[00:00:00] Hello, Wool-Shift-Dustians. The breakdown of the final episodes of Beacon 23 Season 2 is coming your way this weekend.
[00:00:07] In the meantime, enjoy this quick preview of some of the shows and films me and my fellow Lorehounds will be covering on the network during this content crazy summer.
[00:00:16] Don't worry, this feed won't go quiet either, but more on that in the Beacon 23 finale discussion. For now, hot Lore Summer is officially in session.
[00:00:30] In a history to remember, the nerds need a hero. Who will it be?
[00:00:36] The Lorehounds, your guide to hot lore summer with weekly coverage of your favorite nerdy TV shows.
[00:00:49] Well, I guess that's a good opener for our Triarchy meeting to officially declare the hot lore summer in effect.
[00:00:58] It is so. I hear it's got to insert gavel sound.
[00:01:03] It's hot lore summer. I don't understand what's happening.
[00:01:08] It's a vocoder.
[00:01:10] Okay.
[00:01:12] We're having a great time, everyone.
[00:01:14] You're having some fun.
[00:01:15] It's early in the morning. We've got a lot to talk about.
[00:01:18] So we were talking about branding the other day and we were saying let's make a name for the fact that we're going to be covering three shows at a time.
[00:01:28] Four shows if you count Doctor Who.
[00:01:31] I mean, what about the Bear?
[00:01:36] Well, I'm talking about full coverage. The Bear is definitely a one shot at this point because I don't think we can handle anything more than that.
[00:01:44] No, in a Benstra kind of.
[00:01:46] But why don't we say who's here first before we go into more details?
[00:01:52] The Triarchy is here, but also Aaron, would you like to introduce yourself?
[00:01:57] Yeah. So thank you guys for having me and for letting me intrude on this little Triarchy meeting.
[00:02:03] I am the host of Radioactive Ramblings and I'm going to be covering the boys with my co-hosts Chase and Richard.
[00:02:12] So thank you guys for having me on to talk about that.
[00:02:16] Cool. Thanks for being here and thank you for taking the boys off our plate because I don't think we would have been able to do anything about it.
[00:02:23] I love that show so I'm excited for it.
[00:02:25] That's great.
[00:02:26] So if you're not familiar with us and this weird intro is the first thing that you've ever heard from us, sorry.
[00:02:32] But in general, we do some deep conversations about some nerdy TV shows.
[00:02:40] We go deep into the lore.
[00:02:41] We go deep into the history of things in the production and we are covering three big shows this summer.
[00:02:49] Those are the Acolyte, the boys season four and House of the Dragon season two.
[00:02:55] Later in the summer, it'll be rings of power season two, but I'm going to consider those first three, the big main ones.
[00:03:02] So let's go through the three and see what's going on.
[00:03:07] I think, Alicia, you are the Star Wars liaison at this point.
[00:03:12] So why don't you tell us what the Acolyte is supposed to be about?
[00:03:16] Yeah.
[00:03:17] So the Acolyte, if you see people who are particularly excited about this in the land of Star Wars, it's because it's the first thing that really takes place outside,
[00:03:27] the first major thing that really takes place outside the Skywalker saga.
[00:03:32] So we're now set.
[00:03:34] This is 100 years before the prequel trilogy.
[00:03:37] This is the end of the High Republic era.
[00:03:40] And so if you don't know what the High Republic era is, then I have an episode on the podcast of The Star Wars Canon Timeline for you.
[00:03:48] But yes, this is and it's the reviews are good.
[00:03:52] It's supposed to be a compelling mystery, murder mystery of sorts about who's killing the Jedi.
[00:03:58] And just for anyone who doesn't know, an Acolyte is a young Sith trainee basically.
[00:04:04] The Dark Side users.
[00:04:06] And of course has science fiction royalty, Karyan Monsonet.
[00:04:09] Right.
[00:04:10] Of course the cast is great overall.
[00:04:12] Mm-hmm.
[00:04:13] Big cast.
[00:04:14] I'm excited for it.
[00:04:16] You and I are going to be covering that in full and that'll be a lot of fun.
[00:04:20] That'll be on this feed and the Star Wars Canon Timeline feed where you're breaking down from the beginning of time.
[00:04:26] Of Star Wars history, yeah.
[00:04:28] You're breaking down everything by dividing it by eras.
[00:04:34] And yeah, it feels like...
[00:04:37] It's a trap!
[00:04:38] Because it's a lot of content.
[00:04:40] Somebody stop you.
[00:04:42] Luckily, Acolyte's near the beginning of it.
[00:04:45] So we are setting up the history leading into the Acolyte.
[00:04:48] And 132 before the Battle of Yavin, before the original movie.
[00:04:53] Very cool.
[00:04:54] And that's going to be on Disney Plus and that drops June 4th.
[00:04:58] And it's going to run through July 16th.
[00:05:00] And it has an eight episode run and they're dropping two, if I'm correct on that.
[00:05:05] Mm-hmm.
[00:05:06] Great.
[00:05:07] That's correct.
[00:05:08] And then John, are we...
[00:05:09] And that's going to be on the Canon feed, our Star Wars feed.
[00:05:12] And...
[00:05:13] And the General Lord Hound's feed.
[00:05:15] And the mean...
[00:05:16] Okay, and the General Lord Hound's feed.
[00:05:17] Great.
[00:05:18] Plenty of stuff coming.
[00:05:20] Aaron, you've got the boys coming.
[00:05:23] But Homelander's coming back to be more insane this season.
[00:05:26] Can you tell us a little bit about what the boys is about if people haven't watched it before?
[00:05:31] Absolutely.
[00:05:32] So if you haven't watched the boys before, get on it.
[00:05:36] It's fantastic.
[00:05:38] It's basically what superheroes would be like in real life.
[00:05:42] Just very megalomaniac.
[00:05:44] Is that the...
[00:05:45] Megalomaniacal?
[00:05:46] Yeah.
[00:05:47] Yes, we're going to go with that.
[00:05:49] And they are just horrible, horrible people.
[00:05:53] And it's so fun to watch.
[00:05:54] It's sort of similar to succession in that way where you want to watch horrible people doing horrible things.
[00:06:00] That's a good description.
[00:06:02] Yeah.
[00:06:03] And it's very gory and...
[00:06:06] It's all satire of the superhero genre.
[00:06:09] It does a fantastic job of what it needs to do.
[00:06:12] Would you say...
[00:06:13] Spikes in the Paquila Scale?
[00:06:16] Oh, it blows the Paquila Scale out of the water.
[00:06:18] I don't even know if there's a number you could assign to it.
[00:06:21] It goes crazy.
[00:06:23] If the site of cartoonish violence does not bother you that much, it's not often serious.
[00:06:31] Like it is used in a humorous way most of the time.
[00:06:35] Yes.
[00:06:36] There are points where it gets a little dramatic, but most of the time it's really just one big joke.
[00:06:43] But also be prepared for exploding body parts of all body parts.
[00:06:48] Yeah, yeah.
[00:06:50] It's very gory, but it does feel very much like a comic book.
[00:06:53] Yeah.
[00:06:54] Absolutely.
[00:06:55] The only thing missing are the little cartoon text boxes that say POW and WAM on the show.
[00:07:02] And I don't think it's...
[00:07:04] To me, I'm more disturbed about violent scenes in House of the Dragon and in Shogun, things like that.
[00:07:10] Then I am by anything in the boys because of the framing of it.
[00:07:13] And because it's supposed to be silly and satire, it's not...
[00:07:16] I'm not supposed to feel badly for these people.
[00:07:19] Right.
[00:07:20] It's all...
[00:07:21] Almost everyone in the boys is just a bad person.
[00:07:24] And that's kind of what makes you be able to let go.
[00:07:27] Yeah.
[00:07:28] Even the people that you're following and I guess rooting for a little bit, they're
[00:07:32] not the greatest people either.
[00:07:34] You've got Billy Butcher played by Carl Urban.
[00:07:37] And he's definitely not a good guy.
[00:07:40] Right, yeah.
[00:07:42] Exactly.
[00:07:43] All right.
[00:07:44] So a quick synopsis of this season.
[00:07:46] We're coming off the back of the Gen V series, which was a spin-off.
[00:07:51] And there we got to see characters like Victoria Newman closer than ever to the Oval Office
[00:07:56] and under the thumb of Homelander who's consolidating all of his power.
[00:08:01] Butcher only has a few months to live.
[00:08:04] And Ryan Becker's and Homelander's son is lost and with Homelander.
[00:08:13] And now the boys' leader Butcher is seeking out help from characters like this new one
[00:08:19] played by Jeffrey Dean Morgan, and the rest of the team are fed up with all of his lies,
[00:08:24] excuse me, and snaking around.
[00:08:27] So with the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together
[00:08:30] and save the world before it's too late.
[00:08:34] Very exciting.
[00:08:35] It's just going to be on Amazon Prime if you haven't seen the other seasons.
[00:08:39] Let me ask you though, Aaron, do you need to watch Gen V to fully enjoy this season?
[00:08:46] So from what they've said, it doesn't seem like you absolutely have to,
[00:08:50] but it would be very helpful, especially with the Victoria Newman stuff.
[00:08:55] There's a lot of details that are added with that series that I think are pretty important,
[00:09:01] but at the end of the day, I don't think that you have to.
[00:09:05] I just started watching Gen V finally and I mean it's imperfect.
[00:09:11] It sometimes is a little on the nose and definite content warnings for self-harm
[00:09:18] and eating disorders and all the things.
[00:09:21] But I also couldn't stop binging it, so I'm already on episode five.
[00:09:27] Yeah, one of those shows that's hard to put down once you pick it up.
[00:09:31] One of my co-hosts, Richard, he waited months and months to watch that
[00:09:36] and once he started, he just binged the whole thing.
[00:09:41] So that seems to be the effect that it has on people where it's a spin-off,
[00:09:45] people aren't super interested and then once they start, they don't want to stop.
[00:09:49] Cool.
[00:09:50] That's going to start June 13th and run through July 18th.
[00:09:55] I believe it has eight episodes and they're dropping three to start with.
[00:10:00] It's too many.
[00:10:01] Jeff, you got to relax.
[00:10:04] It seems to me the trend with shows this summer is starting with two or three episodes at once.
[00:10:09] I think they're shortening their runtime so that they're keeping it within the hot-law summer confines.
[00:10:15] Let's also, well they think they think it hooks people but also the faster they can get people to finish watching,
[00:10:22] the fewer, the less they have to pay later because they only have to, I don't know, there's like a window.
[00:10:30] Oh, it's for the economics, the studio economics got it.
[00:10:34] And Erin, that's going to be on your feed, Radio Active Ramblers.
[00:10:39] So you won't find that on the Lorhounds main feed.
[00:10:43] You've got to go to Radio Active Ramblings and if you go to the show notes for this episode,
[00:10:49] there'll be a link tree and that has a link to all of our affiliates or you can hop onto our Discord
[00:10:54] and give a shout out for help or just seriously just search in your podcast application,
[00:10:59] just Radio Active Ramblings and that will come up so subscribe there and subscribe now
[00:11:04] because you've got stuff already in your feet, right?
[00:11:07] From Invincible, from Fallout.
[00:11:11] Fallout, we're doing Fallout Lorh and we just finished Invincible which probably is especially enticing
[00:11:18] to the folks who are going to be watching the boys.
[00:11:20] Perfect.
[00:11:21] That's great.
[00:11:22] Very cool.
[00:11:23] David, I'm going to put you in charge of House of the Dragons.
[00:11:25] Oh no.
[00:11:26] Sell it to me.
[00:11:27] Oh no, sell it to me.
[00:11:28] All right, well this is going to start June 16th.
[00:11:31] So what do we have here?
[00:11:33] We have June 4th, June 13th and June 16th, three major shows.
[00:11:38] Triple blessings to you all.
[00:11:40] House of the Dragons season two.
[00:11:42] John, you and I have just been wrapping up our season one recap.
[00:11:45] That's right.
[00:11:46] We're about to record our episodes for 9 and 10 which I watched last night back to
[00:11:51] back.
[00:11:52] Nice.
[00:11:53] And basically the death of King Viserys has triggered a succession crisis.
[00:11:59] His daughter, Princess Rhaenyra and his queen, his widowed queen, Allicent are fighting over
[00:12:09] succession because they've put Aegon II on the throne rather than when it should have
[00:12:14] gone to Rhaenyra.
[00:12:15] I believe they've got something like a 13 to 4 advantage in Dragons.
[00:12:20] Was that the right number?
[00:12:22] Yeah, but Vhagar counts for like 10.
[00:12:24] Exactly.
[00:12:25] So it's the same thing basically.
[00:12:27] The last season was a lot of table setting for it was like a giant table setting season.
[00:12:33] And as I understand it, this is going to be the actual conflict, the actual war for
[00:12:41] House of the Dragons where we have these two houses and their allies fighting over the
[00:12:50] control over the seven kingdoms.
[00:12:52] So I think it's going to be pretty exciting.
[00:12:54] And there's supposed to be a couple of good battle episodes, I believe.
[00:12:58] Oh, yeah, there's going to be good battle episodes.
[00:13:01] There's going to be good, you know, I think Game of Thrones is really good at playing with
[00:13:06] how much you like a certain character at certain points and knowing what's coming.
[00:13:13] I think that's going to be a big thing.
[00:13:15] I think there's going to be a big pendulum going back and forth of who you hate more.
[00:13:19] I think we should tell people to brace themselves for episode one.
[00:13:22] It looks like absolutely, absolutely.
[00:13:25] Red level, level brace yourselves.
[00:13:27] Okay.
[00:13:28] Red writing level.
[00:13:29] Yeah.
[00:13:30] They come in hot.
[00:13:31] All right.
[00:13:32] But you got two good teams, right?
[00:13:33] You got you got Raniera who's all like, you know, kind of a flawed character but
[00:13:39] really means well and then you have Aegon who's basically Anakin.
[00:13:42] It's unfair.
[00:13:43] It's unfair.
[00:13:44] And it's great.
[00:13:46] It's great.
[00:13:47] I'm loving it.
[00:13:48] So that's going to be starting June 16th running through August 4th.
[00:13:52] It's going to have eight episodes this year.
[00:13:54] They're just going to do a normal run, right?
[00:13:56] They're only going to drop one to start with.
[00:13:58] And then John, you and I are going to be doing full coverage of that on our
[00:14:03] Lorhounds mean feed.
[00:14:05] And then we set up a separate feed just for House of the Dragon content to
[00:14:08] try to, you know, for a little search engine optimization, I guess you could say.
[00:14:13] Yep.
[00:14:14] But also the season pass.
[00:14:16] If you just, if you just want hot D premium content like ad free episodes
[00:14:22] early access and the show guide, you can just give us 10 bucks and we'll give
[00:14:26] you permanent access to all that stuff.
[00:14:28] So that is something that we're offering for the first time for House of
[00:14:32] the Dragon.
[00:14:33] Right.
[00:14:34] And that's for folks.
[00:14:35] If you don't want to bother with the Patreon or Supercast subscription
[00:14:38] and have that recurring stuff, just it's a very simple thing.
[00:14:41] And then of course we should also mention the show guide, which you
[00:14:45] know, Brian and Brian, 8063 on our discord put together, which is an amazing
[00:14:50] resource.
[00:14:51] We use a platform called notion.
[00:14:53] It's kind of like this souped up database.
[00:14:55] You think anyway we can make pages live really quick.
[00:14:58] So John, you limited the content to season one, which is really great
[00:15:03] because if you go out on the internet and you try to find out what
[00:15:06] Dragon is this or who's that servant of so-and-so you end up getting
[00:15:11] spoiled because there's just so much information already out there,
[00:15:14] especially because this is pre-published information from the book.
[00:15:18] And so the season one show guide, it's limited to the show and you'll keep
[00:15:23] it up as the episodes go on.
[00:15:25] And it's a really great second screen experience.
[00:15:27] So if you're trying to find out who this Dragon is or who the writer
[00:15:30] is or what have you, it's an awesome resource.
[00:15:32] It looks great and gets it a fun job.
[00:15:35] And so yeah, normal subscribers get that and season pass subscribers
[00:15:38] will get that as well.
[00:15:39] Yep.
[00:15:40] We're not doing anything exclusive to the season pass.
[00:15:42] It's just an option if you just want House of the Dragon stuff
[00:15:45] and you don't want a recurring subscription.
[00:15:47] Yep.
[00:15:48] Anyway, we've got more coming.
[00:15:50] We've got to go back to...
[00:15:52] Jeffery, Jeffery Paisley.
[00:15:55] Somebody stop him.
[00:15:57] He's got Rings of Power season two coming for us at the end of August,
[00:16:01] August 29th to October 3rd.
[00:16:03] It looks like they're starting with three episodes, which feels
[00:16:06] insane to me.
[00:16:08] Seems like an Amazon thing to do, right?
[00:16:10] Yeah, Amazon seems to be doing that a lot.
[00:16:11] I think three is just too much.
[00:16:13] Two, it makes sense.
[00:16:15] Two I'm down with with three is like a lot of pressure on the viewer
[00:16:18] and just it goes by too quickly.
[00:16:20] Then you're almost halfway through their eight episode seasons.
[00:16:23] Well, no one...
[00:16:24] Will none of these studios take into account the plight
[00:16:27] of the poor podcaster?
[00:16:29] The work and the toil and the difficulty that you place us
[00:16:33] in by front loading content so much?
[00:16:36] It's unfair.
[00:16:38] Atticons with us.
[00:16:40] Don't worry.
[00:16:41] Yeah, he gets it.
[00:16:43] Well, if you didn't watch season one of Rings of Power,
[00:16:46] essentially they set up the whole thing with the second age.
[00:16:49] We went through Galadriel's journey to discover what's going on
[00:16:53] with Sauron.
[00:16:54] Sauron, of course, reveals himself as the big villain at the
[00:16:57] end of season one and now we're going to see what Mischief
[00:17:00] he's up to in season two.
[00:17:02] The Elven Rings are already forged, looks like from the
[00:17:04] trailers we're going to get some Dwarven Rings at least
[00:17:06] this season.
[00:17:08] And it looks really good.
[00:17:11] You can listen to our whole hour and a half breakdown of the
[00:17:14] trailer.
[00:17:15] Yeah, what was it like a two minute trailer and we spent an
[00:17:17] hour and a half taking it apart?
[00:17:19] Yeah, yeah.
[00:17:20] And there's a visual guide to the trailer too that's open
[00:17:22] to anybody.
[00:17:23] It's made with notions just like we do for the premium stuff
[00:17:25] but we put this one out for everybody.
[00:17:27] It looks like it's going to be great.
[00:17:29] I mean, I think we're going to get our hearts broken
[00:17:32] several times but I think that it's going to be a lot
[00:17:36] of fun and that's going to be on our main feed and the
[00:17:40] Tolkien feed.
[00:17:41] And it's going to be you, me and Marilyn covering that
[00:17:44] week to week starting August 29th running through
[00:17:47] October 3rd.
[00:17:48] Our favorite Tolkien scholar.
[00:17:50] Of course.
[00:17:51] Yes, of course.
[00:17:53] Now we've got more to get through.
[00:17:58] We've got the end hot lore summer to talk about with
[00:18:05] more one shots and other shows.
[00:18:07] We're going to be doing light coverage on so the bear I
[00:18:10] know I think David is the biggest bear fan I know so
[00:18:13] I'm going to pass on that for a minute.
[00:18:16] Right, so that's going to drop June 27th 10 episode
[00:18:19] binge on FX on Hulu and it's going to season three
[00:18:25] is going to be following Karmie, Sydney and Richie as
[00:18:29] they are trying to keep the their new restaurant,
[00:18:33] the bear running and elevated to sort of this fine
[00:18:37] dining establishment from its lowly beginnings as a
[00:18:40] beef sandwich stand.
[00:18:42] And it seems to be a dramatic.
[00:18:45] It's going to be another drama filled season.
[00:18:48] I think we ended the well, I won't say anything about
[00:18:51] the ending of the first or the second season but
[00:18:53] definitely go back and watch it.
[00:18:54] It's some of the there are a couple of episodes in
[00:18:57] season two that were some of the best episodes of
[00:19:01] telling I like they for me they just have to rank in a
[00:19:04] top 10 of all episodes ever just incredible.
[00:19:08] It's fantastic stuff.
[00:19:09] Aaron, are you a boys fan?
[00:19:11] Bear's fan bear bear.
[00:19:13] Yes, there's too many shoes.
[00:19:15] There's too many shoes.
[00:19:16] It's unfair.
[00:19:18] It's unfair bear.
[00:19:20] I've seen the bear I think two or three times now
[00:19:23] watching it with different people so I'm
[00:19:25] definitely a fan this is one that I'm really
[00:19:28] excited for maybe even more so than the acolyte which
[00:19:31] is saying something because I'm a big Star Wars fan.
[00:19:34] Yeah, so I'm really hyped for this one.
[00:19:37] The acting is just always incredible in every
[00:19:40] single episode.
[00:19:41] We're going to definitely do a one shot for it
[00:19:44] because it's a binge but I'm going to scheme
[00:19:46] a little bit to see if we can maybe on the
[00:19:48] side do some a bit more in depth episode
[00:19:51] episode coverage.
[00:19:53] I hope you have a great time with that David
[00:19:55] because right now I feel like this has
[00:19:58] just been said to me.
[00:20:00] So you have chosen death.
[00:20:03] As far as the amount of coverage I've signed on for this season.
[00:20:08] I also, I have no idea when it's going to be out in Europe.
[00:20:11] I hope that with Shogun that now FX is like
[00:20:14] oh hey maybe we should release these major shows
[00:20:17] in all markets at the same time but previously
[00:20:19] the last two seasons we got it months later.
[00:20:22] It's nuts because you could spark a global
[00:20:25] conversation about a show and really
[00:20:28] promote your brand.
[00:20:30] It's craziness.
[00:20:32] Really missing out on the opportunity to have
[00:20:34] people hyping it up.
[00:20:36] And then if people watch it other ways
[00:20:39] and they're not watching it through their streamer
[00:20:41] when it gets there so you're just diminishing
[00:20:43] your streamers value.
[00:20:45] Anyway keep your ears open it'll be a little
[00:20:48] bit delayed from the air date because
[00:20:51] it'll take us time to be able to watch everything
[00:20:54] and then get something together but we will definitely
[00:20:56] be discussing it on the main Lorhoun feed.
[00:21:00] Cool. Alicia you've got some vampiric doing so
[00:21:03] why don't you tell us about that?
[00:21:05] Yes I have an interview with the vampire agenda.
[00:21:08] Thank you for giving me the floor.
[00:21:11] I mean it's from my perspective it is one
[00:21:14] of the best shows on television or streaming
[00:21:17] whatever right now.
[00:21:19] It's on season 2 the writing remains
[00:21:22] at the level of Andor, level writing.
[00:21:25] It's sort of a Rashman style storytelling
[00:21:28] where you're seeing the story from different
[00:21:31] characters perspectives and
[00:21:34] you out of it it's a romantic tragedy
[00:21:37] but you don't really know whose perspective
[00:21:39] to trust and you don't know
[00:21:42] there's enough like happy moments
[00:21:45] to keep you yearning for those
[00:21:48] when the tragic goes.
[00:21:50] And there's so much Lorhoun
[00:21:52] the Twitter community is very active
[00:21:54] loves to analyze it so it's a very fun
[00:21:56] show to watch it's being released weekly.
[00:21:58] We're now on episodes
[00:22:01] the first three episodes are out
[00:22:03] out of eight in total so it'll end at the end
[00:22:05] of June versus the
[00:22:08] book they switch
[00:22:10] they shifted the time period more
[00:22:12] like modern so that they could have the modern
[00:22:14] time take place you know in today
[00:22:16] in 2022 is when the first season was
[00:22:18] set but that means that
[00:22:20] they've been able to do a completely fresh
[00:22:22] take with you know so the first
[00:22:24] season's mostly set in Storyville
[00:22:26] a neighborhood of
[00:22:28] New Orleans in 1910s
[00:22:30] and it's like
[00:22:32] when we watch
[00:22:34] the Watchmen and learned about the Tulsa
[00:22:36] Massacres it's not
[00:22:38] that there's well I mean
[00:22:40] it just opened another window
[00:22:42] in the world that I didn't know about
[00:22:44] even though I love New Orleans history
[00:22:46] and then also now the new season
[00:22:48] is set in post World War
[00:22:50] 2 Eastern Europe and Paris so
[00:22:52] just really
[00:22:54] fascinating watch three episodes
[00:22:56] in they're laying the groundwork for
[00:22:58] yeah very emotionally compelling
[00:23:00] season book readers know this is going to be an explosive finale
[00:23:02] and I just
[00:23:04] yeah for any just a wreck for anyone
[00:23:06] who hasn't read the books and
[00:23:08] wants to catch up on the book story
[00:23:10] the Naughty Librarian on YouTube
[00:23:12] she gives great summaries of all the books in the series
[00:23:16] that's on AMC plus in the US
[00:23:18] and elsewhere outside the US
[00:23:20] and we're going to be doing a
[00:23:22] one shot with a special guest
[00:23:24] Christina from Vampire Insider
[00:23:26] and they're doing weekly breakdowns
[00:23:28] of the show so if you want
[00:23:30] weekly breakdowns I recommend them
[00:23:32] and that'll be on the main feed
[00:23:34] and that's at the end of June sometime
[00:23:36] well yeah so it ends at the end of June
[00:23:38] yeah so at the start of July
[00:23:40] so it's a good day to do it
[00:23:42] perfect you know I gotta say
[00:23:44] if you're a network right now
[00:23:46] and you're considering adding plus to your name
[00:23:48] creating a streaming service
[00:23:50] just stop
[00:23:52] just stop the lore
[00:23:54] AMC is like
[00:23:56] they have a lot going on
[00:23:58] like they had that new Walking Dead show
[00:24:00] they have that whole Walking Dead series
[00:24:02] there's a new take on Orphan Black
[00:24:04] which was a favorite of mine coming out
[00:24:06] well I just think
[00:24:08] some of them are just gonna have to suck it up
[00:24:10] and bow down
[00:24:12] Jeffy
[00:24:14] I think you can get it through Amazon also
[00:24:16] and
[00:24:18] alright so
[00:24:20] who wants to break the fourth wall
[00:24:22] and talk about Deadpool and Wolverine
[00:24:24] which I think might be a
[00:24:26] hop on for me for the MCU
[00:24:28] I might jump in for that one
[00:24:30] so that's going to be in theaters on July 26th
[00:24:32] we're definitely going to do
[00:24:34] a one shot for that on the Lorhounds main
[00:24:36] but Alicia
[00:24:38] we haven't talked about coverage plans
[00:24:40] I mean obviously
[00:24:42] obviously our MC Universe
[00:24:44] crew should assemble
[00:24:46] to cover this with maybe a special guest
[00:24:48] appearance
[00:24:50] can I just tell the story
[00:24:52] of when I went to go see Deadpool 1
[00:24:54] in theaters? I think you are
[00:24:56] I don't think you can do it
[00:24:58] it's my podcast
[00:25:00] I'm doing it
[00:25:02] so I went to the theater
[00:25:04] with my wife, she was my girlfriend at the time
[00:25:06] because it was a long time ago
[00:25:08] and we get there
[00:25:10] and in front of us is this mother with her like
[00:25:12] 7-8 year old boy
[00:25:14] and she says can I take it to Deadpool
[00:25:16] and the guy at the counter goes
[00:25:18] hey just so you know it's rated R
[00:25:20] for extreme violence and sexual content
[00:25:22] and she goes
[00:25:24] oh he'll be fine
[00:25:26] so we get into the theater
[00:25:28] you know she was like alright whatever
[00:25:30] we get into the theater
[00:25:32] we get into the movie she's walking out with it
[00:25:34] because there's already like insane stuff going on
[00:25:36] I'm like the guy told you
[00:25:40] but yeah I can't believe
[00:25:42] Disney is letting Ryan Reynolds go forward
[00:25:44] with his usual
[00:25:46] nonsense but it seems like that's what's happening
[00:25:48] and it's gonna be cameo
[00:25:50] central like even just if we only
[00:25:52] get the cameos that are confirmed
[00:25:54] and not the ones rumored it's going to be
[00:25:56] insane and this has long been predicted
[00:25:58] to probably be the biggest box office hit
[00:26:00] this year
[00:26:02] and I think it's putting a lot of weight
[00:26:04] on the MCU because we only have
[00:26:06] the only other thing that we've got
[00:26:08] MCU out is
[00:26:10] Agatha all along
[00:26:12] is that right Alicia?
[00:26:14] I mean for this year yeah
[00:26:16] yeah
[00:26:18] we're last year
[00:26:20] I mean coming up coming up
[00:26:22] but also we do actually have
[00:26:24] probably more animated shows coming out this year
[00:26:26] right so last year
[00:26:28] obviously we had a kind of high watermark
[00:26:30] and then Disney is recalibrating
[00:26:32] and so there's a lot of expectation around this film
[00:26:34] and I know that the last
[00:26:36] couple of Deadpool movies
[00:26:38] do have a lot of
[00:26:40] favor in the fandom
[00:26:42] Aaron are you a Deadpool fan?
[00:26:44] I am actually when I went to the theater
[00:26:46] yesterday
[00:26:48] I had a pretty funny experience because
[00:26:50] the silence your cellphone message at the
[00:26:52] AMC that I went to was Deadpool and Wolverine
[00:26:54] no, I'm not a fan of my cellphone
[00:26:56] so the marketing team is having some fun with this one
[00:26:58] oh yeah absolutely
[00:27:00] just let Ryan Reynolds loose
[00:27:02] you were at the theater seeing Furiosa
[00:27:04] the other day? I was
[00:27:06] I went yesterday morning that was a fun
[00:27:08] film to see
[00:27:10] very cool, I know Alicia and Aaron
[00:27:12] and myself are going to be doing a one
[00:27:14] shot on Furiosa this weekend
[00:27:16] which does it officially
[00:27:18] fall within the hot lore summer
[00:27:20] yeah I mean we're releasing it in
[00:27:22] June so
[00:27:24] that's a theme
[00:27:26] it is
[00:27:28] loving the sound board today
[00:27:30] it's hot lore summer
[00:27:32] so we can use as many sounds
[00:27:34] as we want on this silly podcast
[00:27:36] we don't usually do this
[00:27:38] listen everyone if you're not here usually
[00:27:40] it's not usually the tone of this podcast
[00:27:42] we're just being silly today
[00:27:44] oh yeah we usually go much deeper
[00:27:46] into things too but this is just a sampler platter
[00:27:48] alright right okay
[00:27:50] David you are
[00:27:52] captain
[00:27:54] alien over here
[00:27:56] you've been championing classic horror
[00:27:58] my question is what other
[00:28:00] stories are there to tell in this universe
[00:28:02] about things popping out of people's bellies
[00:28:04] apparently a lot because we're going to get
[00:28:06] Alien Romulus
[00:28:08] is in theaters
[00:28:10] on August 16th
[00:28:12] and we also
[00:28:14] I believe coming out next year
[00:28:16] we're going to have an Alien television series
[00:28:18] so hold on to your
[00:28:20] hats for that
[00:28:22] but this one is apparently about a group of young
[00:28:24] space colonizers
[00:28:26] I don't know if colonizers is the right word that the marketing team wants to be using
[00:28:28] in this day and age
[00:28:30] anyway a bunch of folks are out in deep
[00:28:32] space when they come across the xenomorph
[00:28:34] apparently this is going to be a standalone
[00:28:36] installment
[00:28:38] of the franchise and it's going to fall between
[00:28:40] on the timeline
[00:28:42] it's going to fall between the first movie Alien
[00:28:44] and the second movie Aliens
[00:28:46] in the story timeline
[00:28:48] I am definitely interested on a one shot
[00:28:50] I have yet to turn on the Lorhounds
[00:28:52] signal
[00:28:54] I want to say bat signal but you know what I mean
[00:28:56] so
[00:28:58] we don't know yet who's going to sign on
[00:29:00] with me for coverage but I'm definitely interested in it
[00:29:02] this is the
[00:29:04] 45th anniversary
[00:29:06] of the first movie Alien
[00:29:08] and I'm working on a one shot
[00:29:10] with Ron on that
[00:29:12] and then I think we're going to have some bonus podcast
[00:29:14] material with that I'm going to
[00:29:16] talk to a couple of other academics
[00:29:18] and maybe get a little Lorhounds round table
[00:29:20] together so I've got some alien plans in the works
[00:29:22] things are gestating
[00:29:24] as we can say
[00:29:26] I don't like that in the Alien universe
[00:29:28] I don't like gestation in that
[00:29:30] so we should all aim to get
[00:29:32] a one shot out about
[00:29:34] a week after it drops in the theaters
[00:29:36] cool
[00:29:38] well I think that's about it for hot Lorhs summer
[00:29:40] and I think this was
[00:29:42] basically sufficient show notes for
[00:29:44] at least the Lorhounds feed
[00:29:46] this whole episode
[00:29:48] was show notes but we're going to go into
[00:29:50] show notes for the rest of everybody quickly
[00:29:52] Erin can you tell us
[00:29:54] about radioactive ramblings
[00:29:56] absolutely so
[00:29:58] radioactive ramblings right now me
[00:30:00] and one of my co-hosts Richard
[00:30:02] we're doing a whole fallout
[00:30:04] lore series where we're going to be going into
[00:30:06] the origins of the different factions
[00:30:08] we already have
[00:30:10] two episodes out third one coming out soon
[00:30:12] those are going to be dropping
[00:30:14] bar illness which is why
[00:30:16] one didn't come out this week
[00:30:18] dropping on Mondays
[00:30:20] and we're hoping to just give people
[00:30:22] a little bit of a background look
[00:30:24] into the fallout universe
[00:30:26] sort of like the
[00:30:28] second age podcast that you guys do
[00:30:32] other than that right now there's no definitive
[00:30:34] series we have until the boys
[00:30:36] come out once the boys comes
[00:30:38] comes out it'll be
[00:30:40] me and my co-hosts and
[00:30:42] I know that you guys had expressed some interest
[00:30:44] in hopping on and doing a little bit
[00:30:46] of boys coverage as well
[00:30:48] I do like the boys we just
[00:30:50] got to make sure it works because
[00:30:52] it is hot lore summer and
[00:30:54] it is a trap
[00:30:56] I'm not going to do the sound bite but
[00:30:58] yeah
[00:31:00] well you know that you guys are always welcome on
[00:31:02] and if you can't make it
[00:31:04] that's totally fine but we would love to have you
[00:31:06] for a few episodes
[00:31:08] cool thanks and thanks for the invitation
[00:31:10] yeah
[00:31:12] so Alicia you've got a lot of projects
[00:31:14] tell us about them
[00:31:16] so almost shift us
[00:31:18] we are wrapping up season 2
[00:31:20] of week in 22 at least the
[00:31:22] coverage of the actual episodes this week
[00:31:24] so last two episodes
[00:31:26] seven and eight
[00:31:28] and on the book club
[00:31:30] we're I'm releasing part one
[00:31:32] of the shift
[00:31:34] book breakdown so first shift
[00:31:36] Abby and I had a long two hour
[00:31:38] conversation about just that part of the
[00:31:40] book
[00:31:42] and then on the
[00:31:44] Star Wars canon timeline podcast
[00:31:46] there's going to be two episodes this week
[00:31:48] wrapping up the blitz of pre-acolyte
[00:31:50] coverage with a breakdown
[00:31:52] of season one of young Jedi adventures
[00:31:54] so we'll tell you what you need to
[00:31:56] know about the preschool show so you don't have to watch it yourself
[00:31:58] if you don't want to
[00:32:00] and then there's going to be an
[00:32:02] acolyte preview final
[00:32:04] of the pre-acolyte episode where Bob and I are going to talk about
[00:32:08] the characters in the show
[00:32:10] and who might show up and what we know
[00:32:12] and what we expect before John and I
[00:32:14] start our weekly breakdowns
[00:32:16] cool
[00:32:18] so now we just want
[00:32:20] to mention not radioactive
[00:32:22] ramblings you're already here rings and rituals
[00:32:24] they're doing
[00:32:26] their rewatch of season one of the rings of power
[00:32:28] going through it through the lens
[00:32:30] of ritual please listen
[00:32:32] tomorrow
[00:32:34] I think I'm going to put this out today so tomorrow
[00:32:36] we are going to get
[00:32:38] an episode on Udun episode 6
[00:32:40] which I know is a fan favorite I think that was our top
[00:32:42] downloaded episode ever of this podcast
[00:32:44] was our coverage of that so that's pretty fun
[00:32:46] and
[00:32:48] properly Howard movie review is just
[00:32:50] finishing up their season this week
[00:32:52] no they're actually they got an extra one
[00:32:54] out oh they do
[00:32:56] yeah they were off by a week they yeah
[00:32:58] they were off by a week okay well
[00:33:00] then are they doing rocky this week then
[00:33:02] no I believe it'll be next week
[00:33:04] well then our podcast schedule is wrong
[00:33:06] on the discord so I got to fix that
[00:33:08] there if you they just it just
[00:33:10] dropped yesterday
[00:33:12] I'll check it out
[00:33:14] it's a hold on it's here
[00:33:16] true romance just
