25 [SPEAKER_02]: There's some, what is it?
36:25 --> 36:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Psycho telemetry or psycho something like when you can read the Force users can read the past.
36:31 --> 36:37 [SPEAKER_02]: There's a whole thing of Marek was, he could hear the battle and he could read the signs.
36:38 --> 36:40 [SPEAKER_02]: And I think we saw that, did we see that in the acolyte?
36:41 --> 36:43 [SPEAKER_02]: Where, or was it in Ahsoka?
36:43 --> 36:44 [SPEAKER_02]: No, it was Ahsoka, right?
36:45 --> 36:52 [SPEAKER_02]: She could kind of envision the past using the echoes of the past, you know, she could move them through the force.
36:53 --> 36:55 [SPEAKER_02]: It's early like to how Marek was using that.
36:56 --> 36:59 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that was, that was a great scene with the, with the temple.
37:00 --> 37:02 [SPEAKER_05]: It's the order 66 battle.
37:03 --> 37:07 [SPEAKER_05]: So, it's, it's pretty devastating.
37:08 --> 37:09 [SPEAKER_05]: Pretty devastating.
37:10 --> 37:13 [SPEAKER_02]: easing else you guys got before we get into the, uh, the lorebum?
37:14 --> 37:16 [SPEAKER_01]: No, let me just get my coffee.
37:17 --> 37:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
37:18 --> 37:19 [SPEAKER_01]: It gets some calf.
37:19 --> 37:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm getting comfortable.
37:20 --> 37:21 [SPEAKER_02]: Let me get comfortable.
37:21 --> 37:21 [SPEAKER_02]: Right.
37:21 --> 37:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Get your notes out.
37:23 --> 37:24 [SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
37:24 --> 37:25 [SPEAKER_02]: Okay, here we go.
37:26 --> 37:28 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, lorebomb time.
37:28 --> 37:33 [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, the reason the person triggering this, the character triggering this is Mark.
37:33 --> 37:36 [SPEAKER_00]: And this is his description from Star Wars.com.
37:37 --> 37:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Mark was originally created by Dave Filoni for the first season of Asoka, in which he meets his end.
37:42 --> 37:46 [SPEAKER_00]: He later showed up in the Star Wars tales of the Empire episode devoted.
37:46 --> 37:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Mall Shadowlord spends more time with
37:53 --> 37:57 [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm wondering how much we're supposed to read into this rath, like aspect.
37:57 --> 38:07 [SPEAKER_00]: Indeed, the first time we saw this character was on the TV show with Soka, which is set 26 years after the events of Malshada Lord in nine ABY.
38:07 --> 38:10 [SPEAKER_00]: From the moment we saw him in the promotional material, there was so much
38:10 --> 38:34 [SPEAKER_00]: speculation about this character and the fact that he was obviously looks like an inquisitor but he was working for a night sister who granted Morgan Elzbeth is an imperial night sister but still and then poof literally in a cloud of green smoke all of that has gone so I think since been going back and filling in more of his backstory so the earliest
38:34 --> 38:50 [SPEAKER_00]: points we know in his timeline so far comes from tales of the Empire, the animated series, the episode devoted, which is set during and just after the Jedi Purge of Order 66, so 19 BBY, so about two years before Shadow Lord.
38:50 --> 38:57 [SPEAKER_00]: And this was the episode where Barris Offie, who was imprisoned by the Jedi, she was on trial for being a traitor to the Jedi.
38:58 --> 39:01 [SPEAKER_00]: She is set free during the
39:01 --> 39:05 [SPEAKER_00]: And she is invited to join the inquisitors, which she does.
39:05 --> 39:14 [SPEAKER_00]: And we see Mark briefly at the end with her and a couple of others swearing their allegiance to the grand inquisitors boss Darth Vader.
39:15 --> 39:21 [SPEAKER_00]: Now, we also learn from seeing him in this episode that he seems to also have a talent for psychiatry.
39:21 --> 39:31 [SPEAKER_00]: This is a skill that's coming up more and more in recent Star Wars storytelling where they can get senses or echoes of events just by touching things.
39:31 --> 39:33 [SPEAKER_00]: So he's one of the inquisitors.
39:33 --> 39:34 [SPEAKER_00]: He is first, brother.
39:34 --> 39:45 [SPEAKER_00]: And in legends, the inquisitors were also dark-side-force sensitives, but they were more modeled directly after the Spanish inquisition and the way they looked and the way they operated was more like that.
39:46 --> 39:50 [SPEAKER_00]: This version of the inquisitors, the canon version, was introduced in rebels.
39:50 --> 39:56 [SPEAKER_00]: And they are from Sidious's inquisitorious program still, where
39:56 --> 40:04 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, city is his plan was to recruit four sensitives, mostly former Jedi, to gather and eliminate other four sensitives.
40:05 --> 40:07 [SPEAKER_00]: So they are called the red blades.
40:08 --> 40:21 [SPEAKER_00]: You can see why they have these spinning light sabers and that is also to give them an advantage because often they are facing off against Jedi masters, although they were not Jedi masters themselves.
40:22 --> 40:26 [SPEAKER_00]: So this is a bit more like using
40:26 --> 40:27 [SPEAKER_00]: instead of a rifle.
40:27 --> 40:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Although it was used, I have to call out to infamous effect to fly in a helicopter style in rebels.
40:34 --> 40:37 [SPEAKER_00]: I still, that makes me laugh at the light, but I understand why people hated anyway.
40:38 --> 40:47 [SPEAKER_00]: So they tracked down the Jedi who escaped, which would be why they would be after obviously Devon and her master.
40:47 --> 40:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Their other function is to be part of what's called project
40:51 --> 40:55 [SPEAKER_00]: harvester, which is gathering young force sensitives for imperial training.
40:55 --> 40:58 [SPEAKER_00]: So children with force sensitivity, they get to them.
40:58 --> 41:02 [SPEAKER_00]: And meanwhile, there is a group, the hidden path.
41:03 --> 41:08 [SPEAKER_00]: They are trying to collect the force sensitive children and smuggle them to safety.
41:08 --> 41:10 [SPEAKER_00]: So the question arises,
41:10 --> 41:14 [SPEAKER_00]: You know, whenever inquisitor show up, will they also, will the path show up?
41:14 --> 41:19 [SPEAKER_00]: Will Devin try to use the path for example?
41:19 --> 41:28 [SPEAKER_00]: This could be what the path is, more could be the topic of a future lore bomb, depending on which way this season goes, but it's sort of like an underground railroad for Jedi.
41:28 --> 41:39 [SPEAKER_00]: And, I should note, it is where we last saw Ventress from Tales of the Underworld, although we're not sure where those episodes are set before or after Shadowlord.
41:39 --> 41:40 [SPEAKER_00]: Intrance Watch.
41:40 --> 41:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, they headquarters of the inquisitors is the fortress in Quisitorious, which is an underwater fortress on the saltwater moon of Nure, in the most of our system of the outer rims, so they are not far from Vader's lava stronghold.
41:53 --> 42:04 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, if you played fallen order, then you have explored the fortress inquisitorious, it's also shown in tales of the empire and the Obi-Wan Kenobi show.
42:05 --> 42:18 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, at this point in the timeline, technically it's not yet the main headquarters of the inquisitors, but it will be a few years from now and considering that fact only comes from books and comics, I wouldn't be surprised if they ignored that.
42:18 --> 42:21 [SPEAKER_00]: And just said it's the headquarters now.
42:22 --> 42:38 [SPEAKER_00]: So the head of the inquisitors is the grand inquisitor and you get to see a lot of him in the Vader comics and tales of the empire in the book, Inquisitor, Rise of the Red Blade, which has a lot of inquisitor lore in it in the game following it.
42:38 --> 42:47 [SPEAKER_00]: In the show, Obi-Wan Kenobi and the grand inquisitor dies in rebels 13 years after Shadowlord in the timeline.
42:47 --> 42:49 [SPEAKER_00]: So he's still alive and well at this point.
42:50 --> 42:54 [SPEAKER_00]: And the other inquisitors are, there's first brother is Mark.
42:54 --> 42:56 [SPEAKER_00]: So that's we see in the show now.
42:56 --> 42:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Second sister was Trilla Suduri.
42:59 --> 43:03 [SPEAKER_00]: This is, you get experienced her full story during Fallen Order.
43:03 --> 43:05 [SPEAKER_00]: So I won't say anything more about that.
43:05 --> 43:12 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, if you haven't played that game, I keep bringing up because like they keep making it relevant to this show, but it's also just an incredible game.
43:13 --> 43:18 [SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, third brother, we know nothing about him other than he exists or exists did.
43:18 --> 43:20 [SPEAKER_00]: We don't really know where he fits in the timeline.
43:20 --> 43:22 [SPEAKER_00]: He just mostly shun up in reference books.
43:22 --> 43:31 [SPEAKER_00]: But we have also had a third sister, Riva Sivander, who was, uh, her story is told in the Obi-Wan Kenobi show.
43:32 --> 43:32 [SPEAKER_00]: So,
43:32 --> 43:36 [SPEAKER_00]: That begs the question, did third brother previously live in dying?
43:37 --> 43:38 [SPEAKER_00]: Was replaced by third sister?
43:38 --> 43:41 [SPEAKER_00]: Or, yeah, how does this work?
43:41 --> 43:52 [SPEAKER_00]: I would guess it makes sense if one dies there replaced and that would explain why Baris office warden at the same time as a first brother and 11th brother.
43:52 --> 43:53 [SPEAKER_00]: So
43:53 --> 43:55 [SPEAKER_00]: So let's see if they play more with that.
43:55 --> 43:58 [SPEAKER_00]: Now we have a fourth sister, is Lynn Rakash.
43:59 --> 44:00 [SPEAKER_00]: She was a former Jedi recruit.
44:00 --> 44:05 [SPEAKER_00]: She's the one who recruited Baris Offie in that tells of the empire episode.
44:06 --> 44:08 [SPEAKER_00]: And she also appeared in Obi-Wan Kenobi.
44:08 --> 44:13 [SPEAKER_00]: And Baris Offie later helps her find her way back to the light.
44:13 --> 44:17 [SPEAKER_00]: I'll just say that in the tell to the empire episode.
44:17 --> 44:25 [SPEAKER_00]: There's fifth brother who was seen in the Darth Vader and Inquisitors comics and the Rise of the Red Blade book and the Obi-Wan series and Rebels.
44:25 --> 44:27 [SPEAKER_00]: These are the places where Inquisitors are most like good to show up.
44:28 --> 44:41 [SPEAKER_00]: The name and species of fifth brother is unknown but he's sort of like a Frankenstein dragon like looking guy and he is ultimately killed by mall in Rebels 14 years after this.
44:41 --> 45:01 [SPEAKER_00]: Six Brother is named Bill Veilin and also in Rise of the Red Blade Vader comics and this in the Asoka novel, this is who she kills to and she takes his Kyber crystals and purifies them to make her new white lightsabers.
45:01 --> 45:05 [SPEAKER_00]: So in the Asoka novel, six brothers who Asoka gets them from.
45:05 --> 45:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Uh, next seventh sister is a Muriel and like Barris Offie.
45:09 --> 45:11 [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know her name though.
45:11 --> 45:21 [SPEAKER_00]: She is in the books in the comics and she, uh, tried to take over in rebels when the grand inquisitor was killed, but then she is also killed by Mal.
45:21 --> 45:28 [SPEAKER_00]: Eighth brother, also in the books and comics, he was also part of this attempted, failed assault on Mall.
45:29 --> 45:33 [SPEAKER_00]: He's a, to really in Django Jumpers by species, and he's not killed by Mall.
45:34 --> 45:38 [SPEAKER_00]: He just makes a big wolf season and falls to his death when trying to escape Mall.
45:38 --> 45:50 [SPEAKER_00]: 9th sister is Missana Tide, a doleton, and if you've played the Jedi games, fallen order and survivor, she might haunt your dreams, but spoilers for that game.
45:50 --> 45:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Cal Kestis will kill her eight years from now.
45:53 --> 45:56 [SPEAKER_00]: 10th brother is prosat dibs.
45:56 --> 45:59 [SPEAKER_00]: This is Amira Luka, so he has no eyes.
46:00 --> 46:01 [SPEAKER_00]: He sees through the force.
46:02 --> 46:20 [SPEAKER_00]: I did, I think I did a lore bomb about this during Endor, but anyway, he's in rise of the red blade and the Mace Windu and the Vader comics, and he is actually dead by the time of the Shadowlord series killed by clone troopers, so we could see a 10th somebody replacing him.
46:20 --> 46:25 [SPEAKER_00]: Now, 11th brother, we do expect to show up in this show, just based on promotional materials.
46:26 --> 46:29 [SPEAKER_00]: He's the one with the bird-like skull mask, fittingly called the crow.
46:30 --> 46:43 [SPEAKER_00]: He was also at Baris' office in Dr. Nation, and in the TV version animated series version tells of the Jedi of Ahsoka's story, that is the one who she kills.
46:43 --> 47:09 [SPEAKER_00]: and gets the cyber crystals from the cheap purifies to make her blades so we just this is to me the most annoying retcon is that they wrote this kind of mid episode over the excellent Asoka book um yeah i'm still that's the thing i'm most upset about in Star Wars and i guess if that's what i'm complaining about it's most then uh things are okay
47:09 --> 47:21 [SPEAKER_00]: Now we don't know who the 12th somebody is maybe that's Baris Alfie because we don't know what her number was, so so she must have been 12th then 12th sister We do know 13th sister.
47:21 --> 47:24 [SPEAKER_00]: We in many ways know the most about her.
47:24 --> 47:36 [SPEAKER_00]: She her name is is caught a carus and she was in she was introduced in Charles Souls Vader series of comics and
47:36 --> 47:39 [SPEAKER_00]: She is the star of Inquisitor Rise of the Red Blade.
47:40 --> 47:46 [SPEAKER_00]: It is all about her journey from Jedi to Inquisitor and how her story ends.
47:46 --> 47:48 [SPEAKER_00]: I won't spoil it for you in case you want to read that book.
47:48 --> 47:50 [SPEAKER_00]: It is actually quite a good book.
47:50 --> 47:54 [SPEAKER_00]: It seems to be one that always gets high reviews across the board.
47:55 --> 47:59 [SPEAKER_00]: So, okay, those are the inquisitors as we know them.
48:00 --> 48:06 [SPEAKER_00]: We think probably only Mara can 11th brother will show up, but most of them could.
48:06 --> 48:11 [SPEAKER_00]: The question is, who was Mark calling at the end of episode six?
48:11 --> 48:18 [SPEAKER_00]: Originally, we know from the Star Wars.com trivia that it was going to be the grand inquisitors, that means that's not who he did call.
48:18 --> 48:20 [SPEAKER_00]: It looks like we saw a part of a hood.
48:20 --> 48:26 [SPEAKER_00]: It feels unlikely that he would be calling Palpatine directly, but it could be Vader.
48:27 --> 48:27 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
48:27 --> 48:28 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you think it's possible?
48:28 --> 48:29 [SPEAKER_00]: It's anyone else?
48:32 --> 48:33 [SPEAKER_03]: Damn.
48:36 --> 48:42 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you're saying recording off some notes, but like most of that knowledge is just up in her head.
48:44 --> 48:44 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
48:44 --> 48:46 [SPEAKER_02]: That's just, that she knows.
48:47 --> 48:47 [SPEAKER_02]: Amazing.
48:48 --> 48:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Thank you, Alicia, for like, I'm just getting so much like just how incredibly in depth this history of this world is, it's pretty wild.
48:56 --> 48:58 [SPEAKER_02]: So it is wild.
48:58 --> 48:59 [SPEAKER_02]: All right.
48:59 --> 48:59 [UNKNOWN]: So.
49:00 --> 49:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's take a quick break, and then we come back, we'll pick up Episode 6, and then we'll, we definitely have to talk about that question that Alicia has left with us.
49:20 --> 49:23 [SPEAKER_02]: And we're back chapter six, Night of the Hunted.
49:23 --> 49:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Ducky explains to Losson that he and Devin have survived a purge of the Jedi Order and must avoid the Empire to stay alive.
49:32 --> 49:36 [SPEAKER_02]: Merak arrives at Losson's apartment in Dool's Ducky and Devin.
49:36 --> 49:43 [SPEAKER_02]: The pair managed to steal an Imperial gunship in a scapegoat, Lawson and Riley, they're chased through the city by other gunships and shot down.
49:43 --> 49:47 [SPEAKER_02]: Mall confirmed that Devon is still in the city and plans to intervene.
49:47 --> 49:53 [SPEAKER_02]: He tells Vario that the deal is concluded and that Vario is free to leave and take his chances with the empire.
49:54 --> 49:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Vario chooses to remain with Mall.
49:56 --> 50:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Lawson takes Riley, Daki, and Devon to meet soul, a former bounty hunter who saved Lawson in a past mission.
50:04 --> 50:11 [SPEAKER_02]: He asks her for help escaping the planet, but the empire assumed arrives at soul's casino.
50:12 --> 50:17 [SPEAKER_02]: Lawson and Daki hold off storm troopers, while Devon and Riley escape to a train platform.
50:18 --> 50:22 [SPEAKER_02]: They're pursued by Mac, who doles with Devon on the train,
50:22 --> 50:27 [SPEAKER_02]: Mall comes to their aid helping Devon Ovenpower Mark until they're able to get away from him.
50:27 --> 50:34 [SPEAKER_02]: Mark contacts his master to confirm Mall's presence and that of the Jedi.
50:35 --> 50:50 [SPEAKER_02]: John, this episode gave us not character development per se with Mall, but that
50:52 --> 50:58 [SPEAKER_02]: was just such a wonderful thing to see in the Star Wars storyline.
50:58 --> 51:15 [SPEAKER_02]: We've seen a soka, I think, do some practicing, but to see this, to see a dark side user and just his calmness and his frenety throughout that practice, visually it was just stunning.
51:16 --> 51:20 [SPEAKER_02]: I assume you have similar feelings and vibes as I do.
51:20 --> 51:50 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes, because as I watched it, the first thing I thought of was a soap, right, and having these two, you know, light, dark, but these two characters who, for the most part, you don't get to see force users practice, solo, like they're always, you know, in our experience
51:50 --> 51:55 [SPEAKER_01]: you the ways of the force, right?
51:56 --> 52:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Here we have, you know, a formative, a dark, a dark force user just practicing his dances, his strengths, just feeling the force.
52:09 --> 52:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
52:11 --> 52:15 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, feeling
52:15 --> 52:18 [SPEAKER_01]: that was really cool to watch.
52:19 --> 52:29 [SPEAKER_01]: It was really cool to watch because you have to there are two sides of this thing that we're all so enamored by when we were children, right?
52:29 --> 52:32 [SPEAKER_01]: At least for me, there are two sides of it, right?
52:33 --> 52:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Two sides that you have to master in order to be who you want to be.
52:41 --> 52:46 [SPEAKER_01]: at the end of the day within this universe, within this galaxy, within these stories.
52:47 --> 52:49 [SPEAKER_01]: We hardly ever get to see that.
52:50 --> 52:56 [SPEAKER_01]: But to see it from his perspective, that was, the chef's kiss.
52:56 --> 52:57 [SPEAKER_01]: That was great.
52:57 --> 52:58 [SPEAKER_01]: That was great.
52:59 --> 53:04 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if either of you have practice martial arts at all, Brian, or is on?
53:04 --> 53:04 [SPEAKER_05]: No.
53:04 --> 53:06 [SPEAKER_02]: And how important?
53:07 --> 53:14 [SPEAKER_02]: So different martial arts traditions and what different countries and languages they, you know, they're...
53:14 --> 53:15 [SPEAKER_02]: different names for them.
53:16 --> 53:24 [SPEAKER_02]: But I think the English generally, you know, in English language, we might say Katta, which is, I had believed Japanese and related to karate, or forms.
53:25 --> 53:31 [SPEAKER_02]: And it's a set pattern of movements that you do, and you learn more and more of them as you progress.
53:31 --> 53:32 [SPEAKER_02]: They get more and more complicated.
53:32 --> 53:36 [SPEAKER_02]: Sometimes they involve weapons as part of the movements.
53:37 --> 53:42 [SPEAKER_02]: But it really is the fundamentals of you practicing all of the different kinds of strikes and blocks.
53:42 --> 53:44 [SPEAKER_02]: into this flowing mindset.
53:44 --> 53:50 [SPEAKER_02]: And it really is part of your physical, not only conditioning, but mental training.
53:51 --> 53:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, to breathe and to remember to do things.
53:54 --> 53:55 [SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, it's a set pattern.
53:56 --> 53:59 [SPEAKER_02]: But that's how you get in touch with the flowingness.
54:00 --> 54:05 [SPEAKER_02]: Because if you're just striking and kicking in a repetitive motion, it doesn't bring it all together.
54:05 --> 54:09 [SPEAKER_02]: And it's by bringing it all
54:09 --> 54:13 [SPEAKER_02]: that really sets it into your body and sets it into your mind.
54:13 --> 54:18 [SPEAKER_02]: And there's a great scene in one battle after another where what's her name?
54:18 --> 54:27 [SPEAKER_02]: You know, I forget the kids name, but she's practicing a form and my embrace is so fried.
54:27 --> 54:32 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm trying to think of Sensei, that actor...
54:32 --> 54:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Anybody who'll go through?
54:34 --> 54:42 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's, thank you, Brittany Sheryl Toro, says to her, like, you know, breathe, you know, you're not breathing and then she starts breathing as she's doing and it's just like, oh man, it's so good.
54:43 --> 55:02 [SPEAKER_02]: So to see mall centering, because right right around mall right now is a lot of swirl, there's dissension in the ranks, the empires here, he knows that he probably is betting pretty, you know, pretty assuredly that he's going to be
55:03 --> 55:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Complexity swirling around him and he needs to, he's going to face off with an inquisitor.
55:08 --> 55:20 [SPEAKER_02]: He's got to be centered and so he uses his martial practice to center himself mentally and spiritually and ground himself so that he can hold all this together.
55:20 --> 55:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Brian, thoughts on this scene?
55:23 --> 55:28 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it just shows you how the
55:28 --> 55:33 [SPEAKER_05]: The force, you know, even the dark and the light, they're all rooted in the force.
55:34 --> 55:44 [SPEAKER_05]: Both sides of that coin is rooted into that kind of same similar discipline of forms and breathing.
55:44 --> 55:54 [SPEAKER_05]: and it's just the same, it's just how you take those advanced skills that Jedi and Sith both learn and how they do channel that, right?
55:54 --> 56:04 [SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, like the both you were saying, it's really interesting to see that how similar the Sith and Jedi are.
56:04 --> 56:06 [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, right?
56:06 --> 56:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, very much.
56:08 --> 56:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, absolutely.
56:09 --> 56:10 [SPEAKER_02]: Very cool.
56:11 --> 56:22 [SPEAKER_02]: So, let's talk a little bit about the Devon Riley Hiko Diodak Kihin and Lawson Conversation.
56:23 --> 56:26 [SPEAKER_02]: And I just love what Lawson says to, you could do it.
56:26 --> 56:26 [SPEAKER_02]: I could do it.
56:26 --> 56:27 [SPEAKER_02]: I could do it.
56:27 --> 56:31 [SPEAKER_02]: There's nothing simple about what you just do to the other.
56:31 --> 56:33 [SPEAKER_02]: Motherfucker, you just drop my language.
56:33 --> 56:34 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't swear much of the podcast.
56:35 --> 56:38 [SPEAKER_02]: But I could just feel Lawson's dread.
56:38 --> 56:46 [SPEAKER_02]: And just like, what are you telling me that they're like, and you're being hunted because of the end you're showing up on my doorstep?
56:46 --> 56:57 [SPEAKER_02]: We're like, where my kid sleeps, like, yeah, and he goes, and Ed is like, well, we're going to be, you know, they're probably going to do the same thing to us as they're going to do to you.
56:57 --> 57:04 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, my dude, it doesn't make it any better, but you did it.
57:04 --> 57:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
57:06 --> 57:07 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
57:07 --> 57:08 [SPEAKER_02]: Brian thoughts.
57:08 --> 57:16 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's, it's, you know, and being a former bounty hunter, he gets it right.
57:17 --> 57:17 [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
57:17 --> 57:18 [SPEAKER_00]: He gets the danger.
57:19 --> 57:20 [SPEAKER_05]: He's face the danger.
57:20 --> 57:20 [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
57:21 --> 57:24 [SPEAKER_05]: And he left that behind for a stable job.
57:24 --> 57:25 [SPEAKER_05]: He has a kid.
57:25 --> 57:28 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, this is not what I signed up for.
57:28 --> 57:30 [SPEAKER_05]: And you are,
57:30 --> 57:34 [SPEAKER_05]: bringing everything that I left behind back into my life.
57:35 --> 57:40 [SPEAKER_05]: And now I have more to lose than I just had before wandering around space.
57:41 --> 57:43 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so frustrating.
57:43 --> 57:44 [SPEAKER_01]: You feel so frustrating.
57:44 --> 57:45 [SPEAKER_01]: That's great.
57:45 --> 57:46 [SPEAKER_01]: That's the way you just read.
57:47 --> 57:47 [SPEAKER_01]: That's so frustrating.
57:48 --> 57:50 [SPEAKER_01]: And in that moment, I'm watching him.
57:50 --> 57:51 [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm watching Ducky.
57:52 --> 57:53 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm like Ducky.
57:56 --> 57:58 [SPEAKER_02]: You're trying to be all chill and wise.
57:59 --> 57:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
58:00 --> 58:00 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
58:00 --> 58:00 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
58:00 --> 58:01 [SPEAKER_02]: No.
58:01 --> 58:01 [SPEAKER_01]: No.
58:02 --> 58:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you just have to say, I'm sorry.
58:05 --> 58:06 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
58:06 --> 58:07 [SPEAKER_01]: I did this too.
58:07 --> 58:07 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
58:07 --> 58:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
58:08 --> 58:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm sorry.
58:09 --> 58:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I did this too.
58:10 --> 58:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
58:10 --> 58:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Where's the apology?
58:11 --> 58:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
58:13 --> 58:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
58:14 --> 58:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Come on.
58:16 --> 58:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Come on.
58:18 --> 58:24 [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, Brian, you have a note in here, too, about the teens hanging out.
58:24 --> 58:26 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what point out you about the scene?
58:27 --> 58:30 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that was great with Devon and Riley.
58:30 --> 58:34 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, go to your room, you know, both of you.
58:34 --> 58:35 [SPEAKER_05]: And there they are.
58:35 --> 58:40 [SPEAKER_05]: They're just, you've got this moment where there's just two teens hanging out.
58:41 --> 58:42 [SPEAKER_05]: And
58:43 --> 58:52 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, there's a lot of backstory with them, but it's like, oh, or there's a little romance going to happen here, you know, the after school special.
58:54 --> 58:55 [SPEAKER_05]: I don't think so.
58:56 --> 58:56 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
58:56 --> 58:58 [SPEAKER_05]: And then we have the chaos.
58:58 --> 59:06 [SPEAKER_05]: The usual chaos in Star Wars is like, well, okay, let's just put a pin on that because it's not going to happen for a while, maybe I would all.
59:06 --> 59:17 [SPEAKER_05]: But it was just great to see, you know, you really, I think, you know, in that scene, you really see Devon as, you know, more vulnerable.
59:17 --> 59:27 [SPEAKER_05]: And it's like, oh, yeah, you know, she I couldn't quite figure out a new shoes young, but I was wondering how young, you know, it's then when they were together.
59:27 --> 59:29 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, oh, yeah, you know, probably she made it.
59:29 --> 59:31 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, about the same age.
59:31 --> 59:32 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that was a great scene.
59:33 --> 59:37 [SPEAKER_02]: And for me, what it worked the way it worked was.
59:37 --> 59:44 [SPEAKER_02]: It sets up the difference between a Jedi, Patawan, and a regular kid.
59:44 --> 01:00:01 [SPEAKER_02]: And then when we actually get into the fighting, so we've been de-sensitized to a lot of violence and stuff our wars across rebels, across bad batch, across, what was the other enemy series?
01:00:01 --> 01:00:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Man, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I
01:00:06 --> 01:00:23 [SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, using your saber to knock laser bolts aside and, you know, jumping into fighters and cruising around, having a good old time, right, it's pretty mundane for those of us who, you know, for people who watch a lot of this content.
01:00:23 --> 01:00:25 [SPEAKER_02]: But then you put it in a regular couple of civilians.
01:00:26 --> 01:00:30 [SPEAKER_02]: One guy, yeah, maybe the dead loss and seen a little bit of action, but Riley is not seeing me this.
01:00:31 --> 01:00:43 [SPEAKER_02]: And just how freaking insane it is to be able to use the force to have blasters being shot at you, to have hundreds of troops mobbing you,
01:00:43 --> 01:00:52 [SPEAKER_02]: And so this quiet little chat between this awkward chat between a couple of teens and she's just like, yeah, my upbringing was a little different than yours.
01:00:52 --> 01:00:53 [SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, well, you're not from around here.
01:00:53 --> 01:00:55 [SPEAKER_02]: You don't know what butterkin is, right?
01:00:55 --> 01:00:56 [SPEAKER_02]: You know, my room's messy.
01:00:56 --> 01:00:57 [SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
01:00:57 --> 01:00:59 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to clean up a little bit.
01:00:59 --> 01:01:06 [SPEAKER_02]: And then yo, there's a dude with a red saber hunting you in the bowels of the city.
01:01:06 --> 01:01:08 [SPEAKER_02]: And this is not normal, right?
01:01:08 --> 01:01:13 [SPEAKER_02]: And so that for me, that this conversation sets out for
01:01:13 --> 01:01:19 [SPEAKER_02]: the stakes to make us really feel what it would be like to encounter a force user.
01:01:20 --> 01:01:21 [SPEAKER_02]: Because most people don't.
01:01:22 --> 01:01:23 [SPEAKER_02]: You're never going to run into a suit.
01:01:23 --> 01:01:27 [SPEAKER_02]: You're never going to run into a jet eye, except in extreme circumstances.
01:01:28 --> 01:01:40 [SPEAKER_02]: And even then, if you ran into a jet eye, the likelihood of you seeing them use their powers or igniting their lightsaber, very, very low chance.
01:01:40 --> 01:01:41 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
01:01:41 --> 01:01:48 [SPEAKER_02]: So suddenly to encounter this after you're like, what it's going on, right?
01:01:48 --> 01:01:53 [SPEAKER_02]: So I thought that this was a perfectly little scene to like really ratchet up that tension.
01:01:53 --> 01:01:58 [SPEAKER_02]: And then I love the fact that they don't mess around.
01:01:58 --> 01:02:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Mark, it's just gonna jam me and say for a few that don't work that way.
01:02:03 --> 01:02:05 [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I'm here about it like us, right?
01:02:05 --> 01:02:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Like, I tracked you, yeah, that was the whole point.
01:02:09 --> 01:02:12 [SPEAKER_02]: I knew that these guys would be coming to you.
01:02:12 --> 01:02:17 [SPEAKER_02]: I, and all of this is going according to my plan.
01:02:17 --> 01:02:17 [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.
01:02:17 --> 01:02:18 [SPEAKER_05]: Exactly.
01:02:18 --> 01:02:26 [SPEAKER_02]: I just wanted to just give you, this, I don't know for me, but for this was like Rogue One Vater vibes, right, at the end of Rogue One.
01:02:26 --> 01:02:41 [SPEAKER_01]: It didn't hit that quite that hard, but it just goes to show you, like, for the most part, the Sith are really, throughout Star Wars properties.
01:02:42 --> 01:02:43 [SPEAKER_01]: They're really thinking.
01:02:45 --> 01:02:46 [SPEAKER_01]: They're really plotting.
01:02:47 --> 01:02:49 [SPEAKER_01]: and the Jedi are reacting.
01:02:49 --> 01:02:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Right, foot of most part.
01:02:51 --> 01:02:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Right, right, right, foot of most part.
01:02:54 --> 01:03:05 [SPEAKER_02]: That's when you, if you lost that momentum, you're, you're, you're going to, more than likely you're going to start to lose the strategic problem.
01:03:05 --> 01:03:08 [SPEAKER_01]: But I would say even going back to Clone Wars.
01:03:11 --> 01:03:17 [SPEAKER_01]: The Sith were thinking three, four, five steps ahead.
01:03:17 --> 01:03:30 [SPEAKER_01]: And it was so clear watching that scene because Doc he did the one thing that my hook, was like, I know what you're going to do.
01:03:32 --> 01:03:33 [SPEAKER_01]: I knew what you're going to do, bro.
01:03:33 --> 01:03:37 [SPEAKER_02]: Right, is I already saw that evidence of the lightsaber battles.
01:03:38 --> 01:03:40 [SPEAKER_02]: So I know that there are other force users around here.
01:03:40 --> 01:03:42 [SPEAKER_01]: I know what, I know what you're going.
01:03:43 --> 01:03:45 [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm going to be right here.
01:03:46 --> 01:03:56 [SPEAKER_01]: And that's the difference between these two opposing sides, these two sides.
01:03:56 --> 01:03:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
01:03:57 --> 01:04:03 [SPEAKER_01]: The Sith have always been the thinkers.
01:04:04 --> 01:04:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Not just brute force, because it is about brute force as well.
01:04:08 --> 01:04:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Don't get me wrong.
01:04:09 --> 01:04:13 [SPEAKER_01]: But they've always thought about how
01:04:14 --> 01:04:25 [SPEAKER_01]: we're going to entrap how we're going to make these changes and what we need to do, the steps that we need to cover in order to get the results that we want.
01:04:25 --> 01:04:31 [SPEAKER_01]: And for the most of our Star Wars journey, the Jedi have not been able to do that.
01:04:32 --> 01:04:35 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, the Sith operates in the shadows.
01:04:36 --> 01:04:40 [SPEAKER_05]: So you need more strategy thinking to operate.
01:04:40 --> 01:04:42 [SPEAKER_05]: Right, the Jedi is in it, so yeah.
01:04:42 --> 01:04:43 [SPEAKER_01]: It's my necessity.
01:04:44 --> 01:04:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, my necessity, they don't have the numbers.
01:04:46 --> 01:04:56 [SPEAKER_02]: And they're looking for leverage points to get a fine to precise point where things are weak or where they can use a lever to force something.
01:04:57 --> 01:04:57 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
01:04:57 --> 01:05:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I thought that was a great, great display of that, the differences between the two size that we've watched for so many years.
01:05:09 --> 01:05:12 [SPEAKER_02]: And just this one little 15 seconds.
01:05:13 --> 01:05:16 [SPEAKER_02]: And then we get into this chase scene, right?
01:05:16 --> 01:05:27 [SPEAKER_02]: The initial chase where they get shot out of the sky because, yeah, like, you start fighting troopers and the call goes out, they're gonna throw resources at you.
01:05:27 --> 01:05:35 [SPEAKER_02]: The fact that you think you're gonna get away in this circumstance, like, no, man, like you're in big, big trouble.
01:05:35 --> 01:05:43 [SPEAKER_02]: And so the pacing of the, I love the whole pace of the escape
01:05:44 --> 01:05:53 [SPEAKER_02]: We get these stakes, and then we get to school, and then we have that little respite, just a very short respite, before we get into the battle.
01:05:53 --> 01:05:58 [SPEAKER_02]: And so the pacing of episode six, I thought was just perfect, like it felt really good.
01:05:58 --> 01:06:09 [SPEAKER_02]: They didn't mess around and go, oh, look, you know, like that, no, they just, the triggers were there for the dramatic tension to keep ratcheting,
01:06:09 --> 01:06:12 [SPEAKER_02]: up and it was just really, really well directed.
01:06:12 --> 01:06:14 [SPEAKER_02]: And I don't know.
01:06:14 --> 01:06:18 [SPEAKER_02]: Do we know what happened to soul at the end of this?
01:06:18 --> 01:06:20 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't I don't have a mind where soul is.
01:06:21 --> 01:06:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, they didn't.
01:06:23 --> 01:06:25 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but she was ready to rock man.
01:06:26 --> 01:06:33 [SPEAKER_02]: She was like, yeah, a moment that trooper was not buying her story.
01:06:32 --> 01:06:33 [SPEAKER_01]: We go.
01:06:34 --> 01:06:40 [SPEAKER_02]: We're going to do this and I'm out and lost it even was like, oh well, you know what we get.
01:06:40 --> 01:06:43 [SPEAKER_02]: She says be prepared to run and he's just like be prepared to run.
01:06:45 --> 01:06:51 [SPEAKER_02]: No illusions about the fact that they were going to get it was going to get messy really fast.
01:06:51 --> 01:06:58 [SPEAKER_02]: So I really appreciate that sensibility that they're giving the characters that they're not messing around with stuff.
01:06:58 --> 01:06:59 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:06:59 --> 01:07:03 [SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, go ahead.
01:07:03 --> 01:07:09 [SPEAKER_01]: No, what I also found interesting, as we, you know, get into the scenes that we all want to get into.
01:07:10 --> 01:07:11 [SPEAKER_01]: That's all.
01:07:12 --> 01:07:17 [SPEAKER_01]: The, just the fact that Riley has no skills.
01:07:18 --> 01:07:18 [SPEAKER_01]: None.
01:07:19 --> 01:07:20 [SPEAKER_01]: No, he has no skills.
01:07:20 --> 01:07:21 [SPEAKER_01]: He has no skills.
01:07:22 --> 01:07:23 [SPEAKER_01]: So,
01:07:23 --> 01:07:33 [SPEAKER_01]: This is a father who has a checkered pass, has done some things and has said to himself, you know what?
01:07:34 --> 01:07:38 [SPEAKER_01]: I don't want my kid to be the way that I was.
01:07:39 --> 01:07:41 [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm going to move to this
01:07:42 --> 01:07:58 [SPEAKER_01]: far away place, hope that nobody ever comes into contact with me from my past, that my path doesn't catch up with me, that I can be something else, do something else, and give this kid a different life than what I had.
01:07:59 --> 01:08:08 [SPEAKER_01]: And didn't prepare him for the eventualities that life could direct.
01:08:09 --> 01:08:11 [SPEAKER_01]: because he's wholly unprepared.
01:08:12 --> 01:08:15 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and his mama's part of the empire, right?
01:08:15 --> 01:08:18 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, it's like, yeah, it's like, yeah, about seasons.
01:08:19 --> 01:08:20 [SPEAKER_05]: That's the imperpareas son.
01:08:21 --> 01:08:23 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, you're not going to pay.
01:08:24 --> 01:08:26 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, here's the secret network of contacts.
01:08:26 --> 01:08:28 [SPEAKER_02]: It'll somehow use a blaster.
01:08:28 --> 01:08:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
01:08:29 --> 01:08:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right?
01:08:31 --> 01:08:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
01:08:31 --> 01:08:32 [SPEAKER_01]: This is your blaster.
01:08:32 --> 01:08:34 [SPEAKER_01]: This is how you use it.
01:08:34 --> 01:08:36 [SPEAKER_01]: This is how this is your armor.
01:08:36 --> 01:09:01 [SPEAKER_01]: This is how you put it on because one day somebody come might come knocking because that's that was their life But they're trying to get away You know, and we don't know much about his mom yet Right, I can I can definitely feel that loss and it's trying to get away from that doesn't want his son to be part of that and in doing so I think Makes it more dangerous for him
01:09:01 --> 01:09:07 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right because now they're on your ass.
01:09:08 --> 01:09:11 [SPEAKER_01]: And your kid is, I hear, looking like ass.
01:09:13 --> 01:09:17 [SPEAKER_01]: I think he's holding it together as well as he is.
01:09:17 --> 01:09:19 [SPEAKER_01]: I mean, but there's no way for him to go.
01:09:19 --> 01:09:22 [SPEAKER_02]: He's on that tree and they can't break down that.
01:09:22 --> 01:09:27 [SPEAKER_02]: But even before then, right, even before all that, right, just to you on the line in the gunship.
01:09:27 --> 01:09:29 [SPEAKER_02]: Right, but he's not freaking it.
01:09:29 --> 01:09:31 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, he's not losing his damn money.
01:09:31 --> 01:09:32 [SPEAKER_02]: I mean, he questions it down.
01:09:32 --> 01:09:33 [SPEAKER_02]: We don't see the freak out, right?
01:09:33 --> 01:09:34 [SPEAKER_01]: What was that?
01:09:34 --> 01:09:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
01:09:35 --> 01:09:37 [SPEAKER_01]: externally, we don't see him for you now.
01:09:37 --> 01:09:37 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
01:09:38 --> 01:09:39 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, external.
01:09:39 --> 01:09:45 [SPEAKER_01]: We can only imagine what's going on in his with his emotions and his head and all of these things.
01:09:46 --> 01:09:59 [SPEAKER_05]: And I really appreciate that they didn't do some kind of trope that he would like pick up a stick or something like a sports and then like hit a, you know, use his sports skills to knock out a trooper.
01:10:00 --> 01:10:02 [SPEAKER_05]: No, no,
01:10:02 --> 01:10:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:10:03 --> 01:10:04 [SPEAKER_01]: No, he has no skills.
01:10:04 --> 01:10:05 [SPEAKER_01]: He has no skills.
01:10:05 --> 01:10:07 [SPEAKER_01]: He's grown up very privileged.
01:10:08 --> 01:10:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:10:08 --> 01:10:09 [SPEAKER_02]: And the way that Devon has gained.
01:10:10 --> 01:10:11 [SPEAKER_02]: Um, I don't know.
01:10:12 --> 01:10:18 [SPEAKER_02]: I got a little vibes from the escape when they were escaping souls of like the Death Star Escape from 77.
01:10:18 --> 01:10:21 [SPEAKER_02]: Did you pick up on that at all by chance?
01:10:21 --> 01:10:21 [SPEAKER_05]: Uh-oh.
01:10:21 --> 01:10:23 [SPEAKER_02]: There was some sound effects.
01:10:23 --> 01:10:24 [SPEAKER_02]: No, I didn't.
01:10:24 --> 01:10:25 [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah.
01:10:25 --> 01:10:28 [SPEAKER_02]: Looking down, you know, from
01:10:28 --> 01:10:46 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, good call, good call, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
01:10:47 --> 01:10:49 [SPEAKER_02]: inquisitors like walking down the stairs.
01:10:50 --> 01:10:58 [SPEAKER_02]: It's shot in a very, it's directed in a very sort of horror sensibility where the shadow and the red light.
01:10:58 --> 01:10:58 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:10:58 --> 01:10:59 [SPEAKER_02]: And I was just like, yeah.
01:11:00 --> 01:11:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god, you got a paddaw on and an untrained kid facing an inquisitor who is out for blood.
01:11:09 --> 01:11:13 [SPEAKER_02]: Brian, did you, what were you feeling in that moment?
01:11:13 --> 01:11:28 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's, you know, that's where I was being into realize and Alicia's lore bomb was great because I didn't appreciate or that he was a first brother.
01:11:28 --> 01:11:41 [SPEAKER_05]: because this guy has serious skills, serious skills and the way he was just fighting and leading up to that big scene, it's like, you do not mess.
01:11:41 --> 01:11:57 [SPEAKER_05]: This is not, you know, this is someone who's like kind of force sensitive and they just hooked on to the empire to survive and make
01:11:57 --> 01:11:58 [SPEAKER_05]: of inquisitor here.
01:11:59 --> 01:11:59 [SPEAKER_05]: It's great.
01:12:00 --> 01:12:00 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
01:12:00 --> 01:12:01 [SPEAKER_05]: It's very true.
01:12:01 --> 01:12:03 [SPEAKER_02]: I got really nervous.
01:12:04 --> 01:12:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, this is scary.
01:12:07 --> 01:12:08 [SPEAKER_02]: This dude is scary.
01:12:08 --> 01:12:09 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:12:09 --> 01:12:10 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
01:12:10 --> 01:12:10 [SPEAKER_02]: You're a paddle on.
01:12:10 --> 01:12:15 [SPEAKER_02]: And so that said, Devon, he held up.
01:12:15 --> 01:12:17 [SPEAKER_02]: He held up.
01:12:18 --> 01:12:20 [SPEAKER_02]: He held up.
01:12:21 --> 01:12:24 [SPEAKER_02]: He held up.
01:12:24 --> 01:12:26 [SPEAKER_02]: He held up.
01:12:26 --> 01:12:27 [SPEAKER_02]: What does Mall says?
01:12:27 --> 01:12:30 [SPEAKER_02]: She only needs to prove her resilience.
01:12:31 --> 01:12:39 [SPEAKER_02]: And she never gave anything less than everything she had in that entire fight sequence.
01:12:39 --> 01:12:39 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
01:12:40 --> 01:12:41 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:12:41 --> 01:12:43 [SPEAKER_02]: So, what does that say about David?
01:12:43 --> 01:12:44 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm really liking David's character.
01:12:44 --> 01:12:45 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
01:12:45 --> 01:12:45 [SPEAKER_02]: You're John, are you?
01:12:46 --> 01:12:46 [SPEAKER_02]: You're grooving me?
01:12:46 --> 01:12:47 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do.
01:12:47 --> 01:12:58 [SPEAKER_01]: And in that moment, you know, I said I had to put a little respect on Dockey's name, it's just a little bit of respect on his name because he trained her.
01:12:58 --> 01:12:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
01:12:59 --> 01:13:01 [SPEAKER_01]: So, I have to, you don't say, okay.
01:13:02 --> 01:13:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Like he did a good job because...
01:13:05 --> 01:13:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
01:13:09 --> 01:13:10 [SPEAKER_01]: She's going to take care of your son.
01:13:11 --> 01:13:16 [SPEAKER_01]: He was really clearing confident in that.
01:13:16 --> 01:13:18 [SPEAKER_01]: She's going to take good care of him.
01:13:18 --> 01:13:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Don't worry about him.
01:13:18 --> 01:13:19 [SPEAKER_01]: She's got this.
01:13:20 --> 01:13:22 [SPEAKER_01]: But she almost didn't have it.
01:13:23 --> 01:13:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:13:23 --> 01:13:25 [SPEAKER_02]: She only didn't have it.
01:13:25 --> 01:13:29 [SPEAKER_02]: But Dockey was training her, but it's what she has, not what Dockey.
01:13:30 --> 01:13:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes, absolutely.
01:13:31 --> 01:13:32 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's not Dockey.
01:13:32 --> 01:13:33 [SPEAKER_01]: This is her.
01:13:33 --> 01:13:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:13:34 --> 01:13:39 [SPEAKER_01]: But he trained her, so to be able to step up to her potential in this moment.
01:13:40 --> 01:13:40 [SPEAKER_01]: Right?
01:13:41 --> 01:13:46 [SPEAKER_02]: And not show one side of fear when she's getting... Yeah.
01:13:46 --> 01:13:51 [SPEAKER_02]: She's not getting her ass handed to her, but she is not... She is on a defensive fight.
01:13:52 --> 01:13:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she was on the back foot from the jump.
01:13:55 --> 01:13:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:13:55 --> 01:13:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Because you mean, he's the first brother.
01:13:57 --> 01:13:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:13:58 --> 01:13:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:13:58 --> 01:14:02 [SPEAKER_01]: He's a fully trained, force sensitive.
01:14:02 --> 01:14:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:14:02 --> 01:14:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Force user, fully trained.
01:14:05 --> 01:14:19 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, and I couldn't help but think, it's like, wow, she, you know, I wonder if she like trains like wherever they're hiding maybe the two of them are like going through forms together because she's not rusty.
01:14:20 --> 01:14:22 [SPEAKER_05]: No, she didn't arrest him.
01:14:22 --> 01:14:23 [SPEAKER_02]: Really good point.
01:14:24 --> 01:14:26 [SPEAKER_01]: That's a really good point.
01:14:26 --> 01:14:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Which makes the, the, the mall scene, all the more potent, potent.
01:14:31 --> 01:14:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, right.
01:14:32 --> 01:14:37 [SPEAKER_02]: If it gives that relief that yeah, they must be doing training on a regular basis.
01:14:38 --> 01:14:38 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
01:14:38 --> 01:14:39 [SPEAKER_04]: You have to.
01:14:39 --> 01:14:40 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:14:40 --> 01:14:41 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
01:14:41 --> 01:14:41 [SPEAKER_04]: If you want to survive.
01:14:42 --> 01:14:43 [SPEAKER_04]: If you want to survive, you have to.
01:14:44 --> 01:14:46 [SPEAKER_02]: So they did a foreshadowing with it.
01:14:46 --> 01:15:02 [SPEAKER_02]: dream coupling there as they do jumping, they give us a shot and that's a nice little bit so later when she cuts it, it's not a surprise for us, but also, so we know that when Merrick is asking her where is Maul.
01:15:02 --> 01:15:27 [SPEAKER_02]: like we know he's right there right like that's just that's this is this is pulp right he's you know are are are are are our shadow hero is going to be present but apparently I watched the new rock stars video for this one the other day and apparently they broke it down and when there's a scene where they show the train sort of speeding by and there's a cut scene in there there's a little glimpse
01:15:27 --> 01:15:30 [SPEAKER_02]: of ball standing on a platform in the shadows.
01:15:31 --> 01:15:34 [SPEAKER_02]: So it's so quick, it is literally blink and you miss it.
01:15:35 --> 01:15:45 [SPEAKER_02]: But it's in our brains so that when he's there or for pixel peepers, you can go back and you can actually see that, yeah, you know, cause,
01:15:45 --> 01:15:49 [SPEAKER_02]: Uh, spybot was feeding in location information, right?
01:15:49 --> 01:15:50 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, right spot.
01:15:51 --> 01:15:58 [SPEAKER_02]: But they actually actually provided us the moment when he jumps on the, or, you know, who's jumping on the train is it's going by.
01:15:58 --> 01:15:59 [SPEAKER_02]: So I really like that.
01:15:59 --> 01:16:05 [SPEAKER_02]: I like that for the direction they're thinking very carefully about the storyline and how the storyline is connected and how it unfolds.
01:16:05 --> 01:16:10 [SPEAKER_02]: And they're using very traditional methods, screenwriting methods.
01:16:10 --> 01:16:11 [SPEAKER_02]: And I respect that.
01:16:11 --> 01:16:12 [SPEAKER_02]: I appreciate it.
01:16:13 --> 01:16:27 [SPEAKER_01]: Can I ask you guys a question of course so as this was unfolding, it was about to unfold when was the first instance of you say to yourselves Come on, well I am
01:16:30 --> 01:16:31 [SPEAKER_01]: I just learned from the beginning.
01:16:32 --> 01:16:34 [SPEAKER_01]: I knew from the beginning, I knew from the beginning.
01:16:34 --> 01:16:35 [SPEAKER_01]: He's going to show up.
01:16:35 --> 01:16:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:16:35 --> 01:16:38 [SPEAKER_01]: When he did the stick to the store, that's not like me.
01:16:38 --> 01:16:40 [SPEAKER_01]: He's in psycho telemetry.
01:16:40 --> 01:16:58 [SPEAKER_02]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
01:16:58 --> 01:17:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Where as soon as that train hit the tunnel, I was like, you're with all that.
01:17:05 --> 01:17:07 [SPEAKER_01]: I said, you got a conceiver.
01:17:07 --> 01:17:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, exactly.
01:17:08 --> 01:17:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
01:17:09 --> 01:17:10 [SPEAKER_01]: I already knew it was going to have.
01:17:10 --> 01:17:11 [SPEAKER_01]: We're glad you got a conceiver, bro.
01:17:11 --> 01:17:13 [SPEAKER_01]: But that's the tension that's the dramatic tension.
01:17:14 --> 01:17:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, yeah.
01:17:14 --> 01:17:15 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:17:15 --> 01:17:17 [SPEAKER_02]: It's tension and release.
01:17:17 --> 01:17:18 [SPEAKER_02]: That's what drama is.
01:17:18 --> 01:17:21 [SPEAKER_02]: And so they set up the tension and wins the release.
01:17:22 --> 01:17:25 [SPEAKER_01]: Moll shows up and you're like, here I am.
01:17:25 --> 01:17:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Like saying to myself, when is this shift going to come into save the day?
01:17:30 --> 01:17:30 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
01:17:31 --> 01:17:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:17:31 --> 01:17:31 [SPEAKER_02]: Right?
01:17:31 --> 01:17:34 [SPEAKER_02]: Like.
01:17:35 --> 01:17:36 [SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
01:17:36 --> 01:17:45 [SPEAKER_02]: And the the moment that the fight is over and she turns to him and you're like, oh, and he's like, now we're good.
01:17:45 --> 01:17:47 [SPEAKER_02]: Like, oh, so perfect.
01:17:48 --> 01:17:50 [SPEAKER_02]: I am not your true enemy.
01:17:50 --> 01:17:52 [SPEAKER_02]: You have now met your true enemy.
01:17:52 --> 01:17:54 [SPEAKER_02]: So what are you going to do about it?
01:17:55 --> 01:17:55 [SPEAKER_05]: Right?
01:17:55 --> 01:17:56 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
01:17:56 --> 01:17:57 [SPEAKER_05]: I'm not going to fight you.
01:17:57 --> 01:17:58 [SPEAKER_05]: I don't need to fight you.
01:17:59 --> 01:18:00 [SPEAKER_05]: That's not what I want to fight you.
01:18:01 --> 01:18:01 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
01:18:01 --> 01:18:03 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't want to fight you.
01:18:03 --> 01:18:03 [SPEAKER_02]: Now.
01:18:03 --> 01:18:08 [SPEAKER_02]: And then he's his magnetic.
01:18:09 --> 01:18:10 [SPEAKER_02]: He is hypnotic.
01:18:11 --> 01:18:13 [SPEAKER_02]: And what do they do visually?
01:18:13 --> 01:18:30 [SPEAKER_02]: They frame him in that tunnel with all of those light pulsing things going by and so like we're just drawn into his calm and serene face that we have just fallen in love with from the moment that he showed up in the movies.
01:18:31 --> 01:18:34 [SPEAKER_05]: And he has this thing.
01:18:34 --> 01:18:37 [SPEAKER_05]: He does a squint, I don't know if you've seen it.
01:18:37 --> 01:18:38 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like two or three times.
01:18:39 --> 01:18:44 [SPEAKER_05]: Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, ew, squint at you.
01:18:44 --> 01:18:48 [SPEAKER_05]: And they do a kind of close-up when he does it.
01:18:48 --> 01:18:52 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, it's like a little signature thing going on.
01:18:52 --> 01:18:53 [SPEAKER_05]: And it's like, I love it.
01:18:53 --> 01:18:56 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, uh-huh, yeah.
01:18:56 --> 01:18:57 [SPEAKER_05]: I'm looking at you.
01:18:57 --> 01:19:00 [SPEAKER_05]: I can read you.
01:19:00 --> 01:19:06 [SPEAKER_02]: So, and then this whole fight was just such a great rhyming with the dual of the fates.
01:19:07 --> 01:19:18 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, with that, you know, that mean scene of, or, you know, of him, or he really sort of joined the patente on of amazing characters.
01:19:19 --> 01:19:23 [SPEAKER_02]: But this time it's him and a Jedi against the inquisitor.
01:19:23 --> 01:19:27 [SPEAKER_02]: It was even more evil than it's him, like, what is going on, right?
01:19:27 --> 01:19:28 [SPEAKER_02]: So good.
01:19:29 --> 01:19:58 [SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, as there's, I'm thinking of moral, right, and when this is spoilers, right, we're talking about... Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah
01:19:59 --> 01:20:01 [SPEAKER_01]: And he says, he is the chosen one.
01:20:02 --> 01:20:03 [SPEAKER_01]: Is he the chosen one?
01:20:04 --> 01:20:07 [SPEAKER_01]: He's talking at Luke at that point.
01:20:08 --> 01:20:14 [SPEAKER_01]: And he dies saying, though, is that the chosen one, right?
01:20:15 --> 01:20:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Is that like a, is there, is there redemption?
01:20:21 --> 01:20:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Because this mall I'm seeing in this show is that mall at the end.
01:20:30 --> 01:20:35 [SPEAKER_01]: He's not the mall that we first encountered.
01:20:36 --> 01:20:39 [SPEAKER_01]: He's not the mall that's in Clone Wars.
01:20:40 --> 01:20:47 [SPEAKER_01]: He's not the mall that started the death watch that took over, and the Lord.
01:20:48 --> 01:20:56 [SPEAKER_01]: He's not that mall.
01:21:00 --> 01:21:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Those are bookends to me at this point.
01:21:02 --> 01:21:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Huh.
01:21:03 --> 01:21:03 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
01:21:04 --> 01:21:05 [SPEAKER_04]: I'll send.
01:21:06 --> 01:21:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, his journey.
01:21:08 --> 01:21:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
01:21:09 --> 01:21:10 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, of course.
01:21:11 --> 01:21:12 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:21:12 --> 01:21:14 [SPEAKER_01]: His journey was in the force, right?
01:21:14 --> 01:21:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
01:21:14 --> 01:21:18 [SPEAKER_01]: Where he started at and to where he ended.
01:21:19 --> 01:21:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Because when he end up ending, I felt, I felt him.
01:21:22 --> 01:21:23 [SPEAKER_01]: I felt for him in that moment.
01:21:24 --> 01:21:28 [SPEAKER_01]: The first time that I watched that series and, you know, Obi-Wan did it, I'm like,
01:21:29 --> 01:21:34 [SPEAKER_01]: his last words weren't back and picked that up again because he did say fuck you Obi-Wan.
01:21:34 --> 01:21:35 [SPEAKER_01]: I hate you Obi-Wan.
01:21:36 --> 01:21:40 [SPEAKER_01]: You know, his last words was like, oh, is he the chosen one?
01:21:41 --> 01:21:46 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, is he going to make, it was almost like, is he the one who's going to make things right?
01:21:46 --> 01:21:51 [SPEAKER_02]: And he's speaking to like a, like, an equal, a brother, like profile, like a fellow national.
01:21:51 --> 01:21:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:21:52 --> 01:21:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Like we're both force users, we're both in the game.
01:21:55 --> 01:21:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:21:55 --> 01:21:57 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm, I'm done, but
01:21:58 --> 01:22:10 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like I have to like this something I've I've been watching this show and this is I'm not been thinking about and I really I'm starting to think these are bookings.
01:22:11 --> 01:22:11 [SPEAKER_01]: I really am.
01:22:12 --> 01:22:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's really.
01:22:13 --> 01:22:14 [SPEAKER_01]: I might be wrong.
01:22:15 --> 01:22:27 [SPEAKER_01]: But I'm starting to to lean in that direction with how they're presenting more.
01:22:28 --> 01:22:32 [SPEAKER_02]: They have all this up in their, you know, in their head and they have access to all of this stuff.
01:22:32 --> 01:22:41 [SPEAKER_02]: And if they want to go, oh, let's, there's a thing that I was thinking about, they can pull up that tape in an instant, right, and check what's there and do a tough.
01:22:42 --> 01:22:43 [SPEAKER_02]: So yeah.
01:22:43 --> 01:22:55 [SPEAKER_02]: So like, and if they're thinking holistically like this and complexly and giving characters nuance, that's meant to me that's that's them maturing and that's the property maturing.
01:22:56 --> 01:22:56 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
01:22:56 --> 01:23:06 [SPEAKER_02]: And taking this richness in actually seeing, let's not make two dimensional good bad mustache twirling white hat wearing character.
01:23:06 --> 01:23:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
01:23:07 --> 01:23:11 [SPEAKER_02]: And let's take a really morally
01:23:12 --> 01:23:21 [SPEAKER_02]: and do something interesting with him, not just make him a foil, you know, for the good guys.
01:23:23 --> 01:23:44 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, yeah, I don't have any answer to this, but I'm wondering it's like, if he gets an apprentice at this stage of his journey, what would it look like, you know, it maybe I'm thinking on I'm hoping I'm wondering it's something different than just Lord Vader and the emperor, right, it's right would be something different.
01:23:44 --> 01:23:45 [SPEAKER_05]: Right.
01:23:45 --> 01:23:47 [SPEAKER_05]: He's wants something different.
01:23:47 --> 01:23:57 [SPEAKER_05]: You know, he's evil, but it's yeah, John, your words really make me think about, oh, you know, if he gets an apprentice, what is it going to do with that apprentice?
01:23:57 --> 01:23:58 [SPEAKER_05]: Maybe something different.
01:23:58 --> 01:23:58 [SPEAKER_05]: I don't know.
01:23:59 --> 01:24:00 [SPEAKER_05]: It's a crazy talk.
01:24:02 --> 01:24:26 [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no
01:24:26 --> 01:24:27 [SPEAKER_01]: there's something else there.
01:24:27 --> 01:24:28 [SPEAKER_02]: But that's complexity.
01:24:28 --> 01:24:29 [SPEAKER_02]: That's new.
01:24:30 --> 01:24:32 [SPEAKER_02]: And that gives us depth and richness to explore.
01:24:33 --> 01:24:34 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah absolutely.
01:24:35 --> 01:24:38 [SPEAKER_02]: All right, Brian, who is who was Mark calling at the end?
01:24:39 --> 01:24:50 [SPEAKER_05]: You know, it's not very, it's not, you know, very in box thinking, but when I saw the hood, I thought of the
01:24:50 --> 01:24:57 [SPEAKER_05]: Because right, he wears the hood and that's his, his D. Right, that's, and they know that they would plan that.
01:24:57 --> 01:25:02 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, so maybe they're throwing us something, you know, a red hearing at us, probably.
01:25:02 --> 01:25:10 [SPEAKER_05]: So I, I never really thought it was Vader, but, uh, and I don't think the grand inquisitor ever wore a hood.
01:25:11 --> 01:25:13 [SPEAKER_02]: I don't, for me, yeah, I don't get it.
01:25:13 --> 01:25:14 [SPEAKER_02]: So it would be weird, yeah, yeah.
01:25:15 --> 01:25:17 [SPEAKER_02]: Say who else would he be calling?
01:25:17 --> 01:25:19 [SPEAKER_02]: Like you think through the list of who could it be?
01:25:19 --> 01:25:26 [SPEAKER_01]: Jones, you have, I, at the end of the episode, I thought it was Raider.
01:25:26 --> 01:25:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, okay.
01:25:28 --> 01:25:31 [SPEAKER_01]: The last at the very end of the episode, I thought it was Raider.
01:25:33 --> 01:25:34 [SPEAKER_01]: But then, are you sticking with that?
01:25:35 --> 01:25:50 [SPEAKER_01]: It's not that I'm, it's not that I'm not sticking with it, but I can see how Palpatine would undermine Vader by going out of the chain of command.
01:25:50 --> 01:25:54 [SPEAKER_01]: By telling his inquisitor, call me directly, do not call Vader.
01:25:54 --> 01:25:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:25:55 --> 01:25:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Just the fuck with Vader's head.
01:26:01 --> 01:26:19 [SPEAKER_02]: All right, all right, because the in Brian's game here, right, the O's sake out double sake out, I know that you're going to, I know that you know that I know you can, so we are actually just going to make a Palpatine.
01:26:20 --> 01:26:21 [SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
01:26:21 --> 01:26:25 [SPEAKER_02]: I like it a lot because I was on the Vader train too, right?
01:26:26 --> 01:26:28 [SPEAKER_02]: I was like, oh, okay, you know, I'm cool to see badass Vader, right?
01:26:29 --> 01:26:37 [SPEAKER_02]: And we're getting lots of dark corridor, you know, coded red, you know, rogue one and devro one movie Vader fight scenes.
01:26:38 --> 01:26:40 [SPEAKER_02]: But I like how you're thinking is on that.
01:26:40 --> 01:26:41 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
01:26:41 --> 01:26:47 [SPEAKER_05]: And just quickly, there's a personal relationship between Palpatine and Mall.
01:26:49 --> 01:26:49 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.
01:26:49 --> 01:26:50 [SPEAKER_05]: He's right.
01:26:50 --> 01:26:55 [SPEAKER_05]: It's like, that was his room or a friend of this.
01:26:55 --> 01:26:59 [SPEAKER_05]: So there's that connection, which maybe think it was Palpatine.
01:27:00 --> 01:27:00 [SPEAKER_05]: All right.
01:27:00 --> 01:27:01 [SPEAKER_02]: All right.
01:27:02 --> 01:27:02 [SPEAKER_02]: I like it.
01:27:02 --> 01:27:03 [SPEAKER_02]: I like it.
01:27:04 --> 01:27:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Cool, I think that wraps this up.
01:27:06 --> 01:27:10 [SPEAKER_02]: At least, thank you so much again for the excellent Lord Bomb and your fresh takes.
01:27:11 --> 01:27:17 [SPEAKER_02]: I know I'm making an assumption that Alicia is pretty excited because we got a
01:27:18 --> 01:27:43 [SPEAKER_02]: date drop for silo season three, I don't know if you're alone and did you guys Brian you're on this on the silo train too are you yeah yeah and right it's great series yeah early July I think it was July third I think you guys yeah that sounds right that's it I knew it's definitely really July yeah yeah so summer's gonna be busy July third yeah July third July third yeah
01:27:43 --> 01:27:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so it's going to be a hot lore summer we got a summer come to that us temperature just went up the four cast just went up a notch yeah.
01:27:54 --> 01:27:56 [SPEAKER_02]: John how was your.
01:27:57 --> 01:27:59 [SPEAKER_02]: You guys did a episode.
01:28:00 --> 01:28:00 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, we did.
01:28:01 --> 01:28:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Not yet.
01:28:02 --> 01:28:03 [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, um, Punisher comes out.
01:28:03 --> 01:28:04 [SPEAKER_02]: No, sorry, not Punisher.
01:28:05 --> 01:28:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, we just did Daredevil.
01:28:06 --> 01:28:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Daredevil.
01:28:06 --> 01:28:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just did Daredevil.
01:28:08 --> 01:28:12 [SPEAKER_01]: So we'll you'll have another episode for us after next week's.
01:28:13 --> 01:28:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
01:28:15 --> 01:28:17 [SPEAKER_01]: And then I think should I get in on it?
01:28:17 --> 01:28:17 [SPEAKER_02]: Is it I was like.
01:28:17 --> 01:28:18 [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
01:28:19 --> 01:28:19 [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
01:28:19 --> 01:28:19 [SPEAKER_04]: It's good.
01:28:20 --> 01:28:20 [SPEAKER_04]: Absolutely.
01:28:20 --> 01:28:20 [SPEAKER_04]: Good.
01:28:21 --> 01:28:21 [SPEAKER_04]: All right.
01:28:21 --> 01:28:23 [SPEAKER_04]: I just saw episode five.
01:28:23 --> 01:28:23 [SPEAKER_04]: It was great.
01:28:23 --> 01:28:24 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
01:28:24 --> 01:28:24 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
01:28:24 --> 01:28:25 [SPEAKER_04]: I think it's.
01:28:25 --> 01:28:26 [SPEAKER_02]: Do they?
01:28:26 --> 01:28:26 [SPEAKER_02]: And they did it.
01:28:26 --> 01:28:27 [SPEAKER_02]: Did they do it, dump?
01:28:28 --> 01:28:29 [SPEAKER_04]: Nor is it weekly?
01:28:30 --> 01:28:31 [SPEAKER_04]: It's weekly.
01:28:31 --> 01:28:32 [SPEAKER_04]: Weekly.
01:28:32 --> 01:28:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
01:28:33 --> 01:28:33 [SPEAKER_04]: Weekly.
01:28:33 --> 01:28:34 [SPEAKER_04]: That's weekly now.
01:28:34 --> 01:28:35 [SPEAKER_04]: Okay.
01:28:35 --> 01:28:35 [SPEAKER_04]: Cool.
01:28:36 --> 01:28:39 [SPEAKER_02]: Brian, we have an into the West episode coming up soon.
01:28:39 --> 01:28:44 [SPEAKER_05]: We do have a Marine Merlin back for talking about into the West.
01:28:44 --> 01:28:47 [SPEAKER_05]: And then we'll also schedule the conversation.
01:28:47 --> 01:28:48 [SPEAKER_05]: I think everyone's finally seen it.
01:28:49 --> 01:28:50 [SPEAKER_05]: So looking forward to it.
01:28:50 --> 01:28:52 [SPEAKER_02]: I can't believe I never saw that move.
01:28:52 --> 01:28:53 [SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm so sorry.
01:28:53 --> 01:28:55 [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, that's crazy.
01:28:55 --> 01:28:55 [SPEAKER_05]: Oh.
01:28:56 --> 01:28:59 [SPEAKER_02]: It's a really, it's a really good, yeah.
01:28:59 --> 01:29:01 [SPEAKER_05]: It's in my top 10, I think all the time.
01:29:02 --> 01:29:25 [SPEAKER_02]: And you know, I was tripping because I was like, is this this film maybe wasn't the first to use some particular tropes, but I think this is the film that set these tropes into concrete for fuse like the surveillance band thing and yeah, some other stuff right there are some some things where maybe it wasn't the first, but that it really
01:29:25 --> 01:29:29 [SPEAKER_02]: was the second, which means that it put it into active play.
01:29:30 --> 01:29:32 [SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this is a thing and it's going forward.
01:29:32 --> 01:29:34 [SPEAKER_02]: So really cool movie.
01:29:34 --> 01:29:35 [SPEAKER_02]: I'm really excited to talk about it.
01:29:36 --> 01:29:37 [SPEAKER_02]: Thanks, Sean.
01:29:37 --> 01:29:39 [SPEAKER_02]: Either you guys watch in the boys?
01:29:40 --> 01:29:41 [SPEAKER_05]: I haven't started the new season yet.
01:29:42 --> 01:29:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
01:29:45 --> 01:29:45 [SPEAKER_01]: Absolutely.
01:29:45 --> 01:29:48 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the best season they've had in three seasons.
01:29:49 --> 01:29:51 [SPEAKER_02]: All right, all right, all right.
01:29:51 --> 01:29:54 [SPEAKER_02]: Well, radioactive ramblers are covering that.
01:29:54 --> 01:29:58 [SPEAKER_02]: So hit the link tree to go find their show.
01:29:58 --> 01:30:01 [SPEAKER_02]: And they've got us covered on that.
01:30:01 --> 01:30:09 [SPEAKER_02]: I know Jean and Alicia should have a one piece episode out pretty soon covering that.
01:30:09 --> 01:30:18 [SPEAKER_02]: And I believe the Project Hail Mary podcast is also in the pipeline and will be out before long.
01:30:19 --> 01:30:26 [SPEAKER_02]: Other than that, oh, do you either of you guys get a chance to hear the episode that we just released the other day on the Jurassic franchise?
01:30:27 --> 01:30:29 [SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I'm just listening to it.
01:30:29 --> 01:30:30 [SPEAKER_04]: Looking forward to it.
01:30:31 --> 01:30:41 [SPEAKER_02]: So, and I just want to say this to everybody, say this to you guys, but to say this to everybody, just because it's about just because the Jurassic is in the title of this episode.
01:30:41 --> 01:30:59 [SPEAKER_02]: This is a special interview with myself Asher Albain, who's a journalist and a writer and is the co-bed or whatever of online magazine platform thing called Heat Death, which they publish amazing really, really cool articles.
01:30:59 --> 01:31:29 [SPEAKER_02]: and Tansi Gartum who has podcast going rogue and she does these deep dives into film history specifically troubled properties and I've done a couple of episodes with Tansi and this is the first time that Asher and Tansi and I got together this was reported last October
01:31:30 --> 01:31:31 [SPEAKER_02]: only about the Jurassic franchise.
01:31:32 --> 01:31:34 [SPEAKER_02]: It's about science.
01:31:34 --> 01:31:39 [SPEAKER_02]: It's about social norms and how they're encoded embedded into properties.
01:31:39 --> 01:31:50 [SPEAKER_02]: It's about how mega franchises are these ginormous cultural icebergs and the money and scale of these things and how they move across the landscape.
01:31:51 --> 01:31:53 [SPEAKER_02]: And about so much more.
01:31:53 --> 01:31:55 [SPEAKER_02]: And so
01:31:55 --> 01:32:01 [SPEAKER_02]: You're like, ah, I'm not so much into the Jrenswick films, no, no, no, don't miss this conversation.
01:32:01 --> 01:32:07 [SPEAKER_02]: Because it's like really a wide ranging where we just circle around the Jurassic.
01:32:07 --> 01:32:10 [SPEAKER_02]: We don't talk about the movies really that specifically.
01:32:11 --> 01:32:15 [SPEAKER_02]: We talk about what's embedded and coded in the movie franchise.
01:32:16 --> 01:32:23 [SPEAKER_02]: All right, science and film, film history and franchise management and stuff.
01:32:23 --> 01:32:27 [SPEAKER_02]: That's out on the feed, go check that out, go check out heat death, go check out going rogue.
01:32:27 --> 01:32:42 [SPEAKER_02]: And Tansy's new episode is, or season is about to come out, and it's going to all be about the rise of Skywalker, and the last half of the trilogy, and she's going to film his dream.
01:32:42 --> 01:32:51 [SPEAKER_02]: If you participate in your podcast, you know how just on edge he puts you and just brings you into the world of just bizarre film history.
01:32:51 --> 01:32:51 [SPEAKER_02]: It's so great.
01:32:51 --> 01:32:52 [SPEAKER_02]: That's nice.
01:32:53 --> 01:32:53 [SPEAKER_02]: Nice.
01:32:53 --> 01:32:54 [SPEAKER_02]: That's easy.
01:32:54 --> 01:32:58 [SPEAKER_02]: So as usual, lots going on at the lower house.
01:32:59 --> 01:33:06 [SPEAKER_02]: Let's give a quick shout out to our Discord server boosters, Aaron K. Teller, the thriller, do 71, Athena, Agilea.
