David is joined by Ian and Deneé from The Captain's Pod for a mid-season check-in on Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, covering episodes one through five. The conversation explores what's working halfway through the season: the show's balancing act between honoring Trek's 60-year legacy and telling genuinely new stories, the ensemble writing that refuses to let Caleb become the sole gravitational centre, and the radical optimism of Captain Kitty as a model of what Starfleet leadership could mean in 2026. Ian and Deneé also share how The Captain's Pod's three-things format is deepening the viewing experience — and offer a fair warning for anyone still carrying Discovery fatigue into the Academy.

00:00 --> 00:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Hey, everybody.
00:01 --> 00:02 [SPEAKER_01]: David here.
00:02 --> 00:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Just a quick note to explain what this podcast is.
00:05 --> 00:10 [SPEAKER_01]: This is me talking with Ian and today from the captain's pod.
00:10 --> 00:21 [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be covering star fleet Academy and we recorded a quick season preview because they're going to be covering episode to episode starting in a couple of days.
00:21 --> 00:29 [SPEAKER_01]: So we jumped on and recorded this, this has gone out on their feed and we wanted to cross post it over here on our feeds.
00:30 --> 00:45 [SPEAKER_01]: So any of the lower-hounds community that are into Star Trek and are interested in checking out Starfleet Academy, you can head on over to the captain spot and let's head on into this podcast with Ian and today
00:59 --> 01:03 [SPEAKER_00]: And never gets old.
01:03 --> 01:05 [SPEAKER_01]: That's me screaming.
01:05 --> 01:06 [SPEAKER_00]: Were you singing too, David?
01:07 --> 01:08 [SPEAKER_01]: I was noticing the derpy.
01:09 --> 01:09 [SPEAKER_01]: I too.
01:10 --> 01:10 [SPEAKER_00]: Hello.
01:10 --> 01:12 [SPEAKER_00]: Is it an amazing derpy?
01:12 --> 01:14 [SPEAKER_00]: One of our fans made our music.
01:15 --> 01:15 [SPEAKER_01]: Fabulous.
01:15 --> 01:16 [SPEAKER_01]: It's beautiful.
01:16 --> 01:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, fam.
01:17 --> 01:18 [SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
01:18 --> 01:19 [SPEAKER_00]: You guys ready to jump in?
01:20 --> 01:20 [SPEAKER_01]: Let's do it.
01:20 --> 01:21 [SPEAKER_00]: Let's do it.
01:21 --> 01:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Why were you here, David?
01:22 --> 01:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Why were you here?
01:22 --> 01:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Dad, David, why did you bring us into this meeting today?
01:25 --> 01:28 [SPEAKER_01]: Wait, is this so is this my introers this your intro?
01:31 --> 01:32 [SPEAKER_01]: This is your intro.
01:32 --> 01:32 [SPEAKER_03]: Mm-hmm.
01:32 --> 01:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Which probably should we do that again?
01:34 --> 01:34 [SPEAKER_03]: No.
01:34 --> 01:35 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's do it.
01:35 --> 01:37 [SPEAKER_00]: All right.
01:37 --> 01:37 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's do it.
01:37 --> 01:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's do it.
01:40 --> 01:42 [SPEAKER_03]: I will patrons in particular will be used at the chaos.
01:42 --> 01:43 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, yeah.
01:44 --> 01:51 [SPEAKER_01]: And I'm here with some very special friends, Captain Ian and Ambassador Deney from the Captain's pod.
01:51 --> 01:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Happy New Year, guys.
01:52 --> 01:53 [SPEAKER_01]: Happy New Year, David.
01:53 --> 01:56 [SPEAKER_01]: That's so happy to see you guys.
01:56 --> 01:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm so, it's so cozy here.
01:57 --> 01:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, with you.
01:58 --> 01:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
01:59 --> 02:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Two of us are in the same room.
02:00 --> 02:01 [SPEAKER_03]: We wish you were in the same room.
02:01 --> 02:03 [SPEAKER_01]: We could close each room.
02:03 --> 02:04 [SPEAKER_01]: We moved to Missouri.
02:04 --> 02:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Once one day when we have a mooch, and we have a Laura Hound's moot, we will invite all the pods.
02:08 --> 02:09 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
02:09 --> 02:11 [SPEAKER_03]: We'll be there for you there.
02:11 --> 02:11 [SPEAKER_00]: If you go or so.
02:11 --> 02:12 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I would love that.
02:12 --> 02:14 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, we, yes, we're talking, right?
02:14 --> 02:29 [SPEAKER_01]: We, we have there's things to put things to put things are a foot that said we are here today because I was thinking that in the lower house community there are a lot of trackers and we don't cover track on our show.
02:29 --> 02:30 [SPEAKER_01]: It was just a thing.
02:30 --> 02:32 [SPEAKER_01]: We just didn't have capacity at the time.
02:32 --> 02:38 [SPEAKER_01]: And it was sort of falling to, you know, I was the one person who had the knowledge and background for it.
02:38 --> 02:41 [SPEAKER_01]: And there was nothing that had been jumped out at us.
02:41 --> 02:42 [SPEAKER_01]: And then, of course, we came across you guys.
02:43 --> 02:44 [SPEAKER_01]: And we did some Tolkien stuff.
02:44 --> 02:51 [SPEAKER_01]: And then you and Ian and I did our famous, our famously famous Star Trek The Motion Picture and a Bursary Show.
02:51 --> 02:53 [SPEAKER_03]: I think about that probably once a week.
02:54 --> 02:55 [SPEAKER_03]: Really glorious.
02:55 --> 02:56 [SPEAKER_03]: It was such a fun.
02:56 --> 02:57 [SPEAKER_03]: It was probably the...
02:57 --> 02:57 [SPEAKER_03]: It was.
02:57 --> 03:02 [SPEAKER_03]: the deepest I've ever dove into, especially into a Star Trek movie.
03:02 --> 03:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I got deep I've read books.
03:04 --> 03:05 [SPEAKER_03]: I read books, David.
03:05 --> 03:05 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
03:05 --> 03:06 [SPEAKER_03]: That's right.
03:06 --> 03:07 [SPEAKER_03]: For that podcast.
03:07 --> 03:16 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, that is who we are as at the Lorhounds is that we put on our exoskeleton deep diving suits and we go down to the murky bottoms.
03:16 --> 03:17 [SPEAKER_01]: And we love it.
03:17 --> 03:23 [SPEAKER_01]: So I was thinking that I was looking, you know, we have a thing called that
03:23 --> 03:25 [SPEAKER_01]: And it's built in the notion system.
03:26 --> 03:27 [SPEAKER_01]: And that's publicly available.
03:27 --> 03:28 [SPEAKER_01]: And it folks want to link to that.
03:29 --> 03:35 [SPEAKER_01]: And what we do is we curate shows that we're interested in coming up of the year that we think our audience would be interested in.
03:35 --> 03:40 [SPEAKER_01]: It's stuff that we're not covering from a podcast front, but just like, oh, this shows coming up.
03:40 --> 03:41 [SPEAKER_01]: And the original,
03:41 --> 03:48 [SPEAKER_01]: reason it came up was because I needed to keep a track of what's coming up in a year and what's overlapping.
03:48 --> 04:01 [SPEAKER_01]: I needed a gant chart to like know that this podcast ends or overlaps with this one and then solely we built it over the couple of years and so I was looking at Q1 and I was like, oh, Starfleet Academy, that's kind of an important show.
04:01 --> 04:04 [SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting to entrust it.
04:04 --> 04:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it is so interesting to draw fit in January as well.
04:07 --> 04:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
04:09 --> 04:18 [SPEAKER_01]: And I thought, well, if our friends over at the captain's pod, we're going to be covering it, we should probably let some of our community know that you guys are going to do that.
04:19 --> 04:33 [SPEAKER_01]: So I wanted to come to us have a chat and do a little season preview like we do for a lot of our shows where we sort of set up the show and we talk about coverage plans and so that people know what to expect not only from the show, but also like where to go get the content.
04:33 --> 04:34 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
04:34 --> 04:35 [SPEAKER_01]: And so that was fun.
04:35 --> 04:38 [SPEAKER_01]: And it just gives us an opportunity to reconnect in the new years.
04:39 --> 04:41 [SPEAKER_03]: So any excuse to hang out as well.
04:41 --> 04:41 [SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
04:41 --> 04:47 [SPEAKER_03]: We've been on for about 25 minutes already and we are only five minutes in.
04:48 --> 04:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
04:50 --> 04:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Because we had a lot of catching up to do.
04:51 --> 04:53 [SPEAKER_01]: We had a lot of catching up.
04:53 --> 04:57 [SPEAKER_01]: So I have some questions for you guys.
04:57 --> 05:04 [SPEAKER_01]: And I know that one of the sort of frameworks that we share in common across shows is who knows what?
05:04 --> 05:08 [SPEAKER_01]: Some of us know less, and that's part of being the audience proxy.
05:08 --> 05:15 [SPEAKER_01]: So I'm guessing, Janay, that you have not done a lot
05:15 --> 05:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you know me well.
05:17 --> 05:24 [SPEAKER_00]: So on Captain's pod, I am firmly the one that doesn't always know what's going on.
05:24 --> 05:32 [SPEAKER_00]: In fact, most of the time I don't because though I love Star Trek, I am on this journey with the biggest nerd, which is Ian.
05:32 --> 06:01 [SPEAKER_00]: So I will watch content a lot of times it's actually suggested by our fans like we have little seasons that we'll do we just came off of a WTF Star Trek series for example where it was what the fun or whatever you know the crazy stuff and that was really fun a lot of fans suggested there we also just did our fourth year anniversary one where we went back and really like a deep dive into the car the character specifically wait it's four years old too.
06:01 --> 06:03 [SPEAKER_00]: We're still with you.
06:04 --> 06:04 [SPEAKER_00]: We're twins.
06:05 --> 06:08 [SPEAKER_03]: We were ejected from the puddle room at the same time.
06:08 --> 06:17 [SPEAKER_00]: But when a new show airs like this one, certainly to Academy, I'd go in completely blind.
06:17 --> 06:20 [SPEAKER_00]: There are some parts of Star Trek I haven't really even touched yet.
06:20 --> 06:26 [SPEAKER_00]: It's for example barely any of those shows we have even talked about.
06:26 --> 06:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so yeah, this is, I'm excited because this one is a new one for everyone at the same time.
06:31 --> 06:36 [SPEAKER_00]: The last time that happened was a strange new world, which I really, really enjoyed by the way.
06:36 --> 06:43 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so this is kind of another attempt at the franchise to give us something new to enjoy.
06:43 --> 06:51 [SPEAKER_00]: And then I'm getting to do that along with audience, which is kind of rare because I'm usually the one that is the only one that has not seen any thing that we're talking about.
06:52 --> 06:54 [SPEAKER_00]: And it puts me kind of in that fun little position of being like,
06:54 --> 07:14 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what's going on, so my opinion's always based on just randomness and then I'm randomly trying to randomly, frantically trying to answer questions based on my self admittedly quasi encyclopedic knowledge of Star Trek, which is tricky given how much of it there is.
07:15 --> 07:23 [SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I will tend to be the one that has more context and more idea about the Easter eggs and where we are
07:23 --> 07:34 [SPEAKER_03]: But it's really kind of following Deney through the journey and yeah, we'll cover the new content that comes out and then between new content dive into the classic track of the format.
07:34 --> 07:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's definitely the Laura master.
07:36 --> 07:38 [SPEAKER_00]: Like for example, I have no idea.
07:38 --> 07:40 [SPEAKER_00]: in what timeline we are in.
07:40 --> 07:41 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know.
07:41 --> 07:43 [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know if we'll be able to do this for Saturday.
07:43 --> 07:46 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, even if you told me the year, I still don't understand.
07:47 --> 08:02 [SPEAKER_00]: So my start track, like my baseline is the next generation with Captain Picard and Warf and Joryla Forge and Dana Troy and Beverly Crusher and Riker and other people that I am sorry that I forgot.
08:02 --> 08:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, data.
08:03 --> 08:04 [SPEAKER_03]: That's the 2360s.
08:05 --> 08:07 [SPEAKER_03]: That's when that takes place.
08:07 --> 08:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I was really shocked when she showed up and some of our episodes like
08:17 --> 08:20 [SPEAKER_00]: Um, so yeah, so I have I literally have no idea what to expect.
08:20 --> 08:27 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if I'm seeing people like back in spock days or whatever, um, have you watched the trailer?
08:27 --> 08:29 [SPEAKER_00]: No, I'm going in totally blind.
08:29 --> 08:29 [SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
08:29 --> 08:33 [SPEAKER_00]: I have to watch the trailer, but we can do like a little light things like that.
08:33 --> 08:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Like that.
08:34 --> 08:35 [SPEAKER_00]: That won't bother me too much.
08:35 --> 08:41 [SPEAKER_00]: I don't need to be pure going in, especially for what we're doing today, which is, you know, kind of welcoming other people on this journey with us.
08:41 --> 08:42 [SPEAKER_00]: So, right.
08:42 --> 08:52 [SPEAKER_00]: Whether you're somebody who has enjoyed Star Trek for a long time or you're just new, it's kind of our podcast is hopefully a place for everybody to kind of find that that fun, reintroduction or like nerd out with us.
08:53 --> 08:59 [SPEAKER_01]: So Ian, do you want to set up the premise of Star Trek Starfleet Academy for us?
08:59 --> 09:00 [SPEAKER_03]: I would love to.
09:00 --> 09:08 [SPEAKER_03]: So crucially, Star Trek Starfleet Academy takes place in the 32nd century.
09:08 --> 09:09 [SPEAKER_00]: which means nothing.
09:09 --> 09:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Which I'm going to tell you what that means.
09:11 --> 09:12 [SPEAKER_03]: It's the 3s.
09:12 --> 09:20 [SPEAKER_03]: So, Denay, this is a bow, 750 years after the next generation.
09:20 --> 09:21 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, no.
09:21 --> 09:22 [SPEAKER_00]: We're in the future.
09:22 --> 09:23 [SPEAKER_00]: It's hard anymore.
09:23 --> 09:26 [SPEAKER_03]: About 700 years after TNG.
09:26 --> 09:26 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, quick question.
09:26 --> 09:27 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's a long time.
09:27 --> 09:30 [SPEAKER_00]: Do you have how long to cling on's live?
09:30 --> 09:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Because are we going to see water?
09:31 --> 09:32 [SPEAKER_00]: You're not going to see water.
09:32 --> 09:38 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm less, unless he got cryogenically frozen, time-traveled, it is possible we'll see water.
09:38 --> 09:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, great.
09:38 --> 09:41 [SPEAKER_03]: It is highly unlikely that we'll see water.
09:41 --> 09:47 [SPEAKER_01]: I will mention that when you do get around to watching the trailer, you'll hear a lot of voices.
09:47 --> 09:49 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and we do hear Michael Doran's voice.
09:51 --> 10:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, does this mean that so in Star Trek you know how there's like always the computer system talks back to you, but I don't think we want to ship this time because this is a academy.
10:04 --> 10:05 [SPEAKER_03]: we'll get to that.
10:05 --> 10:06 [SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
10:06 --> 10:09 [SPEAKER_01]: So the reason you're now you're that's that's who.
10:09 --> 10:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, deep space nine versus Starshell.
10:11 --> 10:13 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, and that's a whole other space nine needed the shape.
10:13 --> 10:15 [SPEAKER_03]: I had to bring in the defiance.
10:15 --> 10:16 [SPEAKER_01]: So it could actually deploy around two things.
10:16 --> 10:17 [SPEAKER_00]: Defiantly it did.
10:17 --> 10:20 [SPEAKER_01]: How big is the head of a needle and how many things can dance upon it?
10:20 --> 10:21 [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
10:21 --> 10:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Like this is really esoteric.
10:22 --> 10:23 [SPEAKER_01]: So anyway carry on.
10:23 --> 10:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, we keep it.
10:24 --> 10:27 [SPEAKER_03]: No, no, no, I'm you have to stop because I'll get really deep into this.
10:27 --> 10:36 [SPEAKER_03]: So, the reason that we are 750-ish years after TNG is because this is a follow-on from discovery.
10:36 --> 10:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Now, come with me, bear with me, discovery.
10:40 --> 10:47 [SPEAKER_03]: If you don't know, discovery at the end of season 2 of discovery, which was a show that was set, uh, bell.
10:47 --> 10:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Please hold while Ian acts us as his brain.
10:49 --> 10:55 [SPEAKER_03]: my brain, which is said about 10 years before the original series, so Captain Kirk.
10:55 --> 11:00 [SPEAKER_03]: So it's a prequel to Captain Kirk at the end of season two, they got fed up of doing that.
11:00 --> 11:05 [SPEAKER_03]: So they threw discovery, 850 odd years into their future.
11:05 --> 11:10 [SPEAKER_01]: So they did a Voyager, they Jane Wade, they Jane Wade them, but through time.
11:10 --> 11:16 [SPEAKER_03]: So they went 800 years Ish after Kirk, this gave them a new place to play in.
11:16 --> 11:22 [SPEAKER_03]: But the problem with this century is that there was a catastrophe called the burn.
11:23 --> 11:27 [SPEAKER_03]: And what the burn did was destroy any warp capable ship.
11:27 --> 11:31 [SPEAKER_03]: In the galaxy we think universe, I would not.
11:31 --> 11:38 [SPEAKER_03]: That's extreme, but basically, it made warp travel basically impossible and you have to rebuild everything.
11:38 --> 11:39 [SPEAKER_03]: So discovery suddenly.
11:39 --> 11:41 [SPEAKER_01]: I can't make your warp speed limit.
11:41 --> 11:42 [SPEAKER_03]: Indeed.
11:42 --> 11:49 [SPEAKER_03]: Discovery became the only warp capable ship, even though it was 800 years out of date.
11:49 --> 11:52 [SPEAKER_03]: Yesterday, I see your brain bubbling.
11:52 --> 11:58 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, it's kind of like taking a bicycle into the future and suddenly it's the most advanced form of it.
11:58 --> 12:01 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, but you just found out that we was exploded all the time.
12:01 --> 12:02 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, exactly.
12:02 --> 12:04 [SPEAKER_03]: You now have the only two wheels in the galaxy.
12:05 --> 12:09 [SPEAKER_00]: I can just hear the squeaky wheel.
12:09 --> 12:14 [SPEAKER_03]: So it made for a fascinating premise for season three, four, and five of Discovery.
12:15 --> 12:19 [SPEAKER_01]: And I never, I think I crashed out at the end of season one of Discovery.
12:19 --> 12:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely there.
12:20 --> 12:21 [SPEAKER_03]: Absolutely fair.
12:21 --> 12:25 [SPEAKER_03]: But softly academy takes place immediately after Discovery.
12:26 --> 12:30 [SPEAKER_03]: So through the events of Discovery, we now have warp travel again.
12:30 --> 12:33 [SPEAKER_03]: Starfleet is being rebuilt.
12:33 --> 12:35 [SPEAKER_03]: the federation is being rebuilt.
12:36 --> 12:39 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the first year of Starfleet Academy.
12:39 --> 12:41 [SPEAKER_02]: This is the reintroduction.
12:41 --> 12:45 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the first year of the empire having the same year.
12:47 --> 12:48 [SPEAKER_03]: That's the hook of the show.
12:48 --> 12:53 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the freshman year of the relaunch of Starfleet Academy.
12:53 --> 13:04 [SPEAKER_00]: That is so clever because it's going to potentially be that like where future the future great captains get to start all over again.
13:04 --> 13:20 [SPEAKER_00]: It kind of like reset a playing field so to speak because it a lot of times in content you'll get to some great crescendo where there's technology, there's great ships and there's amazing things going on and then there's never a leveler and doing something like this burn the
13:20 --> 13:25 [SPEAKER_00]: as you said, David, was a bit extreme, but like, where do you go from there?
13:25 --> 13:38 [SPEAKER_00]: So for them to play with the idea of, well, we're still going to get back to what we love, and here's how we're going to do it, and we're going to welcome you to see the very beginning of how Starfleet would have happened potentially at the beginning of this of like, they're kind of trying to recreate that.
13:38 --> 13:40 [SPEAKER_01]: That's yeah, that as well.
13:40 --> 13:42 [SPEAKER_01]: That as well, right?
13:42 --> 13:44 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, like, what was it like to be in Starfleet when they started it up?
13:44 --> 13:48 [SPEAKER_01]: Well,
13:48 --> 14:01 [SPEAKER_03]: And that was the big logic that Alex Kurtzman, the gentleman that is largely guiding this era of TV Star Trek, I said, yes, we could have done Starfleet Academy during the TNG, era during the height.
14:02 --> 14:09 [SPEAKER_03]: We could have done it with the archer era when we're starting Starfleet, but it's much of the same.
14:09 --> 14:14 [SPEAKER_03]: We could absolutely could have done that, but this is right, like this period of time.
14:14 --> 14:18 [SPEAKER_01]: is we could have, we could have, we could have traded Patrick Stewart on to the grounds.
14:18 --> 14:19 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
14:19 --> 14:22 [SPEAKER_00]: And one of the things I'm thinking about is with Star Trek.
14:22 --> 14:29 [SPEAKER_00]: If you've never looked into Star Trek before, one of the things that makes it really interesting is that there are aerospace engineers.
14:30 --> 14:31 [SPEAKER_00]: There are,
14:31 --> 14:40 [SPEAKER_00]: scientists, there's like so many brilliant minds that are writing this essentially fanfiction of what they wish they could do in sci-fi world.
14:40 --> 14:46 [SPEAKER_00]: So there's a nerdy things that are now being sent to my shorts feed.
14:46 --> 14:49 [SPEAKER_00]: about, yeah, about these ships.
14:49 --> 14:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we just watched you want about how they design a ship.
14:53 --> 15:03 [SPEAKER_00]: And here's how it actually could work, you know, and it's designed by pilots, you know, so there are some very passionate people that are making this content.
15:03 --> 15:10 [SPEAKER_00]: So what I'm loving to think about too is that when Star Trek started, it's kind of like fumbling their way upwards.
15:10 --> 15:15 [SPEAKER_00]: And so they'll add a new technology and then they have to kind of like canonically make it make them.
15:15 --> 15:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Oh, no, we have to remember that this exists.
15:17 --> 15:24 [SPEAKER_00]: But now, they actually can make things canon from the start based on all that they already have.
15:24 --> 15:37 [SPEAKER_00]: So they can not only do this, set it all back and make everything even again for enemies and for their own technology and all the different things that they're going to play with, but also all of those manuals about their warp technology or whatever.
15:37 --> 15:38 [SPEAKER_00]: That didn't get erased.
15:39 --> 15:39 [SPEAKER_00]: That's still there.
15:39 --> 15:40 [SPEAKER_00]: They just had to rebuild it again.
15:40 --> 15:45 [SPEAKER_00]: So we could actually see them make their canon make sense from the beginning, too.
15:45 --> 15:48 [SPEAKER_03]: We hope we hope that's what they did.
15:48 --> 15:51 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the potential potential potential potential potential.
15:51 --> 15:51 [SPEAKER_00]: We don't want you.
15:51 --> 15:52 [SPEAKER_00]: We don't know.
15:52 --> 15:58 [SPEAKER_03]: They have a great thing about setting it in this far off future versus doing it at the beginning of the OG.
15:58 --> 16:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Starfleet Academy is like, guess what?
16:00 --> 16:10 [SPEAKER_03]: Starfleet Academy would be full of humans because we just started, but now we get to have there aren't spoiler barely any humans in this past.
16:11 --> 16:12 [SPEAKER_03]: It is a mix of it.
16:12 --> 16:14 [SPEAKER_03]: There are some aliens I don't recognise.
16:14 --> 16:21 [SPEAKER_03]: There are this is such a diverse cast, both in terms of actors, but also in terms of the species that they're playing as well.
16:21 --> 16:27 [SPEAKER_00]: We get to see some really cool make-up stuff in theory because there's another one thing.
16:27 --> 16:42 [SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so you like watch old school TOS Star Trek and you will see a man in a lizard head The go on for example And then we had when the one TOS episode that we did is a as a arena wasn't a Monday.
16:42 --> 16:43 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, was it a arena?
16:43 --> 16:44 [SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no, no.
16:44 --> 16:48 [SPEAKER_01]: It was the spinning, uh, the pinwheel evil monster.
16:48 --> 16:51 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, oh, with the fingers, uh, day of the dove.
16:51 --> 16:52 [SPEAKER_03]: You have seen that one.
16:52 --> 16:53 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm fast enough.
16:54 --> 16:56 [SPEAKER_01]: You were there for it.
16:56 --> 17:01 [SPEAKER_01]: but they just just some of the makeup and the costume they're like and you love it.
17:01 --> 17:04 [SPEAKER_00]: You love it because that's what they could do and they still did it.
17:04 --> 17:09 [SPEAKER_00]: You love it because you're like going into the prop closet and they're just gluing something on their face and they come out like, yep, that'll work, you know.
17:10 --> 17:14 [SPEAKER_01]: You took a literal pin wheel and threw a bunch of lights on it and filmed it.
17:14 --> 17:16 [SPEAKER_01]: And that's what they really was.
17:16 --> 17:38 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes, exactly, and we respect that because we like to, I mean, we wouldn't have what we have today if we didn't have what we had back then and I love looking at the costuming and the, you know, all of the cool creature feature stuff, but now not only do we have CGI and we have cool lighting and we have sets and all this stuff, but the creature features they should be really juicy.
17:38 --> 17:39 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they should shine.
17:39 --> 17:40 [SPEAKER_03]: They absolutely should shine.
17:40 --> 17:46 [SPEAKER_03]: And what I'm, this is one of the things I was most excited about in Season 4 and 5 of Discovery is the hybridization that happens.
17:47 --> 17:54 [SPEAKER_03]: So in 700 years, the old rivalries between the Kardashians, the Klingons, the Romulans, the Dominion, whatever you want.
17:54 --> 17:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Who knows what the light has been made and who's into mingled.
17:58 --> 18:03 [SPEAKER_03]: So what variety of foreign geekling on Cadassian do we have?
18:03 --> 18:07 [SPEAKER_03]: Hey, I want to let go and we did see some of that in discovery.
18:07 --> 18:11 [SPEAKER_03]: Not nearly enough, but I'm hoping that's what we get more of in academies.
18:12 --> 18:24 [SPEAKER_03]: Because we're not on discovery, which is a 22nd weight, a 23rd century crew.
18:24 --> 18:27 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm Starfleet Academy and on the USS Athena.
18:28 --> 18:29 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh my gosh, okay.
18:29 --> 18:36 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean, so imagine a world where you're watching a TV show and all the characters turn and look at the weird human that walks in.
18:36 --> 18:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Right, but you should be the weirdness.
18:38 --> 18:39 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, exactly.
18:39 --> 18:39 [SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
18:40 --> 18:44 [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas the continued G, when data would walk in, there would be like, what's with the Android?
18:44 --> 18:45 [SPEAKER_00]: And now it's like, wow.
18:46 --> 18:47 [SPEAKER_00]: So you're not even like half bait is it?
18:47 --> 18:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Well, yeah, you've got nothing.
18:50 --> 18:50 [SPEAKER_00]: You've got nothing in there?
18:51 --> 18:51 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, not yet.
18:51 --> 18:54 [SPEAKER_00]: So your ears, no gills, nothing.
18:53 --> 18:55 [SPEAKER_01]: Let me see your touch with their webbed.
18:55 --> 18:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Your stats, your strength, your dexterity, they're all just right.
18:59 --> 18:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Exactly.
18:59 --> 19:01 [SPEAKER_03]: You just got a plus one to everything.
19:01 --> 19:02 [SPEAKER_03]: That's weird.
19:02 --> 19:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
19:03 --> 19:15 [SPEAKER_00]: Like in Lord of the Rings world, it would be the work, the Orakai, everybody, the elf, the dwarf and the human have all just like somehow merged into a new kind of like thing.
19:15 --> 19:19 [SPEAKER_00]: Because the lines are blurred so so much at some point in mind.
19:19 --> 19:27 [SPEAKER_03]: even argue that at this point, any humans that were pure blooded humans aren't the humans you want to hang out perhaps there's a reason they chose to stay.
19:27 --> 19:30 [SPEAKER_01]: They're in a quarrel, quote, pure blood if yes.
19:31 --> 19:46 [SPEAKER_01]: Deney, well, Jim, you mentioned Tolkien and I want to just aside note, we should you and get you and John talking again and to have you come back on to a somewhere and he's getting back on to the
19:49 --> 19:51 [SPEAKER_01]: So what should we be looking for in this show?
19:52 --> 19:53 [SPEAKER_01]: What's the set up?
19:53 --> 19:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh boy.
19:54 --> 19:55 [SPEAKER_01]: It's that thing.
19:55 --> 19:57 [SPEAKER_01]: I see a picture of Paul Giamati on my screen.
19:57 --> 19:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
19:58 --> 20:09 [SPEAKER_03]: So we are primarily following this new class of cadets, not all of them, but I select few across a variety of species.
20:09 --> 20:10 [SPEAKER_03]: They are our main focus.
20:11 --> 20:16 [SPEAKER_03]: Holly Hunter is a huge get for stars, right?
20:16 --> 20:28 [SPEAKER_03]: I just, I love that we're at a point where big actors, are I, we've been at this point for a long time, but I think any stigma that came with being part of Star Trek is gone, and big actors just like kind of want a slice of the pie.
20:29 --> 20:30 [SPEAKER_01]: So that's Holly Hunter?
20:30 --> 20:31 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's Holly Hunter.
20:32 --> 20:34 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's in the picture that I've brought up.
20:34 --> 20:45 [SPEAKER_03]: So, Holly Hunter is the captain of the USS Athena that is guiding these new set of cadets, but the focus will be on the cadets and how they get through the initial year of Starfleet Academy.
20:46 --> 20:52 [SPEAKER_03]: And Paul Geumarty, again, another incredible actor, is playing the recurring series villain.
20:53 --> 20:56 [SPEAKER_03]: He literally, I love this tip, this tip.
20:56 --> 20:57 [SPEAKER_03]: He got the choice.
20:57 --> 21:08 [SPEAKER_03]: because it's Paul Freakin' GMRT of, I think, six different characters and they said, you pick and you get it and he picks this character specifically.
21:09 --> 21:10 [SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to find a play the bad guy.
21:10 --> 21:17 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he didn't have to play the bad guy, but he chose this character specifically to be, he wanted to be the villain.
21:17 --> 21:24 [SPEAKER_03]: And he is what I'm, he and Holly Hunter obviously are two of the three things that I'm most excited for.
21:24 --> 21:27 [SPEAKER_03]: The third I'm not going to say because it's a spoiler.
21:27 --> 21:28 [SPEAKER_00]: we already know what it is.
21:29 --> 21:31 [SPEAKER_00]: It's all of the Star Trek nerdy talk.
21:31 --> 21:31 [SPEAKER_00]: I mean yes.
21:32 --> 21:38 [SPEAKER_00]: Do we know if it's going to be like drama, humor, a mix of like all of it, like what are they going to going for?
21:38 --> 21:53 [SPEAKER_00]: Is this is this so like strange new world is kind of more of a drama and like almost historical, but then the pepper in different types of episodes, one will be a singing episode, one will be a singing episode, one will be a singing episode.
21:53 --> 21:54 [SPEAKER_03]: Which is the pretty of songs.
21:54 --> 21:55 [SPEAKER_03]: You can jump rope in strange new
21:55 --> 21:56 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
21:56 --> 22:00 [SPEAKER_01]: This is, is this, see, what my, can I do?
22:00 --> 22:01 [SPEAKER_01]: Please make a turn.
22:01 --> 22:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
22:02 --> 22:05 [SPEAKER_01]: My concern was that this was Hogwarts in the 30 seconds.
22:05 --> 22:05 [SPEAKER_01]: So you too.
22:06 --> 22:09 [SPEAKER_00]: Oh, interestingly, I was thinking it was going to be like with the office or something.
22:09 --> 22:13 [SPEAKER_03]: I mean, you know, I'm even more worried that it's going to be funny between those two.
22:13 --> 22:24 [SPEAKER_03]: So one of the trailers and one of the posters, there is an infamous poster, which is, I don't
22:24 --> 22:51 [SPEAKER_03]: laying on grass on there and a circle holding hands all smiling and it's been oh it's a cult it's been no it's been dubbed as one trek hill because that posta looked very much CW young adult there is a CW coded 90210 and that is some that was clearly deliberate marketing right i don't know if it backfired in a way that is gonna get more curiosity or backfired in
22:51 --> 22:55 [SPEAKER_03]: I personally didn't like it, but I'm obviously still here.
22:55 --> 23:12 [SPEAKER_03]: The trailer has seemed very much, the trailer was very much action track, very much strange new modes, very much discovery, dark sets, an away mission, an invasion, a space battle, but the pitch all round has been young adults, kind of like 18 to 22.
23:13 --> 23:20 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm a huge sort of coming-of-age story, stand by me,
23:20 --> 23:27 [SPEAKER_00]: Well, if there's one thing that I've always been able to do, it's watch a episode of Star Trek and kind of see what they're going for.
23:27 --> 23:36 [SPEAKER_00]: Even when things don't quite hit with me, I usually have a pretty good time because the conversation's about like, what is referencing interesting tidbits.
23:36 --> 23:41 [SPEAKER_00]: Those are all reasons that I watch it, but I have the privilege of having the nerd watch along.
23:43 --> 23:47 [SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, I'm really curious about it.
23:47 --> 23:48 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited about it.
23:49 --> 24:00 [SPEAKER_00]: For me, like the poster that we're looking at looks a little retro to yeah, it's like a return to the 70s sort of vibe is what the looks like friends like it looks like a pose a friends post deliberately I think
24:00 --> 24:02 [SPEAKER_00]: I do want to say, too, that there's a show that they did.
24:03 --> 24:05 [SPEAKER_00]: It's an animated show called Lower Decks.
24:05 --> 24:11 [SPEAKER_00]: And so like, yeah, like, Star Trek always hits, there's these different ways they go at making a show.
24:11 --> 24:15 [SPEAKER_00]: But Lower Decks is like a cannon show, but it's totally animated.
24:15 --> 24:15 [SPEAKER_00]: It's fast pace.
24:15 --> 24:19 [SPEAKER_00]: It's very Rick and Morty meets Simpsons kind of a vibe.
24:19 --> 24:20 [SPEAKER_00]: And I really, really loved it.
24:20 --> 24:30 [SPEAKER_00]: And I'm hoping that some of the humor that you really feel on that show starts to leak out into others.
24:30 --> 24:35 [SPEAKER_00]: one of the things that all kind of notices that Star Trek fans like this could exist in real life.
24:35 --> 24:38 [SPEAKER_00]: This is this future is a potential real future.
24:39 --> 24:42 [SPEAKER_00]: So it kind of seems like it should be set in a more serious, realistic space.
24:42 --> 24:43 [SPEAKER_03]: A little utopia dream.
24:44 --> 24:54 [SPEAKER_00]: Whereas something like lower decks, the animated series kind of is silly and so it doesn't seem quite as serious and like modeled after what could be real even though it's canon.
24:54 --> 24:58 [SPEAKER_00]: So I'm kind of looking for a hybrid here and I'm hoping that I
24:58 --> 25:02 [SPEAKER_03]: is one of my favorite things about the 2020s era of Star Trek.
25:02 --> 25:05 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the most variety Star Trek has ever seen.
25:05 --> 25:09 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the, it has almost always been, you got to be on a ship.
25:09 --> 25:17 [SPEAKER_03]: There's a good chance that ship has to be called Enterprise, but you definitely have to be on a
25:17 --> 25:25 [SPEAKER_03]: episodic, yes you have the arc scene in DS9 and enterprise, but it is largely the same show with different people.
25:26 --> 25:33 [SPEAKER_03]: The 2020 has been all over the place for better or worse, in terms of the type of Star Trek that we get.
25:33 --> 25:37 [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm here for the variety, I think it's brave.
25:38 --> 25:46 [SPEAKER_03]: I love it, and eventually you're going to find one that you didn't realise was going to be a hit and could be
25:46 --> 25:49 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm excited for it.
25:49 --> 25:51 [SPEAKER_01]: So what is your coverage plans?
25:51 --> 25:52 [SPEAKER_01]: What are your coverage plans?
25:52 --> 25:55 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so it is going to be weekly.
25:55 --> 25:57 [SPEAKER_03]: We'll cover each episode.
25:58 --> 26:01 [SPEAKER_03]: Episode's come out of the show comes out on a Thursday.
26:01 --> 26:10 [SPEAKER_03]: We will record generally on Fridays and have the episode up for our patrons on Tuesday for the podcast feed on Wednesdays.
26:11 --> 26:15 [SPEAKER_03]: So that gives us time to record edit.
26:15 --> 26:21 [SPEAKER_03]: For our quirk of the show is that we watch the episode side by side, immediately record.
26:21 --> 26:28 [SPEAKER_03]: We don't do multiple watches, it is our notes in the moment that our raw gut feelings.
26:28 --> 26:34 [SPEAKER_03]: And then as the season progresses, we might revisit some thoughts and feelings and we'll do a bit of a wrap up at the end.
26:34 --> 26:38 [SPEAKER_03]: But one of our quirks is that I was going to say kinks, but it's a quirk.
26:38 --> 26:44 [SPEAKER_03]: is that we just dive in immediately after we've watched the episode Raw Feelings and see what happens.
26:44 --> 26:47 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we'll be doing that weekly episode one and two.
26:47 --> 26:51 [SPEAKER_03]: We will be because they release just so done and try together.
26:51 --> 26:52 [SPEAKER_03]: We're going to do a double episode.
26:52 --> 26:56 [SPEAKER_03]: So we'll do episodes one and two all in one batch one episode.
26:56 --> 27:04 [SPEAKER_00]: We also like to do predictions, so we'll oftentimes just from the picture, or the episodes.
27:05 --> 27:11 [SPEAKER_00]: Try to make some guesses, and then as we watch those first two episodes, we make like season predictions and fun stuff.
27:11 --> 27:13 [SPEAKER_00]: So it's kind of a, it's kind of fun.
27:13 --> 27:16 [SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a happy series.
27:16 --> 27:18 [SPEAKER_01]: So we've got a 10 episode season.
27:18 --> 27:20 [SPEAKER_01]: We're starting January 15th.
27:20 --> 27:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Looks like we're wrapping up in about March 12th.
27:23 --> 27:25 [SPEAKER_01]: You guys have a discord.
27:25 --> 27:26 [SPEAKER_01]: We do.
27:26 --> 27:26 [SPEAKER_01]: We do.
27:27 --> 27:30 [SPEAKER_01]: Folks should head over there for conversation.
27:30 --> 27:35 [SPEAKER_01]: We have some Star Trek channels in our discord, but I think we'll have more fruitful conversation.
27:35 --> 27:36 [SPEAKER_03]: Over here.
27:36 --> 27:37 [SPEAKER_03]: We have a few different channels.
27:37 --> 27:41 [SPEAKER_03]: One that's just for Captain Spot, where you talk about the blog.
27:41 --> 27:42 [SPEAKER_03]: We talked about on the show.
27:42 --> 27:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, a general Star Trek channel for everything, and then a spoiler channel, which is like kind of split into whatever shows happening.
27:50 --> 27:56 [SPEAKER_03]: So there is a group to, um, no doubt, a group to nerd out with at any point.
27:56 --> 27:58 [SPEAKER_03]: And most of the discord is Star Trek theme.
27:58 --> 27:59 [SPEAKER_03]: So there is 10 forward.
27:59 --> 28:01 [SPEAKER_03]: We can bring you like kind of personal updates.
28:02 --> 28:05 [SPEAKER_03]: Um, yeah, there's loads of loads of tricky nerdery in there.
28:05 --> 28:07 [SPEAKER_00]: And also a pet's channel.
28:08 --> 28:11 [SPEAKER_00]: There is a pet's recipe for John or not constantly nerding out.
28:11 --> 28:14 [SPEAKER_00]: We also have a daily games channel where we like to play wordle.
28:14 --> 28:16 [SPEAKER_03]: So it takes us a pet's all day long.
28:16 --> 28:18 [SPEAKER_01]: And are you doing a live element of this?
28:18 --> 28:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Are you going to forego that for this particular season?
28:22 --> 28:25 [SPEAKER_00]: We're going to test actually for going it for the first time in a while.
28:25 --> 28:32 [SPEAKER_00]: We've usually gone live with our content and it's been super, super fun and we're honestly a little sad to say goodbye to it for this season.
28:32 --> 28:41 [SPEAKER_00]: But to stay on production, we're going to experiment with just doing the show in our studio and getting it to the podcast feed or for our patrons getting it early.
28:41 --> 28:45 [SPEAKER_00]: But we do plan to try to release some patron only stuff.
28:45 --> 28:47 [SPEAKER_00]: So we also have our supporters there.
28:47 --> 28:58 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we are, we're this year we're producing more captain's pod and Ian and Danay branded things and we've ever done before and that just gives us that little bit of extra bandwidth to get you some more juicy content.
28:58 --> 28:59 [SPEAKER_03]: Fabulous.
28:59 --> 29:00 [SPEAKER_03]: Doesn't that have to be juicy, Eva?
29:00 --> 29:01 [SPEAKER_03]: Could be really dry content.
29:01 --> 29:03 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's the best kind.
29:03 --> 29:04 [SPEAKER_00]: Just a dry cracker.
29:05 --> 29:08 [SPEAKER_03]: Did I tell you about the 3 specifically and about?
29:09 --> 29:13 [SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, well, you know, I'll watch along as well.
29:13 --> 29:20 [SPEAKER_01]: I, I have, I'm like concerns, and then maybe I'll sneak on through on should we talk about should we be pessimistic as well?
29:20 --> 29:22 [SPEAKER_03]: Because I have, I have concerns.
29:22 --> 29:23 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to talk about.
29:23 --> 29:24 [SPEAKER_00]: No, we should not.
29:24 --> 29:25 [SPEAKER_00]: Just because it is.
29:25 --> 29:26 [SPEAKER_00]: It's just, I'm worried.
29:26 --> 29:27 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm really worried.
29:27 --> 29:29 [SPEAKER_00]: What are you worried about?
29:29 --> 29:29 [SPEAKER_00]: I'm worried.
29:29 --> 29:30 [SPEAKER_03]: It's going to be rubbish.
29:31 --> 29:42 [SPEAKER_03]: What I'm worried about is that this because the paramount merger stuff that happened and this was Greenlet and made before all of that are they just going to forget about it.
29:42 --> 29:43 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, it's getting a season two.
29:44 --> 29:48 [SPEAKER_03]: We know that, but but are they just going to forget about it like this is
29:48 --> 29:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Strange new ways he's in five is done.
29:50 --> 29:54 [SPEAKER_03]: This is the last of the Kurtz Manera TV that we know we're getting.
29:54 --> 29:56 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm worried.
29:56 --> 30:02 [SPEAKER_03]: I'm worried that it's going to suffer because this is the end of an era.
30:02 --> 30:04 [SPEAKER_03]: Like this is still in canon.
30:04 --> 30:17 [SPEAKER_03]: This is still playing in the same sandbox, but I'm genuinely worried that it will get a lack of care and attention because it's part of the quote unquote old guard.
30:17 --> 30:19 [SPEAKER_00]: Let's hope it doesn't suck, but you know what it does doesn't suck.
30:19 --> 30:22 [SPEAKER_00]: If it does, what does it have to do with time?
30:22 --> 30:24 [SPEAKER_00]: Like, we will just talk about it.
30:24 --> 30:27 [SPEAKER_01]: We have a baseline section 31 you do.
30:27 --> 30:28 [SPEAKER_03]: I knew you were going to do it.
30:28 --> 30:35 [SPEAKER_03]: Don't you do the last thing we had with section 31 and I'm just I'm selling thing Macbeth at the theater.
30:36 --> 30:52 [SPEAKER_03]: It is on my phone away the worst piece of Star Trek content I've ever watched and we should never mention that when we're talking about launching a ship or a fresh show or something like it's just one of those swings that I hope we learn from right exactly great we swung we missed
30:52 --> 30:54 [SPEAKER_01]: Well, this is exciting.
30:54 --> 30:56 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad to talk with you guys about this.
30:57 --> 30:58 [SPEAKER_01]: I have hopes for the shows.
30:59 --> 31:02 [SPEAKER_01]: Maybe I'll sneak on for a segment or two.
31:02 --> 31:03 [SPEAKER_01]: It's a flattering season.
31:03 --> 31:04 [SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
31:04 --> 31:04 [SPEAKER_01]: Be fun.
31:04 --> 31:08 [SPEAKER_03]: I'll just go say, please start the captain's for the lesson is what's going on with the little hands.
31:08 --> 31:12 [SPEAKER_01]: And we, John, and I just started coverage of season two of the pit.
31:12 --> 31:13 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes.
31:13 --> 31:18 [SPEAKER_01]: We're doing more of a reaction style rather than an analytical style.
31:18 --> 31:21 [SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to just hop on the next morning and just do vibes.
31:21 --> 31:22 [SPEAKER_01]: You stole a format.
31:22 --> 31:23 [SPEAKER_03]: How dare you.
31:23 --> 31:25 [SPEAKER_03]: You're doing it from our lawyers.
31:25 --> 31:26 [SPEAKER_00]: We have a lawyer.
31:26 --> 31:28 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, the cat that just ran in.
31:28 --> 31:29 [SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, the cat is our lawyer.
31:30 --> 31:31 [SPEAKER_00]: Our cat lawyer is here now.
31:31 --> 31:35 [SPEAKER_01]: Um, radioactive ramblers, which is another one of our affiliates.
31:35 --> 31:37 [SPEAKER_01]: They're covering fallout right now.
31:37 --> 31:41 [SPEAKER_01]: And night of the seven kingdoms is going to be our big one.
31:41 --> 31:59 [SPEAKER_01]: And that's where funny dinner you were talking about trying to mix some styles of humor and genre We're really looking forward for nine to seven kingdoms to do that bring in some humor into this very grim world But we are doing something even like if you think just a vibe to only show for the pit is wild for night of the seven kingdoms.
31:59 --> 32:07 [SPEAKER_01]: We're doing a two-pod cross over three episodes a week across two different podcasts
32:07 --> 32:08 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's go.
32:08 --> 32:11 [SPEAKER_01]: So that's going to be with properly Howard with Anthony and Steve.
32:11 --> 32:17 [SPEAKER_01]: Anthony is our, you know, he's been doing chapter by chapter coverage of all of the song of ice and fire.
32:18 --> 32:19 [SPEAKER_01]: He's still in the middle of that.
32:20 --> 32:27 [SPEAKER_01]: And he and his buddy Steve, who's a standup comic, they do a movie review podcast on our feed on our network.
32:28 --> 32:30 [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be covering their show.
32:30 --> 32:31 [SPEAKER_01]: How is this going to go?
32:31 --> 32:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Sunday nights whoever's around.
32:33 --> 32:36 [SPEAKER_01]: We're going to hop on for a hot to instant
32:36 --> 32:43 [SPEAKER_01]: and we're going to talk for like half an hour or so, whatever, whatever we thought about the show, and then that will only go out on the properly Howard.
32:44 --> 32:52 [SPEAKER_01]: Then a couple days later, we'll have a normal deep dive analysis and Alicia and John and Steve and Anthony.
32:52 --> 32:59 [SPEAKER_01]: Myself, I probably won't be doing as many of the deep dives because I'm not into the world as much and I'm going to be doing House of the Dragon later in the year.
32:59 --> 33:11 [SPEAKER_01]: They're going to do a deep dive for the week and then that'll be out and then at the end of the week we're going to do like some feedback and deeper lore kind of stuff to sort of round out the rest of the week.
33:11 --> 33:19 [SPEAKER_01]: So those two bonus podcasts are only going out on the properly Howard feed while we're going to cross post the deep dives on both the lore hounds and properly Howard.
33:19 --> 33:20 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, yeah, cool.
33:20 --> 33:21 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there's some fun times.
33:21 --> 33:22 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's go.
33:22 --> 33:24 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's going to be good.
33:24 --> 33:28 [SPEAKER_01]: And I believe Alicia and Jean are definitely going to be doing some wonderman coverage.
33:28 --> 33:30 [SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sure exactly what the plans are for that.
33:31 --> 33:32 [SPEAKER_01]: So that's at least Q1.
33:32 --> 33:35 [SPEAKER_01]: That's enough to keep us run you for a little while.
33:36 --> 33:38 [SPEAKER_03]: Hey, can we talk about this for half an hour?
33:38 --> 33:38 [SPEAKER_01]: Oh, my gosh.
33:38 --> 33:40 [SPEAKER_03]: Can we talk about Louis for a while?
33:40 --> 33:41 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
33:41 --> 33:42 [SPEAKER_01]: We just did our season.
33:42 --> 33:43 [SPEAKER_01]: This is my third podcast of the day.
33:43 --> 33:58 [SPEAKER_01]: Let's go and we just wrapped up a square of us with Nicole and John popped on to join us with some of his thoughts, so it is a full steam ahead over here at the lower hounds amazing.
33:59 --> 34:09 [SPEAKER_01]: And if you're if you have people who are into Oscar stuff, Alicia is going full bore, she's got I think seven episodes planned to cover all pre Oscar coverage.
34:09 --> 34:10 [SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
34:10 --> 34:14 [SPEAKER_01]: battle day and down into all the shorts and the music and all kinds of stuff.
34:15 --> 34:16 [SPEAKER_03]: That's too much content.
34:16 --> 34:17 [SPEAKER_03]: We need to stop for a minute.
34:17 --> 34:18 [SPEAKER_03]: Let's take a year off.
34:19 --> 34:22 [SPEAKER_03]: Just catch up with everything and then we'll start again and start again, right?
34:22 --> 34:22 [SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
34:22 --> 34:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Everybody stop.
34:23 --> 34:23 [SPEAKER_01]: Right.
34:24 --> 34:24 [SPEAKER_03]: Amazing.
34:24 --> 34:26 [SPEAKER_00]: And then yeah, we look forward to your thoughts.
34:26 --> 34:28 [SPEAKER_00]: So we'll certainly be be having them.
34:28 --> 34:31 [SPEAKER_01]: Like, do you have a feedback email where people can, like, Oh, yes.
34:32 --> 34:33 [SPEAKER_01]: Yes, you can.
34:33 --> 34:34 [SPEAKER_00]: Great question.
34:34 --> 34:38 [SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about the one that we know for sure works, which is e and in today at gmail.com.
34:38 --> 34:44 [SPEAKER_00]: That's i a n a n d d e n e e at gmail.com.
34:44 --> 34:45 [SPEAKER_00]: That one for sure works.
34:45 --> 34:46 [SPEAKER_00]: The other one I broke.
34:46 --> 34:50 [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, she did and I can't figure out how to fix it.
34:50 --> 34:51 [SPEAKER_00]: It's gonna be great.
34:51 --> 35:02 [SPEAKER_00]: It's it's a thing now At first it was like I'll fix it as soon as I can and now weeks and weeks and weeks later It's like I think I think I think it's dead forever Is it it's no MX record thing is it?
35:02 --> 35:03 [SPEAKER_03]: That's exactly what it is.
35:03 --> 35:09 [SPEAKER_03]: Yes, it's exactly what it is and our webmaster is me and today and we are masters of nothing
35:10 --> 35:11 [SPEAKER_01]: Let me know.
