"A Dark Web" – episode 3 of season 3 of Silo on Apple TV – has Luke and Elysia mining both show reveals and first-book canon to figure out what exactly our characters might be digging up this week. From close encounters of a hacker kind in Silo 18's distant past, which is looking increasingly like our present, to reforged bonds in relationships old and new, we're poring over every detail like we're Sheriff Billings prepping for a Pact competition. And then asking... But what if this were a 1950s Noir?

00:26 --> 00:33 [UNKNOWN]: Hello and welcome to the dark web of the wool shift us podcast breakdown of silo season 2 episode 3.
00:33 --> 00:36 [UNKNOWN]: I'm Alicia elected to represent your book reading interests.
00:37 --> 00:47 [UNKNOWN]: And I'm late, the show only fans MP, the font of ever more refined theories about aliens and other stuff for most of the aliens.
00:48 --> 01:07 [UNKNOWN]: Welcome back if this is your first episode you may want to start at the beginning of the season or the beginning of the entire series if you can stand a slightly lower audio quality and there you will learn more about who we are and what we're each bringing to the discussion but today we will be focusing on season three episode three a dark web.
01:07 --> 01:14 [UNKNOWN]: where secrets across two timelines converge and we've got plenty of conspiracy theories about them.
01:14 --> 01:21 [UNKNOWN]: But before we get into it, Luke just to put minds at ease, what is the full version of our spoiler policy for this podcast?
01:21 --> 01:22 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:22 --> 01:26 [UNKNOWN]: So the discussion will be spoiler free beyond what's already aired.
01:26 --> 01:32 [UNKNOWN]: So there'll be spoilers for seasons one, two and the first three episodes of season three.
01:35 --> 01:43 [UNKNOWN]: It's already happened on screen, but to protect mine and other show-only fans' innocence, there'll be no future book spoilers.
01:44 --> 01:49 [UNKNOWN]: We won't discuss anything from any of the trailers that hasn't been shown on screen yet, either.
01:49 --> 02:02 [UNKNOWN]: Let's see to the two episodes, release before the season started for Deep Gives into the trailers and other marketing materials that were released in earlier this year in May, June.
02:03 --> 02:17 [UNKNOWN]: and the small note as always that when I speculate it's genuine because the show is totally doing its own thing from the books so if I can't talk about anything I will just say so or say nothing and we will move on.
02:18 --> 02:27 [UNKNOWN]: But if you do want the full spoiler discussion and deep dives into all of the book secrets then I recommend sticking around until the end when I talk about the book
02:28 --> 02:39 [UNKNOWN]: club podcast where Abby and I are getting together every week for a deep dive into what we think is going on with the book lore in this show and a special topic each week.
02:39 --> 02:42 [UNKNOWN]: This topic will be the mines, but this week
02:43 --> 02:58 [UNKNOWN]: I'm going to make up for, I'm sorry, this episode is a day or more late, but I will make up for it by we have an extra section at the end where I'm splitting the deep dive into the bookmine stuff into two episodes.
02:58 --> 03:06 [UNKNOWN]: We will talk about the mind stuff discussed in the first book here and the mind stuff discussed in the third book in the book club podcast.
03:07 --> 03:07 [UNKNOWN]: So
03:08 --> 03:13 [UNKNOWN]: Um, also Luke, you and I just did a feedback episode that was fun.
03:14 --> 03:15 [UNKNOWN]: Lots of good discussion.
03:15 --> 03:17 [UNKNOWN]: We did and we got a lot of feedback as well.
03:18 --> 03:19 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
03:19 --> 03:28 [UNKNOWN]: We will probably wait a little longer for the next one uh after episode six because Luke's gonna do a little traveling so we're gonna focus on getting the episodes out themselves.
03:29 --> 03:34 [UNKNOWN]: But there were a few quick pieces of feedback that we got based on that
03:37 --> 03:38 [UNKNOWN]: good to hear from you.
03:38 --> 03:48 [UNKNOWN]: So let's let's start with first of all, I raised the question, there was a YouTube comment asking me if I really had to say all the names of the actors.
03:48 --> 03:51 [UNKNOWN]: And so I put out a call, what do people think?
03:51 --> 03:55 [UNKNOWN]: Because I had gotten mostly people who liked it,
03:56 --> 04:04 [UNKNOWN]: someone who didn't, we got a couple of responses where Quilt Beck has said, I appreciate hearing the actor's name when you first mentioned the character.
04:04 --> 04:07 [UNKNOWN]: It helps me to learn the cast and it shows respect to the actors.
04:08 --> 04:11 [UNKNOWN]: The TCS says, is this where I post yes to identifying the actor?
04:12 --> 04:14 [UNKNOWN]: The first time you mentioned the character, I really like that.
04:14 --> 04:16 [UNKNOWN]: It's both informative and respectful to their work.
04:17 --> 04:27 [UNKNOWN]: So thank you, that and the other people have said similar in the past to me, I will continue with it, unless I hear from other people that they are finding it annoying.
04:27 --> 04:29 [UNKNOWN]: So I thought to that, Luke.
04:30 --> 04:36 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, if that's if that's what the people want to do, we are, but the people who's elected representative, so.
04:38 --> 04:44 [UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, well, I do take a more active, I suppose, Julia, it's the role in the leadership where I'm like, it's also what I want to do.
04:44 --> 04:50 [UNKNOWN]: So, you know, I'm not going to argue with that.
04:51 --> 04:57 [UNKNOWN]: Speaking of names, we also got some follow-up from Waiyans, our official check name correspondent.
04:59 --> 05:00 [UNKNOWN]: They said, hi there.
05:00 --> 05:02 [UNKNOWN]: Again, just finished your memory manipulation episode.
05:02 --> 05:04 [UNKNOWN]: Thank you for mentioning my messages.
05:04 --> 05:08 [UNKNOWN]: I just wanted to add that I think I know why they made this change to Victor's last name.
05:09 --> 05:18 [UNKNOWN]: And then they linked to Matt Craven's wiki page, which reveals that Matt Craven's real name is Matthew John Cervich.
05:19 --> 05:22 [UNKNOWN]: So they just gave the character, the actor's real last name.
05:23 --> 05:27 [UNKNOWN]: Well, at least he actually is not going to have any problem remembering what his name is.
05:29 --> 05:35 [UNKNOWN]: I hope that's not a danger, but now I really hope it's not a danger.
05:36 --> 05:46 [UNKNOWN]: And then the last piece of feedback we got at two people's feedback about Daniel's personality, which we had a lovely discussion about in the mail bag episode.
05:47 --> 05:52 [UNKNOWN]: Paul Kent says, uh, there's so much fuss on the pot over Zuckerman supposed to underacting.
05:52 --> 05:57 [UNKNOWN]: Daniel's personality is quiet and reserved, it's all in the eyes and ironic smiles.
05:57 --> 06:05 [UNKNOWN]: He's not a confrontational person, depends what kind of person you are, introvert or extrovert, I'd react in a similar, unanimated way.
06:05 --> 06:08 [UNKNOWN]: Other characters like Sims might punch Victor's lights out.
06:10 --> 06:20 [UNKNOWN]: And Zatu, which he says, in my opinion, Daniel is reserved like me, so like you, I think it's much more fuss than it's worth, but opinions vary on the topic drastically.
06:20 --> 06:25 [UNKNOWN]: And for the other side of that, listen to where our male bag episode went.
06:26 --> 06:29 [UNKNOWN]: I don't think Sims would punch Vick, do I think he would push him down the stairs?
06:30 --> 06:31 [UNKNOWN]: Or over the stairs?
06:32 --> 06:35 [UNKNOWN]: That's hard to do, Sims were at that clinic.
06:35 --> 06:38 [UNKNOWN]: That's a nice, it's just kind of like drown him in the pond.
06:40 --> 06:43 [UNKNOWN]: As much more active though, it's probably a shallow pond.
06:43 --> 06:43 [UNKNOWN]: That's true.
06:46 --> 06:48 [UNKNOWN]: All right, let's get into the episode itself.
06:48 --> 06:53 [UNKNOWN]: Season three episode three, a dark web, slightly shorter this time at 48 minutes.
06:53 --> 06:57 [UNKNOWN]: It was released Friday, July 17th, 2026 on Apple TV.
06:58 --> 07:01 [UNKNOWN]: And this one, again, was directed by Michael Dinner.
07:01 --> 07:06 [UNKNOWN]: This is the final episode in his batch of episodes for this season.
07:06 --> 07:13 [UNKNOWN]: This one was written by Eric Avillino, who also wrote Season One episode six, the season two finale,
07:14 --> 07:22 [UNKNOWN]: season two episodes three and four and will direct this season in the next episode, uh, episode four and also five and seven.
07:23 --> 07:26 [UNKNOWN]: So very active on all sides, Eric Avellino.
07:28 --> 07:37 [UNKNOWN]: Of course, this is based on Hugh Howie's book series, wool shift and dust is the main series, plus I do recommend that reassured stories of those people get upset about the one of them.
07:39 --> 07:53 [UNKNOWN]: But this episode today that we're discussing is Juliette and Daniel are embroiled in parallel investigations across timelines as Juliette looks for Lucas in the silo 18 present timeline and investigation that plunges her into the menacing minds.
07:54 --> 07:59 [UNKNOWN]: In the past Daniel tries to learn more about the mysterious mission that his sister can no longer remember.
08:00 --> 08:02 [UNKNOWN]: Luke, what did you think about episode three?
08:03 --> 08:04 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, I'm gonna admit up front.
08:04 --> 08:07 [UNKNOWN]: There aren't many tin foil half theories.
08:08 --> 08:11 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, this episode, there's a distinct lack of tin foil.
08:11 --> 08:22 [UNKNOWN]: It's mostly just a lot of questions, particularly about what's going on with with Camille and Robert Sims and how the reset process
08:23 --> 08:24 [UNKNOWN]: works.
08:24 --> 08:44 [UNKNOWN]: I think that there's one scene in this episode that I think we got a lot of information where Camille and Roberts are talking to each other and I think it opens up a whole whole kind of worms in question about how this idea of the reset works.
08:45 --> 08:46 [UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
08:46 --> 08:46 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
08:47 --> 08:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
08:48 --> 08:53 [UNKNOWN]: I was surprised in that scene that Sim's nose as much as he does to be honest.
08:53 --> 08:55 [UNKNOWN]: Um, but then I thought about it.
08:55 --> 09:04 [UNKNOWN]: I was like, well, he did, he obviously knows about the memory drug because he was overseeing that with Gloria, he threatened, you know, or promised, I suppose, it's a Patrick Kennedy last season.
09:05 --> 09:08 [UNKNOWN]: Um, but I was really surprised that he knows what the deep bless is.
09:09 --> 09:18 [UNKNOWN]: Well, what I was thinking of, in episode 2, the algorithm says this has been attempted in six of the silos, including July 18 twice.
09:19 --> 09:20 [UNKNOWN]: And we sort of spec your lines.
09:20 --> 09:24 [UNKNOWN]: So far, they did it, they did it in the, well, Lisa, we know of.
09:24 --> 09:35 [UNKNOWN]: We know, and this, this is like the books, they, there was, yeah, there was a memory reset 140 years ago during that rebellion and then that's, it's supposed to be why it's been peaceful since.
09:36 --> 09:41 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and we sort of speculated what that might mean for the other 40 odd silos.
09:43 --> 09:43 [UNKNOWN]: Right, that we see us.
09:43 --> 09:45 [UNKNOWN]: So six had a reset.
09:45 --> 09:47 [UNKNOWN]: What about the rest?
09:47 --> 09:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
09:47 --> 09:48 [UNKNOWN]: What about the rest?
09:48 --> 09:50 [UNKNOWN]: And we said, does that mean that they didn't need a reset?
09:51 --> 09:52 [UNKNOWN]: Or did it only succeed in six?
09:53 --> 10:00 [UNKNOWN]: I think from what we've learned this episode that it might be that they were the 40-up silos really are extinct.
10:01 --> 10:06 [UNKNOWN]: Because this reset sounds like a very, we'll talk about it more and we get to that part of the episode.
10:07 --> 10:10 [UNKNOWN]: But this reset sounds like a very uncertain, uncertain thing
10:12 --> 10:30 [UNKNOWN]: it's it could be very likely to um you destroy a silo basically why wouldn't if it's agreed with their saying like that the reset destroys a silo basically I mean we'll talk about it obviously more shortly but um but basically that um he's saying
10:32 --> 10:37 [UNKNOWN]: if it doesn't work, it's either the reset or the safeguard.
10:37 --> 10:41 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, we know the safeguard is what happened to silo 17 to silo silo.
10:42 --> 10:58 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and I guess what I'm saying is, the odds, given what Camille and Robert say in that conversation, I think the odds of it not working, or the odds of it, the odds of it causing chaos in its white go up substantially.
10:59 --> 11:09 [UNKNOWN]: Um, but he said basically, he was urging her to do it more quickly because he's saying that it will make the chaos level go down.
11:10 --> 11:11 [UNKNOWN]: The algorithm is yeah.
11:11 --> 11:11 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
11:11 --> 11:15 [UNKNOWN]: The algorithm saying that and he's saying basically Juliet makes chaos go up.
11:15 --> 11:15 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
11:15 --> 11:17 [UNKNOWN]: Reset makes chaos go down.
11:17 --> 11:21 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not and yeah, I will we'll we'll talk about why when we get to it.
11:21 --> 11:22 [UNKNOWN]: But I don't think that I don't think that's
11:29 --> 11:31 [UNKNOWN]: Well, once again, we're burying the lead.
11:31 --> 11:33 [UNKNOWN]: Hurrah, I have saved another character.
11:35 --> 11:38 [UNKNOWN]: You have like, we in power, so with this stuff, Alicia.
11:39 --> 11:43 [UNKNOWN]: I just remember the characters and to have very good timing at mentioning them.
11:44 --> 11:46 [UNKNOWN]: So welcome back to our screens.
11:46 --> 11:47 [UNKNOWN]: Mark Chamber, who's full talk about him.
11:48 --> 11:50 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, when it's steampunk, we don't care.
11:50 --> 11:54 [UNKNOWN]: I want one, I want one, I want one.
11:55 --> 11:58 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so next up, I'm targeting Gloria.
11:59 --> 12:19 [UNKNOWN]: Gloria come on down what happened ever we last saw Gloria being tended to by nurse Amy who's now tending to Juliet and Sims was basically kind of blackmailing her to cooperate to get these drugs where she could just fantasize a better life for herself which I'm not sure
12:21 --> 12:28 [UNKNOWN]: if or how they are related to the other memory drugs, or if they're just like, I don't know, I'm not really sure.
12:29 --> 12:37 [UNKNOWN]: So I would love to know what happened with Gloria after that and how her drugs connect to all the other drugs and where is Gloria?
12:37 --> 12:38 [UNKNOWN]: That's my new question.
12:39 --> 12:39 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
12:40 --> 12:40 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
12:42 --> 12:44 [UNKNOWN]: All right, shall we get into the episode itself?
12:44 --> 12:45 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, let's.
12:46 --> 12:51 [UNKNOWN]: Your regularly scheduled breakdown will begin in three, two, one.
12:53 --> 13:05 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, as usual, we're going to be going more plot by plot then seen by scene today focusing first on the Daniel part of the timeline before moving on to what's going on in silo 18.
13:06 --> 13:12 [UNKNOWN]: And then as I mentioned, there will be that special extra section today where we talk about what we know about the minds from the first book.
13:13 --> 13:17 [UNKNOWN]: And then Abby and I will take that mind's discussion from there in the book club toilet cast.
13:18 --> 13:24 [UNKNOWN]: So, for this episode, let's begin in Daniel's world with making friends at funerals.
13:24 --> 13:32 [UNKNOWN]: Daniel, played by Ashley Zuckerman, visits the funeral of a man named Juan Almeda, Marceo Cruz.
13:32 --> 13:37 [UNKNOWN]: The leader of his sister Charlotte Squadron in that fatal mission in Iran.
13:37 --> 13:38 [UNKNOWN]: There, he
13:38 --> 13:49 [UNKNOWN]: At the funeral, he meets Juan's father James, Joseph Bolderama, who has his own suspicions about what the powers that be might be hiding about the mission that killed his son.
13:50 --> 13:55 [UNKNOWN]: Daniel mentions what Helen told him about the communication devices in their jets, being switched out.
13:56 --> 14:03 [UNKNOWN]: James already knew they'd been downgraded to comms discontinued even before his service a generation prior.
14:03 --> 14:11 [UNKNOWN]: A friend of James had handled the paperwork for the incident and he told him that there was a good chance their mission comms could have been recorded.
14:12 --> 14:14 [UNKNOWN]: So what did you think about funeral times?
14:15 --> 14:19 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it was, it was interesting.
14:20 --> 14:25 [UNKNOWN]: The seems to be a timeline in which
14:26 --> 14:34 [UNKNOWN]: there has been even more conflict than there has been in the there's been an hour time.
14:34 --> 14:35 [UNKNOWN]: Really?
14:35 --> 14:36 [UNKNOWN]: How's that?
14:37 --> 14:41 [UNKNOWN]: I sort of got that impression because he talks about desert storm.
14:41 --> 14:41 [UNKNOWN]: Uh-huh.
14:42 --> 14:49 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, and the fuel, which obviously, you know, yeah, is he do you want to set up desert storm for uh, yeah, anyone who doesn't or maybe
14:56 --> 15:06 [UNKNOWN]: Um, is the code name for the operation that liberated Kuwait from Iraqi occupation in 1991.
15:06 --> 15:13 [UNKNOWN]: So, it's another who's saying Iraqi dictator invades neighbouring state Kuwait in August 1990.
15:17 --> 15:32 [UNKNOWN]: And a multinational coalition under UN leadership basically reverses that occupation kicks the Iraqis out of Kuwait and a war that lasts doing the maths about eight weeks.
15:33 --> 15:37 [UNKNOWN]: and the land war lasts four days, 100 hours.
15:38 --> 15:47 [UNKNOWN]: And there will be a book that talks about this in some detail coming out to all good stockings, probably in time for Christmas.
15:48 --> 15:49 [UNKNOWN]: Oh really by whom?
15:50 --> 15:58 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, by me, by Docs on the University of St. Andrews, this is chapters 3 and 4 of that book actually.
15:59 --> 16:00 [UNKNOWN]: and what's the title?
16:00 --> 16:06 [UNKNOWN]: So the title is Britain and Iraq from Revelation from Revelation to War 1958 to 2003.
16:09 --> 16:24 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, it's very interesting that this is, I'm gonna say that, I think, I mean, already know, we already had this sense before this season, that the timeline of this show is they're making it closer to our own timeline, rather than the timeline that's spelled out in the books.
16:25 --> 16:29 [UNKNOWN]: I think probably this also just has to do with ease of,
16:30 --> 16:33 [UNKNOWN]: talking about our real world and filming in our real world and things like that.
16:33 --> 16:43 [UNKNOWN]: So but what we learn is that one was they moved to DC right after James got back from Desert Storm.
16:43 --> 16:51 [UNKNOWN]: So that would have been in their early 90s and one was quote unquote a little boy.
16:52 --> 16:53 [UNKNOWN]: So we don't know exactly how
16:55 --> 16:58 [UNKNOWN]: He looked to be in his 30s during his mission, I shot that, right?
16:59 --> 17:13 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so that puts it, I would say, no later than about 2028, 2029, very late, the very latest, probably not even that far ahead, so basically, this is contemporary.
17:14 --> 17:19 [UNKNOWN]: The first goal for the 1991 goal for, is the first conflict I can really remember.
17:19 --> 17:20 [UNKNOWN]: How about you, Alicia?
17:21 --> 17:24 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I think, I mean, I certainly remember it.
17:24 --> 17:38 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I'll say my, my older sister was in the military and, uh, not during desert, after desert storm, she, um, yeah, that's when I, I said that she was an air traffic controller
17:45 --> 18:01 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, no, I definitely, it is interesting because I mean, I think we're about the same age as you, how we, I'm not sure exactly how old he is, but I think that we were shaped by the same conflicts of our childhood with that were sort of our gateways of learning about the world of war.
18:01 --> 18:05 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, so I'm I'm 42, so I was eight.
18:05 --> 18:06 [UNKNOWN]: Uh-huh.
18:06 --> 18:17 [UNKNOWN]: When, um, I was, I, when the purge got more habit and being the, being the young and impressionable nerd that I was, I insisted on washing the news before I went to school every moment.
18:17 --> 18:18 [UNKNOWN]: Every moment.
18:19 --> 18:22 [UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, I was always going to grow up to do what I do.
18:22 --> 18:23 [UNKNOWN]: It was pretty odd that
18:26 --> 18:28 [UNKNOWN]: So it's far as like the timeline.
18:28 --> 18:42 [UNKNOWN]: There was a theory that I was reluctant to say, but I don't see there's why I shouldn't say it, that this room code for the algorithm, it's 552039, and people were theorizing, is that an important date?
18:42 --> 18:45 [UNKNOWN]: So fifth of fifth of May, 29.
18:45 --> 18:45 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
18:47 --> 19:00 [UNKNOWN]: Which would be, but does that, I mean, it feels like, and it's also, you know, not to say that there, there's probably years that play out between where we are in the timeline and whatever importance this date might have.
19:03 --> 19:07 [UNKNOWN]: Although I'll say it's even earlier than I expected based on what we learned in this episode from one's funeral.
19:08 --> 19:08 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
19:10 --> 19:18 [UNKNOWN]: And this 2039 is more like 2050 something in the books, which doesn't really matter, it doesn't change anything to be honest.
19:18 --> 19:22 [UNKNOWN]: I think they're just anchoring it more to our real times.
19:23 --> 19:28 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I think like you say, I know, so there's the practical reason that it makes it easier to fill as well.
19:28 --> 19:28 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
19:29 --> 19:29 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
19:29 --> 19:29 [UNKNOWN]: That's true.
19:32 --> 19:38 [UNKNOWN]: But yes, we learned that once Father James has been out of the military for nearly 20 years.
19:38 --> 19:43 [UNKNOWN]: And also, it sounds like his wife, Ali, he calls her in the credits.
19:43 --> 19:44 [UNKNOWN]: There's an Alessandra.
19:44 --> 19:48 [UNKNOWN]: I assume that's her play by Carmen Abela, the woman standing next to him on stage.
19:49 --> 20:06 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I assume that's one's mother and apparently she was also over four tour in the 90s so that they're like a really a military family and James, you know, he sees the captain of the Nimitz and is like, you know, I've been out 20 years and still like straight enough.
20:06 --> 20:12 [UNKNOWN]: So a lot of emphasis on this being a family of real, you know, military men so to speak.
20:12 --> 20:31 [UNKNOWN]: So, so one of the things I do in my job is I'm the convener of the Strategic Studies Master this program at San Andrews and what that means is we got a lot of a lot of junior career military people taking a year out to go and get an academic qualification.
20:31 --> 20:40 [UNKNOWN]: And it's always really funny to watch them dress in civilian clothes, because you can still pick them out on mile away.
20:41 --> 20:49 [UNKNOWN]: They just walk different, like sit up, straight, like even though they're out of uniform and not out of uniform.
20:49 --> 20:50 [UNKNOWN]: The body remembers.
20:51 --> 20:51 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
20:52 --> 20:58 [UNKNOWN]: And like I say, they're just sort of taking the young, you know, taking a career break.
20:59 --> 21:06 [UNKNOWN]: So sort of dress your carkey trousers, you know, much more formal than the rest of the class.
21:06 --> 21:08 [UNKNOWN]: Because that's just what they're comfortable with.
21:08 --> 21:09 [UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
21:09 --> 21:09 [UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
21:12 --> 21:18 [UNKNOWN]: Since I mentioned the captain of the Nimitz, should we mention who was with the captain of the Nimitz?
21:18 --> 21:18 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, that's.
21:20 --> 21:33 [UNKNOWN]: read Bernie back again so that's a name of the actor and we've seen him so far at the guy who was maybe following Charlotte on the Metro in DC.
21:34 --> 21:42 [UNKNOWN]: We saw him inside the stenton clinic watching Charlotte as she sort of broke down because Helen was triggering memories.
21:43 --> 21:45 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and then we see him twice this episode.
21:45 --> 21:47 [UNKNOWN]: So this is the first of two times.
21:47 --> 21:56 [UNKNOWN]: Now we still haven't learned anything about him, but I'll say his he's credited with a first name, no last name yet, but he's credited with the first name Henry.
21:56 --> 21:58 [UNKNOWN]: So we'll just call him Henry.
21:58 --> 22:00 [UNKNOWN]: Do you think Henry?
22:01 --> 22:02 [UNKNOWN]: Thoughts about Henry.
22:03 --> 22:08 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but I think he's not a big deal, but I didn't really follow the story about the bug.
22:10 --> 22:23 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, I don't think that I think that was just like yeah, just color, you know, like oh my son, you know, he was a specific person with a specific personality who like these burgers that I don't like but I'm going to have one of those burgers.
22:23 --> 22:25 [UNKNOWN]: I don't like in his honor today.
22:25 --> 22:32 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I didn't, yeah, I just thought it was something to do with some of the story to tell our way, but I didn't really follow the story.
22:33 --> 22:35 [UNKNOWN]: No, no, I mean, it wasn't anything important.
22:35 --> 22:50 [UNKNOWN]: It was just remembering, I think when you lose someone, you remember, I think there's a lot of things that maybe at the time you're like, oh, I wish you didn't eat onions or whatever, make sure resting or something like that.
22:50 --> 22:52 [UNKNOWN]: But then, all right, here's one.
22:52 --> 22:58 [UNKNOWN]: When Robin Williams character talks in goodwill hunting about his wife.
22:58 --> 22:59 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
23:00 --> 23:11 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and it's just one of those things like at the time you're like, oh, this is like the annoying thing you do, but afterwards you're like, oh, what would I give to just be next to you farting and bed again?
23:11 --> 23:15 [UNKNOWN]: What would I give just for you to be eating this disgusting burger again?
23:15 --> 23:17 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I think that's what the point that we're trying to like.
23:18 --> 23:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
23:19 --> 23:19 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
23:21 --> 23:29 [UNKNOWN]: I do question, so it looks like Charlotte and Juan, and also based on when James said they were not just in the same unit together, but they were close friends.
23:30 --> 23:37 [UNKNOWN]: So that makes me wonder whether, especially since Daniel seems to maybe be working with James Juan's dad.
23:39 --> 23:45 [UNKNOWN]: It makes me wonder if there will be any artifacts that turn up from that side that helped trigger Charlotte's memories.
23:45 --> 23:46 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I think there's a very good chance.
23:49 --> 23:56 [UNKNOWN]: Because, you have to think that these people are squadron mates would spend an awful lot of time together.
23:57 --> 23:58 [UNKNOWN]: You know, a lot of time together.
24:00 --> 24:00 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
24:01 --> 24:03 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and obviously... No.
24:03 --> 24:04 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not sorry.
24:04 --> 24:05 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not just in a work environment.
24:06 --> 24:09 [UNKNOWN]: they would socialize a lot together as well.
24:09 --> 24:09 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
24:09 --> 24:10 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
24:10 --> 24:17 [UNKNOWN]: And something that triggers a memory of him, it's different than triggering a memory of Donald will be separate from her mission.
24:17 --> 24:25 [UNKNOWN]: But triggering a memory of him will likely link up to that web of memories that shakes something loose on the mission as well.
24:26 --> 24:26 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
24:28 --> 24:40 [UNKNOWN]: it was interesting that we were told Helen had implied when she explained it to Donald that the comms device on their jets was switched out for security reasons to make them more secure.
24:40 --> 24:43 [UNKNOWN]: So they weren't couldn't be like hacked through high tech.
24:44 --> 24:58 [UNKNOWN]: But now we have pointed out in this episode that actually it makes the recordings themselves less secure because now they can just kind of be picked up by anyone who's listening.
24:58 --> 25:04 [UNKNOWN]: And so yeah, so Donald asks at the funeral, well, why would they do that?
25:05 --> 25:07 [UNKNOWN]: And James says prevent jamming.
25:07 --> 25:08 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know,
25:13 --> 25:23 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, if they would, it would be easier to, I was going to say it would be easier to record, but that's not quite right.
25:24 --> 25:52 [UNKNOWN]: it would be easier to record and have something that was intelligible because you can pick that for sort of more advanced aircraft, you can pick, you can still record stuff, but it's very heavily encrypted communication, so unless you have some really powerful software, I'm sort of working away at it, all you're going to hear is a series of clicks and whistles basically.
25:55 --> 26:12 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, but let's, if we go along with their explanation about the security or lack thereof, why if it wasn't about, you know, if it actually exposed them to be more easily easy to record, why would they do it?
26:14 --> 26:16 [UNKNOWN]: Well, if my theory about aliens is right,
26:17 --> 26:22 [UNKNOWN]: you want to make it as, uh, you want to make it as analog as possible.
26:22 --> 26:27 [UNKNOWN]: So the aliens can't interfere with the software can't take control of the planes.
26:28 --> 26:31 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, for hacking more so then appearing.
26:31 --> 26:31 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
26:32 --> 26:33 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
26:33 --> 26:38 [UNKNOWN]: That was, that was, that was, that was where my, that was when my nine went anyway.
26:39 --> 26:39 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
26:40 --> 26:50 [UNKNOWN]: So, I mean, so even if it's not aliens, then that would apply that it makes them easier to hack, rather yes, that maybe that's with their prioritizing over listening in.
26:50 --> 26:50 [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
26:51 --> 26:51 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
26:52 --> 27:04 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and then we also hear that James is friend told him he's he was like, yeah, I did the paperwork and like it's weird that they did this because anyone could have recorded it, but don't think about the recording that I just told you could be out there existed.
27:14 --> 27:16 [UNKNOWN]: want to hear the recording?
27:16 --> 27:17 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, absolutely.
27:18 --> 27:18 [UNKNOWN]: Absolutely.
27:19 --> 27:21 [UNKNOWN]: It's like that thing of don't look over there.
27:21 --> 27:23 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, don't think they're about to take care of us.
27:23 --> 27:24 [UNKNOWN]: What do you think of you?
27:24 --> 27:25 [UNKNOWN]: I guess so.
27:26 --> 27:28 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, if you didn't want them to think about it, don't tell him.
27:28 --> 27:29 [UNKNOWN]: But I would want to know.
27:29 --> 27:31 [UNKNOWN]: And why I always want to know everything.
27:31 --> 27:32 [UNKNOWN]: And like, tell me.
27:32 --> 27:32 [UNKNOWN]: I'm the son.
27:34 --> 27:37 [UNKNOWN]: So, OK, that was an interesting choice.
27:38 --> 27:40 [UNKNOWN]: Any more thoughts about those funeral sequence?
27:41 --> 27:41 [UNKNOWN]: Nope.
27:42 --> 27:48 [UNKNOWN]: Alright, well let's take a quick break here and when we come back, let's check in on Helen about to get fired.
27:48 --> 27:49 [UNKNOWN]: Be right back.
27:51 --> 27:53 [UNKNOWN]: Alright, smart rag, no more.
27:54 --> 28:03 [UNKNOWN]: Helen Drew, Jessica Henwick, slinks into work, brazenly working on her own, quote-unquote, serious story, rather than whatever slops she was assigned to push out for clicks.
28:04 --> 28:09 [UNKNOWN]: She takes a call from Daniel, who fills her in on his meeting with Juan's father at the funeral.
28:09 --> 28:15 [UNKNOWN]: And Daniel admits he wouldn't know where to begin looking for the mission recordings on the dark web.
28:15 --> 28:16 [UNKNOWN]: But Helen says she does.
28:17 --> 28:23 [UNKNOWN]: Helen hangs up and is reprimanded by her boss Philip, Charlie Ensin, who fires her on the spot.
28:23 --> 28:29 [UNKNOWN]: Her belongings have already been packed in a box, and security is waiting for escort her out.
28:30 --> 28:36 [UNKNOWN]: And we'll say this is the second time we see Reed Bernie, aka the character apparently named Henry.
28:36 --> 28:37 [UNKNOWN]: Thoughts.
28:39 --> 28:41 [UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, I mean,
28:43 --> 28:48 [UNKNOWN]: I did think it was kind of cool that the outlets, Helen is working for, is called Zodze.
28:48 --> 28:50 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, tell me which is why?
28:50 --> 29:02 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, because Caitlin Zodze plays Kathleen Billing so, I just thought that's clearly with that clearly, where that came from, I see you put in the notes because I was going to make the same point.
29:02 --> 29:05 [UNKNOWN]: This looks more like a post 2009 crash.
29:07 --> 29:30 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I specifically put 2012 because so for anyone who doesn't know my background is in more entertainment, lifestyle and culture journalism and so I am of the generation that started you know working for actual magazines and then 2012 was the year that within a month
29:33 --> 30:00 [UNKNOWN]: All the magazines that I wrote for, I was working full time for Time Mount Amsterdam, and also doing freelance work for other magazines, and they all collapsed within a month, and then I found out that it wasn't just in Amsterdam, it was actually a global thing that happened in 2012 and 2013, that was really when all of the paper stuff started to really go online, which changed things for us journalists, but.
30:01 --> 30:19 [UNKNOWN]: Things have been a lot worse, I'll say, 10 years later when AI hit that it was actually I like now I was so when obviously 2012 was a really scary time for me and then you know I found my footing again doing you know I went from getting
30:19 --> 30:34 [UNKNOWN]: paid trips and meals that I got to write long think pieces about to doing listicles for a lot less money and that was a major hit but now I really am nostalgic for those days after ten years later we were hit by AI and
30:37 --> 30:40 [UNKNOWN]: things have gotten much, much, much worse since then.
30:41 --> 30:44 [UNKNOWN]: So Helen, that's another thing, like about dating this.
30:45 --> 30:50 [UNKNOWN]: Helen does not seem to be in that environment post AI.
30:50 --> 30:55 [UNKNOWN]: She seems to be in the post 2012 Paper Media Crash.
30:56 --> 30:58 [UNKNOWN]: Where, yes, it's annoying.
30:58 --> 31:05 [UNKNOWN]: And you're doing like these clickbait articles, but at least there is a full buzz in newsroom there.
31:08 --> 31:24 [UNKNOWN]: Hmm, also I felt for her when I've seen that happen to someone before where they were fired and had to hand over a laptop without warning and it's like, oh, yikes, and this is why this is why I've never taken a work laptop like, um,
31:25 --> 31:39 [UNKNOWN]: You can take my write a, you know, my write to access certain, uh, like clouds based stuff away, but People put personal stuff in their laptop, and then suddenly they're just confiscating on the spot like yikes.
31:40 --> 31:42 [UNKNOWN]: What did you think about?
31:42 --> 31:44 [UNKNOWN]: Do you think it was fair that you got fired?
31:48 --> 32:02 [UNKNOWN]: I mean probably, but I don't like anybody getting fired for anything, and I certainly don't like people, there's no process there, there's no like, it's just like you're fired, get out.
32:02 --> 32:03 [UNKNOWN]: I don't like that.
32:06 --> 32:10 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, no, I mean, you know, that's the typical American, right?
32:11 --> 32:26 [UNKNOWN]: But I was also, you know, I was like, listen, I understand it sucks that you have to write this, this song that that's what you're paid to do now instead of actually engaging your brain and writing things that you care about.
32:27 --> 32:37 [UNKNOWN]: But, that is a child that you were hired for, even Andy from the Devil Wears Prada 2 gets that when she needs to find stories that are both interests.
32:37 --> 32:46 [UNKNOWN]: Like again, just be like, oh, you want me to write a gossip mag thing, but no, actually I'm going to write a think piece about war.
32:46 --> 32:50 [UNKNOWN]: Like, I'm sorry, that's what publication do you think you work for right now?
32:50 --> 32:54 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know, but I mean also what she's being asked to write sounds really scary.
32:54 --> 32:56 [UNKNOWN]: It's about the sex life.
32:57 --> 33:01 [UNKNOWN]: The sex lives of people who claim to be celibate, but I don't.
33:01 --> 33:04 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, absolutely.
33:04 --> 33:05 [UNKNOWN]: That's been a major issue.
33:07 --> 33:17 [UNKNOWN]: Like I said, you don't get to write about the things that you care about or think you're important or even feel good about that's what's been happening ever since 2012, especially, but then especially since 2022.
33:19 --> 33:39 [UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, so I feel for her on that, but it is also like, you've got to find a way, you're just being really blatantly working on something else, but the fact that, that Henry's there, the read Bernie character is like, well, maybe she's not wrong about that they're being something nefarious behind it.
33:40 --> 33:42 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and maybe that was not the reason she was fired.
33:43 --> 33:57 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and I do, I do love the suggestion that it's nefarious government influences, making the media just produce fluff and not this stupidity of people.
33:57 --> 34:03 [UNKNOWN]: But I wrote here, it's basically Panama, a consensus.
34:03 --> 34:04 [UNKNOWN]: Do you, what is that?
34:04 --> 34:05 [UNKNOWN]: Bradden circuses.
34:07 --> 34:07 [UNKNOWN]: elaborate.
34:08 --> 34:20 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I'd say it's the Roman practice of the ledgeroman practice of trying to distract people from paying attention to what's going on by giving them cheap food and entertainment.
34:21 --> 34:24 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, it's documented Roman times and since.
34:25 --> 34:25 [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
34:26 --> 34:28 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, people who were like, Panam is in that one.
34:28 --> 34:29 [UNKNOWN]: The Hunger Games is called yes.
34:29 --> 34:31 [UNKNOWN]: That's exactly why it's called that.
34:31 --> 34:33 [UNKNOWN]: It's the whole gladiator.
34:33 --> 34:33 [UNKNOWN]: That's what
34:38 --> 34:38 [UNKNOWN]: the idea.
34:39 --> 34:56 [UNKNOWN]: I'm tickled by the idea that in this story universe, nefarious government or medical interests, we're not really sure who this Henry guy is yet, but they are influencing the media to just make Slop to distract people.
34:58 --> 34:59 [UNKNOWN]: Sounds about, right?
34:59 --> 34:59 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
35:02 --> 35:13 [UNKNOWN]: Alright, let's go in a road trip with Helen has found something or someone at least so she and Daniel take a little road trip to meet a hacker going by the name Steve Ed Coleman.
35:13 --> 35:29 [UNKNOWN]: He's found something and insists they come in person to get the information but it turns out to be a ruse to get a copy of Daniel's congressional ID and then he plans to screw them over on his end of the deal merely confirming the existence of such a recording and nothing more.
35:30 --> 35:36 [UNKNOWN]: But one to Daniel tells him his sister is one of the voices on the recording, Steve Rolens and let's them listen.
35:37 --> 35:38 [UNKNOWN]: So would you think of Steve?
35:39 --> 35:42 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, sketchy is hat like just Uber sketchy.
35:44 --> 35:51 [UNKNOWN]: And also, you reminded me, he's got the same haircut as Anton Chagur in no country for old men.
35:52 --> 35:54 [UNKNOWN]: And that is the haircut, psychopaths.
35:56 --> 36:00 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I think he's definitely, he's a conspiracy theorist character.
36:00 --> 36:06 [UNKNOWN]: I'll say a shout out, Gail and Blue Sky commented on our feedback posts.
36:06 --> 36:09 [UNKNOWN]: Don't let Luke read what's on the hacker guy's screen.
36:09 --> 36:16 [UNKNOWN]: If you pause it just before he goes to his chess game, one of the comments is about an extra, as about extra terrestrial.
36:16 --> 36:22 [UNKNOWN]: Well then, I know I'm going to go into it again, that's like telling me not to think about the comments.
36:23 --> 36:30 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I'll say anyone who wants to see it, I did post that screen in the chat and we'll tell you, I'll tell you, summarize, for you, what's on that screen right now.
36:31 --> 36:41 [UNKNOWN]: It says, yeah, the abyss, I think the abyss might be the name of the, like, the chat board where they're talking about conspiracy theories, but the title of this post is mass whale deaths.
36:41 --> 36:42 [UNKNOWN]: What really happened?
36:43 --> 36:51 [UNKNOWN]: And so they say there's just a discussion about apparently a bunch of whale deaths somewhere in the Atlantic.
36:51 --> 36:58 [UNKNOWN]: And so one person says, ex-Navy guy said they're testing acoustic crowd control tech underwater.
36:59 --> 37:07 [UNKNOWN]: Someone else said it was near underwater volcanoes and they had an unexpected reaction and that there were booms over the Atlantic a month ago.
37:08 --> 37:15 [UNKNOWN]: Someone else mentions a leaked document from 2004 about acoustic propagation tests.
37:16 --> 37:23 [UNKNOWN]: Someone says they're pumping electromagnetic frequencies into the atmosphere that can destabilize entire ecosystems.
37:23 --> 37:26 [UNKNOWN]: Someone else posits extraterrestrials.
37:26 --> 37:35 [UNKNOWN]: Someone else references general unrest, wars, collapsing economies, and says the Earth is just lashing back against humanity.
37:39 --> 37:43 [UNKNOWN]: So keeping in mind these are from from conspiracy theorists boards.
37:44 --> 37:52 [UNKNOWN]: So there's probably some kernel of truth somewhere in some of those with many grains of salt you should be doing if you don't have this.
37:53 --> 37:55 [UNKNOWN]: That's aliens.
37:55 --> 37:57 [UNKNOWN]: It's aliens.
37:57 --> 37:58 [UNKNOWN]: What if it's not though?
37:58 --> 38:03 [UNKNOWN]: Let's let's do always you can say aliens, but let's also say what if it's not?
38:04 --> 38:23 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, what if it's not, it could, I mean, it could be the what the fuck cloud I suppose could be some kind of natural phenomenon, you know, it could be the, it could be the earth, the earth, basically trying to heal from, from, you know, the presence of humanity, I guess.
38:25 --> 38:27 [UNKNOWN]: It could be any of those things that were mentioned.
38:27 --> 38:33 [UNKNOWN]: But what, what would it, why would it look like an oil that like flies in little bits?
38:33 --> 38:38 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know, it's aliens, I'm sorry, I just caught me off the alien.
38:38 --> 38:39 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, okay, okay.
38:40 --> 38:40 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
38:45 --> 39:00 [UNKNOWN]: And I'll say that Steve was also playing, we saw of a chat where someone, he got in DM from somebody called uperizer, seven, two, four, it says, I, M, B, tracked you.
39:00 --> 39:02 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not really sure what that means.
39:02 --> 39:03 [UNKNOWN]: If anyone has thought about that.
39:04 --> 39:05 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, no, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't.
39:06 --> 39:08 [UNKNOWN]: But then he turns to the chessboard.
39:08 --> 39:10 [UNKNOWN]: So I don't know if it has to do with that.
39:11 --> 39:19 [UNKNOWN]: And we see that it looks like he's called X-File X-13, I think, and the other players called Bigfoot Lives.
39:19 --> 39:21 [UNKNOWN]: And this is someone he's playing chess with.
39:21 --> 39:29 [UNKNOWN]: And my crackpot theory now for lack of anything else is what if the person he's playing chess with, who kidnapped him later?
39:29 --> 39:31 [UNKNOWN]: We'll talk about that later, obviously.
39:31 --> 39:31 [UNKNOWN]: OK.
39:33 --> 39:35 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, interesting, it mentions the X files.
39:35 --> 39:40 [UNKNOWN]: This is did put me in mind of the lone gunman, character from the X files.
39:40 --> 39:44 [UNKNOWN]: The three sort of hack and nerds from the X files.
39:44 --> 39:47 [UNKNOWN]: The Molder and Scully will go to from time to time.
39:48 --> 39:56 [UNKNOWN]: The help with anything technical, although the difference being that they were nice, generally cooperative, rather than being Dix, uh, yeah.
39:57 --> 40:00 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, Steve is a real character.
40:00 --> 40:09 [UNKNOWN]: He says he's not working for anyone just one of many like men, minded individuals, holding government fuckers like you accountable by intercepting communications men.
40:13 --> 40:22 [UNKNOWN]: I mean it's one thing to say that in another thing to like demand like I'm going to copy your ID, which is feels like it's inevitably going to get him in trouble
40:26 --> 40:32 [UNKNOWN]: And he also, like, asked him to turn over their phones when they entered him, like, did he drink some data from there?
40:32 --> 40:35 [UNKNOWN]: And then he wasn't even going to let them listen to the recording.
40:35 --> 40:37 [UNKNOWN]: No, he's just telling them that it existed.
40:38 --> 40:43 [UNKNOWN]: He's like, yeah, they're intermediary who's apparently some guy named Byron should have been more specific.
40:43 --> 40:46 [UNKNOWN]: And like, well, fuck by and double fuck you Steve.
40:47 --> 40:49 [UNKNOWN]: So presumably that was a contact that Helen has.
40:50 --> 40:52 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, or someone she found on the dark way.
40:52 --> 41:04 [UNKNOWN]: When or, yeah, I do wonder, like, I say the name Byron, we'll see if that's just a throwaway name that never comes up again, or if that is like a contact she has who helps them find other things.
41:06 --> 41:12 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and yeah, and he, I do think Steve is not very smart for having them come there though.
41:12 --> 41:17 [UNKNOWN]: He threatens to mess with their search histories if they tell anyone about this place.
41:17 --> 41:25 [UNKNOWN]: But it feels like he, if he were really being percussed, he should have just had the meat in a public place and brought his laptop.
41:27 --> 41:29 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but then he wouldn't have had the recording.
41:30 --> 41:33 [UNKNOWN]: I don't so like they wouldn't have been able to go back there.
41:33 --> 41:38 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, also I get the impression that he's probably quite a graphic.
41:39 --> 41:39 [UNKNOWN]: A gorephobic.
41:40 --> 41:40 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
41:42 --> 41:42 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
41:42 --> 41:44 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, maybe.
41:44 --> 41:44 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
41:46 --> 41:47 [UNKNOWN]: We're just missing Thropic.
41:48 --> 41:49 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, possibly.
41:49 --> 41:51 [UNKNOWN]: And like I said, he has the untone sugar.
41:52 --> 41:54 [UNKNOWN]: Hey, cut, so that's the hair cut of the wrong end.
41:55 --> 42:07 [UNKNOWN]: And yeah, well, I'll say I'm not impressed by his conspiracy theory skills, because he didn't even notice the Daniel and Charlotte have the same last name until it's pointed out to him.
42:08 --> 42:09 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's true.
42:10 --> 42:13 [UNKNOWN]: That's true, I couldn't shoot it up, but yeah.
42:13 --> 42:14 [UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
42:15 --> 42:16 [UNKNOWN]: That's a pretty big one.
42:19 --> 42:20 [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
42:20 --> 42:20 [UNKNOWN]: So, okay.
42:21 --> 42:27 [UNKNOWN]: So this recording that they hear, first of all, Helen doesn't think Daniel should hear it.
42:27 --> 42:34 [UNKNOWN]: Like I would, this is where we see a spark of Daniel backbone, where he's like, there's no way I'm not listening to that.
42:34 --> 42:37 [UNKNOWN]: I'm like, yeah, I would be even angry or about it.
42:37 --> 42:40 [UNKNOWN]: Then he's like, yeah, I'm going to tell you, listen to it first.
42:41 --> 43:05 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, don't police me on stuff like this, but okay so as far as what they heard we know it's only 20 seconds but I did pull there is on YouTube there's a whole clip of that of that mission including the comms so I pulled and clipped it down to just the just what we hear on the comms and the sound effects obviously.
43:06 --> 43:08 [UNKNOWN]: Um, so they only heard 20 seconds of it.
43:09 --> 43:12 [UNKNOWN]: I'm guessing it's the last 20 seconds, but here's everything that's said.
43:42 --> 43:47 [UNKNOWN]: I made a fool, I've got something weird on my hands with a bow.
43:47 --> 43:49 [UNKNOWN]: Freedom won't!
43:49 --> 43:56 [UNKNOWN]: Looks like a wheel!
43:56 --> 43:56 [UNKNOWN]: Leader 3, y'all gotta chew!
43:56 --> 43:57 [UNKNOWN]: What is it?
43:57 --> 43:57 [UNKNOWN]: Leader 1, on the horn!
44:23 --> 44:28 [UNKNOWN]: So I'll link the full video clip in the show notes, it's just on the Apple TV YouTube channel.
44:28 --> 44:34 [UNKNOWN]: But I'm guessing it was the most dramatic 20 seconds of that conveniently, presumably, right?
44:35 --> 44:36 [UNKNOWN]: presumably, yeah.
44:39 --> 45:00 [UNKNOWN]: When I watched the episode, I didn't get the rate of one I'm armed, but I didn't hear that, which is interesting, because that might suggest that the cloud or whatever it is is are like setting off the fusing for missiles or bombs or whatever ordinance they were carrying.
45:00 --> 45:12 [UNKNOWN]: I just thought it was the cloud got into the intake valves of the engines and sort of an oil messed with the internal mechanics of the plane and that's what caused them to explode.
45:13 --> 45:18 [UNKNOWN]: But if he's saying I'm armed, that possibly indicates that.
45:19 --> 45:26 [UNKNOWN]: Whatever that cloud did, it messed with the ordinance, the bombs, missiles, whatever aboard the aircraft, which is interesting.
45:27 --> 45:34 [UNKNOWN]: Wait, so you think that they're saying that that pilot is saying they did not intend to be armed, but the thing turned it on?
45:34 --> 45:45 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it's possible what I'm saying is it's possible that they were, that they're basically a mess with the payload, that it armed, that it armed a bomb on a missile that was in Earth.
45:47 --> 45:47 [UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
45:48 --> 45:48 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
45:48 --> 45:48 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
45:49 --> 45:51 [UNKNOWN]: I didn't consider that, but okay.
45:51 --> 45:51 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
45:51 --> 45:51 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
45:51 --> 45:51 [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
45:52 --> 46:00 [UNKNOWN]: That I knew you think that that would just be like from interaction from it or something intentional or
46:01 --> 46:03 [UNKNOWN]: Who knows, either is either is entirely closed?
46:04 --> 46:05 [UNKNOWN]: Hmm, creepy either way.
46:06 --> 46:07 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, creepy.
46:08 --> 46:09 [UNKNOWN]: Creepy, I'm lethal.
46:09 --> 46:11 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, well, certainly lethal.
46:11 --> 46:13 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
46:13 --> 46:26 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know how much you know about radio communications like this, but I was surprised to hear it was recorded by someone in Maldova, which is not especially close to the Iran Turkmenistan border, which is where we had heard before that they were.
46:27 --> 46:28 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but I mean,
46:29 --> 46:34 [UNKNOWN]: I don't really know enough about the technology it involved to be able to say whether that's where it or not.
46:35 --> 46:35 [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
46:37 --> 46:37 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
46:37 --> 46:40 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know if anyone does, please write in and let us know.
46:42 --> 46:47 [UNKNOWN]: But we heard that it was taken off line five minutes after posted, but Steve recorded a cassette.
46:47 --> 46:52 [UNKNOWN]: So another retro technology piece, he said, I only fuck with analog if I can help it.
46:54 --> 46:57 [UNKNOWN]: It's interesting that it's, can you even buy those anymore?
46:57 --> 46:58 [UNKNOWN]: Cassette?
46:58 --> 46:58 [UNKNOWN]: Sure.
46:58 --> 47:01 [UNKNOWN]: We're not sure.
47:01 --> 47:09 [UNKNOWN]: But it is interesting that both the conspiracy theory and the government is on the same page about rolling back the technological developments.
47:10 --> 47:11 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
47:11 --> 47:19 [UNKNOWN]: even though I'll say he this is also a guy who has like full panel of like computer monitors and scanners and blah blah blah so.
47:20 --> 47:22 [UNKNOWN]: He can't really be so whole year than that on that.
47:25 --> 47:30 [UNKNOWN]: Um, what did you think though of just about the road tripping part?
47:30 --> 47:33 [UNKNOWN]: What did you think about the interactions between Daniel and Helen this episode?
47:33 --> 47:37 [UNKNOWN]: Well, like you put in the show notes, I got like about Florence and the machine.
47:37 --> 47:44 [UNKNOWN]: You know, I was doing the the Duke box soundtrack for this season with the, the Pete Gabriel and the Florence and the machine.
47:44 --> 47:46 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I very much, I approve.
47:47 --> 47:48 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I can't look.
47:49 --> 47:54 [UNKNOWN]: I do think it's always shipped to wreck by Florence in the machine, which was released in 2015, by the way.
47:54 --> 47:55 [UNKNOWN]: So another dating piece.
47:55 --> 47:58 [UNKNOWN]: Would we think, um, was that that was Helen's challenge?
47:58 --> 48:00 [UNKNOWN]: That was Helen's, yeah, that was Helen's.
48:00 --> 48:01 [UNKNOWN]: It was Helen's car.
48:01 --> 48:02 [UNKNOWN]: Well true.
48:02 --> 48:03 [UNKNOWN]: True, true, true, true.
48:03 --> 48:03 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
48:04 --> 48:05 [UNKNOWN]: What do you think Daniel listens to?
48:08 --> 48:16 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know, I've been getting with the Georgia background probably a bit of a country in Western.
48:16 --> 48:17 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you think, maybe.
48:17 --> 48:18 [UNKNOWN]: Maybe.
48:18 --> 48:24 [UNKNOWN]: I hope that he surprises us that it's like death metal to unleash.
48:24 --> 48:27 [UNKNOWN]: Because sometimes death metal fans are like the quiet introverts.
48:27 --> 48:32 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, just need to get some stuff out of the system, yeah.
48:35 --> 48:36 [UNKNOWN]: What else did you think?
48:37 --> 48:53 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I really like the bit about some Helen talking about being fired and Daniel does what he what the very Daniel thing of well, you know, you didn't really like your job, but they three people tend to notice that and they're like, and Helen's just really pissed on her.
48:53 --> 48:56 [UNKNOWN]: And then Daniel does that, I think he does it as a joke.
48:56 --> 48:58 [UNKNOWN]: Oh no, Helen, it's awful.
48:58 --> 48:58 [UNKNOWN]: Oh shit.
49:00 --> 49:05 [UNKNOWN]: That was, you know, because he was like on the one hand she was like, it's so weird.
49:05 --> 49:12 [UNKNOWN]: I was fired and he has like the natural just not thinking full in mouth response of like, Did you do a good job?
49:12 --> 49:13 [UNKNOWN]: Because he said you didn't like it.
49:14 --> 49:16 [UNKNOWN]: And she's like, what the hell?
49:16 --> 49:18 [UNKNOWN]: And he's like, oh, it's sorry.
49:18 --> 49:19 [UNKNOWN]: It's so sorry.
49:19 --> 49:21 [UNKNOWN]: Those assholes.
49:21 --> 49:22 [UNKNOWN]: Thank you.
49:22 --> 49:23 [UNKNOWN]: That's better.
49:23 --> 49:29 [UNKNOWN]: But oh, so like, no, it wasn't a date and it's been explained multiple times that it wasn't a date.
49:29 --> 49:31 [UNKNOWN]: but they do definitely have chemistry.
49:32 --> 49:32 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah.
49:33 --> 49:43 [UNKNOWN]: Now in the other interaction at the beginning where she's looking for the address that they're looking for and she just hands Daniel the wheel.
49:43 --> 49:52 [UNKNOWN]: She's like, here you steer while she turns around and digs around in the back seat and I think that's just that's a really fun way to show the difference in their personality.
49:52 --> 49:53 [UNKNOWN]: Exactly.
49:53 --> 49:56 [UNKNOWN]: I like Daniel is swaying bullets.
49:56 --> 49:57 [UNKNOWN]: That's why I really keep
49:59 --> 49:59 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
49:59 --> 49:59 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
50:00 --> 50:04 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and I, of course, had to pause and look at the first page of her notebook.
50:04 --> 50:07 [UNKNOWN]: I put the picture of that in the discord if anyone's interested.
50:07 --> 50:10 [UNKNOWN]: But basically, it just seems to be notes about Charlotte.
50:10 --> 50:12 [UNKNOWN]: She's just like, oh, brother from Georgia.
50:12 --> 50:13 [UNKNOWN]: It's stuff like that.
50:13 --> 50:16 [UNKNOWN]: So nothing to illuminating there that I could see.
50:16 --> 50:21 [UNKNOWN]: But if anyone sees anything more, please write him, or, yeah, hop in the discord and discuss.
50:23 --> 50:27 [UNKNOWN]: And then, yeah, I would say, drive away Helen questions.
50:27 --> 50:31 [UNKNOWN]: What could cause something that horrific, like they heard in the recording?
50:32 --> 50:35 [UNKNOWN]: What could take control like that to everything at the same time?
50:37 --> 50:38 [UNKNOWN]: so that's what we're wondering too.
50:38 --> 50:39 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
50:40 --> 50:40 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
50:41 --> 50:57 [UNKNOWN]: And then round two, we don't get that much of Daniel's world this time, but we see again that when Helen and Daniel make it back to DC and their drive, Daniel's like actually, let's turn around and go back and see Steve again.
50:57 --> 51:01 [UNKNOWN]: because Daniel, he wants the recording and he wants to share it with public.
51:02 --> 51:11 [UNKNOWN]: However, when they get back to Baltimore, they find the lock to Steve's hideout busted open with the interior tossed and Steve is missing.
51:12 --> 51:15 [UNKNOWN]: So what do you think happened to Steve?
51:15 --> 51:19 [UNKNOWN]: I think Henry happened to Steve.
51:19 --> 51:29 [UNKNOWN]: I think the only way that makes sense is if something's been done to Helen's cars and some kind of tracking device in her car.
51:30 --> 51:34 [UNKNOWN]: Also, they only handed their phones to Steve once and we're actually inside the building.
51:34 --> 51:37 [UNKNOWN]: So it could be, it could be their phones as well.
51:42 --> 51:48 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, I wonder, I did want to point out she said Rayburn and I looked it up in Rayburn is the house office building.
51:48 --> 51:53 [UNKNOWN]: So that's where Daniel Daniel would work Daniel would work as a congressman.
51:54 --> 52:01 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so it's named after Sam Rayburn, who was a speaker of the house for representatives in the 40s, 50s, 60s.
52:01 --> 52:03 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, and today I learned.
52:03 --> 52:04 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
52:05 --> 52:29 [UNKNOWN]: Um, yes, as far as Steve, I mean, I, I shared my question about his chest buddy, um, I wonder, I do wonder if Helen is being bugged since, or maybe even Daniel too, since we've now seen, let's say, we've seen Henry following definitely Charlotte and definitely Helen.
52:35 --> 52:35 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
52:37 --> 52:37 [UNKNOWN]: So I don't know.
52:38 --> 52:41 [UNKNOWN]: I do wonder if they are being bugged or tracked somehow.
52:41 --> 52:48 [UNKNOWN]: And that's how they found Steve or if, you know, through another way, like the chess buddy, we shall see.
52:48 --> 52:49 [UNKNOWN]: I am curious.
52:49 --> 52:50 [UNKNOWN]: That is not book stuff.
52:50 --> 52:51 [UNKNOWN]: There's no Steve in the book.
52:52 --> 52:55 [UNKNOWN]: OK. All right.
52:55 --> 52:59 [UNKNOWN]: Any more thoughts on what's happening in Daniel's timeline?
53:00 --> 53:01 [UNKNOWN]: Only that.
53:02 --> 53:22 [UNKNOWN]: Only that if Steve has picked up on this he is not going to be the only one that has and you can't go around kidnapping everybody so sooner or later this is going to start to leak out into the public domain and it will be interesting to see what happened when it does.
53:23 --> 53:29 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, you could not have a conspiracy theorist, then all this conspiracy theorist friends are going to be like, what happened to him?
53:29 --> 53:30 [UNKNOWN]: You can't win with Steve Go.
53:31 --> 53:31 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
53:33 --> 53:33 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
53:34 --> 53:37 [UNKNOWN]: Well, not note where we're going to go is on a quick break.
53:37 --> 53:39 [UNKNOWN]: And when we come back, we're going to talk about silo 18.
53:43 --> 53:57 [UNKNOWN]: All right, Juliette is ready to reclaim her identity, nurse Amy, Jacqueline versus continues to hover over Juliette, Rebecca Ferguson, asking about her health, and pretending to not have already discovered that Juliette is actually spitting out her pills.
53:58 --> 54:06 [UNKNOWN]: And under their new understanding, Jeffrey D. Jerry, Liam Ackpon, looks away as Juliette slips into the bathroom to do so again.
54:06 --> 54:12 [UNKNOWN]: She tells him that today she would like to walk the silo by herself and Jerry reluctantly agrees.
54:13 --> 54:22 [UNKNOWN]: After they leave, Amy reports Julie at his new pill-spitting habit to Camille Sims, Alexandria of Riley, and Camille tells her to just keep up the facade.
54:23 --> 54:26 [UNKNOWN]: So what do you think is Amy's deal?
54:26 --> 54:31 [UNKNOWN]: I've wrote a mean word about her here that Americans would be offended by.
54:33 --> 54:46 [UNKNOWN]: But maybe I'm being unfair to her because do you think she looks uneasy about taddling on Juliet or do you think she, what do you think Camille has told her about what's going on?
54:47 --> 54:49 [UNKNOWN]: I don't think she knows very much.
54:50 --> 54:51 [UNKNOWN]: to be honest.
54:51 --> 54:58 [UNKNOWN]: I think I certainly don't think she knows what the pills actually are or what they do.
54:59 --> 55:03 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I'm not sure she looked on the easy.
55:03 --> 55:08 [UNKNOWN]: It's just, I think she's very much in the vein and following orders basically.
55:09 --> 55:13 [UNKNOWN]: You, um, can we also notice how to write tea tell me through something I'm going to do it?
55:14 --> 55:16 [UNKNOWN]: And I'm not going to ask many questions.
55:17 --> 55:21 [UNKNOWN]: I guess I assign her a bit more individuality of thought.
55:23 --> 55:33 [UNKNOWN]: I think that Camille has told her enough that makes her understand that there is the safety of the siloed steak.
55:33 --> 55:41 [UNKNOWN]: And the thing is it's not like Juliet is her first patient that in this regard because we know she knows and so that's true.
55:41 --> 55:44 [UNKNOWN]: Gloria's nurse, yeah, and presumably others
55:45 --> 56:13 [UNKNOWN]: decided needed to keep quiet so i wonder if she has if sims knows all about them forget drugs presumably others do as well and i wonder if she's one of them hmm that's a that's a good point i'm actually maybe she maybe she would need to know in order to be able to administer the drug safely or to be able to see whether somebody was having like an adverse reaction
56:13 --> 56:14 [UNKNOWN]: Sure.
56:14 --> 56:14 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
56:15 --> 56:15 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
56:15 --> 56:17 [UNKNOWN]: For a medical perspective, that makes sense.
56:18 --> 56:28 [UNKNOWN]: Because we know also like we saw with Julia's dad that he was doing the thing where he faked taking out the birth control pill.
56:28 --> 56:39 [UNKNOWN]: And he didn't know all the details, but he knew enough that he was he thought that he was doing it for the betterment of the silo, even though he didn't think about it as deeply as he later wished
56:44 --> 56:50 [UNKNOWN]: Um, when we also have questions for Shirley, a porter delivers a note to Shirley, uh, Remy Milner, from Juliet.
56:51 --> 56:54 [UNKNOWN]: I heard you took Lucas Kyle somewhere during the rebellion.
56:54 --> 56:56 [UNKNOWN]: Wherever he is now, I need to find him.
56:57 --> 56:59 [UNKNOWN]: I was hoping you might have some idea.
56:59 --> 57:04 [UNKNOWN]: But Shirley hides the note from Knox, Shay McCray, claiming it's about construction delays.
57:05 --> 57:07 [UNKNOWN]: But Knox knows something is off.
57:09 --> 57:12 [UNKNOWN]: Where do you, how do you feel about the Sherlock's of it all?
57:13 --> 57:14 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, I'm not.
57:14 --> 57:16 [UNKNOWN]: And I said, I'm sticking to it being Shrooksie.
57:17 --> 57:20 [UNKNOWN]: I prefer, yeah, you use your preferred name.
57:20 --> 57:20 [UNKNOWN]: I'll use mine.
57:20 --> 57:22 [UNKNOWN]: I prefer Shrooksie.
57:22 --> 57:23 [UNKNOWN]: I love it.
57:23 --> 57:25 [UNKNOWN]: I'm loving the Shrooksie a little.
57:25 --> 57:28 [UNKNOWN]: Particularly, you know, Shane McCray in his boxes.
57:28 --> 57:39 [UNKNOWN]: around me mill now in top boxes, you know, clearly they're just woken up, they are, they are now living, well, we don't have other living together, but they're certainly spending the night here, each of those places.
57:40 --> 57:41 [UNKNOWN]: So that's cool.
57:42 --> 57:42 [UNKNOWN]: Um,
57:43 --> 57:50 [UNKNOWN]: I did think it was interesting that the Shirley kept the note from nox.
57:50 --> 57:57 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm not sure why she did that to be honest, other than privacy.
57:59 --> 58:07 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, we know she's a very secretive person, but I will say, like, I still haven't forgotten that Narc knocks has been a Narc in the past.
58:09 --> 58:24 [UNKNOWN]: Because not only did he turn in Juliet, which I brought up recently, but also he remember when he had Cooper following Shirley around and I know he did it for what, you know, he wanted to keep peace in the silo and he thought Shirley was stirring shit up, which to be fair she was.
58:25 --> 58:28 [UNKNOWN]: Um, but I wouldn't have surely remembers that, too.
58:28 --> 58:37 [UNKNOWN]: Even as much as she's like, yes, we're in a relationship now, but she's still like, maybe you're not the first person I tell about shady things.
58:37 --> 58:41 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I probably let notx off to easily about that to be honest.
58:41 --> 58:44 [UNKNOWN]: There's a liking, but yeah, I know it's true.
58:44 --> 58:46 [UNKNOWN]: I probably let them off to the easy.
58:47 --> 58:49 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, but I also think it's surely just being, you know.
58:50 --> 58:52 [UNKNOWN]: Just being Shirley, yeah.
58:52 --> 58:59 [UNKNOWN]: Um, so question, we see there's this focus on something on her hip, like a scar or a birthmark or something.
58:59 --> 59:02 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I don't, I don't recall seeing it before.
59:03 --> 59:08 [UNKNOWN]: No, but if we ever seen Shirley anything other than fully dressed before,
59:09 --> 59:15 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I mean, I don't know, like I don't recall her getting an injury or something that that should be reminding us of is what I'm saying, basically.
59:15 --> 59:24 [UNKNOWN]: I think it's more that we should take note of this market and we'll find out later where it came from something with Juliette though, because she's thinking about Juliette and then she looks at her hip.
59:25 --> 59:27 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you're touching, maybe.
59:28 --> 59:32 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it's looked more like a birth marker or scar or something.
59:32 --> 59:32 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
59:33 --> 59:47 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know, and then the other thing in this scene is like, so she uses, she's like, oh, it's about delayed rebar again, which is obviously a lot, but I think that we're supposed to remember others delays in fixing the stairs.
59:48 --> 59:57 [UNKNOWN]: I wonder, I was thinking, could it be about the barrels, but I don't think so because the barrels like supply and the barrels are both, I think,
59:58 --> 01:00:06 [UNKNOWN]: If I recall correctly or I don't know if I'm conflating the book, but I think that the explosion took place outside of IT, right?
01:00:07 --> 01:00:15 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's why I thought at least, which is which is on level 19 in the show higher than it is in the book in the book it's 34.
01:00:17 --> 01:00:26 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, so that means that supply obviously is very, you know, much closer down toward mechanical.
01:00:26 --> 01:00:35 [UNKNOWN]: We're not really sure where water filtration is as far as I know, but that would presumably also be below the gap.
01:00:35 --> 01:00:38 [UNKNOWN]: So I don't think whatever's going on in the gap would affect
01:00:39 --> 01:00:40 [UNKNOWN]: the barrel situation.
01:00:40 --> 01:00:51 [UNKNOWN]: And we did get it confirmed again that the episodes are proceeding a day at a time because when Julia goes out to the site like she says, Jerry, do you remember what we talked about yesterday?
01:00:53 --> 01:01:03 [UNKNOWN]: So what are we saying that the just remind me I might be in this wrong, but I'll be saying that the vitamin B vitamin D plus
01:01:04 --> 01:01:22 [UNKNOWN]: uh... is going to take three days to get to work for a lot of not after this episode because the uh... voice said expedite and uh... communal said that uh... yet that it was like going to be nineteen hours or something uh... yeah i don't get out of the way she talked to sims
01:01:23 --> 01:01:28 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah, but I don't get that because how are you going to make how are you going to speed it up?
01:01:28 --> 01:01:37 [UNKNOWN]: Are you going to send more Paul to just like it during well they set it first that they could only do it at night and now I guess They're doing it during the day as well.
01:01:38 --> 01:01:39 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:01:39 --> 01:01:39 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that makes sense.
01:01:41 --> 01:01:41 [UNKNOWN]: Ma'am.
01:01:42 --> 01:01:45 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, let's talk about this gap.
01:01:45 --> 01:01:47 [UNKNOWN]: I have here two bad bitches meet.
01:01:47 --> 01:01:49 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, no, before we get to the gap, right?
01:01:49 --> 01:01:56 [UNKNOWN]: Sorry, this is about Juliette, surprises, Kathleen Billings, Caitlyn Zaz, of the magazine name, with a home visit.
01:01:56 --> 01:02:01 [UNKNOWN]: Kathleen tells her the sheriff left last night to follow up on a missing person's report in the midst.
01:02:02 --> 01:02:09 [UNKNOWN]: While she's there, Juliette asks Kathleen what she knows about Patrick Kennedy and Lucas Kyle and Kathleen DeFlex, claiming to be busy.
01:02:10 --> 01:02:17 [UNKNOWN]: However, Kathleen claiming to have never heard of the silo's famous fugitives, especially Patrick Kennedy, makes Juliet even more suspicious.
01:02:19 --> 01:02:26 [UNKNOWN]: Noting Kathleen's injured wrist, Juliet flat out accuses her of being part of the IT break-in in episode 1.
01:02:26 --> 01:02:31 [UNKNOWN]: And she tells her she doesn't want to have her arrested, she just wants to find Patrick Kennedy.
01:02:31 --> 01:02:38 [UNKNOWN]: Kathleen insists Lucas Kyle is dead, and that Kennedy knows how to hide where her will never be found.
01:02:40 --> 01:02:42 [UNKNOWN]: That's on this interaction.
01:02:42 --> 01:02:52 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, definitely Billings is getting sort of really into this outsider's group now.
01:02:52 --> 01:02:56 [UNKNOWN]: And I think it's going to be really interesting extent to which.
01:02:57 --> 01:03:02 [UNKNOWN]: The extent to which Sheriff Billings is going to actually be able to protect her.
01:03:09 --> 01:03:23 [UNKNOWN]: In the way the Patrick Kennedy is, Patrick Kennedy is somebody who has always, who has spent a large part of his life living outside the packed living outside the mainstream of the silo.
01:03:34 --> 01:03:37 [UNKNOWN]: a successful quote unquote criminal?
01:03:38 --> 01:03:38 [UNKNOWN]: She's a rebel.
01:03:38 --> 01:03:39 [UNKNOWN]: That's not a criminal.
01:03:40 --> 01:03:42 [UNKNOWN]: I put it in quotes.
01:03:43 --> 01:03:45 [UNKNOWN]: Is Leia or Ghana a criminal?
01:03:46 --> 01:03:46 [UNKNOWN]: I say no.
01:03:51 --> 01:04:01 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, I thought, for me, the thing that especially stuck out here was that Juliet is like, really being Juliet, even if she doesn't really remember everything.
01:04:01 --> 01:04:09 [UNKNOWN]: Like, just, it was quite bold of her to be like, so I see you hurt your wrist, obviously you're the one who did the break in, like, and let's just be blunt about it.
01:04:09 --> 01:04:13 [UNKNOWN]: And I mean, not makes that exact point right around in the episode.
01:04:13 --> 01:04:30 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and and I applaud Julia for her bluntness to be honest, but also I mean Kathleen knows that Juliet's met with Patrick Kennedy in co I guess she doesn't know where Juliet stands after that.
01:04:31 --> 01:04:33 [UNKNOWN]: but she knows she was willing to go there at least?
01:04:33 --> 01:04:39 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, she's at least willing to, she's at least willing to hear Patrick Kennedy out.
01:04:39 --> 01:04:44 [UNKNOWN]: So from Kathleen's point of view, that, that got to mean something.
01:04:44 --> 01:04:44 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:04:45 --> 01:04:47 [UNKNOWN]: Also thought it was messed up of Julia.
01:04:47 --> 01:04:49 [UNKNOWN]: She's like, does your husband know you're an outsider?
01:04:50 --> 01:04:52 [UNKNOWN]: It's like, ooh, Billings implicated.
01:04:52 --> 01:04:55 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah.
01:04:56 --> 01:04:59 [UNKNOWN]: And apparently, this is the first time the two women have ever met.
01:04:59 --> 01:05:07 [UNKNOWN]: And of course, Julia wouldn't remember, but Kathleen's like, no, yeah, we never met and Julia's like, oh.
01:05:07 --> 01:05:11 [UNKNOWN]: I, you like, you're the wife of my deputy and I never came by to say hi.
01:05:12 --> 01:05:14 [UNKNOWN]: Like, maybe I'm kind of self absorbed a bitch.
01:05:15 --> 01:05:19 [UNKNOWN]: Like, yeah, she's learning some things about her.
01:05:19 --> 01:05:20 [UNKNOWN]: She doesn't necessarily like.
01:05:21 --> 01:05:23 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, hmm.
01:05:24 --> 01:05:30 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I'll just say since since we saw Kathleen with the baby, I saw somewhere, I don't miss it on the discord.
01:05:30 --> 01:05:34 [UNKNOWN]: Someone was asking about child care and I just wanted to point out that they do have schools and daycare.
01:05:34 --> 01:05:43 [UNKNOWN]: And the silo, obviously, we see Anthony school, uh, this, this, uh, episode and we've heard mentions throughout the, uh, show and.
01:05:44 --> 01:05:48 [UNKNOWN]: groups of school children and solo visited his school in size of 17.
01:05:48 --> 01:05:52 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, they do have like a robust child care system in the silo.
01:05:52 --> 01:05:56 [UNKNOWN]: So never worry about where the children are, they're thinking care of.
01:05:58 --> 01:06:25 [UNKNOWN]: And so yeah, Kathleen says that Patrick Kennedy has hunted Lucas for months and even had them following his mother and found nothing and apparently they they questioned his mother and which she told them at least is that the last time she saw Lucas was the last time we as an audience saw him, which was in the season two finale when Sims was in her apartment waving his gun at both Lucas and his mom.
01:06:27 --> 01:06:33 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, well, that was what we find out later in the episode that does make sense.
01:06:34 --> 01:06:42 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so he used the chaos of what happened in the finale to bug her off to the minds and seems as we learned.
01:06:43 --> 01:06:43 [UNKNOWN]: Exactly.
01:06:45 --> 01:07:00 [UNKNOWN]: But then there's the question is brought up again of what Bernard and Lucas talked about in the stairwell in the season two finale, and so that conversation again happened after Lucas spoke to the door in the basement and right before Bernard decided to go outside, what do you think that conversation was about?
01:07:02 --> 01:07:02 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not sure.
01:07:03 --> 01:07:05 [UNKNOWN]: I think it's something along the lines of
01:07:06 --> 01:07:14 [UNKNOWN]: We know about the saved God because Bernardo's something to the effect, I know who, but I don't know why.
01:07:14 --> 01:07:22 [UNKNOWN]: So I think what it is is, Bernardo knows about the algorithm, he knows about the saved God.
01:07:23 --> 01:07:31 [UNKNOWN]: I think what Lucas told him was who was behind the algorithm, like who is controlling or programming
01:07:34 --> 01:07:48 [UNKNOWN]: the algorithm, because I'm not convinced that I think the algorithm is like a middle man, but a middle entity between the people of the silo and whoever it is, it's actually in charge.
01:07:50 --> 01:08:09 [UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, I mean, I guess, I would say the majority of people online and I tend to agree think that it has something to do with the safeguard because it just seemed like, like, maybe that the safeguard was about to be implemented or something because it just seems like whatever Luke is said to Bernard is made him give up and businessmen like it's over.
01:08:09 --> 01:08:09 [UNKNOWN]: What's the point?
01:08:10 --> 01:08:15 [UNKNOWN]: Um, but then yeah, that is the question like, would Bernard have known about the safe guard?
01:08:16 --> 01:08:23 [UNKNOWN]: Obviously, knowing about the resets is something that even the head of judicial knows or the, you know, security.
01:08:24 --> 01:08:26 [UNKNOWN]: Camille has been told about the safe guard.
01:08:26 --> 01:08:28 [UNKNOWN]: So you have to assume that Bernard was,
01:08:29 --> 01:08:35 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, although the algorithm said to Camille, like, we are well outside.
01:08:35 --> 01:08:37 [UNKNOWN]: Well, he said, well, I think we're well outside the pact.
01:08:37 --> 01:08:43 [UNKNOWN]: But my presumption is that the algorithm is taking more liberties in this quest to save the silo.
01:08:45 --> 01:08:48 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, maybe, but I'm not sure they're algorithmic.
01:08:48 --> 01:08:50 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not sure the algorithm has the...
01:08:51 --> 01:09:01 [UNKNOWN]: has the ability or the inclination to care one way or the other about what happens to the individual silos.
01:09:01 --> 01:09:06 [UNKNOWN]: It may be programmed to save humanity in general.
01:09:07 --> 01:09:27 [UNKNOWN]: But I'm not sure it has the capacity to care about the individual silos, I mean it depends whether or not you believe it, but there was that interaction in the season two finale where Sims says I want to save the silo and the algorithm says so to why and then tells them to get out.
01:09:28 --> 01:09:29 [UNKNOWN]: That's true.
01:09:29 --> 01:09:35 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, so the algorithm at least expressed an interest in saving
01:09:37 --> 01:09:50 [UNKNOWN]: But I, whether, yeah, who's to know if that's, if the algorithm can feel or feel feels that or what, you know, but at least it's been left if it's been left the 300 years, sort of,
01:10:06 --> 01:10:11 [UNKNOWN]: Now, yeah, so we also learn.
01:10:12 --> 01:10:22 [UNKNOWN]: that after the rebellion, Kathleen tells Julia Paul said the bodies were three deep over the circulation fans on 144.
01:10:23 --> 01:10:35 [UNKNOWN]: And so this would be because that wherever the people died in the silo, if they fell over the railing, they would end up in the same place at the bottom on where George ended up over those fans.
01:10:37 --> 01:10:41 [UNKNOWN]: And Julia, I just can't help but think she might not remember
01:10:42 --> 01:10:53 [UNKNOWN]: being part of mechanical, but she knows intellectually, at least, that these were her, who were, and, you know, buried three deep, the bodies afterward.
01:10:53 --> 01:10:54 [UNKNOWN]: So that's a lot.
01:10:55 --> 01:10:59 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's interesting.
01:10:59 --> 01:11:01 [UNKNOWN]: I thought they, the algorithms had something interesting as well.
01:11:02 --> 01:11:07 [UNKNOWN]: That didn't quite square with that, because we're led to believe there are 10 people in the silo.
01:11:08 --> 01:11:15 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so that means that there was, yeah, that somewhere else here is 9 people left.
01:11:16 --> 01:11:24 [UNKNOWN]: So that implies that, I mean, if there were exactly 10, which probably there weren't, but that I would apply about 87 people died.
01:11:24 --> 01:11:28 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, which wouldn't, which wouldn't be three, which wouldn't be stuck three days.
01:11:28 --> 01:11:31 [UNKNOWN]: Well, that's, the area is not that wide.
01:11:31 --> 01:11:32 [UNKNOWN]: I suppose, yeah.
01:11:32 --> 01:11:34 [UNKNOWN]: They fall down the central shaft.
01:11:34 --> 01:11:35 [UNKNOWN]: I suppose, yeah.
01:11:36 --> 01:11:39 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I hadn't really, okay, scratch that.
01:11:39 --> 01:11:41 [UNKNOWN]: I hadn't really thought that's right.
01:11:42 --> 01:11:47 [UNKNOWN]: And we also hear they were running the incinerator 24 hours a day.
01:11:47 --> 01:11:51 [UNKNOWN]: Now that you wouldn't need to do the rights of people.
01:11:51 --> 01:11:55 [UNKNOWN]: Well, for at least a few days, how long does it take to burn a body?
01:11:55 --> 01:11:58 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but presumably we weren't putting them in one's time.
01:11:59 --> 01:12:00 [UNKNOWN]: Um, depends.
01:12:00 --> 01:12:03 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, we saw, we saw a glimpse of the incinerator.
01:12:03 --> 01:12:04 [UNKNOWN]: That was in the show, right?
01:12:04 --> 01:12:10 [UNKNOWN]: When Sims talked about burning his whole thing about like, Oh, burning them out.
01:12:10 --> 01:12:10 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:12:11 --> 01:12:12 [UNKNOWN]: Dying from quote unquote poison.
01:12:14 --> 01:12:15 [UNKNOWN]: And not being smothered in the face.
01:12:16 --> 01:12:17 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I guess.
01:12:19 --> 01:12:20 [UNKNOWN]: So I don't know.
01:12:20 --> 01:12:29 [UNKNOWN]: It looks like there was one in generator because probably, but yeah, normally, of course, they bury bodies because that's, that's, that's much more respectful.
01:12:29 --> 01:12:32 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, little, because it feeds the farm.
01:12:32 --> 01:12:34 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, does that as well.
01:12:35 --> 01:12:46 [UNKNOWN]: Um, so, but I would struck me about this running the inciterator 24 hours a day is yeah, at the point that Kathleen was making is it's easy to look lose track of people or bodies.
01:12:47 --> 01:12:49 [UNKNOWN]: So, you know, Lucas could have been just one of the bodies thrown in there.
01:12:51 --> 01:12:56 [UNKNOWN]: Um, but also it made me wonder, it was their evidence slipped in there also.
01:12:58 --> 01:12:59 [UNKNOWN]: Quite possibly.
01:13:00 --> 01:13:03 [UNKNOWN]: That would be a good time, you know, it's like, oh, it's just burning.
01:13:03 --> 01:13:05 [UNKNOWN]: No one will notice this extra thing burned.
01:13:05 --> 01:13:08 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so it might be Salvador Quinn's diary.
01:13:09 --> 01:13:10 [UNKNOWN]: Who knows?
01:13:10 --> 01:13:11 [UNKNOWN]: Who knows?
01:13:11 --> 01:13:12 [UNKNOWN]: Who knows?
01:13:14 --> 01:13:19 [UNKNOWN]: All right, but Mr. Billings is also busy on unvestigation, orla.
01:13:21 --> 01:13:30 [UNKNOWN]: Paul Billings, Chinazoo Uche continues his investigation and so the whereabouts of missing a shadow to the head of supply, orla Kent, quailant, sippel, veta.
01:13:30 --> 01:13:35 [UNKNOWN]: So, for at least, and motor riders, do let me know if I set it right this time.
01:13:36 --> 01:13:47 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, he interviews members of her family in a storage room off the marketplace, her mother Denise, Catalina, Boteo, says she's never gone even a day without hearing from her daughter.
01:13:48 --> 01:13:58 [UNKNOWN]: Sheila, Selena Arden, tries to reassure her parents, as Orla's father Rudy, Milto's, Yerola Mu, emphasizes his worries as well.
01:13:59 --> 01:14:06 [UNKNOWN]: Sheila walks billings out, telling him how proud they were of her sister being the first and their family to achieve such a high position.
01:14:07 --> 01:14:21 [UNKNOWN]: And Sheila also tells him about Orla's new boyfriend, Mike Davidson, of whom she is suspicious because, before that, he was in a relationship with the previous shadow to the head of supply and Edward's daughter, Glenda, what?
01:14:21 --> 01:14:22 [UNKNOWN]: Well, T.T.
01:14:22 --> 01:14:23 [UNKNOWN]: has been spilled.
01:14:25 --> 01:14:27 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, but how did you react to that?
01:14:27 --> 01:14:32 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, no, that is all kinds of red flag going on there.
01:14:33 --> 01:14:47 [UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, so I'm thinking maybe Mike is involved in whatever this, uh, bit of pilfering from supply is maybe it might even be his idea.
01:14:47 --> 01:14:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:14:50 --> 01:14:53 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, because he might, he seems to be the thing in common.
01:14:54 --> 01:15:00 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, it might, Mike, Mike with his dog might turn out to be a criminal mastermind.
01:15:00 --> 01:15:04 [UNKNOWN]: Like, but he has a dog in that night said, but Hitler had a dog.
01:15:04 --> 01:15:08 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but he seems to be nice in the dog seem nice.
01:15:08 --> 01:15:09 [UNKNOWN]: They all seem nice.
01:15:11 --> 01:15:16 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, of course, that begs the question like whatever Glenda was framed as well.
01:15:17 --> 01:15:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, quite poor.
01:15:18 --> 01:15:25 [UNKNOWN]: That's where I went as well, like what if what if actually Mike is the one behind this?
01:15:26 --> 01:15:34 [UNKNOWN]: It reminds me of a worse version of what George did to Regina, where George Juliette's, you know, dead lover.
01:15:35 --> 01:15:40 [UNKNOWN]: He when he was with Regina before that, he was kind of using her for this
01:15:47 --> 01:15:50 [UNKNOWN]: So I don't know, Mike, you got some spleen in to do.
01:15:50 --> 01:15:58 [UNKNOWN]: And now, you know, I kept saying that I was like, Orla, just tell him about the thing before you go, but now I'm like, oh, I'm glad you didn't.
01:15:59 --> 01:16:08 [UNKNOWN]: Although I suppose even if it was him, even just saying to him, I'm going to, I have an idea I'm going to go investigate that might have been.
01:16:09 --> 01:16:09 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
01:16:09 --> 01:16:12 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, you might have tipped him off.
01:16:12 --> 01:16:13 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
01:16:13 --> 01:16:13 [UNKNOWN]: I'm Mike.
01:16:14 --> 01:16:18 [UNKNOWN]: Say it ain't so Find this dog in your home.
01:16:18 --> 01:16:19 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, quite dope.
01:16:19 --> 01:16:20 [UNKNOWN]: Don't hurt the dog.
01:16:21 --> 01:16:22 [UNKNOWN]: Never don't hurt the dog.
01:16:24 --> 01:16:43 [UNKNOWN]: um yeah it's interesting we see like that the Kent family works for supply for decades but the parents seem to have moved to a marketplace job now I suppose it's less physically as opposed like Orla talked about working the high line in the shelves and stuff as opposed to there's some physical demands to working in supply.
01:16:44 --> 01:16:56 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, and I wonder, I did, it did, so I might be wonder whether there's such a thing as retirement in the size of the iceberg, I suppose there must be a certain point.
01:16:57 --> 01:16:58 [UNKNOWN]: Carla said she wanted to retire.
01:16:59 --> 01:17:00 [UNKNOWN]: That's right.
01:17:00 --> 01:17:02 [UNKNOWN]: Or Lowe was being sent up to the meeting.
01:17:02 --> 01:17:10 [UNKNOWN]: But is it why guess what I'm saying is is it retiring from that particular job to get something like a stranger or is there something else?
01:17:10 --> 01:17:11 [UNKNOWN]: Is there such a thing?
01:17:11 --> 01:17:13 [UNKNOWN]: Are there such things pensioners in the side Lowe?
01:17:13 --> 01:17:14 [UNKNOWN]: Is that guess what I'm saying?
01:17:14 --> 01:17:15 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
01:17:15 --> 01:17:28 [UNKNOWN]: Because then, I mean, we know that, of course, her people in long-term palliative care, like Gloria, but then, you know, Mara Johns, for instance, when she and Marns were having their, you know, what if we ran away together?
01:17:28 --> 01:17:34 [UNKNOWN]: Whether version of that is like, what if I just set up a stall doing portraits in the marketplace?
01:17:34 --> 01:17:35 [UNKNOWN]: Exactly.
01:17:35 --> 01:17:37 [UNKNOWN]: So maybe that's the retirement plan, as you go to the marketplace.
01:17:39 --> 01:17:39 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:17:42 --> 01:17:45 [UNKNOWN]: Um, she also said that Orillis seemed burdened recently.
01:17:45 --> 01:17:54 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I suppose she obviously was worried about whatever was going on with critical supply, but I do wonder what Orillin knew.
01:17:56 --> 01:18:06 [UNKNOWN]: I know, I put, well, we'll obviously get back to Orla and we're being carded out of the minds, but I put in the discord chat, you know, someone checking her breathing.
01:18:06 --> 01:18:07 [UNKNOWN]: I'm like, Orla, you still alive?
01:18:10 --> 01:18:14 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not going to believe she's dead just yet.
01:18:14 --> 01:18:15 [UNKNOWN]: Really?
01:18:15 --> 01:18:17 [UNKNOWN]: Even if I'm putting on clown makeup, yeah.
01:18:17 --> 01:18:18 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:18:18 --> 01:18:19 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I don't know.
01:18:19 --> 01:18:20 [UNKNOWN]: We'll see.
01:18:20 --> 01:18:20 [UNKNOWN]: We'll see.
01:18:22 --> 01:18:23 [UNKNOWN]: They need to bury her before I believe she's dead.
01:18:24 --> 01:18:24 [UNKNOWN]: Fair enough.
01:18:25 --> 01:18:25 [UNKNOWN]: We're burned here.
01:18:28 --> 01:18:28 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
01:18:29 --> 01:18:31 [UNKNOWN]: Let's take a quick break here when we come back.
01:18:31 --> 01:18:35 [UNKNOWN]: We'll talk about the escalating algorithmic interventions.
01:18:38 --> 01:18:49 [UNKNOWN]: So Camille tells the algorithm about Juliette not taking her pills, but she thinks Juliette wasting her time on looking for Lucas Kyle, someone Camille feels confident she will never find is a good thing.
01:18:49 --> 01:18:56 [UNKNOWN]: She hopes that Juliette will find confirmation of his death, putting the algorithm more at ease, and also lure Kennedy out.
01:18:57 --> 01:19:06 [UNKNOWN]: Camille is hoping that they can stop plan, vitamin D plus from going through, but the algorithm recommends the opposite, speeding up the water filtration plan.
01:19:07 --> 01:19:10 [UNKNOWN]: And this is, yeah, where we hear the data has been presented.
01:19:10 --> 01:19:16 [UNKNOWN]: The choice remains solely in your hands, along with the lines of 9 people.
01:19:16 --> 01:19:23 [UNKNOWN]: So it's implicated that the choice is do the reset or if you don't.
01:19:24 --> 01:19:27 [UNKNOWN]: And the problem isn't solved, then the safeguards come in for you.
01:19:28 --> 01:19:28 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:19:30 --> 01:19:32 [UNKNOWN]: What would you do in that situation?
01:19:35 --> 01:19:37 [UNKNOWN]: it's a horrible situation to be presented with.
01:19:38 --> 01:19:51 [UNKNOWN]: And I think we've got a sort of a knowledge that Camille, Camille's being asked to make, Camille's being asked to make a decision with no good outcome.
01:19:51 --> 01:20:00 [UNKNOWN]: I think what I would do is what Camille is doing, which is to try and strain this out for as long as possible.
01:20:00 --> 01:20:03 [UNKNOWN]: And hope that something better turned up.
01:20:06 --> 01:20:07 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:20:07 --> 01:20:09 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know what I don't know what I would.
01:20:09 --> 01:20:10 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know what I would do.
01:20:11 --> 01:20:19 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, yeah, because if you're faced with the choices, everyone gets some amnesia or dyes.
01:20:19 --> 01:20:23 [UNKNOWN]: Obviously, you'd rather mass amnesia than death.
01:20:23 --> 01:20:23 [UNKNOWN]: Um,
01:20:25 --> 01:20:37 [UNKNOWN]: You know, and the algorithm tries to reassure her you'll be the same people even if you can't remember your past and we kind of see that with Julia and Knox's interaction later like Knox is like I remember you are better than you are, but you're still being you right now.
01:20:39 --> 01:20:44 [UNKNOWN]: So, yeah, I think for Camille, it's like she's just like my son will forget his childhood.
01:20:44 --> 01:20:45 [UNKNOWN]: But hey, good news.
01:20:46 --> 01:20:47 [UNKNOWN]: Everyone will forget their childhood.
01:20:47 --> 01:20:56 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, well, this is what I mean, I think we can do it a bit later when it comes to the the conversation between Camille and Robo.
01:20:56 --> 01:21:04 [UNKNOWN]: But this is, this is what I wanted to talk about, because this is what I thought was the most interesting part of the episode, because
01:21:07 --> 01:21:11 [UNKNOWN]: revealed the vitamin D plus didn't work the way that I thought it did.
01:21:12 --> 01:21:14 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, all right, let me set this up and let's get into it.
01:21:15 --> 01:21:18 [UNKNOWN]: So Robert Sims, common, is a father first.
01:21:19 --> 01:21:22 [UNKNOWN]: He takes his son Anthony, Oscar Coleman, to school.
01:21:22 --> 01:21:28 [UNKNOWN]: He's upset when he looks up to see Juliet waiting for him, where his son, who is still afraid of her, could have seen her.
01:21:29 --> 01:21:34 [UNKNOWN]: He says he'd rather spend the rest of his life in the mines for murder than let her near his son again.
01:21:35 --> 01:21:37 [UNKNOWN]: But she's there to ask Sims for help.
01:21:37 --> 01:21:39 [UNKNOWN]: She wants to know if he knows anything about Lucas Kyle.
01:21:40 --> 01:21:44 [UNKNOWN]: Where he is, or why Bernard took him out of the mines to make him a shadow.
01:21:44 --> 01:21:47 [UNKNOWN]: But Sims clearly means it when he says, I wish I knew.
01:21:48 --> 01:21:57 [UNKNOWN]: Juliet stocks off saying she'll stay away from his son and sims decides to take his son out of school for the rest of the day hoping the family can spend some time together.
01:21:57 --> 01:22:00 [UNKNOWN]: But Camille says she's too busy to join them.
01:22:00 --> 01:22:07 [UNKNOWN]: She recommends her husband for scaring Anthony more than Juliet did by yanking Anthony out of school without explanation.
01:22:07 --> 01:22:15 [UNKNOWN]: Camille's also suspicious why he keeps bringing up memories and Robert shares his horror at Juliet not being able to remember her father.
01:22:16 --> 01:22:20 [UNKNOWN]: unknowingly compounding meals guilt, or at least maybe knowingly.
01:22:20 --> 01:22:24 [UNKNOWN]: Camille tells him about the barrels of vitamin D+.
01:22:24 --> 01:22:30 [UNKNOWN]: Telling him she might have to release it into the water supply, depending on what happens over the next few hours.
01:22:31 --> 01:22:38 [UNKNOWN]: She reminds her husband that he promised to do whatever it takes to keep their son alive, so that he may one day leave the silo.
01:22:38 --> 01:22:48 [UNKNOWN]: Just then Diego, Akikataabe, interrupts showing up to update Camille, Juliet has breached the gap, but Emerson has people trailing her down there.
01:22:48 --> 01:22:51 [UNKNOWN]: So we'll get back to that part, but um...
01:22:51 --> 01:22:54 [UNKNOWN]: So does that make him do you go exposition this way?
01:22:54 --> 01:23:00 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so he's come from Diego obvious to Diego ambitious to Diego exposition.
01:23:01 --> 01:23:08 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, that's a slight demotion from Diego ambition, but I guess he's being ambitious because he's now the one reporting directly to the head of IT.
01:23:08 --> 01:23:09 [UNKNOWN]: I guess he is, yeah.
01:23:10 --> 01:23:11 [UNKNOWN]: He's moving up.
01:23:12 --> 01:23:18 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, well, you said you had some things you wanted to say about this whole exchange between Miele and Robert.
01:23:18 --> 01:23:27 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so I think I'm going to sort of split this into two parts, which is, what does this mean for the plot and what does this mean for the characters?
01:23:27 --> 01:23:28 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:23:28 --> 01:23:40 [UNKNOWN]: I'm going to do what this means to the characters first, because this kind of reinforced of what I said last week about the dynamics of the sentence, marriage, changing, and Camille
01:23:42 --> 01:24:05 [UNKNOWN]: did I ever ask questions when you were away for days and just me and I'm today and yeah I don't think Robert is taking very well so the new dynamic of their marriage and I really do think maybe their marriage lasts to the end of season three I've done the get-makes it all the way to the end of the show
01:24:06 --> 01:24:09 [UNKNOWN]: I just think the characters make it to the end of the show.
01:24:09 --> 01:24:13 [UNKNOWN]: I think the characters do make it to the end of, but oh, put it this way.
01:24:13 --> 01:24:15 [UNKNOWN]: I think both of them make it to the final episode.
01:24:16 --> 01:24:21 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, I mean, and you don't think that their son keeps them together at all?
01:24:23 --> 01:24:24 [UNKNOWN]: No, I don't know.
01:24:25 --> 01:24:29 [UNKNOWN]: And I don't think, just as a matter of principle, I don't think people should stay married.
01:24:30 --> 01:24:32 [UNKNOWN]: for the kids.
01:24:32 --> 01:24:38 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, did you think like they're put on opposite sides, did you think they they're fundamentally broken their partnership?
01:24:39 --> 01:24:41 [UNKNOWN]: No, yeah, but I think that's where they're going.
01:24:42 --> 01:24:43 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, I think that's where it's going to end up.
01:24:44 --> 01:24:47 [UNKNOWN]: I think of the moment their partnership is on the screen.
01:24:48 --> 01:24:54 [UNKNOWN]: And I think over time, it's that screen is going to get worse to the point their marriage breaks down eventually.
01:24:54 --> 01:24:54 [UNKNOWN]: It's then.
01:24:56 --> 01:25:01 [UNKNOWN]: I think that they'll end on the same page, but I do think it's going to be a struggle to get there.
01:25:02 --> 01:25:10 [UNKNOWN]: And I think the Camille has a good point as you brought up that Robert was the one who was always too busy and now that the shoe's on the other foot, he's not having trouble with it.
01:25:11 --> 01:25:19 [UNKNOWN]: And she points out also rightfully that the thing he keeps bringing up, he's so angry with Julie at about, he was not home with his family when it happened.
01:25:21 --> 01:25:26 [UNKNOWN]: And actually, you're probably making it worse, not better for a thing, so.
01:25:26 --> 01:25:28 [UNKNOWN]: No, yeah.
01:25:28 --> 01:25:36 [UNKNOWN]: He does apologize at least that he realizes like he's like, I know I'm late coming to this, but now I think it's important we have our family memories.
01:25:37 --> 01:25:40 [UNKNOWN]: But I can understand from her perspective, she's like,
01:25:41 --> 01:25:44 [UNKNOWN]: Well, what's the point in forming memories that he's about to lose?
01:25:44 --> 01:25:46 [UNKNOWN]: She's obviously more worried about just keeping him alive.
01:25:47 --> 01:25:47 [UNKNOWN]: Her dose.
01:25:47 --> 01:25:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:25:48 --> 01:25:51 [UNKNOWN]: I love the line that the Robert comes out with.
01:25:51 --> 01:25:54 [UNKNOWN]: It's not just that he didn't, she didn't, she didn't, they're talking about Julia.
01:25:55 --> 01:25:56 [UNKNOWN]: It's not just that she didn't remember the man.
01:25:56 --> 01:26:00 [UNKNOWN]: She didn't have any feeling for him.
01:26:00 --> 01:26:04 [UNKNOWN]: You know, no, she's not just that she couldn't remember paint Nichols.
01:26:04 --> 01:26:07 [UNKNOWN]: It's that she had no sense of ever having a dad.
01:26:08 --> 01:26:09 [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
01:26:09 --> 01:26:22 [UNKNOWN]: Musha thought it was a really, and I thought the way common delivered that line whereas voice, there's voice kind of cracks, as he said it, was really quite effective.
01:26:23 --> 01:26:29 [UNKNOWN]: And I think it's sort of getting got to the heart of what robots, but yeah, it is.
01:26:30 --> 01:26:36 [UNKNOWN]: It's not just being forgotten, it's Anthony having that holding in his life
01:26:37 --> 01:26:39 [UNKNOWN]: and never being able to fill it.
01:26:41 --> 01:26:49 [UNKNOWN]: If you kind of like what the spiritual sort of effect of loss memory.
01:26:50 --> 01:26:50 [UNKNOWN]: is.
01:26:51 --> 01:26:58 [UNKNOWN]: But the difference with Anthony, I mean, Julia, if she doesn't remember her father, then that stuff's lost.
01:26:58 --> 01:27:05 [UNKNOWN]: I'm still expecting that like that little thing from her brother to show up and trigger memories and stuff.
01:27:05 --> 01:27:13 [UNKNOWN]: And I think she'll get her memories of her father back, but the difference with what would happen with, you know, the vitamin D reset is that,
01:27:16 --> 01:27:20 [UNKNOWN]: He's like, it's, yeah, it's the same thing you're doing to Juliet, but lower and slower.
01:27:20 --> 01:27:30 [UNKNOWN]: So, um, and it doesn't, like, Anthony will still live with his parents and they'll still know that's his parents and they'll form new memories together.
01:27:31 --> 01:27:35 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, so it's not like he won't be like, oh, I don't have any feelings for my father.
01:27:35 --> 01:27:43 [UNKNOWN]: He'll be like, there's my father, you know, as Juliet says, like he's, like, he's like, Anthony still wakes up in the middle of night afraid, and she's like, well, at least he still has you.
01:27:43 --> 01:27:46 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, um, and that would continue to be the case.
01:27:46 --> 01:27:49 [UNKNOWN]: Actually, he would forget that Juliet ever threatened him.
01:27:49 --> 01:27:51 [UNKNOWN]: That fear would go away.
01:27:53 --> 01:27:55 [UNKNOWN]: And he would still know that Robert was his dad.
01:27:57 --> 01:27:59 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I guess.
01:28:00 --> 01:28:24 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, although this is, this is kind of what I want to talk about because this, I think this, this scene was really, for me as a show watcher, this scene was really interesting because from what, from what the way Bernard explained it to Lucas Kyle last season, I sort of had a different understanding of how the Vitham and T plus worked.
01:28:25 --> 01:28:33 [UNKNOWN]: because I assumed that what it was doing was because, like Robert Sim says, it's lower and slower.
01:28:33 --> 01:28:40 [UNKNOWN]: I assumed that what it was doing was just suppressing the most recent memories that people had.
01:28:42 --> 01:29:07 [UNKNOWN]: IE, the rebellion, IE, the rebellion, so like for, and also Robert talks about this with Patrick Kennedy, you know, you can take the dose of the memory's personal job, so he can take weeks, months, years, whatever, you can't, in the words, you can't select for particular memories, but you can select for a period of time that it would suppress,
01:29:09 --> 01:29:25 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that the way the Robert Sims discriminated to Patrick Kennedy did kind of make it sound that way, but I'll say the way when they, this whole thing about releasing it in the water, we know that in this universe, they did do it during the Rebellion 140 years ago.
01:29:25 --> 01:29:36 [UNKNOWN]: As a book reader, you actually get a section of, or half of a section of shift, the second book that's dedicated to that Rebellion, and you see this happen.
01:29:37 --> 01:29:53 [UNKNOWN]: So what you see happen at the end of it is yes, this has been released in the water and you have your character with central perspective mission and for example mission had a friend who died.
01:29:55 --> 01:30:00 [UNKNOWN]: And so after this reset, like he didn't really remember there's a reset.
01:30:00 --> 01:30:04 [UNKNOWN]: He just kind of loses this complacency, the kicks in with this low slow dose.
01:30:05 --> 01:30:08 [UNKNOWN]: But things like he didn't remember his friend that died.
01:30:08 --> 01:30:11 [UNKNOWN]: But then he, he remembered the name.
01:30:11 --> 01:30:12 [UNKNOWN]: He's like, I like that name for some reason.
01:30:12 --> 01:30:14 [UNKNOWN]: I think we should name our kid that name.
01:30:14 --> 01:30:15 [UNKNOWN]: It feels like a good name.
01:30:16 --> 01:30:18 [UNKNOWN]: But he didn't, so you know, he couldn't remember the threat.
01:30:20 --> 01:30:21 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, okay.
01:30:22 --> 01:30:39 [UNKNOWN]: But this is where I think this is really interesting, because there's so much potential for the process of this reset to go wrong in ways that would be fatal or a side load.
01:30:39 --> 01:30:43 [UNKNOWN]: So, let's just give a really obvious example.
01:30:43 --> 01:30:49 [UNKNOWN]: What happens if the head of mechanical turns open doesn't remember how the generator works?
01:30:50 --> 01:31:00 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, okay, no, but it's not, it's not that it's it's more there are so it's it's not targeting like muscle memory or something.
01:31:00 --> 01:31:12 [UNKNOWN]: So for example, if you knew how to play the cello, you would still probably know how to play the cello, but you wouldn't remember having learned it per se except that maybe that comes back through your interacting with the cello.
01:31:13 --> 01:31:30 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, well, all right, let's let's assume for a second that that okay, that that's that you can that you can do that, but like Let's let's just talk about the scenario that the Sims we're talking about the Anthony Woods would lose memories of their parents.
01:31:30 --> 01:31:39 [UNKNOWN]: Now the Sims are going to know what's happening because They're in on it, but other families are going to go through that experience and not understand what's happened
01:31:39 --> 01:31:41 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's why it's low and slow.
01:31:41 --> 01:31:45 [UNKNOWN]: So people, the idea is that people don't really necessarily notice it's happening.
01:31:45 --> 01:31:47 [UNKNOWN]: There's just like some brain fog.
01:31:47 --> 01:31:52 [UNKNOWN]: And then is, you know, people don't get upset about what they don't remember.
01:31:53 --> 01:31:55 [UNKNOWN]: So is it also acting as like a Trump or lies?
01:31:56 --> 01:32:03 [UNKNOWN]: No, it's just that it's the tranquilizing effect is more so that you're forgetting what you were upset about.
01:32:03 --> 01:32:10 [UNKNOWN]: Because I could just like see like people panicking that they couldn't remember stuff.
01:32:11 --> 01:32:19 [UNKNOWN]: And like that in itself caused being the catalyst for rebellion or just a more general like societal breakdown.
01:32:20 --> 01:32:27 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, no, so that's why that's the whole idea of why it's why it has to be dribbled out slowly rather than just having a mass dosage.
01:32:28 --> 01:32:35 [UNKNOWN]: So it's like, it's like people don't aren't clinging to things like like I don't remember what I had for lunch two days ago.
01:32:36 --> 01:32:39 [UNKNOWN]: If it were really important to me, I would hold on to that longer, but that's just.
01:32:40 --> 01:32:44 [UNKNOWN]: something I'm happy to let go and not question why I let it go, you know, that sort of thing.
01:32:44 --> 01:32:54 [UNKNOWN]: And I think with this low slow dose, it's more like that that more and more things you just you let it go and you're not worried about.
01:32:55 --> 01:33:19 [UNKNOWN]: it because you don't remember to be worried about having to remember something and that's where people like Juliet and I'm not saying that nobody will feel that way that's why people like Juliet who the 10% who are resistant to it that's why they're a problem and in that flashback story about the rebellion in silo 18 and shift there is a character who is specifically such a
01:33:23 --> 01:33:37 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, but like, I get the, um, I get the, you know, you're not really bothered about what you had for lunch two days ago, but if you're, if you're in a family situation and you, let's say you can't remember how you met your partner.
01:33:38 --> 01:33:38 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:33:39 --> 01:33:44 [UNKNOWN]: Like that, that's going to cause like major distress to wait more than 10%.
01:33:44 --> 01:33:49 [UNKNOWN]: But if you're in a society where, where that's the norm, where it's like
01:33:54 --> 01:34:01 [UNKNOWN]: I just, it just strikes me and this is a, this is a very sort of delicate risky, I'm not saying it wouldn't work.
01:34:01 --> 01:34:17 [UNKNOWN]: I'm just saying this is a very delicate risky road to tread, and I still think you would have, you know, they can write this however they want, because it's, it's, it's a story, but I still think you would have difficulty like act.
01:34:18 --> 01:34:22 [UNKNOWN]: falling off those kind of interpersonal memories from procedural memories.
01:34:22 --> 01:34:30 [UNKNOWN]: So I could see, like, a scenario where the head of mechanical doesn't remember quite how the, the, the general works.
01:34:31 --> 01:34:34 [UNKNOWN]: Like, I could see the, I mean, that's what the manuals for, but yeah.
01:34:34 --> 01:34:35 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:34:35 --> 01:34:46 [UNKNOWN]: I, well, yeah, but, but yeah, um, like, I can just see a, I can just see an episode coming up at some point over the next,
01:34:47 --> 01:34:59 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, you know, if they start to de-plus thing, yeah, it's started yet, but no, I could just see them maybe finding another silo where the reset went wrong in some fundamental way.
01:34:59 --> 01:35:04 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, all grants that it might have happened in a silo or so, but I, uh,
01:35:05 --> 01:35:19 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it would be a lot if it happened in all because he said six had successful resets I don't think we can make the leap that 24 did it in our dead or you know, no, but I think some of them right off
01:35:20 --> 01:35:34 [UNKNOWN]: I certainly, it's possible a lot of things can go wrong and I'll say that is something that in the book we did get, and I wonder if we will hear, but we did get more teasers of different, like we get some more teasers of different ways different things happen in different silos.
01:35:34 --> 01:35:47 [UNKNOWN]: Whereas here, this is why I was talking about last season about, I didn't like that they said that there was something in the order about how you always blame the revolution on mechanical or something.
01:35:48 --> 01:35:53 [UNKNOWN]: I think there was all kinds of different reasons why things happened and it should not always be the same.
01:35:54 --> 01:35:54 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:35:56 --> 01:36:05 [UNKNOWN]: Anyway, yeah, I just thought as a show watcher, this sort of really, it didn't contradict what came before, but it gave you a lot more.
01:36:05 --> 01:36:11 [UNKNOWN]: It changed my sort of opinion on what a reset is and how it works because my
01:36:12 --> 01:36:22 [UNKNOWN]: my sort of working hypothesis was that it would be quite, it would completely suppress your memories, but for quite a limited period of time.
01:36:22 --> 01:36:24 [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
01:36:25 --> 01:36:25 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:36:26 --> 01:36:28 [UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah, no, not for a limited period of time.
01:36:28 --> 01:36:32 [UNKNOWN]: A pity you couldn't as Victor laid out in the last episode.
01:36:33 --> 01:36:35 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, you couldn't pull memories back out.
01:36:36 --> 01:36:39 [UNKNOWN]: But that would be difficult to do for 10 people.
01:36:39 --> 01:36:39 [UNKNOWN]: Exactly.
01:36:39 --> 01:36:40 [UNKNOWN]: Well, the point is in that
01:36:42 --> 01:36:57 [UNKNOWN]: yeah um yeah so uh just a couple little notes one that I liked that it's apparently Anthony's in Daisy class so i'm like always at his grade which just reminds me of Girl Scouts.
01:36:58 --> 01:36:59 [UNKNOWN]: Daisy, although he's older than that.
01:37:00 --> 01:37:14 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I know they think that stuck out to me was when Juliet was like asking the questions about Lucas Kyle and why did Bernard pull him out of the minds and make him a shadow and seems like I wish I knew and I'm like, oh, I bet you wish you.
01:37:16 --> 01:37:22 [UNKNOWN]: But I also feel like in that was also that seems wishes he knew why the algorithm chose his wife over him as well.
01:37:23 --> 01:37:25 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, definitely, definitely.
01:37:26 --> 01:37:46 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know whether this is just whether this is a bit of acting that common does or whether it's just what happens to common when he gets annoyed But you notice when Sims is emotional or particularly when he's angry his voice gets goes substantially higher Okay, he like goes a little bit squeaky Okay, yeah, it gets that happens with a lot of people Yeah
01:37:48 --> 01:37:53 [UNKNOWN]: Um, another thing that stood out is Camille's like, we said we do whatever we can to protect our son's life.
01:37:53 --> 01:37:54 [UNKNOWN]: Sure, sure, sure, sure.
01:37:54 --> 01:37:57 [UNKNOWN]: And then she said to make sure he walks outside one day.
01:37:57 --> 01:38:01 [UNKNOWN]: I'm like, lady, nobody's walked outside three hundred and fifty two years.
01:38:01 --> 01:38:03 [UNKNOWN]: Well, how do you think your son's gonna be the one?
01:38:03 --> 01:38:09 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and I never heard, I never heard the mum back conversation before or even in to at it.
01:38:09 --> 01:38:13 [UNKNOWN]: No, I'm like, why can't you, where's that coming from?
01:38:13 --> 01:38:14 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, where's that just delusion?
01:38:14 --> 01:38:19 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, the way did that come from.
01:38:20 --> 01:38:25 [UNKNOWN]: Also, okay, linking to the Robert being jealous thing is awkward.
01:38:25 --> 01:38:34 [UNKNOWN]: When Diego shows up the door, and Diego used to work for Robert, but now Robert has to leave the room so that Diego can debrief his wife.
01:38:34 --> 01:38:36 [UNKNOWN]: So he's Diego, well, comfortable.
01:38:37 --> 01:38:40 [UNKNOWN]: I didn't say, do you go making it awkward?
01:38:43 --> 01:38:51 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah, and then we, uh, we get the sweet interaction where Rob's like, okay, I'm going to take you to lunch, then I'll take you back to school.
01:38:51 --> 01:38:53 [UNKNOWN]: And but Anthony can see his dad's upset.
01:38:53 --> 01:38:54 [UNKNOWN]: So what does he give him?
01:38:55 --> 01:38:58 [UNKNOWN]: He gives him the pez dispenser to comfort him.
01:38:58 --> 01:38:59 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that was cute.
01:39:00 --> 01:39:04 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but also they want us to remember the Tempest Adventure.
01:39:04 --> 01:39:04 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:39:06 --> 01:39:09 [UNKNOWN]: They think better have a good explanation of why that's so bloody important.
01:39:12 --> 01:39:25 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I mean, it seems, at the very least, it seems like it has, it had survived, assuming it's the same one that we see Daniel give Helen on their not date.
01:39:26 --> 01:39:29 [UNKNOWN]: It seems to have survived and beat some way of tracing.
01:39:30 --> 01:39:30 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:39:31 --> 01:39:32 [UNKNOWN]: From that time.
01:39:32 --> 01:39:37 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I suppose it does tell us that this is the same reality.
01:39:38 --> 01:39:39 [UNKNOWN]: But I think we all knew that anyway.
01:39:40 --> 01:39:45 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but I think it's more that there's going to be reveals of like, well, how did the peasants spend to get in this side, though?
01:39:45 --> 01:39:46 [UNKNOWN]: That's true.
01:39:46 --> 01:39:49 [UNKNOWN]: And even book readers are talking, because there's no peasants spent there in the book.
01:39:49 --> 01:39:51 [UNKNOWN]: So book readers are like, well, what does this mean for the story?
01:39:54 --> 01:39:58 [UNKNOWN]: So you were telling me that you have no more idea what happens to the fastest threats than I did?
01:39:59 --> 01:39:59 [UNKNOWN]: No.
01:39:59 --> 01:40:00 [UNKNOWN]: No, I love this.
01:40:01 --> 01:40:01 [UNKNOWN]: I love this one.
01:40:01 --> 01:40:02 [UNKNOWN]: No, we haven't discussed it.
01:40:02 --> 01:40:03 [UNKNOWN]: How does it get into that cello?
01:40:03 --> 01:40:06 [UNKNOWN]: And what does it mean for what we know of this story?
01:40:06 --> 01:40:08 [UNKNOWN]: I love it when we have this kind of a corner thing.
01:40:10 --> 01:40:22 [UNKNOWN]: Alright, well speaking of building bridges, Juliette finds Shirley at the Starrer-Parrer Construction site, Teddy, Oletungeo, sees how upset Shirley is, says he'll speak to Juliette.
01:40:22 --> 01:40:32 [UNKNOWN]: But when Juliette tries to steam role Teddy's objections to her crossing the gap for safety reasons, Shirley intervenes to call out Juliette for being pigheaded.
01:40:33 --> 01:40:50 [UNKNOWN]: and Juliet confronts her about ignoring her note, which surely unconvincingly lies about of receiving before claiming she was just too busy and then finally admitting she's just hurt by quote unquote, Madam Mayor not recognizing her, her best friend.
01:40:50 --> 01:41:00 [UNKNOWN]: And Juliet reminds her that not having her memories hurts Juliet too and calls her out for not being a great best friend if she's not willing to help her.
01:41:01 --> 01:41:21 [UNKNOWN]: Julie at Ash Shirley to take her where she took Lucas Kyle and Shirley says it's not possible because the area is sealed off, so Julie just helps herself to a trip across the gap on her own terms, knocks intercept her at the bottom, reiterating that they really don't know where Lucas Kyle is and the digger void really has been sealed for three months by Martha.
01:41:22 --> 01:41:32 [UNKNOWN]: and when he demands Juliet let him help her, she asks him to make it make sense why Bernard would pluck Lucas from the mines to make him his shadow.
01:41:32 --> 01:41:38 [UNKNOWN]: Juliet assumes that Lucas must have learned something about the mines that made him of interest to Bernard.
01:41:38 --> 01:41:43 [UNKNOWN]: Nox says he'll take her to talk to a guy with some mines in sight.
01:41:45 --> 01:41:45 [UNKNOWN]: So
01:41:46 --> 01:41:53 [UNKNOWN]: It's surely, surely, was so distracted by jewels, arrival, she nearly caused an accident, luckily hurt no one, but I'm glad they finally had it out.
01:41:53 --> 01:41:57 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, yeah, you know, quick, clear communication.
01:41:57 --> 01:41:59 [UNKNOWN]: People, we got there in the end.
01:42:01 --> 01:42:02 [UNKNOWN]: Um, what do you think about this?
01:42:02 --> 01:42:08 [UNKNOWN]: What are your current thoughts about this whole market, Martha having, we still haven't seen her yet, have we?
01:42:09 --> 01:42:09 [UNKNOWN]: So we know we did.
01:42:09 --> 01:42:11 [UNKNOWN]: We saw her so luckily at upstairs.
01:42:11 --> 01:42:12 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:42:12 --> 01:42:15 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, but we don't know what she's up to down there.
01:42:15 --> 01:42:18 [UNKNOWN]: I'm still suspicious of her having sealed off the digger void.
01:42:19 --> 01:42:23 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, although it doesn't look like.
01:42:24 --> 01:42:25 [UNKNOWN]: Lucas was there.
01:42:25 --> 01:42:25 [UNKNOWN]: No, we know.
01:42:26 --> 01:42:28 [UNKNOWN]: It seems like he was in the mines, but still.
01:42:28 --> 01:42:28 [UNKNOWN]: No.
01:42:29 --> 01:42:30 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:42:30 --> 01:42:30 [UNKNOWN]: Here's my question.
01:42:31 --> 01:42:33 [UNKNOWN]: Is do Shirley and Knox even know?
01:42:33 --> 01:42:43 [UNKNOWN]: If we both agree Martha's up to something, do Shirley and Knox, I feel like I believe that when they say they really think it's just closed off.
01:42:44 --> 01:43:07 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but do or do they know I don't know I mean there is a perfect we good reason to close it off it is dangerous It's a good particular if people wondering around you know like not said in an episode Wantness if kids get in there and they don't really know what they're doing you know people could easily get hurt But what does it even mean to seal it off like did they put concrete in there?
01:43:07 --> 01:43:09 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, and if it's that's the case.
01:43:09 --> 01:43:11 [UNKNOWN]: Well, we couldn't do that by yourself
01:43:12 --> 01:43:21 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, obviously she could have directed it and had it overseen, but then, yeah, it's just suspicious, suspicious, did Walker go down and find the door?
01:43:22 --> 01:43:24 [UNKNOWN]: And, but the door wouldn't speak to her, of course.
01:43:24 --> 01:43:28 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, as Walker just put a load of police tape across it, you know, do not cross kind of.
01:43:30 --> 01:43:31 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I don't know.
01:43:32 --> 01:43:38 [UNKNOWN]: Also, when Juliet goes down on that rope with the counterweight on, she's not wearing clothes.
01:43:38 --> 01:43:39 [UNKNOWN]: So she would have burned down.
01:43:39 --> 01:43:42 [UNKNOWN]: She didn't know she grabbed gloves from Teddy.
01:43:43 --> 01:43:43 [UNKNOWN]: Did she?
01:43:43 --> 01:43:46 [UNKNOWN]: They were like tucked in Teddy's pocket and she just took them from him.
01:43:46 --> 01:43:47 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:43:47 --> 01:43:48 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:43:48 --> 01:43:50 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I was wondering if she could burn the hands to book her.
01:43:50 --> 01:43:51 [UNKNOWN]: Are you doing that?
01:43:51 --> 01:43:51 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:43:52 --> 01:44:00 [UNKNOWN]: Um, also, I've seen some confusion from people who are like, well, why does Julie yet think that Bernard Pluck Lucas for the minds?
01:44:00 --> 01:44:04 [UNKNOWN]: Because he learned something there and I'll just say that's Julie at the assumption as viewers.
01:44:04 --> 01:44:09 [UNKNOWN]: We know from last season that that's not why he didn't, he wasn't like, oh, you know something from the minds.
01:44:09 --> 01:44:18 [UNKNOWN]: He was just Judge Meadows said Lucas was bright and curious and, uh, Lucas proved to be a good investigator and co-cracker.
01:44:18 --> 01:44:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:44:19 --> 01:44:29 [UNKNOWN]: which, you know, it's kind of to Bernard's credit in a way the fact that he valued that because I don't think the algorithm values curiosity.
01:44:30 --> 01:44:32 [UNKNOWN]: But now, you know, it says later on.
01:44:33 --> 01:44:35 [UNKNOWN]: Um, is it like Aurora was earlier?
01:44:35 --> 01:44:36 [UNKNOWN]: Where's her later?
01:44:36 --> 01:44:43 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, oh, where she's teaching the algorithm explicitly talks to Camille about why he wants you.
01:44:43 --> 01:44:44 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah.
01:44:44 --> 01:44:46 [UNKNOWN]: And it didn't want to know anything to do with curiosity.
01:44:47 --> 01:44:47 [UNKNOWN]: No, yeah.
01:44:48 --> 01:45:05 [UNKNOWN]: So, I mean, I wonder if I guess, probably, that's Judge Meadows lasting impret, that was her lasting impact on Bernard, is that she, because he was obviously smitten with her, yeah, even though he killed her.
01:45:05 --> 01:45:09 [UNKNOWN]: He was smitten with her in his sociopathic way, but he,
01:45:11 --> 01:45:22 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that he liked that curiosity about her and made him value it in Lucas as well, because maybe it sparks some, you know, and maybe that will be the same with Camille and Juliet.
01:45:23 --> 01:45:24 [UNKNOWN]: Maybe that's what she sees in Juliet.
01:45:24 --> 01:45:29 [UNKNOWN]: She's like Juliet dares things that even I wouldn't and respect.
01:45:29 --> 01:45:29 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:45:32 --> 01:45:34 [UNKNOWN]: I do think it's interesting the minds are still painted as a nightmare.
01:45:34 --> 01:45:36 [UNKNOWN]: We'll talk again about that shortly.
01:45:38 --> 01:45:49 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, so let's check in meanwhile there's some outside or intrigue at the same time, Kathleen is meeting with Sandy, Chippelchung and Denny Bly will merit for a quiet conversation in the corridor.
01:45:49 --> 01:45:53 [UNKNOWN]: Kathleen says Juliet may be off her game, but she's still sharp.
01:45:53 --> 01:45:55 [UNKNOWN]: Maybe she really can find Lucas Kyle.
01:45:56 --> 01:45:59 [UNKNOWN]: But Denny, who's been helping to look for Lucas for months, is skeptical.
01:46:00 --> 01:46:05 [UNKNOWN]: They reveal they've also been having Juliet followed, today by a woman named Bobby,
01:46:09 --> 01:46:25 [UNKNOWN]: My question is if the gap is level 19 where IT is or around that part, so it makes sense Kathleen is the sheriff's wife lives above it, but and if Danny worked for IT, then yeah, he would also live around that part, obviously.
01:46:26 --> 01:46:29 [UNKNOWN]: Sandy's last known where workplace was level 105.
01:46:29 --> 01:46:31 [UNKNOWN]: So like is she living upstairs now or
01:46:32 --> 01:46:37 [UNKNOWN]: do have they found another way around the gap with their whole digging behind things?
01:46:38 --> 01:46:50 [UNKNOWN]: I sort of assumed it was that that they've got like a parallel that they've got like a tunnel that's rough that is running vertically up at least part of the silo.
01:46:51 --> 01:46:51 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, okay.
01:46:52 --> 01:47:04 [UNKNOWN]: All right, which, which doesn't mean me back to what we were saying last week, which is I hope they have compromised the structural integrity of the silo because I mean, it's it's packed with, well, yeah, except the minds are digging around it, too.
01:47:04 --> 01:47:17 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, I mean, I guess the algorithm wouldn't let them dig like that or well, uh, the algorithm presumably doesn't know about them digging through the walls, but the algorithm wouldn't let them dig in the minds if that were a concern.
01:47:18 --> 01:47:18 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
01:47:21 --> 01:47:23 [UNKNOWN]: They must know about them digging in the walls too.
01:47:23 --> 01:47:23 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:47:26 --> 01:47:31 [UNKNOWN]: A lot of I don't know, but you who does know a little bit of something is the man who escaped the mines.
01:47:32 --> 01:47:37 [UNKNOWN]: So Knox 6 Juliette to see Mark Chambers, George Robinson, in tool fabrication.
01:47:37 --> 01:47:45 [UNKNOWN]: And Juliette asks Mark about Lucas pointing out that despite Mark saying that people don't come back out of the mines, Mark got out of there.
01:47:46 --> 01:47:52 [UNKNOWN]: But Mark is extra skeptical about Lucas's survival once he learns he was an IT guy before his mines sentence.
01:47:53 --> 01:47:55 [UNKNOWN]: Juliet says it doesn't matter if Mark believes her.
01:47:56 --> 01:48:00 [UNKNOWN]: She just wants to know what he might have learned in there and Mark insists.
01:48:01 --> 01:48:02 [UNKNOWN]: There's nothing to learn.
01:48:02 --> 01:48:04 [UNKNOWN]: Lucas just got lucky.
01:48:05 --> 01:48:16 [UNKNOWN]: So, yeah, I'm now calling him Snarky Marky because he points out that Juliet used to be Knox's shadow, but now he works for her, which it looks like is news to Juliet.
01:48:16 --> 01:48:16 [UNKNOWN]: She did not
01:48:20 --> 01:48:30 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, he snarky-marky also says the only thing in the minds are metal or and death, which is, again, a way more intense depiction than in the books which we'll get to.
01:48:30 --> 01:48:35 [UNKNOWN]: But you can get a decent, you can get a safe job cleaning toilet, so apparently.
01:48:36 --> 01:48:46 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, well, which is not, we'll talk about what we learn from Camille's computer search about snarky-marky, but would you think about this exchange, any thoughts?
01:48:47 --> 01:48:55 [UNKNOWN]: I just graduated really like, well, that's really like James, although I do think he's being unnecessarily snorkey, yeah.
01:48:57 --> 01:49:08 [UNKNOWN]: And yeah, like I think somebody from IT is going to have a particularly bad time in the mind because IT is one of the cushions, one of the cushions jobs in the same way.
01:49:09 --> 01:49:11 [UNKNOWN]: so that does make sense.
01:49:11 --> 01:49:30 [UNKNOWN]: I know it's like in fairness to Mark like Julia is asking him to talk about something that's fairly dramatic because yes he made it out of the minds but he did end up you know with the disability presumably from some sort of accident so yeah he's not something you want to talk about
01:49:31 --> 01:49:32 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, all right.
01:49:32 --> 01:49:33 [UNKNOWN]: Let's let's set that up.
01:49:33 --> 01:49:38 [UNKNOWN]: So, um, Judicial Goon and Chief Emerson, Florian Claire.
01:49:38 --> 01:49:39 [UNKNOWN]: Updates Camille.
01:49:40 --> 01:49:46 [UNKNOWN]: Updates Camille on Julia's whereabouts and Camille tells her not to have Chambers questioned.
01:49:46 --> 01:49:50 [UNKNOWN]: I love she says Chambers were either tell her nothing or send her in the wrong direction just for fun.
01:49:50 --> 01:49:51 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, thank you.
01:49:51 --> 01:49:53 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, she knows she knows what she was.
01:49:54 --> 01:49:57 [UNKNOWN]: Like that's the snarky market part I enjoy.
01:49:57 --> 01:50:01 [UNKNOWN]: I'm like direct that energy at the powers that be not a Juliet.
01:50:03 --> 01:50:24 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and then Camille returns to the algorithm room to ask about the distance between silos which the algorithm is not willing to discuss Camille accepts this, but points out that Lucas would know about the existence of the other silos as Bernard's former shadow, and she's afraid that he returned to the mines to tunnel to another silo, possibly the one Juliet went to.
01:50:24 --> 01:50:35 [UNKNOWN]: The algorithm says that if she believes this to be true, it's time for her to do something about it because any silo to silo contact would lead to immediate implementation of the safeguard.
01:50:36 --> 01:50:45 [UNKNOWN]: So, Camille tells Emerson to send a rat extermination team to the mines for an extra for an immediate fumigation, the miners be damned.
01:50:46 --> 01:50:48 [UNKNOWN]: Camille now thinks the chance to take
01:50:53 --> 01:51:02 [UNKNOWN]: Meanwhile, downstairs Juliet notices the woman Melissa, a desi, if a Yinwa, following her in knocks, and they give her the slip.
01:51:02 --> 01:51:14 [UNKNOWN]: Juliet is now thinking less about what Lucas might have learned from the minds before being pulled out, and is now thinking that the minds would actually be an ideal place for a guy on the run to hide out for the past three months.
01:51:15 --> 01:51:16 [UNKNOWN]: So Juliet is determined
01:51:21 --> 01:51:26 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, part of this is, so Camille looks up Mark.
01:51:27 --> 01:51:31 [UNKNOWN]: And I paused and took down all the information that she sees on the theater.
01:51:31 --> 01:51:31 [UNKNOWN]: So...
01:51:32 --> 01:51:38 [UNKNOWN]: What we learned about Mark from his file on Camille's computer is that he's an only child.
01:51:39 --> 01:51:43 [UNKNOWN]: His mother Marilyn worked in the laundry until she died in childbirth.
01:51:44 --> 01:51:49 [UNKNOWN]: And on May 17th, the year 114 after the revolution.
01:51:49 --> 01:51:53 [UNKNOWN]: So after that home, the last reset.
01:51:54 --> 01:51:57 [UNKNOWN]: So he was born in 1114, that's the important thing to remember.
01:51:57 --> 01:52:10 [UNKNOWN]: His father, Silist, was a machinist and tool fabrication, so where Mark works now, and Silist was killed in a machine accident in 132, so Mark was 18 when his father died and he became an orphan.
01:52:12 --> 01:52:15 [UNKNOWN]: We learned he was treated when he was two days old, he was treated for jaundice.
01:52:17 --> 01:52:30 [UNKNOWN]: Um, we learned that two years after his father died, he was treated for a kind of cussion sustained while using drill equipment, uh, while he, he was serving time for possession of contraband machine parts.
01:52:30 --> 01:52:37 [UNKNOWN]: Five months later, still in the mines, he, there was a spinal last duration from falling rock debris.
01:52:38 --> 01:52:40 [UNKNOWN]: So that's how he ended up in the wheelchair.
01:52:41 --> 01:52:41 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:52:42 --> 01:52:52 [UNKNOWN]: Criminal history is he a month after his father died, he was caught for petty theft of mechanical supplies and put on three months of trash duty.
01:52:53 --> 01:52:58 [UNKNOWN]: Six months after that, suspicion of petty theft, but released on insufficient evidence.
01:52:59 --> 01:53:06 [UNKNOWN]: Eight months later, possession of, he was arrested for possession of contraband machine parts and put on six months of trash duty.
01:53:07 --> 01:53:15 [UNKNOWN]: And then one year after that, he was arrested for possession and assembly of contraband machine parts.
01:53:15 --> 01:53:17 [UNKNOWN]: And that's when he was sent to the mines.
01:53:17 --> 01:53:26 [UNKNOWN]: And then so yeah, he worked in the mines basically only six months and in that time, got a concussion and then a spinal ulceration.
01:53:26 --> 01:53:31 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that pretty would box up everything everybody's been saying about the mines.
01:53:31 --> 01:53:32 [UNKNOWN]: Mm, yeah.
01:53:33 --> 01:53:37 [UNKNOWN]: So that's why he's like, it's a death sentence, yeah.
01:53:38 --> 01:53:44 [UNKNOWN]: And I guess Knox pulled some strings to get him back in his father's old job.
01:53:45 --> 01:53:45 [UNKNOWN]: It seems.
01:53:46 --> 01:53:48 [UNKNOWN]: Not that his father was the head, but he was a machinist.
01:53:49 --> 01:53:52 [UNKNOWN]: And then apparently, Mark just rose up to the top of that department.
01:53:54 --> 01:53:54 [UNKNOWN]: OK.
01:53:55 --> 01:53:57 [UNKNOWN]: So that's the story of Mark Chambers.
01:53:59 --> 01:54:01 [UNKNOWN]: It was nice seeing Knox and Julie
01:54:03 --> 01:54:03 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, it was.
01:54:05 --> 01:54:07 [UNKNOWN]: Like, sorry, it was a more helpful.
01:54:07 --> 01:54:07 [UNKNOWN]: It's okay.
01:54:07 --> 01:54:09 [UNKNOWN]: I'm just going to hold it against you forever.
01:54:09 --> 01:54:11 [UNKNOWN]: I'm like, yeah, that sounded like Julie Edna.
01:54:11 --> 01:54:13 [UNKNOWN]: No, it was for as long as I can remember.
01:54:16 --> 01:54:17 [UNKNOWN]: That's even better.
01:54:17 --> 01:54:20 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:54:21 --> 01:54:25 [UNKNOWN]: And yeah, I just want to point out that we also saw Billings running down the stairs at this time.
01:54:25 --> 01:54:28 [UNKNOWN]: I guess, you know, his Oralian investigation.
01:54:29 --> 01:54:36 [UNKNOWN]: I don't think he was necessarily running in the direction of the minds, but then when he sees a fumigation stuff happening, he's like, what's going on?
01:54:36 --> 01:54:40 [UNKNOWN]: And they tell him, and now he becomes interested in what's going on in the minds for obvious reasons.
01:54:42 --> 01:54:46 [UNKNOWN]: And also I want to shout out Shavam Logan on Blue Sky responded to us.
01:54:46 --> 01:54:53 [UNKNOWN]: And she said, is Camille going to the dark side, desperate to save her son's memory of them in his life?
01:54:54 --> 01:54:56 [UNKNOWN]: What's a woman to do with the genocidal
01:54:58 --> 01:55:01 [UNKNOWN]: So that's the question, I need thoughts on that.
01:55:04 --> 01:55:10 [UNKNOWN]: I kind of thought Camille was already on the dark side, so I don't think she's going to the dark side.
01:55:10 --> 01:55:12 [UNKNOWN]: I think she's already there.
01:55:12 --> 01:55:13 [UNKNOWN]: She's been there for a while.
01:55:14 --> 01:55:21 [UNKNOWN]: I've always thought, I mean, yeah, well, okay, we'll talk in shortly about her.
01:55:22 --> 01:55:24 [UNKNOWN]: I've always thought there was a softer side to her.
01:55:24 --> 01:55:25 [UNKNOWN]: You know, I have a soft spot for Camille.
01:55:26 --> 01:55:28 [UNKNOWN]: I don't think she's as bad as people say she is.
01:55:28 --> 01:55:31 [UNKNOWN]: But we'll say she's a chance to prove herself one way or another.
01:55:32 --> 01:55:34 [UNKNOWN]: And on that, let's take a quick break here.
01:55:34 --> 01:55:40 [UNKNOWN]: When we come back, we will finish up the episode and talk about the book version of The Mines and how it compares.
01:55:41 --> 01:55:41 [UNKNOWN]: Very back.
01:55:45 --> 01:55:52 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, so let's check in on, we've got some depth dealers on the loose as the fumigators begin filling the minds with gas.
01:55:52 --> 01:55:57 [UNKNOWN]: The miners try to escape through a locked gate that some judicial goons race to unlock.
01:55:57 --> 01:55:58 [UNKNOWN]: I shouldn't call them goons here.
01:55:58 --> 01:55:59 [UNKNOWN]: They did the good thing at least there.
01:56:00 --> 01:56:07 [UNKNOWN]: People begin spilling out and collapsing and knocks rushes in to look for head of mines at Harwood.
01:56:07 --> 01:56:11 [UNKNOWN]: And Juliet grabs a gas mask as she's filled in on what's going on from another miner.
01:56:12 --> 01:56:25 [UNKNOWN]: Inside the mines, she gives her masks to a man who is choking, who instead of sharing it with her just takes it and runs away, but Juliet keeps going deeper, with only her jacket to protect her until she eventually collapses.
01:56:26 --> 01:56:31 [UNKNOWN]: Someone with a cloth mask finds her and carries her out, and it's Lucas Kyle, Avinaush.
01:56:31 --> 01:56:44 [UNKNOWN]: But Judicial has spotted him, so with Juliette safely back outside the mines, Lucas takes off running in the Goons send for a medic for Juliette and Knox re-emerges as well.
01:56:45 --> 01:56:54 [UNKNOWN]: Judicial pursues Lucas who ducks into a storage room losing them, and he arms himself as he waits, but when the door opens, it's not Judicial, it's Danny Bly and Sandy.
01:56:54 --> 01:56:56 [UNKNOWN]: They found their man, finally.
01:56:57 --> 01:57:05 [UNKNOWN]: Billings finds his missing person as well, but it's not good news, or Lord Kent is carried out of the mind's presumed dead.
01:57:06 --> 01:57:10 [UNKNOWN]: I don't want to say if she's not dead, she's certainly very ill, it's po- Yeah.
01:57:11 --> 01:57:12 [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
01:57:12 --> 01:57:14 [UNKNOWN]: She was certainly at least unconscious.
01:57:15 --> 01:57:17 [UNKNOWN]: I'm looking very, very, very sort of-
01:57:19 --> 01:57:19 [UNKNOWN]: right.
01:57:20 --> 01:57:20 [UNKNOWN]: Not good.
01:57:21 --> 01:57:23 [UNKNOWN]: I can't really think of a better way of putting that.
01:57:23 --> 01:57:31 [UNKNOWN]: But is it, yeah, the question is, like, was she already, like, is it because of the poison or was she already not good before that?
01:57:32 --> 01:57:33 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's that is a good question.
01:57:34 --> 01:57:42 [UNKNOWN]: The thing I can't think of the thing that the puzzles me about this whole thing is, how is Camille going to explain this at the next council later?
01:57:44 --> 01:57:54 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, well, I mean, we'll talk about that in a minute, but just for the mind's action, well, first of all, Knox, Juliet, you know, she had her jacket and she fell down.
01:57:55 --> 01:58:08 [UNKNOWN]: Knox was only using his t-shirt, like this is t-shirt have super filtration action because or does he or my other my head can and was he has because he was perfectly fine, like he ran and I guess he didn't go as deep as Juliet.
01:58:09 --> 01:58:10 [UNKNOWN]: but he was perfectly fine.
01:58:10 --> 01:58:21 [UNKNOWN]: So I decided, remember last season when the there was rat poison in the food in mechanical and he just like wipes it on his pants instead of washing his hand.
01:58:21 --> 01:58:23 [UNKNOWN]: I'm like he's built up a tolerance.
01:58:28 --> 01:58:39 [UNKNOWN]: I'm done as a good hand, I'm done as a good hand, I'm done as a good hand can, and I'm lost, yeah, I can't wait to see Lucas talking to the outsiders.
01:58:39 --> 01:58:48 [UNKNOWN]: He's about to drop some serious truth bombs, and I need to know who got Orla and why, and like, is it, it seems like,
01:58:49 --> 01:58:56 [UNKNOWN]: finger, you know, the fact she's found in the mines seems to finger at harwood, but now, why do I feel like this Mike boyfriend dude?
01:58:57 --> 01:58:58 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, my boyfriend is framing him.
01:58:59 --> 01:59:00 [UNKNOWN]: My boyfriend's shady as hell.
01:59:01 --> 01:59:05 [UNKNOWN]: I'm saying my boyfriend is the big buddy.
01:59:05 --> 01:59:07 [UNKNOWN]: You can get me if a dog loves you.
01:59:08 --> 01:59:11 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, like you can fool me into the mean, you're a nice person of a dog love you.
01:59:13 --> 01:59:22 [UNKNOWN]: Like dogs are a good trick, you know, they, uh, good, um, a test of character and then, yeah, someone will bring up Hitler head of dog and I know I know I know.
01:59:24 --> 01:59:27 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, so then we end with the double debrief.
01:59:28 --> 01:59:41 [UNKNOWN]: Juliet is now in a hospital on oxygen under the care of nurse Amy, and Amy expresses where either Juliet might not make it, emphasizing the importance to Emerson of keeping a close watch in Juliet's door.
01:59:42 --> 01:59:45 [UNKNOWN]: Only Juliet's doctors and Mrs. Sims, of course, my enter.
01:59:46 --> 01:59:50 [UNKNOWN]: The algorithm tells Camille that she has a unique opportunity.
01:59:50 --> 02:00:01 [UNKNOWN]: The voice says she can greatly increase the silo survival probability by killing Juliette and using her story of bravery as propaganda to bring the rest of the silo together.
02:00:03 --> 02:00:09 [UNKNOWN]: So first of all, are we worried about Deputy Jerry who's probably in trouble for letting Juliette do her own thing?
02:00:09 --> 02:00:13 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, Deputy Jerry is in serious, serious trouble.
02:00:15 --> 02:00:21 [UNKNOWN]: because it's really, it can't be like, oh, she gave me the slip and what, you've just been standing there that whole time?
02:00:21 --> 02:00:23 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, exactly.
02:00:23 --> 02:00:31 [UNKNOWN]: And I think like, can we just rip off the bandaid and say that we don't think Julie, it's going to die?
02:00:31 --> 02:00:38 [UNKNOWN]: No, I mean, let's, like I said, it's Rebecca Ferguson, big star, exactly to produce her.
02:00:38 --> 02:00:41 [UNKNOWN]: I don't see how you can get closer on the thick of a mat.
02:00:45 --> 02:00:47 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, I completely agree with which you were saying before.
02:00:47 --> 02:00:57 [UNKNOWN]: Like this whole story, Julia to Hero, regardless, if people remember this, yeah, me or comes out of how does Camille not come out of this looking like a villain?
02:00:57 --> 02:01:01 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, like how are you going to explain this at the next council meeting?
02:01:01 --> 02:01:02 [UNKNOWN]: There was a rough investigation.
02:01:02 --> 02:01:03 [UNKNOWN]: We had to drop the bomb.
02:01:04 --> 02:01:06 [UNKNOWN]: Well, you're gonna talk to everybody first.
02:01:06 --> 02:01:08 [UNKNOWN]: You could have graduated the lines.
02:01:09 --> 02:01:13 [UNKNOWN]: Like, what rat infestation is such an urgent origin.
02:01:13 --> 02:01:15 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, they're going to eat the iron.
02:01:15 --> 02:01:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, like what, what kind of rats do you have, don't you?
02:01:18 --> 02:01:27 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, like, but no, but no, did this with like the good, I mean, it had less fatal consequences, but but not did this with the good take last season.
02:01:27 --> 02:01:32 [UNKNOWN]: It's how are you going to expect you just creating more problems for yourself?
02:01:35 --> 02:01:38 [UNKNOWN]: There is no, there's no way of explaining this.
02:01:38 --> 02:01:39 [UNKNOWN]: There's no way of spinning this.
02:01:39 --> 02:01:43 [UNKNOWN]: People have died for no good reason.
02:01:44 --> 02:01:47 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, I really don't know where Camille was going to go with this.
02:01:48 --> 02:01:50 [UNKNOWN]: Well then it also makes me think like...
02:01:51 --> 02:01:57 [UNKNOWN]: is the algorithm going to paint Camille as the villain now, like they did with Bernard.
02:01:58 --> 02:02:02 [UNKNOWN]: If she become the liability, now the algorithms like now we get rid of her.
02:02:02 --> 02:02:07 [UNKNOWN]: Absolutely, but then again, but there is no shadow to the head of IT at the moment.
02:02:08 --> 02:02:09 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, true.
02:02:09 --> 02:02:15 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, yeah, they'd have to find another, and start over, maybe the algorithm like would like that.
02:02:15 --> 02:02:17 [UNKNOWN]: Like, let me just start over from scratch with someone.
02:02:17 --> 02:02:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:02:19 --> 02:02:22 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know who, who do you think the algorithm would choose next, if not for me.
02:02:23 --> 02:02:25 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, who, who?
02:02:25 --> 02:02:26 [UNKNOWN]: Good question.
02:02:28 --> 02:02:29 [UNKNOWN]: Um, Billings.
02:02:29 --> 02:02:30 [UNKNOWN]: Billings?
02:02:30 --> 02:02:31 [UNKNOWN]: Billings?
02:02:32 --> 02:02:36 [UNKNOWN]: Even though his wife was does the algorithm know that Kathleen has been with the outsiders.
02:02:37 --> 02:02:38 [UNKNOWN]: I guess not, because...
02:02:41 --> 02:02:45 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, if you can do, um, you can do curiosity, maybe Walker.
02:02:46 --> 02:02:50 [UNKNOWN]: But no, but I don't get the algorithm down like that's for no things.
02:02:50 --> 02:02:51 [UNKNOWN]: That's for no one's thing.
02:02:51 --> 02:03:11 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so will we the algorithm says have you ever considered why you were chosen to be head of IT and My note is no because it certainly wasn't for her curiosity But yeah, she's like is it peak I assumed it was my training is a rater in the algorithms like no My ability to remain calm under pressure.
02:03:12 --> 02:03:13 [UNKNOWN]: No see orders through no
02:03:14 --> 02:03:16 [UNKNOWN]: It's because you're a liar.
02:03:16 --> 02:03:26 [UNKNOWN]: I just remind, you know, this whole thing about Juliet being confronted with parts of herself reflected in other people, she's like, oh, am I a good person?
02:03:26 --> 02:03:32 [UNKNOWN]: Or we talked with Charlotte too, she was like, I don't sound like a great sister, you know, in the last episode.
02:03:33 --> 02:03:36 [UNKNOWN]: And now Camille's like, oh, I'm a liar.
02:03:36 --> 02:03:38 [UNKNOWN]: That's my identifying feature, yikes.
02:03:39 --> 02:03:43 [UNKNOWN]: And she especially, like, the algorithm called her out from manipulating her husband.
02:03:44 --> 02:03:45 [UNKNOWN]: I did that.
02:03:45 --> 02:03:46 [UNKNOWN]: Oh yeah, I did that.
02:03:46 --> 02:03:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:03:47 --> 02:03:53 [UNKNOWN]: Playing those sides, overcoming moral quams, the girl then says, at its core, the job requires deception.
02:03:54 --> 02:03:56 [UNKNOWN]: I'm the algorithm is not wrong.
02:03:56 --> 02:04:00 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, but does it have to?
02:04:00 --> 02:04:01 [UNKNOWN]: That's the question.
02:04:01 --> 02:04:04 [UNKNOWN]: Does it actually require deception?
02:04:05 --> 02:04:08 [UNKNOWN]: Or is that just the way that the order is written?
02:04:08 --> 02:04:11 [UNKNOWN]: Is the order the best way to do things?
02:04:12 --> 02:04:13 [UNKNOWN]: And at the end of the day is the question.
02:04:14 --> 02:04:14 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:04:15 --> 02:04:26 [UNKNOWN]: Also, I find it like putting the show notes, I find it really interesting that the algorithm can detect when people are lying and can like breed people's biometric signs.
02:04:28 --> 02:04:42 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, um, yeah, the, because the algorithm questions can meals ability to be 100% calculating, citing the time that she let fugitive Julia go after she broke into her apartment to watch that video.
02:04:42 --> 02:04:48 [UNKNOWN]: And, and can meals like, yeah, no, I was worried about the Raiders putting my son at risk, which is what she told Robert about it.
02:04:49 --> 02:04:55 [UNKNOWN]: But the algorithm calls her out for lying because it can measure her like cortisol and her breath or what is it elevated,
02:04:56 --> 02:04:58 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, no, it was, yeah, cause I want to break.
02:04:59 --> 02:05:03 [UNKNOWN]: And something else, too, or, but I'm maybe I'm thinking of Daredevil with that one.
02:05:03 --> 02:05:04 [UNKNOWN]: But that's how Daredevil tells people, aren't I?
02:05:07 --> 02:05:26 [UNKNOWN]: And yeah, Camille finally says fine, I admire Juliette, her curiosity and her determination and wanted to see what she would learn, but she says it's a mistake and that she basically she's like, well, if it's between my son remembering his childhood and murder, murder, it is, but do you believe her?
02:05:31 --> 02:05:35 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know why I shouldn't see it and don't even wrong.
02:05:35 --> 02:05:47 [UNKNOWN]: I think if it is a straight-up choice between the Vitamin D plus and the Saithyard, she will choose the Vitamin D plus, but she's not there yet.
02:05:47 --> 02:05:50 [UNKNOWN]: She hasn't resigned herself to that being her only choice.
02:05:52 --> 02:05:52 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, fair.
02:05:53 --> 02:06:06 [UNKNOWN]: Um, because I think at the end of the day, what she was saying to Robert early rom does reflect how she feels, you know, Anthony may not remember parts of his childhood, but he will be alive.
02:06:06 --> 02:06:15 [UNKNOWN]: And I think that's the thing, I don't think, I'm just going to say I don't think she cares about what happens to the rest of the silo, but I don't think that's right.
02:06:16 --> 02:06:20 [UNKNOWN]: She doesn't care as much about what happens to the rest of the silo, and she cares
02:06:23 --> 02:06:30 [UNKNOWN]: Like I think, to sort of paraphrase Terry and Lannister, you love your children.
02:06:30 --> 02:06:31 [UNKNOWN]: It's your one redeeming feature.
02:06:31 --> 02:06:44 [UNKNOWN]: That makes you, that makes you, that makes you, and I do think for both Sims, the one redeeming feature is, there's, they love each other and they love anything.
02:06:45 --> 02:06:50 [UNKNOWN]: I think that's what, that's what was sort of, that is what redeems them as people and
02:06:52 --> 02:07:06 [UNKNOWN]: And this is why I don't share your relationship nihilism when it comes to the sims that I don't know that either of them will make it out or that either of both will make it out, but I don't.
02:07:08 --> 02:07:14 [UNKNOWN]: I see either way, if they survive or if they die, I see them ending on the same team.
02:07:14 --> 02:07:20 [UNKNOWN]: That's my prediction because I think they do have a partnership that can be tested.
02:07:20 --> 02:07:25 [UNKNOWN]: But I guess I need to believe that partnerships can be tested and still make it through.
02:07:26 --> 02:07:32 [UNKNOWN]: And they have every reason for it because of this shared love of their son and shared values and all that.
02:07:32 --> 02:07:33 [UNKNOWN]: I guess, yeah.
02:07:35 --> 02:07:38 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, wait a minute, are we rooting for the simsis?
02:07:39 --> 02:07:42 [UNKNOWN]: Is that where we, is that where we've ended up?
02:07:43 --> 02:07:49 [UNKNOWN]: As a couple, I mean, not to like take down the silo, but to I'm rooting for the simsis two things.
02:07:49 --> 02:07:57 [UNKNOWN]: I would love for them to find security in their love and let their love save them as people morally, too.
02:07:57 --> 02:08:01 [UNKNOWN]: I'm rooting for the simsis to have a redemption
02:08:07 --> 02:08:11 [UNKNOWN]: All right, before we get into the book version of the minds, any final thoughts on the episode?
02:08:12 --> 02:08:12 [UNKNOWN]: Nope.
02:08:13 --> 02:08:16 [UNKNOWN]: Like I said, ten foil was in very short supply this week.
02:08:16 --> 02:08:20 [UNKNOWN]: It was mostly just, I had a lot of questions.
02:08:20 --> 02:08:24 [UNKNOWN]: And I think you as the book reader release have been quite a good job in answering most of them, so...
02:08:25 --> 02:08:38 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, because I think that this is an episode that is especially about mechanics and I do think they're rearranging the parts of the story, but I think they're doing it in order to illustrate the same mechanics, which is like about.
02:08:39 --> 02:08:52 [UNKNOWN]: the memory drug, especially at this point, obviously, and the relationship between the algorithm and the silo and the order and the packed and all that, you know.
02:08:54 --> 02:08:55 [UNKNOWN]: But about the minds.
02:08:56 --> 02:09:14 [UNKNOWN]: they I mean there's some changes for the mind so here's what we know about the minds from wool the first book i'll just say that there's a scene we just get like little in the first book we just get little like blips of information kind of like we did in the first two seasons that covers the first book in the show.
02:09:15 --> 02:09:35 [UNKNOWN]: So for example, for one thing, Julia, when you look out of the cafeteria in the book version, you can see that ruined city that Julia saw in the distance when she went up top, you know, when she went outside, you can just see that through the cafeteria sensor because, yeah.
02:09:36 --> 02:09:38 [UNKNOWN]: for whatever reason, how it's positioned.
02:09:38 --> 02:09:58 [UNKNOWN]: You can see that city in the distance, and Julia, the first mention we have of the mines is she's looking at it and she's seeing the tainted steel of crumbling towers visible over the heels, steel, it would no doubt cost more to reclaim transport, melt and purify than it would to simply pull new ore from the mines beneath the silo.
02:09:58 --> 02:10:03 [UNKNOWN]: So again, beneath the silo, but I wonder if geology plays a role in them
02:10:07 --> 02:10:19 [UNKNOWN]: And then there's another bit where during the bit where she and Lucas are befriending each other in their cafeteria visits, which we get more of in the book.
02:10:20 --> 02:10:30 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, to basically she's comparing Lucas looking out to the stars that's kind of his escape, you know, he's got his day job and IT, but he looks out to the stars.
02:10:31 --> 02:10:37 [UNKNOWN]: And she's got her day job in mechanical, which is way down at the bottom, so she doesn't normally look out at the stars.
02:10:37 --> 02:10:46 [UNKNOWN]: Her getting away from things is that she spending what spare time she could down the mines as far away as possible hunting for pretty rocks.
02:10:47 --> 02:10:57 [UNKNOWN]: So it's not like this death trap, it sounds like it's just a place where she as a non-minor can visit and just go rock hunting to get away for a second.
02:10:58 --> 02:10:59 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that sounds cool.
02:11:00 --> 02:11:14 [UNKNOWN]: Well, um, there's another bit in where she's in silo 17 with solo and she's talking about the, he mentions the digger in his silo, um, since obviously each silo has a digger.
02:11:15 --> 02:11:25 [UNKNOWN]: That was just, again, friend of and does her remember the, basically it's implied that they just dug straight down and then just left the digger there and built the silo on top of it.
02:11:26 --> 02:11:42 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and so she's thinking at this time about how she wants to get back to her silo and uh, she's like, oh, what about that digger could we like do something that and he's like, well, no, it doesn't work and, um, and it's, and it's flooded.
02:11:42 --> 02:11:52 [UNKNOWN]: So, so no, we can't use that digger because it's all underwater anyway, but she also remembers helping to dig things out of the mines by hand, which I think is interesting.
02:11:54 --> 02:12:12 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and she also, like, it sounds like she's done mining work a few times just for funsies or to help her something because when she's doing her dive in solid 17, she thinks about when she's like using pulling herself hand over hand with a breathing tube, she's like, oh, it's like pulling a mining bucket up out of a deep shaft.
02:12:14 --> 02:12:19 [UNKNOWN]: So like the mines were like her place to chill, like I go to the movies, Julia went to the mines.
02:12:21 --> 02:12:24 [UNKNOWN]: Well, you know, you say you can find pretty rocks down there.
02:12:25 --> 02:12:25 [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
02:12:26 --> 02:12:28 [UNKNOWN]: Or is she just sometimes helped them, it seems like.
02:12:31 --> 02:12:49 [UNKNOWN]: And then, yeah, the other time we really hear it mentioned is from like Knox Walker and Shirley's perspective, and I'll just remind people I've said before that there's another character in the book named Mark and my RCK, who was Shirley's husband, but he doesn't exist in the show obviously
02:12:52 --> 02:13:09 [UNKNOWN]: So Knox is when he, during the rebellion and he goes up a few levels to supply to like let's team up in this rebellion thing there's tension and Knox is surprised by it because he's like, he had expected a more amicable welcome mechanical and supply had a long history together.
02:13:10 --> 02:13:16 [UNKNOWN]: They jointly ran the small mine beneath the lowest levels of mechanical that supplemented the silos stock pile of ors.
02:13:18 --> 02:13:23 [UNKNOWN]: So again, it's confirmed to the minds in the book below, find different plays if we talked about that.
02:13:24 --> 02:13:33 [UNKNOWN]: But also that mechanical and supply random together, whereas here, it seems they're their own separate division, which Ed Harwood runs, or is that head up?
02:13:33 --> 02:13:38 [UNKNOWN]: OK, or is that like a difference between the main line and the little side project?
02:13:40 --> 02:13:41 [UNKNOWN]: No, in the book they're talking about the main minds.
02:13:42 --> 02:13:42 [UNKNOWN]: OK.
02:13:43 --> 02:13:45 [UNKNOWN]: There's only one set of minds, I would say.
02:13:45 --> 02:13:46 [UNKNOWN]: OK.
02:13:47 --> 02:14:07 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and then yeah, there's also during the rebellion, there's a reference where Mark notices that surely his wife again is is, um, looking nervous about the whole rebellion thing and he says she bit her lip and stared at him with uncharacteristic fear.
02:14:07 --> 02:14:12 [UNKNOWN]: Mark had never seen his wife phased, not by a sprung casement leak, not by a cave in deep in
02:14:15 --> 02:14:17 [UNKNOWN]: not even when Juliet was sent to cleaning.
02:14:19 --> 02:14:22 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, the caveins also problem makes sense.
02:14:22 --> 02:14:23 [UNKNOWN]: Fine.
02:14:23 --> 02:14:25 [UNKNOWN]: Yep, definitely.
02:14:26 --> 02:14:37 [UNKNOWN]: Another one is during the rebellion, Shirley and Walker end up retreating to the generator room to sort of, that's like their last stand sort of place, but Shirley and Walker actually, they're not fighting.
02:14:37 --> 02:14:40 [UNKNOWN]: They're working on a separate mechanical project.
02:14:41 --> 02:14:41 [UNKNOWN]: And,
02:14:42 --> 02:14:45 [UNKNOWN]: And Julia, I'm sorry, surely needs a part.
02:14:46 --> 02:14:47 [UNKNOWN]: She needs a transmitter.
02:14:47 --> 02:14:54 [UNKNOWN]: So she decides, I guess Walker is like, oh wait, you can get it from the minds.
02:14:54 --> 02:15:01 [UNKNOWN]: There's transmitters that they use for the explosives, so that they, I guess, can set up an explosive and go away and transmit the thing.
02:15:02 --> 02:15:03 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
02:15:04 --> 02:15:14 [UNKNOWN]: And so there's also a mining storage room under mechanical where Julia runs to to get this transmitter and this is whole tense interlude in the book that where that happens and so yeah.
02:15:17 --> 02:15:19 [UNKNOWN]: It's also in shift.
02:15:20 --> 02:15:35 [UNKNOWN]: The second book, we don't really get many references because as I said, it's mostly about the backstory, but we do get also get solo's backstory in shift and during that when he's locked himself in the vault and, you know, he's
02:15:36 --> 02:15:39 [UNKNOWN]: he knows that there's other people outside who are threatening him and stuff.
02:15:40 --> 02:15:45 [UNKNOWN]: It says, um, basically, he's listening in on them talking because he is surveillance equipment in there as well.
02:15:46 --> 02:15:54 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, and one of the things he hears him talk about is that the flooding came from the mines, which if it's at the bottom of the silo that makes sense.
02:15:54 --> 02:15:55 [UNKNOWN]: It's groundwater coming up.
02:15:56 --> 02:15:57 [UNKNOWN]: Yep.
02:15:57 --> 02:16:00 [UNKNOWN]: And then, okay, the last thing is a longer section.
02:16:01 --> 02:16:06 [UNKNOWN]: So there's something about the minds and then there's something that's also interesting for another reason.
02:16:07 --> 02:16:19 [UNKNOWN]: So I'm gonna set this up and this is actually, this is from wool when Lucas has been sworn in as Bernard's shadow to the head of IT.
02:16:20 --> 02:16:25 [UNKNOWN]: And Lucas takes the opportunity to confront Bernard about George Wilkins' death.
02:16:26 --> 02:16:27 [UNKNOWN]: He's like, okay, fine.
02:16:28 --> 02:16:29 [UNKNOWN]: I'm allowed to ask questions now.
02:16:29 --> 02:16:30 [UNKNOWN]: Here's a question.
02:16:31 --> 02:16:34 [UNKNOWN]: And so Bernard, just kind of answers him.
02:16:34 --> 02:16:37 [UNKNOWN]: And Bernard says, George Wilkins was a dangerous man.
02:16:37 --> 02:16:43 [UNKNOWN]: A man of ideas, the kind we catch in whispers, the kind who poisons the people around him.
02:16:44 --> 02:16:44 [UNKNOWN]: What?
02:16:44 --> 02:16:45 [UNKNOWN]: What do you mean?
02:16:46 --> 02:16:48 [UNKNOWN]: Section 13 of the Order Study It.
02:16:48 --> 02:16:53 [UNKNOWN]: All insurrections would start right there if we let them start with men like him.
02:16:54 --> 02:17:03 [UNKNOWN]: Bernard's chin had lowered to his chest, his eyes peering over the rims of his glasses, the truth coming freely without all the deceit Lucas had planned.
02:17:03 --> 02:17:05 [UNKNOWN]: Lucas never needed that folder.
02:17:06 --> 02:17:12 [UNKNOWN]: He had found the travel logs that coincided with George's death that dozens of wires asking Holston to wrap things up.
02:17:13 --> 02:17:16 [UNKNOWN]: But now he saw he never even needed to ask for the folder at all.
02:17:16 --> 02:17:18 [UNKNOWN]: There was no shame in Bernard.
02:17:18 --> 02:17:20 [UNKNOWN]: George Wilkins hadn't died.
02:17:20 --> 02:17:21 [UNKNOWN]: He'd been murdered.
02:17:25 --> 02:17:28 [UNKNOWN]: What did he do, Lucas asked quietly?
02:17:29 --> 02:17:30 [UNKNOWN]: I'll tell you what he did.
02:17:30 --> 02:17:31 [UNKNOWN]: He was a mechanic, a greaser.
02:17:32 --> 02:17:39 [UNKNOWN]: We started hearing chatter from the porters about these planned circulating ideas for expanding the mind, doing a lateral dig.
02:17:40 --> 02:17:42 [UNKNOWN]: As you know, lateral digs are forbidden.
02:17:43 --> 02:17:50 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, obviously, Lucas had a mental image of miners from silo 18 pushing through and meeting miners from silo 19.
02:17:50 --> 02:17:52 [UNKNOWN]: It would be awkward to say the least.
02:17:53 --> 02:18:01 [UNKNOWN]: A long chat with the old head of mechanical put an end to that nonsense and then George Wilkins came up with the idea of expanding downward.
02:18:01 --> 02:18:07 [UNKNOWN]: He and some others drew up some schematics for a level 150 and then a level 160.
02:18:07 --> 02:18:09 [UNKNOWN]: 12 more levels to begin with.
02:18:10 --> 02:18:17 [UNKNOWN]: That was a talk anyway, just whispers and sketches, but some of these whispers landed in a porter's ear and then our ears perked up.
02:18:18 --> 02:18:19 [UNKNOWN]: So you killed him?
02:18:20 --> 02:18:22 [UNKNOWN]: Someone did, yes, it doesn't matter who.
02:18:23 --> 02:18:28 [UNKNOWN]: Bernard just did his glasses with one hand, the other stayed in the belly of his coveralls.
02:18:28 --> 02:18:31 [UNKNOWN]: You'll have to do these things one day, son.
02:18:31 --> 02:18:32 [UNKNOWN]: You know that, don't you?
02:18:33 --> 02:18:34 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but no butts.
02:18:35 --> 02:18:36 [UNKNOWN]: Bernard shook his head slowly.
02:18:37 --> 02:18:38 [UNKNOWN]: Some men are like a virus.
02:18:38 --> 02:18:43 [UNKNOWN]: Unless you want to see a plague breakouts, you inoculate the silo against them.
02:18:43 --> 02:18:44 [UNKNOWN]: You remove them.
02:18:44 --> 02:18:46 [UNKNOWN]: Lucas remains silent.
02:18:46 --> 02:18:49 [UNKNOWN]: We removed 14 threats this year, Lucas.
02:18:50 --> 02:18:55 [UNKNOWN]: Do you have any idea with the average life expectancy would be if we weren't proactive about these things?
02:18:56 --> 02:19:06 [UNKNOWN]: But the cleanings, useful for dealing with people who want out, who dream of a better world, this uprising we're having right now is full of people like that.
02:19:07 --> 02:19:09 [UNKNOWN]: But it's just one sort of sickness we deal with.
02:19:09 --> 02:19:12 [UNKNOWN]: The cleaning is one sort of cure.
02:19:12 --> 02:19:17 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not sure if someone with a different illness would even clean if we sent them out there.
02:19:17 --> 02:19:20 [UNKNOWN]: They have to want to see what we show them for it to work.
02:19:21 --> 02:19:27 [UNKNOWN]: this reminded Lucas of what he learned of the helmets, the visors, which again is the out the fake green video.
02:19:28 --> 02:19:42 [UNKNOWN]: So thought so yeah, there's there's about the lateral digs in the mines, but there's also stuff about the difference between sending someone to clean and just killing them is you have to they have to want to believe what we want them to
02:19:48 --> 02:20:01 [UNKNOWN]: Oh no, I think it's quite interesting, the difference between the book and the TV series, while you were reading that though, I did just sort of picture in my head, it being Tim rompins and having Ash.
02:20:02 --> 02:20:02 [UNKNOWN]: Right, yeah.
02:20:02 --> 02:20:03 [UNKNOWN]: Me too, to be honest.
02:20:04 --> 02:20:04 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:20:04 --> 02:20:06 [UNKNOWN]: You know, obviously I didn't used to think that, but no.
02:20:07 --> 02:20:12 [UNKNOWN]: Um, but yeah, no, and you can also tell the whatever changes they
02:20:16 --> 02:20:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, obviously this exchange didn't happen in the book.
02:20:18 --> 02:20:23 [UNKNOWN]: Did we see we didn't see, we saw Julia directly confront Bernard about George.
02:20:23 --> 02:20:24 [UNKNOWN]: It wasn't that Luke is confronted.
02:20:26 --> 02:20:30 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, this could have very well taken place in the show.
02:20:30 --> 02:20:32 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah.
02:20:33 --> 02:20:42 [UNKNOWN]: No digging laterally, people have to see what you, you know, yeah, they have to want to see your lies for them to work.
02:20:42 --> 02:20:45 [UNKNOWN]: I think that's important also with the memory drug too in a certain way.
02:20:46 --> 02:20:50 [UNKNOWN]: And I think it's true in real life that people just want things to be easy.
02:20:50 --> 02:20:55 [UNKNOWN]: And that's why the reset has worked to six times as the algorithm said because people just want
02:20:56 --> 02:20:59 [UNKNOWN]: to accept the easy answer, or things are peaceful.
02:21:00 --> 02:21:04 [UNKNOWN]: I do have this, this image of digging, of Patrick Kennedy.
02:21:04 --> 02:21:08 [UNKNOWN]: Just, just, Patrick Kennedy in the outside is just running into the miners.
02:21:09 --> 02:21:10 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, yeah.
02:21:10 --> 02:21:10 [UNKNOWN]: Sorry.
02:21:10 --> 02:21:11 [UNKNOWN]: I'd seen nothing.
02:21:11 --> 02:21:12 [UNKNOWN]: Right?
02:21:12 --> 02:21:13 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:21:13 --> 02:21:16 [UNKNOWN]: And then some Benny Hill music plays and they don't have anything to do.
02:21:16 --> 02:21:17 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:21:19 --> 02:21:26 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I guess Lucas has now met the outsiders, so I guess we'll see Lucas and Patrick Kennedy interact next week, hopefully.
02:21:27 --> 02:21:28 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's it.
02:21:28 --> 02:21:33 [UNKNOWN]: I'm really looking forward to that conversation because Patrick Kennedy's little mind is about to be brought home.
02:21:38 --> 02:21:39 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, one more comment that we got.
02:21:39 --> 02:21:41 [UNKNOWN]: I went into bringing up, see your thoughts.
02:21:43 --> 02:21:51 [UNKNOWN]: Paul K said, in the 1950s Noir version of Silent Daniel is played by either Jimmy Stewart or Humphrey Bogart, can't decide a little of both.
02:21:52 --> 02:21:53 [UNKNOWN]: What do you think about that?
02:21:54 --> 02:21:55 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
02:21:55 --> 02:21:59 [UNKNOWN]: Now, Humphrey Bogart doesn't even enter into the conversation he is, Jimmy Stewart.
02:21:59 --> 02:22:10 [UNKNOWN]: I said Jimmy Stewart too, and but then I said Jimmy Stewart because we talked about Jimmy Stewart by the way, and it's a wonderful life episode, if anyone's interested in that for one, because in special few years ago.
02:22:12 --> 02:22:18 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, you talked then about Jimmy Stewart was actually a hero pilot, so he's also Charlotte.
02:22:19 --> 02:22:20 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, he is.
02:22:23 --> 02:22:23 [UNKNOWN]: Do we have an idea?
02:22:24 --> 02:22:25 [UNKNOWN]: Do we think like,
02:22:26 --> 02:22:30 [UNKNOWN]: who we would um uh children.
02:22:31 --> 02:22:34 [UNKNOWN]: No, I was I was thinking Julia in the silo.
02:22:34 --> 02:22:38 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, no, right, no, because he's talking about uh Daniel.
02:22:39 --> 02:22:43 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm I'm saying Lauren Bacol for room for Julia.
02:22:43 --> 02:22:44 [UNKNOWN]: No, for Helen.
02:22:44 --> 02:22:45 [UNKNOWN]: For Helen, okay.
02:22:45 --> 02:22:46 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:22:47 --> 02:22:49 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know about Julia's.
02:22:51 --> 02:22:51 [UNKNOWN]: Uh,
02:22:53 --> 02:22:56 [UNKNOWN]: Greg, Greg, my lane and D trick possibly.
02:22:57 --> 02:23:00 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, yeah, I was going to say Catherine Hepburn.
02:23:01 --> 02:23:03 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that would work as well.
02:23:04 --> 02:23:05 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that would definitely work.
02:23:06 --> 02:23:08 [UNKNOWN]: How about who would carry Grant B?
02:23:09 --> 02:23:10 [UNKNOWN]: You have to give a carry Grant a role.
02:23:12 --> 02:23:12 [UNKNOWN]: Bernard.
02:23:14 --> 02:23:14 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, no.
02:23:14 --> 02:23:16 [UNKNOWN]: Like he's playing against Type.
02:23:17 --> 02:23:18 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, okay.
02:23:19 --> 02:23:20 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I could be interesting.
02:23:20 --> 02:23:20 [UNKNOWN]: Could be interesting.
02:23:20 --> 02:23:21 [UNKNOWN]: Who's Lucas?
02:23:24 --> 02:23:26 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah, come back to me on that one, no.
02:23:27 --> 02:23:27 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
02:23:29 --> 02:23:42 [UNKNOWN]: Well, if anyone at home wants to cast the 1950s or 40s, noir version of Silo, send us some feedback and we'll continue to discuss our noir set.
02:23:42 --> 02:23:42 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, okay.
02:23:42 --> 02:23:45 [UNKNOWN]: And Robert Sims is Robert Mitchell.
02:23:45 --> 02:23:47 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, all right, I'm with you.
02:23:47 --> 02:23:48 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
02:23:50 --> 02:24:03 [UNKNOWN]: Well, we will be back again next week as our full weekly coverage continues, uh, and our will of course be weekly extras again in the subscriber feeds, uh, in addition to your 1950s noir silo thoughts.
02:24:03 --> 02:24:07 [UNKNOWN]: We want to hear your overall thoughts and theories about this series as a whole.
02:24:07 --> 02:24:10 [UNKNOWN]: Please send them to WillShift Us podcast at gmail.com.
02:24:10 --> 02:24:12 [UNKNOWN]: You'll find that linked in the show notes.
02:24:12 --> 02:24:21 [UNKNOWN]: And as I mentioned before, our next mail bag probably won't be until after episode 6, but if there's more urgent feedback, it might sprinkle it in as we did here.
02:24:22 --> 02:24:30 [UNKNOWN]: And of course, book spoilers are okay in those emails because I will see them, but then those spoiler elements will be discussed.
02:24:30 --> 02:24:37 [UNKNOWN]: In the book club episodes, including we do have some feedback we're going to discuss in this week's episode.
02:24:37 --> 02:24:44 [UNKNOWN]: So for more conversation, you can join the discord, which you will find linked in the show notes.
02:24:44 --> 02:24:46 [UNKNOWN]: You'll find an invite there.
02:24:47 --> 02:24:51 [UNKNOWN]: And there we have a silo forum currently under current.
02:24:51 --> 02:24:55 [UNKNOWN]: If you're listening to this later, you'll find it under shows and worlds.
02:24:55 --> 02:25:01 [UNKNOWN]: And there are separate spoiler chats per episode plus a separate chat for book discussions.
02:25:02 --> 02:25:26 [UNKNOWN]: Um, but if you want the full book breakdowns that is in the book club, which is a separate supercast in Patreon feed where Abby and I talk about all the book spoiler stuff, and including this week's topic, we will talk, we talked about the minds and we'll hear, we'll talk about the minds and dust, the third book, which I think they are setting up story from
02:25:26 --> 02:25:40 [UNKNOWN]: I think that's why they're bringing this, yeah, because as we said before, this season shift is more of a prequel dust is more continuing the Juliette story, so they're going to be mixing the tool of them together for the last two seasons.
02:25:41 --> 02:25:46 [UNKNOWN]: If you're interested in joining the book club, you will find that linked in the show notes the.
02:25:47 --> 02:25:53 [UNKNOWN]: the Patreon, sorry, the supercast, silas and feed is the same as the Patreon feed.
02:25:53 --> 02:26:03 [UNKNOWN]: There is also season pass options if you just want access to the, to the silo episodes or parts of the silo episodes.
02:26:04 --> 02:26:07 [UNKNOWN]: Looking at a way to put that on Patreon as well.
02:26:08 --> 02:26:21 [UNKNOWN]: The full subscription options gets you all that plus ad-free access to the other episodes and our other extras like our holiday specials and other doon and you how we stuff.
02:26:22 --> 02:26:24 [UNKNOWN]: Thank you to the new silasans who joined this week.
02:26:24 --> 02:26:31 [UNKNOWN]: Since this episode has already laid to them a bit over wellness weekend, I will be shutting out thank yous to you for the episode four breakdown.
02:26:31 --> 02:26:35 [UNKNOWN]: But I just want to let you know that I've seen it and I really appreciate your support.
02:26:37 --> 02:26:39 [UNKNOWN]: Luke, where can they find you?
02:26:39 --> 02:26:43 [UNKNOWN]: So I am at Lee Midder Pombloose guy and I also do a podcast.
02:26:43 --> 02:26:48 [UNKNOWN]: It could be said with two friends from university, well-cooling and Simon Alfie.
02:26:48 --> 02:26:57 [UNKNOWN]: I think we are recording to late this episode for July tomorrow, the 19th, at least that's the plan.
02:26:59 --> 02:27:06 [UNKNOWN]: So I'm not actually, we need to have our little pre-show meetings, so I'm not entirely sure what we're talking about tomorrow.
02:27:06 --> 02:27:09 [UNKNOWN]: So it'll be a surprise when you tune in for that.
02:27:11 --> 02:27:30 [UNKNOWN]: And on the main Laura Hound's feed, there's weekly coverage of the Vampire Listot, which is this wrapping up this week, and then we're doing a season wrap up with Mark from Nevermind the Music Joining, which, if you know, the Vampire Listot, you know, is a musical season and Mark's a big fan, we're going to have a great discussion about all of that to wrap it up.
02:27:37 --> 02:27:38 [UNKNOWN]: What?
02:27:38 --> 02:27:38 [UNKNOWN]: Maybe.
02:27:38 --> 02:27:43 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, there was some sort of stage play, which I've never seen, but I know I've seen pictures of it.
02:27:43 --> 02:27:44 [UNKNOWN]: Was it Elton John?
02:27:44 --> 02:27:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it was Elton John and Bernie Turpen, I think.
02:27:47 --> 02:27:48 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
02:27:48 --> 02:27:49 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I think it's a musical.
02:27:50 --> 02:27:59 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and no, it makes sense that it's a musical because the Vampire Listart, the second book in the series, after an interview with Vampire, is about Listart becoming a rock star.
02:27:59 --> 02:28:02 [UNKNOWN]: So, so that, yes, yeah, that's what the musical is about.
02:28:02 --> 02:28:04 [UNKNOWN]: That's what this season of television was about.
02:28:04 --> 02:28:05 [UNKNOWN]: And that's why there's music.
02:28:08 --> 02:28:15 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, you can learn more about that in my obsession with that show in our weekly The Vampire Let's Talk coverage.
02:28:15 --> 02:28:21 [UNKNOWN]: There's also David and Jean are leading weekly House of the Dragon coverage, which is going on now.
02:28:22 --> 02:28:30 [UNKNOWN]: Jean and I will be putting out a super girl episode to coincide with its releasing on digital June, I'm sorry, July 28th.
02:28:31 --> 02:28:32 [UNKNOWN]: I think it is.
02:28:32 --> 02:28:34 [UNKNOWN]: So okay episode to coincide with that.
02:28:35 --> 02:28:47 [UNKNOWN]: And also you'll find if you go to the lorehounds.com, you'll find all of the different affiliates in the network, including Dungeons and Do Rags, or newest podcast, which is also currently covering House of the Dragon.
02:28:49 --> 02:28:53 [UNKNOWN]: There's going to be a new Cosmere Corner podcast coming at the end of the month.
02:28:53 --> 02:29:09 [UNKNOWN]: Never mind the music as I mentioned, you might have heard Nicole, the professor of psychology who called in in the mail bag episode that is her and Mark the music expert as I mentioned and you'll also find my own the Star Wars cannon timeline podcast there as well.
02:29:11 --> 02:29:12 [UNKNOWN]: Any final thoughts Luke?
02:29:13 --> 02:29:14 [UNKNOWN]: Nope, that's it.
