[00:00:10] Hi, Elysiacb here. Welcome to a special temporary episode of the Star Wars Canon Timeline Podcast.
[00:00:16] This episode will self-destruct in two weeks. Sorry, I watched too much Professor Gadget growing
[00:00:21] up. But basically this is the new system I'm trying out for flashback episodes and
[00:00:26] don't worry, there won't be any spoilers or anything this episode but to summarize,
[00:00:31] I want to be able to backdate episodes so that they show up at the right spot in the timelines,
[00:00:36] to give you a complete overview of where the content falls in the Star Wars timeline. And
[00:00:43] Canon Padawan subscribers and storyzins of course also have access to a list of these
[00:00:48] episodes in release order. But the public feed, yeah, I want that to just be a quick
[00:00:54] overview of what happens when. But a bunch of you don't get notifications for backdated episodes,
[00:01:01] so last time I tried placing the episode first at the end of the timeline and then backdating it
[00:01:06] a week or so later. But then for those of you who are already subscribed and stay subscribed,
[00:01:12] it continues to appear that episode in the wrong place in the timeline. So this is what
[00:01:17] I'm going to do going forward. I will release the episode first to the Canon Padawans and
[00:01:22] and then on the day it goes public, I will immediately backdate it to the right part of the
[00:01:27] timeline and then release a companion episode like this one dated to the actual moment of release
[00:01:34] so that it shows up in your notifications. The episodes will be something really simple,
[00:01:38] going forward even more simple than this. The point is just to let you know about
[00:01:42] the new episode, what it is, where to find it and maybe check in on some other more time
[00:01:47] sensitive updates. This week you'll find a link to the new Flashback episode in the show notes,
[00:01:53] or you can look it up by scrolling your feed to the second era, The Old Republic. There you will
[00:02:00] see a new episode for about folklore of the Old Republic Part 1. It's part one of my epic
[00:02:06] discussion with folklore and history scholar Marilyn R. Pequila about how we define stories and
[00:02:12] three specific canon pieces of folklore set in the Old Republic from a Star Wars flood myth
[00:02:17] to two stories about the chillingly clever Sith Lord Darth Caldoth. Along the way we talk about
[00:02:24] key Sith rituals, the most important dark side planets and the physiology and cultures of key
[00:02:30] Star Wars species ranging from the twilight or twilac if you prefer to the night sisters.
[00:02:35] After two weeks, so today is Saturday, September 7th, so on Saturday, September 21st,
[00:02:42] this Flashback companion will be retired meaning it won't be available anymore in the public feed
[00:02:47] and new listeners who join after that point will never see it there. But it will always
[00:02:52] remain available to canon padawan and stories and subscribers in their release order feeds.
[00:02:58] The next three episodes will also be flashbacks as I fill out more of the first
[00:03:01] three eras and I will handle all three of those the same way. After that we'll be moving steadily
[00:03:07] forward in the timeline through the fourth era, the prequel era, and then the flashbacks are going
[00:03:13] to be less frequent. At the beginning of the fourth era I will release an era overview episode
[00:03:19] after the plague is spoke episode with more info on how that era will be covered but if you
[00:03:24] want to read ahead to keep up with the first episodes of that era catch up on any pre-
[00:03:29] quail books and comics from Dooku, Mace Windu, Quiagon, Obi-Wan, Maul, and Jango Fett that you
[00:03:35] might be interested in. Check the full episode listing linked in the show notes for the exact
[00:03:39] titles I'll be covering in these early era four episodes. And of course if you have
[00:03:44] any feedback about any of this please do shoot me an email at SWTimelinePodcast at gmail.com.
[00:03:52] Also since this is my first time releasing an episode since the leak about the acolyte
[00:03:57] not getting renewed I just wanted to say I'm of course really bummed. This might be my favorite
[00:04:01] thing to come out of the out of Star Wars in recent years and no I'm not saying the writing had the
[00:04:06] depth or nuance of Andor but I loved the moral complexity, I love the diversity and star warsiness,
[00:04:12] the characters, the glorious glorious lore and the fights obviously too. So I'm not giving up hope.
[00:04:19] The acolyte fans have been making a lot of positive noise recently with outspoken support
[00:04:24] from the cast and the media and meanwhile Disney's saying nothing so if you're also a fan it's not too
[00:04:31] late to make your voice heard. First and foremost do rewatch and especially get new people who haven't
[00:04:37] yet had the chance to check it out to watch just keep spreading the word that it's worth their time.
[00:04:42] There's also a petition that's picked up some steam but it needs to go a whole lot
[00:04:46] further to keep the positive noise going so if you want more of the acolyte then please
[00:04:50] do sign and pass it on to anyone else who feels the same. You can also send requests via the Disney
[00:04:55] Plus interface, look for instructions on how to do that amongst the show note links. This is a quick
[00:05:01] and easy one but even more meaningful is if you can send a letter. There's actually a website
[00:05:06] set up where they will help you write and send it to make it easier or help people outside the
[00:05:10] US. And yeah by March if you want it and have the funds you'll find t-shirts in the Disney
[00:05:15] store and Funko Pops and figurines and other random items like pillows and foam pop outs.
[00:05:20] I'm not going to link these because I've hit my shill limit for the day but Google's your friend here.
[00:05:25] You'll find though all of those non-merch links plus links to the email supercast episode list,
[00:05:32] the link to the new flashback episodes etc in the show notes. That's all for now. Check out
[00:05:39] the canon folklore of the Old Republic episode back in Era II episode 4 and then watch out for
[00:05:44] another flashback flashback companion pair of episodes canon folklore of the Old Republic part 2
[00:05:50] with more Sith stories and a story about a mad Shih Stevonin, a werewolf-like species you'll want
[00:05:55] to be familiar with before Skeleton Crew releases. Plus at the end of that episode there'll be
[00:06:01] feedback from the Old Republic with some more familiar voices popping up. Until then, delight
[00:06:06] in life bitches. Hey Mark I was listening to Paramore the other day and it really made me
[00:06:25] think about the amygdala and the limbic system. You just made those words up didn't you? What,
[00:06:30] Paramore? We're the Nevermind the Music podcast where one musician and one psychologist talk songwriting
[00:06:35] and the mind one song at a time. We'll hear everything from Green Day and Outcast to Stevie
[00:06:41] Wonder and Dua Lipa and we mostly try to stay on topic except for when we don't want to.
[00:06:46] Nevermind the music wherever you get your podcast.
