00:47 --> 00:50 [UNKNOWN]: In the horror hounds, season wrap up with a special guest.
00:51 --> 00:51 [UNKNOWN]: me.
00:52 --> 00:57 [UNKNOWN]: I mark from never mind the music here to review less stats poor pits for reviews.
00:57 --> 00:59 [UNKNOWN]: Sorry, I don't have the accostal line.
00:59 --> 01:01 [UNKNOWN]: I probably shouldn't do the role.
01:01 --> 01:05 [UNKNOWN]: Do you want to be the answer to our music questions?
01:06 --> 01:07 [UNKNOWN]: I've got a good role.
01:07 --> 01:08 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
01:08 --> 01:08 [UNKNOWN]: You too.
01:08 --> 01:09 [UNKNOWN]: Got a good.
01:09 --> 01:10 [UNKNOWN]: That was really I don't have a role.
01:11 --> 01:12 [UNKNOWN]: That's why I don't even write a song.
01:14 --> 01:14 [UNKNOWN]: Um, yeah.
01:15 --> 01:17 [UNKNOWN]: Happy, I'm sure we'll talk about that later.
01:17 --> 01:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, we will.
01:19 --> 01:22 [UNKNOWN]: Welcome to the horror hounds, the lore hounds.
01:22 --> 01:23 [UNKNOWN]: We have two feeds.
01:23 --> 01:28 [UNKNOWN]: So on the horror hounds, after this, it might be quieter.
01:28 --> 01:33 [UNKNOWN]: Over there for a little bit, we will of course cover future and rights immortal seasons there as well.
01:34 --> 01:36 [UNKNOWN]: And you can also find in that feed,
01:38 --> 02:02 [UNKNOWN]: Interview the vampire seasons one and two one shot the telemask of one shot patreon and super cast subscribers Also have access to a May fair which is season two episode But if you're a huge fan of the show you might want to skip that one And we will of course in this feed in the harhouse feed be covering other horror titles in the meantime Do see our past coverage of shows like what does Bay it?
02:02 --> 02:02 [UNKNOWN]: Welcome to dairy
02:03 --> 02:07 [UNKNOWN]: 28 years later, which is a movie, not a show, back rooms, things like that.
02:08 --> 02:23 [UNKNOWN]: The Laura Hound's main feed has all of that stuff, and everything else, including current weekly house of the dragon coverage with David and Joel, and upcoming movie coverage, like Supergirl and John, not Joel, not to be confused with Joel.
02:24 --> 02:27 [UNKNOWN]: John, you're doing the Odyssey soon, I believe?
02:27 --> 02:28 [UNKNOWN]: Allegedly.
02:28 --> 02:30 [UNKNOWN]: Imagine making it to the movie, then, yeah.
02:32 --> 02:33 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, now yeah we'll do it.
02:33 --> 02:34 [UNKNOWN]: We'll do it.
02:34 --> 02:34 [UNKNOWN]: We're gonna have fun
02:36 --> 02:47 [UNKNOWN]: But today, for now, for this conversation, we are assuming that you were all caught up on the Vampire Listat and the interview with the Vampire before that.
02:47 --> 02:58 [UNKNOWN]: We've reserved the right to bring up the to bring up Talamaska or May Fair Witches or anything in the TV part of this universe we like or any book related stuff that's already aired.
02:59 --> 03:02 [UNKNOWN]: There won't be an inside the coffin book spoiler section this episode.
03:02 --> 03:03 [UNKNOWN]: You're book spoiler safe.
03:04 --> 03:15 [UNKNOWN]: We are picking up on this just after the Hall H panel for the Vampire Listat took place at Common Khan on Friday, July 24th.
03:16 --> 03:20 [UNKNOWN]: It took place 12.30 to 115 p.m. Pacific Time and
03:22 --> 03:28 [UNKNOWN]: I think I don't know if you guys have even heard this yet because we are literally recording this right after that, although you'll be receiving it later.
03:29 --> 03:32 [UNKNOWN]: There was really only one announcement in the end.
03:32 --> 03:33 [UNKNOWN]: It's the one that we expected.
03:33 --> 03:34 [UNKNOWN]: So yay for that.
03:35 --> 03:36 [UNKNOWN]: Season 4 is a go.
03:36 --> 03:38 [UNKNOWN]: It will be called Queen of the Damned.
03:38 --> 03:41 [UNKNOWN]: There's a teaser out now that you can check out.
03:42 --> 03:57 [UNKNOWN]: The main change is that Roland Jones, who's been the showrunner for the past three seasons, he's stepping back to executive producer role, swapping places for this with Hannah Moskovich, who has been the executive producer all this time.
03:57 --> 04:02 [UNKNOWN]: And I actually, I already had a note in here that we needed to talk about her more.
04:02 --> 04:04 [UNKNOWN]: We don't talk about her enough because
04:05 --> 04:12 [UNKNOWN]: She is the other main creative partner with Roland Jones and I think they really balance each other.
04:12 --> 04:19 [UNKNOWN]: I think that a lot of the wild swings come from him and a lot of the earnestness comes from her is my impression.
04:19 --> 04:24 [UNKNOWN]: I definitely recommend an autumn brown interview.
04:24 --> 04:34 [UNKNOWN]: that with her, it's just to wrap up the season and to get a good idea of, you know, her influence on the show and how much she really cares about this.
04:34 --> 04:46 [UNKNOWN]: So I'm excited about that, but I was wondering why wasn't Roland Jones at the panel and a better not be because stupid people on Twitter are making death threats.
04:46 --> 04:48 [UNKNOWN]: What is there to be death the about other than the vampirism?
04:49 --> 04:49 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
04:49 --> 04:51 [UNKNOWN]: I only went on Twitter for the panel news.
04:52 --> 04:55 [UNKNOWN]: I like, like, I don't really want to wait into those waters.
04:56 --> 05:01 [UNKNOWN]: People are just taking, I don't even care what they're complaining about.
05:01 --> 05:03 [UNKNOWN]: It's become more door hats in it.
05:03 --> 05:03 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
05:03 --> 05:04 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
05:04 --> 05:04 [UNKNOWN]: Uh-huh.
05:04 --> 05:05 [UNKNOWN]: Uh-huh.
05:05 --> 05:08 [UNKNOWN]: Again, with the lack of rolled out, come on, John.
05:08 --> 05:09 [UNKNOWN]: More doors.
05:09 --> 05:10 [UNKNOWN]: More doors.
05:10 --> 05:11 [UNKNOWN]: So, thank you.
05:11 --> 05:11 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
05:11 --> 05:12 [UNKNOWN]: We're talking about the
05:17 --> 05:19 [UNKNOWN]: I have the answer
05:22 --> 05:27 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, look, like the question for me is of perspective, right?
05:27 --> 05:33 [UNKNOWN]: That is the massive tonal change that made season three, really tick, right?
05:33 --> 05:37 [UNKNOWN]: And it's interesting, my life is finally agreed to watch this show.
05:37 --> 05:41 [UNKNOWN]: So we're like a few episodes into season one at this point.
05:41 --> 05:48 [UNKNOWN]: And it's interesting the seeds of that tonal shift and the perspective shift that leads to that tonal shift.
05:49 --> 05:54 [UNKNOWN]: It's like maybe episode four in the first season when it's Claudia's diary, and that episode is so different.
05:55 --> 05:56 [UNKNOWN]: And I've forgotten how different it is.
05:56 --> 06:01 [UNKNOWN]: So this, these show runners like taking a new perspective.
06:02 --> 06:04 [UNKNOWN]: in the direction of also the tonal shift.
06:04 --> 06:10 [UNKNOWN]: And so my question is, that teaser almost suggests that this is her show and not less that show.
06:10 --> 06:13 [UNKNOWN]: Is this going to be season two of the vampire less dead?
06:14 --> 06:15 [UNKNOWN]: Or are we following a caution?
06:15 --> 06:17 [UNKNOWN]: Because that is a super different show.
06:17 --> 06:19 [UNKNOWN]: Well, and it'll be a lot.
06:19 --> 06:20 [UNKNOWN]: It's going to be a lot.
06:20 --> 06:20 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
06:21 --> 06:28 [UNKNOWN]: No, so the Queen of the Damned Book, and I assume there's been some oblique references to this, so I do think they intend to do something similar.
06:28 --> 06:32 [UNKNOWN]: The Queen of the Damned Book is from a bunch of different perspectives.
06:32 --> 06:44 [UNKNOWN]: It's sort of more like the Game of Thrones book where you're, this is also where we get the origin story of the Devil's Minion romance, where we get the origin story of Baby Janks, who we met this season.
06:45 --> 06:46 [UNKNOWN]: So they've been moved
06:50 --> 06:53 [UNKNOWN]: to a bunch of different perspectives, like the book.
06:53 --> 06:53 [UNKNOWN]: Interesting.
06:55 --> 06:58 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so it will be more a third person omniscient.
06:58 --> 07:00 [UNKNOWN]: It sounds like...
07:00 --> 07:00 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
07:01 --> 07:09 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I think they'll do more, I think they will do more different perspectives, so not third person omniscient as much as diving into a bunch of different people's perspectives.
07:09 --> 07:09 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
07:09 --> 07:10 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
07:11 --> 07:14 [UNKNOWN]: There is a book change, like a transition when you go from
07:15 --> 07:23 [UNKNOWN]: not Louise perspective, but the perspective, I guess, of Daniel in the first book, interviewing Louis II, less that being the central figure.
07:24 --> 07:35 [UNKNOWN]: But that doesn't happen quite as distinctly in there's jumps around to different, you know, there's, I don't, I don't think I'm supposed to name any of the names of the other people that it's going to jump to in the third book, but it's still
07:36 --> 07:40 [UNKNOWN]: Queen of the damned is like a very direct sequel to Vampire Lestat in a way that.
07:40 --> 07:40 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
07:41 --> 07:42 [UNKNOWN]: And story wise, it will be.
07:42 --> 07:43 [UNKNOWN]: There will be the constant.
07:43 --> 07:43 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
07:44 --> 07:49 [UNKNOWN]: It's just if they take that, you know, the title change even if they take that as a.
07:51 --> 07:51 [UNKNOWN]: swap.
07:51 --> 08:01 [UNKNOWN]: That'll be really interesting because, you know, they settle into a groove and, you know, turn it up, like, by me and I guess overturn it is what I mean.
08:02 --> 08:03 [UNKNOWN]: It's just an interesting choice.
08:03 --> 08:05 [UNKNOWN]: And new showrunner, maybe it's the time to do it.
08:05 --> 08:10 [UNKNOWN]: I'm here for it, but it's also a bit sad, because I like the glamorock musical that it was this season.
08:10 --> 08:25 [UNKNOWN]: Why know that they, there are already songs that were, are lined up for this season already apparently, Roland Jones is favorite, was this season, although Daniel Hart, the composer seems to not necessarily agree.
08:26 --> 08:28 [UNKNOWN]: But anyway, there will be more music for sure.
08:28 --> 08:32 [UNKNOWN]: And we know that there's gonna be the concerts that's where that one song was supposed to play.
08:33 --> 08:37 [UNKNOWN]: So I don't know, I think it's the structure of the Queen of the Damned Book
08:41 --> 08:53 [UNKNOWN]: And because, at this point, you know, they don't necessarily know, I was hoping that we were going to get two seasons announced at once, and that didn't happen.
08:53 --> 09:01 [UNKNOWN]: So, you know, it's just a reminder that, um, they know they have to, what does it make hey, while the sun shining?
09:02 --> 09:07 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and this gives them the ability to touch on a bunch more stories at the same time.
09:10 --> 09:21 [UNKNOWN]: But I did have lots of thoughts in our wrap up and our inside the coffin section for anyone who wants to know what I think they might do with the books after that.
09:21 --> 09:26 [UNKNOWN]: Like, tell the body thief and beyond where I think I just confused John more than explain anything.
09:26 --> 09:28 [UNKNOWN]: But I have no idea what's going on.
09:28 --> 09:29 [UNKNOWN]: So it's fine.
09:29 --> 09:36 [UNKNOWN]: See, this is the thing, like, there's a spoiler section and we give a big spoiler warning, but I don't know if anybody would understand even if they got to it.
09:36 --> 09:38 [UNKNOWN]: I feel like you have to read through it or watch it.
09:39 --> 09:48 [UNKNOWN]: I was assured on blue sky that if I didn't sound like a crazy person explaining an rice plot, then I must be doing it wrong.
09:48 --> 09:50 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, no, that's definitely right.
09:50 --> 09:51 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's definitely right.
09:51 --> 09:55 [UNKNOWN]: This might be the only sort of fiction series where I have.
09:56 --> 10:03 [UNKNOWN]: I am both a book reader and someone who aborted and then let myself get completely spoiled because I went through book six.
10:04 --> 10:07 [UNKNOWN]: But just enough, and I guess we could talk about it when we talk about our moms, specifically.
10:07 --> 10:10 [UNKNOWN]: But like, I kind of was out at that point.
10:10 --> 10:15 [UNKNOWN]: But then, since then, I have followed recaps and I know all the crazy stuff and
10:16 --> 10:31 [UNKNOWN]: I don't want to yuck anybody's young, but like I feel a little vindicated that I didn't keep reading, but it is wild to know as much as I do know and still be like, wait, what when I'm hearing some of the later books.
10:31 --> 10:37 [UNKNOWN]: So if you think the tale of body thief recap is a little confusing, I think it gets a lot crazier than that.
10:37 --> 10:40 [UNKNOWN]: I did also try to explain the
10:44 --> 11:04 [UNKNOWN]: And I am like unabashedly like I think why should the series not have gone weird and I keep saying that I think this series has the opportunity to already draw on these later weirder elements because these are it's all part of the same law of world.
11:05 --> 11:12 [UNKNOWN]: So it shouldn't just be you know and Rice wrote the way she wrote because she was writing one book at a time but they have
11:12 --> 11:15 [UNKNOWN]: the opportunity to tell the entire story together.
11:15 --> 11:19 [UNKNOWN]: So I am all for them going late book weird.
11:19 --> 11:20 [UNKNOWN]: I'm glad you're all for it.
11:21 --> 11:24 [UNKNOWN]: I think it's a it's a it's a testament to how
11:25 --> 11:53 [UNKNOWN]: weird and almost that spoiler is almost maybe don't matter because it's so weird that you will say that word and not worry that you're spoiling anything for anybody because you can say the word alien and everybody can listen to be like ah whatever like I still don't understand what that means it doesn't explain anything but you should be it should be a massive spoiler to say that but it's almost not because it's so out of your realm of even conception for what we know of this show
11:53 --> 11:54 [UNKNOWN]: But that's it.
11:54 --> 11:55 [UNKNOWN]: It's get so specific.
11:55 --> 12:00 [UNKNOWN]: And I respect that a lot, you know, so I think, okay, I'm going to talk about it now.
12:01 --> 12:01 [UNKNOWN]: I love the show.
12:01 --> 12:04 [UNKNOWN]: I think the season of show, the season of the show.
12:04 --> 12:08 [UNKNOWN]: We can actually say real quick before we transition into fish.
12:08 --> 12:10 [UNKNOWN]: I just want to say that there is a concert video.
12:11 --> 12:13 [UNKNOWN]: We already knew this coming to AMC in a few days.
12:13 --> 12:18 [UNKNOWN]: I think I'm like the 28 so watch out for that if you want to see that beacon concert that they did right before the launch.
12:19 --> 12:25 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and also that's we are recording this at least a couple days before it will be released.
12:25 --> 12:31 [UNKNOWN]: So if any additional news comes out in that time like why Roland Jones was on at the panel, then I will talk about it in the outro.
12:31 --> 12:32 [UNKNOWN]: Sorry, go ahead Mark.
12:32 --> 12:33 [UNKNOWN]: Where do your thoughts?
12:33 --> 12:35 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I was just a sort of on the Amrise topic.
12:35 --> 12:36 [UNKNOWN]: I love the show.
12:36 --> 12:41 [UNKNOWN]: I don't want anybody to think that I'm like hating on it or hating on the world she built.
12:41 --> 12:44 [UNKNOWN]: But there is something about and this was,
12:45 --> 12:54 [UNKNOWN]: I think I don't remember which book it was that had just come out when I was reading these books, which is probably like the odds, maybe the late odds or something like that.
12:56 --> 13:09 [UNKNOWN]: And Rice kept kind of changing her mind, it seemed like at one point she was disappointed in almost it seemed like renouncing the vampires a little bit because she had become very devoutly religious and then she came to terms with it and it almost felt to me.
13:11 --> 13:14 [UNKNOWN]: As I was deciding, yeah, I think I'm done on after book six.
13:14 --> 13:18 [UNKNOWN]: It almost felt to me that she was just on to her new interest.
13:18 --> 13:22 [UNKNOWN]: And so the extra layers like, oh, there's this religious aspect.
13:22 --> 13:23 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, now there's aliens.
13:23 --> 13:26 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, next there's a bra and a Sora sin book seven or whatever probably happens.
13:26 --> 13:26 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
13:26 --> 13:30 [UNKNOWN]: It's because she got really into dinosaurs having watched the latest Jurassic Park.
13:30 --> 13:34 [UNKNOWN]: So there's something about it that if these showowners can hold it to.
13:34 --> 13:36 [UNKNOWN]: Well, that's not a real thing for anyone who's wondering.
13:36 --> 13:38 [UNKNOWN]: It's not really because.
13:38 --> 13:39 [UNKNOWN]: because that would be crazy.
13:39 --> 13:41 [UNKNOWN]: That one would be too crazy, right?
13:41 --> 13:42 [UNKNOWN]: Even though they're in our flashbacks.
13:44 --> 14:10 [UNKNOWN]: It feels like the if the show runners could the reason I'm mentioning this if they can somehow make it cohesive Because I kind of don't think it is like look I stopped at book six I already was feeling like I don't know how much this all fits together if they can pull it off and I almost think they can It will be like a crowning achievement although I'm not sure how many shows can go like eight nine seasons and keep the quality up, but if they if anybody can do it, maybe they can do it.
14:11 --> 14:24 [UNKNOWN]: Well, since we have you here, we last heard from you mostly talking about one of the songs on our episode three recording, but now this season has finished what were your thoughts overall.
14:25 --> 14:29 [UNKNOWN]: It's a great show, I really enjoyed it.
14:29 --> 14:36 [UNKNOWN]: I kind of thought we'd get the concert at the end, but I think the singer at the end with the waistline he's looking over was really wonderful.
14:36 --> 14:40 [UNKNOWN]: I thought that last episode was really emotionally powerful.
14:40 --> 14:46 [UNKNOWN]: Had the last few episodes, I feel like put the music and the musicality of the show to a really good use.
14:46 --> 14:51 [UNKNOWN]: I think throughout the whole season, honestly, I feel like
14:52 --> 14:58 [UNKNOWN]: the vampire arm on lovers are out of their mind with the with the characterization they're giving in this show.
14:59 --> 15:01 [UNKNOWN]: I'm definitely on the john side of reading personal.
15:02 --> 15:03 [UNKNOWN]: against one.
15:03 --> 15:05 [UNKNOWN]: It's it's I think you're over.
15:06 --> 15:07 [UNKNOWN]: You're outnumbered.
15:07 --> 15:08 [UNKNOWN]: I think though.
15:10 --> 15:11 [UNKNOWN]: not to gain that too much.
15:11 --> 15:17 [UNKNOWN]: I will say, John, you are correct that Sam Reed is a very attractive man, but sometimes I feel like I need a shower after listening to your coverage.
15:17 --> 15:19 [UNKNOWN]: So, uh, there.
15:19 --> 15:23 [UNKNOWN]: Um, you know, Mark, you want to accuse me of being a prude.
15:23 --> 15:26 [UNKNOWN]: I know, you're coming back, uh, hard on that.
15:26 --> 15:27 [UNKNOWN]: No one.
15:27 --> 15:31 [UNKNOWN]: No one will ever, ever dare accuse me again.
15:31 --> 15:31 [UNKNOWN]: No,
15:35 --> 15:52 [UNKNOWN]: It's honestly it felt like on the top of government and I'm sure we'll talk about them in some of our like season highlights and stuff, but it felt almost a little bit like character assassination this last episode now there's the amazing kind of cathartic moment between him and Louis when Louis.
15:53 --> 16:00 [UNKNOWN]: when Louie's head finally like shows some much needed empathy, but also God our mind is just so wicked.
16:00 --> 16:02 [UNKNOWN]: And they really led him be that way.
16:02 --> 16:06 [UNKNOWN]: In this episode, and I almost don't remember, I've read through the book the vampire I'm on.
16:06 --> 16:09 [UNKNOWN]: And I don't remember him being that, um,
16:11 --> 16:17 [UNKNOWN]: Well, it's because I mean, he's they're setting him up a certain way like sure.
16:17 --> 16:23 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, they're certainly setting him up as a villain and only giving glimpses of like the people who are among defenders.
16:24 --> 16:26 [UNKNOWN]: You'll notice are by and large book readers.
16:26 --> 16:27 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
16:27 --> 16:28 [UNKNOWN]: But it is also.
16:29 --> 16:46 [UNKNOWN]: You know, I was arguing the entire podcast that he didn't want to kill Louie like he just he has very bad coping mechanism for the very very bad yeah he can't get better and and I know book book readers maybe are more likely to like our mind.
16:46 --> 16:48 [UNKNOWN]: I think possibly though.
16:49 --> 16:59 [UNKNOWN]: And the same way that it maybe seems that house of the dragon, the creators of that show maybe put their thumb on the scale as to which side you're supposed to root for, even though it's sort of, you know, everybody's bad.
17:00 --> 17:03 [UNKNOWN]: It feels a little bit like the showrunners might be putting their thumb on the scale.
17:04 --> 17:28 [UNKNOWN]: more negatively towards our morn and part of me wonders like honestly part of the reason that I noped out after the vampire morn and i won't spoil anything like i'm super stoked for the men knocked the devil uh spin off or whatever because for me i eat up the world but like i love book three because of the crazy we're gonna go way back and get everybody's backstory and not i you've talked enough about that i don't consider that a spoiler and um
17:29 --> 17:37 [UNKNOWN]: I liked memnock the devil because of the crazy like Dante's infernal, let's walk and learn about cosmology, one long conversation for an entire book, basically.
17:38 --> 17:55 [UNKNOWN]: But Vampire Armand, as much as it does give you empathy, and we learned a lot about the kinds of things that maybe happened in his backstory that should give us a lot of empathy for Armand, it's also the way that it is put forward is just tough, it's tough read.
17:56 --> 18:16 [UNKNOWN]: and it's one of those things that reading the book and I don't want to put any words in anybody's mouth and I'm not an expert on this stuff but there's sometimes I'm reading some of the stuff frankly like some of the consent problem sex stuff with Anne Rice where I can't tell if I'm supposed to be grossed out or if she actually thinks I'm supposed to think it's hot and sexy and that for me was just to read a book that had so much like
18:17 --> 18:28 [UNKNOWN]: This 12-year-old boy has been, uh, um, button-sold and this vampire is grooming him and stuff and and like, I'm reading it going, I think Anne Rice thinks this is sexy and it's just like hurts to read kind of.
18:28 --> 18:31 [UNKNOWN]: And so it, it, it's not just the like wild plot stuff.
18:31 --> 18:40 [UNKNOWN]: So like, I understand people who love our mom because you feel for him, but like, it also is part of what kicks me out of the series.
18:40 --> 18:41 [UNKNOWN]: And he's a chaos scrambling.
18:42 --> 18:43 [UNKNOWN]: Sure, yeah.
18:43 --> 18:49 [UNKNOWN]: And I think that's more like I kind of like him in this episode more than I like him in that.
18:49 --> 18:50 [UNKNOWN]: Like something about, I don't know.
18:51 --> 18:59 [UNKNOWN]: I don't want to feel like I really enjoy a lot of this universe, and I don't want people to think I'm like an Anrise Hater, but there's something it felt so uncomfortable to read some of this stuff.
18:59 --> 19:00 [UNKNOWN]: And so I just had to stop.
19:01 --> 19:01 [UNKNOWN]: Sure, no, that's fair.
19:02 --> 19:05 [UNKNOWN]: And they're obviously being much more considered with that in the show.
19:06 --> 19:13 [UNKNOWN]: But as far as like the tipping the scale in our mind, like I'll say, you know, Jean was just watching the first two seasons of this.
19:13 --> 19:16 [UNKNOWN]: And at the end of the first season, he's like, oh, I hate this stat.
19:16 --> 19:17 [UNKNOWN]: He's, you know, awful.
19:18 --> 19:21 [UNKNOWN]: And then I remember like everyone hates a list at the end of season one.
19:21 --> 19:26 [UNKNOWN]: And then, um, and obviously, I think people feel a lot differently after this season.
19:26 --> 19:26 [UNKNOWN]: And that is
19:31 --> 19:32 [UNKNOWN]: You'll never give me a hit or stop.
19:34 --> 19:42 [UNKNOWN]: But I think that's why I think already next season will probably start to get more things from our mom's perspective as well.
19:42 --> 19:44 [UNKNOWN]: And his redemption arc will start.
19:44 --> 19:48 [UNKNOWN]: I think we'll get a redemption arc for Gabriela, who I think was painted a lot worse in the season.
19:48 --> 19:54 [UNKNOWN]: And then she is in the book, even though maybe because of the gross sex stuff, they should call it out.
19:54 --> 20:02 [UNKNOWN]: Like I don't care if your vampires that's still not OK. And yes, I know they do not have penetrative sex in the books,
20:04 --> 20:05 [UNKNOWN]: you don't make out with your son.
20:05 --> 20:10 [UNKNOWN]: You don't tell him your sexy stories about wanting to fuck men when you're tending his wounds.
20:12 --> 20:17 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so I think this having different perspectives in the next season will be good for that.
20:18 --> 20:19 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, we'll see.
20:19 --> 20:21 [UNKNOWN]: It's possible, though, that they will
20:23 --> 20:28 [UNKNOWN]: continue to put their thumb on the scale and no, they may be a villain, you know, they won't.
20:28 --> 20:29 [UNKNOWN]: They will not, they are ready.
20:30 --> 20:36 [UNKNOWN]: I am 100% certain week for first of all, because it's how the books go.
20:36 --> 20:45 [UNKNOWN]: Second of all, because it's something like Hannah Moskovitz, who's taking over a showrunner, you know, I was recommending that Autumn Brown interview, which I'll link in the show notes.
20:45 --> 20:50 [UNKNOWN]: But she was just flat out saying there, like, I love all of these characters.
20:50 --> 20:52 [UNKNOWN]: And by the end of this show, you should love them all too.
20:53 --> 21:15 [UNKNOWN]: And she means including Armand and Gabriela, and that would just be doing a huge service that is not on par with everything else we've seen if they just and and the fact that we saw like that that moment of breakthrough between Louie and Armand tells us that they of course they see this character as as a full person a full vampire.
21:15 --> 21:41 [UNKNOWN]: You gotta hand it to these vampires like they take hundreds of years, but they eventually forgive each other and like learn to live with it like there's a lot of like former enemies are now your friends in this series you know and it's some of them we've seen already and some of them you were your foreshadowing here you know so yeah it's a good about radical forgiveness also this series so um very hope punk anyway yeah you have any thoughts about the
21:48 --> 21:56 [UNKNOWN]: Our mind is not a cartoonist villain, though he does some cartoonish villainous things.
21:56 --> 22:06 [UNKNOWN]: One thing that the show does is it humanizes these essentially monsters that everybody in the show is a monster, right?
22:06 --> 22:07 [UNKNOWN]: All the characters we care about.
22:08 --> 22:12 [UNKNOWN]: except I guess Louie, because he doesn't, he's a vegetarian now.
22:12 --> 22:14 [UNKNOWN]: He only drinks, I'm blood, it seems like or drinks from him.
22:14 --> 22:16 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know, he did some messed up things this season.
22:16 --> 22:21 [UNKNOWN]: He did do some messed up things this season, but at least it was like to other monsters, if you would.
22:21 --> 22:24 [UNKNOWN]: That's how vegetarians work in real life, right?
22:24 --> 22:27 [UNKNOWN]: Like it means you just can't eat people, but you can eat other animals.
22:27 --> 22:28 [UNKNOWN]: That's right, vegetarianists, okay, yeah.
22:28 --> 22:34 [UNKNOWN]: Honestly, I'm a vegetarian, and I would rather he, he, bad people than animals, but yeah.
22:36 --> 22:39 [UNKNOWN]: since that's what the humongous cat in our arms right now.
22:39 --> 22:44 [UNKNOWN]: Well anyway, my point is, my point is, let's start our mind.
22:44 --> 22:45 [UNKNOWN]: They are all serial killers, right?
22:45 --> 22:47 [UNKNOWN]: Like it's just, yeah.
22:47 --> 22:50 [UNKNOWN]: So we're all speaking in moral brellitudes here.
22:51 --> 22:51 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
22:52 --> 22:55 [UNKNOWN]: The reason that I hate our minds so much is that he hurts my good boys.
22:55 --> 22:58 [UNKNOWN]: He hurts the people that I care about in the show.
22:58 --> 23:03 [UNKNOWN]: And I think you're right, Alicia part of it is I haven't really had his perspective.
23:06 --> 23:24 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I think what makes him feel worse than the others is that all of his bad actions seem to stem from a place of cowardice, and so it feels, it makes him feel smaller than the other people, where it's like, let's start a selfish, so is Louis, let's start has an ego.
23:25 --> 23:31 [UNKNOWN]: Louis is self-absorbed, like these are not, these are qualities that can be toxic and clearly
23:34 --> 23:54 [UNKNOWN]: We as a society tend to like judge cowardice a little more and I think our mom shows a lot of of cowardice and that's why, you know, the way he doesn't tell the truth about, you know, Claudia is seen as such a such a devastating twist and that's why, you know, the way that he
23:55 --> 24:03 [UNKNOWN]: sneaks up on list out at Louie slices them up and then puts Louie on a peg make some defenseless to force him to apologize to him.
24:03 --> 24:06 [UNKNOWN]: It just feels more pathetic than anybody else in the show.
24:06 --> 24:10 [UNKNOWN]: And I think that that's why people are so unsympathetic to him.
24:11 --> 24:12 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
24:12 --> 24:15 [UNKNOWN]: I think that's my, that's my running theory.
24:16 --> 24:18 [UNKNOWN]: What did he called himself like a barnacle?
24:18 --> 24:22 [UNKNOWN]: Who he's like, did I love you or was I like a barnacle clinging to whatever, you know.
24:23 --> 24:28 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I think the first thing is confronting what's wrong with yourself.
24:28 --> 24:33 [UNKNOWN]: And I think that, yeah, I mean, we'll obviously, we'll talk more, we'll get into the villains of the season.
24:33 --> 24:41 [UNKNOWN]: But I think that they are presenting certain characters at their worst, like they did with the start in the first season.
24:42 --> 24:49 [UNKNOWN]: so that we later have to come around and confront our prejudices based on people doing awful things.
24:49 --> 24:50 [UNKNOWN]: I'll never confront it.
24:51 --> 24:51 [UNKNOWN]: That's a big learn.
24:52 --> 24:55 [UNKNOWN]: My goal is to show no growth through office podcasts.
24:58 --> 25:08 [UNKNOWN]: Show me check in with Corey the headmod on the interview vampire subreddit with his final thoughts on the season and I'll warn there moderately critical.
25:09 --> 25:09 [UNKNOWN]: Here we go.
25:11 --> 25:17 [UNKNOWN]: So the vampire list set, season one, it's done.
25:18 --> 25:29 [UNKNOWN]: I continue to mull over the season as a whole, since the season finale, which I now watch three times in a row.
25:29 --> 25:33 [UNKNOWN]: And the question I think that just keeps coming back to me is,
25:39 --> 25:48 [UNKNOWN]: to have known ahead of time that this season finale wasn't really going to be a season finale.
25:49 --> 25:54 [UNKNOWN]: And by that, I mean, this was very clearly in the old parlance in the old TV days.
25:55 --> 25:57 [UNKNOWN]: This would be a mid season finale.
25:58 --> 26:03 [UNKNOWN]: It would be the mid, the finale right before the season broke for holidays.
26:06 --> 26:28 [UNKNOWN]: Or something similar like that, you'd have some very, you know, either very high stakes or the characters would be down in the dumps and no one would sure how they were going to really recover so that, you know, when the rest of the season came along, you know, a couple months later, you would have a reason to be invested in in the, you know, the back half of season and to me.
26:29 --> 26:31 [UNKNOWN]: That's what this feels like.
26:31 --> 26:33 [UNKNOWN]: This doesn't feel like a season finale.
26:33 --> 26:35 [UNKNOWN]: This feels like a mid-season finale.
26:36 --> 26:44 [UNKNOWN]: And the question I just keep asking myself is, would I have preferred to have known ahead of time that that's what this is going to be?
26:45 --> 26:55 [UNKNOWN]: Because I can't help but feel a little bit disappointed in the finale.
26:56 --> 26:56 [UNKNOWN]: By that I mean,
26:58 --> 27:00 [UNKNOWN]: There was no crescendo.
27:01 --> 27:05 [UNKNOWN]: There was no big payoff to everything that had happened so far in the season.
27:06 --> 27:16 [UNKNOWN]: And, you know, it was a, you know, a narrative through line of Listsat's character and his personal journey in growth.
27:17 --> 27:22 [UNKNOWN]: And we do see that, you know, it appears that he's going to
27:28 --> 27:33 [UNKNOWN]: It just didn't feel like a season finale.
27:34 --> 27:39 [UNKNOWN]: And does that bother me enough that it brings down my overall opinion of the season?
27:41 --> 27:42 [UNKNOWN]: I think it does.
27:44 --> 27:51 [UNKNOWN]: And I know Zach Relage for saying that, a lot of people are gonna be happy with me saying that, but I do think it does.
27:51 --> 27:57 [UNKNOWN]: I think it makes the whole season feel incomplete.
27:58 --> 28:05 [UNKNOWN]: because it makes this season, quote unquote, feel like half of a hole.
28:07 --> 28:19 [UNKNOWN]: And now I feel like I'm not going to be able to feel a sense of completeness, I'm not going to be able to feel like the story itself has come to a completed ending until I see that other half.
28:19 --> 28:27 [UNKNOWN]: And I, the disappointment I have as a result of that, I think could have been mitigated if I had known
28:28 --> 28:29 [UNKNOWN]: ahead of time.
28:30 --> 28:36 [UNKNOWN]: Like if they had announced, hey, this is only one half of this season, like one half of the story we're looking to tell.
28:38 --> 28:46 [UNKNOWN]: So that's, I think my overall all of the season is I think that there were fantastic moments in the season.
28:46 --> 28:52 [UNKNOWN]: I think that, you know, lists that's journey essentially breaking.
28:53 --> 28:58 [UNKNOWN]: getting to the core of himself and then you know being judged by his failures at the end of season.
28:58 --> 29:01 [UNKNOWN]: I think it was all really really good.
29:01 --> 29:02 [UNKNOWN]: I think it was incredibly well written.
29:03 --> 29:10 [UNKNOWN]: I think it was incredibly well acted, directed, the music was phenomenal, staying glass eyes.
29:10 --> 29:12 [UNKNOWN]: I have listened to on repeat.
29:13 --> 29:16 [UNKNOWN]: It's definitely my personal favorite song of the season.
29:21 --> 29:24 [UNKNOWN]: When I come back to that question of did I enjoy the season overall?
29:24 --> 29:28 [UNKNOWN]: I have to factor in the fact that this doesn't really feel like a complete story.
29:29 --> 29:33 [UNKNOWN]: And it does bring down my overall opinion of the season.
29:35 --> 29:38 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, I have a lot of thoughts on that, but what do you guys think?
29:39 --> 29:56 [UNKNOWN]: You know, um, I have a lot of sympathy for this perspective because I had a very similar feeling at the end of House of the Dragon Season 2, which is why I'm not on that podcast for Season 3 because I was so bummed after that.
29:57 --> 30:01 [UNKNOWN]: And I feel differently about this season.
30:02 --> 30:08 [UNKNOWN]: because it of the way it fits into my cliffhanger test.
30:08 --> 30:12 [UNKNOWN]: I know David loves his tests, but Corey, you're new to this community, I know.
30:12 --> 30:15 [UNKNOWN]: So I'm gonna fill you in on how I look at cliffhangers.
30:16 --> 30:25 [UNKNOWN]: And I believe I told this from a podcast with Brandon, Sanders, and on it, but essentially he divided cliffhangers into actual cliffhangers and game changers.
30:26 --> 30:42 [UNKNOWN]: For me, first of all, the cliffhanger in-house of the dragon, and that is, you know, my old spoilers, but there was going to be a battle, a big battle at the end of season two of House of the Dragon, and everything seemed to be pointing to this in the last couple episodes, and then it just didn't happen.
30:43 --> 30:49 [UNKNOWN]: And I think what really bothered me about that is that it was very unclear what the outcome of that battle would be.
30:50 --> 30:54 [UNKNOWN]: It was very unclear about what would happen.
30:54 --> 30:59 [UNKNOWN]: And the point is, the person was actually hanging off the cliff there, right?
30:59 --> 31:00 [UNKNOWN]: Because something was going to happen.
31:00 --> 31:03 [UNKNOWN]: And we didn't know if it was going to be a positive or negative outcome.
31:04 --> 31:07 [UNKNOWN]: Here, we've seen the destruction, right?
31:07 --> 31:08 [UNKNOWN]: Like, we know what's going to happen.
31:08 --> 31:10 [UNKNOWN]: We know there's going to be a concert.
31:10 --> 31:20 [UNKNOWN]: And we know that there's going to be, in say and level of destruction afterwards, all we don't know is how it's going to happen and how it's going to affect the characters we care about.
31:20 --> 31:23 [UNKNOWN]: And that isn't okay Cliff Hanger for me because that's a game changer, right?
31:24 --> 31:35 [UNKNOWN]: The game will be changed in that the world will have some level of destruction and these characters, you know, whatever power dynamic exists between vampires and humans right now is not going to be the same after this.
31:35 --> 31:39 [UNKNOWN]: So that's why I think it's a cool game changer and not a cliffhanger in the traditional sense.
31:40 --> 31:44 [UNKNOWN]: The other thing too is just, I am sucked into the show because of the characters.
31:45 --> 32:01 [UNKNOWN]: The plot is there and that's great and I think I am just a character focused watcher and reader when I consume media and so I enjoyed this season more than I enjoyed the first two seasons because this show was all, this season was all a character dissection.
32:02 --> 32:06 [UNKNOWN]: The reason they named it the Vampire Lestat was because this was about Lestat's emotional journey and that
32:07 --> 32:12 [UNKNOWN]: table where they dissect his soul and where he finally finds himself on a stage.
32:13 --> 32:24 [UNKNOWN]: That to me is that climax and we did reach that and we succeeded and I was exhilarated at the end and maybe it's just again different expectations.
32:25 --> 32:31 [UNKNOWN]: I was not sure if there were a new the concert at the end but I by the time I got there I didn't care if they were going to do it because they had succeeded
32:33 --> 32:33 [UNKNOWN]: So that's where I'm at really.
32:34 --> 32:38 [UNKNOWN]: So I definitely respect your opinion because I was very similar to you on House of the Dragon.
32:38 --> 32:43 [UNKNOWN]: I see how this show can make you feel that way and totally valid opinion.
32:43 --> 32:48 [UNKNOWN]: I just for me This is the way I'm thinking about it and it's making me enjoy it a lot more.
32:49 --> 33:07 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, no, I think for me, it's also, it was a matter of expectations that didn't feel disappointed because, I mean, I've been saying all season that I kind of, because the book is really, you know, you're just saying Mark that the Queen of the Damt is like very much a continuation of this story.
33:08 --> 33:17 [UNKNOWN]: So I was expecting some sort of cliffhanger and actually by pulling back and not having the concert in a way, it's almost less of a cliffhanger.
33:18 --> 33:33 [UNKNOWN]: then I mean I don't want to it's kind of obvious what goes down at the concert they've certainly tease that enough but I don't want to be spoiler anyway but then yeah you're sort of left in this this carnage and escape and then you know you kind of need to pick up the next book
33:34 --> 33:35 [UNKNOWN]: immediately.
33:35 --> 33:40 [UNKNOWN]: So we got the teases of that without that, I suppose that final action scene.
33:42 --> 33:46 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, so I expected it for that, and also just the auction scene intro.
33:47 --> 33:53 [UNKNOWN]: As soon as they said the things that they said at the auction, it's like, oh, well, this is set after season four.
33:54 --> 33:59 [UNKNOWN]: This feels like a season five thing to be honest for various other reasons we've discussed too.
34:01 --> 34:10 [UNKNOWN]: Also set my expectations, I think, that not only do we need season 4, we need season 5 as well to really bring this story together.
34:10 --> 34:20 [UNKNOWN]: And yeah, and of course, the budgetary things, as I talked about before, I think that that influence the decision not to have the concert in the final episode.
34:21 --> 34:32 [UNKNOWN]: But I understand that the other thing that people are feeling disappointed about is that Lestot's past is the biggest focus of the vampire Lestot book.
34:33 --> 34:42 [UNKNOWN]: And here we got all of the outlines for it, but not filled in and nearly as much detail, which of course you expect with an adaptation in general.
34:43 --> 34:44 [UNKNOWN]: But I think it is also
34:46 --> 34:49 [UNKNOWN]: it's because they made the decision to focus more on the present.
34:50 --> 35:10 [UNKNOWN]: And I think for the TV show for us as viewers, I think that that was, and from my perspective, the right decision to do, because there are things like in the book, you know, when you're focusing on one vampire's past, other players in the present just fade away to the background, like Louie in this book.
35:10 --> 35:14 [UNKNOWN]: And that I don't think that would make sense for this TV show.
35:14 --> 35:26 [UNKNOWN]: And so they made also decisions to bring in, you know, like the bring in Claudia Seyons from the seventh book, even the amount of stuff, obviously, with his Frankenstein era.
35:27 --> 35:35 [UNKNOWN]: So I think that that's the right thing personally to do for this TV show to have things play out at the same time rather than one at a time.
35:35 --> 35:37 [UNKNOWN]: So that necessitates
35:38 --> 35:43 [UNKNOWN]: being as the teases of listot story without it's going all in.
35:43 --> 35:53 [UNKNOWN]: But I think that it also makes sense as a character study because we are from the perspective of this character who does not like to talk about his past.
35:53 --> 35:56 [UNKNOWN]: He keeps saying it's against the vampire rules, which is just like a bullshit thing he made up.
35:58 --> 36:04 [UNKNOWN]: And so I think that we saw he made major strides with this season, but it would have
36:05 --> 36:13 [UNKNOWN]: You know, it's not like he's suddenly going to be, oh, Daniel Maloy, let me tell you my entire life right now that would not have been consistent with him as a character.
36:13 --> 36:17 [UNKNOWN]: And yeah, and I think we'll continue to get that.
36:17 --> 36:20 [UNKNOWN]: I think as long as we're allowed to have more seasons, we'll get more layers.
36:20 --> 36:23 [UNKNOWN]: Now, of course, I wish the seasons were longer, but it is what it is.
36:23 --> 36:26 [UNKNOWN]: And we know that money has most to do with that.
36:26 --> 36:26 [UNKNOWN]: I think.
36:33 --> 36:44 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, first of all, I think I'm just kind of used to it like whether it's house of the dragon or other shows just sort of like things feeling sometimes a little short or feeling like, oh, they could have probably pushed that a little further.
36:44 --> 36:52 [UNKNOWN]: So it, it almost, it does it, for example, in house of the dragon, I don't think it bothered me nearly as much as it clearly bothered you, John.
36:52 --> 36:53 [UNKNOWN]: So like it's.
36:54 --> 37:01 [UNKNOWN]: I think there's a lot that could have been said pacing-wise for that season of TV, but like the fact they didn't get to a certain point.
37:02 --> 37:04 [UNKNOWN]: Like I'm also remember, like I probably read this book 20 years ago.
37:05 --> 37:15 [UNKNOWN]: So honestly, if you had asked me to put a lot of money on which book the concert happened in, I'm not sure I would have been so confidently to save and not just...
37:16 --> 37:24 [UNKNOWN]: Isn't that the beginning of the Queen of the Dam because I associate the Queen of the Dam book with a little more present stuff and I associate it present plus like epic
37:26 --> 37:35 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, like real backstory, whereas I really associate the book, the vampire less thought with his backstory.
37:36 --> 37:38 [UNKNOWN]: And so the present stuff, I mean, it's interesting.
37:38 --> 37:42 [UNKNOWN]: The framing devices in Anne Rice novels kind of go in and out.
37:42 --> 37:47 [UNKNOWN]: Like, I haven't reread the second or the third one yet, but I did reread last year.
37:47 --> 37:48 [UNKNOWN]: I reread.
37:48 --> 37:57 [UNKNOWN]: the interview with Vampire, and if anybody reads that book, did you just notice that the framing device disappears halfway through it?
37:57 --> 37:59 [UNKNOWN]: Like, there's all the first half of the book.
37:59 --> 38:05 [UNKNOWN]: There's plenty of like, and the boy stopped to question me, or like, or no, I'm trying to remember who the voice is.
38:05 --> 38:06 [UNKNOWN]: Who's the narrator?
38:06 --> 38:08 [UNKNOWN]: But anyways, Daniel's stopping and just like he is in the show.
38:08 --> 38:10 [UNKNOWN]: I'm going, wait, what the hell did you just say?
38:10 --> 38:13 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, they just called in the boy until the boy.
38:13 --> 38:13 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
38:13 --> 38:15 [UNKNOWN]: Queen of the Dam doesn't next time is when we learn his name.
38:16 --> 38:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's that's that's crazy.
38:18 --> 38:19 [UNKNOWN]: They obviously changed that.
38:19 --> 38:28 [UNKNOWN]: But like halfway through the book, she stops really using that device until the end when they have their interaction that, of course, is the backstory to this show from the 70s.
38:28 --> 38:32 [UNKNOWN]: But the framing device was amped up majorly.
38:32 --> 38:37 [UNKNOWN]: The present timeline was amped up majorly in the first two seasons of this show.
38:37 --> 38:41 [UNKNOWN]: And so similarly, it seems like they are taking
38:42 --> 38:52 [UNKNOWN]: A lot of that backstory and saying, no, we are going to continue to focus on the framing device, which in this case is him recording this record to whoever the heck actually buys it.
38:52 --> 38:53 [UNKNOWN]: We have no idea.
38:53 --> 38:54 [UNKNOWN]: I think at this point.
38:54 --> 38:55 [UNKNOWN]: So, um,
38:56 --> 39:03 [UNKNOWN]: I feel like less stats backstory is less important, which probably is a bummer to some book readers.
39:03 --> 39:04 [UNKNOWN]: Personally, I don't have a problem with it.
39:04 --> 39:11 [UNKNOWN]: I like this stuff more a little bit than some of the self-ladulation that happens at some of these guys' backstories.
39:12 --> 39:23 [UNKNOWN]: But I think also like to what you said, and this doesn't directly relate to Corey's message so much as something Alicia, you just said about keeping everybody in.
39:25 --> 39:28 [UNKNOWN]: And I think they might continue this way, but obviously I stopped after six.
39:28 --> 39:33 [UNKNOWN]: It's like protagonist goes on an adventure and periodically checks in with his homies.
39:34 --> 39:42 [UNKNOWN]: Like, oh, I'm going to go on this cosmic touring adventure where I'm going to learn all about the creation of the universe and all that.
39:42 --> 39:45 [UNKNOWN]: And then at the beginning of the end, I'm going to check in with some of your
39:45 --> 39:57 [UNKNOWN]: favorite vampire friends and that's how a lot of these seem to go down and that just wouldn't work as a show like we can't have the vampire arm on season probably can't be just what it is in that book.
39:57 --> 40:02 [UNKNOWN]: probably people are going to want a little more of the other cast, right?
40:02 --> 40:12 [UNKNOWN]: So and I think they'll be sprinkling it in throughout rather than right or maybe but maybe way more than sprinkling it like like this has so much more Louis than the vampire let's stop does.
40:12 --> 40:12 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
40:12 --> 40:25 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, part of let's stop and Queen of the Dan are like oh and it's Louis and people are like yeah it's Louis whereas Louis is in every single episode of this show which is just so different from what it is in the books and I think they're at least for now smart to do it that way.
40:27 --> 40:27 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
40:27 --> 40:27 [UNKNOWN]: I agree.
40:28 --> 40:29 [UNKNOWN]: So, I agree.
40:29 --> 40:33 [UNKNOWN]: Well, thank you, Corey, for that food for thought for a great conversation.
40:34 --> 40:36 [UNKNOWN]: Let's take a quick pause here when we come back.
40:36 --> 40:39 [UNKNOWN]: We're going to start measuring the music of the vampire list out.
40:40 --> 40:40 [UNKNOWN]: Be right back.
40:53 --> 40:53 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
40:54 --> 41:03 [UNKNOWN]: So, um, I, I love that you guys recorded a whole new set of ad music with Occupella vocals and everything just for this new season of TTV.
41:04 --> 41:07 [UNKNOWN]: It's actually, you'll send that to us right after recording to inside baseball.
41:08 --> 41:08 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
41:08 --> 41:08 [UNKNOWN]: Sorry.
41:12 --> 41:19 [UNKNOWN]: So I sent you guys a list of questions and then mark you added your own list of questions.
41:20 --> 41:28 [UNKNOWN]: So let's start with the first question I asked you four things were each going to give a superlative to four songs.
41:29 --> 41:33 [UNKNOWN]: And then I will release on social media afterward what we all chose.
41:35 --> 41:56 [UNKNOWN]: So let's start with John, what did you, so what song did you choose for best music and the rule for this is the first time someone mentions a song we also mentioned what else Any other words that we have a for so we're talking about all but for the same song at the same time.
41:56 --> 41:58 [UNKNOWN]: So what was your best music selection?
41:59 --> 42:00 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, I'm picking black liquorice.
42:01 --> 42:02 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, here we go.
42:02 --> 42:02 [UNKNOWN]: Here's the clip.
42:13 --> 42:14 [UNKNOWN]: Well now it sounds like it sucks.
42:15 --> 42:17 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, I'm sorry I picked the wrong thing.
42:17 --> 42:21 [UNKNOWN]: You don't like a good violin intro.
42:48 --> 42:56 [UNKNOWN]: That's my favorite part of it, but I had it as my honorary mention for best music.
42:57 --> 42:58 [UNKNOWN]: What about you, Mark?
43:00 --> 43:06 [UNKNOWN]: I do not have any awards for this song, and I see John was saying a lot, but you muted yourself.
43:09 --> 43:11 [UNKNOWN]: Don, you were talking and we didn't hear any of what you were saying.
43:11 --> 43:13 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, I was just saying we should leave that end.
43:13 --> 43:16 [UNKNOWN]: We should leave, we should leave it our debating amount.
43:16 --> 43:18 [UNKNOWN]: Because I love that song.
43:18 --> 43:22 [UNKNOWN]: I just, uh, the intro of it doesn't sound as much like the rest of it.
43:23 --> 43:25 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, that's my favorite part.
43:25 --> 43:25 [UNKNOWN]: Sorry.
43:25 --> 43:27 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I love the rock and roll.
43:27 --> 43:29 [UNKNOWN]: I love the rock and roll violin.
43:29 --> 43:31 [UNKNOWN]: I, I'm a sucker for it in general.
43:31 --> 43:33 [UNKNOWN]: I thought I was really well used with this.
43:33 --> 43:35 [UNKNOWN]: I love the way that it's used.
43:35 --> 43:41 [UNKNOWN]: I know this is not the category of best used in the show, but I love the way that it's used as this pivot point.
43:41 --> 43:44 [UNKNOWN]: It's my honorary mention for best to use one of them.
43:45 --> 43:45 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
43:45 --> 43:48 [UNKNOWN]: And then I like how it feels like a good feel good.
43:48 --> 43:50 [UNKNOWN]: Like, we're back on the hunt.
43:50 --> 43:59 [UNKNOWN]: And then later it's twisted as like, oh, maybe I was kind of mean by killing you because you're now in my dream and you're now holding my, like, fun your iPhone.
44:03 --> 44:04 [UNKNOWN]: What do you thought's on the song?
44:04 --> 44:07 [UNKNOWN]: You said, no, we're awards from you.
44:07 --> 44:09 [UNKNOWN]: This didn't win any awards for me.
44:09 --> 44:11 [UNKNOWN]: Can you remind me what is happening?
44:11 --> 44:13 [UNKNOWN]: This is the first episode, right?
44:13 --> 44:14 [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
44:14 --> 44:24 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, this is the one where he has that transcendent stage experience and then pulls up Baby Janks and drinks from her hippy flip blood or whatever.
44:24 --> 44:25 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah, okay, okay.
44:26 --> 44:26 [UNKNOWN]: I think.
44:27 --> 44:34 [UNKNOWN]: I think for me that scene, I'm still very much trying to figure out what the heck is going on with the tone of this show in that first episode.
44:34 --> 44:41 [UNKNOWN]: So I don't know that the songs in that first episode hit me quite all say.
44:41 --> 44:42 [UNKNOWN]: I just like quite as well.
44:43 --> 44:46 [UNKNOWN]: Like I think there it's a cool song.
44:46 --> 44:48 [UNKNOWN]: I didn't stick out to me.
44:48 --> 44:50 [UNKNOWN]: So I'm a fan of the intro though.
44:50 --> 44:52 [UNKNOWN]: I think two against one.
44:55 --> 44:58 [UNKNOWN]: I would accept that ruling except that's anti-immond.
44:59 --> 45:00 [UNKNOWN]: John, you're muted again.
45:00 --> 45:01 [UNKNOWN]: It sounds like we're at a work meeting.
45:02 --> 45:06 [UNKNOWN]: I, I just, I like that I'm the one that had so many issues with my own pick.
45:06 --> 45:07 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
45:09 --> 45:11 [UNKNOWN]: Everybody else is defending my pick.
45:11 --> 45:11 [UNKNOWN]: Love it.
45:12 --> 45:27 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I guess my selection of it because I'll say the ones that Mark picked he gave me very specific things and for the rest I just chose for myself and Maybe I did make the right choices for everyone's tastes, but that was my favorite part of that song.
45:28 --> 45:31 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, no, it's my fault It's my fault for not giving you a specific part.
45:32 --> 45:38 [UNKNOWN]: Oh All right, Mark, what is your pick for best music?
45:39 --> 45:40 [UNKNOWN]: I've got your biggest fan
45:41 --> 45:42 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, here we go.
45:42 --> 45:45 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm your big ass friend.
45:47 --> 45:50 [UNKNOWN]: I can't deceive you every night this week.
45:51 --> 45:53 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you remind me of a man.
45:53 --> 45:56 [UNKNOWN]: What do you want for you?
45:56 --> 45:59 [UNKNOWN]: I need you to need me.
45:59 --> 46:01 [UNKNOWN]: I got a bottle of wine.
46:03 --> 46:22 [UNKNOWN]: And that's me watching as you sleep at night And that's me laughing on the darkness as you dream All of the desperate desires of your life Don't let me catch you cry
46:29 --> 46:33 [UNKNOWN]: So I, that is my pick for best used in the episode.
46:34 --> 46:36 [UNKNOWN]: Mind you, what is the light?
46:37 --> 46:38 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not surprised.
46:38 --> 46:43 [UNKNOWN]: That one is, are we supposed to say whether it got it, like that would have been an honorary, oh, I know.
46:43 --> 46:44 [UNKNOWN]: Sorry, yeah, I say you're on that.
46:44 --> 46:46 [UNKNOWN]: No, it actually literally won that for me too.
46:46 --> 46:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, okay.
46:47 --> 46:50 [UNKNOWN]: So all of us had to see, no, I have honorary mentions.
46:50 --> 46:57 [UNKNOWN]: I have a second and third song that I really love too, but this song, just like, why did I have you play that instead of the chorus?
46:57 --> 47:09 [UNKNOWN]: People talk a lot about a good chorus, but a good second verse, good words to it, a good like rising sort of, there's a drum beat that enters in that second verse, guitar is that coming.
47:09 --> 47:16 [UNKNOWN]: There's something about the second verse of the song that in a good song, sometimes makes me go, this song means business.
47:16 --> 47:16 [UNKNOWN]: I'm ready.
47:17 --> 47:19 [UNKNOWN]: I want that second chorus to come in 30 seconds.
47:19 --> 47:21 [UNKNOWN]: And so there's something about when I hear this song,
47:22 --> 47:47 [UNKNOWN]: at that point like a minute and a half in or whatever I'm like in and it's just such a well written song I'm thinking really more honestly musically than then divide though obviously like that scene is so important too um yeah just a cool song and yes it also won best use in the episode for me the music video is perfect the music video is perfect and the way that they that will
47:51 --> 47:53 [UNKNOWN]: was so dark and haunting.
47:54 --> 48:01 [UNKNOWN]: And again, that's why the character work in the show, especially the season, is second to none in any other show I think right now.
48:03 --> 48:20 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, this is, there's a famous story about Sam Reed, please, let's start, that when he first read this episode three script and he got to this part with this music video from Magnus's perspective, he apparently like threw his laptop across the room.
48:34 --> 48:38 [UNKNOWN]: And so he is, let's thought, like, he's like, I heard your song dancing.
48:38 --> 48:55 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I understand, like, it works because it is so absurdly disrespectful and it fits for Lestot so well that he would be, he was like, why wouldn't he be my fan, you know, that's the way you talk about your abuser?
48:56 --> 49:03 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and then yeah, to just have that it works because it's not just that like I was laughing the first time I saw it.
49:03 --> 49:10 [UNKNOWN]: I didn't know what was going to come next, but now it hits harder every time knowing that it's followed up by that
49:11 --> 49:18 [UNKNOWN]: double hitter with, you know, Louie reading to Bruce and the visualizations of the thoughts experience.
49:19 --> 49:25 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, that's why for me question number three we've already answered it all three of us.
49:25 --> 49:28 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, was song best used in the story.
49:28 --> 49:29 [UNKNOWN]: That's why it had to be.
49:29 --> 49:30 [UNKNOWN]: It had to be that one.
49:30 --> 49:33 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I've got on and remention for that, but this that episode.
49:34 --> 49:35 [UNKNOWN]: That use of music.
49:36 --> 49:38 [UNKNOWN]: It's really a musical in that moment too, right?
49:38 --> 49:40 [UNKNOWN]: Like it's not just music happening.
49:40 --> 49:44 [UNKNOWN]: There's it breaks reality right in a way that a few of these songs do.
49:45 --> 49:46 [UNKNOWN]: It's just so perfect really in a lot of ways.
49:46 --> 49:48 [UNKNOWN]: But I also happen to like the song, too.
49:48 --> 49:56 [UNKNOWN]: So that's why it's my it's my number one for for although I actually felt a little unsure at the end.
49:56 --> 50:00 [UNKNOWN]: So I'm super curious, Alicia, what your best music winner is.
50:02 --> 50:20 [UNKNOWN]: So my best music winner is when I call out your name, I just I just like and obviously I am a child of the 90s born in the 80s child of the 90s You can definitely Hear that in my musical influences and then this definitely speaks to that.
50:20 --> 50:27 [UNKNOWN]: I think this is maybe kind of one of the closer songs to the kind of music that was in the Queen of the Damned movie from
50:28 --> 50:30 [UNKNOWN]: They're really not as I guess it was.
50:31 --> 50:31 [UNKNOWN]: But okay, here it is.
50:32 --> 50:32 [UNKNOWN]: When I call it your name.
50:54 --> 51:04 [UNKNOWN]: So I clipped that section because Mark, you put down a time stamp and I can guess why, but that must mean you picked it for another award.
51:04 --> 51:05 [UNKNOWN]: What did you pick it for?
51:05 --> 51:10 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so I picked this one for best lyrics and there's a few rhymes.
51:10 --> 51:13 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not, you know, I'm not sure of Cavalier, rhyming with here.
51:13 --> 51:17 [UNKNOWN]: I'm like, come on, heart, but I think it's very emotional.
51:18 --> 51:19 [UNKNOWN]: I would do it.
51:19 --> 51:19 [UNKNOWN]: It's fine.
51:20 --> 51:21 [UNKNOWN]: I would do it so proudly.
51:22 --> 51:23 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, overall.
51:23 --> 51:26 [UNKNOWN]: It's a very emotional piece of writing and that moment.
51:26 --> 51:29 [UNKNOWN]: And this isn't, this is me looking around on Reddit and stuff.
51:29 --> 51:31 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not the person you've figured this out.
51:31 --> 51:34 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, it's like he's stuttering her name, Gabriella.
51:34 --> 51:37 [UNKNOWN]: Get it, get it, get it, get it out until the very end of the song.
51:38 --> 51:40 [UNKNOWN]: It's just very well written from a Valyric perspective.
51:40 --> 51:43 [UNKNOWN]: It's a story, it's a song that works if you don't know.
51:43 --> 51:46 [UNKNOWN]: It kind of works outside of the plot also.
51:46 --> 51:49 [UNKNOWN]: It's just like, tells an emotional,
51:50 --> 51:53 [UNKNOWN]: gives you an emotional stage and an emotional arc.
51:54 --> 51:56 [UNKNOWN]: And so yeah, I have it as my best lyrics.
51:56 --> 51:59 [UNKNOWN]: And I think that moment with the gag gag, which does happen.
51:59 --> 52:00 [UNKNOWN]: He does it probably four times.
52:00 --> 52:04 [UNKNOWN]: And then a minute later, finally we get the Gabriella sort of shouting at the end.
52:04 --> 52:05 [UNKNOWN]: It's just really powerful.
52:06 --> 52:07 [UNKNOWN]: Would you think of it musically?
52:09 --> 52:09 [UNKNOWN]: It's good.
52:09 --> 52:10 [UNKNOWN]: It's got that clip.
52:11 --> 52:14 [UNKNOWN]: It feels sort of host grungy to me now that you're mentioning.
52:14 --> 52:16 [UNKNOWN]: I'm like, yeah, I can imagine Eddie better singing that.
52:17 --> 52:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it's cool.
52:18 --> 52:19 [UNKNOWN]: I think it's epic.
52:19 --> 52:24 [UNKNOWN]: So I don't want to spoil our later conversation, but this one was in when I was
52:25 --> 52:33 [UNKNOWN]: thinking about creating a tracklist for an album, this one, merited some very important thought, careful thought.
52:33 --> 52:34 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, I think.
52:34 --> 52:35 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, good.
52:35 --> 52:35 [UNKNOWN]: That's great.
52:37 --> 52:53 [UNKNOWN]: Any, any other, I'll say for Best Music, I had also, I had Black licorice as an honorary mention and I also had La Fontaine de sang, as honorary mention, which I'll say anyone who hasn't heard at this start of our episode three mark you give a fantastic
52:56 --> 52:56 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
52:56 --> 52:57 [UNKNOWN]: Go listen to that.
52:58 --> 53:00 [UNKNOWN]: Go watch the season backwards.
53:00 --> 53:01 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
53:01 --> 53:02 [UNKNOWN]: Honorary mentions for best music.
53:02 --> 53:05 [UNKNOWN]: I've got stained glass eyes and also the loneliness.
53:05 --> 53:06 [UNKNOWN]: That song.
53:06 --> 53:09 [UNKNOWN]: There's something about how simple it is, but how powerful it is.
53:10 --> 53:16 [UNKNOWN]: My wife like two days ago like finished reading right after me and shut the light off and it startled me awake.
53:16 --> 53:19 [UNKNOWN]: And I could not sleep because in that moment for like an hour I just had the bump.
53:20 --> 53:26 [UNKNOWN]: But uh, um, and you stay and you stay and you stay and you like in my head.
53:26 --> 53:27 [UNKNOWN]: It's such a good song.
53:27 --> 53:29 [UNKNOWN]: I almost that you're biggest fan.
53:29 --> 53:31 [UNKNOWN]: I felt a little bad about choosing for two awards.
53:31 --> 53:35 [UNKNOWN]: So I almost gave it to loneliness, but what do you still can?
53:35 --> 53:36 [UNKNOWN]: You know, it's our podcast.
53:36 --> 53:37 [UNKNOWN]: We could.
53:37 --> 53:37 [UNKNOWN]: It's happened.
53:37 --> 53:38 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
53:38 --> 53:39 [UNKNOWN]: Let's re-record the last 20 minutes.
53:40 --> 53:43 [UNKNOWN]: What did you have any other honorary mentions for this category,
53:47 --> 53:51 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I did not because I don't give out participation awards.
53:51 --> 53:55 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, all right, then I'll just, I'll start off.
53:55 --> 53:59 [UNKNOWN]: I'll kick off best lyrics and I'll say I chose the loneliness for best lyrics.
54:00 --> 54:00 [UNKNOWN]: Here's the clip.
54:08 --> 54:29 [UNKNOWN]: Love a friend, and you stay, and you stay, and you stay And you stay with yourself, you can't escape This loneliness, it'll break, it'll break
54:41 --> 54:59 [UNKNOWN]: Don't hide it away Don't marry those feelings Don't worship that brave dogma
55:07 --> 55:18 [UNKNOWN]: That's a slightly longer clip, but I just I love the lyrics that I know John you said that they were on the nose But for me, this is like hope punk the musical Is this down?
55:21 --> 55:23 [UNKNOWN]: I'm laughing because it ain't got my super-lative.
55:24 --> 55:26 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, I do cringe-award.
55:27 --> 55:30 [UNKNOWN]: So basically, the opposite of the award you're giving.
55:31 --> 55:32 [UNKNOWN]: That's for lyrics?
55:32 --> 55:33 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
55:33 --> 55:35 [UNKNOWN]: I don't mean for lyrics.
55:35 --> 55:36 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you don't mean for lyrics.
55:36 --> 55:37 [UNKNOWN]: No, I've never listened to lyrics.
55:38 --> 55:46 [UNKNOWN]: Like, I'm so, I so like the music, this is like typical mark where like, I listen to the song 10 times and then I start actually paying attention to the sad story.
55:46 --> 55:49 [UNKNOWN]: Like, I have no idea what that song is about because I just like, I think it's a jam.
55:49 --> 55:59 [UNKNOWN]: So like you all are noticing like maybe I'll hate the lyrics but but uh to music is so cool I honestly couldn't tell you what this is about aside from just a few vague notions.
55:59 --> 56:00 [UNKNOWN]: So cringe, huh?
56:01 --> 56:01 [UNKNOWN]: It's the cringe one.
56:02 --> 56:05 [UNKNOWN]: It's just when the minute he goes you can't fuck away the loneliness.
56:06 --> 56:08 [UNKNOWN]: I was like Okay, which is the first word.
56:09 --> 56:10 [UNKNOWN]: So you were out from the gym.
56:10 --> 56:11 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, oh, that's too.
56:11 --> 56:11 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah
56:13 --> 56:23 [UNKNOWN]: I just I was just like and like it was a wonderful episode and there's even wonderful moments in that song like when he goes up to Louis in slow motion I just couldn't have to do it to the main.
56:23 --> 56:23 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, wait, it was.
56:23 --> 56:25 [UNKNOWN]: Mm-hmm.
56:25 --> 56:26 [UNKNOWN]: Well, whatever then I really hated the song.
56:26 --> 56:28 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, I'm talking about apparently I'm mixing it up with.
56:29 --> 56:34 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, yeah, no, it's the current it's the cringe award and I'm sorry and I didn't give any runners up because that would be me.
56:35 --> 56:59 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, I, yeah, I have it also as an honorary mention for best used in the episode just because I really like the way that it, yeah, at the end of that whole emotional episode three and you've just gone through the ringer with that whole, you know, juxtaposition of the sexual assault speak that we just referred to.
57:01 --> 57:01 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
57:02 --> 57:05 [UNKNOWN]: It's like this side that it's like a sigh of relief this song.
57:05 --> 57:10 [UNKNOWN]: I just the way that it's used there and it also is a moment with the start where
57:11 --> 57:35 [UNKNOWN]: he's it's a win moment for him and it doesn't mean he's going to keep winning for the rest of season because that's not how things ever work but he sees Magnus out the door even his mother sees like he's okay and she goes and even Nikki is not like waving his bloody stump and screaming he's smiling and you know it's a moment of peace so I think it's really well used in the episode as well.
57:36 --> 57:43 [UNKNOWN]: I have this as honorary mentions for both of my super-lative categories, and that's right as a guest.
57:44 --> 57:46 [UNKNOWN]: I am taking over and I have two categories.
57:46 --> 57:51 [UNKNOWN]: I'm going to sleep in the master bedroom, stay and over at your house, so I have two categories.
57:51 --> 57:52 [UNKNOWN]: We'll get to them later.
57:52 --> 57:55 [UNKNOWN]: I've best vocal performance and most human.
57:56 --> 57:59 [UNKNOWN]: And it is an honorable mention for both of those categories.
58:00 --> 58:08 [UNKNOWN]: All right, um, okay, and so you said when I call out your name was your lyrics, we talked about that.
58:09 --> 58:11 [UNKNOWN]: John, what was your lyrics pick?
58:11 --> 58:14 [UNKNOWN]: My lyrics pick was, um, same glass sides.
58:15 --> 58:17 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, all right, let's play that.
58:30 --> 58:40 [UNKNOWN]: It's the fear that I'm right Don't you try to forget All the fears you regret Like the ashes you spread to you I've not been with you
58:58 --> 59:05 [UNKNOWN]: So I had it as an honorary mention for lyrics, and also an honorary mention for best used in the episode.
59:06 --> 59:09 [UNKNOWN]: I also have it as honorary mention for best used.
59:09 --> 59:13 [UNKNOWN]: Just don't you try to forget the things you've regret.
59:13 --> 59:21 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, that's just, that to me, I know Alicia, you had said that the loneliness was a thesis statement for the season.
59:22 --> 59:25 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know, I feel like that line in Stinglass.
59:25 --> 59:34 [UNKNOWN]: I just also another thesis statement for the season is let's stop trying to forget the things he regrets, and then realizing he can't, and he has to incorporate it and confront it.
59:36 --> 59:44 [UNKNOWN]: So part of what I love about this song, and I have it as an honorable mention for best music and for best music episode.
59:44 --> 59:47 [UNKNOWN]: And it won one of my super-lative categories, which I can get to in a second.
59:49 --> 59:56 [UNKNOWN]: there's this moment when he comes to, to kind of terms emotionally with the Claudia situation in this song, right?
59:57 --> 01:00:03 [UNKNOWN]: And then it's upended kind of, they have this terrible closure with her, the sayons, right?
01:00:03 --> 01:00:04 [UNKNOWN]: But this song,
01:00:05 --> 01:00:31 [UNKNOWN]: still exists like that emotion is documented in song in a way that like music can do that art can do that that that that that he still feels that regret he still feels even though maybe one day later in in universe they're like ah screw Claudia she's she hates us but like this was still real in the moment that happened and I think that's something that's so powerful and you can go back and listen to this song as a as a like a marker of that emotional moment
01:00:33 --> 01:00:45 [UNKNOWN]: disruptive like think think this rupted think of all the love songs that were written for then a person who you have a angry breakup with later that emotion is still documented and so there's something beautiful about that.
01:00:45 --> 01:00:48 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah you ever hear the song ball into by then folds.
01:00:50 --> 01:00:59 [UNKNOWN]: Maybe I don't think so I've heard a lot of then folds but it was um so we did a collaboration with Nick Hornby you'll you might recall wrote high fidelity among other novels.
01:00:59 --> 01:01:06 [UNKNOWN]: And this song is about a one-hit wonder who leaves his wife for a younger woman.
01:01:07 --> 01:01:09 [UNKNOWN]: And now he has to sing about his first wife forever.
01:01:10 --> 01:01:12 [UNKNOWN]: Because the whole hit was about her.
01:01:13 --> 01:01:14 [UNKNOWN]: And it's...
01:01:15 --> 01:01:18 [UNKNOWN]: Absolutely an incredible representation of what you're saying.
01:01:18 --> 01:01:27 [UNKNOWN]: It's like it is a snapshot in time Second verse like no one ever like to hear the song he wrote for Cindy and like I yeah, it's it's great It's great.
01:01:27 --> 01:01:42 [UNKNOWN]: Well snap shots and time can also be prisons for I guess the one hit wonders Yeah, yeah, I for me I like I said it was Back up for best use in the episode although I should have had it also as Anna I mentioned for best music to to be honest
01:01:45 --> 01:01:50 [UNKNOWN]: But it is beautiful, and the lyrics are beautiful.
01:01:50 --> 01:01:52 [UNKNOWN]: Also, I should have, yeah, I did have a fair lyrics.
01:01:53 --> 01:02:03 [UNKNOWN]: But for me, especially just the fact people wanted so much to see, let's start, confront that pain of
01:02:04 --> 01:02:06 [UNKNOWN]: being part of what happened to Claudia.
01:02:06 --> 01:02:13 [UNKNOWN]: And of course, we still need to go back and see the whole trial situation from his perspective, because we know from the books, there's more to it.
01:02:13 --> 01:02:15 [UNKNOWN]: It's not going to make people like our mom better.
01:02:17 --> 01:02:30 [UNKNOWN]: But there's, yeah, there's more of that story to tell, but what we did get so far that one of the most memorable things of episode seven of season two is just the way that she stared at him.
01:02:31 --> 01:02:38 [UNKNOWN]: the whole time, you know, that ultimate betrayal, and how sure are you that we're going to get more of that?
01:02:38 --> 01:02:39 [UNKNOWN]: Very.
01:02:39 --> 01:02:39 [UNKNOWN]: Very sure.
01:02:40 --> 01:02:40 [UNKNOWN]: Really?
01:02:40 --> 01:02:40 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:02:40 --> 01:02:40 [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
01:02:41 --> 01:02:45 [UNKNOWN]: I kind of feel like they might, they might have kind of around it out the Claudia story.
01:02:45 --> 01:02:45 [UNKNOWN]: No.
01:02:46 --> 01:02:49 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, this is, yeah, people were also saying stuff like that.
01:02:49 --> 01:02:51 [UNKNOWN]: No, they're definitely have not rounded out the Claudia story.
01:02:51 --> 01:02:54 [UNKNOWN]: Well, first of all, there's a gap in the salt circle.
01:02:54 --> 01:02:56 [UNKNOWN]: That's by definition, not done.
01:02:57 --> 01:03:08 [UNKNOWN]: But they, but they pull the thing, I mean, this is, you know, to me almost a time sign that like, well, they're probably not going to adapt books seven or whatever if they're pulling the most iconic moments from that book and putting them here, right?
01:03:09 --> 01:03:15 [UNKNOWN]: No, yeah, but they're not going to adapt it as a solo book, but they will keep going with the story.
01:03:15 --> 01:03:16 [UNKNOWN]: They're just pulled.
01:03:16 --> 01:03:16 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
01:03:16 --> 01:03:19 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, yeah, there's still a lot more to the American book than that.
01:03:21 --> 01:03:24 [UNKNOWN]: But they're just telling the story in a order where they can keep characters and playing.
01:03:24 --> 01:03:27 [UNKNOWN]: Claudia's story is not done, and no, that's not done.
01:03:27 --> 01:03:34 [UNKNOWN]: But anyway, but just this whole thing, like I said before, about the stop being someone who doesn't want to confront
01:03:35 --> 01:03:59 [UNKNOWN]: these real things stare them face on and the fact that he did that he went in and stared Regina in the face for Louie because Louie's like I feel like I'm going crazy here and the fact that that is finally the thing that had the effect on him his entire demeanor changed after that he went back to the studio he recorded the song he said we're throwing out everything we did before I finally found like the realness basically it forced him
01:03:59 --> 01:04:01 [UNKNOWN]: to be more real with himself.
01:04:01 --> 01:04:05 [UNKNOWN]: And this is also where we see his attitude toward his mother start to change too.
01:04:06 --> 01:04:14 [UNKNOWN]: Like he, it's, this was a moment of confronting something in his life that forced him to grow a bit.
01:04:14 --> 01:04:16 [UNKNOWN]: I think this is one of those key moments, yeah.
01:04:18 --> 01:04:23 [UNKNOWN]: I've also got this song winning my one of my super-latives, best vocal performance.
01:04:23 --> 01:04:23 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:04:24 --> 01:04:29 [UNKNOWN]: And this was actually tricky because La Fontaine, this song is really, really beautifully sung.
01:04:29 --> 01:04:35 [UNKNOWN]: I think the loneliness has some truly awesome vocal moments he does.
01:04:37 --> 01:04:47 [UNKNOWN]: I think a lot of them do, but there's something about the combination of sort of power and vulnerability with the way he sings some of the song that is why I chose that one.
01:04:47 --> 01:04:52 [UNKNOWN]: Also, some cool backing vocals by what I think is tough cookie.
01:04:53 --> 01:04:54 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, it is, Sarah Swire.
01:04:54 --> 01:04:55 [UNKNOWN]: And that's pretty cool.
01:04:55 --> 01:04:56 [UNKNOWN]: Sounds good.
01:04:57 --> 01:04:57 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:04:58 --> 01:05:05 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, um, do we have any other, let's see, any other, uh, La Fontaine to song.
01:05:06 --> 01:05:14 [UNKNOWN]: I also have as an honorary mention for best lyrics, uh, even though I know it's a botalare pro poem, but, you know, botalare did it.
01:05:15 --> 01:05:18 [UNKNOWN]: So, I've got Big Bad Wolf.
01:05:18 --> 01:05:18 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:05:19 --> 01:05:21 [UNKNOWN]: Big Bad Wolf for me is the honoraryment, honorable mention.
01:05:21 --> 01:05:23 [UNKNOWN]: I love the freak out in the middle of it.
01:05:23 --> 01:05:23 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
01:05:23 --> 01:05:24 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
01:05:24 --> 01:05:25 [UNKNOWN]: I'll come back to that.
01:05:25 --> 01:05:25 [UNKNOWN]: Welcome back to that.
01:05:25 --> 01:05:26 [UNKNOWN]: I'm sure.
01:05:28 --> 01:05:32 [UNKNOWN]: My honorary mention I realized was for a different category.
01:05:32 --> 01:05:35 [UNKNOWN]: It was best to use the episode, which was butter Scott's bitch because.
01:05:35 --> 01:05:35 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
01:05:36 --> 01:05:36 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:05:36 --> 01:05:37 [UNKNOWN]: Let's let's move on to best to use.
01:05:37 --> 01:05:38 [UNKNOWN]: So that's okay.
01:05:40 --> 01:05:42 [UNKNOWN]: Because we all said biggest fan was our pick.
01:05:42 --> 01:05:42 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:05:43 --> 01:05:43 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:05:43 --> 01:05:44 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:05:44 --> 01:05:48 [UNKNOWN]: But my my bet that was my honorary mention because I just love the way.
01:05:49 --> 01:06:00 [UNKNOWN]: It kept pausing for him to like reconsider and then like it's such a such a badass Wagger that like then how is a moment of doubt and I think that that was an amazing You submit in the story.
01:06:00 --> 01:06:02 [UNKNOWN]: We're talking about in the last episode, right?
01:06:02 --> 01:06:02 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:06:03 --> 01:06:03 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:06:04 --> 01:06:06 [UNKNOWN]: And it just kind of loops the same.
01:06:06 --> 01:06:06 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:06:06 --> 01:06:07 [UNKNOWN]: If he doesn't sing it does he?
01:06:08 --> 01:06:08 [UNKNOWN]: No.
01:06:08 --> 01:06:09 [UNKNOWN]: But I just like what it does.
01:06:13 --> 01:06:17 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I had a lot of best use and that's actually my most honorable mentions.
01:06:17 --> 01:06:18 [UNKNOWN]: I already said black licorice.
01:06:18 --> 01:06:20 [UNKNOWN]: I already said stained glass eyes.
01:06:20 --> 01:06:21 [UNKNOWN]: I already said the loneliness.
01:06:22 --> 01:06:28 [UNKNOWN]: The other two I had for honorable mentions in best use in the episode is why do I have to feel?
01:06:28 --> 01:06:32 [UNKNOWN]: Which is the one where he slow floats up to literally.
01:06:33 --> 01:06:53 [UNKNOWN]: and brutal love, which is, again, him singing to Louie in the last, and I think that was just a moment of their reconnecting as a couple, and also of Gabriela realising that Louie is his true love, and she cannot own Lestat, because he's given his heart to someone else.
01:06:54 --> 01:07:08 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, I'll just say that as far as why I have so many in that category is just I think said something about this show that it's not just about like, oh, let's not say rock star, let's make songs.
01:07:08 --> 01:07:13 [UNKNOWN]: Like you can really tell that Daniel Hart was an integral part of the writer's room.
01:07:14 --> 01:07:20 [UNKNOWN]: And yeah, that these this musical exploration that let's start was doing of himself
01:07:23 --> 01:07:28 [UNKNOWN]: his own feelings was just so well done and that's one of the things reasons why I love this so much.
01:07:29 --> 01:07:29 [UNKNOWN]: But okay.
01:07:30 --> 01:07:31 [UNKNOWN]: Give us your specials.
01:07:32 --> 01:07:34 [UNKNOWN]: Superlative of choice since we already brought it up.
01:07:36 --> 01:07:41 [UNKNOWN]: My award for best mid-song crash out goes to big bad wolf.
01:07:42 --> 01:07:59 [UNKNOWN]: You have a try to let someone back in That they come to you with a softness in their eyes And they'll grow if you dare hard And then you find out about a certain book As a nation's method of misremembering the cobwebs If the days after you come out
01:08:00 --> 01:08:19 [UNKNOWN]: I did not ride the fucking wolverine blues I never told you that And that pleaded skirt with a weakhold-run meat-shadish-a-fuse Let's up white And I have scars on my chest No matter what I've done, I am the vampire foveo It's just the initials on the backside
01:08:19 --> 01:08:29 [UNKNOWN]: And I'd take it target this, this, and it's same person, and I was linear, not hard to turn, and I would never say that's a glory on the train.
01:08:29 --> 01:08:35 [UNKNOWN]: I would never ever say that, you can't do this, Judo!
01:08:39 --> 01:08:40 [UNKNOWN]: I mean self-explanatory, right?
01:08:41 --> 01:08:41 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:08:44 --> 01:08:47 [UNKNOWN]: Um, so John, you gave the cringe aboard to the loneliness.
01:08:47 --> 01:08:52 [UNKNOWN]: Mark, you said, you gave best vocal to stained glass eyes, but you had one more.
01:08:52 --> 01:08:53 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, most human.
01:08:54 --> 01:08:55 [UNKNOWN]: And it's why do I have to feel?
01:08:56 --> 01:08:57 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:08:57 --> 01:08:59 [UNKNOWN]: And are you going to play it?
01:08:59 --> 01:09:01 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, we'll play it.
01:09:15 --> 01:09:17 [UNKNOWN]: Grail!
01:09:19 --> 01:09:21 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, I can sleep!
01:09:38 --> 01:09:41 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it's just, it's very organic to me.
01:09:41 --> 01:09:44 [UNKNOWN]: It's also features a lot of TC singing with him.
01:09:45 --> 01:09:47 [UNKNOWN]: It has kind of a 70's vibe.
01:09:47 --> 01:09:48 [UNKNOWN]: It feels very soulful.
01:09:48 --> 01:09:49 [UNKNOWN]: It feels very analog.
01:09:49 --> 01:09:49 [UNKNOWN]: Kind of.
01:09:49 --> 01:09:50 [UNKNOWN]: There's something about this.
01:09:51 --> 01:09:59 [UNKNOWN]: That's a lot less sort of produced than some of the other songs, not counting like the demos or the ones that are supposed to be sort of live or whatever.
01:09:59 --> 01:10:04 [UNKNOWN]: There's something about this song that just, obviously, like some of the lyrics would do this, too.
01:10:07 --> 01:10:08 [UNKNOWN]: in a way slamming on the tape delay.
01:10:09 --> 01:10:13 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but but there's something that's feels so 20 a century about that, right?
01:10:13 --> 01:10:14 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:10:14 --> 01:10:31 [UNKNOWN]: That feels like 60, 70s that just give this kind of a rawness that I really appreciated, especially in the context of listening not just to the episodes, but going back and listening to them as songs, this one stand to stood out for that reason.
01:10:32 --> 01:10:35 [UNKNOWN]: Mark, you ever use that plugin where it has the real of tape,
01:10:35 --> 01:10:46 [UNKNOWN]: on it and you like run it through, it's like creamer, plug, I think it tape and it like makes it kind of, it basically just adds a little white noise of the bottom, but they're like, no, it makes it sound like it's on tape.
01:10:47 --> 01:10:49 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, no, but does it get out of time or something?
01:10:49 --> 01:10:52 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, yeah, essentially, you're kind of, yeah, no, that's great.
01:10:52 --> 01:10:52 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:10:53 --> 01:10:55 [UNKNOWN]: It's like 80% white noise.
01:10:55 --> 01:10:56 [UNKNOWN]: It's probably what they did.
01:10:56 --> 01:10:58 [UNKNOWN]: It's all highly digital, I'm sure.
01:10:58 --> 01:11:00 [UNKNOWN]: But they did a good job of making it feel analog.
01:11:01 --> 01:11:01 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
01:11:02 --> 01:11:09 [UNKNOWN]: Alright, so our final picks for the top choices and I will share this on social media after this episode is out.
01:11:10 --> 01:11:21 [UNKNOWN]: For best music, John said black licorice, Mark said your biggest fan, I said when I call out your name for lyrics, John said stained glass eyes, Mark said when I call out your name, I said the loneliness.
01:11:21 --> 01:11:24 [UNKNOWN]: For story use, John said we also your biggest fan.
01:11:25 --> 01:11:39 [UNKNOWN]: And for our special awards, John awarded the Loneliness, the Cringe Award, Mark gave out two awards for Best Vocal to Staying Glass Eyes and most human to why do I have to feel, and I gave my award for Best Mid-Song Crash Out to Big Bad Wolf.
01:11:40 --> 01:11:50 [UNKNOWN]: And I also, um, I put up some polls in the discord for the community and I ended up just, yeah, because there's there's 19 songs that were originally released.
01:11:50 --> 01:11:52 [UNKNOWN]: So I had to divide it into two polls.
01:11:52 --> 01:11:57 [UNKNOWN]: So people got to vote on one half of the season and second half of the season.
01:11:57 --> 01:12:03 [UNKNOWN]: So the results there, and I'll say the poll is not complete at the time of recording.
01:12:03 --> 01:12:15 [UNKNOWN]: I will share the final results also in social media in the future, but as of the time of recording for the first half of the season, the winning song is The Loneliness with 31%.
01:12:17 --> 01:12:29 [UNKNOWN]: tied for second place is La Fontaine de sang and big boss and with one vote each is all fall down, why do I have to feel in your biggest fan?
01:12:29 --> 01:12:32 [UNKNOWN]: So thoughts on the first, that's the first half of the season.
01:12:33 --> 01:12:37 [UNKNOWN]: That has a lot more spread out than the second half of the season, I'll say, the votes.
01:12:38 --> 01:12:41 [UNKNOWN]: I have thoughts on some of those songs that I want to save for our next segment.
01:12:42 --> 01:12:42 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:12:43 --> 01:12:43 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:12:43 --> 01:12:45 [UNKNOWN]: I like that they like the loneliness.
01:12:45 --> 01:12:46 [UNKNOWN]: I agree with that.
01:12:46 --> 01:12:48 [UNKNOWN]: You're all out of your minds.
01:12:48 --> 01:12:49 [UNKNOWN]: I just, okay.
01:12:50 --> 01:12:50 [UNKNOWN]: It's fine.
01:12:50 --> 01:12:51 [UNKNOWN]: It's fine.
01:12:51 --> 01:12:55 [UNKNOWN]: I just, every time I hear very literal lyrics, don't listen to the lyrics, John.
01:12:56 --> 01:12:58 [UNKNOWN]: I can't handle it.
01:12:58 --> 01:13:00 [UNKNOWN]: And that might be a me brawl.
01:13:00 --> 01:13:02 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, love.
01:13:02 --> 01:13:08 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, second half of the season, the winner with 46% is stained glass eyes.
01:13:09 --> 01:13:12 [UNKNOWN]: Second place with 31% is brutal love.
01:13:13 --> 01:13:21 [UNKNOWN]: And then we've got a big bed wolf when I call your name and dancing with myself for with one vote each as of the time for quitting.
01:13:22 --> 01:13:24 [UNKNOWN]: Do you guys like the dancing with myself cover?
01:13:24 --> 01:13:24 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I like it.
01:13:25 --> 01:13:25 [UNKNOWN]: It's fine.
01:13:26 --> 01:13:28 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I feel like it could be better.
01:13:29 --> 01:13:30 [UNKNOWN]: There's something about it.
01:13:30 --> 01:13:36 [UNKNOWN]: I expect more like there's, and that actually I heard, I guess I say it in retrospect, I expected barks.
01:13:37 --> 01:13:38 [UNKNOWN]: That's one of the first things they released.
01:13:38 --> 01:13:47 [UNKNOWN]: I heard that before we watched the show, and I feel like less fat in that show could have even, and I know they treated it like it was a spur-the-moment thing.
01:13:48 --> 01:13:53 [UNKNOWN]: He could have even, he could out Billy Idol, Billy Idol, I think.
01:13:53 --> 01:13:57 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, you want to talk about songs that you would wash your car, too?
01:13:57 --> 01:13:59 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, that's one of them.
01:13:59 --> 01:14:06 [UNKNOWN]: You know, they that cover, that's one of them.
01:14:06 --> 01:14:08 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, okay, and so let's, let's, uh,
01:14:10 --> 01:14:20 [UNKNOWN]: That's actually take a quick break, and when we come back, we're going to do our speed round of marks, foot, we're putting together our own albums under marks direction, we'll be our back.
01:14:33 --> 01:14:54 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, so I'll say that this prompt came before we got we just got I think the day actually we're recording the release of they released a new the failures album it's on streaming now presumably they'll be physical media announcement soon, but the failures album has 23 tracks.
01:14:56 --> 01:15:03 [UNKNOWN]: So there's the 19 tracks that were already released, plus they added new versions of a couple of them.
01:15:03 --> 01:15:11 [UNKNOWN]: So we have now Lestot's version of Lupiti Kuh, we have the bare bones version of stained glass eyes.
01:15:11 --> 01:15:16 [UNKNOWN]: So that's the version that was in the episode rather than the more produced version that we had released before.
01:15:16 --> 01:15:43 [UNKNOWN]: We have a more produced version of Hit the Lights, which is this in demo version in the original releases, and then there's a remix of the loneliness on that as well, but when you gave us this prompt, there were 19 track album tracks released, I'll say I actually did choose one of the new ones in one of my fix, but do you want to walk us through Mark what are what are the questions and what are
01:15:43 --> 01:15:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so I was thinking before I knew they were going to release all of them.
01:15:47 --> 01:15:53 [UNKNOWN]: I was thinking while I was listening to these songs, like, what would you do if you were actually pretending this was a record they released, right?
01:15:54 --> 01:15:54 [UNKNOWN]: And...
01:15:56 --> 01:16:00 [UNKNOWN]: Then I realized they were like 19 and I'm like, that's not this kind of music in 2020.
01:16:00 --> 01:16:02 [UNKNOWN]: What is this 2025 when it's set?
01:16:02 --> 01:16:04 [UNKNOWN]: People aren't releasing a lot of 19 track albums.
01:16:04 --> 01:16:05 [UNKNOWN]: Let's pair this down.
01:16:05 --> 01:16:06 [UNKNOWN]: So we're doing Beatles rules.
01:16:07 --> 01:16:10 [UNKNOWN]: So 14 is the magic number for a lot of the Beatles album.
01:16:10 --> 01:16:10 [UNKNOWN]: So we'll do that.
01:16:11 --> 01:16:15 [UNKNOWN]: And what I asked everybody to bring is what's the opening track?
01:16:16 --> 01:16:17 [UNKNOWN]: What's the closing track?
01:16:18 --> 01:16:23 [UNKNOWN]: What's your favorite song that isn't going to make the album because we've got to cut five of them now.
01:16:23 --> 01:16:23 [UNKNOWN]: It's ain't no now.
01:16:23 --> 01:16:25 [UNKNOWN]: We got to cut nine of them, right?
01:16:26 --> 01:16:29 [UNKNOWN]: But it's going to be a B side or it'll be on the Deluxe version.
01:16:29 --> 01:16:35 [UNKNOWN]: And then what's the least favorite song that the record company or one of your bandmates who loves it?
01:16:35 --> 01:16:38 [UNKNOWN]: Somebody's going to force it on the record even though you really don't like it.
01:16:38 --> 01:16:40 [UNKNOWN]: I think I maybe know what what John's going to do.
01:16:40 --> 01:16:40 [UNKNOWN]: But
01:16:41 --> 01:16:47 [UNKNOWN]: So it may not be your least favorite song though because maybe you, maybe it's just not going to be on the album, right?
01:16:48 --> 01:16:48 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, actually no.
01:16:49 --> 01:16:52 [UNKNOWN]: I just, I just actually, I just looked at my pick.
01:16:52 --> 01:16:53 [UNKNOWN]: I think I'm going to surprise you.
01:16:53 --> 01:16:54 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:16:54 --> 01:16:54 [UNKNOWN]: Good.
01:16:54 --> 01:17:01 [UNKNOWN]: So those are the, and we don't know what answers are, but this is we would then have to fight it out and choose
01:17:11 --> 01:17:18 [UNKNOWN]: So what's your opening track me my opening track is big bad wolf I actually
01:17:19 --> 01:17:26 [UNKNOWN]: Considered all fall down and I'll talk about that later for maybe obvious reasons, but big bad wolf just has the right energy.
01:17:26 --> 01:17:31 [UNKNOWN]: It has the rant near the end that's just, I feel like it's excellent for tone setting.
01:17:32 --> 01:17:40 [UNKNOWN]: And I feel like some of the emotional weight of some of the other songs might be subverted if it were to immediately come after.
01:17:40 --> 01:17:45 [UNKNOWN]: So this is a song that's got to make the album I think, but it can't hurt anybody is the first song.
01:17:46 --> 01:17:47 [UNKNOWN]: I guess sort of is where I came from.
01:17:50 --> 01:17:52 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, it's got for opener, which here's jump.
01:17:53 --> 01:17:54 [UNKNOWN]: I changed mine at the last minute.
01:17:54 --> 01:18:00 [UNKNOWN]: I decided it is butter scotch bitch because imagine you, you've just put on an album.
01:18:00 --> 01:18:01 [UNKNOWN]: You don't know what's coming on.
01:18:02 --> 01:18:03 [UNKNOWN]: The record, the record starts.
01:18:04 --> 01:18:06 [UNKNOWN]: Let's say you're in vinyl and it, and it's just started playing.
01:18:06 --> 01:18:07 [UNKNOWN]: You're like, what's going to start?
01:18:08 --> 01:18:10 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, boat.
01:18:10 --> 01:18:13 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and I'm like, yeah, that's, that's getting me hype now.
01:18:13 --> 01:18:15 [UNKNOWN]: Now, I want to know what's on the rest of this.
01:18:16 --> 01:18:17 [UNKNOWN]: that's fair.
01:18:17 --> 01:18:18 [UNKNOWN]: That's fair.
01:18:19 --> 01:18:24 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I guess for similar reasons, mine was black licorice because I like that.
01:18:24 --> 01:18:27 [UNKNOWN]: Although, yeah, about a scotch of bitch would have been a good one too.
01:18:27 --> 01:18:31 [UNKNOWN]: See, that was my original pick was black licorice and I chickened out.
01:18:32 --> 01:18:33 [UNKNOWN]: I think it's too high.
01:18:33 --> 01:18:34 [UNKNOWN]: I think I have to ease in.
01:18:35 --> 01:18:37 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you don't like the beginning of black licorice though.
01:18:37 --> 01:18:38 [UNKNOWN]: Wasn't the one that you didn't like the way it opened?
01:18:39 --> 01:18:40 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, no, you just didn't like.
01:18:40 --> 01:18:41 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, that's true.
01:18:41 --> 01:18:42 [UNKNOWN]: That's true.
01:18:42 --> 01:18:42 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:18:42 --> 01:18:44 [UNKNOWN]: All right, closing track.
01:18:45 --> 01:18:46 [UNKNOWN]: I've got when I call out your name.
01:18:47 --> 01:18:49 [UNKNOWN]: And it's just very epic.
01:18:49 --> 01:18:57 [UNKNOWN]: And I toyed with the idea not to spoil conversations that John's going to have on our podcast in a couple weeks when we talk about concept albums.
01:18:57 --> 01:19:04 [UNKNOWN]: But I told with the idea of whether this is just a regular album, or if it's a concept album, or even a rock opera, where we've got to sculpt the story.
01:19:05 --> 01:19:09 [UNKNOWN]: So this is the final track, not necessarily in a concept album.
01:19:10 --> 01:19:16 [UNKNOWN]: But just musically, when I call it your name, seems to really just work well as a rock album closer.
01:19:18 --> 01:19:19 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, and John.
01:19:20 --> 01:19:21 [UNKNOWN]: I like that, Mark.
01:19:22 --> 01:19:23 [UNKNOWN]: I have traditionally taken the approach.
01:19:24 --> 01:19:25 [UNKNOWN]: Well, no, that's not true.
01:19:25 --> 01:19:27 [UNKNOWN]: You've listened to both of my albums.
01:19:28 --> 01:19:30 [UNKNOWN]: I've gone 50, 50 on this.
01:19:30 --> 01:19:41 [UNKNOWN]: I whether you do like a hard clothes or I do also like a hard clothes followed by a soft ballad to the view, probably be off and leave you wanting a little more.
01:19:41 --> 01:19:43 [UNKNOWN]: So I pick St. Glass Eyes for the latter.
01:19:43 --> 01:19:46 [UNKNOWN]: That's your ballad to ease you off the album.
01:19:47 --> 01:19:48 [UNKNOWN]: Maybe because the vinyl record,
01:19:49 --> 01:19:59 [UNKNOWN]: is more likely to skip at the end, and therefore you need to end on a softer song, which is why they often use to, I'm pretty sure that's why they used to go with the softer songs at the end.
01:20:01 --> 01:20:02 [UNKNOWN]: A sample of two to mess the needle up.
01:20:02 --> 01:20:04 [UNKNOWN]: Wow, yeah, that's crazy.
01:20:05 --> 01:20:07 [UNKNOWN]: I, you don't think that it's too buried.
01:20:07 --> 01:20:11 [UNKNOWN]: You don't think the song would be a single, like that's the one thing at the end that they could be a single.
01:20:12 --> 01:20:15 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I have the right-handed end on a strong note.
01:20:16 --> 01:20:19 [UNKNOWN]: It's not about whether and I'm just saying what's normal, right?
01:20:19 --> 01:20:21 [UNKNOWN]: What's the record company going to make us choose?
01:20:22 --> 01:20:25 [UNKNOWN]: That's the one, that's the one consideration I'm worried about there.
01:20:25 --> 01:20:32 [UNKNOWN]: My choice was the loneliness, just because I liked, you know, it has that summary aspect of it.
01:20:32 --> 01:20:42 [UNKNOWN]: It just feels like a release, like I said, I like how it's used at the end of this pivotal episode, arguably, the best of the mall perhaps up there with five at least.
01:20:42 --> 01:20:43 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
01:20:44 --> 01:20:44 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, sorry.
01:20:44 --> 01:20:45 [UNKNOWN]: Sorry.
01:20:45 --> 01:20:46 [UNKNOWN]: Now, I'm still on my argument with Mark.
01:20:47 --> 01:20:48 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:20:48 --> 01:20:48 [UNKNOWN]: Keep going.
01:20:48 --> 01:20:49 [UNKNOWN]: Keep going.
01:20:49 --> 01:20:49 [UNKNOWN]: That I'm going to go back.
01:20:49 --> 01:21:04 [UNKNOWN]: No, I just, I thought that for the same reasons, I had it as an honorary mention in the best use in episode is the reason why I think it's a great one to round out the album and leave you on a satisfied note.
01:21:05 --> 01:21:06 [UNKNOWN]: Please continue your arguing.
01:21:06 --> 01:21:07 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, back to my arguing.
01:21:08 --> 01:21:11 [UNKNOWN]: Don't find examples of final songs that are hits, I get back.
01:21:11 --> 01:21:12 [UNKNOWN]: Get back, I get it.
01:21:12 --> 01:21:14 [UNKNOWN]: Get back is at the end of let it be.
01:21:15 --> 01:21:21 [UNKNOWN]: But isn't, I mean, isn't, isn't yesterday the final track on?
01:21:22 --> 01:21:23 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, no, help has like a weird.
01:21:25 --> 01:21:27 [UNKNOWN]: They like ruin the album by putting something after it.
01:21:27 --> 01:21:28 [UNKNOWN]: Actually, nothing I'm thinking about it.
01:21:29 --> 01:21:31 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I, I get it.
01:21:32 --> 01:21:32 [UNKNOWN]: I get it.
01:21:35 --> 01:21:37 [UNKNOWN]: I'm just like a lot of albums.
01:21:37 --> 01:21:42 [UNKNOWN]: The singles are like the first four tracks or four words or two, three, seven, right?
01:21:42 --> 01:21:52 [UNKNOWN]: So that's the only thing is I wonder if, hey, if you look up your band or my band, guess what tracks on Spotify have the most lessons, it's gonna be the first track, right?
01:21:52 --> 01:21:53 [UNKNOWN]: 100%.
01:21:53 --> 01:21:57 [UNKNOWN]: And I think that is, that is definitely a,
01:21:58 --> 01:22:00 [UNKNOWN]: a result of the modern streaming era.
01:22:01 --> 01:22:14 [UNKNOWN]: I think back back when you used to buy an album, you could be a little bit more creative on how you ordered the songs because somebody's going to pun on your album, they're at least going to listen to the side of it and if they like you, they're going to listen to all of it.
01:22:14 --> 01:22:17 [UNKNOWN]: They're just going to stop the music when it stops unless they have someone else to do.
01:22:18 --> 01:22:28 [UNKNOWN]: So, yeah, I mean, I just, sometimes I'm like, I just wish I were making music in the times of vinyl records, because I so much prefer the album to the song.
01:22:29 --> 01:22:32 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, born of the wrong time.
01:22:32 --> 01:22:38 [UNKNOWN]: I'm sorry that we just trampled over your peccolisia because I said what I needed to say about that.
01:22:38 --> 01:22:40 [UNKNOWN]: I think the loneliness is a good pick too.
01:22:40 --> 01:22:44 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I feel like the loneliness, especially if you let it be like,
01:22:45 --> 01:22:50 [UNKNOWN]: Grow would be an excellent concert that Closer also, right?
01:22:50 --> 01:22:52 [UNKNOWN]: You could just let it become larger than life.
01:22:55 --> 01:22:58 [UNKNOWN]: All right, favorite song that won't make the cut, but
01:22:59 --> 01:23:01 [UNKNOWN]: Still, you know, gets to be on the B side or whatever.
01:23:02 --> 01:23:05 [UNKNOWN]: For me, this one hurt actually, because I almost made it my opener and it's all fall down.
01:23:06 --> 01:23:08 [UNKNOWN]: I think all fall down is too short.
01:23:08 --> 01:23:15 [UNKNOWN]: I think all fall down if it's the beginning of the record, it's great.
01:23:15 --> 01:23:23 [UNKNOWN]: But any other as an interlude, I had struggled with imagining it fitting anywhere else except for the opener.
01:23:23 --> 01:23:25 [UNKNOWN]: And since it's not my opener,
01:23:25 --> 01:23:29 [UNKNOWN]: I feel like it's got to be cut and it hurts because I actually really like this.
01:23:29 --> 01:23:34 [UNKNOWN]: This is not a show that I skip the opening scene or the opening main title.
01:23:35 --> 01:23:36 [UNKNOWN]: What about you, Jim?
01:23:37 --> 01:23:45 [UNKNOWN]: So as much as I said, it was okay before to me, a perfect beside or on the Deluxe version is going to be a cover.
01:23:45 --> 01:23:48 [UNKNOWN]: And so I think dancing with myself, that's good point.
01:23:48 --> 01:23:52 [UNKNOWN]: And I would hope that they would make it a little more creative, but I think that that is that is.
01:23:54 --> 01:23:56 [UNKNOWN]: the most common pick for them to be like, I just put it on the deluxe.
01:23:57 --> 01:23:58 [UNKNOWN]: Makes a lot of sense.
01:23:58 --> 01:23:58 [UNKNOWN]: Yep.
01:23:58 --> 01:24:00 [UNKNOWN]: They get a mumford and sons of the boxer.
01:24:00 --> 01:24:01 [UNKNOWN]: Things like that.
01:24:02 --> 01:24:11 [UNKNOWN]: See, a lot of my favorite B-sides were some down-temple, not like underproduced kind of songs.
01:24:11 --> 01:24:17 [UNKNOWN]: So in that vein, just a song that every time I hear it in the episode, I'm just like, oh, that's so lovely.
01:24:17 --> 01:24:20 [UNKNOWN]: And I'm glad that there is a full version now in the full album.
01:24:20 --> 01:24:22 [UNKNOWN]: But I chose Hit the Lights bare bones.
01:24:23 --> 01:24:33 [UNKNOWN]: which is the one that Gustat is strumming on his guitar in, I guess it's episode one even when he's in, in Dracula's daughter Lou's hotel.
01:24:33 --> 01:24:43 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and he's just kind of strumming in this guitar while he's like trying to cope with not hearing from Twaq and we know who Twa is now.
01:24:43 --> 01:24:49 [UNKNOWN]: I feel like all of these actually would also make good 1990 style hidden tracks, right?
01:24:49 --> 01:24:55 [UNKNOWN]: There's the acoustic version at the end, there's the cover, there's a weird short one that you're like, well, why don't you even record that, right?
01:24:57 --> 01:24:57 [UNKNOWN]: Cool.
01:24:58 --> 01:25:07 [UNKNOWN]: All right, last category, your least favorite song, but still going to make the record because you got out voted by the band or the agent or the record label, and I've got big boss.
01:25:07 --> 01:25:08 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:25:13 --> 01:25:18 [UNKNOWN]: But, but, but, but the band or the record, everybody else is going to want it on there.
01:25:19 --> 01:25:20 [UNKNOWN]: So it's going to be on the record.
01:25:20 --> 01:25:21 [UNKNOWN]: It's not going to be a B side.
01:25:21 --> 01:25:22 [UNKNOWN]: It's going to be on the record.
01:25:22 --> 01:25:27 [UNKNOWN]: But I'll just like, uh, look at my phone while it's playing or something.
01:25:27 --> 01:25:30 [UNKNOWN]: So this is the one I chose one of the new ones for.
01:25:30 --> 01:25:32 [UNKNOWN]: I chose the remix of the loneliness.
01:25:33 --> 01:25:38 [UNKNOWN]: I just, it's not, and I'm not really, it's not really my style of music.
01:25:40 --> 01:25:43 [UNKNOWN]: And I just, I'm like, no, give me the regular version.
01:25:43 --> 01:25:44 [UNKNOWN]: No to this version.
01:25:45 --> 01:25:53 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, that's, but I could see them being like, no, but we gotta appeal to Gen Z or whatever.
01:25:55 --> 01:26:11 [UNKNOWN]: I just put the loneliness because again, and I thought I was going to be not as predictable but then I realized I was on the wrong category, so yes, I am predictable, the loneliness again, I think people are going to love it and maybe this is why I failed in a career and music and did some nails.
01:26:13 --> 01:26:15 [UNKNOWN]: They're all up to podcasting.
01:26:15 --> 01:26:15 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:26:15 --> 01:26:16 [UNKNOWN]: That's right.
01:26:16 --> 01:26:27 [UNKNOWN]: There's one more song I wanted to give a shout out that we haven't really, for whatever reason, mentioned much, but it did get second place in the second half of the season, discord vote.
01:26:28 --> 01:26:30 [UNKNOWN]: And that is Brutal Love.
01:26:34 --> 01:26:38 [UNKNOWN]: How I need it.
01:26:39 --> 01:26:41 [UNKNOWN]: Just to know that you're out there,
01:26:48 --> 01:26:57 [UNKNOWN]: There's no one here, give me that brood to learn.
01:27:06 --> 01:27:26 [UNKNOWN]: So it's, yeah, it didn't make any of my favorites, you know, just with the arbitrary categories we chose, but it is still one of my favorite songs overall, which for me is interesting because it's more, I like a ballad, but it's kind of more like, I don't know, would you agree Mark that it has some R&B tinges to it?
01:27:27 --> 01:27:28 [UNKNOWN]: Which is not usually my thing?
01:27:30 --> 01:27:32 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, kind of what would I?
01:27:34 --> 01:27:36 [UNKNOWN]: Consider that it's got like the orchestra in there.
01:27:36 --> 01:27:41 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, it's definitely got some R&B, but rhythmically it's and it doesn't have a groove like an R&B track, but there's something about it.
01:27:43 --> 01:27:45 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I think that's all it's great.
01:27:45 --> 01:27:49 [UNKNOWN]: I didn't have it as one of mine, but it was like kind of knocking on the door of some of my lists.
01:27:50 --> 01:27:55 [UNKNOWN]: You know, it's another thing that we, we didn't give any kudos to and I'm not sure.
01:27:55 --> 01:27:56 [UNKNOWN]: I'm here to give it kudos.
01:27:56 --> 01:28:05 [UNKNOWN]: I'm just noting that I think maybe Ben is highest charting song, cabbage, or cabbage in universe, like the only one that cracked the top of a major or something.
01:28:05 --> 01:28:13 [UNKNOWN]: And it's not necessarily one of the better songs in my opinion, but it was a contender for my song that the record company forced me to put on.
01:28:13 --> 01:28:17 [UNKNOWN]: But that's the one that's supposed to be the anthem with the make more, make more.
01:28:18 --> 01:28:18 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
01:28:18 --> 01:28:21 [UNKNOWN]: And they also talk about long face a lot and that didn't come out.
01:28:21 --> 01:28:24 [UNKNOWN]: But like in universe, they're always talking about how they don't want to.
01:28:25 --> 01:28:26 [UNKNOWN]: He says he doesn't want to play it or something.
01:28:26 --> 01:28:27 [UNKNOWN]: I'm trying to remember anyways.
01:28:28 --> 01:28:31 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, you said it's a song you wash your car, too.
01:28:31 --> 01:28:31 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
01:28:32 --> 01:28:32 [UNKNOWN]: That's right.
01:28:32 --> 01:28:33 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:28:33 --> 01:28:37 [UNKNOWN]: Now I, you mentioned that on, like, that was my, yeah, that was my, thank you, joke.
01:28:37 --> 01:28:37 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:28:38 --> 01:28:40 [UNKNOWN]: I do want to say I like the lyrics for cabbage.
01:28:40 --> 01:28:48 [UNKNOWN]: She's, that's another one that's like very, um, we're all monster's group hug sort of vibes, which is, you know, I was saying last episode is my thing.
01:28:50 --> 01:28:55 [UNKNOWN]: But I want to shout out to overall just the variety of the music.
01:28:55 --> 01:29:08 [UNKNOWN]: Like we have not played all clips from all 23 tracks here, but I just from what you've heard here already, like what an array of genres.
01:29:08 --> 01:29:12 [UNKNOWN]: Like I know it's supposed to be glam rock inspired, and that's certainly in there.
01:29:12 --> 01:29:18 [UNKNOWN]: But what do you think, can you think of any artist who are making music this varied?
01:29:21 --> 01:29:42 [UNKNOWN]: one thing I will shout out that is glam rock adjacent that's not an artist but it is a show there is and it's not just because of the glam rock thing there's something very headvig in the angry inch about some of this music for sure and that show if anybody has seen the film or you know the live show is so different because it's basically like a band
01:29:43 --> 01:29:55 [UNKNOWN]: It's about a character in a band, and the movie is just a movie, basically, but the live show is basically a band concert where the character starts riffing, talking, you get the backstory as a part of the concert.
01:29:55 --> 01:30:06 [UNKNOWN]: But the music has the sort of David Bowie stuff sort of, but then it's got the hard rock, the punk, and then it's got these beautiful, really transcendent ballads in it.
01:30:06 --> 01:30:09 [UNKNOWN]: That's probably 20 something years old at this point.
01:30:10 --> 01:30:27 [UNKNOWN]: the whole season I was thinking like god they have to have seen that right yeah how could they not right um but yeah i mean that i don't think this variety is that unusual for yeah today at least like yeah like it's i think
01:30:28 --> 01:30:34 [UNKNOWN]: It would be interesting to, if this were a real artist, what would they do with the singles?
01:30:34 --> 01:30:41 [UNKNOWN]: If you released three singles, would they be three rockers, three ballads, three, or would they showcase that diversity?
01:30:41 --> 01:30:43 [UNKNOWN]: That I think is tough in 2026.
01:30:43 --> 01:30:44 [UNKNOWN]: I don't see like,
01:30:46 --> 01:30:58 [UNKNOWN]: stained glass eyes and big bad wolf both as being singles from the same artist, you know, we talked about this like two seasons ago on my podcast by the way, people you should listen to my podcast, never mind the music.
01:30:58 --> 01:30:59 [UNKNOWN]: We have a lot of fun.
01:30:59 --> 01:31:10 [UNKNOWN]: When we were talking about Cindy Lopper and we were talking about how time after time was her second single, I think, and that what a like a whiplash that is
01:31:14 --> 01:31:17 [UNKNOWN]: What would the opposite have worked better?
01:31:17 --> 01:31:29 [UNKNOWN]: Like, how do you, time after time is like this beautiful, like, pop song, not quite a ballad, and then girls just wanna have fun as this weird, scinty bop, not to use a Cindy Lopper term.
01:31:29 --> 01:31:35 [UNKNOWN]: But like, there's so different, it's hard to imagine anybody programming that as two singles.
01:31:36 --> 01:31:39 [UNKNOWN]: And I feel like that, that is kind of maybe what you're, what you're,
01:31:41 --> 01:31:52 [UNKNOWN]: What you're observing Alicia would be real when you're trying to see think of like not what an album would sound like, but What the pop culture intersections with and artists like this would be would be confusing to something's dead.
01:31:54 --> 01:31:56 [UNKNOWN]: I feel like today, so I think Bowie's a good poll.
01:31:56 --> 01:31:59 [UNKNOWN]: I don't remember which one of you said Bowie, but Bowie's a good poll on like the variety.
01:31:59 --> 01:32:01 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, one of my favorites.
01:32:02 --> 01:32:02 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, Bowie's great.
01:32:03 --> 01:32:04 [UNKNOWN]: I only discovered him.
01:32:04 --> 01:32:07 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, like I knew of David Bowie, of course, but I only like really started listening to him a couple of years ago.
01:32:08 --> 01:32:15 [UNKNOWN]: Um, Chapel Roan, I think today does a pretty good variety, and I think list dot is pretty close.
01:32:15 --> 01:32:16 [UNKNOWN]: We know she was an influence.
01:32:17 --> 01:32:17 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I know.
01:32:17 --> 01:32:21 [UNKNOWN]: Like I was listening to this, I was like, this is definitely Chapel Roan inspired a lot of that.
01:32:21 --> 01:32:21 [UNKNOWN]: Sure.
01:32:22 --> 01:32:23 [UNKNOWN]: Like the chance and whatnot.
01:32:23 --> 01:32:26 [UNKNOWN]: Like that's, I feel like make more is kind of like hot to go.
01:32:26 --> 01:32:28 [UNKNOWN]: I wonder if that was what they were referring to in the funny.
01:32:28 --> 01:32:34 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, this is a little less euro than some of her stuff for some reason.
01:32:34 --> 01:32:36 [UNKNOWN]: I think the the other thing about it that
01:32:37 --> 01:32:40 [UNKNOWN]: if we're thinking of artists that have a wide gamut.
01:32:40 --> 01:32:44 [UNKNOWN]: I think what's different here is like it's all in the same collection, right?
01:32:44 --> 01:32:57 [UNKNOWN]: Whereas like you could look at Taylor Swift and there's like five artists in there but most of her records have kind of a vibe that is like folklore doesn't randomly go into one of the reputation songs in the middle of it, right?
01:32:58 --> 01:33:04 [UNKNOWN]: Folklore has its own reverberbee acoustic piano, kind of thing, and then she'll have a dance pop record.
01:33:04 --> 01:33:09 [UNKNOWN]: Whereas this is sort of doing the extremes within one show in a way that a musical might
01:33:12 --> 01:33:14 [UNKNOWN]: Anyway, yeah, I'm with you.
01:33:15 --> 01:33:16 [UNKNOWN]: Shopper runs a good poll, though, too.
01:33:17 --> 01:33:22 [UNKNOWN]: Do you have any overall thoughts about the music part of things that you haven't gotten out yet?
01:33:23 --> 01:33:26 [UNKNOWN]: Is this the best show we've been talking about a flag an hour?
01:33:26 --> 01:33:29 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I don't want to have.
01:33:29 --> 01:33:31 [UNKNOWN]: No, just music specifically, yeah.
01:33:32 --> 01:33:40 [UNKNOWN]: Can I ask, do you think this is the best use of in-world music as a device in TV, period?
01:33:41 --> 01:33:50 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I can't really off the top of my head think of just because sometimes there'll be a musical episode and that's fun.
01:33:51 --> 01:34:00 [UNKNOWN]: But this is all like it's it's not, I know a lot of people would not qualify this as a musical because it's not
01:34:01 --> 01:34:15 [UNKNOWN]: because it's, I don't know, Mark, you can probably, you're best with these sorts of definitions, but the fact that it's, it's diagetic in a way that's, that's kind of realistically embedded, you know, that it's not suddenly people are singing and dancing for no reason.
01:34:15 --> 01:34:19 [UNKNOWN]: They're only singing because they're on stage, but still the way they,
01:34:20 --> 01:34:31 [UNKNOWN]: sneak in the music for these key moments and tie it because it is explicitly about exploring your musical side to explore your psyche.
01:34:32 --> 01:34:34 [UNKNOWN]: Um, I don't know, maybe either view can phrase that better.
01:34:36 --> 01:34:37 [UNKNOWN]: It's tricky, the sort of distinction.
01:34:38 --> 01:34:43 [UNKNOWN]: The thing is it, for sure, breaks into the heightened reality of a musical at few points, right?
01:34:43 --> 01:34:46 [UNKNOWN]: This is not just a bunch of concert performances all of a sudden.
01:34:46 --> 01:34:48 [UNKNOWN]: There's the stained glass eyes moment.
01:34:48 --> 01:34:51 [UNKNOWN]: There's obviously the your biggest fan scene.
01:34:51 --> 01:34:58 [UNKNOWN]: That very much would be more like a musical film would do, right, where it's not, it's not really happening, right?
01:34:58 --> 01:35:00 [UNKNOWN]: It's not actually Magnus singing, right?
01:35:00 --> 01:35:03 [UNKNOWN]: And so I think it's in arguably a musical.
01:35:03 --> 01:35:03 [UNKNOWN]: Now,
01:35:04 --> 01:35:07 [UNKNOWN]: point you to headvagan angry and chicken like that.
01:35:07 --> 01:35:10 [UNKNOWN]: Also is most of the songs you hear in that are
01:35:11 --> 01:35:17 [UNKNOWN]: somebody performing that song like there's a band rehearsing and singing a song and that's the song and it yes it's relates to the story.
01:35:18 --> 01:35:21 [UNKNOWN]: So if that's a musical then this would be a musical too.
01:35:21 --> 01:35:32 [UNKNOWN]: I think it feels a little different when it is being performed and stuff and it doesn't all it's not all your biggest fan like where it's a this isn't real kind of suddenly we don't have
01:35:36 --> 01:35:45 [UNKNOWN]: extras in the scene, breaking into a dance number in the middle of it's not that kind of musical, but I don't think that means it's not a musical is once a musical?
01:35:46 --> 01:35:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, that's all real.
01:35:47 --> 01:35:48 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but it is.
01:35:49 --> 01:35:52 [UNKNOWN]: And there's no heightened reality as I remember in that, but I think it's still a musical.
01:35:52 --> 01:35:57 [UNKNOWN]: Like if people, I feel like if you say this isn't a musical, it's me saying
01:35:59 --> 01:36:18 [UNKNOWN]: incubus isn't new metal because I don't really like new metal and I like incubus so they can't be they can't be new metal but if you don't if you if this isn't a musical maybe you don't like musicals and you don't want to be it to be a musical but I don't know what else to say then there's 19 songs almost all of them feature pretty prominently in the show right so
01:36:21 --> 01:36:25 [UNKNOWN]: But I think, yeah, this is probably the best.
01:36:26 --> 01:36:28 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not going to say the best use of diegetic music.
01:36:28 --> 01:36:33 [UNKNOWN]: There's a pretty good bridge over troubled water in the leftovers, as I recall.
01:36:33 --> 01:36:35 [UNKNOWN]: You got things like Schmiggadoon, you've got.
01:36:35 --> 01:36:36 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:36:36 --> 01:36:37 [UNKNOWN]: But I don't know.
01:36:37 --> 01:36:40 [UNKNOWN]: There's Glee with the musical, but I don't ever watch it.
01:36:41 --> 01:36:43 [UNKNOWN]: I've actually, but it's not yet.
01:36:43 --> 01:36:44 [UNKNOWN]: No, this is another level.
01:36:44 --> 01:36:47 [UNKNOWN]: Also, because it do music is heightening all of the emotion.
01:36:48 --> 01:36:49 [UNKNOWN]: And of course, Glee was like that, too.
01:36:49 --> 01:36:51 [UNKNOWN]: I was like, let me sing about my feelings.
01:36:51 --> 01:36:53 [UNKNOWN]: And it happens to be my homework for the week.
01:36:55 --> 01:36:56 [UNKNOWN]: I was really in a Glee because I was.
01:36:56 --> 01:37:00 [UNKNOWN]: The fact that these are original songs is a massive upgrade over like a juice box musical.
01:37:01 --> 01:37:03 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I'm a hater as comes up on my podcast.
01:37:03 --> 01:37:08 [UNKNOWN]: I tend to not be down with let's just remix the hits of an artist to make a musical out of it.
01:37:08 --> 01:37:12 [UNKNOWN]: It's kind of lazy like give me some original songs and heart gave us some original songs.
01:37:12 --> 01:37:14 [UNKNOWN]: Like I'm not like he's doing something with it.
01:37:15 --> 01:37:16 [UNKNOWN]: And I do like them.
01:37:16 --> 01:37:20 [UNKNOWN]: I've been listening to this on repeat all of, you know, unironically.
01:37:20 --> 01:37:24 [UNKNOWN]: Mark, I bought you tickets just in time though, so are you going to do with them.
01:37:26 --> 01:37:29 [UNKNOWN]: Get some, uh, stubbub money.
01:37:30 --> 01:37:32 [UNKNOWN]: Did you see, um, Mark, you watched the pit, right?
01:37:33 --> 01:37:36 [UNKNOWN]: We are two episodes into season two.
01:37:36 --> 01:37:38 [UNKNOWN]: I'm catching up, but so you know, Dr. Santos.
01:37:39 --> 01:37:47 [UNKNOWN]: And Dr. Santos was in just in time until recently, she for a few months, she did a run as one of the leads in just in time.
01:37:47 --> 01:37:55 [UNKNOWN]: And so for a while, everybody on the internet was commenting on all YouTube videos of her second going, like, so this is why you can't finish your charting.
01:37:56 --> 01:38:04 [UNKNOWN]: Like, and I'm not, it's like, I've seen, look, if the music's good, it's hard to, like, be like, oh, Bobby Derren sucks.
01:38:04 --> 01:38:11 [UNKNOWN]: Like, if you like Bobby Derren music, like, you're going to like the musical, but there's something that I respect about an original.
01:38:13 --> 01:38:21 [UNKNOWN]: Look, I'm in a band who like, I'm playing at a show and I know everybody would really rather me to stop and play covers of their favorite songs.
01:38:21 --> 01:38:22 [UNKNOWN]: Everybody's been there, right?
01:38:22 --> 01:38:23 [UNKNOWN]: I get it.
01:38:23 --> 01:38:28 [UNKNOWN]: But I like a good original series set of music, you know, original soundtrack.
01:38:29 --> 01:38:29 [UNKNOWN]: That's fair.
01:38:30 --> 01:38:42 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I mean, and I just think that I'm going to say yes to your original question, John, I do think this is the best use of music and a television show that I've ever seen.
01:38:42 --> 01:38:47 [UNKNOWN]: I honestly have been racking my brain and can't think of anything then even comes close.
01:38:47 --> 01:38:48 [UNKNOWN]: So we got to a yes.
01:38:49 --> 01:38:50 [UNKNOWN]: We got to a great.
01:38:50 --> 01:38:51 [UNKNOWN]: It's great.
01:38:52 --> 01:39:02 [UNKNOWN]: And that's a great, that's a great beat to take a break on and when we come back, we're going to put the music aside and talk about some full season superlatives overall.
01:39:02 --> 01:39:03 [UNKNOWN]: Be right back.
01:39:16 --> 01:39:25 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, so I asked you to pick your superlatives in six categories to wrap this up.
01:39:26 --> 01:39:33 [UNKNOWN]: Now, say the first category is I asked character who has shown the most growth.
01:39:34 --> 01:39:35 [UNKNOWN]: My question is,
01:39:36 --> 01:39:42 [UNKNOWN]: If we're all going to say a stop because it's his season, maybe we should actually have to say who is not let's stop.
01:39:42 --> 01:39:43 [UNKNOWN]: What do you guys think about that?
01:39:44 --> 01:39:45 [UNKNOWN]: Well, I picked someone who isn't
01:39:52 --> 01:39:58 [UNKNOWN]: I think my other, you know, okay, he genuinely showed more growth to see some of that in the first two seasons.
01:39:59 --> 01:40:02 [UNKNOWN]: Because he really doesn't even have the opportunity in seasons one or two, right?
01:40:02 --> 01:40:05 [UNKNOWN]: He's just telling a story at the end he just walks away.
01:40:05 --> 01:40:08 [UNKNOWN]: But that's, I don't, I wouldn't call that character of that just making a choice.
01:40:10 --> 01:40:11 [UNKNOWN]: He follows up in this season.
01:40:11 --> 01:40:15 [UNKNOWN]: He goes through a manipulation and comes out the other side of it.
01:40:15 --> 01:40:29 [UNKNOWN]: very introspective, having that apology to our mind was, you know, well, our mind was clearly in the wrong with this, I do think Louie needed for his own sake to confront his demons that he finally did.
01:40:29 --> 01:40:30 [UNKNOWN]: And so I was giving that to him.
01:40:31 --> 01:40:35 [UNKNOWN]: Honorable mention, of course, was Lestad because it was his story of growth.
01:40:35 --> 01:40:38 [UNKNOWN]: But I think Louie actually showed more growth than Lestad.
01:40:38 --> 01:40:41 [UNKNOWN]: Lestad confronted his demons, but I don't think he's made changes at this
01:40:44 --> 01:41:10 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, Wilson, I've already showed my hand, I'll say, I did choose the stop, but then Louie was my runner up, and I just think, because the stop, he had, he had to do the really tough work of confronting the worst aspects from Magnus to his mother, to Claudia, you know, as they said in the finale, you got a lot of stuff coming at you right now, just got to focus in and.
01:41:11 --> 01:41:33 [UNKNOWN]: And I think we saw from this, you know, someone who's always trying to be aloof and mysterious to someone who just allows himself to break down and by the end of the season, we even see the beginnings of him starting to rebuild himself, which you can only really do when you let go of that image of yourself that you've been clinging to.
01:41:34 --> 01:41:35 [UNKNOWN]: What about you Mark?
01:41:35 --> 01:41:35 [UNKNOWN]: What do you think?
01:41:35 --> 01:41:37 [UNKNOWN]: I feel like there's a fight.
01:41:37 --> 01:41:38 [UNKNOWN]: I'm less taught also.
01:41:38 --> 01:41:41 [UNKNOWN]: I feel like there's a fight for dignity happening kind of.
01:41:41 --> 01:41:48 [UNKNOWN]: There's like with that Gabriella in particular, establishing his identity after hundreds of years sort of is happening in a season.
01:41:49 --> 01:41:53 [UNKNOWN]: He learns to communicate more like, yeah, I think.
01:41:54 --> 01:41:55 [UNKNOWN]: I think John's actually right, though.
01:41:55 --> 01:41:59 [UNKNOWN]: I think it actually is Louis, but I have let's start.
01:42:00 --> 01:42:02 [UNKNOWN]: My honorable mention is actually Alex also.
01:42:02 --> 01:42:03 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:42:04 --> 01:42:05 [UNKNOWN]: To what end?
01:42:05 --> 01:42:06 [UNKNOWN]: I have no idea.
01:42:06 --> 01:42:08 [UNKNOWN]: That's the fun thing is I have zero idea.
01:42:08 --> 01:42:12 [UNKNOWN]: And I know he's a book character, but I kind of can't remember much about.
01:42:12 --> 01:42:14 [UNKNOWN]: He's not the sum of the band is, though, right?
01:42:14 --> 01:42:16 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, oh, right, right, right.
01:42:16 --> 01:42:16 [UNKNOWN]: No, it's true.
01:42:16 --> 01:42:22 [UNKNOWN]: The band, yeah, I just think of tough cookie because she's the, but the band is like barely in it.
01:42:22 --> 01:42:22 [UNKNOWN]: They're barely in it, right?
01:42:22 --> 01:42:23 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:42:23 --> 01:42:26 [UNKNOWN]: They're way more in it, which I have to say makes mix.
01:42:27 --> 01:42:28 [UNKNOWN]: It's a good choice in this event.
01:42:28 --> 01:42:30 [UNKNOWN]: It's having them as even in the background is pretty cool.
01:42:31 --> 01:42:32 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
01:42:33 --> 01:42:37 [UNKNOWN]: That guy has gone through a bit of a transformation and not just literally to vampire.
01:42:37 --> 01:42:40 [UNKNOWN]: Emotionally, we just don't know what that is yet.
01:42:42 --> 01:42:48 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, that's my honorable mention it may not be what I'm most mysterious.
01:42:48 --> 01:42:52 [UNKNOWN]: I would choose Alex Yeah, especially at the end there.
01:42:52 --> 01:42:54 [UNKNOWN]: I guess you didn't write best character growth.
01:42:54 --> 01:42:56 [UNKNOWN]: You were most character growth.
01:42:56 --> 01:43:00 [UNKNOWN]: Yes My things are good picks.
01:43:00 --> 01:43:02 [UNKNOWN]: What was your choice for biggest villain?
01:43:02 --> 01:43:02 [UNKNOWN]: Let me guess
01:43:04 --> 01:43:04 [UNKNOWN]: Me?
01:43:05 --> 01:43:05 [UNKNOWN]: Me?
01:43:06 --> 01:43:06 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, you.
01:43:07 --> 01:43:07 [UNKNOWN]: Gabriela.
01:43:08 --> 01:43:09 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, okay.
01:43:09 --> 01:43:11 [UNKNOWN]: That's not necessarily who I expected.
01:43:11 --> 01:43:12 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:43:12 --> 01:43:13 [UNKNOWN]: I'm shocking the audience.
01:43:13 --> 01:43:20 [UNKNOWN]: My honorary mention was our mom because I hate her, but Gabriela truly was the villain of the season in my opinion.
01:43:20 --> 01:43:25 [UNKNOWN]: She, I think that the season, you know, as much as people are complaining about not seeing enough until it starts past,
01:43:26 --> 01:43:35 [UNKNOWN]: It clearly shows that she is the root of all his, you know, all all his ailments in life, all his social ailments.
01:43:35 --> 01:43:38 [UNKNOWN]: She was still better than his father and his brothers.
01:43:38 --> 01:43:47 [UNKNOWN]: Was she because I mean, they were, they were abusive, but she was, they were abusive for 30 years.
01:43:47 --> 01:43:48 [UNKNOWN]: She was abusive for 200.
01:43:49 --> 01:43:50 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, but that was not the choice.
01:43:52 --> 01:44:04 [UNKNOWN]: Was it, you know, she may have come by being terrible on a sleep by society pushing her whereas her The rest of the family maybe didn't they were privileged jerks, right?
01:44:05 --> 01:44:08 [UNKNOWN]: I God, I think you're changing my mind again, John.
01:44:08 --> 01:44:08 [UNKNOWN]: I okay.
01:44:08 --> 01:44:16 [UNKNOWN]: I have to see I have to see I know you're not going to choose Armand Okay, can you can you give me a devil's advocate case for why it could be Armand?
01:44:18 --> 01:44:18 [UNKNOWN]: John.
01:44:18 --> 01:44:19 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, oh, me.
01:44:19 --> 01:44:21 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, I said, I'm on my mind.
01:44:21 --> 01:44:23 [UNKNOWN]: I'm on, but no, I'm concise.
01:44:23 --> 01:44:24 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I mean, I'm on.
01:44:24 --> 01:44:25 [UNKNOWN]: She was my right.
01:44:25 --> 01:44:28 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I think our mind, the reason he would be the biggest villain.
01:44:28 --> 01:44:34 [UNKNOWN]: First of all, the emotional manipulation of, I think Gabriella does a lot of self-serving emotional manipulation.
01:44:35 --> 01:44:41 [UNKNOWN]: The emotional manipulation that he does with Regina to Louis is honestly just just to be cruel.
01:44:42 --> 01:44:44 [UNKNOWN]: Like there's no, there's no benefit to our mind.
01:44:45 --> 01:44:46 [UNKNOWN]: for doing this manipulation with Regina.
01:44:46 --> 01:44:49 [UNKNOWN]: It's just pure villaining, honestly.
01:44:49 --> 01:44:50 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, so that's it.
01:44:50 --> 01:44:59 [UNKNOWN]: Cause I was about to convince myself otherwise because when you were talking earlier that his like, everybody's a bad guy in the show, but our mom is coward also.
01:44:59 --> 01:45:04 [UNKNOWN]: And that there are certain like hierarchy of how much what level of bad we hate.
01:45:04 --> 01:45:06 [UNKNOWN]: Like we don't like coward as much as we don't like selfish.
01:45:06 --> 01:45:07 [UNKNOWN]: Whatever.
01:45:07 --> 01:45:24 [UNKNOWN]: I was going to say earlier that Gabriela's particular round of villainy is she's very cruel, and there's something so unpalatable about how much joy she gets from other people getting insulted and stuff, but if you're right about our mind, that's seen.
01:45:25 --> 01:45:43 [UNKNOWN]: with and all the situation with the dream all that was just to fuck with somebody yeah i'm back to i'm on and got real it is the runner up i think it's just it's hard to imagine it being anywhere anybody else really but are mond at the stage but i sort of like watching
01:45:44 --> 01:45:45 [UNKNOWN]: him more.
01:45:45 --> 01:45:53 [UNKNOWN]: I like him more as a as a character satisfying to watch him be terrible.
01:45:53 --> 01:45:59 [UNKNOWN]: Gabriella is still in the book like there's there's stuff even there that I'm just like, I don't know it's harder.
01:45:59 --> 01:46:02 [UNKNOWN]: She's harder for me to take as a viewer, but it's Armand.
01:46:03 --> 01:46:03 [UNKNOWN]: Come on, Ann.
01:46:04 --> 01:46:07 [UNKNOWN]: You cut your ex's head off and make him apologize to you.
01:46:08 --> 01:46:09 [UNKNOWN]: Such a baby.
01:46:09 --> 01:46:11 [UNKNOWN]: He knew he would get better.
01:46:12 --> 01:46:16 [UNKNOWN]: He almost failed to do that though, right?
01:46:16 --> 01:46:17 [UNKNOWN]: Like you have to.
01:46:18 --> 01:46:24 [UNKNOWN]: If he, he was very, he was speeding things up whenever he was like, for read was like, oh, his vitals are failing.
01:46:24 --> 01:46:26 [UNKNOWN]: If they want you to talk faster, come on.
01:46:26 --> 01:46:31 [UNKNOWN]: And say the thing so that we can be done with this and move on with our lives, he literally says, dude, okay.
01:46:31 --> 01:46:33 [UNKNOWN]: So we can both, John, you've got a young kid.
01:46:34 --> 01:46:36 [UNKNOWN]: Let me tell you, there's nothing worse.
01:46:36 --> 01:46:39 [UNKNOWN]: Don't throw my kids into the vampire or Jesus.
01:46:40 --> 01:46:42 [UNKNOWN]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, you may have experienced this.
01:46:42 --> 01:46:45 [UNKNOWN]: Your kids weigh younger than me than my two are, but.
01:46:46 --> 01:46:51 [UNKNOWN]: There is nothing worse and I feel it when I'm looking in our minds eyes in this deranged scene.
01:46:52 --> 01:47:11 [UNKNOWN]: Have you ever been in a situation parents where you're like, you make a threat that's like really extreme that you have no way you'll ever actually like if you don't come on just just say you're starting or like put the dishes away or you you can't watch screens for a week and you know damn well you're not going to not let them watch
01:47:11 --> 01:47:28 [UNKNOWN]: She's from week because you're just doing it to try to like shock them into compliance and then they don't do it and you're like, oh crap, I'm stuck with this he's like there's no way I can imagine Louie not apologizing so I'm just gonna threaten literal murder and I'm gonna kill like
01:47:29 --> 01:47:48 [UNKNOWN]: uh... or threatened to kill this this woman that he became hyper fixated on because there's no way and then guess what dude sometimes the kid won't take the dishes and put them away and now you're stuck having to go back and look like a jerk or like like you're as incompetent as our mom is in that scene sorry like yes definitely our mom
01:47:49 --> 01:47:54 [UNKNOWN]: And our mom's defense, it ultimately worked and actually, I think, did, oh, I hate that, too.
01:47:54 --> 01:48:03 [UNKNOWN]: He did push Louie through to a sort of breakthrough of his own, just because Louie is the type to, he's also hiding from things like whenever.
01:48:04 --> 01:48:05 [UNKNOWN]: list.
01:48:05 --> 01:48:07 [UNKNOWN]: Or our mom tell him anything in the past.
01:48:07 --> 01:48:30 [UNKNOWN]: He's like, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, la
01:48:33 --> 01:48:33 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:48:33 --> 01:48:37 [UNKNOWN]: Remind me next time, I want some self-improvement to go have somebody torture me.
01:48:37 --> 01:48:38 [UNKNOWN]: I'm sure.
01:48:38 --> 01:48:39 [UNKNOWN]: I'm sure.
01:48:39 --> 01:48:40 [UNKNOWN]: Really effective.
01:48:40 --> 01:48:41 [UNKNOWN]: Start with the decapitation.
01:48:41 --> 01:48:42 [UNKNOWN]: Go from there.
01:48:42 --> 01:48:42 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:48:43 --> 01:48:43 [UNKNOWN]: What do you guys, Lisa?
01:48:43 --> 01:48:44 [UNKNOWN]: Who's your villain?
01:48:45 --> 01:49:03 [UNKNOWN]: I'll say I do have Armand as the honorary mention of course but my villain of the season is Gabriella just because of course there's the grooming and abuse but there's also it's just like hard to see at this point and I know we will get a few full review of her and I do like her character a lot more in the book.
01:49:04 --> 01:49:06 [UNKNOWN]: but I'm not mad about the characterization now.
01:49:06 --> 01:49:26 [UNKNOWN]: I just don't like her as much as a person because you know like you were saying that we see her enjoying like for example in the past when we saw the flashback with Nikki cutting off his own hands and both Gabriela and a man where in the room and our man was like
01:49:27 --> 01:49:52 [UNKNOWN]: Not enjoying that just like really feeling all the bad feelings and Gabriela was just like smiling and laughing about it And that's hard for me to Deal with and then the other thing is she's also this apostle for the great conversion and obviously we need to learn more about her motivation behind that But it just seems like she will do anything to manipulate Lestat and anyone else
01:49:53 --> 01:50:03 [UNKNOWN]: Um, and she just constantly playing games and and I think she's she's done enough fucking around this season and now it's time in season four for the finding out.
01:50:04 --> 01:50:04 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
01:50:05 --> 01:50:11 [UNKNOWN]: But then the next question is what is the worst single move that anyone did?
01:50:11 --> 01:50:11 [UNKNOWN]: What do you think, John?
01:50:12 --> 01:50:34 [UNKNOWN]: All right, so I tried to really distill it to a single action because there's a lot of plots here and I already talked about our moms plot with Regina I'm going to I'm going to disqualify that is not a single action and so therefore I am picking our mom killing Larry because Larry didn't deserve that and that was just cool and set so many things into motion that didn't need to be said so I'm going to pick that.
01:50:35 --> 01:50:38 [UNKNOWN]: And the second one, I'm gonna, I'm gonna turn against my boy.
01:50:38 --> 01:50:40 [UNKNOWN]: My honor, I mentioned, was let's start turning Nicky.
01:50:41 --> 01:50:46 [UNKNOWN]: I think that that was selfish and cruel and unnecessary.
01:50:46 --> 01:50:47 [UNKNOWN]: And just hurt everybody involved.
01:50:49 --> 01:50:49 [UNKNOWN]: Hmm.
01:50:50 --> 01:50:50 [UNKNOWN]: What about you, Mike?
01:50:51 --> 01:50:53 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so this is close.
01:50:53 --> 01:50:55 [UNKNOWN]: I've got a one and a two.
01:50:56 --> 01:51:00 [UNKNOWN]: It's Armon killing his follower Nelson in the family.
01:51:00 --> 01:51:01 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, for no reason at all.
01:51:01 --> 01:51:02 [UNKNOWN]: Like justice for the humans, man.
01:51:03 --> 01:51:04 [UNKNOWN]: This guy's crime, like I get.
01:51:04 --> 01:51:06 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, that's hardly the argument.
01:51:06 --> 01:51:07 [UNKNOWN]: We saw killed this season.
01:51:07 --> 01:51:08 [UNKNOWN]: Similar.
01:51:08 --> 01:51:09 [UNKNOWN]: Well, Larry, right?
01:51:09 --> 01:51:10 [UNKNOWN]: Similar, right?
01:51:10 --> 01:51:15 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, yeah, but I mean, just like Daniel killing a random person in the street.
01:51:16 --> 01:51:19 [UNKNOWN]: Right, there's something about how pointless it was.
01:51:20 --> 01:51:23 [UNKNOWN]: Like Larry, I guess is a part of some grand manipulation.
01:51:24 --> 01:51:28 [UNKNOWN]: This was literally just for the heck of it in the middle of the scene.
01:51:28 --> 01:51:35 [UNKNOWN]: So this guy's biggest crime is that he was devoted to our mom and for that he dies, like that's pretty rich.
01:51:35 --> 01:51:40 [UNKNOWN]: So my honor I mentioned though is Gabriella touchy touchy after the wolf scene.
01:51:40 --> 01:51:42 [UNKNOWN]: I'm like, that is so hard to watch.
01:51:42 --> 01:51:45 [UNKNOWN]: It's like she was terrible as a human and she's terrible as a vampire.
01:51:46 --> 01:51:48 [UNKNOWN]: That speech comes right from the book.
01:51:49 --> 01:52:04 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, she's like, there's something about her, whatever she did to his head, that I know it's a bit different in the book, but like, is taking him hundreds of years to get over.
01:52:05 --> 01:52:07 [UNKNOWN]: And it starts kind of in that moment on some level.
01:52:07 --> 01:52:08 [UNKNOWN]: That's when it crosses,
01:52:09 --> 01:52:16 [UNKNOWN]: past like we're trying to cope with this tough situation with your family dynamics into something way worse, right?
01:52:16 --> 01:52:17 [UNKNOWN]: It's just ugh.
01:52:17 --> 01:52:19 [UNKNOWN]: What do you got, Alicia?
01:52:20 --> 01:52:32 [UNKNOWN]: Um, mine is the releasing the sex tape, um, I think, in a way, it's, it's like, or saying what this, our mom forces people to confront things about themselves.
01:52:32 --> 01:52:35 [UNKNOWN]: It actually does force the other characters to grow, but does it in the worst possible way.
01:52:36 --> 01:52:40 [UNKNOWN]: And, um, that for me was the worst of them, just the idea of,
01:52:41 --> 01:52:46 [UNKNOWN]: I understand he want to humiliate Listat because he's like, Oh, you embarrassed me.
01:52:46 --> 01:52:50 [UNKNOWN]: Well, hold my blood bank and let me show you.
01:52:52 --> 01:53:04 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, and Daniel too, especially actually a more mad at Daniel's role in that than anything, especially because he was at that last supper and, you know, was like, how how do you end the story and
01:53:05 --> 01:53:11 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, there was just this pettiness and carelessness, um, it was awful.
01:53:11 --> 01:53:12 [UNKNOWN]: It was awful.
01:53:12 --> 01:53:17 [UNKNOWN]: I forgot to mention Daniel was a second honorary mentioned best villain for me.
01:53:17 --> 01:53:25 [UNKNOWN]: Like I think there's something he's been an asshole since the day we've met him, but he was also the audience surrogate in the first two seasons in the same way.
01:53:25 --> 01:53:29 [UNKNOWN]: Like he's learning this story, he's a human being for God's things.
01:53:29 --> 01:53:33 [UNKNOWN]: But here he's not the audience surrogate anymore.
01:53:33 --> 01:53:40 [UNKNOWN]: And so he's just antagonistic in a way that is hindering some of the characters we love at this point.
01:53:42 --> 01:53:49 [UNKNOWN]: Um, runner, not on the level of our minor Gabriella, even though he was decapitating and stuff, but he's creeping up on those folks.
01:53:51 --> 01:53:51 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:53:52 --> 01:54:00 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I think with Daniel also I have questions, you know, I'm looking forward to seeing more from his perspective as well next season.
01:54:01 --> 01:54:09 [UNKNOWN]: I assume we'll get some of the backstory between him and our amount and what's really going on between them now because I think there's a few things going on with him.
01:54:09 --> 01:54:12 [UNKNOWN]: He's coping with this vampire loneliness.
01:54:13 --> 01:54:22 [UNKNOWN]: he's coping, he still got his human drama going on from, you know, his daughter stuff to his Parkinson's and all the everything else.
01:54:23 --> 01:54:29 [UNKNOWN]: And then with this romance with our mom, I think people are complaining, we haven't seen it on screen.
01:54:29 --> 01:54:32 [UNKNOWN]: I was like, I don't think we want to see it on screen at this point because it's
01:54:33 --> 01:54:36 [UNKNOWN]: It's something ugly at this point.
01:54:36 --> 01:54:42 [UNKNOWN]: It is based on all of the wrong things and are non-probably having a bad influence on Daniel.
01:54:42 --> 01:54:49 [UNKNOWN]: So we're seeing the worst sides of Daniel and asked Holy Re that we saw before just turned up to 11.
01:54:49 --> 01:54:49 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:54:51 --> 01:54:52 [UNKNOWN]: So I agree with that.
01:54:53 --> 01:54:55 [UNKNOWN]: John, what's your best line?
01:54:56 --> 01:55:00 [UNKNOWN]: All right, so the best line is the one with the most ruled ours.
01:55:00 --> 01:55:02 [UNKNOWN]: That's the best line.
01:55:02 --> 01:55:06 [UNKNOWN]: I think indisputably in the sea and the answer, however.
01:55:07 --> 01:55:07 [UNKNOWN]: Pretty good.
01:55:08 --> 01:55:10 [UNKNOWN]: I want to do a couple of funniest lines now.
01:55:10 --> 01:55:22 [UNKNOWN]: The funniest lines for me were it was we are the children of the night reborn followed by Lasotka falling and tying for that is I've been up here for three days.
01:55:22 --> 01:55:23 [UNKNOWN]: That's a good one.
01:55:26 --> 01:55:26 [UNKNOWN]: What about you, Mark?
01:55:27 --> 01:55:31 [UNKNOWN]: So honorable mentions first.
01:55:31 --> 01:55:32 [UNKNOWN]: I am the answer.
01:55:33 --> 01:55:37 [UNKNOWN]: Second honorable mention is the Italian tenor roasting list.
01:55:38 --> 01:55:38 [UNKNOWN]: Oh, like.
01:55:38 --> 01:55:39 [UNKNOWN]: So good.
01:55:39 --> 01:55:40 [UNKNOWN]: I wrote down some of it.
01:55:40 --> 01:55:41 [UNKNOWN]: You should be anticipating the beat.
01:55:41 --> 01:55:42 [UNKNOWN]: And now we're rushing.
01:55:42 --> 01:55:44 [UNKNOWN]: My mind swallowing our consonants.
01:55:44 --> 01:55:49 [UNKNOWN]: Then he says he's flat like it's just, it's also great because I just watched that episode.
01:55:49 --> 01:55:52 [UNKNOWN]: A couple like a week ago where they kill that guy.
01:55:52 --> 01:55:53 [UNKNOWN]: And so it's just,
01:55:54 --> 01:55:56 [UNKNOWN]: I'm happy for that actor that you got to come back and do that also.
01:55:57 --> 01:56:00 [UNKNOWN]: My actual winner is the whole Worcester thing.
01:56:00 --> 01:56:02 [UNKNOWN]: Like, it's so funny.
01:56:02 --> 01:56:06 [UNKNOWN]: And I live in New England and so many of those towns around here have these ridiculous names.
01:56:07 --> 01:56:07 [UNKNOWN]: And like,
01:56:08 --> 01:56:14 [UNKNOWN]: Worcester, like there's just something about, I don't remember exactly what thought says about it.
01:56:15 --> 01:56:17 [UNKNOWN]: Just can't, and it's just so funny ridiculous.
01:56:17 --> 01:56:19 [UNKNOWN]: He says, yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:56:19 --> 01:56:34 [UNKNOWN]: I love, yeah, my honorable mention is basically all of the stats, mispronunciation, it's also reddit and discord, and yeah, and just, or things like, when he said, allergies, what does he say?
01:56:34 --> 01:56:38 [UNKNOWN]: Allergies are invented, or what did he say?
01:56:39 --> 01:56:41 [UNKNOWN]: And then everything's ridiculous.
01:56:41 --> 01:56:43 [UNKNOWN]: Anything timing doesn't like something ridiculous.
01:56:45 --> 01:56:50 [UNKNOWN]: But for my best line, I am going to be a little earnest here.
01:56:50 --> 01:56:53 [UNKNOWN]: And I'm going to pick from the finale episode.
01:56:53 --> 01:57:00 [UNKNOWN]: But if I failed, if I failed, then that means I actually attempted something.
01:57:01 --> 01:57:01 [UNKNOWN]: That's a good poll.
01:57:02 --> 01:57:03 [UNKNOWN]: It's a really good poll.
01:57:03 --> 01:57:04 [UNKNOWN]: I wish I had thought of it.
01:57:04 --> 01:57:05 [UNKNOWN]: You're smarter than me.
01:57:07 --> 01:57:08 [UNKNOWN]: It's in the sticks in my head.
01:57:08 --> 01:57:09 [UNKNOWN]: It's my little pep talk.
01:57:09 --> 01:57:10 [UNKNOWN]: I'm quitting now.
01:57:10 --> 01:57:13 [UNKNOWN]: I'm taking it off my headphones because I know that's the line.
01:57:14 --> 01:57:14 [UNKNOWN]: No, you were right.
01:57:15 --> 01:57:16 [UNKNOWN]: I think you guys are probably right.
01:57:19 --> 01:57:21 [UNKNOWN]: What John is your special award?
01:57:23 --> 01:57:24 [UNKNOWN]: Best original lore.
01:57:25 --> 01:57:25 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:57:26 --> 01:57:26 [UNKNOWN]: Vampire P.
01:57:29 --> 01:57:30 [UNKNOWN]: best original lore.
01:57:30 --> 01:57:33 [UNKNOWN]: You know why, though, because it wasn't just a one-off joke.
01:57:34 --> 01:57:45 [UNKNOWN]: He ended up giving us one great moment with, you know, it's polite, it's polite not to, it's polite to respect pronouns, like silence at the urinal.
01:57:46 --> 01:57:47 [UNKNOWN]: Great moments with that.
01:57:47 --> 01:57:49 [UNKNOWN]: And then later, of course, we have
01:57:50 --> 01:57:54 [UNKNOWN]: You know, there's so many conflicts surrounding the vampire pee.
01:57:54 --> 01:57:55 [UNKNOWN]: Do you know what I mean?
01:57:56 --> 01:57:58 [UNKNOWN]: I just, I just love the way that they used it.
01:57:59 --> 01:58:00 [UNKNOWN]: Like it was not a one-off.
01:58:01 --> 01:58:06 [UNKNOWN]: It was something that was played to be silly, but even flippant things in this show end up being meaningful.
01:58:06 --> 01:58:09 [UNKNOWN]: And that's a great representation of why this show is great.
01:58:10 --> 01:58:10 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
01:58:12 --> 01:58:12 [UNKNOWN]: What about you?
01:58:14 --> 01:58:16 [UNKNOWN]: Most confusing character for book readers.
01:58:16 --> 01:58:17 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
01:58:17 --> 01:58:19 [UNKNOWN]: Raglan James, no comment.
01:58:21 --> 01:58:22 [UNKNOWN]: What the hell?
01:58:22 --> 01:58:23 [UNKNOWN]: How about that comment?
01:58:23 --> 01:58:25 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know idea what's going on with what are they going to do?
01:58:25 --> 01:58:26 [UNKNOWN]: Where is that going?
01:58:26 --> 01:58:27 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know.
01:58:27 --> 01:58:30 [UNKNOWN]: I know it's inside the coffin to talk about it, but like okay.
01:58:31 --> 01:58:31 [UNKNOWN]: Let's see what happens.
01:58:31 --> 01:58:32 [UNKNOWN]: Whatever you got.
01:58:32 --> 01:58:33 [UNKNOWN]: Go for it.
01:58:33 --> 01:58:36 [UNKNOWN]: So you think it like the fact that he's brought in earlier?
01:58:38 --> 01:58:41 [UNKNOWN]: and the fact that list all called him a close friend.
01:58:41 --> 01:58:54 [UNKNOWN]: The fact that he's in broad and earlier and playing the role he's playing now is very I can see how it could fit in, but it's weird to me that it does fit him that way.
01:58:54 --> 01:58:58 [UNKNOWN]: And so, okay, I'm not a huge fan of that fourth book.
01:58:58 --> 01:58:58 [UNKNOWN]: So,
01:58:59 --> 01:59:01 [UNKNOWN]: I'm not afraid of changes.
01:59:02 --> 01:59:05 [UNKNOWN]: If they want to change things, maybe it'll make that book more compelling.
01:59:06 --> 01:59:08 [UNKNOWN]: So that story more compelling to me at least.
01:59:08 --> 01:59:10 [UNKNOWN]: So I'm here for it, but it's confusing.
01:59:10 --> 01:59:11 [UNKNOWN]: Raglan James is a confusing.
01:59:12 --> 01:59:17 [UNKNOWN]: And it's actually, because he's in Mayfare or he's in...
01:59:17 --> 01:59:18 [UNKNOWN]: He was in telemaska.
01:59:18 --> 01:59:18 [UNKNOWN]: Telemaska.
01:59:18 --> 01:59:21 [UNKNOWN]: Right, and let me tell you all a story about a guy named Guy.
01:59:23 --> 01:59:26 [UNKNOWN]: I like, or not, mask, like, but anyway, yeah, it was fine.
01:59:26 --> 01:59:36 [UNKNOWN]: But except for guy, like, like, that show, you need to have a, I think this show, both seasons has a main character that you're invested in all three seasons, right?
01:59:36 --> 01:59:42 [UNKNOWN]: I mean, I think there's at least five main characters, you know, if we include Claudia.
01:59:42 --> 01:59:43 [UNKNOWN]: sure.
01:59:43 --> 01:59:51 [UNKNOWN]: And the main centerpiece of that show is not very compelling, but Raglan James in that show, and it's not until this season that I've like, oh, it's that guy.
01:59:51 --> 01:59:53 [UNKNOWN]: Like, I didn't put it together.
01:59:54 --> 01:59:58 [UNKNOWN]: And part of that is because, obviously, the characterization is like, we're not seeing the same thing.
01:59:58 --> 02:00:00 [UNKNOWN]: We're seeing the same name really at a at this point.
02:00:01 --> 02:00:02 [UNKNOWN]: So, yeah, uh,
02:00:02 --> 02:00:06 [UNKNOWN]: Don't want to talk about it more because the people are in book readers or like what is he talking about?
02:00:06 --> 02:00:21 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I talked a lot about I started my tale of the body thief murder board at the end of the last season finale episode in our inside the coffin segment because that is sort of what's got my brain the most activated.
02:00:21 --> 02:00:30 [UNKNOWN]: I like that they've brought him an earlier because I'll just say he shows up in book four and we find things about him that used to be true but then we, you know,
02:00:31 --> 02:00:46 [UNKNOWN]: And now we see this phase of his life and I think the things that happen in that fourth book which would be the fifth season will hit harder because I can see them setting up more meaning behind.
02:00:47 --> 02:00:51 [UNKNOWN]: actions and more consequences emotional and otherwise to these actions.
02:00:52 --> 02:00:55 [UNKNOWN]: I also think that that fourth book is when the and rice.
02:00:56 --> 02:00:58 [UNKNOWN]: Let's just start adding a thing that I never thought of.
02:00:59 --> 02:01:03 [UNKNOWN]: Now this happens in the universe and the next book this happens and others aliens or whatever like that's when that starts.
02:01:03 --> 02:01:10 [UNKNOWN]: So let's bring that stuff in more early so it starts to feel so it's more organic and has a chance at feeling like earned maybe.
02:01:10 --> 02:01:10 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
02:01:10 --> 02:01:11 [UNKNOWN]: So.
02:01:12 --> 02:01:18 [UNKNOWN]: Anyway, now that we've pushed out Delist Eddie Redman, I think that that character will be able to shine.
02:01:19 --> 02:01:21 [UNKNOWN]: Wait, Delist Eddie Redman, who's that?
02:01:21 --> 02:01:24 [UNKNOWN]: That's a guy who ever plays guy.
02:01:24 --> 02:01:25 [UNKNOWN]: He's Delist Eddie Redman.
02:01:25 --> 02:01:26 [UNKNOWN]: Come on.
02:01:27 --> 02:01:29 [UNKNOWN]: I liked the characters in that show.
02:01:29 --> 02:01:33 [UNKNOWN]: I didn't like the plotting, but I liked the characters.
02:01:33 --> 02:01:35 [UNKNOWN]: And I want to see the characters continue.
02:01:35 --> 02:01:36 [UNKNOWN]: And they could be in this.
02:01:36 --> 02:01:37 [UNKNOWN]: Like, yeah, they could be in this guy.
02:01:40 --> 02:01:46 [UNKNOWN]: Well tell us about Guy's mom, why I'm most interested in, I'll just say the sisters in that show.
02:01:47 --> 02:01:50 [UNKNOWN]: And Jasper, we need Jasper to vampire in the show for sure.
02:01:50 --> 02:01:51 [UNKNOWN]: He was cool.
02:01:51 --> 02:01:51 [UNKNOWN]: He was cool.
02:01:52 --> 02:01:54 [UNKNOWN]: And like you said, the sisters were cool.
02:01:54 --> 02:01:58 [UNKNOWN]: I, you, when need a compelling main character.
02:01:58 --> 02:01:58 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
02:01:59 --> 02:01:59 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
02:01:59 --> 02:01:59 [UNKNOWN]: Anyway.
02:02:01 --> 02:02:08 [UNKNOWN]: Sorry, I have to say just like when that show came out, I was watching it, we had just got a puppy and we named him Jasper.
02:02:08 --> 02:02:17 [UNKNOWN]: No, it was just really hard for me to like watch this vampire character and like do what he does and I'm like, no, that's, you're not Jasper, Jasper is this little talk.
02:02:18 --> 02:02:20 [UNKNOWN]: Anyways, let's do super-lative.
02:02:21 --> 02:02:32 [UNKNOWN]: My supportive is triple character threat and that would be Claudia, news Claudia that let's start sees my name right, sting us eyes and Regina.
02:02:33 --> 02:02:40 [UNKNOWN]: So really, it's a superlative for Delaney Hills, but these are all shades of Claudia.
02:02:41 --> 02:02:41 [UNKNOWN]: I like it.
02:02:42 --> 02:02:43 [UNKNOWN]: That's a cool reward.
02:02:44 --> 02:02:45 [UNKNOWN]: Alright.
02:02:45 --> 02:02:46 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:02:46 --> 02:02:50 [UNKNOWN]: What are you most looking forward to next season, Mark?
02:02:53 --> 02:02:56 [UNKNOWN]: I am most looking forward to backstory.
02:02:58 --> 02:03:00 [UNKNOWN]: Look three has a massive lore dump.
02:03:01 --> 02:03:05 [UNKNOWN]: It really works in the novel, but like this show shows that they're looking for.
02:03:05 --> 02:03:06 [UNKNOWN]: Like a costume backstory, then?
02:03:07 --> 02:03:11 [UNKNOWN]: It's not just a cautious, but I know it's like other characters.
02:03:11 --> 02:03:14 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, I mean like back story.
02:03:14 --> 02:03:16 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, it's not just a cautious, but like there's ancient history.
02:03:17 --> 02:03:18 [UNKNOWN]: There's there's middle.
02:03:18 --> 02:03:25 [UNKNOWN]: So vampire origins, we can say it's that, but also there's there's stuff with druids and stuff as I recall correctly.
02:03:26 --> 02:03:29 [UNKNOWN]: Like that's not is that's isn't that in that that's in Marius's book, right?
02:03:30 --> 02:03:31 [UNKNOWN]: I've never read Marius.
02:03:31 --> 02:03:32 [UNKNOWN]: Marius is a book.
02:03:32 --> 02:03:35 [UNKNOWN]: Jesus Christ woman someone we kept writing.
02:03:37 --> 02:03:57 [UNKNOWN]: There's like a guy, yeah, Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug and Blug
02:03:57 --> 02:04:10 [UNKNOWN]: I just feel like the showrunners have demonstrated their really very equipped to integrate backstory within contemporary stuff that'll work well.
02:04:10 --> 02:04:17 [UNKNOWN]: And there's a lot of exciting cool stuff that happens in that third book in the contemporary timeline, which isn't has true, in my opinion, maybe with Vampireless Thought novel.
02:04:18 --> 02:04:21 [UNKNOWN]: And so I'm really here for whatever they're going to do to give us that.
02:04:21 --> 02:04:22 [UNKNOWN]: Hopefully they don't
02:04:23 --> 02:04:35 [UNKNOWN]: ignore too much of it, but even if it's less center-stage than in the same way that was thought story is less central, the backstory takes a second rank to the contemporary plot.
02:04:35 --> 02:04:36 [UNKNOWN]: I'm okay with that, but I'm
02:04:37 --> 02:04:39 [UNKNOWN]: really looking forward to that.
02:04:39 --> 02:04:48 [UNKNOWN]: And my honorary mention is probably not even going to be learned, but who's listening to the record, but the record.
02:04:48 --> 02:04:49 [UNKNOWN]: That's interesting.
02:04:49 --> 02:04:51 [UNKNOWN]: I don't think it matters.
02:04:51 --> 02:04:55 [UNKNOWN]: It may be a whatever kind of answer, but I'm super curious.
02:04:57 --> 02:04:57 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
02:04:57 --> 02:05:11 [UNKNOWN]: I'll say, my was more focused, um, I just, I want to know what happened to, I've been thinking a lot about that fact that we saw Daniel, he said Raglin and then it cut, and then we didn't see Daniel again.
02:05:12 --> 02:05:14 [UNKNOWN]: So that is my question.
02:05:15 --> 02:05:30 [UNKNOWN]: My on a rule mentioned in that what happened regard like I said would be what is going on with Alex right now with lots of questions about that, but I want to know what happened to Daniel because I feel like that might unlock a lot of other stories going forward.
02:05:31 --> 02:05:31 [UNKNOWN]: What are you jump.
02:05:33 --> 02:05:35 [UNKNOWN]: I want a Kasha past president future.
02:05:36 --> 02:05:41 [UNKNOWN]: I want to watch her trample over this world that has so clearly treated her.
02:05:42 --> 02:05:45 [UNKNOWN]: And I want to see how Montreal ends up looking like that.
02:05:46 --> 02:05:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:05:47 --> 02:05:54 [UNKNOWN]: I just, I was so sold by that performance for that brief time that she was active that I just want more of that.
02:05:55 --> 02:05:57 [UNKNOWN]: I think that's gonna be really fun to watch.
02:05:58 --> 02:06:11 [UNKNOWN]: apparently Sheila a team who plays Akasha had trouble getting her visa to come to Canada to work, which I know she I think she was born in Uganda, but I think I thought she's had a British background anyway.
02:06:11 --> 02:06:27 [UNKNOWN]: I don't know, I was surprised to hear that, but so she really showed up for like the last two days and apparently a bunch of people stayed around and just to like watch her do her thing and that was how they wrapped up the entire shoot was with that Akasha sequence.
02:06:29 --> 02:06:31 [UNKNOWN]: which I think is an exciting way to go forward.
02:06:31 --> 02:06:32 [UNKNOWN]: And yeah, I agree.
02:06:32 --> 02:06:38 [UNKNOWN]: I can't wait to see everything about her backstory, everything about the retribution.
02:06:38 --> 02:06:44 [UNKNOWN]: She's about to ring on the white crumbs owner whenever they have her, they put it.
02:06:44 --> 02:06:47 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:06:48 --> 02:06:56 [UNKNOWN]: All right, overall thoughts about this season or the show in general, the future of the show, the past of the show,
02:06:57 --> 02:06:59 [UNKNOWN]: I think we've said what we need to say.
02:06:59 --> 02:07:01 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, I want to talk about it all season.
02:07:01 --> 02:07:02 [UNKNOWN]: I know.
02:07:02 --> 02:07:05 [UNKNOWN]: There's only like 18 hours of us talking about this already.
02:07:06 --> 02:07:07 [UNKNOWN]: It's not enough.
02:07:08 --> 02:07:08 [UNKNOWN]: I know.
02:07:09 --> 02:07:09 [UNKNOWN]: I know.
02:07:09 --> 02:07:10 [UNKNOWN]: Thanks for having me on though.
02:07:10 --> 02:07:24 [UNKNOWN]: It was great to get this out of my system because I've had thoughts for sure, but it's been fun to talk about it, especially to have like a music thing to really sink our teeth into.
02:07:25 --> 02:07:42 [UNKNOWN]: yeah now thank you for coming on we've been wanting to talk to you about it all season um love that you enjoy this also we need to get your co-host Nicole in on this uh she she said she that we got her tempted because we said it's like
02:07:43 --> 02:07:56 [UNKNOWN]: Well, you said, oh, you're a fan of heated rivalry, and then I shared that quote, someone said online that like recommending the vampire of the start to heated rivalry fans, it's like offering crack cocaine just people who likes to strawberry soda.
02:07:57 --> 02:08:03 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, sounds right, but yeah, we need her analysis of these vampire psychies.
02:08:05 --> 02:08:10 [UNKNOWN]: Mark, do you want to tell us what is up on Nevermind the Music?
02:08:11 --> 02:08:27 [UNKNOWN]: Okay, so the last week on Nevermind the Music, we actually had our 100th episode, and David was on, and so we were talking about a lot of stuff, our friendship, podcasting, music, it was a pretty cool episode coming up in a couple days.
02:08:27 --> 02:08:30 [UNKNOWN]: We have, are you gonna go my way by Lenny Kravitz?
02:08:31 --> 02:08:36 [UNKNOWN]: And there's a lot of talk about cults in that episode, actually, it was a fun one.
02:08:36 --> 02:08:39 [UNKNOWN]: So we are coming up on the end of our,
02:08:40 --> 02:08:43 [UNKNOWN]: second season, which is pretty exciting.
02:08:43 --> 02:08:51 [UNKNOWN]: Like I guess the beginning of September is when that season wraps and we're already working on season three.
02:08:51 --> 02:08:53 [UNKNOWN]: So check us out if you haven't already folks.
02:08:54 --> 02:09:06 [UNKNOWN]: Mind us on you like hmm and John what's going on in the lower house feed so much stuff weekly house of a dragon which as we've discussed I'm not on but David and John are
02:09:09 --> 02:09:20 [UNKNOWN]: Yes, I led, well David was away, but David has taken over and has now implemented a military corner with also with the help of our historian friend of the pod, Nate.
02:09:20 --> 02:09:30 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, check in there for your for historical insights and and genre is dropping truths about shitty characters and awesome dragons.
02:09:31 --> 02:09:33 [UNKNOWN]: He's telling everyone to kick rocks.
02:09:34 --> 02:09:39 [UNKNOWN]: I saw him in the vampire chat today telling our mom to kick rocks, and so I have an ally.
02:09:39 --> 02:09:40 [UNKNOWN]: Mark and I have an ally.
02:09:41 --> 02:09:41 [UNKNOWN]: Yes.
02:09:41 --> 02:09:42 [UNKNOWN]: You have many allies.
02:09:42 --> 02:09:43 [UNKNOWN]: Yep.
02:09:44 --> 02:09:46 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, if our mom has no haters, I'm dead.
02:09:49 --> 02:09:51 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, and you're doing super girl with Joan?
02:09:51 --> 02:09:56 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, so it's coming out on digital on the 28th of July.
02:09:56 --> 02:10:00 [UNKNOWN]: So we are planning to release our coverage around that time.
02:10:00 --> 02:10:09 [UNKNOWN]: So that you can watch at home, if you haven't watched it, and listen to our takes on it, which I promise will be leaning positive because we're friends.
02:10:09 --> 02:10:10 [UNKNOWN]: Great.
02:10:10 --> 02:10:12 [UNKNOWN]: And I'm going to be leading the Odyssey charge.
02:10:13 --> 02:10:14 [UNKNOWN]: I probably, I think I'm going to try to see if this weekend.
02:10:15 --> 02:10:16 [UNKNOWN]: It's going to be good.
02:10:16 --> 02:10:17 [UNKNOWN]: I hear good things.
02:10:17 --> 02:10:18 [UNKNOWN]: I love Greek mythology.
02:10:18 --> 02:10:21 [UNKNOWN]: I read the Odyssey last year for the first time.
02:10:21 --> 02:10:22 [UNKNOWN]: It's great stuff.
02:10:23 --> 02:10:24 [UNKNOWN]: And then, X-Men 97, I saw that it's back.
02:10:24 --> 02:10:26 [UNKNOWN]: I haven't had a chance to catch up, but I'll be going.
02:10:26 --> 02:10:32 [UNKNOWN]: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
02:10:32 --> 02:10:41 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, so we're going to do one shot at the end of season two just because it's been so busy, but, uh, John, it's good.
02:10:41 --> 02:10:48 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, John, I'm going to do it, but John, if you catch up and you're interested, please do jump in with us, because I know you really enjoyed season one as well.
02:10:49 --> 02:10:56 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah, yeah, I don't remember what happened, but I remember really enjoying it because I think John was busy so we couldn't come on.
02:10:56 --> 02:10:58 [UNKNOWN]: So it was just you and me on season one actually.
02:10:59 --> 02:10:59 [UNKNOWN]: Right.
02:11:00 --> 02:11:00 [UNKNOWN]: Yeah.
02:11:00 --> 02:11:13 [UNKNOWN]: So yeah, I mean, and then I, it's getting into, I've already seen some, some of the spoilers and stuff and it's getting into the stories that we hope to be getting into for this season.
02:11:13 --> 02:11:14 [UNKNOWN]: So good stuff.
02:11:14 --> 02:11:14 [UNKNOWN]: Okay.
02:11:14 --> 02:11:15 [UNKNOWN]: Nice.
02:11:16 --> 02:11:32 [UNKNOWN]: and also supercast and patreon subscribers you have ad free access to all of these episodes plus you get extras like a character guide for House of the Dragon or our extra episodes for July which are going to be end of the month just because we've been so busy with this.
02:11:33 --> 02:11:41 [UNKNOWN]: It's wine month, it's my month, so I'm giving wine tips on second breakfast and for our 11's movie
02:11:45 --> 02:11:59 [UNKNOWN]: So if you are interested in that supercast and patreon have the same content two different ways to subscribe and you'll find those links in the show notes and the different plans offered and the other thing that's been keeping me so busy is it's silo season
02:12:00 --> 02:12:11 [UNKNOWN]: So we are, let's see, we are four episodes into season four, have released, and I honestly, I mean, no different people feel differently.
02:12:11 --> 02:12:13 [UNKNOWN]: I've been loving the start of the season.
02:12:13 --> 02:12:21 [UNKNOWN]: It's based on probably the most exciting book in the trilogy, and episode four ends with a doozy.
02:12:21 --> 02:12:21 [UNKNOWN]: So
02:12:22 --> 02:12:33 [UNKNOWN]: Look out for that on the separate wool shift dust feed that is where you will find Luke and I covering silo, what else have we going on with affiliates?
02:12:33 --> 02:12:34 [UNKNOWN]: Sure.
02:12:35 --> 02:12:39 [UNKNOWN]: Um, kind of nothing, except Dungeons and Durags.
02:12:39 --> 02:12:44 [UNKNOWN]: Uh, I just realized I was not including them because I, we have to update this outro document.
02:12:45 --> 02:12:47 [UNKNOWN]: Dungeons and Durags is doing weekly house of the dragon.
02:12:47 --> 02:12:57 [UNKNOWN]: So if you're, if you are, uh, interested in hearing more house of the dragon takes, it's really fun, uh, I'm not watching, but it's still a fun thing to listen to because they're having a great time covering it.
02:12:57 --> 02:12:58 [UNKNOWN]: So check that out.
02:12:58 --> 02:13:02 [UNKNOWN]: It's on audio now and it has always been on YouTube, uh, and it sounded great.
02:13:06 --> 02:13:08 [UNKNOWN]: And then Cosmere Corner is launching July 31st.
02:13:08 --> 02:13:13 [UNKNOWN]: That's going to be a new feed in your ears and on YouTube as well.
02:13:13 --> 02:13:15 [UNKNOWN]: It's going to be a video podcast.
02:13:15 --> 02:13:20 [UNKNOWN]: So if you're interested in joining us on the journey through Brandon Sanderson's books, we're starting.
02:13:20 --> 02:13:22 [UNKNOWN]: It's spoiler free from the beginning.
02:13:22 --> 02:13:23 [UNKNOWN]: So you can hop right in.
02:13:24 --> 02:13:25 [UNKNOWN]: All right.
02:13:26 --> 02:13:33 [UNKNOWN]: future editor Alicia popping in just to say it's been a couple weeks since we've recorded this episode.
02:13:34 --> 02:13:35 [UNKNOWN]: It's been a very busy time.
02:13:35 --> 02:13:42 [UNKNOWN]: See the Laura Hound's feed, the Walshiff dust feed, full of silo stuff for more information, not to mention my day job.
02:13:42 --> 02:13:43 [UNKNOWN]: So thanks for your patience.
02:13:44 --> 02:13:50 [UNKNOWN]: But as far as news, there really hasn't been much new news since Comic Con.
02:13:50 --> 02:13:55 [UNKNOWN]: We did learn that Hannah Moskovich has been planned to be the show runner for many months now.
02:13:55 --> 02:13:57 [UNKNOWN]: A lot of people apparently did know about this.
02:13:57 --> 02:13:59 [UNKNOWN]: This wasn't a surprise.
02:13:59 --> 02:14:05 [UNKNOWN]: Still not sure why Roland Jones wasn't at Comic Con as planned to be there for that announcement.
02:14:05 --> 02:14:09 [UNKNOWN]: But yeah, I still think she's the perfect pick for this next season.
